Louis Tomlinson - does it ring with this name? As a singer of the British boy group One Direction, he was successful in the years 2010-2015. Together, the band decided to take a break. It has remained so to this day. In 2016, however, Louis began to take his own path. On his solo paths, the singer-songwriter has developed a style that takes up influences from British rock, alternative and indie pop. His music is often melodic, with catchy guitar riffs and a rather down-to-earth sound reminiscent of British bands of the 2000s. Already his first single Just Hold On sold 1.8 million copies. In 2020 and 2022, he released his two albums Walls and Faith In The Future. This was followed by two incredible world tours with over 170 concerts in 47 countries on 5 continents.
For this, an idea matured - a live album should be created, but a very special one. Thus, individual songs were recorded during the tour. On the 25th In April, the result was surprisingly published digitally. 14 songs have been released. Each of them was recorded in a different city. So the listener at home can also mentally go on a small trip around the world while enjoying the individual songs. Now the physical versions of the live album also followed, which make the concert feeling in the living room perfect. These include four more, exclusive tracks. In addition to the double CD, a double picture vinyl edition is available and it has it all!
The vinyl edition contains a special tour book. Fans were able to submit personal impressions about their concert experiences. And these are now included in this extra booklet. Louis decorated the recordings with individual hearts, smileys or crosses and handwritten the first names of the respective fans. This recorded, mutual appreciation is truly a magical highlight. The 28-page, regular booklet is no less lovingly designed. In addition to the lyrics, you will encounter the London set list, high-quality backstage photos and touching recordings made during the concerts.
Louis is happy about this release: "I have been lucky enough to tour the world twice in the last 3 years. The feeling I get when sharing these live moments will accompany me forever. The opportunity to record these songs anywhere in the world and release them as an album is something very special and a real tribute to the fans, who make every single show a unique and incredible experience. Thank you! Enjoy!"
Right at the opener The Greatest, you seem to be in the middle of the action with your eyes closed. In addition to the live sound, the fans can also be heard clearly. Louis invites them to tune in with him: "Sing it with me!" And they do! The spirited mood comes across clearly. In the meantime, the fans also get the space to sing alone. You get used to the choruses and the delighted shouts from the audience very quickly. In Bigger Than Me, the British singer gives space for personal growth and self-reflection. In the song, Louis describes how he deals with the changes in his life and realizes that life is bigger than himself. He talks about taking responsibility for his actions and decisions, especially with regard to his career and the people who support him. The song contains a powerful perspective on growing up and taking responsibility.
Holding On To Heartache puts the fans in great excitement. screams welcome the gentle song. This is about how difficult it is to let go of the pain after a breakup. It's about holding on to grief because it's connected with the memories of lost love, and it's not easy to finally finish with the past. The single We Made It is powerful. In the booklet, the single was translated into Filipino - after all, the recording comes from the concert in the Philippines. Although Louis sings the title in English, this hidden greeting is really adorable. By the way, this approach can be found several times in the booklet. For example, All This Time/She Is Beauty We Are World Class, the titles played in Munich, were also translated into German, for example.
High In California, for example, can only be found on the physical editions of the album. This lightness that the song contains is clearly noticeable. This is about escaping everyday life and getting lost in a state of freedom and lightheartedness. The lifestyle and atmosphere of California make you forget your worries and problems for a moment - just as is the case with Louis' concerts. Here you feel protected and can escape all negative thoughts.
Common People is about the appreciation of ordinary people and their experiences. The song deals with life in everyday life and how important it is to connect with the "ordinary" people and understand their perspectives. Challenges and struggles that many people experience should be taken seriously instead of romanticizing them. It is his tribute to the authenticity and reality of life. It therefore becomes gently rocking with All This Time/She Is Beauty We Are World Class. Here you rock with real fun from the sofa. The groovy guitars do the rest:
youtube
In Walls, delicate strings underline the song about emotional barriers and the struggle to show themselves vulnerable. Louis addresses the need to dismantle one's own walls in order to enable real connections with other people. It is an honest and personal song about vulnerability, love and the desire for closeness, despite the difficulties that can be associated with it. Louis calls on his fans: "Here we go! Scream" and together the fans sing with their idol: "But these high walls, they came up short. Now I stand taller than them all. These high walls never broke my soul. And I, I watched them all come fallin' down. I watched them all come fallin' down for you."
Out Of My System is then reached harder into the guitar strings. The drums are also picking up speed. With the fast track, the good mood is at a peak. This is about the internal conflicts and the difficulties of freeing yourself from the emotional burdens, while at the same time trying to find yourself and your identity. Overall, it is an energetic track about the process of leaving the past behind and starting over. In Paris, Louis is impressed by his crowd: "This looks fucking amazing!" With a warm voice, he performs Saturdays - a song that clearly reminds you of Oasis.
Silver Tongues is accompanied by a lively piano playing and you can really imagine how the euphoric fans on site shine with shere joy and rock them together again. "Krakow, you have been absolutety incredible tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sing this next one with me, here we go... as loud as you can!” And the crowd settles in: "You and me until the end. Wakin' up to start again. You and me until the end. Wakin' up to start again. There's nowhere else that I would rather be."
youtube
The record ends with Kill My Mind from Santiano. Louis sings of a roller coaster of emotions in a passionate, but also chaotic relationship. It's about the challenge of letting yourself be overwhelmed by the feelings and the inner struggle that arises when you are trapped in a relationship that is both exciting and stressful.
Louis Tomlinson and his crew have succeeded in a truly remarkable work. What is actually the advantage of a live album? You are not terribly sweaty, the way home is not imminent and you do not fall into the aftershow blues like a real gig afterwards, but can simply start all over again. 🙂
Louis Tomlinson's album Live was released on 23.08.2024 as a CD and vinyl via the label BMG.

Radley Balko at The Watch:
Here’s a sentence I never imagined I’d need to write: It would be a bad idea for the U.S. to go to war with Mexico. And yet here we are. The thing about a candidate as historically dangerous, impulsive, and incompetent as Trump is that he routinely proposes stuff so off the wall that it would tank virtually any other campaign. But because of this, some of his nuttier ideas are overshadowed by everything else he does. In a previous post, I looked at one of these under-the-radar ideas — Trump’s catastrophic promise to deny federal funding to any school that requires kids to be vaccinated. Today, we’ll look at another — the Trump/Republican vow to bomb or invade Mexico. Trump has repeatedly threatened that, if elected again, he will bomb drug cartels and fentanyl manufacturing facilities in Mexico. He has also proposed sending assassination teams or special forces units into the country. He vowed to take these actions with or without the consent of the Mexican government. The Mexican government has been pretty clear about where it stands on this: They would not consent. So let’s be clear about what Trump is proposing: He’s proposing an invasion of Mexico. Which means he’s a proposing a war with Mexico.
Trump’s history with this threat suggests we should take it more seriously than the typical bluster he spouts during one of his campaign rally monoglogues. Rolling Stone reported last year that even then he had already asked his advisors to assemble a “battle plan” to enact shortly after he’s elected. He also reiterated his promise in an interview he and running mate JD Vance did with Fox News last month (Vance is also all for it). The origin of the war with Mexico idea dates back to the end of Trump’s first term, when, in response to rising fentanyl overdoses, he attempted to designate drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, despite the fact that they dont fit any reasonable definition of a terrorist. He apparently thought this would allow him to bomb the cartels as if they were ISIS cells. It turns out that it isn’t that simple. You can’t simply call people “terrorists” and immediately start bombing the countries where said “terrorists” are operating without first consulting with the leaders of those countries. Mexico’s president promptly and resoundingly dismissed the idea. This apparently irked Trump enough to take the position he advocates today: Just bomb them, anyway.
[...] Destructive, counterproductive policy that treats foreign lives as disposable has long been the hallmark of U.S. overseas drug interdiction. We’ve funded the extra-judicial execution of drug offenders in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. We partnered with South American governments to shoot down suspect drug running planes without regard to the possible loss of innocent life — that is, until the policy claimed the lives of a U.S. missionary and her daughter. In Panama, the CIA (specifically, George H.W. Bush) propped up and facilitated the drug-running operation of brutal dictator Manuel Noriega. When Noriega was no longer useful for fighting communism, the U.S. then indicted him for said drug running, then (specifically, George H.W. Bush) invaded and bombed his country. We killed hundreds of Panamanian citizens in the process.
As for Mexico itself, in the mid-2000s the U.S. incentivized the country’s government to enlist its own military in the drug war. That policy toppled some cartels, but also spawned destabilizing turf wars and violence as rival factions vied to replace them. The winners then and the military have since been fighting for nearly two decades. The death toll is now approaching half a million people. When asked about the carnage, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton basically said in 2011 that tens of thousands of dead Mexicans was a price the U.S. was willing to pay to keep harmful drugs away from Americans. (It did not keep illicit drugs away from Americans.) The arguably most destructive U.S. overseas anti-drug program was Plan Colombia, Bill Clinton’s drug eradication program that poisoned farmland, fostered rampant corruption, and pushed that country into a civil war that has killed tens of thousands of people. This too did not keep illicit drugs away from Americans.
[...]
It will backfire
Even drug cartels have a code. They go out of their way to avoid harming U.S. law enforcement, and they don’t target U.S. citizens. When underlings have violated this code, or when U.S. citizens have suffered collateral harm, the cartels have bent over backwards to make amends. The last thing they want is to bring the full force and weight of the U.S. government upon themselves. This of course doesn’t excuse the times drug violence has harmed American citizens. We should naturally seek justice in those cases. But while what Trump is proposing won’t end the illicit drug trade, it will create an existential threat to the current cartels. It will back them into a corner. Cartels avoid U.S. casualties because they want to remain in operation. If they know the United States is sending its military to kill them, there’s no incentive to adhere to the code. They’re likely to lash out — against U.S. law enforcement, U.S. citizens, possibly U.S. politicians.
[...]
Mexico isn’t our enemy
Depending on how you measure it, Mexico is either our first, second, or third biggest trade partner. Any military action taken without consent of the Mexican government would bring most of that trade to a screeching halt. That risks about $855 billion in annual commerce. It would threaten millions of jobs, particularly in California, Texas, Louisiana, and the industrial Midwest. When Trump threatened to completely shut down the border during his first term, economists warned it would result in a shortage the goods from Mexico, including computers, cars and car parts, gas, chemicals, and produce (goodbye avocados!). Mexico is also a big consumer for U.S. agriculture. So corn, soybeans, poultry, pork, and dairy farmers would also take a hit. We’d also see major interruptions in supply chains that flow through Mexico. When the Border Patrol shut down just one official crossing in San Diego for just a few hours in 2019, businesses in that city lost $5.3 million. All of this economic damage would come in addition to the calamitous economic effects of Trump’s other disastrous campaign promises, like across-the-board tariffs and mass deportations.
Radley Balko perfectly describes why going to war with Mexico is a reckless and costly idea.

OKAY OKAY RAMBLES OF HEADCANONS ABOUT MIGUEL X A FILIPINO S/O
Okay, I'm a Filipino and I just have to get this out of my system. Might make some art about it in the future.
FIRST OF ALL THE FRIGGING LANGUAGE.
For those of you who don't know, the Philippines was colonized by Spain for 300+ years before the Americans and the Japanese got to us so until now, we have some Spanish words in our language.
So imagine taking Miguel home to meet your family and Miguel being a bit nervous he won't understand when you start speaking in Filipino (plus yannow, first impressions) then the first thing your relatives say when you introduce him:
Uy, ang guwapo naman ng jowa mo.
And suddenly, he's a bit comforted because he understood only one word in that sentence and he knows he has a good impression already.
Also cursing in Filipino when he's around!!! Istg cursing in Filipino hits harder than any "fuck you" you can throw around. If you and Miguel get into an argument and you let out a malutong na "tangina naman, oh" , he knows how serious shit is.
Also, I highkey believe that Miguel loves it (dare I say gets turned on) when he catches you speaking to yourself in Filipino and just being in your element when you're concentrating on something.
NEXT THE FOOD
MY GOD THE FOOD. HOW MUCH I WOULD LOVE TO COOK FOR THIS MAN.
Cooking champorado for him on rainy days (there's actually a fic for this written by Luciel49 in Ao3 A MUST READ!!!). Tuyong adobo with egg and steaming rice. Beef mechado during New Year. Miswa when any one of you is sick. Pancit canton, Lumpia, and Leche Flan for the S/O's birthday. Taking him around the Philippines to try street food like Kwek-Kwek, Betamax, or Dynamite. Sisig Nachos while staying in and drinking with him??? I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT COOKING FOR THIS MAN. I WANT TO MAKE HIM SMILE FROM THE FOOD I MADE FOR HIM!!!
TAKING CARE OF HIM WHEN HE'S SICK
(or idk how his spider altered genes work but let's say he does get coughs and colds). You make him salabat with lemon when he's got coughs. If he's got the flu, you make him arroz caldo or maybe lugaw with tokwa't baboy (making the baboy extra special by making it the lechong kawali version). Before sleeping, rubbing Vicks on his back and chest while wrapping him up in a blanket.
(I'll add on to the list as I think of more. Suddenly want to make an OC for my headcannons, now.)

Drag Race stars rally to support Tia Kofi after hateful abuse
Tia Kofi’s drag sisters have rallied to support the Drag Race UK vs the World winner after she copped vile abuse following the finale.
UK queen Tia won RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World season two over the weekend.
The finale was a real nail-biter, with Tia and Aussie Hannah Conda ending up in the final lip sync together.
The pair earlier beat La Grande Dame and Marina Summers in the series of lip sync eliminations.
But online in the Drag Race fandom, things took a dark turn after the result was announced.
The usual “my pick was robbed” discourse escalated into some very nasty – and racist – abuse against Tia.
Tia herself responded to one post on Twitter X that was so disgusting the account holder was suspended for it.
“Let’s not. For real though, let’s absolutely not do this. At all. Ever again,” Tia wrote.
“Drag is meant to fun, enjoyable and entertaining. Do not behave like this.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race queens call out the hate
Finalist Marina Summers, from the Philippines, also rallied her fans to support Tia.
“I am so proud of each of my sisters for putting out an amazing season for everyone to enjoy,” Marina wrote on X.
“I would appreciate if everyone show the same amount of love and respect I have for these amazing queens.
“@TiaKofi is an amazing person with the kindest heart who doesn’t deserve any form of hate. And that goes to ALL of my UKVTW 2 Sisters.
“This should be a time to celebrate. This is drag. We should ENJOY it!”
Season two sisters Scarlet Envy, Arantxa Congenial-La Mancha and Choriza May also hit out at the “disgraceful” comments in fiery posts.
Hello loves! It’s been a wild 24 or so hours since the Finale of @dragraceukbbc I am so proud of each of my sisters for putting out an amazing season for everyone to enjoy. And I would appreciate if everyone show the same amount of love and respect I have for these amazing queens… pic.twitter.com/LNi6Bjnu7I
— Marina Summers (@marinaxsummers) March 31, 2024
Couldn’t fit all this into one tweet. Please be kind!!! Sending love to our new QUEEN of the MotherTucking World @TiaKofi ❤️❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/MlbBIR4bNO
— Scarlet Envy (@ScarletEnvyNYC) April 1, 2024
I don’t care if ur a fan. If I see one nasty disgusting racist comment you will be dealt with, baby. 🫶 this Miss Congeniality comes with extra trans violence and will defend her friends no matter what.
— Arantxa Congenial-La Mancha (@arantxaclm) April 1, 2024
If u are sharing hate because of last night’s result, u have no space in the world of love & fun we’ve created through Drag. Some comments we’ve seen are DISGRACEFUL, u should be ashamed. Have a favourite & send them ❤️ without bringing other’s spirit down. Karma will get u.
— Choriza May (@chorizamay) March 30, 2024
Tia Kofi reacts to Drag Race win
After the Drag Race UK vs the World win, Tia said, “It means the world to me to win, it’s the perfect culmination of years of dedicating myself to drag and working hard at myself inside and outside.
“The one thing that watching the show taught me about myself was that even in hard times, I can still put a brave face on it.
“Aside from that, I feel like being the first winner of colour in the UK is game-changing. To give people who look like me that representation, it’s really special, and something that I take extremely seriously.
“I want to be that beacon that shows we can all, no matter where we come from or what we look like, achieve our dreams.”

JAYNE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THANK YOU THANK YOU all of these questions are thought provoking im gonna try to answer as best i can
---
1. favourite place in your country?
BICOL
omg. okay so you know i went home last year. part of the itinerary was going back to my dad's province in bicol. and, no joke, the 2 days i spent there literally made me hurt about migrating to australia, and not making an effort to go back often (circumstances about this was always out of my hands, but i don't know, i saw it as a "if there's a will, there's a way" kind of angle), and not remembering as much about the place as i felt i should (again, out of my control like i was super young during the times i went) and everything was beautiful, and peaceful, and genuinely i felt hiraeth.
when i was driving around with my aunt and uncle, we went through the general area of where their old house used to be and it was a place i kind of grew up in, having spent a lot of time there during my younger years. i could not remember anything, which made sense because it's been years, but what really threw me was how normal sized everything was sdlkfjldfskj back when i was younger everything was tall and big and gigantic, but yeah now it's just normal town-sized things. that really threw me off lol.
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
i've always loved puto bumbong??? i dont know what it is about it; i think it's the toppings they add that makes it super delicious. like i know it's "seasonal" but dude if i can eat that all day every day 365 days im sold.
special mention to scramble omfg that shit was bomb when i was a kid. i don't know if that's because it's really good or if i've put the food on a childhood pedestal lmao.
but just kakanin in general and those really rice flour-based snacks in general so love puto, love kutsinta, love biko, all the rice/rice flour-based things.
ALSO SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO RICE JUST WRAPPED IN BANANA LEAVES WITH THE ULAM ON TOP OMFG FOR SOME REASON THAT JUST MAKES EVERYTHING TASTE SUPER GOOD???
im hungry now ffs.
5. favourite song in your native language?
ohhh like bruh opm??? lskdjlksjfljldfs or folk songs?
i genuinely have no real answer with this one lksdfjldsjlk im terrible with favourite music-type questions.
i guess the closest is "ang huling el bimbo" by eraserheads because that song just haunts me whenever i remember it exists dslkfjsdl and it haunts me now and i just came back from watching and singing along to the music video lol 7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
kilig, masiram, tampo 10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
ohhh not in tagalog/filipino.
not necessarily enjoyable, bicolano swears are hardcore because when i hear family say it, it's usually in anger lol. also the fact that most of the swears i've heard refers to genitalia makes it extra vulgar.
like buli/buray, which means kitty (iykyk). 13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
i guess "tabi, tabi po" (excuse me) is one?
so we say that when we venture into places where spirits may be dwelling. i suppose seeing a person very loudly say "tabi, tabi po" while entering a random place may seem strange to outsiders? i remember doing it all the time when i was younger so it was normal to me then, but also still normal to me now.
whether spirits exist or not, i reckon it's always good to show and express respect to any place you enter. 27. favourite national celebrity?
omfg. okay.
well when i was much younger rico yan was a huge crush of mine. favourite national celebrity??? can we still count sandara park dklfjlsdjf like look i was there with the whole nation when she became pambansang krung-krung of the philippines but also they made fun of the poor girl so i was rooting for her. like i watched her in star circle quest with hero and joross and roxanne like, and this is gonna sound weird, they had that vibe of the hp golden trio where you kinda grew up with them BUT NOT REALLY BECAUSE STAR CIRCLE QUEST SEASON 1 WAS IN 2004 AND IT WASNT A WHOLE CINEMATIC/LITERARY SERIES.
#replies#jayne#not from the us ask#sorry for the emotional tmi#but yeah look#this is great im reall happy i did this#thanks jayne! :D

Globe: Sama-sama sa Distansiya
Globe’s 2020 released advertisement fantastically portrays the situation of people’s relationships with their special ones, be it their friends, family, or spouses in the time of the pandemic. “Lumayo ka sa’kin, kasi malapit ka sa’kin” (get away from me because you’re close to me) is a line that probably hits most of our hearts. We understand how it feels to stay away or quarantine ourselves, especially from close people, not just to protect ourselves but also to protect them.
The only way we could communicate or merely get in touch with each other was through online social media platforms. Dinner hangouts became group video calls, professional and educational meetings were held on online platforms, and even romantic dates became late-night calls.
Now Globe, being one of the top telecommunication services providers in the Philippines, has not done this without a reason. It was called an advertisement, after all. It shows a situation close to our hearts, but it also benefits their company by implying that they are with all of us who are struggling at these challenging times.
However, the service advertised is actually beneficial for most of us. All online services using the internet are inaccessible without Globe and its close competitors, which sometimes fail and have much room for improvement but work fine enough most of the time to supply our necessities.
In my view, this commercial has not used any sort of media manipulation, at least within the small number of manipulation kinds in my knowledge. Even without apparently using inappropriate techniques, Globe has still managed to capture our attention throughout the whole almost-3-minute-video. They did so by portraying a situation all familiar to each of us. According to B2B Partners (2014), relatable content increases customers’ attention spans. Moreover, it was interesting since it might have served as a means of comfort.
youtube
CIMB Bank PH: Breadwinner
A Philippine bank, CIMB, which stands for Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad, published this advertisement during the most challenging time of the pandemic in 2020. It was when the newly-found virus shocked everyone mentally, physically, and financially. The emergence of the pandemic (COVID-19) has brought an international financial, social, and general health concern that has resulted in the loss of 90 trillion USD to worldwide economies (Frontiers, 2020).
The commercial's content showed a breadwinner child's situation in a communication with his mother. They seem to have made plans for the upcoming Christmas celebration, but a problem ruined everything. Due to the unemployment issues brought upon by the virus, he has been fired from his previous job, causing them to be short on funds.
In the next scene, however, the mother showed her bank application that contains savings from CIMB Bank PH. This commercial targets every Filipino that has been affected by the pandemic to help them in terms of finances. The mentioned bank provides storage for your income or savings and increases the rate over time. It is helpful for people who need extra income in complicated situations like this.
Just like the previous advertisement from Globe, I do think that this does not include any sort of media manipulation. It captured our attention by showing a pure but heartbreaking scene. It emphasizes how Filipino breadwinners do their best to feed and make their families happy. Many Filipinos may sympathize with the commercial since it has content that practically touches the viewer's feelings. It shows how Filipinos care about those who are around them. Overall, the company did an excellent job on this one. It can be seen that it was done with quality and purpose. Hopefully, we could all get through everything the coronavirus inflicted on us.

Hi Just want to have a little life update.
I don’t know how to put things into words, but I want to ask my self a little bit on how life is going on lately. A little self reflection after 10 months of 2024.
Yes, time flies so fast just like the cold breeze of air that starts in September. It has always been tough, life has always been tough for me, but lo and behold, I am still here standing, moving and surviving. Let me appreciate my life first before anything else because being able to continue life is a big achievement already. A lot had happened even though II may not notice it, in almost a year, there are a lot of changes, plans, setting, people changes. I’ve been to different places within thin the country/ Luzon, experienced and explore different things I have never done before. Let me have a quick recap on how the year went and see what we can do for the remaining 2 months.
JANUARY.
The start of the year gave hope for a better life without any idea how this year will go, which may be in favor of me or not.
End of January, Aljun and I also went to a camping which really went well. We were able to recharge from the nature and had peace away from the city life. We literally just had rest, being asleep since 6pm to 6am we even forgot to have dinner at this time.
During this time, I was able to start my MP2. Yay!
FEBRUARY.
Aljun’s birth month and I cooked spaghetti for his birthday. And he was able to meet my colleagues during the despidida for Sir JC and celebration of the January, and february babies.
I got my Ipad. This thing may be a reflection that I deserve too have reward for myself and I am doing great in surviving what life throws me. I have been wanting this with no specific reason ever since I was a student. I hope this inspires me to be more striving and it may also help me attain much more goals in the future. I am hopeful that this thing may become my go to thing whenever I needed something.
We also went to Baguio, and this time, maybe we mold our relationship stronger. We may have a little arguments that time but it made us understand each other more.
Forgot to mention, I had a major skin insecurity having a dandruff outbreak which started last December and peaked in February, and a rashes on my forearms which led me to get consulted by a dermatologist. Realizing how stressed I was for the past months
MARCH
Aljun also bought his Ipad. And started his new work at WTW. Holy week started this month.
Ate came home, And as usual, I am the person, mainly responsible for the gala things. Tatay also volunteered to become apostle for the holy weeks’ month long preparation.
APRIL
Our birth month. We had the chance to have a time off with my familly. We went to Alahbiga, San Juan, Batangas, where I saw kuya aldrin went to fishing.
On April 222-24, 2024, Ate returned to Philippines without the knowledge of my parents for the reason that she needed to settle her medical for the processing of her work in US. And as usual, again, I am the one who assisted her during her stay. April 24, 2024, We had a dinner out with Ate Aiza, ALjun and Kuya Aldrin, it was so satisfying that I was able to treat them with my hard earned money.
Aj also invited me to join him in his company event.
And as for my birthday, Aljun has been the one who made it so special, we went to A1 premium shabu shabu house, gave me a surprise when I got home from work. In addition, I thank my friends, the Bonaks who also made an extra effort to order something from “Mary Grace” and have it delivered, haven’t expected to be blessed with these people for 27 years.
Actually, didn’t realized to have so much during this birth month. I have always thought that this is just a normal month for me.
MAY.
I volunteered to be assigned as in patient duty for 2 months with phoebe who turned out be my work bestie now.
At this month, there is a sudden opportunity for me to work in Germany, and I thought this will be easy, but it’s not, now I almost wanted to give up, but the thing is, I will never know what awaits me there if I will never be able to start and be there. So I started my language journey and really had a hard time.
JUNE.
I took my certification for advanced dry needling, this is something to improve my knowledge as a professional. We celebrated Father’s day and took ninong and tatay out and went to the beach.
I started signing up for the Language course for Deutsch. I have to take this seriously. (June 16) I am hopeful for this opportunity, I hope, I never got disappointed.
I got my hair treated with ate as my sponsor. Hehe
JULY.
Nanay’s Death anniversary. May she rests in peace. I will forever remember her, will always love her and cherish moments I had with her. Aljun came to visit Batangas again.
Had the chance to go out with the BONAKs and Aljun, went to Puerto galera. We were able to get away and relax in a bit away from work and school (for AJ and Diana). I got soooooo drunk and vomitted, I have been so wasted, and this is the first time ever in my life. But it feels great to be surrounded by people who are willing to take care of me, and ALjun have seen the worst of me this time. Haha
Enjoyed Rehab week, we enjoyed the fun run.
We (AJ, Carol) hiked at Mt. Batulao with carol’s co-workers. The trip went really great even though I had a little misunderstanding with Aljun.
AUGUST
Aljun started being affiliated with MoveIt. Safe drive myLove.
I signed the contract for DevHub , dated July 3, 2024, but officially started August 3, 2024.
Iwas able to meet Junie and Cm again.
We (batchies) were able to watch On more chance the Musical, a theatrical play based from the movie with incorporation of ben and ben music. I really enjoyed the watching and listening to it. If only I was allowed to capture and have some clips from it. We also ate at wildflour, the food here is a little expensive but I was fulfilled to have the capability now to eat here and the experience was great with my batchies.
SEPTEMBER.
We watched Mula sa Buwan, and This time, I am with my highschool besties, JJJ and Princess. A tragic story of love and survival during the war era. A heartfelt theater play that gives us the message to love and fight for the country, A genuine love but is hidden, how the art of music lifts up the soul and how magical it is to imagine that we’ll be returning to the moon, where all people are the same, no judgments, just peace, love and beauty.
OCTOBER
Aljun and I, Our 2nd anniversary the was celebrated at cavite. Celebrated it peace adn nature. I think, this is really our thing. And by the way, Aljun also bought his first ever car. The car he dreamed of for a long time. Another step of achievement for him.
Aljun and I also joined a 10-mile run, which I. Almost give up, but thsnk God II didn’t, this is still a self achievement. I also thank aljun for not leaving me all through out even having the chance to do so.
Phoebe and I had the chance to go out and went to Whimsical Wonderland where we enjoyed taking videos and pictures. I literally just looked like crazy with the snaps we had.
And this wraps up for now, let’s see for the last 2 months of this year awaits for me. I am still hopefulfor the best and for my German laguage journey.

Again, it's been a while.
I have been absent from social media for almost a month and not even made about it. I went just over a year of being rather active at posting with like seven days being the longest time in between post.
What have I been up to?
Well. I finally got confirmation that here in a few days, the "New members" they are not really new, and they will finally be arriving here in Bataan. They arrived in the Philippines a few weeks ago and decided they were going to do some joint operations with some filipino scouts. It's kind of nice that they have done so, it means less work for me and the crew to do. We will undoubtedly still have plenty of work to do to adjust them to our life here but they are arriving just before rainy season.
I never talked about these others minu Pete and Petty Officer Park, even then I only ever just mentioned them. We have a few different cultures coming together. A few different brands of plastic figures.
We have a group of world peace keepers who have seemed to segregate themselves into small units of three personnel. It's great because they are small recon teams. One team is some snipers, others are a desert weather company, and of course, we got our jungle and urban warriors. We also have another special guest who joined the team years ago who has been like a liason to them. Rick from the hit TV show The Walking Dead has been communicating with me via email on what's going on.
The only other thing I have to catch you guys up on is that yes. We took a couple of days to venture out to the Pacific coast of the Philippines, but I just wasn't really feeling the photos as I didn't want to focus on social media. I did, however, take a few photos. It was just three of us girls that took a little getaway trip. We used this time to discuss future productions.
Before I disclose the third person because you already know Anna was one of them, I have gotten over our quarrel in the past. Yes, I had Sasha come along. She was even a sport and wore the medieval dress we had sewn.
This getaway, while sitting around drinking some beers, allowed us to debate what direction to go. The host at the house we live in had this idea that we should create a mini world replica of the eighteenth century stuff he is working on. Which kind of really makes sense! He'd be able to help us build these structures as he has blue prints already.
We would have the treadle lathe, a work table, and an earth oven in this small workshed structure that we will build. This will allow Viktor to play the role as an eighteenth century carpenter, and we could have one of the females use the earthen oven to do eighteenth century cooking and baking. I'm not saying Viktor couldn't do everything, I mean, it's going to be literally a small shed for production. The positive about the shed is that it will allow us to continue with working to complete stop-motion animation films.
So all and all, it was great to take this social media pause to get our thoughts together so we can be prepared for when we get all these extra hands here.
Ok thanks for reading!

From Manila, With Love
If you have been in a fast food joint in the last couple of years, you have probably noticed the shift away from human cashiers and ordering, replaced by touchscreen kiosks. They are easy to use, and assuming you don’t use your fingertips to touch those nasty germ-filled screens, make for a quick and seamless transaction. (Pro tip: Use your Proximal interphalangeal joint—that’s your big knuckle—on your index finger. You’re welcome.)
I’m pretty sure we all understand the reasons why restaurateurs have gone down this road. It saves labor, helps solve the problem of finding labor in the first place, and alleviates concerns of whether your employees will bother to show up.
But what about the people who still crave a little human interaction, or have trouble using the technology? Is there a middle ground?
Turns out there is, but not exactly how you thought it might work. Last weekend this newsy item went viral on X and then spread across the social and news graphs. SanSan, a small fast food chicken chain in New York City, has installed not just touchscreens, but also monitors that effectively allow for Zoom cashiers to pop in, ready to assist as needed and provide a thin layer of customer service. It’s just that the virtual cashiers are in the Philippines.
It’s a brilliant idea, to be honest. The minimum wage in the Philippines is $3.75 an hour, compared to New York City’s $16, and once you factor in all other labor expenses here in the States, like Workmen’s Comp, that Zoom cashier costs only about 10% as much as they would in NYC. Ding ding ding.
Naturally, there will be critics, in part because it is still less than personal compared to how we did things in the old days (meaning pre-COVID), and because they are outsourcing labor. The latter is a bone of contention that won’t go away, as long as there are global economies with workers willing and able to perform for much less than their US counterparts.
Lest you think that SanSan has completely stripped the process of American culture, customers are presented with the opportunity to tip the cashier on their screen, something that probably would not happen if you were in the Philippines. Tipping culture is alive and well, even onscreen.
This is not the first time that video cashiers have been used, and the Philippines is not the only labor source. Basically, wherever you have reliable internet and willing workers, this is a very real option. The digital era reveals itself in yet another way.
There is an upside, of course, and that is the face on the screen is connected to SanSan’s ordering system, and can help customers if they make mistakes or have special requests. Not everyone feels comfortable using the technology (I’m looking at old people, myself excluded).
Digital Natives (meaning Gen-Zers) will have no problem placing an order, because it is little different from everything else they have done online and with touchscreens. But for those whom find this all a little bit rattling, having someone to hold your hand and settle your anxieties is a good thing.
What’s next, though? If SanSan or any of the others need or want to trim even more labor costs, the next logical step is a digital assistant like Alexa or Siri. This will require a hefty commitment to AI, but at the same time may still fall short of the human touch who would easily know how to add extra soy sauce or not use fish sauce, for example.
I suspect, though, that this is where we are headed. We can also find some comfort in knowing that the digital naysayers are, sadly and yet quite literally, a dying breed. But know ye this truth as well: You too will get old one day—if you live long enough—and you may very well find yourself as the future grumpy old person who can’t or won’t adapt to whatever is the new thing then.
If I were in NYC, I’d stop by SanSan in a heartbeat, and even go out of the way to do so. I want to see this in the wild, not just in a news report. And if it’s not busy, I’d strike up a conversation with that cashier halfway around the world. There have to be some stories waiting to be told.

Celebrating the Allstar Power of Women AirAsia Philippines mounts all-female flight; launches All Women Lane
Manila, 8 March 2024 - Championing Gender Equality and Inclusivity, AirAsia Philippines has mounted an all female flight to kick off the National Women’s Month and in celebration of the International Women’s Day.
With more than 700 female Allstars or 37% of the whole AirAsia Philippines population, a woman’s contribution to the daily operation of the airline cannot be ignored.
“Gone are the days when women were enclosed in gender biased roles. Today, you’d see them sweating but never complaining despite being exposed to harsh elements, performing their functions as flight engineers, mechanics, ramp agents, and marshallers. Day in and out, the women of AirAsia always make sure that our beloved guests are all taken care of, leaving no tables unturned to ensure that everyone lives up to the brand promise of being the world’s best,” AirAsia CEO Ricky Isla shares.
Flights Z2-223, Z2-224, Z2-420, and Z2-421 were commanded by Captain Jasmin Timola and First Officer Nicolette Trisha Castaneda, who decided to pursue their career whilst being full-time moms. Senior Cabin Crew Mhea Salvador, and Cabin Crew Thalia Javier, Demii Marvick Fernando, and Jamessy Lee Asok meanwhile warmly greeted guests who were en route to their weekend vacation in Boracay and Bohol. The all female flight aims to inspire guests to pursue their dreams and show that women can also excel in a male dominated industry.
“A first-time flyer will no longer be terrified during his flight because those in command in the sky, pilots and cabin crew alike will always reassure them that safety is paramount to us, and that they can sleep soundly because we are experts who constantly train and update ourselves with the latest procedures”, Mr. Isla added.
To make the celebration extra special, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline also dedicated two “All Women (check-in) Lane” at the NAIA Terminal 2 in honor of all the resilient and hardworking women.
In support of the Philippine Commission on Women’s advocacy of promoting women empowerment, a special Women’s Day PAA-Talk session - AirAsia’s internal talk series with the theme “Women make it work: Driving Inclusivity and Championing Equality in the workplace” was also held at the AirAsia Red Point headquarters. The airline’s big role in empowering female Allstars in the workplace was among the main discussion of the session.
PCW Officer-in-Charge, Atty. Khay Ann Magundayao-Borlado lauded AirAsia Philippines’ support to the celebration.
“AirAsia's initiative to mount an all-female flight to Boracay and Palawan showcases the capabilities and contributions of women in aviation. May this serve as an inspiration for young women and girls that they can thrive even in traditionally male-dominated career options.
With women juggling various roles at home, work, business, and their communities everyday of their lives, AirAsia’s dedication of "All Women Lanes" is one fitting and symbolic way to ease their multiple burdens and celebrate their contributions in our society, even for just a day.
This move not only celebrates International Women's Day but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity in all sectors. #WEcanbeEquALL”, Atty. Magundayao-Borlado shares.

History of National Blueberry Pancake Day
While putting blueberries in pancakes is a more modern practice, this history of pancakes probably goes back several centuries. Originally pancakes would not have been as sweet as they are today, but the creation of a paste made from wheat that is then fried in a pan, or even directly on the hot ashes of an open fire, may go back as far as 30,000 BC, during the stone age.
In fact, researchers have found something like pancakes in the stomach of Otzi the Iceman, who was preserved in the ice for at least 5000 years!
Of course, various recipes for these early versions of pancakes eventually developed to include milk, eggs, oil, fruit and even ingredients that wouldn’t be used today, such as cheese, potash or cabbage. But because blueberries are native to North America, it took some time until they were part of the evolution of the pancake.
Today, blueberries are known as a “superfood” but even hundreds of years ago, Native Americans knew how great they were and would use them for medicinal and health purposes. Once Europeans made their way west, they learned about how amazing blueberries truly are, but they still continued to only grow in the wild until the early 1900s, when a farmer and botanist were able to domesticate them.
Eventually, settlers in the New World began including blueberries not only in their own recipes but also in other products such as cosmetics and alcohol. And, eventually, of course, they made their way into pancakes, which is the very reason for the celebration of this particular day.
And now, it’s time for the celebration of National Blueberry Pancake Day!
How to Celebrate National Blueberry Pancake Day
Getting involved with celebrating this day can be loads of fun–and super delicious as well! Get inspired with some of these ideas for making the most of National Blueberry Pancake Day:
Go Out for National Blueberry Pancake Day
Select diners and restaurants participate in the day, serving up extra special, and – of course – extra big, stacks of pancakes oozing with delicious blueberries all day long. Since this day is the celebration of all things related to blueberry pancakes, it’s quite likely that some restaurants that serve them will be offering special discounts or coupons for their customers in honor of the day!
What could be better than celebrating at a place that has “pancake” in the name?! Although the selections tend to change each year, IHOP (International House of Pancakes), is a US chain that has been known to offer deals for this day in the past. With locations in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and many international stores (including United Arab Emirates, Mexico, the Philippines and Canada), it’s easy to find a fix of blueberry pancakes at a nearby IHOP.
Make Blueberry Pancakes at Home
This is one day when it is perfectly acceptable to eat blueberry pancakes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert with no guilt or judgment. Why not check out some recipes and have some fun creating twists on the classic pancake recipe, and be sure to stock up on blueberries for those inevitable second helpings!
Some people find it’s easiest to just whip up a bowl full of batter that comes from a box of pancake mix–and really, who is going to know? But, for those who are purists, or just don’t happen to have any pancake mix in the pantry, making them from scratch is fairly easy and only requires a few ingredients: flour, baking powder (for leavening), salt, sugar (white or brown) milk, eggs, vanilla, melted butter and, of course, blueberries.
Try Out a Variation on Blueberry Pancakes
While a basic pancake recipe sprinkled with blueberries is certainly a classic that no one is going to turn their nose up at, today might be a great day to get creative and try out a new twist on this special favorite. Any of these recipe ideas can easily be made vegan by substituting almond or oat milk for dairy, as well as coconut oil and/or greek yogurt instead of butter.
Cornmeal Blueberry Pancakes. Cornmeal and coconut oil add a delicious flavor and a texture that is to die for.
Lemon Poppyseed Blueberry Pancakes. Take everything one step further by adding lemon juice, lemon zest, and topped with pure maple syrup. It’s like the flavors of a favorite blueberry muffin and a lemon poppyseed muffin, all rolled into one.
Blueberry Pancake Poppers. Using a regular pancake batter but made in mini muffin tins, these little treats can be easily popped into your mouth at any time!
Blueberry Oat Pancakes. Make things a bit healthier (and gluten free!) by using oats and oat flour, rather than wheat flour.
Share Some Blueberry Pancakes
While a pile of blueberry pancakes with a pat of butter and real maple syrup is delicious even when eaten alone, wouldn’t they be even better when shared with someone else you love?! Grab a friend, family member, neighbor or coworker and get ready to enjoy a big old stack of yummy breakfast food in honor of National Blueberry Pancake Day!
Learn About Blueberry Health Benefits
Although pancakes certainly aren’t the healthiest food around, there are ways to make them better for you by making them vegan, using oats, and throwing in a handful of blueberries. As a superfood, blueberries have all sorts of health benefits that can take a carb-filled breakfast and add at least a few vitamins and antioxidants. Here are some of the ways blueberries bring health benefits to the body:
Blueberries are a low-calorie, high-nutrient food that are made up of approximately 85% water.
Filled with Vitamin C & VItamin K as well as manganese, these little purple fruits also contain quite a bit of fiber (4 grams in a 1-cup serving).
Want to be protected against aging and cancer? Then blueberries are a great friend! High in antioxidants, this fruit has the powerful ability to neutralize those highly damaging free radicals.
In addition to preventing oxidation of DNA, the antioxidants in blueberries protect the LDL cholesterol in the blood from leading toward the development of heart disease. So, for some people, blueberries might play a small part in saving their lives!
