it's always worth your time to examine why you like a character. especially if you're drawn to one or two characters more than any other in an ensemble cast, especially if one or both of them are not main characters!
are they white? (yes. they're almost always white). i'm not even going to ask if they're a man, that would be moot.
alright. now, look me in the eye and tell me it's not because they're white. if you can, i'll know you for a liar.
when you list off the qualities, plot points, and potential that drew you to your blorbo, you probably won't mention their race or their gender! but you're a fool if you think that doesn't factor in.
#this is about stiles/derek dominating teen wolf even though scott is right there#and canonically codependent and loving with stiles#this is about the DEARTH of maverick/hondo content in top gun#despite those two sharing some of the most heartfelt scenes in the movie and a good chunk of screen time#this is about how no one really enjoys writing rhodey for mcu#and certainly not paired with tony#this is about the outpouring of people who appeared to cheer on tommy kinard in 911#this is about the stranger things fandom's obsession with billy hargrove#this is about how duke and cassandra are afterthoughts for the batfam fandom#hand to god? this is also about how hard it was to come up with recs for someone#for fics about leia organa#not INVOLVING her. but ABOUT her.#and so help me god: making the poc or the woman the pov character#so they can gush about how weird or cool or beloved your precious white boy is#DOES. honestly, my fury at the lack of werewolf culture/history/worldbuilding is worthy of its own post. Let me know if by some ungodly chance, you actually wanna hear my thoughts on it // Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
ohmygod yes, pls, enable me.
SO.
I think I mentioned b4 that Teen Wolf hates werewolves.
This is a show about werewolves like, yeah, sure, they do other plots and stuff. But the main character is a werewolf. The vast majority of the cast are werewolves (at least in the first half of the show). But think about it. What do we actually know about werewolves? They uhh, they shift on the full moon. But like, what about the full moon? Cus’ Scott gets handcuffed to a radiator and he doesn’t shift and break out until the moon comes out from behind the clouds and he screams like it’s excruciatingly painful for him. But then Derek and his Betas are underground during their full moon, and they shift like it’s all fine and dandy (they’re furious, but there’s no pain) and it doesn’t matter whether they can see the moon or not. They, uhh, they’re allergic to wolfsbane/it’s poisonous to them (btw it’s poisonous to literally everyone, just the scent of it is enough to cause seizures and hallucinations in humans. It’s a whole other frustration that they won’t make up their fucking minds abt it. It’s one thing to say that this is some parallel universe where wolfsbane doesn’t poison humans (bc lydia makes them hallucinate with the punch but injesting that much wolfsbane should kill you, and Stiles straight pulls a plant out of the ground; should’ve caused itching, burning, a cough, nausea, fever, headache and More hallucinations) and yet Jackson has to see a doctor and gets told he’s got Aconite Poisoning. So WHAT IS THE TRUTH?) but apparently not enough for Derek not to be able to plant a wolfsbane plant and massive cord of roots (which he would’ve had to tie together himself) in a revenge spiral around Laura’s body. But just being around it causes wolves to lose control. But also there’s supposed to be different strains that do different things? And also sometimes you burn the wolfsbane and it becomes the cure, or you have to burn it out of them or you just cut it out of them? Make UP Your MIND or at least ACKNOWLEDGE that different strains do different things. They get stronger on a full moon. But does that mean they get infinitely stronger with every full moon they experience? Does that mean they get weaker during new moons? They’re stronger in packs. Okay, but they never establish what the fuck a pack is. Is it an agreement? Is it a magical bond? Scott just sort of says people are in his pack. Does that mean they are? Do the humans he knows make him stronger? Just how strong is this bond? Derek makes a claim that “You have your own pack now” so is that a joke, was he mocking scott? Or is he saying that there’s no need for an Alpha and just being a beta with some friends counts as a pack? Apparently they have some kind of...animal magnetism or mind control? Derek uses a funny voice and a guy wakes up from a near coma to look at him with seemingly no control. Peter can force Scott to shift up. Derek forces Isaac to shift down. Derek has an insane amount of control over dogs and makes one lose its fucking mind from like a hundred feet away? Scott makes one calm down, but derek sends attack dogs running with their tails between their legs. Is it actual control or is it just a persuasion? Is it just intimidation? I haven’t even gotten to culture. You’re telling me that we get an entire episode of Allison discovering the entire story behind the Argent clan’s origins as werewolf hunters, why they started, how her name means Silver and apparently that’s where the entire myth of silver hurting werewolves comes from, but we don’t get to know anything about the first werewolves? Where they come from? If they’re a form of evolution or just straight magic or if it’s a curse or a gift from the gods? There’s an entire hidden werewolf population with packs all over the world, but somehow there’s literally no wolf culture? No moon worship? No specific terminology (Alpha, Beta, and Omega are terms used by a really fucking stupid biologist who studied frantic wolves in captivity and cast aspersions on the entire species. He’s been disproven a Thousand Times. NONE of that Alpha, Beta, Omega shit is right. Packs aren’t Hierarchies of Dominance. They’re families. They’re led by two wolves, yes, an “alpha pair” that’s literally JUST THE PARENTS. THE ‘BETAS’ ARE THEIR KIDS. This terminology makes sense if used by HUNTERS who consider werewolves to be mindless dumb animals. WHY THE FUCK would werewolves use it to DESCRIBE THEMSELVES?) besides the absolute minimum of ‘I caught a scent?’ Are you serious? Then there’s werewolf ages. Oh my god that was so fucking lazy. Saying that werewolves don’t age like humans, but that Cora is seventeen “by human standards” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? I’ve seen theories that go so many different ways. The idea that Werewolves live really long lives because of the superhealing. The idea that they live really short lives because their healing just burns through their body really quickly. The idea that their lifespan is directly correlated to the amount of damage they take because they can only heal so much, so wolves who get hurt a lot age faster than wolves who don’t. There’s NO explanation! You’d think it might be an interesting point for Scott to find out that he’s gonna live to fucking 200 years old. (How old is Satomi again?) That sounds like something a Teenager would be daunted by. We see them make fun of Stiles a few times because he believes werewolf myths about silver, and then because he believes Peter when Peter tells him he lives in a series of underground caves. But like...why not? THESE ARE WEREWOLVES why did you just make them humans with extra facial hair? Where are the traditional mating rituals (or even the concept of a mate/life partner, can you imagine how interesting that would’ve been? If Scott found out Allison was his mate? Or if he suddenly had all these weird urges around her, like rubbing their foreheads together or cuddling her way too much or wanting to bring her food? That would’ve been fascinating and hilarious as subplots for their romance!) where are the full moon runs or pack get-togethers? Where are the aversions to perfumes or cologne? Where are literally any animal behaviors besides AGGRESSION? Where is the den-making? Can werewolves eat fast food or does the grease bug them? Talia was a famous Alpha bc she could full shift. Does anyone know why she could do that? “Evolution” is a bullshit answer, let’s be real. It’s shitty writing and it put Derek through so much more than he deserved. THEY ACCIDENTALLY ESTABLISHED that ALL HALES can full-shift! IT’s NOT EVOLUTION. It’s BIRTHRIGHT. Talia fullshifted. Peter full-shifted (though his was distorted into the monster thingy. That wasn’t anything like Deucalion’s shift. It was a FULL SHIFT) Laura could full shift bc she did it after she died. No other werewolves on the show turned into full wolves after death, even if they died with wolfsbane in their system? MALIA could full-shift into a coyote. LITERALLY EVERY HALE except Cora and that’s bc she got booted back to South America COuld FULL SHIFT (and it never happened after they lost all of their wolf powers, that coud’ve been an interesting plot if they didn’t FUCK IT UP.) But still there’s no explanation, or even just acknowledgement? You don’t have to spell it out for us, but at least SAY “Hey, so the Hale family is really powerful and all of us can full-shift. Not sure why, but it’s neat.) I’m still stuck on rituals. Routines. Werewolf mores. Social cues. Are there certain smells they’re supposed to ignore? Is it polite to pretend you don’t hear someone coming up to your house until they knock? Do they have rules about waiting until the Alpha eats before they start eating (much like how lots of traditional households wait for the father to dig in, or whoever is head of household)? Is it tradition to homeschool werewolves for the first few years until they learn control? Are there seriously no rules about biting humans? You don’t have to talk to their parents or have a specific conversation with them? And if werewolves are so dominance/hierarchy based, then you’re telling me there’s no “second-in-command” or respectful greetings that are supposed to be used for an Alpha? There’s absolutely no form of werewolf government or ancient laws or anything except a big spiral that is universally recognized as a sign youre gonna kill people? What was the wolfsbane around Laura’s body for? Why make the spiral out of that instead of just drawing in the dirt or something? We make a lot of jokes about Derek being bad with his words, but so is Peter and so is Cora. And they’re the only born wolves we interact with (except Satomi who ALSO isn’t a chatterbox) What if that’s not just because they’re all traumatized and cranky? What if they’re just speaking on a different level? Scents and body language are integral to wolf interaction. Like how we say that Peter has that conversation with Derek’s eyebrows? What if Derek’s so fucking pissed all the time because he hates talking to Scott because SCott ISN”T LISTENING to his body language and scent and chemosignals? He tells Scott to use all his senses, and Scott does it fucking once to say that Peter felt “Angry” and never again. What if Derek is Talking PLENTY (with his body and movements and reactions) but Scott just isn’t paying attention? Isaac seems to understand Derek just fine. Erica and Boyd never complain that Derek is lying to them or ‘keeping something’ from them? What if the reason Scott always thinks Derek’s hiding something is because he isn’t reading the rest of Derek’s conversation and he assumes that the empty feeling is Derek lying. Even STILES seems to understand Derek. He’s human, but he goes totally wolfy. He already uses body language a lot and while he gets mad at Derek he never has to ask what the fuck derek is saying or what he’s holding back. I digress. I wanna know why no other packs came to help Derek and Laura after their family died. I wanna know why Emissaries and Druids are so incredibly important to the supernatural/werewolf world but Derek barely knew they existed (Especially when it’s established that he know tons of lore about other species.) and even though every single pack should have an emissary, they never handle who is the emissary for Derek’s pack or for Scott’s pack (Once again, is an emissary bound to their pack somehow or is it just an agreement?). I wanna know why Derek knew Satomi and trusted her but for some reason never felt like he could ask her for help? Centuries of hiding and living amongst humans with almost no wolf behavior to their name, but none of these packs interact? There’s Druid Vets and Hunter cops and Emissary counselors. But no werewolf doctors? No werewolf teachers? Absolutely no werewolf society? If Derek was worried about Paige not accepting that he was a werewolf unless she became one, what does that say about his experience with humans? He says “there were people in my family that were perfectly ordinary in that house” who died in the fire. But wouldn’t he talk to a human pack member about his worries, if he had one? Or even a bitten pack member? He admits he doesn’t know how to train a Bitten wolf. He’s never been called out by a human pack member for using phrases like ‘caught a scent’ or for reacting to things he shouldn’t. Does this mean Derek’s family was entirely werewolves? No humans in the know? No bitten wolves? He has a huge thing about keeping the secret and never letting anyone in on it unless they get dragged into it. Did Derek’s pack have some kind of prejudice against humans? Was Derek raised to believe humans were weak or cowardly or something, that he thought this beautiful girl would automatically hate him and expose him if she were to discover the supernatural without being forced into silence by self-preservation.
Lots of times, it’s easy to forget in this fandom that so much is missing, because we’ve been filling in the gaps for so long that some stuff is practically canon. It’s generally assumed that the Hales were homeschooled before high school. It’s generally assumed that there’s some kind of bond that marks people as pack. We instinctively add in mentions of Scent and the use of the shift (growling, claws, a hint of fang, flashing eyes) as part of the casual communication between characters. We add in scent-marking and territory boundaries and specific roles in the pack. We do all of that and never think twice because it’s already in all the fic. But we did that. The show gave us nothing. It spent an entire season talking about the nogitsune and the oni and how they’re summoned and what kitsune fox tails are for, but we never got to find out why wolves can do the pain-drain (or even if it dissipates the pain or just transfers it to the wolf doing the draining) or if Derek Hale EVEN HAS A DAD.

Miranda’s Fic Recs
I’ve been wanting to do this for a while because I just have a lot of fics in different fandoms that I truly enjoy. These are mostly long fics because that’s what I read the most. Fandoms included: Teen Wolf, Harry Potter, MCU, Star Trek, Kingsman, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Find them below! (Some fanfic spoilers ahead)
So I’m starting with completed fics and then I have a few not completed fics at the end that I’m just really liking.
Embers by Vathara
Rating: Not Rated, Word Count: 704,200 Fandom: A:TLA
Dragon’s fire is not so easily extinguished; when Zuko rediscovers a lost firebending technique, shifting flames can shift the world....
This is an Avatar: The Last Airbender rewrite. It’s Zuko centric and it splits off while Zuko and Uncle Iroh are on the run and Zuko learns of healing firebending. The world building is so good and interesting and the whole fic does a great job of reimagining the A:TLA world. You meet a lot of new characters that are super well written and fit the world nicely.
The Debt of Time by ShayaLonnie
Rating: E, Word Count: 715,940, Fandom: Harry Potter, Ship: Hermione/Sirius
When Hermione finds a way to bring Sirius back from the veil, her actions change the rest of the war. Little does she know her spell restoring him to life provokes magic she doesn’t understand and sets her on a path that ends with a Time-Turner.
This fic is so good and I’ve reread it before. I love Hermione centric fics and this is definitely one. When she goes back in time she goes through school again with the Marauders and it’s so good you guys. I think the fic does such a good job of showing her grow with these new people. The relationships in this fic are so intense and I love them.
Hook, Yarn, Sinker by pprfaith
Rating: Not Rated, Word Count: 65,675, Fandom: Teen Wolf, Ship: Stiles/Peter
Stiles is happy with his store, his hobbies, his friends. Peter’s just trying to figure out how to raise his nieces and nephews without fucking them up too badly.
Paths cross.
This is the first in a series of fics. It’s a Human AU with aged up Stiles and friends but with little kids Derek, Laura, and Cora. This fic is a good time and sweet and honestly low stakes which is so nice to have these days. I think a lot of Steter fics are more intense and I enjoy them but this is such a nice change of pace where you really get to know the characters in these fairly different circumstances. The whole series word count is 161,859.
A Sequence That You Never Learned by AnnaTaylor
Rating: E, Word Count: 64,624, Fandom: Star Trek: AOS, Ship: James T. Kirk/Spock
“Spock,” Jim breathes out, completely overwhelmed by the gesture—not quite believing that Spock knows him so well, that he’s already started researching, that he trusts Jim with a member of his own endangered species.
When Jim gets it in his head to adopt an eight-year-old Vulcan, Spock presents a logical solution to the issue of Jim’s of humanity: marriage to a Vulcan citizen.
This was one of my first Spirk fics and I honestly love kid fics. Vulcan kids are so different from Jim, but I love the idea that Vulcans still love him anyway. This is such a great Fake Marriage fic.
If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out by mia6363
Rating: E, Word Count: 13,232, Fandom: Teen Wolf, Ship: Stiles centric but technically Stiles/Peter
Commander Stilinski looks like he fell out of a propaganda video, his armor still smoking as he pulled off his helmet and handed it off to First Officer Argent. He had a few bruises down his neck but his smile was bright.
“Glad to see you safe and sound, Mr. Hale. I’d hate for Derek to lose a member of his family.”
“I told you,” Derek snapped at his superior, “he’s not worth this, Commander.”
This is the shortest fic on my list but I love this take. It’s got a Star Trek vibe and I LOVE how everyone is made into these different aliens. Stiles being human here is so interesting and it reminds me of those “humans are the craziest of the aliens” posts. It’s got multiple POVs and I think they’re written really well and do a great job of coming together.
Where Thou Art, That is Home by ShanaStoryteller
Rating: Various, Word Count: 94,108, Fandom: Teen Wolf, Ship: Stiles/Derek
Stiles is 10 when he saves the Hales from their burning home and Derek from a wolfsbane bullet, and this establishes a pattern that seems to continue indefinitely.
“Then he’s facing a burning home, and he wraps the hood of his sweatshirt around his mouth before he pushes the door open and steps inside. There’s Mr. Hale asleep - he hope asleep - on the couch, next to - Stiles thinks that’s his brother but there are so many Hales, who can keep track. He rushes over and starts shaking him, can see the rise and fall of the man’s chest so he knows he’s alive, but he’s not waking up. He shoves away his hood so he can shout, “Mr. Hale! You have to get up, there’s a fire! Mr. Hale, get up!” Nothing, he’s not even twitching, both of them taking in deep even breathes like they’re having the most peaceful of rest, and Stiles is going to cry. “Wake up, wake up, wake up!”
There’s a moment where all Stiles can here is the blood rushing in his ears and not the roar of the flames or the creak of wood, then with a violent, silent pop it’s all back and both men are gasping awake, eyes open and jumping to their feet.”
This is another series! It creates a Hales Survive AU and it’s got BAMF!Stiles. The Hales in this fic are so interesting and it’s an expanded family from what we see in canon. Magic!Stiles is written so well in this fic and things get intense but it’s so good.
Counterpart by sara_holmes
Rating: M, Word Count: 217,400, Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ship: Steve/Tony
coun•ter•part [koun-ter-pahrt] [noun] 1. a person or thing closely resembling another, especially in function. 2. a copy; duplicate. 3. one of two parts that fit, complete, or complement one another.
Just because Hydra used the DNA of a Captain America from another dimension to create a lab-grown, six-year-old super-soldier, it doesn't mean that said six-year old super-soldier is biologically Steve's, right?
(Where Steve wants to ban Clint from bringing things home from alternative dimensions, until he doesn't.)
This is an amazing kid fic. Things are so messed up because of how the kids was raised up to the point they find him.I love Tony so much in this fic but also you sympathize a bit with Steve. The kid whose name I will leave out is my absolute favorite. This is also a series!
Fallout by Whisper91 kingsman
Rating: E, Word Count: 164,971, Fandom: Kingsman, Ship: Eggsy/Harry/Merlin
As far as the rest of the world is concerned, Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin is a registered Dominant. It's on his driver's licence. It's on his National Insurance card. Hell, it's even on his bloomin' GCSE certificates. And the fact that it's all a load of bollocks is a secret Eggsy had intended to take to his grave.
Course, he hadn't been expectin' a bloody sub-drop to sweep in and knock him on his arse in the wake of the Valentine Massacre. Turns out grief and adrenaline ain't a good combination.
I really enjoy the dynamics between the three of them. D/s fics are always so amazingly well built and I love fics like this where they’re hiding their dynamic. I think this fic does a great job of going further with the D/S world and giving it more biologically. I just reread this fic recently because I love how it’s done.
It’s Insanity But... by rosepetals42
Rating: M, Word Count: 71,477, Fandom: Teen Wolf, Ship: Stiles/Derek
The doorbell interrupts what had turned out to be quite the epic shoe hunt but, really, he’s grateful for the break. Or at least, he is until he heads down the stairs to grab the door, trips over a stuffed animal of some kind, bashes his head on the wall and barely manages to catch himself from falling down the entire flight of stairs. As with all things, Stiles would like to state, for the record, that this is Scott’s fault.
Or: Scott and Stiles are raising seven children. Derek is the entertainer they hire for a birthday party (not a clown though, he’s very specific on that fact.)
This fic is such a good time! I love two bro’s raising kids together. It’s a hilarious setup and also just so good for the Stiles and Scott dynamic. Each chapter is like a slice of life. Some chapters are more about the kids and some are about Stiles and Derek. It’s just a fun fic and I love that it’s still got werewolves because I think a lot of fics that focus more on regular stuff go full on human AU. Keeping werewolves is much more fun and it’s so well handled here!
So Wise We Grow by Deastar
Rating: M, Word Count: 81,248, Fandom: Star Trek, Ship: James T. Kirk/Spock
”Commander Spock, we have located your son,” the Vulcan lady on the screen says, which would be great, except Jim can tell by the look on Spock’s face that he’s never heard of this kid before in his life. “If it is expedient, the child will be sent to join you on the Enterprise within the week.”
This fic is two long chapters. Again, I love kid fic and this one does such a great job. We’ve got pining and hurt/comfort and all kinds of good feels here. There’s one line about t’hy’la that is just *chefs kiss* so good and hits you hard.
Play It Again by metisket
Rating: T, Word Count: 63,206, Fandom: Teen Wolf, Ship: Stiles/Derek
In which Stiles goes along with one of Derek’s plans and ends up in an alternate universe as a result. He should’ve known better. He did know better, actually, and that means he has no one to blame but himself. “Laura wants to lure the kid in with food and kindness and make a pet of him, like a feral cat. Derek wants to have him arrested for stalking. They’re at an impasse. (And the rest of the family is staying emphatically out of it in a way that suggest bets have been placed.)”
This is fairly Stiles centric. It really looks into the emotions of jumping universes. The alive Hale family is so good and it’s magic!Stiles which is always interesting. What I think makes it extra good is that in a lot of universe jump or time travel fics it’s more about adjusting to how things will be now. But this fic does that while also having the new universe with its own problems. It’s just fun to see Stiles deal with all these things.
Happy Lights by LadyShadowDrake
Rating: E, Word Count: 108,237, Fandom: MCU, Ship: Mixed
An interdimensional portal opens over New York and drops a tentacled alien in the middle of Central Park. The Avengers are called out to investigate, and hopefully return the visitor home. Steve has been brushing up on his diplomacy, but he never expected to be a liaison to an alien in such an intimate capacity, or that the alien would be so friendly, and the unusual visit turns into the world's best team-building exercise.
This is a series that is so much fun. The alien (aka the colony) is so interesting and sweet in the long run. I love seeing the team grow and as you go through the series you really get to see more of them coming together. This is just a playful fic that you can have a good time reading.
Magpie by waldorph
Rating: E, Word Count: 57,648, Fandom: Star Trek: AOS, Ship: James T. Kirk/Spock
Spock met Jim when he was 7 and Jim was 6. It has since been generally agreed that this was a mistake (or: the one where they grew up together and things are simultaneously better and worse for it).
This is such a deep dive of both Spock and Jim. It’s them growing up together and it splits off some as far as events that happen in canon. It ends before they become Starfleet. I think this fic creates such an interesting bond between Spock and Jim. I also really love where it goes as far as Spock not having grown up alone on Vulcan.
These are the unfinished fics. The first two are in progress and the last one seems to be abandoned.
Survival is a Talent by ShanaStoryteller
Rating: T, Word Count: 353,015, Fandom: Harry Potter, Ship: Harry/Draco
In the middle of their second year, Draco and Harry discover they're soulmates and do their best to keep it a secret from everyone.
Their best isn't perfect.
~
“Are you trying to get killed, Potter?” Malfoy drawls, stalking forward. Quick as a serpent himself, he reaches out and grabs the snake just below the head. It thrashes in his grip, but is no longer able to bite anyone. “This is a poisonous snake, and I doubt anyone brought a bezoar with them.”
Harry glares. He opens his mouth, and feels the beginning the snake’s language pass his lips, and this isn’t what he wants, what’s the point of insulting Malfoy if he can’t understand him –
Malfoy’s eyes widen. He slaps his hand over Harry’s mouth, “Potter, what the hell–”
This fic is in progress updated within 2020. It’s a rewrite of the Harry Potter series where Harry and Draco are soulmates. As you can imagine, that changes some things. I love this so much, I’ve read it like 3 or 4 times now. The characterization is amazing and I love the differences we see. Harry is Indian in this fic and the way it ties in is so good. You really get to see the difference in culture as well between muggleborns and blood traitor families and the purebloods.
You great unfinished symphony (you sent for me) by ketchupcrisp
Rating: E, Word Count: 227,792, Fandom: MCU, Ship: Steve/Tony and also the whole Team
The last thing Steve Rogers ever expected to see on a Wednesday afternoon was his (their) dead submissive tumbling out of a portal and practically into Phil’s lap, very much alive and frantic about Soul Stones and timelines and some other version of the team.
This is an AU but like literally. Tony comes from the universe we know into a D/S universe. The worldbuilding here - again like I think a lot of D/s fics excel at - is so good. It starts with everything a mess and things are intense. There’s multiple POVs which I think is really helpful in a fic like this where the relationships are so tangled.
Born From the Earth by venusm
Rating: E, Word Count: 277,602, Fandom: MCU, Ship: Tony Centric, Steve/Tony
Tony Stark's born an omega in a world where that means he's supposed to follow certain social rules. He becomes Iron Man anyway: Fuck biology.
If only his biology (and the world) would quit fucking him back.
To start off, some warnings: this fic gets a bit messed up. It’s an Omega verse in the worst possible way at certain points. It’s not a fluffy fic. It also doesn’t get that far into the Stony stuff because it’s unfinished. Honestly I’m worried this writer has died and I’ve gone through the comments and looked for them online to see if they’re out there and just not writing but I haven’t found any proof of that. BUT ANYWAYS. This fic is intense but it’s such an interesting take on Omega fics. It gets pretty dark but that darkness is pre-Steve and I’m hopeful that one day it might get finished so I can see where it was going to go.

Teen Wolf
Welcome to a friend / roommate request for Sadie based off Teen Wolf. Ultimately this all just comes down to found family and everyone (or almost everyone) living in the same building being rented to them by the resident 'old man hangs out with young adults' landlord. Most of the characters will have known each other since 18 if not before, but while I've written mostly actual information about the characters, they're definitely more of guidelines in some parts due to the different universe mechanics. I've given three ideas for classes for each character but they're definitely suggestions and make the characters your own.
CONTENT WARNING This request contains references to family death, child abuse, and just generally shitty backstories.
( find part 2 here )
Stiles Stilinski
Open ✖ 22-24 ✖ Hexes & Cursebreaking / potions / alchemy ✖ open
✖ Occupation: Student
✖ Short Bio: Hyperfocused, sarcastic, witty, loyal to his friendships but not the best influence due to his own boredom and curiosity. mother died when he was younger and father has a 24/7 job basically so he raised himself, and maybe an 11 year old with an insatiable and dark curiosity shouldn’t have been left to his own devices. definitely got warned several times for his underage magic experiments but due to his age never really got in real trouble. honestly doesn’t really like most people and once you’re in his friend group and he accepts you, you are his prime priority. unfortunately sometimes his loyalty turns dark, and he’s more than willing to cause harm to those who cause harm to his group. is tempered a lot by the rest of the group but rarely should be left alone with Erica because they have the same sort of feelings about that. there’s a faint rivalry between isaac and stiles since scott adopted isaac into the group and stiles still harbors insecurity and a grudge for how easily isaac got scott’s attention when scott used to be stiles’ best and only friend. huge ex crush on lydia but now they they actually know one another, they are a terrifying duo of puzzle solving and thinking outside the box.

Open ✖ 22-24 ✖ Cryptozoology / animal magic / combat ✖ open ✖ Occupation: Student / After class job ✖ Short Bio: puppy ™, sees the good in almost everyone but also sees situations as what benefits people the most (if he doesn’t like you, might sell you for a cornchip if it gets someone he likes out of a sticky situation), is way too trusting and cares about almost everyone, thinks with his heart. definitely works outside of class with either kids or animals… or both. the sort of help out afterclass with cryptozoology and then tutor younger students if he knows the subject. lowkey dumb, but is a hard worker. raised by a single mom (and sort of stiles’ dad), he begrudgingly goes along with stiles’ schemes because who else is going to make sure stiles doesn’t go looking for a dead body and gets murdered? exes with allison, bromance with isaac and childhood friends / are they gay with stiles. kira and scott together are pure and great, even if his he still hasn’t gotten over his first love
Lydia Martin
Open ✖ 22-24 ✖ oneiromancy / necromancy / alchemy ✖ open ✖ Occupation: Student / Possibly a TA? ✖ Short Bio: #betterthanyou, brains and beauty, she used to dumb herself down in when she thought popular girls couldn’t be smart but quickly got bored of it and chose to dominate in class. stiles could probably give her a run for her money if he bothered to study at all but best he could do is second place to her first. intends on winning academic awards and wiping the floor with absolutely everyone. entirely possible she’s finished half the courses offered by now, multilingual to the extreme especially in various spell languages and is most likely to create new spells or be doing research into some half forgotten art. struggles a little with her ability but is determined to master it like everything else. best friends with allison and was on and off with jackson in the past. not here for any women vs women bullshit and well beyond the years where she ever thought she needed a man on her arm for status. as much as it’s really not her job to improve and change a man, she knows jackson better than anyone and does go to bat for him occasionally and helps him unlearn all his bullshit posturing, sometimes with understanding and sometimes with tough love.
Allison Argent
Open ✖ 22-24 ✖ combat / healing / folk magic ✖ open ✖ Occupation: Student / Head of Family Business ✖ Short Bio: beautiful smile, dimples, sunshine. is genuinely just a nice person with a pretty big physical training background from her family and was so lovely when they all met. now though, she’s learned more and more of her family’s backstory and cruelty, and the horrors have changed her. Older now, she works hard to be the best leader she can and guide her family to the right path. although her naivety has gone now, she’s still just Good ™ . Callous when she needs to be, she’s worked hard to get through her issues and find her own morals. wants to help people but is more in the middle of stiles and scott’s ideals, more suspicious and careful than scott, but less cynical than stiles. used to date scott and they were pure and in love until she found out her family secrets and pushed him away. dated isaac for a bit and there was always a weird feeling between the three of them, with both loving her and her loving them both. after erica and her buried the hatchet, she’s just happy to have more friends and tries not to get jealous when she sees kira and scott but first loves can be hard to let go even when the timing isn’t right anymore. jackson is definitely an ass, but he’s her swimming partner and an excellent person to talk to when you just want to bitch (specifically about scott or stiles)
Derek Hale
Open ✖ 26-30 ✖ herbology / healing / rural/folk magic ✖ open ✖ Occupation: Local Ghost (completely open, he can even be a student again if you want) ✖ Short Bio: the older friend who missed out on some of his teenage years due to tragedy, it’s a little weird that he’s always hanging around these younger adults. still, he’s mostly harmless and even a little pitiful and soft when you get through his aggressive defence. definitely a major concern when they first met, it was stiles who really dragged him into the group and showed compassion for the shitty things derek went through. historically has had a really shitty relationship with allison’s family but the two of them have worked through most of their issues. lost most of his family when he was a teenager and hasn’t entirely worked through his survivors guilt so although he likes to think he’s the dad of the group, he’s really just the somewhat incompetent older brother who tries his best. erica, boyd, and isaac tend to humor him but other people not so much. he progressed from leather jackets (he, erica, boyd and isaac all had matching ones that they sometimes pull out from retirement) to sweaters. progressed from a camaro to an suv. big literature nerd. with part of the life insurance payout, he bought an old apartment building they all live in and is doing it up, everyone else’s apartment first while his stays untouched.
Erica Reyes
Sadie van der Ven ✖ 22 ✖ illusion magic, scrying, healing ✖ cerise ✖ Occupation: student ✖ Short Bio: part one of the ‘didn’t used to have power and then suddenly came into their own’ squad. was once bullied for her looks and left out of things due to her health. always deeply concerned with proving herself, even if it’s dangerous for her. with an original family who didn’t know how to handle her, she kept pushing herself until she pushed too far. when she eventually had her power glowup, she let it go to her head and wanted to take revenge on those that teased her before. definition of ‘bullied girl glows up, seeks revenge’. big proponent of girls vs girls until she eventually settled and found out that teaming up and having fun was much more satisfying. huge crush on derek but who knew he wasn’t into teenage girls as a grown adult? just wants to feel powerful and uses magic and looks like armor against all her insecurity. big movie and comic nerd with stiles and had a crush on him throughout much of their first meeting before she joined the gang. listens almost exclusively to boyd in terms of being told not to do the thing, but if he’s not around… definitely up for getting into trouble. just insecurity in a pretty cover.
Vernon Boyd
Open ✖ 22-24 ✖ elemental magic, defense, cleromancy ✖ open ✖ Occupation: student ✖ Short Bio: part two of the ‘didn’t used to have power and suddenly came into their own’ squad, boyd is the only one who didn’t become a goshdarn nightmare when he started using magic properly. with how quiet he is, you’d think he wasn’t interested in being friends with anyone, or wanted to be anywhere else. this isn’t true. he loves being around people, he’s just silently judging all of them for bad choices. having spent a lot of his time looking after his younger siblings, he didn’t really have time to hang out after school and eventually ended up just sitting alone at lunch. worked hard after his siblings’ bedtime, he had a job to try bring more money into the family. he’s probably the only one who realises that derek chose him, erica, and isaac because they were lonely and insecure and while he thinks that’s super fucked up, he also realises derek is super fucked up too and gives him a break for it. while he’s not the absolute closest to derek in terms of sharing past trauma over lunch, is definitely derek’s favorite and probably best friend. big brother who keeps people in line but disappears into the shadows when it’s not really needed. big on his found family. you think he’s quiet but he’s just the only one who can control himself when it comes to actually saying the snarky things out loud…. mostly

“Standing up for me isn’t going to get me to date you. But I will consider the hearts of the coven as a rather impressive courting gift.”
Prompt fill for @wolverinesrogue | Read here on AO3!
***
“Listen,” Stiles tries, ignoring the annoyed huff of breath from Isaac and the way Derek rolls his eyes. He focuses on his best friend, on the boy who has felt like home since they were seven and they only had each other, and he tries to catch a glimpse of the little boy who had brushed the dirt out of his hair in the eyes of his Alpha. “The Witches aren't going to leave. I know that it's important to you that we give everyone a chance, I really do, but they aren't good. Peter has been able to tie them to the death of four different packs, and—”
“Peter is a liar!” Scott yells, cutting Stiles off with a flash of his eyes. Stiles is human—for the most part—and the show of dominance does nothing to him, but he still clicks his mouth shut at the ire in Scott's voice. “Peter is a murdering psychopath who doesn't care about any of us and is just trying to turn us against the Witches!”
“Scott—”
“No no, darling, let the little Alpha tell me how he really feels,” Peter drawls with a smirk. Stiles snorts at Peter using such a modern phrase, something the older man has certainly picked up during their time together. Still, the interruption is not appreciated, and he cuts his eyes over to the man to give him a quick look of disapproval before he turns back to Scott.
“Scotty,” he tries, falling back on the nickname that holds so much, “that isn't true. Peter isn't the same as he used to be. And I looked over the research myself, and I was able to fact check all of it with Da—”
“Look, I know that you want to get into his pants, but that doesn't mean he's changed! Just because you think he's hot doesn't mean he isn't still evil, Stiles. He isn't going to want to date you just because you stand up for him, I don't know how many times I have to tell you that!” Scott's voice drops to a low hiss, though it's still plenty loud enough for Stiles' human ears to hear from a couple of feet away. Take into account that they're in a room full of supernatural creatures and—yep, that's Stiles' heart stopping as his stomach fills with dread.
“Oh my god,” Stiles distantly hears Lydia mutter, but it's drowned out by Peter's voice purring, “You think I'm hot, sweetheart?”
“No,” Stiles snaps, not taking his eyes off his...well, off Scott. “No. I can't believe you just said that.”
“I'm sorry,” Scott says quickly, but Stiles knows it's because it’s expected of him and not because he means it. He's been learning to read Scott since they were kids, he knows what the face he's wearing means. “I didn't mean to say that.”
“Yes you did,” Lydia says before Stiles can. He flicks his eyes over to her for a second, but he ducks his head when he sees that she's watching him with pity. Not even a second later, Isaac poorly attempts to hide a laugh in a cough and Stiles leaves.
He doesn't say a single thing, and the silence is almost deafening as he grabs his bag from beside the couch and slings it onto his shoulder. He's never been gladder that he's stopped bringing his laptop to pack nights as he is in this moment. His shoes are still on, so he doesn't have to do anything but slide the loft's door open and slam it behind him before he's able to start freaking out.
The moment he's in the hall he takes a breath that rattles inside his chest as something that feels rather startling like grief wraps around his heart and makes his shoulders feel too heavy. It isn't a feeling he likes, nor one that he knows what to do with. Scott...isn't a good friend. It's something that Stiles has known since the other boy was first bitten by a rabid werewolf and their entire life got turned upside down.
But it's never been as glaringly obvious as it is in this moment; his ears still ringing with the secret Scott had exposed to the entire pack without a single care or thought of what it might cause. Stiles doesn't take the elevator. His skin feels tight enough as it is that he doesn't need to be enclosed in a rickety box of metal.
By the time Stiles has jogged down the four flights and across the parking lot, he's feeling marginally calmer. Oh, he's still furious and filled with a too familiar feeling of betrayal, but his eyes have stopped stinging and the tight lump in his throat has melted away. When he looks up from where he'd been watching his feet, he isn't even surprised to see Peter leaning against this jeep: tight V-neck and perfectly styled goatee highlighted by the moonlight and looking ridiculously attractive for it. Stiles rolls his eyes as he walks up to him, not at all surprised at finding the man there before him.
“You weren't going to leave without saying anything to me, were you, darling?” Peter purrs. Stiles doesn’t even understand how he manages to sound like that. It’s obnoxious and Stiles is not affected by it. At all.
“You can stop with the pet names,” Stiles snaps, snaking his arms around himself in a desperate bid for comfort. He doesn’t stop walking forward, because he wants to get into his Jeep and get home, but he also doesn’t ask Peter to move from his lean against the driver’s side door.
“I prefer to think of them as terms of endearment,” Peter says easily, his impressive arms crossed over his impressive chest and not at all distracting Stiles. “I think we have a few things that we should talk about.”
“No,” Stiles said quickly. He winces when a quick flash of hurt crosses the man’s face, and he rushes to say, “no, just. We don’t need to talk. I know you’re not interested, and I’m really working on getting over you.”
“Scott was right,” Peter says plainly, and Stiles’ entire body flinches painfully before he continues, “Standing up for me isn’t going to get me to date you. But I will consider the hearts of the coven as a rather impressive courting gift.”
A happy, crazed laughed bubbles past his lips, and he slaps both hands over his mouth to drown the noise out. “You’re crazy,” Stiles says from behind his hands, but he takes a couple of steps forward until he’s in Peter’s space, spurred on by the private smile the man is wearing.
“Crazy about you, sweetheart.”

under the sea part 10
how is everyone enjoing their new year??
https://archiveofourown.org/works/21310579/chapters/53174905
The funeral is a beautiful ceremony. Many have kind words to say about the boy.
Fallen warrior,
Friend,
Saviour,
Pack mate,
Family member,
Loved one.
When the empty casket is lowered into the ground no one says a word about the tears that are shed. The memorial lasts throughout the entire night. Contacts are exchanged, stories told, alcohol consumed. Apparently, he had found a diet for a wendigo, a substitution of human blood for vamps, had helped in negotiations between many disputes, and delivered information time after time to save those in need.
The sheriff stands silent and rigid next to the empty, closed casket. His eyes are red, but no tears make their way down his face. His breath smells like alcohol and he swayed when he walked up the hill. Next to him stands Melissa and a few deputy’s and friends. Most of them stand a little further away, some believe he did not do enough, some find it too uncomfortable to stand too close for too long. Sending condolences before walking away again. The supernatural among them stand a little farther off, none of them offer condolences. Not even the Hales. When the speeches begin the man does not make a move forward. No matter how insistent Melissa gets. She does speak. She speaks for a boy she loved like a son, a boy she will mourn like a son. When the first shovel of dirt is thrown on the box of wood a sob racks through the man’s body.
He is gone before the casket is covered in dirt, leaving Melissa alone.
---
It is about two and a half hours after the casket was lowered in the ground when the Hales leave the graveyard and head towards the loft. There, they regroup and take a moment to mourn without prying eyes, before heading back into town for the memorial.
It is roughly three hours after the casket was lowered in the ground when the McCall pack rolls back into town.
The teens are shocked with the number of supernatural creatures that are suddenly, and without their permission, in <em>their</em> town. That amount of supernatural and, well, almost everyone else, are appalled. Offended that these people who call themselves Stiles’ friends were not only safe and sound, instead of taken/eaten as well, which is what some had thought. No, they were also unforgivingly late for the funeral. A funeral that was set at a later date, so that as many people that wanted to come could make it.
However, it is the McCall alpha that makes the first move, followed by his pack he heads towards the centre of a group of visitors and demand answers. Standing tall, with an arrogant look on his face the alpha and his pack look at the people invading their territory. He gets laughed in the face. And then they get angry.
“If you are the alpha, how could you let this happen.”
“How can you let someone die on your watch.”
“Pretty impressive dead count for an alpha who claims not to kill. Do the citizens of this town just fall down dead themselves? Or is it a repercussion of your indecision to handle things.”
“How come he never spoke of you.”
“Where were you.”
“These woods are not claimed by you or yours. They are still loyal to the Hales.”
“What. What did you just say?” All the Hales are watching the dryad that just spoke. She only smiles at them before disappearing back in the crowd.
With more insults following, the young pack is quickly overwhelmed with the amount of hostility that is being poured over them. With a last “Run little wolves. Run.” they quickly turn around a go for a quick retreat and head out to regroup at the loft. Like they usually do.
In all the chaos none of them notice two familiar boys standing at the edge of the crowd.
---
When they finally get there they all quickly enter, only to find it locked behind their backs. Nervously they turn around.
“Did you really think I was just going to let you use my home. Use it like you <em>own<em> it. You might be a true alpha McCall, not that I know why anyone would make you one, but this is still Hale territory. This is still <em>my</em> building, <em>my</em> property, <em>my</em> house.” With a gulp the young alpha stands a little firmer, trying to assert his dominance. He has just opened his mouth when he is cut off again.
“I trusted you. I asked you, to take care of him. To make sure he did not get hurt. TO PROTECT HIM.” Derek roars. Seeing the fury in the other alphas eyes half the pack takes a step back.
“And what did you do little wolf? Hmmm.” This time its Peter that speaks. Appearing from behind them, like the creep that he is. A look around tells them that Malia is on the stairs, Peter by the window and Cora is standing in the entrance of the kitchen while Derek is still in front of the door. Surrounded, they are surrounded.
Moving toward McCall Derek grabs the boy by the collar and throws him into one of the support pillars. Stepping towards the teen, he grabs him by the neck and elevates him in the air, keeping the boy’s back pressed to the pillar. Claws slowly drawing blood. That is when Lydia steps up.
“We didn’t know. He has been distant lately.”
“And whose fault is that oh strawberry goddess.” There is so much sarcasm in Cora’s voice even Lydia is taken aback.
“He admired you. Loved you. And what did you do? Used him when needed and then discarded him like a used toy?”
“Pack takes care of each other. He thought you were his. Why couldn’t he be yours?”
Pushing Derek back the bitten wolf yells out “He is just human. Humans don’t belong in packs.” the words are followed by a deafening silence.
The enraged roar from their leader made Mason take a step back. Followed by Corey. When they look at Liam, they see his war, joining his friends or staying with his alpha. The alpha who bit him.
“Don’t you dare step back Liam.” With red eyes and alpha voice Scott looks at his beta who immediately drops down and shows his throat. Helpless against his alpha’s command. With disgust the Hales look at the display. How anyone could have thought the ex-asthmatic teen could have been a good leader had clearly been wrong. As if sensing their revulsion, the group takes that moment to grab their leader and high tail it out of the building, moving in a wide circle around the enraged Hales.
Leaving Mason and Corey behind.
“I didn’t know it was this bad.” Turning towards Mason the born wolves all simultaneously raise their eyebrows.
“Biting that boy is one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Granted, I was crazy at the time and bit the first human I came across. Should have killed him before I died.” Even though he mumbles the last part Corey and Mason still hear him. Sharing a look they gulp. Surely they just misheard right?
“If you had, Stiles would have hated you and you know it Peter.”
“I guess you are right. Now why are you two still here? Hmm? Don’t you young people have better things to do then hang around older wolves in abandoned areas?” The last part elicits a growl from his nephew.
Taking a deep breath Mason tries to find the right words before blurting out: “He saved my life once.”
This immediately gets everyone’s attention and they set around him more comfortable, determined to hear the story.
“He made me promise not to tell anyone. But I guess… since he is dead now it doesn’t matter anymore. I, I was captured by these hunters. The bad kind. And Stiles. Stiles was hanging on the opposite wall. Bloody and unconscious when they brought me in. That’s. That is when they started the, the questions. About the pack. But Stiles, he woke up. Started taunting them, distracting them. I… I don’t know what he did but about an hour after the hunters left, Stiles did something with his hands. I could hear the bones crunch and then suddenly he was on the floor. Cutting me loose, taking the lead and helping me escape.” Taking a deep breath Mason looks up at the others with tears in his eyes.
“I know he killed those hunters. I saw him do it. He probably went back after he fixed my cuts to finish the job. It looked so routine for him. Not, not just the killing. The escaping. Like he got captured a lot.”
When Mason is finished, he is sobbing, and Corey’s arms are around him. The loft is dead silent. Trying to process the words they just heard, trying to compare Masons’ story with the boy they knew.
“I know he is not good for Liam. He is changing him, he always had anger problems, but now? They are only getting worse. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he is better at controlling them. But they are coming more often, and the control only makes them worse.” With that said they both silently leave the loft. Leaving the Hales to their thoughts.
---
On midnight Nira climbs on a small platform, grabbing the attention of the surrounding people.
“Stiles was like a long lost cousin to me. He taught me more than I could ever dream to teach him. Tomorrow there will be a hunt. A hunt for the creature that killed him. That ate him.” Angry noises raise from the crowd when she shouts those last words.
“Any who would like to join are welcome. Let’s kill the thing!” with that she raises a bottle of liquor and the party joins her. Yelling agreements.
Tonight they celebrate his life
Tomorrow they avenge the fallen.
At first light the woods are filled with all kinds of creatures, bloodlust hanging heavy in the air

I'm using this method so it doesn't get muddled within the other discourse. What did you mean by this? "Everyone complains about how Scott should just listen to Derek, but I don’t think a single one of them would have liked Derek murdering Boyd & Cora in Fireflies (3x03) if Scott had said “If you think it’s best, Derek.”"- I'd like to know which situation you're referring to and how it fits into Scott listening or not listening. I'd initially glimpsed over it, but it's been piquing my curiosity.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that parts of the fandom believe that Scott constantly rejected what Derek and/or Stiles tried to tell him. This is, of course, a point of view without nuance. Scott did listen to Derek, sometimes, and Scott did listen to Stiles, sometimes. In fact, he always listened, but sometimes he rejected what they had to say for his own decision, which is part of the process of growing up.
Let’s take Allison. Fandom talks as if Scott was obsessed with Allison, but throughout Seasons 1 and 2, he often made decisions that threatened his relationship with Allison, to the point where that relationship finally ended. In contrast, I think it’s clear that, if anyone was obsessed, it was Derek. Even though he had no proof that Allison was like Kate (and she wasn’t), he constantly tried to prevent Scott from seeing her. Scott ignored him and for good reason -- people shouldn’t be judged by their last name. Now, Derek also had good reason to fear what might happen because of what happened with Kate. The production’s position I think is clear -- decisions made based on hope and love are better than those based on fear and despair, yet it didn’t say that Derek’s fear was unreasonable, only wrong.
The scene I was referring to specifically, where it was beneficial that Scott refused to listen to Derek, happens in Fireflies (3x03). I reproduce an image and the dialogue.
Scott: I mean real help. They're too fast for us, for all of us. They're too strong, too rabid.
Derek: We'll catch 'em.
Isaac: What happens if we do? We just gonna hold them down until the sun comes up?
Derek: Maybe it would be easier just to kill 'em.
Scott: Killing them isn't the right thing to do.
Isaac: What if it's the only thing to do? If we can't even catch them, what else do we do?
Scott: Find someone who knows what they're doing.
Derek: Who?
Scott: Someone who knows how to hunt werewolves.
In this scene Derek is willing to kill Boyd and Cora before they reach the populated areas of Beacon County in order to protect innocents from the moon-fueled wrath. He sees it as his call to make because he is their alpha. It’s not an unreasonable position; it’s just wrong. Derek is also highly resistant to involving Chris Argent in an attempt to contain Boyd and Cora, expressing reluctance and doubt. It’s not an unreasonable position, it’s just wrong.
My earlier statement came form the idea that parts of the fandom have portrayed Scott as stubbornly intransigent towards both Derek and Stiles, while it was actually a very good thing that Scott was able to reject their advice/instructions on occasion. In this instance, if he hadn’t rejected Derek’s proposed solutions and proposed and fought for his own, Chris Argent wouldn’t have been able to help Derek, Isaac, Scott, and Allison contain them until sunrise.
You see, parts of the fandom are so eager to make Teen Wolf a zero sum game, and this fuels their hatred of Scott. Since they think in terms of dominance, they believe that Scott’s rejection of Derek’s leadership was the cause of Derek’s troubles. But the truth is -- the mistakes that Derek made were Derek’s mistakes. They were neither created nor justified by his conflict with Scott over the proper form of leadership. Derek (and even Peter) didn’t lose their alpha status because Scott gained his in the scheme of the show. Derek lost his saving Cora, and Peter lost his because he was a murderer.
On the other hand, Scott for his part didn’t become a True Alpha as a rebuke to Derek and Peter, but because he decided on a course of action that valued every life equally and stood up for it. But he wasn’t a True Alpha in Episode 1, Season 1. He grew into that. And part of that growth was rejecting the positions of his foils -- Peter’s coercive force, Derek’s fear-ridden command, Stiles’ possessive and exclusive violent love, Jackson’s extreme self-focus, Gerard’s greed for survival, Deucalion’s poisoned philosophy, and Jennifer’s willingness to hurt others for the greater good.

You Were Always Mine (Part 10)

Summary: Karma Artemis Sauveterre finds herself moving from Wizarding Britain to Beacon Hills after tragedy strikes her family. Let's see how she fits into this completely new environment while dealing with heartache, losses and gains.
Warning: This series contains smut, angst and teenage pregnancy. I'll probably place another reminder if I don't forget. I'm very forgetful. Also it was written by me and my dominant language is not English, I think that can classify as a warning because a lot of people are very particular about grammar and spelling. Mistakes are my own and I apologize in advance.
Pairing: Stiles x Artemis (Female OC)
A/N: My OC comes from the Harry Potter Universe, but HP characters will not star in this story. Only the spells and potions. And the schools. No people. This is going to be based in Teen Wolf and will follow their storyline, but not always very accurately. I did my best. I have only written until Season 2. I haven't watched Season 3 and up. I will try to start watching again and see if I can continue the story because I do want to include Void Stiles in this story. Thank you.

"Bollocks!" Artemis cursed. She was running late for class. It was the last period and she had forgotten the combination to her locker - for the third time!
"Might as well not go to class" she murmured to herself as she wandered the school. She refused to be seen as tardy. She noticed how the teachers didn't hesitate to call out students and she would die of embarrassment if a teacher pointed her tardiness out infront of the entire class.
It was almost time for the final bell to ring when she noticed a man slowly walking down the corridor. He was around Alastor's age and looked quite unwell.
"Excuse me? Do you need any help?" she enquired gently when she approached him.
"Please...get Scott." he grunted while leaning up against the wall. Artemis tried to steady him and touched his hand, only to find it wet and sticky with blood.
She drew in a sharp breath. "This isn't good," she murmured while getting a handkerchief out to dry the blood from his hand, only to see more dripping from underneath his sleeve.
"Listen, sir. Would you mind if I took you home with m..."
"Derek" he interrupted with a groan.
"I beg your pardon?" she asked him with a small frown.
"My name..Derek." he breathed.
"Derek...I'm Artemis." she said hurriedly. "Please, walk with me. I'm taking you to my house. My father was head hea...doctor at a very estimable hospital back in England." she spoke gently, trying to steer him out of the school but he refused to budge.
"Just get..Scott." he protested weakly just as the bell rang. She saw him flinch - badly and wondered whether the blood loss was affecting him already.
She thought for a moment before she nodded determinedly, "Wait here" she said firmly. "I will be back shortly."
Artemis rushed out and saw Alastor waiting outside for her, door already opened. She walked up to him and spoke as softly as she dared since the parking lot was packed. Even though it's been a few weeks, some people were still looking at her as if she was from a different world.
"Alastor, I need your help with something." she whispered urgently even though she looked completely at ease to anyone who looked her way. "I need you to come into the school with m..." she trailed off when she saw Derek faint infront of Stiles' jeep.
"Bloody idiot." she whispered in annoyance. She walked up to Stiles' Jeep and opened her mouth to speak when he interrupted her. "Sorry, princess. Can't talk right now." he said hurriedly while starting the engine.
"Well, I hope you're taking him straight to the hospital!" Artemis said stiffly. She heard Derek murmur "No hospitals" right as Stiles sped away.
She had the urge to stomp her foot since she just knew that Stiles probably wouldn't get him the help he needed.
Alastor soon stopped infront of her and got out to open the door.
"Thank you, Alastor." she said as she blew out a harsh breath. "Can we please gain a little more speed? I need to speak to father urgently."
"Of course, my lady." He replied as he picked up more speed.
"Father, he's seriously injured. And I'm sure he needs urgent medical attention but he was quite adamant about not going to the hospital." she told her father in concern.
Nicolas pinched the bridge of his nose. "Okay, daughter. I'll see what I can do." he sighed. "You get him here and I'll treat him. But if he's a dangerous criminal then I will send him to prison myself." he warned.
"Of course" she said affronted. "We'll lock him up ourselves if that's the case." she said as if it was obvious. "But if he's an innocent guy who's just afraid of hospitals, then we'll do him a great service" she finished before packing some potions in her bag and bidding her father goodbye.
She took out her handkerchief, the one soaked with Derek's blood and cast a tracking spell to lead her to the injured man.
She followed the disillusioned floating handkerchief for what felt like hours when she came across Stiles' jeep.
She was tired, grumpy and her feet hurt. When she stopped next to the jeep, it was to see Derek still bleeding out. How was he not dead yet?!
"Excuse me, gentlemen" she greeted both of them firmly, before looking over at Stiles. "I thought I told you to get him somewhere safe." she addressed him reproachfully.
"Excuse me for not knowing where I can drop off a bleeding guy who refuses to go to the hospital." he told Artemis snidely who just sniffed in reply.
Her lips thinned in annoyance when she looked at a barely conscious Derek. "I told you I can help but you're as stubborn as a mule. You must be really determined to die, young man." she murmured and saw the corner of Derek's lips pull up in a half smile.
She looked back at Stiles and mentally sighed. "May I get into your vehicle, please?" she asked primly. "My father is a very capable doctor with an excellent reputation. He can nurse Derek back to health."
Derek tried to shake his head but Stiles considered it for a moment. He had nowhere else to take Derek. There's absolutely no guarantee that Scott will get the bullet and he'll just bleed out in his jeep. He shuddered at that. No one is dying in his jeep...that convinced him.
He nodded, "Sure, hop in."
Artemis opened the jeep and squeezed in next to Derek, sitting almost on top of his lap. "Okay, I will give you directions to my house while I tend to this guy." she told Stiles then gestured to Derek.
As they drove, she bandaged his arm just to stop the bleeding, then gave him blood replenishing and pepper up potion. "That should keep you sustained until we get to my house."
Almost halfway to her house, Derek was a bit more lucid but not by much. At this point, Artemis was sitting on his lap and feeding him blood replenisher since his wound just wouldn't stop bleeding.
When they finally reached her house, Derek and Stiles only saw an open field.
"Uh..don't wanna state the obvious, but I'm pretty sure wild camping is illegal." Stiles said hesitantly. "Your tent isn't even set up."
Artemis' eyes twinkled with amusement, "You're quite the funny guy, aren't you?" she stated before turning around to open the car door. She got out of the jeep and they saw her disappear before reappearing with a man who they presumed to be her father.
"Good evening, gentlemen" her father said. He was quite tall and looked nothing like Artemis. He too, had that aristocratic air about him and stood as if he was in the company of the monarch. What surprised them was that he didn't speak The Queen's English that his daughter favoured. In fact, he didn't sound British at all, though his speech sounded just as cultured as hers, as if they had speech training since birth.
Nicolas paused and looked at both Stiles and Derek when they got out of the jeep. "Tonight you're about to see some very unusual things. I'm asking that both of you please keep an open mind and not freak out."
Both or them nodded and Derek stumble forward but Stiles caught him in time.
Nicolas handed them both a piece of paper after placing a feather-light charm on Derek. "Please, memorize this address for me then you may enter." he spoke mainly to Stiles since he was already levitating Derek just as the papers went up in flames.
Stiles looked up and froze in place when he saw the size of the property infront of him.
He looked at Artemis in astonishment then back at the house - no, mansion.
"Just who are you exactly?" He asked in a whisper. "Most people at school think that you are just being pretentious by showing up at school with a chauffeur but it turns out that you're an actual princess." his lips turned up into a cheeky grin at the end of his sentence.
Artemis sighed softly as they rushed behind her father and a levitated Derek.
"Again with the jokes, I see. I'm not a princess, Stiles." She looked at him in her peripheral, stoic mask in place, "If anything, I'm a queen." she deadpanned as she stepped through the guest bedroom doors.
Stiles stopped and looked at her, thoroughly impressed before following her into the room, shaking his head with a smile.

Hey @halekingsourwolf, inspired by the discussion happening in your askbox, here’s my best recreation of the crazy crap that is Teen wolf timeline, esp re: events of Visionary, the Overlooked, and Alpha Pack. This got out of hand... but it’s kind of turned into my own personal headcanon/backstory for the series/manifesto. XD
.
So in Visionary, after Deuc is ambushed and blinded by Gerard (who kills both all of his own hunters and all of Deuc’s pack who were with him), he is taken to the vet clinic. Deaton treats him. His last scene in that ep is Deaton unwrapping his eyes, telling him he’s blind. Deuc yells for everyone to leave him alone, gets them out of the room. One of his remaining betas stays. The man attacks him, and Deuc kills him, realising he can see with Alpha eyes. So whether he kills all his betas on Hale land, we don’t know, but probs not. But he does kill the first one and, it’s implied, is inspired to kill the rest.
(My interpretation/headcanon is that it was initially self defense, his beta wanted the alpha power, and then maybe paranoia… I had a deaf dalmatian who was extremely aggressive and dominant, towards all other dogs. She always went for blood immediately, sometimes even if they were behaving what we thought was submissively. We believed it was a preemptive defensive thing, compensating for her hearing/the fact she was so easy to sneak up on. So Deuc maybe started like that, and then got to liking/having plans for that power.)
310/The Overlooked: Jennifer canonically says, referencing the day Kali attacked her/was killing her/their pack, that the Nemeton’s power had been gone for years “But a few months earlier, something happened… Something that gave it a spark… The sacrifice of a virgin.”
So “canonically” (for what that’s worth), it was, indeed, just a few months between the pack peace meeting/Deuc’s blinding/paige’s death and Kali killing her pack/Jennifer being attacked.
.
So my headcanon/interpretation:
Kali, Ennis, and Deuc all had packs near-ish Beacon Hills (how large are territories? Calif is big… “near” could be hundreds of miles or ten). The distillery where Derek/paige make out/the ambush happens is “just outside beacon hills” according to Peter and is canonically the same one where hunters execute the Beta of Ennis’ who killed someone, thereby inciting the conflict. (if the distillery is “just outside” Hale territory as well as Beacon Hills, maybe that’s why Derek picked it as a secret makeout spot-- someplace his parents/pack didn’t regularly patrol, and would be less likely to see/find/smell anything and give him shit for it)
So maybe Ennis’ territory bordered/ended a few miles from Hale territory on the side where the distillery is. Kali’s borders the preserve/part of the preserve/ nemeton side. Deuc’s is a little further away, but still “near”. Tensions are rising, so all the California packs/nearby packs convene in well-respected Hale territory to negotiate with the local hunters/Argents. Maybe Deuc’s territory being a little further away is part of why he was so optimistic about the meetup-- he hadn’t been dealing with those particular hunters as much.
Canon events go down. Canonically it is stated/implied (by Peter) that Ennis bit Paige: 1. as a favor to Derek (or Peter), 2. to get into Talia’s good graces (or possibly “back into” because it was a rogue member of his pack that started the incident with the hunters, and did it in/near Hale territory, hence distillery being the site of the execution, again, maybe because it was in an easement between territories), and 3. because he wanted another pack member to replace the one the Hunters killed (also maybe implying his pack was close, since her being in his pack presumably wouldn’t make it harder for her to date a member of Talia’s… and maybe even further strengthening the bond between his & Talia’s packs/his standing with Talia, through that relationship esp if it stayed/got serious ala marriages of state. XD I would not put it past Peter to have implied such things when he approached Ennis about biting Paige in the first place )
So Talia’s had a really shit week. A bunch of Alphas and packs who respected her met on her land to negotiate with a hunter clan who they were in at least a truce with… and now there’s been an incident and no one but the two men who survived, neither of whom is 100% trustworthy/sane now, nor trusted/respected by “the other side”, can say why a shitton of hunters and werewolves are dead. Additionally a human child/teenager was bitten and had to be mercy-killed, her young teenage son and foolish/slippery brother are tied up in that (specifically, her kid has now had a massive trauma they all have to deal with), and the Alpha who survived the mess was permanently blinded and immediately (as I’m sure it was played, and isn’t necessarily untrue) was forced to kill one of his remaining Betas who tried to take the alpha power/rank while he was debilitated.
At some point in the few months that follow, the packs that used to border her and be her allies, are killed. And because she did nothing about it, I’m going to say she didn’t know the truth about why they were dying. Maybe the alphas are framing hunters, maybe hunters are actually waging war against Alphas. Maybe both of those.
I’m going to say that Kali/Jennifer/nemeton/Darach goes down while Talia’s still alpha, before Kate. I’m going to say that because of the fact that Jennifer seems to have fled to Hale territory, and the Nemeton, but was surprised that the Nemeton wasn’t dead… so if it wasn’t the Nemeton she was seeking, what was it? I would say protection from the best respected/ last intact pack in the area and/or their Emissary/Deaton.
Jennifer turing up mangled in their territory/ in the Beacon Hills Hospital… Maybe that was the moment Talia put together what was going on for sure. Maybe Jennifer even said as much when she regained consciousness in the Hospital or something.
So then Talia knew the shape of the fight she was about to have.
And perhaps her distraction over that, over pack politics and hunter politics and alpha packs and mangled emissaries is why she doesn’t notice Derek and Kate.
And Kate was Gerard/the shitty Argents’ ace in the hole/ back up plan/something. Because Talia had been too honest or calm or smart or something to be flipped by their usual methods, and she was too respected by too many people (including, like, Satomi, who is presumably one plot of territory over, though secretive as hell) to be attacked, thinned out outright.
But Talia’s unbelievably distracted, and she never sees Kate coming (never expected that she would have to defend her children from adults sexually exploiting them. Especially teachers which, thanks to her super-creepy crack to Allison about wanting to substitute-teach to be able to ogle the hot teenage boys, I think fandom has mostly assumed/agreed that’s how she got access to Derek in the first place. As his substitute teacher. Happily adding that abusive power dynamic on to the whole mess.)
And maybe the Alpha pack had wanted Talia (or Peter, ooh, I like that) as one of them or on their side before they took out the Argents… so maybe in that power vacuum (and with Derek, Laura, and the Hale Alpha power fled to New York), they decide they are going to retreat and build strength for a while. Why fight the Argents when they can do literally anything else.
This explains why we/the viewers/Stiles/Scott/the gang are so surprised about there being so many packs. Perhaps that was normal, that kind of every-hundred-miles-a-new-pack thing, but then hunters and the alpha pack wiped out a massive chunk of the werewolf population in the northern California area… and If werewolf packs are all usually as traditional/methodical/slow as everyone seems to imply, it would take a long time for them to expand to fill the void, especially if there was a stigma/fear around the events that took out all those packs, and especially since there were still a few of the highly-respected Hales alive, even if they weren’t in their traditional territory at the time.
And it especially makes sense too if there’s a shorter window between the Kate Shit and Laura and Derek coming back… like six years or whatever (using Derek’s “fake” ID having him born in 88, and S1 happening in 2011). That’s really not a lot of time for other supes to fill a space that size… hence the rise in activity the further into the series we get/the stronger the nemeton gets. There’s still a vacuum being filled.
So yeah, Teen wolf wiki has Deuc being blinded in fall of ‘03, right after Derek turns 15, Jennifer happening in spring of ‘04, and then Kate and the death of the Hales happening in January of ‘05 (referencing the webisode that suggests it went down during the Wolf moon, which was Jan 25 in ‘05, claiming that born wolves have massive reunions/celebrations for that full moon every year, thus explaining why everyone was together), right after Derek turns sixteen… so it would have been just over six years since all that, when S1 starts.
But Peter’s comment is just that Derek was a Sophomore, and 15. While there are always exceptions, most folks I knew in California school systems, if they had a fall birthday, turned fifteen during their Freshman year. So I posit the timeline: Derek is 15 at the beginning of his Sophomore year, ‘03, when He and Paige start up. The shit with Deuc and the alphas and Paige’s death happens that fall, Derek has the shittiest sixteenth birthday, and Kate starts preying on him while he is exceptionally vulnerable that next semester (there’s probably some bullying/blowback/ostracization from his peers to deal with, if only because of his changed behavior, let alone any connections anyone has drawn to Paige’s disappearance and death, not to mention his mother’s distraction with pack politics and hunters, and him having gone from top-of-the-world to fuck-all self-esteem wise… plus, y’know, crushing grief and guilt). Kali attacks Jennifer that spring (2004), Talia is even more preoccupies there, and Kate makes her move sometime before the end of the semester, since Derek and Laura were presumably at a school function/practice/etc instead of home when the fire happened. This also Lets Derek and Laura be two years apart in school if she’s a senior, which I like better. Also lets her graduate (although, what a shit-show that probably was. Holy shit). And then it’s a full seven-years-and-a-summer before they come back and S1 starts (which would make him 23 when we meet him, instead of 22) (or, if you prefer, move all the years up one, duec attacked in 04, jennifer dies in 05, shorter time Derek and Laura were gone… or make Derek younger, make Paige happen his freshman year when he is 14/15, and Kate happen either that spring/summer he’s 15 or during his sophmore year, maybe, at 15/16).
This ignores the webisode/Wolf moon breadcrumb, which attempted to explain why all the Hales were gathered together, but unless it was, like, a lunar eclipse, which it was not, why would they have been inside the house, instead of out running with the moon? I would expect a moon celebration to involve, y’know, being under the moon.
I would argue that there doesn’t need to be a reason that they were gathered, at least, not beyond the fact that there were lots of dangerous things happening in the territory at that time. Maybe it was just a meeting to deal with that. Maybe it was a pretty regular occurrence, during times of strife like that, and so it was predictable. Hell, maybe they were in the house planning something for Laura’s graduation??? This is also suggesting that they didn’t all live there???
However, if anybody digs the Lunar eclipse theory, I kind of went nuts with it over here....
.
Points of confusion still for me:
.
Why is Gerard in charge of the Matriarchal Argent family? My best guess is that Victoria is the actual Matriarch, until such time as she decides Kate is worthy, or Allison is ready. Perhaps Gerard and Kate are delegated to Beacon Hills while Chris and Victoria (and little Allison) are managing things Elsewhere, since Allison has never, as far as we know, been to Beacon Hills before. Perhaps bitterness about not being in charge officially, and maybe being outside the line of succession, is part of what drives Kate and Gerard’s unique take on the hunter manifesto.
@sixspades / @satisfythosethrills suggested an alternate power tier, though, Where Gerard’s wife was such a powerful matriarch, so committed and impressive, that when she passed/was killed he just kind of stepped in as regent (Feeling it was his duty to pass on all that knowledge and experience they had which she didn’t have an opportunity to teach everyone herself) in the aftermath and never really gave up that position. He maintains power out of respect/the belief that he is doing things the way she would have done them, even as his own hatred of Werewolves begins to skew his interpretation of/adherence to their rules.
.
Where is Satomi? (other than “nowhere, because they didn’t make her up yet”) My best guess is her territory was traditionally (assuming they weren’t completely nomadic, which I would accept) just far enough away that she wasn’t involved in the initial mess with the hunters, and/or her pack is secretive enough to have stayed off their radar, and powerful/incorruptible enough to not be a good target for the Alpha pack. Maybe she would have come to the aid of the Hales, and maybe not, but in the end… events in BH were too rapid and it was too late.
.
Peter's actual age? If he has a kid Stiles' age (regardless of who that kid is or was intended to be), by this timeline, the kid's gotta be, like, eight when all this is happening (using teen wolf wikia’s timeline, Jackson would have been 9 at the time, in order for him to be old enough to drive his Porsche in S1) So Peter is probs not the nineteenish-year-old he makes himself out to be in the re-telling. Since he would have to have had a kid at 10. I like the idea that that is part of why Talia took his memories of his child, though. If he was young, a teenager (fathering a kid at 13-17 puts him at 22-26 during the Visionary flashbacks), and she felt he was unable to manage that situation… and if neither Derek nor Laura knew, since they would have been <10 when it happened, once the older pack members died, the knowledge was lost. (unless Deaton knew. Bet me Batman, Deaton knew)
.
The desert wolf stuff??? I’m just going to put a pin in, since I haven’t watched all of that yet, I don’t think.
.
Why no one is suspicious of Kate? As far as we know, she was not directly involved in the events leading to Gerard’s attack on Deucalion… but unless she was going under an assumed name, the Hale pack ought to have known she was an Argent and automatically been keeping an eye on her. Similarly, what kind of story must she have spun Derek, what kind of lies must she have told? Either to keep him from learning she was an Argent/hunter, or to persuade him she loved him and was trustworthy anyway.
.
(of course the actual answer to most of these questions is that certain creators/writers/showrunners couldn’t be arsed to be consistent... but that’s not a very fun answer. ;) It just means missed opportunities that we can fill. Case in point: killing off all the female members of a “matriarchal power structure” so it can just be about old white dudes anyway. Six suggested writing in/casting Gerard’s wife, instead of Gerard, the sweet old lady with steel underneath... and you can see how twisted Kate could be that way, how twisted and terrifying they could be together... uuuugh I’m in love with that idea...)

Our Problems With Teen Wolf
Note: My friend, @knightedtime, and I made this a while back and I decided to release it because the world should know our feelings XD Or something meaningful like that. So here we go.
I have nothing against the actors. I have nothing against the writers. This are just my complaints. Any hostility will be exploited.
Feel free to add your own if you’d like! Just include a line break.
Jackson Whittemore. He came off as a huge asshole even when they tried to make him sympathetic and I was indifferent to him “dying” temporarily.
No reasons for Lydia acting shallow, vapid and pretending to be dumb while she was with Jackson. It was never addressed. Never talked about why she did that and everyone just acts like it didn’t happen. Okay.
Lydia doesn’t seem to have friends. You can claim the Pack are her friends but ??? They don’t hang out much. Like hang out like normal people their age. So I think Danny was her only real friend because he showed concern and shit and talked to her outside of mystery problem stuff.
Theo Raeken being a Peter Hale rip off. Cause that’s what he is. And trusting him about anything is bullshit. He fucked that up. Maybe had he been developed more I’d be more understanding. Nothing against Cody Christian but Theo is just another evil dude with pretty face. At least Peter had some sort of depth.
Stydia last season
Most Stydia fans
Stydia in general
Stydia being shoved down my throat.
Season 5 in general
Kira’s “ending”. It was bullshit. There was some open ended shit so her story being over was bullshit. BULLSHIT. BULLLLSHIT. and I hope Arden Cho is doing great things after that utter bullshittery.
The loss and lack of Danny. I fucking loved him and he was just gone. Another actor mistreated on this asshole show. Well, I hope Keahu Kahuanui is doing greater things than this.
Last season is about Stiles. At least 6a. I’m sorry but in NO way should the last season of the show being about the sidekick. I don’t give a shit what or who he is. STILES SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE MAIN GOAL OF 6A. I don’t give a shit about what Stiles fans and Stydia fans have to say about it.
Scott and Stiles’ friendship is continuously on a downward spiral. Stiles has always been the dominating personality in the relationship. Check out all of season one if you don’t believe me. Scott just recently started coming into his own with being an alpha, a leader. I feel like Stiles doesn’t like that. Aside from this, I also feel like Stiles expects certain privileges with being Scott’s “best friend” but their relationship has corroded and they can’t really be “best friends” if Scott no longer trusts Stiles. And I don’t believe he does, regardless of what Jeff says.
The unrealistic relationships. Stydia. Stalia. Mainly. Because it’s kind of relationships that they just kind of pulled out of their asses and were like “meh”. Adelaide and Gage left and Stiles just needed someone.
No explanation for what happened to Derek. Literally. I know that Tyler H. said he wasn’t coming back but the show never explained where Derek went. Yet another character that we’re suppose to just forget about.
Scott’s development from season 3 to season 5. Where is it? I mean, yes, he was kind of an asshole in season 2 when it came to Derek making more werewolves. Then it went stagnant.
The fandom/fanbase. The most vocal (I don’t want to say majority) are the Stydia people. The most vocal of the Stydia people seem to be bullying the actors and I AIN’T ABOUT THAT. Listen up, you little parasites, your show is ending due to you bitching all the time. Had it not been for that, might have gotten some more.
The shipping wars
Layden. Another rushed relationship that I don’t have the capacity to care about. Plus the “homage” to Scallison is just -.- exhausting.
Theo Raeken comes back for season 6, erasing the last thing Kira did on the show. Thanks.
Rehashing old relationship. Same as 19, but it really urked me so let’s put it up here twice.
Theo Raeken in general
Lydia and Jackson ever being a thing. It was a toxic relationship. They were both kind of hateable. Some people are just too toxic to be together. Maybe had Colton Hayes stayed the could have worked on that, but Colton deserves better so he can go ahead and do what he’s doing.
Stydia in General because it’s really cliche if you look at it. That whole popular girl gets won over by the nerd/geek is so worn out. Usually, I’m all for an underdog story, but Stiles isn’t an underdog. He’s kind of an asshole. He kind of treats everyone like garbage (even Lydia in some instances) and the two of them are usually at odds. Honestly, Stydia happening (to me) isn’t out of love, but out of Lydia paying homage to her dead best friend because Allison was the one who told Lydia to give him a chance. Make of that what you will.
Scott moving too quick. I mean… His relationships go from like 5 to 100 in a matter of episodes. It’s a bit concerning even though he’s a sweet boy. It makes me concerned for him.
WTF HAPPENED TO LAHEY (I know he’s with Chris but wtf? No updates on him). Not even mentioned again. He doesn’t exist.
The last season being focused on Stiles when they knew beforehand that Dylan O’ Brien was going to be busy and it really should be focusing on the Titular Character given that it’s last season. (On here twice cause it’s BULLSHIT).
The way that Jeff Davis treats his actors. I’m looking at Danny’s actor and Kira’s.
Peter Hale never got a redemption arc until season 6, but Theo basically got his immediately. Theo’s redemption is bullshit at that. Using fear as a redemption tool is never successful. Scared Straight doesn’t work for murderers. If it doesn’t work for sex offenders, it’s not going to work for Theo. Sorry, not sorry.
The fact Peter is probably going to get screwed over again. Wouldn’t surprise me.
The fact that Brett and Liam would have been more believable than Layden and Brett and Liam borderline hating each other. Maybe it’s chemistry, maybe it’s the fact that Layden was so rushed. The world may never know.
There’s not any main queer relationships. I dare you to name your top three in season 6 without repeating any characters. I fucking dare you.
They bring in a Bi character and he’s not used much. *cough*BrettTalbot*cough*
I can’t be excited for season 6 because of the past seasons (mainly 5) being at least somewhat disappointing
The fact that they claimed there wasn’t room for Kira and yet they casted a bunch of people for season 6 who were new.
Not that I ship it, but They baited Sterek a lot outside of the show for views.
Scott trusts Theo more than he trusts Stiles. So much for best friends, am I right?
Stiles kinda being an ass to Scott after Scott died and expecting Scott to be everywhere at once, resulting in that one gif where Stiles attacked Scott very fucking violently. Scott is a werewolf, not a superhero.
The show focuses more on Stiles’ Trauma more than anyone else’s. Scott and Lydia dealing with the loss of Allison, a part of an episode of them crying and the occasional mention. Why did Lydia act dumb? What went on with Scott since he didn’t have a dad? How has them being what they are affected them mentally? What about Malia’s trauma? These things are merely touched upon everyone once in a while. Stiles’ trauma is probably enough to write a thesis paper on.
Having no real reason other than Allison’s death for Isaac leaving (even that relationship was WAY too fast and wasn’t love based, like, at all)
Allison and Isaac’s relationship to begin with. There’s so much with this relationship that just grates me.
Allison tried to justify torturing people who had nothing to do with her mom’s death. Like I understand, but that also made it seem like they were going to set her up as a villain in later seasons, which for her not to go that route made it pretty damn disappointing and pissed me off. (Especially when she seemingly expected Derek to be cool with her. Fun Fact: Once you start disliking someone with a passion, everything that person does pisses you off so I can’t fault Derek here).
Gerard being alive. Just… That bitch.
The fact Scott is barely ever “single” and thus making him pretty fucking unrelateable. In highschool, I only date two people, some of my friends never dated, and some of my friends dated their s.o. freshman year or earlier to senior year. Plus, we never really seen him mourn Allison much so that could be a reason.
Kira’s story arc season 5 because that was weak to the point I barely remember wtf she was doing. Basically, made her character less memorable other being “that one girl Scott dated that wasn’t Allison”
The fact that Allison died at all, when really, they could have just let her actress leave and It’s like if you look at most people who are written off the show, the majority of Females who do DIE.
Stalia vs. Stydia. Stiles should work on his personality a bit before he should be in a relationship but whatever
Wtf happened to Lydia’s dad?
Wtf happened to Scott’s dad?
The show just gets more unrealistic and unrelatable. These kids basically have no breaks in between problems .-. In continuation to this, I’m adding the fact that this shit always happens to these kids and while it’s a tv show and everything, it’s rly unrealistic that everything happens to them.
There’s a rumor that Scott’s going to kick the bucket for the last season and I don’t like it.
Malia getting hate for dating Stiles.
Lydia’s sudden feelings for Stiles (Fandom would claim differently, but She looks really annoyed when he talks and their “humor” sounds somewhere between “I fucking hate you” and demeaning).
Void!Stiles not being addressed much (or the results of that rather).
Just now delving into more of Lydia’s abilities :l and they’re still pretty fucking shoddy.
Stydia getting so much fanservice. For example, the whole Stiles holding Lydia’s hand when it reasonably should have been Scott, considering they’re closer as “friends” and he can take away pain.
The Wendigo thing. Just… What the fuck man. Don’t introduce new creatures if you aren’t going to delve. Seriously.
How everything always happens in Beacon Hills (I understand the whole Nemeton drawing people there but still :l minus when they went to Mexico which can barely be counted :l)
The fact that the show treated Kira’s departure like a joke with the hashtag, but when it comes to Stiles’ Jeep, they take it seriously. You value you a character over a car. Congrats, assholes.
There’s no actual way that Stydia would work out considering the who “Try being less scared” line Stiles told Lydia while working on his Jeep (which is just one instance. This is NOT banter. This is NOT an old married couple).
Stiles is becoming more of an asshole with the more paranoid he gets which is why he shouldn’t be involved with this shit in the first place.
The whole ‘Some of us are human’ line. Like sorry, asshole. I like you most of the time, but still.
Tbh the way Stiles used to treat Lahey. Like, motherfucker he was abused and Stiles doesn’t acknowledge that and tells him he “milking” that. Lahey has trauma, you have mommy issues. Stop valuing your trauma over everyone else’s. Your trauma is pathetic compared to most other people’s.
The way that the fandom treats Parrish when it comes to Lydia. She’s 18 guys and not even supposed to be in high school anymore, considering she could graduate early if she wanted. When you’re 18 you can date anyone older than you without people blinking an eye.
Kate ending up being a werejaguar where she was scratched by werewolf Peter Hale. Just the whole “the bite effects how you feel” or whatever. No. You get bit my a werewolf, you should become a werewolf. Whatever, man. I’m tired of applying logic to this show…
JD disregards his actors feelings
Fandom being Hypocrites when it comes to Posey doing something wrong, when Dylan O’Brien’s done some bad shit too. LEAVE POSEY ALONE.
We didn’t get a funeral for Allison. (But we got one for Crazy Kate -.-)
The show is more about ships than anything else. What is a story line?
The fact Allison’s mom was a bitch and Allison’s “hallucinations” show her as a bitch but she went off the deep end because of her bitchy mom was dead.
They promote Stiles so much that most people think he’s the lead main character. Before I started watching this show, I seriously thought Stiles was the main character. Imagine my surprise when Scott was the werewolf.
All their female characters are kind of shit :l or in the process of going to shit… Or they’re dead... Or gone. My feelings for Malia fluctuate, they reduced Lydia to a crying, moping mess who was willing to risk Scott’s life for Stiles Stfuckboylinski, Erica is dead, Cora is/was female Derek, Allison is dead, Kira will be remembered as “Kitsune girl who dated Scott” because their lack of using her, Hayden… wait… who is Hayden again?, Let’s not touch Krazy Kate, who’s Braedan again? Wait, where did Marin go? Oh, fuck!
Can’t say much for their male characters either at this point.
The fact that they kinda ended Kira’s story with a cliffhanger.
How Lydia was cool with Peter and went to him for help after the whole possession and “you” thing that happened. “Yeah, I know that you were like haunting me or whatever and literally made me feel like I was losing my mind which you never really tried to make up for, but I totally and completely trust you”
Why the fuck was it necessary to kill Erica? Is that the only way this show knows how to get rid of characters?
The fact that they probably brought theo back to make Matheo a thing. He fucking shot her. If I was Malia, I’d sooner rip his head off.
People defending Stydia with “It’s only fanservice if you don’t agree with it”. No, it’s fanservice because you bitched for it and the writers want to pacify you and hope you shut up. “The Stydia moments every season is only a thing if you ship it”. Nope, it’s fanservice. Holland Roden even admitted that season 6a was fanservice. (I say all of 6a because it was Stiles centered and seemed more like fan fiction than an actual tv show).
For how old everyone was, I’m kind of shocked that Allison and Lydia were still friends after Lydia made out with Scott… Unless she never found out about that? I don’t know man.
Allison neglecting her and Lydia’s friendship and only paying attention to get help from her resulting in what happened with Peter, but no one addresses that. Which, to me, makes Allison not the best bestie.
People sending Malia and Parrish’s actors death threats over Stydia. Are you guys serious? This is why the show is garbage and this is why it’s ending and views are dropping. Kudos to Shelley Hennig and Ryan Kelley for putting up with that shit.
The fact that none of the female cast have storylines that are front and center. They all seem to be in the background more than anything. The women of this show are more like props (excluding Allison and Melissa).
Stydia fanbase freaking out over anything bad that happens to Dylan or Holland. I’m pretty sure that whole freak out of her getting pushed is enough to explain my feelings towards this.
Then antiStydia people making hashtags telling Holland to kill herself :l That’s not fair guys. It’s not Holland’s fault there’s a bunch of oversized babies shoving their ship down your throat.
The actors getting any kind of threats over a FUCKING FICTITIOUS TV SHOW! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! YOU’RE DOING THIS TO A REAL PERSON OVER A FAKE FUCKING TV SHOW. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO BE ON SO MANY FUCKING DRUGS TO THINK THAT’S AT ALL ACCEPTABLE. A FAKE RELATIONSHIP SHOULDN’T BE THE CENTER OF YOUR LIVES. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST LEAVE THIS POOR PEOPLE ALONE YOU DEMENTED ASSHOLES. GO TO YOU FUCKING FAN FICTION AND JUST FUCKING STOP. JUST FUCKING STOP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP.
JD giving the stydia fandom what they want when they don’t deserve it and they’re just a bunch of a brats.
The fandom shipping the actors together when they are real people with lives. This is just a general pet peeve of mind. Stop shipping living, breathing functional people unless you’re shipping them with their significant other. Don’t get caught up in other people’s life and start living yours.
The fact that apparently JD hinted Stiles was Bi and never did anything with it? :l He’s the straightest person ever. Seriously, I have never seen anyone straighter than Stiles Stilinski.
The Panic Attack kiss .-. I don’t wanna say it was OOC but it was a lot less Lydia like than everything else and the begin of Lydia acting less like herself like people do when they’re in an abusive relationship! (That was also the kind of panic attack that requires space too.)(Yeah -.- but oooo stydia)
The fact that the fandom was anti Malia (partially because she punched him once) but was totally cool shipping Sterek despite the fact that Derek p much assaults Stiles whenever Stiles steps out of line
Stiles also kinda treats Derek badly and Really? I don’t see why anyone would consider them to be ‘Friends’.
Lacrosse is somehow popular. Don’t know how, but Beacon Hills seems about the same size as Fresno is and really? I don’t know how lacrosse got so popular when beacon hills has a football team and that’s the so called american sport.
Fandom is woo girl power one minute, then bitching about Malia and Kira (Lydia less than those two) as individual parts.
The fact that everyone’s character development is all over the place, basically all the time
Basically all the female characters getting slut shamed
People thinking that Stiles deserves Lydia, like she’s some sort of prize to be won. Lydia is a fucking person. Fucking chauvinists.
Tbh the people who get the least amount of hate are more abusive? (examples?)(Jackson, Derek (though Derek’s “hate” is more the fandom sexualizing him?)) (I’ve seen them call Scott abusive and I’m like okay HOW.)
Ima just say this now, which prob ties to a lot of the actor stuff earlier, but the way the fandom treats Tyler Posey specifically like… I really just… :l (It’s frankly disgusting how they treat him.)(It really is :c) So much love in my heart for that boy. I just want to fucking hug him and make him feel better.
The fact that they’re putting Parrish in a Freezer during season 6 when he could help.
Ik that Lydia wouldn’t do this because Lydia and Allison were “best friends” but tbh Lydia has more romantic and even more friendship chemistry with Scott than she does with Stiles (Yeah. I noticed that.)

Scott McCall (Teen Wolf): ISFP
Dominant Introverted Feeling [Fi]: Scott tends to see the world in terms of black and white. He’s moral to a fault, overly trusting, and wants to see the best in people, even if he has every reason not to. Sometimes, his moralistic nature clouds his judgment as a leader and a friend. Scott is very true to who he is and doesn’t compromise when he feels strongly about something. If someone does something that Scott is morally opposed to, he can become judgmental and shut them out. He suffers from a lot of internal conflict and often doubts himself and his abilities. Scott tends to take things personally and has a tendency to become defensive when criticized. When Scott and Stiles clash, it usually comes down to Scott’s Fi vs. Stiles’ Fe. To Scott, the rules are the rules, no exceptions. To Stiles, it’s okay to break rules and do something wrong in certain situations.

Auxiliary Extroverted Sensing [Se]: Thinking things through isn’t Scott’s strong suit. While he sometimes struggles (especially in the beginning of the series) with creating and implementing plans, he’s always been skilled at thinking in the moment. He can be reckless at times and is prone to leap before he looks. For the most part, Scott lives in the present. He can let go of the past and doesn’t usually spend much time concerning himself with the future. Scott usually has good instincts and can spot opportunities in his environment to take advantage of.

Tertiary Introverted Intuition [Ni]: When Scott really wants something, he works tirelessly to achieve his goal. After he decided he wanted to buckle down academically, he made a lot of progress in a relatively short period of time. Sometimes, Scott is good at being able to tell what’s really going on in a situation. Though his Fi is constantly telling him that people are worthy of the benefit of the doubt, his Ni can poke it’s head out and give him a glimpse of a person’s true intentions and motivations.
Inferior Extroverted Thinking [Te]: Scott’s Te has developed a lot from when we first meet him. He puts his own moral judgments above others and expects them to follow his rules. His ability to strategize, organize his pack, and carry out his plans has improved as he has shifted from human, to werewolf, to alpha of his pack.

Quotes:
Stiles: Okay, this one will get you into all of the perimeter doors, this one into the evidence room, and this one’s for my father’s office. Scott:: You didn’t steal these, did you? Stiles: No. I cloned them using the RFID emulator. Scott:: Isn’t that worse than stealing? Stiles: …It’s smarter.
Scott:: Isn’t this one of the heart rate monitors for the track team? Stiles:: Yeah, I borrowed it. Scott:: Stole it. Stiles:: Temporarily misappropriated. Coach uses it to monitor his heart rate with his phone while he jogs, and you’re gonna wear it for the rest of the day. Scott:: Isn’t that coach’s phone? Stiles:: That, I stole.
Scott: Stiles…? Stiles:: Yes, okay, we followed him out here. What do you want me to say? That I’m a stalker? Huh? That I’m crazy? Totally paranoid? None of this is new information. Scott: Now you’re gonna try to at least give him the benefit of the doubt? Stiles:: I give people the benefit of the doubt! I’ve given a lot of benefit to a lot of people. Scott: Like Derek? …Kira? …Liam? Stiles:: I was right about Peter. You know, I bet you still think there’s something about him that can be saved. Scott: Maybe. Why can’t you trust anyone? Stiles:: Because you trust everyone!
Scott: They’re not the bad guys. They’re the victims. We shouldn’t be killing the people we’re trying to save.
Stiles:: [about Theo] No. Don’t give me that look. Scott: We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Stiles:: Not this time, alright? I’m right! There’s something off about him, I can feel it.
Scott: I should’ve done better. I… I… I should’ve known that this was going to happen. I should’ve been able to stop it.
Scott: You got a better one? Kids are dying! And she’s next. So, somebody has to do something! Somebody has to save everyone! So somebody’s got to be the bait!
Scott: You killed him? You killed Donovan? Stiles:: Well, he was going to kill my dad. Huh, was I supposed to just let him? Scott: You weren’t supposed to do this! None of us are. Stiles:: You think I had a choice? Scott: There’s always a choice. Stiles:: Yeah, well, I can’t do what you can, Scott. I know you probably wouldn’t have done it. You probably would’ve just figured something out, right? Scott: I’d try… Stiles:: Yeah, because you’re Scott! You’re the True Alpha! Guess what? All of us can’t be True Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes! Some of us have to get out hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human! Scott: So you had to kill him? Stiles:: Scott, he was going to kill my dad! Scott: But the way that it happened… There’s a point when it’s… it’s not self-defense anymore. Stiles:: What are you even talking about? I didn’t have a choice, Scott! You don’t even believe me, do you? Scott: I want to. Stiles:: Okay. Alright, so… So, believe me, then. Scott, say you believe me. Say it. Say you believe me. Scott: Stiles, we can’t kill people that we’re trying to save… Stiles:: Say you believe me. Scott: We can’t kill people!
Scott: I lost, Mom. Melissa: Every leader suffers loss. Sometimes more than you think is bearable. Scott: But this time, I lost everyone. Melissa: You’ll get them back. You have to. Scott: Why would they come back? Melissa: Because you’re their leader. And even when a leader thinks they have nothing left to give, there’s still one thing– hope. Give them hope.
Stiles:: It was just the way you were looking at me that night. You know, you were standing there with a wrench in your hand, and you’re looking at me like I just bashed you in the head with it. You know, like I’d broken your sacred rule and that’s it. There’s no going back.

Scott McCall :-)
@liliaeth So you wanted to lob an easy one at me.
How I feel about this character:
Scott McCall got me into fandom. He stands out among recent cultural creations because he’s a character who subverts so many tropes that I find toxic in today’s culture. He’s a good person, not because it’s innate but because he chose to be. He’s not an anti-hero; he likes the people he’s trying to save. He likes himself for the most part. He doesn’t believe that his suffering gives him the right to ignore morality or inflict pain on others. He isn’t effortlessly competent. He’s also not an ascetic monk. The message of Scott McCall is that we can do good if we try, if we hold ourselves to standards, if we care. That’s rare in entertainment today. Nowadays, fictional protagonists seem dominated by certain themes: competence is more important than principle, pragmatism is more important than belief, there’s a villain lurking beneath every hero. It’s refreshing to see a character win that rejects these things.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Allison, Kira, Theo, Liam, and Isaac, though I’m not really that interested in shipping that much as a whole.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Derek Hale. There are few things I like in Teen Wolf more than Derek’s character development, and that is motivated by and intrinsically tied to his relationship with Scott
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Teen Wolf trumpeted the idea that what set Scott apart was his resolve in the face of evil, his optimism in the face of despair, and his resilience in the face of adversity. They had Derek, Brett, Lydia, and even Scott himself lampshade that what made Scott special as a leader was the fact that he didn’t let the terrible things that had happened to him control him. As Derek put it “When there’s no chance of winning, he keeps fighting. When all hope is lost, he finds another way. And when he’s beaten down, he stands up again.” This is great, and a large part of why I like him as a character. But Teen Wolf often took this too far and in so doing presented the idea that in order for Scott to be a Great Leader, he had to be a Great Doormat. He couldn’t react to the things that his so-called friends did to him, or he suddenly wasn’t a good person anymore. This ranged from smiling dopily when Lydia and Kira mocked him, tolerating Noah’s bullshit hypocrisy, and just accepting that Stiles gets to beat on him when Stiles feels like it. I mean, just take the scene in Eichen House with Peter, Scott and Malia. He was asking Peter for assistance and Peter handed an assault rifle to a fanatic. This is the man who violated his mind repeatedly, who tried to kill him repeatedly, who had him turned into a Berserker, and Scott, to be a good leader, has to ask for his help without holding Peter accountable for his actions. Yes, a good leader puts others in front of himself, but there is a limit.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wanted to see him refute his friends’ and family’s unreal expectations of him. I wanted him to yell at his mother for “Don’t run, you fight.” I wanted to see him explain to his father his philosophy of leadership. I wanted him to tell Stiles that friendship doesn’t mean they have to take Stiles’ bullshit. I wanted him to have a reaction where he took a stand for his benefit, and not constantly sacrifice what he wanted for ungrateful white people.

Derek felt restless. His skin was crawling, itchy, and it felt too tight, made him want to peel it away. His mind was too loud, everything was too loud, and he just wanted quiet. Needed quiet. There was always so much going on and Derek was doing his best to keep his head above water, but he felt like he was drowning, like he was going to be pulled under with the tide.
He had no idea what to do. But he was the Alpha—the Alpha he was never supposed to be, born to be a Beta, never trained and always fucking up, so many mistakes—and he had to keep it together. He had a pack, had bitten them and made them, and they were his, but he had no idea what he was doing.
It felt like he was drowning, sometimes. When he didn’t know how to help them, when he had no idea what to say to make anything better. When he couldn't find the words to explain what an Anchor was, when he had to chain Boyd and Erica up during the full moon because he didn’t know how to articulate the beauty that was submitting to its pull.
He had no idea how to hold his pack together. Hell, he had hardly managed to get Boyd and Erica to stay. It had felt too much like he was losing family again, and he was scared, so scared. It must have shown on his face, or in his scent—or maybe they had been able to feel the pack bonds, had learned enough on their own or from Stiles, who seemed to know everything, to feel how devastated he was when Erica told him they needed to get away.
But he was so lost. Laura had always been meant as the next Alpha, and she had been, when they were in New York, but now she was gone, too. Everyone was gone. Everyone was gone, and he was an Alpha, and he felt like he was drowning.
Derek knew it was unfair, but he sought Stiles out anyway. The human was brilliant, had figured out that Scott had been bitten on his own, had kept him in control and safe when Derek couldn't figure out a way to help. Stiles would know what to do—now that the Kanima was gone, and Jackson was a wolf and Derek had nothing to fill his days.
There was no monster to hunt, or mystery to figure out, and Derek didn’t know what to do with himself. In New York he had worked. Construction, mostly. Long hours of physical labour—but there wasn’t a market for his experience here, and wasn’t sure how to fill his hours.
Stiles would probably know, or have an idea. Derek wasn’t sure how Stiles had always been able to read him—maybe it was the hint of ozone, the faintest bit of morning dew in his scent that Derek recognized as magic—but Derek knew Stiles would be able to help.
It was why Derek was here. Why he was trying to still his shaking fingers. His head hurt, a pressure headache that had been building for weeks, pressing against his eyes. He was still standing on Stiles’ front porch, and he curled his hands into fists. He knew how much Stiles hated it when he showed up in his room unannounced. Derek didn’t want Stiles to be mad at him before asking for help, so he knocked on the front door and waited.
When the door opened, it wasn’t Stiles’ too fast heartbeat or his usual scent. It wasn’t Stiles at all, and Derek’s heartbeat sped up at the sight of the Sheriff. The older man was wearing a frown and casual clothes, a soft sweater and faded, worn-in jeans. It was a stark difference to what he normally looked like, but even without his Sheriff’s uniform he still held an aura of power.
“Everything okay, son?” the Sheriff’s voice was firm, filled with an authority Derek would never be able to wield on his own, one he missed.
Derek shook his head, his stomach knotting with nerves. He didn’t know what to say, how to explain why he would be at the Sheriff’s front door on a Sunday afternoon. He had no excuse for his presence, no believable tale ready to be told. He hardly even knew what the truth was, himself.
“Why don’t you come in?” Derek knew it was phrased as a question, but he still nodded his head and hurried to obey. It was nice, easy, to think of it as an order and to follow it.
Derek had no idea why he thought the Sheriff would be any less observant than Stiles, but that wasn’t the case. Derek walked through the door, though he stood inside the front hall and waited. He had no idea what to do now, and his head still felt too full, the headache he had only feeling worse.
The Sheriff closed the door behind him, not taking his eyes off Derek. “So, Stiles tells me you’re the Alpha, huh?”
Derek nodded, though he was sure his surprise showed on his face. He hadn’t known that Stiles had told his dad, though he could remember Stiles talking about how much he hated the lying. He felt uncomfortable, like he was taking up too much space in the hallway. Derek didn’t know what to do with his hands, or how to hold himself.
The Sheriff held out his hand, and Derek stared at it for a long moment before he thought to offer up his own. The Sheriff grip was firm, hands calloused and warm and Derek didn’t pull his own away until the Sheriff let his hand go. “It’s nice to finally meet you, formally.”
“I-is Stiles home, Sheriff?” Derek asked, having to force the words out of his too-tight throat.
“Call me John, please. And no, he’s not right now,” The Sher—John, told him.
Derek blinked heavy eyes, trying his best to ignore the sharp disappointment in his chest. He didn’t want to go back to an empty loft, just to lay awake for another night. Or, worse, run in the preserve until his body collapsed in a desperate attempt to quiet his mind. He looked at the floor, trying to push down on the panic that was crawling up his throat.
“Come,” the Sheriff’s voice was deep, though it was calm, and Derek found the tone to be soothing.
He followed, almost happily, through the front hall and into the living room. John stopped in the middle of the room, Derek coming to a halt a step behind him. He wasn’t sure what to do now, though, and John kept staring at him. Derek wasn’t sure what he was waiting for, but whatever it was, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to give it.
He had nothing left to give.
“Are you alright?” John asked, voice laced with concern and Derek didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know how to answer that, because something was wrong, but he didn’t know what.
“What can I do to help?” the Sheriff asked, and he moved closer, gripping the back of Derek’s neck.
It was something Derek had seen him do to Stiles, when Derek had been watching the teens, back when he first returned to town. Derek wasn’t expecting his own reaction, though, and he couldn’t stop the whine before it fought its way out of his throat. His face heated up with a blush, only darkening when instead of pulling away John tangled his fingers into the short hairs along Derek’s nape.
He whined again when the man tugged, and he let his head fall to the side, exposing his neck. It caused something like excitement to rush through him, his toes and fingertips tingling. John made a pleased noise, his scent happy, and Derek puffed out his chest in pride, though he deflated as soon as John stepped away.
Derek made a noise, something questioning—words were too hard through the fog that was settling over his mind—and he swayed forward, watching John with big eyes. He settled onto a comfortable looking armchair, but Derek remained standing. He wanted to sit, sort of, but he wanted John to keep telling him what to do. He liked it.
After a moment of silence, John chuckled, the sound deep and smooth. “Do you want to sit?”
Derek shrugged, because yes he wanted to sit but more than that he wanted to…wanted to—
“Do you want to kneel for me, Derek?” Derek’s heartbeat picked up at the question, and he was nodding his head before the question had settled in his mind.
“C’mon then. Kneel,” John’s tone was stern, sure, and Derek found it so easy to obey.
It was easy to listen to John’s voice.
It felt right, and he fell to his knees at the man’s feet, between his spread legs. The pressure in his head was less than it had been, and Derek smiled softly to himself. He almost jumped when John settled a hand in his hair, brushing the strands back—petting him, but Derek didn’t mind—though he managed to stay still, and when the man scratched his fingers up Derek’s scalp he went boneless and fell forward.
He was guided to John’s thigh, his cheek pressing against the rough texture of his jeans and Derek found himself more comfortable than he thought possible. John was still running his fingers through Derek’s hair, and Derek felt his mind go quiet, the thoughts that had been fighting for space for weeks, months, slipping away.
Derek felt like he was falling. His mind was foggier than it had been, and he felt himself frown. He was…he was confused, a little. He didn’t know why he was on the floor, only that he liked it and John had told him to do so. He liked doing what John told him to do, after all.
It felt familiar, following orders.
He felt like his heart was going to beat out his chest with happiness when John called him a good boy, and the smile that spread across his face was so wide that it felt foreign.
“Really, sir?” Derek asked, his words a little slurred around his fangs—though he wasn’t sure when they had dropped—needing to be sure.
“Yes Derek, you’re a good boy,” The words felt good, so good, almost as good as the hand that was running through his hair. Derek closed his eyes, let himself do nothing but feel.
John’s heartbeat was steady and soothing. He didn’t falter in his movements, his hand continuously running along Derek’s head. Derek could hear the little noises he made every time John scratched through his hair, whenever he dragged his fingernails over Derek’s scalp, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
He felt light, safe, like he was floating in the ocean. He didn’t want it to end, and he nuzzled at the denim under his head. John chuckled so Derek did it again, let his mouth fall open as he breathed in. He felt good, so good, and his mind wasn’t running too fast, and instead it was clear and empty and quiet.
“We’ll talk about it later, alright. Now, just be a good pup and kneel for me. You can do that, can’t you Derek?” he wasn’t sure if John wanted him to answer, but he nodded his head either way, a smile pulling at his lips. “I knew you could. You’re going to be a good boy for me, and later we can talk about this, alright? For now, just relax.”
It was easy to listen to him, and Derek did. He let his eyes fall closed again, breathed in and in, smelling gun oil and sweat and something that reminded him of Stiles. John’s hand was heavy on the back of his neck, and it was easy for Derek to let himself go, with the way he was being held.
He knew John wouldn’t let him drown.
