and my opinions bc im a very opinionated person

i would gladly accept ochako confessing her feelings for izuku in the next chapter because of course, it makes sense she'd want a sense of closure.

why? well, for one reason and it's definitely not the fact that i favor a different ship over izuocha. (kacchako, yea sue me or whatever.)

but i would definitely loathe the idea of them eventually dating after her confession.

they both have ptsd.

on the other hand, ochako literally isolated herself from her classmates to mourn over her loss. basically the saying "i won but at what cost?" himiko died right next to her even though ochako's main objective was to "save" her and potentially change her mind of being a villain. but what happened was himiko willingly gave all of her blood to ochako because apparently she didn't want her to die after stabbing her multiple times. just because she can. (i hate togachako shippers to this day.)

and its so evident and constantly implied. izuku has not smiled. once. i mean, he did when bakudeku shippers pointed it out when he was talking about katsuki in the same chapter. but when he remembered a glimpse of his conversation with spinner, he literally tweaked.

not to mention, imagine the whiplash he had seeing his literal best friend's, brother's even, dead corpse when he returned to the sky coffin at the war. and then also seeing him back to life, AND THEN SEEING HIM IN THE BRINK OF DEATH ONCE AGAIN. it's fucking crazy.

i don't even think izuku sorted his emotions enough after all that. it makes sense the possibility that he thinks he doesn't deserve to smile anymore. it's a personal theory.

imagine how ochako must've felt being saved by the person she wanted to morally save. ochako literally might think she's a failure, too. there's a possibility there's a wide range of negative emotions she's going through.

so i personally cannot stand the idea of them becoming a thing after all that's happened. to them. to their world. to the place they wanted to change.

if anything, i want them to mourn together.

i want them to cry it all out while looking at the city. they're only 16/17. they can date in the future. there's still so much growth they have to go through psychologically before being able to romantically love another person.

i just don't see it as a priority right now.

neither do i see it a priority for anyone in class 2a, or the other heroes in general.

it's not a shoujo manga, you guys. it's a tragic story about a war of morals.

everybody’s always on writing prompts like “what if there was a world where everyone had a timer ticking down to their death… but you met someone whose timer said infinity!” or “what if everyone had their cause of death tattooed across their forehead… but you met someone whose forehead said THE CREATURE!” Enough -

enough. stop with the shock value. there is no need to insert THE CREATURE; the benign concept of such a world is horrifying enough. not even in urgency, but just in banal, everyday interaction. imagine you meet someone and their timer says two years. not tomorrow, not urgently soon, but two years. enough to do quite a lot. they could fall in love in that time - could they get engaged? have a baby? you might otherwise get to know them, befriend them, but perhaps you opt not to, make a conscious choice not to invest in your own grief. what balancing act would every individual person have to participate in - I have ten years, is that long enough to be a good mother to children? is that long enough to secure a caretaker for my own mother? my wife will die a few months before me. my newborn’s timer reads nineteen years.

and cause of death. you interview for a job and emblazoned across the healthy, smiling face of the HR lady is MALNUTRITION. your country is prospering, safe, but every person you meet on the street from the babies to the old women read BOMB. BOMB. what kind of havoc would fate wreak on the world? what about the loss of privacy? how would that shape our notions of hope? idk man I think a lot of those ancient poems were right, and the fates are monsters. I’m interested by the framing of these ideas as trite horror tales when the premises themselves are so much more disturbing if simply taken to their logical ends

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"

just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
