Hey, take a look at wendyliammartin's tumblr. Webtoon officially doesn't tell creators that they're due to return

idk if you'll believe me when i say this (tho i don't blame you if you don't because unfortunately i don't have the receipts on this one, i just heard it from other ppl talking about it ages ago) but this is NOT. THE FIRST TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED.

for those unaware, Wendy Liam Martin is the creator of Castle Swimmer, another comic that's managed by Bre Boswell (she oversees a LITERAL FUCKTON OF COMICS). Here are the statements made on Wendy's Tumblr regarding her comic's sudden return from a hiatus that's been going on since roughly late February / early March-

Reading this was like reading a tragedy in three parts as Wendy realized her readers knew about her return date before she did. Which is just absolutely insane and - I shouldn't even have to say this - shouldn't be happening.

(btw Castle Swimmer is a very sweet comic and you should absolutely 100% read it!)

Webtoons' communication with their creators sucks ASS and it results in stuff like this happening all the time where creators find out at the last minute when they're returning from hiatus, whether they're even ready or not. IDK how Wendy's viewing this situation on her end but this feels like an absolute load of bullshit to throw her way. I hope she's at least able to get that extra week to prepare but even that feels way too sudden because not only does it not give creators a chance to plan ahead, it also doesn't give them a chance to actually build up hype for their return with their audience.

Best of luck with your return, Wendy, I hope it goes well in spite of the nonsense.

Hear Me Out: M6 as Dnd Monsters

Note: For @vesuviaweekly Prompt of 'Hear Me Out'

So, I had an idea a while back about a monster creature AU where the M6 were monster creatures. They were still themselves just monsters, and it got me thinking as another one of my loves is Dungeons and Dragons, and as most people know that has a big book dedicated to all sorts of monsters. So, with the help of my fellow players and my dm I started crafting some idea of which Dnd Monsters the M6 would be. These are just my opinions after some long thought (and help from others) and if you have any other ideas or maybe a comment or two, please don’t hesitate to comment or message. I would love to hear other people’s ideas.

Asra: Yuan Ti

So originally, I thought of a Naga since that is what I think of for half snake/half human. But when I looked them up in the Monster Manual, I realized that a Naga in Dnd is more a snake with a human looking face. So, I went on to the next snake-based race and settled on the Yuan Ti. Now Yuan Ti can come in many forms as they can have a snake as basically any body part (like really, my dm showed me), but I imagine Asra is the variety that is half human on top and snake below. His snake coloring, I always thought should be similar to Faust with the cornflower snake, and he is a very agile climber and swimmer. Asra also enjoys basking in the sun to warm along with Faust and gives great hugs.

Julian: Were-Raven

 I could make this entire list ‘Were’ creatures, but I figured that would be too easy, so I am giving that honor to Julian. I am doing this mostly because his Reverse form reminds me of Howl from ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ and that always made me think of a raven transformation. According to the Dnd lore Were-Ravens are amongst the most intelligent of the were creatures but are very rare, mostly existing in the world of Ravenloft and Strahd (one of my favorite games to play btw). They also can have three forms: Human, large raven, and human/raven hybrid. In my head I think Julian is a little embarrassed by his raven form, but he does love to fly. He also likes to nest and collect shinny things.

Nadia: Silver Dragon

I wanted something regal for Nadia as well as intelligent and in Dnd lore there is nothing more intelligent or regal then a dragon. In Dnd lore dragons have two gods who were once one, Bahamut and Tiamat. Bahamut is like the father and gentler of the two, having control of the Metallic colored dragons: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Brass. Silver in particular are probably the most human like and like the cooler weather. They are also highly intelligent and do not enjoy combat, looking to avoid it. I imagine that Nadia’s entire family could be dragons and would be a noble family house.

Murial: Giant (Storm Probably)

Like I said with Julian I could make this whole list were creatures and make Muriel a were-bear or were-wolf, but I felt that would be too easy. I wanted Muriel to be a forest protector as well as be reclusive, to which my Dm, pointed out that he would probably be a good giant. So, giants are often found in homes away from the human world, a lot of the time on mountains or in forests. Storm giants in particular get along with a lot of the native wildlife. They are also known to have magical affinity which of course connects to Muriel. Storm giants are often able to discharge electricity which would be an interesting effect I think when Muriel is upset. I have the idea that he is able to control his size with a spell, though only to an extent and sometimes has to step away into the forest when he has to grow to his actual giant size.

Portia: Were-Cat

Portia was tough to figure out because I didn’t want to just go with Tabaxi (the Dnd cat people) because it just didn’t feel right. So, I lied and made two were-creatures on this list (though I guess it makes sense they are in the same family). Were-cats, like were-ravens, have three forms (Human, cat, and a hybrid of the two) and can communicate with cats. They are also great charmers who have skills in getting out of trouble. I mean I could just imagine Portia turning into a cat and running around with Pepi. I also think she would enjoy getting head pats and scratches behind the ears.

Lucio: Red Dragon

So, I mentioned the Metallics, I now have to talk about the Chromatics. The Chromatic dragons are seen over by Tiamat and a little bit more on the malevolent side. Red dragons have fiery tempers and a great deal of pride which sounds a lot like a certain count. I imagine when he gets angry, he spouts a bit of fire from his nose and grows a bit scalier. He is also very prone to starting things on fire by accident while in a rage. He also has horns that wrap kind of like a goat.

And for a little self-indulgence:

Robin/Lark/Sparrow (My AU Apprentices): Harpies

In my monster AU, my apprentices are Harpies, half bird/half humans. Usually in Dnd lore harpies are female but I can make an exception in this case. Sparrow likes to sing but Harpies are known to lure people with a dangerous song, so she often doesn’t though Julian really enjoys her voice and they both make nests.

Lark enjoys flying and often is seen doing tricks, which is great because he has a very large love to jump off of to get some height.

Robin enjoys watching the sun set from a high perch which is good because Asra also enjoys climbing, and snuggling.

Aoi is always happy to see you, so she will always take you with her and Sakura. But this does not look like "friendship with the third extra person." You fit in very well. Now this is the most powerful trinity, you understand that?

"Hey! Y/N, can you help me with this assignment because I don't understand this subject at all?" One student complained.

"Oh, you've been asking for far from the fifth time, can you explain and help you understand how, what to do?"

But Sakura's gaze was still heavy, and the swimmer approached you, distracting you with sweets that she wanted to share with her friends at recess. "Oh, you know, I think I just figured out how to do my homework, so take it easy, thanks, bye!"

"What was it?"

"A new way to quickly learn, just like frame 25, but even more effective." Sakura joked and she went to the dining room, and you follow her.

Sonia Nevermind.

She is here to take a break from her parents and servants who run after her, watch and teach "how a real princess should behave." And the fact that you are so friendly, but especially helpful. This makes her mentally return to the castle, at a time that was unbearable for Sonya.

"Dear Y/N, please sit back and relax, I admit, no, everyone here recognizes you and your talent." Says Sonya as she pours a second cup of tea for you.

"Oh, thank you very much, I'm glad to try for all of you, but then I have to try even harder so that I don't fail in difficult times and you don't get disappointed." You answer the princess with a smile, thereby refusing her offer.

"Oh, I was hoping for your company." Dramatically, the princess raises her hand to her forehead. This is followed by a tea party for two with cookies and funny stories from both sides.

Yes, she will sometimes say something that sounds like "manipulation" if this statement is true. But Sonya does not want to do anything bad to you. It's just the one way that works for you. At the beginning. But she herself is very ashamed, therefore, in ordinary conversations, Sonya will try to convince you that you do not need to work so much. And when enough time has passed for you to accept that fact a little. These "manipulations" will go away completely. Then Sonya herself will not hate herself for making you feel.

She will do her best to answer you with the same good that you give to everyone. If she finds out that you're in trouble or you just want something. She will find it and bring it to you, even if you refuse.

After all, "Y/N, you are such a wonderful person that this gift is enough for me to express my gratitude."

Miu Iruma.

Your communication from the outside looks very comical. Usually the other classmates look at the two of you and smirk. Especially because of Miu.

"Oh go fuck me suck me hahahaha." Once Miu said this to you in front of the others, when she got tangled in the garden and fell, and you offered your help.

"Suck? Are you hurt? Is there poison? Oh God, wait, please, I'll bring everything!" You almost ran away.

"Okay, that's it, c-that's enough, I was joking, it's okay really, don't worry, look, I'm fine." Miu stood up and twirled in front of you and left quietly.

Usually she does not act vulgarly around you, because you take her literally. And after one incident, she really watches her tongue.

"Help? Help fucking yourself, and then help others, but definitely not me." She said emotionally and immediately regretted it when she saw your expression. "Oh, I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, wait!"

After this incident, the girl became a friend-mother. She's not trying to change you or anything. Miu only scolds those who ask you too much for help, even if they see that you are already tired. And for you, she is simply trying to improve your vacation or simplify your work.

Bonus.

Monomi.

Rabbit loves you as much as his other classmates. But your kindness makes me shed tears.

"So did you find out anything new? How do we get off this island?" The meeting of classmates began.

"Let's be quiet, otherwise this Monokuma will hear his assistant Monomi." Hinata began to speak, when suddenly a rabbit appeared.

"Guys, I could help you." Monomi says happily, but no one pays attention to her.

"Hey, what do you want to tell us?" You asked good-naturedly, sitting down on the floor at her level. While others were looking at you.

"What are you doing, Y/N? She works with Monokuma, and will you listen to her as well?" Souda asks suspiciously. And in the crowd you can hear Saioji chuckling.

"She was with us before he came, she suffers from his appeal to her, she takes care of us and the local nature. Why are you so callous to her? She tries to help all of us and we are here to save us, but the mastermind was on the move ahead!" You are hugging a white rabbit, who was previously very stiff and constrained due to social awkwardness, and is now ready to cry from such a speech.

Maybe the trick caught some by surprise, but still made someone at least listen and feel sorry especially when the rabbit was no more.

God I remember Purpah doing a bunch of MSA stuff back in, 2012/2013 and I LOVED her color choices. I remember when she posted the first art piece with Modeus and thinking 'I reeeaallly want this to be a comic SO BAD' AND NOW WE HAVE IT AND IT'S A 10/10. Highly recommend.

Jason Brubaker does a lot of cool stuff, and I love his colors. Plus I love that he makes his Webtoon comic as a traditional comic first, then broke apart the pages to fit the scroll format. It makes it so that you can have a printed comic AND a webtoon.

Aka I love owning physical comics and I hope more Webtoon originals can be printed. Not just Lore Olympus.

Erma

This comic has BONE vibes and I love it so much. I seriously think there should be more black/white wecomics. Not just because manga, no, it makes the process quicker and it makes printing comics SO MUCH EASIER. I love colors, but color correcting for print is a PROCESS.

Okay, I'll rant hehe. And thanks for the recs, I'll check them out.

So, the thing I love the most about LO is the original but fitting take on the mythology. Especially the way the world is build. How Hades for example build the underworld from the ground up. You can see the different time periods by the clothes and buildings, representing the amount of time it took to build it. I also love that at this point it isn't done yet, that Kore (I love calling her Kore like Hades) is working on a heaven like something( can't remember the name).

I LOVE that the humans are (olive)brown, when Rachel could have made them white, like I love that no much. It's representation!!! I like that the gods don't have human skin tones and that they have different body types. It's very refreshing.

Don't forget the plot!!! Rachel made sure to have many storylines that need working out, but don't happen after each other, if you get my point. The plots happen at the same time, just like in the ancient stories. They mingled and in LO they do too.

Zeus is a spoiled dick, but that's the point. I don't know where you are, but I love that Zeus isn't portraited as the almighty man, but as a spoiled big unfair baby.

The amazing female empowerment and you have some queer gods. This was my rant, I can't think of anything else at the moment. I hope you liked it, let me know what you think.

I’m pretty hard to crack honestly but if something makes my heart go mushy it’s friendship? Like if I see a beautiful supportive friendship of two people who trust each other unconditionally my heart just melts. Cheeta and Patsu of Castle in the sky (my favorite ghibli movie btw)is a prime example of that. Everyone deserves a friend like Patsu!

ughhhh dammit, I love so many colours especially pastels but if you really want me to choose it’s burgundy? I like any colour with some violet in it to be fair…

My initial thought was “cats!” but I can keep some once I moved out so that doesn’t count. And this now, is goin to sound completely stupid but ..blonde hair. I wanted to be blondewith bright green eyes (I’m a sucker for green eyes)  since I was a small child. My hair is dark brown with a lot of red in it so colouring it isn’t really an option my skintone also doesn’t fit well with blonde hair so rip my aesthetics…

I dreamed I failed my music test, which I was supposed to be writing today but it was cancelled…

natural,since I don’t wear make up, I never learned how to use it properly. I’ll look like clown if I would try it now also i feel uncomfortable with it.

Neither I’m terrified of insects (and spiders) of any kind so even a butterfly will freak me out. I love both but I’m more of a cat person.

DIY Palawan

Named as one of the best islands in the world, Palawan doesn’t have to remain just a dream destination even though you’re on a tight budget. There are actually lots of ways to enjoy Puerto Princesa without breaking a bank.

It was our first time to do a DIY travel. I arranged and planned everything and had my mom as my companion. It was my birthday present for her btw. I’ve been keeping it from her for months and I was glad when the time came I finally told her about our trip and we were so happy and excited.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY

DAY 1 — ARRIVAL

At exactly 3:15PM, our plane arrived at PPS Airport (thank you Air Asia for the safe and on time flights J).  I got our tickets for only Php 201! I had it booked months before this trip. 

TIP NO.1 would be to look for cheap flights first and everything can be arranged for later.

Where to stay?

We stayed at JAMP Pension Inn located at Sta. Monica, PPS.  We were greeted warmly by their staff. We were the only guests (I guess because the place seemed so quiet, plus it’s not peak season yet). It was clean, there’s a cable TV, WiFi, clean towels, and a comfortable bed. A night at JAMP Pension costs Php 600 (good for two, inclusive of everything—taxes, charges etc.) and there’s breakfast too! I’d say, it was a great deal already.  We rested when we arrived, my mom was kinda tired because she came from 2 flights, LGZ—MNL and MNL—PPS, so basically, our 1st day was just to rest from an exhausting flight and prepare ourselves for the adventures ahead.

**PS: JAMP Pension Inn is kinda far from the city (and around 45 mins away from the airport, but they provide shuttle service to and from the airport for FREE). I love it there btw, it’s very quiet and peaceful, and very relaxing. It is also accessible to public transpo, so nothing to worry about.

DAY 2 – HONDA BAY ISLAND HOPPING TOUR

Thinking about the hassle of getting permits from the City Hall, etc., I decided to just have our Honda Bay and Underground River Tours be taken care of people who know how to arrange it. I booked our 2 trips at Palawan Batak Tours and Travel Inc. and I personally recommend them because they offer budget friendly tours, plus, Mr. Gerson was very accommodating and understanding. He didn’t pressure me on the mode of payment (hehe my mom forgot to withdraw cash and I only had 2k with me, lol poor us) good thing I settled my payments thru online banking (yay, I really love BDO, haha).

Lol, anyway, as I was saying, I chose the hassle free Honda Bay tour; we were picked up around 6:45AM. Honda Bay Wharf was just 15-20minutes away from our stay so by 7:00AM, we were already preparing for the Island Hopping.

TIP: If you have your own snorkeling equipment and crocs, better bring it with you. Snorkeling gears and sandals are being rented at Php 150 each.

Our tour guide was Ms. Shai, a pleasant lady who is a real Palawan folk and has been a tour guide for quite a long time now, she shared alot of things — its origin and many interesting facts.

There were three islands that we visited, namely:

Pambato Reef (Snorkeling activity)

Luli Island (Photo ops)

Cowrie Island (Lunch buffet)

It was a low tide so we couldn’t visit Star Fish Island; instead, we visited Pambato Reef for our snorkeling activity. At first I was hesitant because I am not a good swimmer, not good at breathing underwater either, lol, but thanks to the boatmen who encouraged us plunge in the water. It was magnificent. There was a different world underneath, corals and fishes, all in perfect harmony. There are lots of fishes of different colors and sizes, beautiful corals and just clear waters. Too bad I didn’t have a GoPro, huhu. I was convincing my mom to dive in but she said she’s afraid, I couldn’t convince her.

After an hour underwater, we transferred to Luli Island. The sand was white and fine. There were sand castles and the water was crystal clear, there were fishes but no corals. We did a lot of photo ops, c/o boatmen, not only they’re boatmen but they’re also excellent photographers. Haha

The last island was Cowrie Island. We had our lunch buffet and the food being served were as fresh as the sun. The shrimp, the oyster, the vegetables, everything! It was one of the best parts of the trip! Hehe, we spent the rest of the day relaxing at Cowrie Island. The sand was extra fine and extra white, there were trees and little huts and unlimited food!

We were dropped by at our inn around 2PM; we ate at a carenderia outside, and enjoyed the comfort of our room until we fell asleep.

DAY 3- UNDERGROUND RIVER TOUR

We were picked up at 7:00AM. It was a long drive to Sabang Wharf and the zigzag road was exhausting. We reached Sabang Port around 8:30AM and waited for our number to be called. Our tour guide, Ms. Shai told us that around 1,600++ tourists are visiting the Underground River that day, good thing we arrived early. Underground River is one of the Seven Wonders of Nature and has been renamed to Subterranean Underground River to avoid confusions, but for us it is more popularly known as the Underground River. There were lots of tourists already on queue when we arrived and Ms. Shai advised us that it might take a long wait. To kill time, mom and I decided to roam around and buy our food. Tshirts were being sold so we bought our pasalubong shirts. It didn’t cost much; in fact, it was just a fair price.

****Though shirts are cheaper at the Pasalubong Center, my mom and I decided to buy our shirts at Sabang. Let’s help by buying at small scale vendors! (there’s only a Php10 difference) 

At last our number was called and we were ready to go. It was a 20-30 minute boat trip and I felt dizzy, the boat was small and the waves were huge!

Upon reaching the shore, we were given with audio devices. We waited again for our number to be called before entering the river. We were given brief orientations and were asked to wear safety helmets.  Upon entering the entrance of the cave, I thought there wasn’t anything special about it, I even wondered what made it Nature’s wonder, and I was ashamed to even think of that. As we progressed inside the cave, I couldn’t help but wonder how it became so beautiful and perfect and mysterious. I was mesmerized by the beauty inside, the rock formations, stalagmites and stalactites, everything amazing. It was a one of a kind experience; I just couldn’t explain the feeling. It was a 45-minute boat tour inside the cave. Our boatman was kenkoy and was a jolly one as he toured us inside.

We went to pasalubong center afterwards for the keychains and pearls.

We went home by riding a multicab.

DAY 4- City Tour

I decided to just do city tour by ourselves, because a) we’ve got all our time for our expense b) we want to explore the city by ourselves c) we want to meet the locals of PPS d) we’re really cutting our budget short.

And so we did, mom and I decided to begin our day at 7:00AM. We just wore our ordinary walking shorts and a comfy shirt and just put our hats on.

City tour promos range from Php 600-1200/person. If you’re not into so much exploring and just want to take a look at the city without much hassle, then you can just pay for the city tours offered by travel agencies. Anyway, you can also hire a trike and tour around the city, usual price is 400-600/ride (100/hr for some). If you’re planning to tour the city on your own, then I suggest that you wake up early and secure yourself a checklist and a map in case you get lost. 

Locals of Puerto Princesa are very cheerful and helpful people, they are always ready to assist you, in case you’re getting lost, don’t hesitate to ask. I did a separate post for the city tour, in case you’re interested to explore the city yourself.

Thank you so much! It’s something I’ve been working on for about a year and a half now. The idea went through a lot of changes but the main trio has remained pretty consistent. I’m still developing it even now so I’m curious to see what kind of story it will be when I finish castle swimmer and actually start making it. And it wasn’t inspired by spread you wings, I just happen to really like bird people stories so I’ve had multiple ideas haha. Thanks so much for your interest!!
