Audiodrama Sunday 6/9/2024

I have so much to say this week! I usually take some very quick notes as to what I want to say in these as I listen to stuff, but this week I have a ton of notes. Also, I made a Tumblr Community for audiodramas. If you want an invite, please ask me! Also, if you can figure out how to reblog posts into a community, which is supposedly a thing you can do, please tell me.

To start off, season 16 of Lost Terminal started this week. It feels great to be back in this world, this show is so cozy. I love the little programming tidbits in this show, as a nerdy programmer into conlangs and hard scifi this show feels like it was made for me specifically. It looks like the premise for this season is an entire season that takes place over 10 seconds, which is such an incredibly cool idea. I love how they are leaning into the relative time different between humans and AIs due to processing speed.

@worldsbeyondpod had so many crazy moments I have to talk about. First off *music change* "roll a stealth check for the fox" out of nowhere was terrifying. I truly felt Erika's gasp when Brennan said the words "patchy corduroy witch hat". I haven't even gotten to the biggest moment in this episode. Holy shit poor Straw. This story has so much moral nuance, I'm obsessed with @quiddie's defense of Suvi on tumblr since the last episode. Speaking of Aabria, "fuck your scene" was so perfect. Finally, Glassheart moment spotted at the end of the episode. Even though it will never happen, I will forever be a Glassheart shipper.

@worldgonewrongpod this week was very fun. It is weird that I was picturing a specific tree at a small local park I walk through all the time whenever the tree was being described? I cannot unlink that tree and this episode in my mind. The reenacted council meeting was great, I'm excited for the update to this episode at the end of the season. Also, I'm not sure I've said this yes, but the theme song for this show is perfect. I've already added it to my playlist.

@wanderersjournalpod ended on a cliffhanger this week. Are we finally going to learn Pluto's whole deal next week? I can't wait to find out.

@midstpodcast that was a hell of an opening scene. This whole episode showed such an interesting side of Weep. I want to avoid spoilers for this show, but that ending god damn. That is not what I expected. We must be getting close to the end of the season, they resolved the opening scene and the episodes are getting much longer. Looking at the lengths of the previous season, there's probably 2 more episodes.

A very short update from my dear friend over at @re-dracula this week. Renfield is so unsettling. I don't actually know anything about Renfield, so I'm learning as I go. I think he's some sort of vampire spawn?

@breakerwhiskey I caught up and what the fuck. This show keeps twisting the knife. Hey, at least Birdie is finally talking in real time again. She confirmed Whiskey's theory, which is nice, and finally gave us her backstory. Then the second reveal in a later episode, holy shit Harry. This really explains the whole dynamic between Whiskey and Harry. This was the big fight Whiskey keeps referencing.

I listened to the first episode of season 2 of Skyjacks Courier's Call. The city that it's going to be set in is really cool, and I loved the Fun Money shenanigans. Going on a road trip tomorrow and I'm going to listen to a lot more of it.

Finally, there was a new SCP: Find Us Alive this week. This was a cool episode, I really liked the art show. But the big thing was the very end of this episode. My theory was right! Sometimes, when talking into the mic, Harley was subject to the memetic effect and forgot what he was talking about. But only sometimes. They've established that it only happens if someone can hear you. This meant that every time he forgot, someone was listening! Great foreshadowing!

Because of the aforementioned road trip, I'm going to post this a few hours early. This is at least better than my usual time of "forgetting it until the last moment."

Hello 👋. This is the 1st time I ask a question. I recently started following your blog after someone reblogged a pic of your oc Alice 💜😍🐢. I spent the past few days searching for all posts about her. I love the background story that you gave her. I love that she's not a Mary sue and that she's raised differently than the turtles since she's not a fighter like Jennika and most versions of Venus which is a fresh background story. The pics with her and Donnie made me squeal of how cute they are 🤩. I just wanna ask if there are pics of Donnie being the lovable dork that he is around Alice? We've seen how badly Donnie acts when he's panicked like when he beheaded the Fugitoid, so I was wondering if he would act the same around Alice at first maybe by non-stop nerd talking about science and complex stuff most people wouldn't understand. My other question, was Alice forced to learn ninja stuff when she started living with the turtles to defend herself or not since it's hard to learn martial arts if you start from zero as an adult? Please forgive me for the long ask, I got too excited 🫣

I’m so thrilled that you like her so much! That honestly means so much to me! I’ve had made up Alice almost 15 years ago now and I’m still enjoying messing around with her character! There is absolutely nothing wrong with kick butt female characters. We can always use more of them and they’re all great! But I’ve always enjoyed characters who rely on kindness as their strength. Which makes it more impressive on Alice’s case, considering her rough start in life. Strength comes from all kinds of places; not just physically.

I think I got a recent sketch of Donnie nerding out about space with Alice I did last summer, but this inspired me to dive into it more because Alice loves listening to his nerdy vents, but it can be a bit hard to keep up with it. She didn’t even know what was above the surface until she met the turtles, so all of this is new to her. Thankfully though, Donnie is incredibly patient!

As for her knowledge with martial arts, I think it’s generally hard for her to pick up on any combat skills. Alice is and was never a fighter. But she definitely learns quite a bit and picks up on a few minor things with stealth, mediation, and maybe some basic defense. The main goal for her would be to avoid the fights if she can.

-People that justify cruel or unjust behavior under the guise of being a "good person."

-People who refuse to acknowledge the difference between empathizing with/understanding a perspective and condoning it.

-If you romanticize serial killers or mass shooters in any capacity, get the hell away from us. We are not your friends. We have zero tolerance for this. No, Postal Dude, a character written with a deliberately anti-violence message, is not just like your favorite mass shooter. Get professional help, bud. We will not harass you nor encourage harm to you, but if you are forcing your views into the Postal fandom, we will say something about it.

-Proshippers: We will not harass or attack you as that serves no purpose, but we also will not tolerate you justifying harmful paraphilias.

-Syscourse: We are traumagenic. We find people/systems being incredibly cruel to each other on both sides of the argument. Abusing, harassing, and fake claiming is not ok to do. This stands no matter how frustrating or misinformed some people may be over system related information. Human psychology is still in its infancy in terms of understanding the complexities of many disorders.

Your Tumblr Statline definitely seems like it'd be different for your blog than it would for your biological instance, but the only difference I'm semi-sure of would be that you don't do much flirting on here, on account of it not being a great place for you to do so. LST is a private matter, anyway.

Beyond that... Your lowest stat is WOE but your stat-combination techs would still let you be a situational Melancholist, leaving JST your actual weakest area; critfishers just need more attack speed than you've got, though at least you aren't helpless if the party needs it. I might also be missing some kind of broken buff/element combination there; Nine Ring Circus doesn't explain those mechanics very clearly, let alone tutorialize them. Your FUR stat is only a little higher but the techs have much higher sustain, so you're a lot better at it in practice. WRD is high statwise but low damage; most of your passives and defensive buffs scale off it, including most of the roles JST is generally used for I think. NDV is your highest stat that attacks scale off of, because you add it to everything, sometimes more than once. It starts higher than WRD but grows slower and is now a little behind, though that's not at all obvious from your derived stats.

Overall: High-durability Support/NDV Burst Damage. Might be able to tank if external aggro management is available; native abilities better suited to stealth and evasion.

Broadly agreed about WOE, and about JST in the tumblr context, although I'm not actually managing to envision what sorts of WOE-related combos you're thinking of, offhand.

I suspect you're underestimating my LST-in-the-tumblr-context, possibly due to not following my art-reblogging sideblog. Although I suppose it's true that my rates of flirting per se on tumblr are relatively low, even there.

(Speaking for myself, I'm not treating LST as particularly private; it's just sort of only an occasional thing for it to come up as relevant in my posts, on this blog, and particularly for it to do so in a central / not-just-offhand fashion, because I've got a general thing here where I've kind of ~carved out a niche I'm accustomed to posting-style-and-content-wise and have increasing amounts of trouble making posts the farther I move away from that style.)

FUR is probably the most ~difficult-to-place stat for me when analyzing myself, so your analysis there is particularly interesting. It fits, I suppose! Not many stat points invested in it, but getting good effects out of the ones I have invested.

As for WRD and NDV: your analysis here is very interesting, because it feels in some sense opposite to how I'd probably have analyzed the two. Although I agree that I've got pretty high levels of both, and I find them to be so intertwined around one another that it's hard to tell where one starts and the other ends, so I suppose that shouldn't be too surprising. But I usually think of NDV as the one I use for background synergies / passives / etc., while WRD is my main active stat both for offense and defense, and your analysis contrasts interestingly with that! Now I'm vaguely curious what it is that led your impressions to diverge from mine here.

(And then your analysis doesn't seem to include ART, and so I will refrain from commenting here on it for purposes of not biasing any future analyses you may do there.)

The gig had bad days, but the people made it worthwhile - one client who she was fond of taught her the ins and outs of netrunning before he ended up catatonic in a bathtub full of ice. Work was stable for years until her boss borrowed money from the wrong people and skipped town, leaving the club at the mercy of new management. V put up with outright abuse from her employers and the new clientele for months, before their brains all ended up fried in a mysterious incident that shut the club down for good. Now, V’s using the skills she picked up over the years to carve out a life for herself as a merc in Night City. 🗙 When it comes to conversation, Valencia learned how to be an open book - unless you ask about her family life. When a customer asked, the story always changed; but the fact that she was born and raised in Heywood remained the same. Thanks for replying. Not trying to be confrontational, I asked because I cultivate my online presence very specifically and want to nip that shit in the bud whenever I see it. Don’t really have the patience to deal with the intricacies of that or whatever, again why I asked straight to the point. And I can’t really read your about from mobile, don’t have any way to see that beforehand.

Completely understandable; I actually hadn't considered the accessibility of my blog on mobile so that's good information. I need to revamp it anyway.

And yeah I get that! I don't know you, absolutely zero concept as to what your life is like or even your age, but regardless I feel that everyone should carefully curate their online experience. We live in a fucking hellscape where there are no safe spaces for specifically adults to be away from minors, and vice versa, so you're being left with no choice.

The issue I take with trying to put people into boxes like "proship" and "anti" is just that though, I feel like it puts all the responsibility on art and chooses to end the conversation there. The least of my concerns are the kind of art people draw or the ships they have, what I'm concerned about is if they're entering fandom spaces with the specific intent of preying on anyone - in this case minors, but it can be anybody. Some people will do that, some people even go the extra mile and weaponize the parasocial relationships they form with their fans. It's not a tried and true formula, though.

No one should have to doubt my intentions solely by art or interest - of which are all very banal and far separated from what online defines as being proship, I guess I should note that in here to ensure my words aren't misconstrued. I shouldn't have to explain that to anyone based on a single reblogged post; I shouldn't have to detail out my history working in child care, dealing with victims of child abuse, and that being the cause of my having to quit because it was starting to make me so angry and hateful that there was nothing I could do, just to ensure people KNOW despite everything that I'm not a secret stealth threat, but online spaces have been curated in such a way by capitalism and influencer culture, the exposure of so many beloved creators as having abused their child audiences, what else can you do? What else are we left to do? I would think more than we're currently doing, or we'll be running in circles.

But those nuances are my responsibility to think about, I'm 31 after all.

Here's an "Awesome!" & throwback birthday drawing for Jason 🐶⭐ (VI - Cuteness Mecha Leader). 🙂

A powerful upgraded for his armored "Astray Red Frame"! 😁 With triple gun blades (two weapons holding in and one at his backpack) and a newly look V-Fin on his forehead with energy V-form revealed (called the "Ddraig") , Astray Jason becomes a "RED DRAGON"! 🔴🐲 Now his cerbera straight won't be alone this time by equipping three gun bladed weapons called The "Caletvwlch". A total of 4 blades, he can now do some slice 'n dice through opponent(s)! 😁⚔️

Astray Jason Red Dragon Came from the real: MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Dragon

Armament(s):

• Beam Saber: Red Dragon is equipped with two beam sabers for close combat, they are located on the Red Frame's backpack which is lowered to the waist when the Flight Unit is equipped.

• "Gerbera Straight": A katana sword that is extremely sharp, and does not rely on the kinetic energy of a high-speed swing to cut. Unlike the normal Red Frame, Powered Red mounts the "Gerbera Straight" behind the left shoulder. This gigantic katana sword forge and created by Lowe.

• Caletvwlch: A customizable multipurpose equipment created by Lowe and mass produced by Junk Guild. The Caletvwlch is meant for cutting and induction welding, but can be used for combat if the limiter is disabled via a voice command. However, doing so would contravene the "prohibition of armed civilian armor" provisions, except when it is used for self-defense. The equipment normally consists of two blades and a welding torch, and is powered by an internal battery. During combat, it can function as a gun (aka G mode, where the welding torch functions as a beam rifle) or can be reconfigured into a sword (aka S mode).

It also has a scattering device that releases Mirage Colloid particles to help maintain the suit's balance while it moves in mid-air and to allow it to remain stationary in the air with ease. The particles can also create an air current to propel the MS and be used to detect any movements in the surrounding area. An unintended side effect is that the scattered Mirage Colloid particles can disrupt the Mirage Colloid stealth system of other armors nearby.

There is also the full disable mode, whereby the safety limit of the Caletvwlch is disregarded allowing it to fire a dangerously high amount of energy at its target, destroying it in one hit. However, doing this damages the Caletvwlch and renders it unusable. The Red Dragon has three Caletvwlchs on the Flight Pack, and their mirage control capabilities are improved due to synergistic effects.

Special Equipment(s) / Feature(s):

• External connector: A connector for attaching additional equipment to the back of the suit. It is similar in function to the hardpoint on the back of the Strike armor. The connector is exposed when the Red Frame's backpack is lowered to the back skirt armor.

• Flight unit: A modified version of the original M1 Astray's flight unit, the flight unit seems to be attached to the external connector on Red Frame's back and serves only as a supplemental booster as Red Frame's backpack is still present. In the Red Dragon form, the Flight unit is modified to allow the mounting of three Caletvwlch units.

• Ddraig Head: A head unit designed by Lowe Guele, it is to be used in conjunction with the Caletvwlch. It has enhanced sensors, Mirage Colloid control functions in corporation with the Caletvwlch, and can emit a beam antenna in various shapes depending on the need from the back of the V-fin.

I have written a little bonus gift for @doctorhelena based on a conversation we had about the chain of gas stations called Buc-ee’s. It’s very silly.

“Is that—guys, I think we actually found him,” Clint said.

Steve turned to look at the man getting out of a battered pickup truck that Clint was pointing at. “Bucky?”

The man looked up. “Hey, Steve.”

“‘Hey, Steve,’ just like that?” Sam said.

“What?” Bucky asked, shrugging his shoulders. “We may be in Texas, but I’m not going to say ‘howdy’.”

Steve laughed at that. “Sounds like you’re glad to see us, then?”

“I am,” Bucky replied. “Figured you’d find me eventually.”

“I have to admit, when we got a tip you were in Paris, this wasn’t the Paris I was expecting. How long have you been hiding here?” Nat wondered.

“Since after D.C.,” Bucky said.

“You’ve been here for two years?” Clint asked.

“Yep.” Bucky reached into his pants pocket, pulling out a plastic name tag and pinning it to his shirt. “Can we continue this inside? I’m going to be late for my shift.”

“Your shift?” Sam glared at the name tag that had the name ‘Bucky’ printed on it. “You work here?”

“Yep.”

“You’ve been working under your own name at a Buc-ee’s gas station for two years while we’ve been running all over the world trying to find you?” Sam clarified.

“Yep.”

“I hate you so much.”

“Well, I had to work somewhere,” Bucky pointed out. “Super-soldier’s gotta eat.”

“You chose Buc-ee’s on purpose, though, didn’t you?” Steve guessed.

Bucky smirked. “Yep.”

Steve laughed again. “You’re such a punk.”

“That’s my line,” Bucky replied.

“Hey, guys did you—whoa, we found him?” Scott exclaimed, bursting through the door of the gas station.

“Yes, we found him, and what in the world is that on your head?” Nat asked.

Scott reached up a hand to touch the brim of his new Stetson. “A cowboy hat.”

“You’re not so much with the stealth, are you?” Clint asked.

“I think we blend in a lot better than you guys do,” Scott countered, slinging an arm over Wanda’s shoulder. She had come out a few steps behind him, wearing a pink cowboy hat with a rhinestone band.

“I don’t know who this guy is, but he’s right,” Bucky agreed. He nodded to the rest of them in their sunglasses and baseball caps. “Did you guys come from a baseball game or something?”
