they banned ap psych in florida cuz the class ap discusses sexuailty and gender which violates ron desantis' piece of shit dont say gay law so fuck you ron for that

in the college board statement they say it was banned because "teaching foundational content on sexual orientation and gender identity is illegal under state law" which is bullshit because these gov leaders believe anything lgbtq is a brain disease so you'd think theyd keep the brain learning class

they banned ap african american studies because "it lacks educational value and historical accuracy" which is making it easier for them to erase black history that is so intertwined with the history of this country that most everything here is so deeply antiblack

i love puppet history because it’s everything i hate about school-taught history. it’s entertaining it’s not really about wars specifically (unless they’re funny) it focuses on people’s specific lives it focuses on important and cool women it’s about people more than it is events and numbers and dates it’s got songs it’s about actually interesting topics it’s literally just such a good time. and it’s even got a little guy teaching it :)

Slowly realizing that I was taught twice as much about the bubonic plague than I was about the shoah. I feel like that's telling. We never learned anything about the shoah specifically, just that the axis and allied powers existed, that Pearl Harbor happened, and we won. Because those are, apparently, the only important parts of WWII

i legitimately cannot wrap my head around how and why companies like coca cola and amazon and every other big name you can think of continue to prioritize profits and increase prices when nobody could afford it. these companies pay their business costs and then they have billions left over for the top employees... but the top employees could just get less? for a year or two? while things get back on track? it doesn't have to be this way? this is what the government should be regulating, not schools

In 2015 a Russian media outlet (Izvestia I think?) accused the State Department of writing an email commissioning an activist to accuse certain Russian political figures of being homosexuals and the US Embassy in Moscow responded by marking up the supposed email with corrections because it didn't fit the necessary bureaucratic format and then asked Izvestia to send the Embassy a copy to proof-read first if they were going to make up emails
