Well, so first off I have a whole sideblog for it @superphlyduskull :3c if ur interested

Second this is straight up like. The most invested I've ever been in a fandom tbh, it's the first time I've posted anything and the first time I've attempted fanfiction!! (tho I haven't finished or posted anything yet) I recently thought up a headcanon that ghosts see more of the light spectrum than we do and that thats also how they become invisible, by only reflecting light humans can't see. I'd like to make a little fic abt it I think! Maybe one where a bunch of bugs follow him around bc I think it'd be cute

I think what really gets me about this fandom is the potential for worldbuilding. The show did close to fuck all in terms of exploring its own lore, but there were hints everywhere of how the world might work, and it's SO FUN to play with!! It leads to so many interpretations that are all equally plausible! Plus the huge amount of AUs inspired just by the source material... the way it lends itself to crossovers super easily as well, considering Clockwork has sent Danny into a different universe in the show (yknow, to stop the timeline where his family and friends and teacher die because he cheated on a test, eventually leading to him destroying the world...... there are some interesting morals in the show)

The angst potential is also insane, and I'm actually interacting with angst a lot more in this fandom than I usually would bc its so beautifully handled a lot of the time. Between identity reveals going wrong and the Guys in White getting a hold of him and Vlad being a shitbag to Danny being the GHOST KING

Ghost King Danny is probably one of my favorite AUs, I think partially bc its really fun to explore how insane it is for poor Danny to be saddled with this huge responsibility, and also to see how much power that gives him? Like on the one hand thats too much for a kid his age to handle and I feel like I might be projecting a bit since I was responsible for more than I would've liked from a young age, but also it reeeally spices up identity reveal scenarios and can save him too much grief in others bc depending on the take, a huge amount of the ghost zone has his back!! Like uhhh No, you are NOT going to mess with our King, [insert possible antagonist here]

It's also super fun to think of what ghost culture might be like, as well as just how ghosts work! We see glimpses in the show, but again, nothing is explored much? I love the universally accepted headcanon that ghosts have a vital organ called a core (though how it works varies greatly from person to person), and the idea that there are multiple ways a ghost forms (like from a being dying, or just forming from ectoplasm and strong emotions or big concepts, or being straight up born??). I've also seen the idea that a lot of ghosts don't really mean harm to Danny and that ghost culture is generally more violent bc they're not as squishy as humans!

Also!! There's gonna be a new graphic novel which is sick as hell! We don't know much more than that, but hopefully Nickolodeon doesn't mess too much with the creative team, because I'm really interested to see where they take it (especially since I think bitch fartman doesn't have any say in decisions? I'm not sure on that tho). Either way it's new content and I'm excited to see where the fandom goes with it too!

I have also realized the reason I don't infodump much is because I'm terrible at explaining things and trip over my words and am hard to follow lmao, particularly in person. You'd think that as an actor I'd be a little better with words but naaah lmao. I need to rehearse them for them to come out right apparently

Those sly fuckers at Nickelodeon lied to us all for sixteen years - the ‘P’ in ‘DP’ is actually for ‘Persona’!

(This is what has been stewing in my brain for literal months after I delved head-first into the Persona series, but didn’t have the self-esteem to do anything more than lurk in the background of all my fandoms because I’m too anxious to actually finish any piece of fanart I start. Originally it was supposed to be a simple concept sketch/doodle I just coloured in, but then I got waaaay too carried away with the shading, and welp…the art ended up in this crappy uncanny valley of “looks like it should be more than just a sketch because of the shading, but still has the crappy dirty sketch lines because I’m too bad at drawing clean line art to try doing proper lines and I just left the sketch in”. I couldn’t even fix the sketch colour - I tried at least twenty times, but everything I tried looked worse over the course of the whole picture…oof.)

I’ve actually been alternating between playing Persona 4 Golden (and finishing my near-abandoned New Game+ of Persona 3 Portable) to try and finish this pile of hot shit.

I originally had ideas for an AU storyline of DP with Danny in the position of each protagonist, but then I decided that since the latter Persona games are a trio and we have a trio of main characters right here, why not let each one get to be the Wild Card of their own story? I based it all on parallels I saw between the three of them and Personas 3-5.

So here’s some Danny-Sam-Tucker Persona Wild-Card shenaniganery…plus two…it’s basically Persona Q2 if you add in Dani.

Danny is the Wild Card of Persona 3, because Persona 3 is all about life and death, and the main characters activate their powers by confronting death; Danny got his powers by becoming half-ghost, and essentially half-dying, so it makes sense. Also, the thematic colour of Persona 3, blue, matches Danny’s colour theme already.

Tucker is the Wild Card of Persona 4 because of the theme of identity and technology becoming intertwined; so much of Tucker’s life revolves around technology. Also, the main characters in P4 enter the RPG aspect of the game by entering a world inside the TV. I thought, if Danny can enter a world inside a computer or video game, why not let Tucker have his own special flavour of that? P4′s thematic colour is also yellow, just like Tucker’s.

Sam is the Wild Card of Persona 5 due to its central topic of rebellion against society for the sake of one’s own ‘personal justice’; that has Sam written all over it, honestly. She tried to get Danny to use his powers for her moral agenda several times throughout the show, so what if we just gave her her own powers to do that herself, and see what happened? Although Sam’s main thematic colour is black, I think the red of Persona 5 still fits her reasonably well (and black is also prevalent in Persona 5′s visuals as well).

Rather than designing them original Personas, I decided to instead work with the parallels I saw between Danny, Sam and Tucker and each Persona game and change the design of each game’s canon Initial Persona to see if I could make them suit the trio, so Danny has his own version of Orpheus, Tucker his own Izanagi, and Sam her own Arsene.

(Also, yes, that is a Dark Dan version of Thanatos…it just worked too well, okay?)

i have been occupied, so it toook a little time, but here¿s my “old, ugly phanart collection”

they aren’t in ant specific order, so there are some that look hal decent from, like, 3 or 4 years and the older ines could be even 7 years old. 

i believe this one is the oldest of the batch. i think this one might be 7 or 8 years old??? i don’t know and at this point i don’t wana know. (please ignore the pentagram, i had very weird friends).

the sequel! actually, this one isn’t as old or as ugly as the one before. i give it around 6 or 5 years. i was really into anime style, and i think it shows a lot in the eyes and the mouth.

i think this one was for a fic called “the boy who leaped” or something like that??? it was about a living, teenage clockwork and i just asked myself how would a teenage ghost clockwork would look like. i believe it’s the same age as the one before.

this last three drawings were from the same notebook and look sorta simmilar, so i think this one might have the same age, or barely a little less. this was fanart for a vocaloid song, too. echo from gumi megpoid. i remember the chorus being along the lines of “what the hell is going wrong, can someone help me please? why i’m switching faster than the channels on tv? i’m black, then i’m white, no, something isn’t right, my enemy is invisible i don’t know how to fight” so i inmediatly related it with DP. but i didn’t liked it even then, so i didn’t finished it.

once upon a time, when i was very dumb, bored and young, i binge watched the entire first season of my little pony. this was the result. also, in the left, i tried to draw a froslass danny from a pokemon xover i can’t find anymore... it was from tumblr and i still love it and remember it. i had a lot of headcanons. that little sketch must be 3 years old.

 obviously traced from the drawing before it. i love the ponytail pony tail XD

1) When did you start writing fanfiction?

University, unless you count a couple of school assignments which would technically count (writing another chapter to To Kill a Mockingbird, writing the journal of one of the nameless boys from Lord of the Flies, that kind of thing). I know that sounds really late, but I wrote original stuff before that. (...Terrible original stuff. Hopefully, when I go back to that, it’ll be less terrible.)

2) Is there a particular story of yours that you’re super proud of?  (Link!!)

I’m usually most proud of something that I’ve recently finished. This typically excludes one-shots just because I’ve invested less time into them, but Compromised (DP) was the first fic I wrote entirely from the POV of an OC, for all that I’ve relied heavily on OCs in some stories in the past, so.... I’m proud of how that turned out. Otherwise, I’m going to go with Crossroads (GFxOtGW) because it’s finally finished, I actually got it done, and I think I managed to do the stories justice, or Broken (ML), because that was me wrangling with raw emotional pain and trying to get it down onto the page in a way that translates, and I think it worked.

3) What would you say is the most evil thing you’ve done in your writing?

Killing off a character mid-sentence springs to mind. Or, y’know, accidental patricide.

4) Write it by hand first or just type it straight on the computer?

Typically straight into the computer. It’s written by hand first if I’m not with my computer. It’s been years since I’ve written out entire chapters by hand and retyped them. Retyping isn’t that bad because I’m a fairly fast typer when I know what I’m typing and not thinking on the fly, but I move things around a lot and editing on the go is so much easier on a computer.

5) Have you ever thought of writing poetry?

I have. I’ve done it, back when I was doing original stuff (it wasn’t just short and long stories). I don’t think I’m any good. I can rhyme--as demonstrated in this fic where rhyming was over half of it--but that’s only half the battle, or none, depending on the type of poem you’re writing.

6) How many fandoms can you handle at one time?

In one story? I’m pretty sure my current record is four. (I also am very sure someone brought up an SPN/SQ crossover but I’m pretty sure I haven’t actually done that yet.) In multiple stories? I think that’s what killed my update speed, multiple stories in different fandoms--though in all fairness it’s most likely the multiple stories. (And, y’know, RL getting busier.) Reading, heck, if it’s well written, I am here for crossovers.

7) How many hours of sleep do you get when you’re working on a story?

That...depends. Unless I’m really, really, really trying to get something done, or unless I’m writing because I can’t sleep anyway, I don’t sacrifice too much sleep. An extra half hour, hour at most. Not sleeping enough gives me bad headaches, and it’s not worth the pain. So most of the time, I get my normal amount of sleep.

8) What inspired you to write fanfiction in the first place?

Nothing in particular, really. I mostly just liked writing and thought it would be fun to play with other people’s characters. I never hesitated because of the stigma around it or anything--my mom used to write it, and I’d read some of the stuff she wrote, along with, y’know, crossovers for various fandoms I was in and she wasn’t--so I was reading a lot of it, but I didn’t start with writing what I was reading. (I still tend not to write what I’m currently reading. I’m weird that way.) I liked writing, so I decided to try it, to see if I was any good at this kind of writing. I like crossovers, I like time travel, so I did the incredibly self-indulgent thing of writing a crossover between two time travel shows (Doctor Who and Quantum Leap), and I regret nothing. (I mean, there are definitely ways those fics could be improved--I’ve certainly gotten better than when I first started--but I don’t regret writing them.) 

9) Do you tell people IRL that you write fanfiction?

Rarely. Mostly depends on who they are. My immediate family knows, a couple of my cousins know, and some of my friends (I think fewer than ten). I ended up explaining what it was to my brother-in-law at Christmas because he wondered what the heck I was typing on the computer since I was done my thesis, and he had the best reaction to date: that’s so cool! (...Other people I’ve told have not received it as well, and those people are no longer counted among my friends--for various reasons, not just this.)

10) What is the happiest thing you’ve ever done in any of your fanfictions?

Uh.... *tries to think of something happy that didn’t come on the heels of or was immediately followed by something bad* Expecting a child? Acceptance? Found family (x/x/x)?

Allen’s Rambling XIX: Delinquents, Actresses, Cats, and More (Persona 5 Characters)

So I don’t have to continually double check what number of Rambling I’m at and more importantly for the sake of organization, I’m just going to number all Ramblings, as well as tag my ramblings with the fandoms I’m talking about in general from now on, fandom backlash be damned. 

Moving on, So during the spring break I briefly caught up with my friends Infall ( @infall-of-music ) and Ninjaweeb ( @xenagodbestgod ). I told them I had gotten Persona 5 and they asked me if I thought it was game-of-the-year material, or at least RPG-of-the-year. I didn’t have solid answer for them back then since I had just started the game at that point. Now that I’ve finished it I can safely so no, I think RPG-of-the-year will probably be Breath of the Wild, but I digress.

Originally, I was just going to give a long, spoiler filled post my feelings on Persona 5 as a whole, but… the rambling I did when I played 30 hours of it basically covered my current thoughts. Eh, I guess I’m consistent in my thoughts if anything. I have more things I want to talk about with the game, but… just nothing else gameplay-wise. No, what I wanted to talk about were the characters, the party members specifically.

Just so you all know I didn’t max out a single party member on my first playthrough. I know, I know, how dare I not waifu Makoto, but… Togo just gave too many good benefits (and didn’t require max charm). Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick update on my thoughts of all the characters now that I beat the game and played through a little bit of new game plus. But first…

Making Amends

So… when I rambled Persona 5 last time I later learned a lot of my nitpicks (money and time management namely) were only issues because I didn’t know about certain social links at the time and just… screwed myself over in the late game. Long story sort the Sun, Temperance, Hanged Man/Tower, and Fortune would had fixed a lot of the problems I was complaining about. Sun helps you make mountains over money in hold-ups, Temperance grants you MORE TIME TO DO SHIT, Hanged Man and Tower made your guns useful for late game, and Fortune just gave you a lot of good buffs for social stats, dungeon crawling, ranking up other social links, and so on.. Real nice stuff over all. Then again… half of these nice social links were either near late game or require some high social stats, so… it was irritating to learn a lot of these late game. So yeah, I just wanted to say that.

With that said, I’ll just dive right in and start talking about the characters now. Fair warning now, I’ll be spoiling things up to the third dungeon story-wise, and some social link stuff, but I’ll try to keep everything else as vague as I can make it.

Ryuji

Y’know, I might get a little flack for saying this, but I really like Ryuji’s character. In terms of the “best friend sidekicks” I think Ryuji is the best one yet. Then again, Junpei didn’t get a social link so… it’s still a little debatable. Anyway, Ryuji is a mix of Kanji and Yosuke with a dash of Junpei. He’s brash and emotional, but his heart’s in the right place, and a lot of the moves he makes, while fueled by his temper and hotheadedness, are understandable. Of course, there were at least two moments I really wanted to punch him, but there were only two, as compared to Junpei and Yosuke’s… several moments. I got to about rank 8 of his social link, and I think it was pretty interesting. I really liked how he still had passion for sports despite not having a body able to compete anymore. Actually, I’m not sure if he’s semi-crippled, or just fell out of track after the team more or less disbanded and he got his leg broken... Someone mind confirming that for me?

Anyway, one thing I didn’t like was how much crap Ryuji had to take from people. I get he’s kind of a dunce, but there’s a limit to how much a person should fail or be blamed for things. Yosuke and Junpei usually got what they deserved because they were being perverted, acting against the party’s will for stupid reasons, or doing something way outside the realm of logical. Ryuji… does a lot of things that make sense in context. When he lashes out it’s when something bad happened to him or someone close to him. When he’s SCREAMING ABOUT HOW HE’S A PHANTOM THIEF TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OH MY GOD RYUJI SHUT THE HELL UP, it’s out of genuine excitement of getting caught up in the moment, and under the (somewhat sound) assumption no one really cares what a bunch of teenagers say. He’s not so much stupid as he is really impulsive. There’s a big difference between the two in my book, and I’m glad that he’s not just some delinquent jock that causes trouble for the party.

On a side note, I’m kind of curious if there are some official pictures of him in black hair, some concept art or something like that. They say a handful of times Ryuji dyed his hair blonde, so… I wanna’ see his natural hair color.

Ann

Oh Ann… I feel so bad I never got past Rank 6 with you, especially since by then I was interested in your social link (but it was late game by then). But yeah, me an Infall talked a little about Ann and her… issues.

Okay look, I’ll just say the elephant in the room now. She’s a high school girl with a hyper-sexy outfit. Yes, it’s sexual. Yes, it clashes with the themes of her character arc and personality. Yes, it’s cheap fanservice with poses and whatnot. I get it, and it’s a fair complaint to make given the context of the game’s themes. However, as a guy that’s seen, played, and bought way more fanservice-y games and anime than Ann’s attire, I’m barely phased by it. Look, I play strategy RPGs for the strategy, I could honestly care less what Ann’s wearing because as far as I’m concerned, Ann isn’t a “sexy character” to me, she’s my magical DPS character, secondary healer, and status ailment afflicter that’s a bitch to manage due to her heavy SP usage.

Now, as a writer I’ll at least say that her sexy attire could had been forgiven if they played up her sexy angle as a point of her character arc. She’s a model and the object of the perverted fantasies of boys at her school. It’s said several times in the text flavor of the early game that her popularity was mostly due to her body and that popularity was more infamy than fame. Combine that with the fact that she has clear foreign ancestry and is an outsider among her peers because of it and they could have had a really nice character arc discussing sex appeal and views of foreigners and half-breeds. If she had awakened her Persona under the pretense of “yes, I’m sexy, but that doesn’t make me someone’s toy to fantasize about. I’ll use my body to crush and toy with anyone that gets in my way” then I don’t think we’d be having this conversation right now. Yeah, the Bayonetta-type of characters tend to be skating a fine line between “empowering” and “excuse for fanservice,” but I think Atlus could do a good job with that type of character. Sadly… Atlus decided to make her a comically bad actress and destroy that what potential that had… Then again, maybe she improved over her social link and I just didn’t get through enough of it to see that.

Anyway… Ann’s a good character overall, just wish I did more of her social link in the first playthrough.

Yusuke

Like I said in the Rambling I think Yusuke could had been written in a lot better. He just feels a bit out of place with the other party members since he’s from another school and his arc felt more forced if anything. Again, maybe his social link covered this better, but I only got to rank four, and if I need to do what is debatably an optional character arc to really understand him I feel like that’s bad writing, especially when characters like Makoto and Futaba got better arcs when joining too.

If he had been written like Makoto where we saw glimpses of his personality before he even interacted with the party and joined the party a little more smoothly instead literally falling into their laps I’d probably like him more. I feel like his character could had explored a bit about Stockholm mentality and dealing with the pressures of being a prodigal student on scholarship and having to constantly make new works to make ends meet. Then again, if his social did go into these details then… I guess I’ll just focus on his social link for my second playthrough.

Makoto QUUUUEEEEENNN!!!

Oh Makoto… if only I didn’t romance Togo before actually getting to you (if only you didn’t require max Charm to get through your social link too). I’ll be going for her on my second playthrough indefinitely. Anyway, onto actually talking about her.

I’ll be honest, it took me a bit to get use to Cherami Leigh’s portrayal of her. It wasn’t bad, I just didn’t expect that tone and pitch of voice at first was all. I got used to it eventually though. Now, Makoto is my favorite party member since she’s does healing, physical and magical damage, and can buff defense. She was in my party almost all the time once she joined. Plus, she has a very well-written arc. They introduced her soon after the first dungeon and was a bit of an antagonist for a while. We got to see her personality really shine before and after she joined the Phantom Thieves, and that’s something I really appreciate. This also makes Yusuke’s poorer arc all the more unforgivable since the writers know how to include someone in a story without it seeming forceful.

Onto Makoto herself, I like the fact that she’s a prim and proper girl that absolutely loses it when she’s had enough or when in combat. It kind of reminds me of myself in a way (as I’m sure Infall and Ninjaweeb knows how I can get when I lose my cool -_-;;), so I can relate a little. I’m no honor student, but I know the pressure of having to play the nice one when all you want to do is cuss out/punch out the opposing party.

Also, I need to see fanart of Makoto in an Aikido uniform since she canonically knows and studies it. As a main of Aoi Umenokoji, Asuka Kazami, and almost any other female fighter in hakama I just… I just HAVE TO see her in that uniform. I’ll draw it myself if I have to.

Futaba

I heard a lot of talk of Futaba showing signs of being autistic and I agree with it, but I can understand why the writers might not had outright said it. It’s likely to avoid people analysis her character too deeply or being put at the risk of giving a bad portrayal due to key part of autism not being shown in the story. I know I have a few OCs that I privately think of as having certain mental illnesses, but don’t outright state it due to fear if improperly written them that way.

Anyway, I like Futaba. She’s cute, she’s a dork, she HEALS SP, all good stuff. I hope I can get through more of her social link on the second playthrough because it was really cute and nice to see her slowly become more social.

Yeah… that’s all I can really say without spoiling it folks. Feel free to message me for my full thoughts if you really want them.

Haru

I’m… I’m gonna’ be real here, I only got to rank two of Haru’s social link because max Proficiency was a bitch to grind out and she’s a late game party member. I like the whole “rich girl with a secret sadistic streak” thing they have for her, but… she’s a late game party member that didn’t get any development beforehand like Makoto… so… I’ve got nothing to really say. And again, still avoid spoilers for this one.

However, I will say I’m a bit annoyed she didn’t get the same treatment Makoto did in terms of writing. Her character arc was very well written for late game, but she goes to the same school as the main character, they could had hinted at her way earlier as a gardener you ran into, or occasionally gave you SP-healing plants throughout the game… Then again, accessing Haru’s benefits in the early game might have broken it for a savvy player, so… eh.

Also, she’s got the cutest voice in the whole cast. The moe, cutest voices are usually either forgone for a more mature voice or poorly done in English dubs, but goddamn Xanthe Huynh nails it.

Oh wait, one more thing I need to say. SHE GETS HEAT RISER, MAKING HER THE BEST PARTY MEMBER. PERIOD. NO QUESTION. THIS IS NOT A DEBATABLE SUBJECT.

Morgana

I can’t believe I forgot to talk about Morgana… damn, how foolish of me. I love Morgana. I love his voice, I love his cute, yet cocky attitude, I love how he’s a male healer with wind magic, making him Hisui Heart, except I don’t have the urge to strangle him through all the early game. I… I just love this cat so damn much. Except when he makes me go to sleep, then he can die in a thunderstorm, but he’s a good cat overall. 

I’m also glad he wasn’t [ RETRACTED BECAUSE SPOILERS ] like a certain someone I could mention, but I won’t because that’s a spoiler to another game, so I won’t.

Making the Magician (AKA “Sidekick”) Arcana the mascot character surprisingly worked well. Morgana really did have your back most of the time, and the fact that he was the one saying how you got more guts, intelligence, kindness, etc. surprisingly made the Protagonist feel a little less generic... just a little though. And on a sidenote, Zorro definitely had the coolest design next to Captain Kidd. I… don’t really have anything else to say in terms of how he was written or anything, I just really like him. He was the best sidekick to have.

Now at this point I’d go over Akechi, but he’s an ultra-late game party member and going in depth with him is a spoiler in itself since it discusses late game things, so… I’ll just say he could had been waaay better written, and the fact I’m saying it makes it sting so much since he was introduced before Makoto was. But anyway,  that’s it in terms of my thoughts of the Party members in Persona 5. Good Lord this was a long rambling, but it’s done. Now onto the Video Game Update… Lord help me.

I wish I had something more exciting for all of you, but I’m sure some of you will be happy with:

Paulina and Star!

- These girls took me forever. Seriously. I don’t know what happened, but I’ve had these girls half-finished on my computer for a few weeks now. I only just got a huge rush of inspiration to finish them yesterday (>>;;)

- But their legs. Good God, help me, I don’t know what my deal with legs is recently. I argued with Paulina’s thighs for almost two hours last night and still I don’t know if they look right. All I know is that they’re done, and copied over to Star.

- I adore Star. I don’t know what made me love this little blonde, but I think she’s adorable. I can’t wait to give her sidequests~~

- I was just about to go on a big, huge rant about asymmetrical sprites that people just flip and they end up looking the same on either side so what’s the point of asymmetry, and then I realized I did just that ^^;;;; So I had to go in and edit the girls’ barrettes just now so that they’re only on the right side

And as a bonus for my two measly sprites, how about some fanart?

So, remember a long time ago, how I mention I got a tablet with my tax return? Well, I finally wrestled it away from Wonderful Husband long enough to draw my first piece of art in, like, five years.

Just a simple Paulina, drawn half my style, half DP style. First time drawing fingers in forever, though. Also, not bad for my only reference being my sprite ^^;

It started off as a simple body sketch, trying to get a feel for my tablet, as well as remembering how to art, since I have so much artwork to do for this game, so I drew my basic bitchy-girl-pose and that ended up becoming Paulina ^^; I think it came out ok-ish. Hopefully I’ll get better. I mean, I’d better, otherwise this game will look terrible ;_;.

And since next weekend is Anime Matsuri, I might end up forgetting to make a post next week >>; I’ll do my best to remember, but if not, I will definitely make a post the week after.

As a fan of Milo Murphy's Law, every mention of the Mikey/Amanda ship from Bunsen is a Beast is weirdly hilarious to me. Because Milo Murphy's Law's initial name was MIKEY Murphy's Law (meaning Milo's original name was Mikey), and the show has a character in it called Amanda Lopez, AND Milo and Amanda are getting Ship Teased a bit in the show. Imagine Milo still being called Mikey and still being ship teased with Amanda, and how much collision there'll be between the MML and BiaB fandoms.

Watching that show is definitely on my to-do list! I was a huge “Phineas and Ferb” fan growing up, and my brothers and sister and I used to RUSH to watch it all the time. I know the lyrics to all the Season 1 and 2 songs by heart, and maybe a few of the 3s, and my parents liked to watch with us too. It was a great show. Very pleasant memories.

I started losing interest when weeks to months would pass and only one ten-minute episode would air at a time (instead of pairs). Then there was the “Star Wars” parody (which rang to me as “We’re running out of ideas”). My sibs and I hadn’t seen any “Star Wars” back then, so we weren’t too interested. I think we hit a snag when we lost the channel too? Something like that?

It’s just… 100% not a show I would ever draw fanart or write ‘fics for. It was great fun to watch and I still quote some lines on a regular basis. The step-family dynamic was an interesting one that I didn’t appreciate enough at the time, but is really cool looking back on it! And of course Doofenshmirtz was always great fun.

But I never… connected with any of the characters. I think it had to do partly with Isabella’s introductory scene literally being heart eyes and romance. Even as a kid, I was too aro/ace for that, pfffffft. It SHOULDN’T, because there are other aspects to her character, but it REALLY bothered me that romance was her introduction, and it always has. 

Phineas and Ferb’s building talents were so outrageous that I guess I didn’t relate to them either (even though I’m known to be a workaholic who churns things out at a decent pace). And Candace was a [boy-crazy] teen and I just a kid, Vanessa was a goth, and I never connected to either of them either.

Between all of these things, I wasn’t encouraged to seek the show out on Kiss and finish the last two seasons (although it’s marked in my bookmarks). So that’s why it’s not a fandom on this blog even though it was a good, cute, funny show and it does hold a dear, dear place in my heart. It’s just not…….. content-creating worthy to me the way, say, “Bunsen” is with its already-ridiculously well-fleshed characters (Sensitive psychology boy

Anyway, I know very little about “Milo”, but I know the two shows are made by the same creator(s?). I vaguely understand it references “Phineas and Ferb”, and possibly even takes place in Danville? Amanda was the name Candace desperately wanted to give her future daughter, but the screenshots I’ve seen of Amanda Lopez in “Milo” don’t match the Amanda I remember from the time-travel PnF episode.

I can only ease myself into one show at a time (Back in fall it was “Star vs. The Forces of Evil”, followed by “Danny Phantom” over Christmas break, and now it’s “Bunsen” because of the FOP crossover ep). 

Kiss is down right now, but after I finish up “Phineas and Ferb” Seasons 3 and 4 (and more?), it’s the first show I wanna watch! Might even draw a little Milo because eyyy, cursed child! I guess we’ll see where inspiration takes me! And then I need to do “BeetleJuice” after that so I can read Bookworm’s DP/BJ crossover ‘fic, and I have “Randy Cunningham” marked here too because I never heard of that show growing up, and my friends recommended “Mighty Magiswords” and “Voltron”, hhhh……

Back to your original Ask, that would indeed cause quite a bit of confusion, yes. Especially because I think Butch Hartman would have desperately wanted to keep Mikey. His brother Mike said one time that Timmy was supposed to be named after him, but the two weren’t on the best of terms back then so it didn’t happen, and their younger brother won the right. I THINK I also read there that it was a running joke that everyone named Mike in FOP/DP/Tuff got horribly attacked by something, but I never noticed this myself, so I’d have to rewatch. 

So my guess is that Butch would have been really sad if he had to change Mikey’s name (and he’d probably opt for changing Amanda’s instead/first).

Okay, I went back and found the article from Detroit News:

“While anybody named Mike used to get beat up in his brother’s shows, Mike says he has a good relationship with his brother and is honored to be a main character”.

Conclusion: That does sound indeed like it would cause a collision among fans of the shows, especially to fans of both! It’s funny to imagine, heh. Thanks for sharing that bit of trivia with me! “Milo” is definitely a cartoon I want to watch!

Rant about how I can’t draw anymore... it shouldn’t have got this long but as it did anyway, I’m gonna put a read more link there eh...

Asdfdeghawbfk I’ve been reading some webcomics on Tumblr and the more I see the pics the more I want to draw too! I just don’t know what to draw. I lost my inspiration years ago. I guess I just became this boring adult or something. Not really as I’m still very child-like by my mind but I think all my energy and imagination is rented by my mental illness as it loves to make up weird scenarios and false alarms 24/7 so there’s none left for my own use...

So far only things I can came up with is drawings related to my mental stuff and it makes me angry because it’s just lots of text along with badly drawn pictures of nothing interesting. I already write way too much of my nonsense no one is interested in and it’s spreading to my art too.

It’s sad because drawing had been my hobby since I could handle a pen. I guess it ended few years ago when I used to do lots of portraits. Just fanart basically but those were never good enough. For me as I’m a huge perfectionist. I was good at the mechanics but not so good at making them look original. I think the major breakdown was when my friend told me that she doesn’t understand people who draw portraits because it’s just basically a copy of a photo and is lacking the soul or story of the drawing itself. She got the point and I was and still am not angry at her, but it made me realize that they were just not-even-perfect copies of photos.

I also was bullied at school and made feel like I was worth nothing and everyone just hated (on) me and I felt pretty shit and I was lonely as hell (I had no friends at school for almst 2 years in straight), I drew a lot and that was my way of getting the attention and approval I couldn’t get. And it was never enough. I did not draw because it was fun but because I wanted it finished, uploaded to Deviantart and to see if I could get comments and I was ALWAYS disappointed and felt like the world is against me and it’s my destiny that no one will ever see me no matter what I do. I was grateful for everyone leaving a like or comment but it was not enough... so maybe they lacked the soul because y only intention with them was to get attention. So I slowly stopped drawing.

I also can’t draw anything just like that. I’m terrible and it also made me even more depressed and angry because everytime I tried drawing something that was no copying, they turned out 57825792 times worse. And I just felt like I actually couldn’t even draw shit so I was just lying to myself, I was pretending to be good at drawing when in reality I sucked so bad and just was faking for myself because I knew how to mechanically draw, but not how to draw with just my mind as the reference pic. I don’t know if they looked so horrible for everyone or just for me, but it made me so damn angry. And I’m not an angry person but when I tried to draw it just made me so stressed out and I wanted to break everything and throw stuff out of the window so I stopped.

AND YET I still feel the urge to draw but I don’t know WHAT to draw. Okay since the first Deadpool movie I’ve been wanting to draw this once scene from it but I’ve never started because it’s too much work to go and find that scene on the bluray and actually get that paused so you can see the lines well enough. So I’ve been thinking about that scene for over 2 years and have done nothing. Also it would just be one stupid-ass piece of fanart portrait which lack the soul and it’d be just for me to do something DP related for couple of hours as that’s probably only way to do something lasting that long. Unless I watch the movie or play the game 24/7 but... maybe not :DD (Also still can’t beat the last boss in the game because they really did not think about players using keyboard so it’s pissing me off too. I really want to know how the damn game ends!)

I also love comics and I started drawing comics when I was 9-10 years old. Or first I started with just series of pictures. Acually have to tell this one here: always the same story tho about a dino riding another dino like a horse in a competition, and then falling over this water hurdle that was deeper than swim pools what the fuck - and it ended with him watching the competition from tv with his family and he was in a wheel chair with an overall plaster cats what was wrong with me??? But I also did draw on coloring books, once I draw with a red crayon on some sort of swan, I drew wounds and blood everywhere and kept telling a story of how lion had attacked it and my aunt was there listening to me horrified :DDD I also remember how I once drew a cat family that apparently turned out to be so dangerous they had chains and all and eventually I ended up drawing lines over the whole paper because they were also behind a ighly securited fence. Okay, I know this sounds pretty creepy, but actually I’ve always liked animals over people so I have no clue why I drew things like these when in the end I could never hurt animals. Maybe Jurassic Park and other movies, as well as documents about animals, had something to do with this? Who knows...

(I also have traumas for the movie “Homeward Bound”, the scene where the cat’s in the basket in the middle of the river and the dog is trying to rescue it. I was very young at the time when my mom caught me in front of that movie crying like a... baby? because of that cat. I haven’t been able to watch that film ever again. So that probably tells you how much I love animals and especially cats as I’ve always lived with cats and we had three when I was born. But I did adopt this to my plays as a kid, I loved so much to play when someone or even better if it was a GROUP OF KIDS that were in a huge danger and they needed to be rescued. I did this with every single play I played back then. Still love it when x rescues y but nowadays more like on an emotional level as I was always alone against the people hating me and I could only dream about someone standing for me.)

BUT TO THE COMICS. At first they were just stream of consciousness without any plot, I created new characters all the time and never finished their stories as they had no plot ever. Also loved drawing “biographies”, usually it was some female anthropomorphic animal or insect that used clothes and had hair because I loved drawing different styles, make up and hair/hairdos to them. And often it started with couple of panels telling about her story from the beginning, then jumped to some age and next thing was panel per age at the same time telling about her in tht age. The idea was just to draw lots or hair and clothes, and then it ended with some age I considered “adult enough” and then their teenage/adult life started with boyfriends and stuff. Usually it was pretty much an ugly duckling kind of story where they were different and maybe bullied because of something (this one bunny had floppy ears so they did everything to get them pointy because she was bullied I guess? At least she hated her ears. Btw this was my first real comic ever!). But you can see why I still love playin The Sims games! :D

After these endless stories about nothing particular I came up with the idea of actually writing a plot and then drawing. Ended up with plenty of short comics that actually had a plot and some idea in them. The characters did change tho and I probably had couple of stories of each different characters. They were also always animals but no more antropomorphic but just animals that had speech bubbles.

My last comics ever (so far) have been two originals and one that I drew as a fanart. The two originals were called Micro - The Insane Murdered, and Little Emo Bird.

Micro was this dino-like creature, yet another anthropomorphic character because I did not know how to draw people without copying anyone’s style and I just never came up with humans as characters. So the header tells it, Micro is a murderer. This one I actually liked a lot! I was 15-17 when I drew him, but it was also much gore as, well, he’s a murderer. Or just a killer as he’s pretty much insane and doesn’t plan but just acts out of blue. I think I drew 3 different short stories for him and I had the last one written down. It was pretty interesting as I didn’t draw him for a while and when I remembered those plans and came back, I had had my identity crisis and EVERYTHING had changed. Original plan was to get him a girlfriend - after he was caught for his crimes and snet to prison,m he later was sent to an asylum for prisoners. This story should have taken place in there, introducing fellow inmates and Micro just felt like he was not in the right place as he was not ill. And then he would have met this girl and they’d have fallen in love and so on. But when I later checked that out I was so... confused :D Like, this is not me? This is what I hate now? Romance, ew, heteronormativity, ew, JUST THE CLICHÉS, BIG EW. So I just wrote these this very deep wall of text about his personality but it never turned into a comic. But I remember how proud I was about it as Micro was meant to be partly me but also something I could never be and never will be and what not, just some pretty cheesy blabber that felt good back then but right now would feel just as stupid as the first plan :D

The second one, Little Emo Bird, was an interesting one as well. I created it as a joke because I was a huge My Chemical Romance fan and there was this never-ending debate over if they’re emo or not (and as a fan I believed them so they were not emo) and created LEB. It was this bird and you usually saw just his head and occassionally wings too and he was very stereotypical emo with black hair and he was very suicidal and angry 24/7. Also others called him gay when he insisted that he was not. But actually I always imagined him with a girl emo bird instead of another boy bird but it was just the another stereotype that emoboys are gays. So it was not meant to be mean but just fun. I also liked him very much because he talked with me - the drawer/writer. Like he knew he can’t kill himself because I won’t let him and it pissed him off very. much. And he hated how the panels he was in had frames looking like scars. Oh my bad, the panels were not scars but the arrows pointing the next panel :D I’m not sure if he was actually suicidal but at least he acted like one because he was desperate for attention and tried to get attention to show no one gives a fuck about him and the would get angry for stupid reasons. So basically just a very moody teenager.

I wonder if they still are o.O Anyway, I want to link this one because I think it’s still the best one and I really like the outcome here :D

The latter and so far the latest comic was about Die Ärzte, or more about the slash pairing (still my OTP) and I drew couple of comics about them, as well did write fanfiction too. These comics were my first to have human characters as I was tired of drawing everyone always in the form of animals (horses usually) just because I didn’t know how to draw people, and many people found their animal forms really disturbing to view so I changed to people.

After those I just haven’t drawn anything really. Comics would be nice, once I actually thought it would be interesting as a career but then again, I can’t work under pressure and I couldn’t live from art because you never know when the artblock hits you. Right now it’s been on for couple of years and basically only way to create something atm is to play The Sims 3 and write my TS3 blog. At least it’s something, pics with text so... I still would love to draw but I just have NO IDEA of any concept or anything.

Also just want to say here that after thinking about my Micro and LEB it’s weird how there’s certain things that actually are just the things that made me start liking Deadpool. (I’d have written ‘fall in love’ but as much as he is a fictional character, he’s still a human being and I don’t/can’t love humans...) It just shows that I’ve always like that kind of things with comics but didn’t know they existed outside of my comics until I found out about DP. Have to admit tho, that I haven’t read any DP comics... But I have an excuse: I don’t know if there’s a way to get those in Finland. ANYWAY, I just feel like someone would think these were affected by DP but actually they were not. Micro and LEB both were created in 2008 and I did not find out about Deadpool until in... 2013-2014 I think? And even then it was just occassional browsing in the internet before the movie trailers came out and that’s when I really got interested and started reading about him a lot and bought the game and here I am now. Acually not sure if it was in 2013 when we were just rewatching the X-Men movies and a friend of mine probably mentioned Deadpool at some point and told some things about him that got my attention. But really I got interested bit later anyway.

I really feel like I should do some sort of comparison between me drawing from photos vs. me drawing from my head to show how huge the difference is. And this annoys me a lot because I feel like I’ve been using these photos to LEARN to draw better but it just feels like my skills are at the maximum no matter how much I’d practice, and I’m not happy with the result as I feel like I should learn even more but how do you learn if your skill is stuck??? People always say that you just need to draw every day and a lot and they don’t understand that’s what I did and never could cross a certain point. I probably was also very jealous at my siblings because they were 5732850 times better than me who had been drawing longer than them (as I’m 3½ years older), just seeing them to improve made me so angry because I did not seem to improve at all. With copy drawings I did tho! But not with the ones I wanted to.

Now, I also know that lots of artists use lots of reference photos and that’s actually great and made me feel better as I always assumed everyone is naturally that awesome and I can’t even learn more; so it made me feel better because I also have permission? I’m not fake for using photos? But I’m just this... all or nothing so I very easily feel like I’ve betrayed myself if I don’t draw all by myself and then I need to point out that hey I’m not this good in reality I used a photo heh don’t think I’m a naturally gifted as I’M NOT asddd. So yeah, my need to constantly explain myself is on the way with this one too :))) But I don’t think this would be so bad anymore if I now started drawing again, but the biggest problem still is, that I still have that artblock and I haven’t had inspirations in years. Apart from that DP fanart idea which I don’t know if I should carry out or not... sigh.

...I want teh comics!!! I once even wanted to start this webcomic diary because I used to read lots of them but even that idea was dead from the beginning because my life is so boring there’s nothing to draw about. I also have drawn couple of comics of our cats but again it’s the thing I can’t (or I make myself believe that I can’t...) draw the way it’d look nice and appealing, now they’re just black and white mess.
