leona who is sat behind you in class— y’all’s shared college professor monologuing about the ancient literature of briar valley, something or other about its influence on modern literature, etc.

of course this is one of leona’s least favorite classes, one he sleeps through most often which he’s currently doing while you’re desperately attempting to pay attention.

yet you keep getting side tracked by the way he’s used your shoulder to prop his head on, one of his ears twitching because a piece of your hair is tickling it. the soft fluff of his fur flicking against your neck sending little shivers down your spine— and with a little sigh you move the piece of hair irritating him out of the way, a little huff escaping him in his sleep and you swear it almost sounds like there’s a little purr muffled in it?

and it’s instinct that kicks in when your hand naturally goes to pet him, the fur of his ears soft against your palm— it’s calming and hypnotizing and you can’t stop yourself from absentmindedly petting him to get yourself through the class.

but you’ve lost all focus on the professor preaching his lecture in front of you— it’s all undividedly aimed at leona who’s purring has gotten louder, the vibrations rumbling from his chest and into your shoulder, his head leaning further into your palm and his face pressing deeper into the crook of your shoulder, he is blissfully unaware of how loud his purr has gotten and who are you to wake up a sleeping lion?
