Yes, people do need to take accountability for the partners they choose to date, at least to some extent. And no, this doesn't apply to abusive relationships, that situation is entirely different.

I'm talking about white people who date other white people who are openly racist. I'm talking about "allies" who date other people who are openly homophobic and transphobic. I'm talking about liberal women who date very conservative men. And seeing bigotry as nothing more than a "political issue."

Of course, it's different if your partner lies and actively hides their political views from you. But if your partner is openly voting for people like Trump, openly supporting conservative politicians, openly hating/harming minority groups, then you should leave them. And you should be held accountable if you to choose to stay with someone like that.

we have to stop using PayPal as a payment service and I'm genuinely not fucking joking. it's an actual SCAM that is only popular because some large companies adopted it as an option, and then sold it as the defacto option.

there's a bunch of different, other payment options like revolut, cashapp, and stripe that work better and aren't actually predatory on your wallet, and that actually, y'know, WORK as intended. I personally love revolut and find it works for everything I need it to do, stripe is also good but honestly anything other than paypal is preferable.

because, not only did they facilitate scamming hundreds of thousands of dollars out of people with the paypal honey scam, not only did paypal mastercard have a horrific and damaging impact on sex workers and the adult artist sphere, not only does the app just not fucking work as intended... paypal also holds your money hostage for indeterminate amounts of time, and takes a ridiculous cut just as an extra fuck you.

stop using paypal if you can and start diversifying your options because it truly is not a good enough service to justify how ubiquitous it is.

It always annoys me when people make fun of Dante for not being as well adjusted as Nero despite being significantly older than him and calling Dante a manchild and stuff.

Like ok Nero obviously had a rough life and it shows with his anger issues and how he often feels the need to put on a tough guy act in front of anyone who isn’t Kyrie. But he had people who supported him throughout his life and helped guide him. A dev (I think it was Itsuno but I could be wrong) even said Nero would’ve ended up just like Vergil if he hadn’t met Kyrie.

Dante didn’t have that kind of guidance growing up, and the people who he could actually trust always ended up dead so from a relatively young age he was taught that everyone he gets close to will die just because he’s Sparda’s kid. He never had anything even vaguely resembling a normal life past the age of 8 so no wonder he is the way he is. DMC has this heavy theme about how people are often shaped by their experiences and I wish more people understood that.

Again, NOT downplaying Nero’s difficult childhood. Just explaining why he comes across as better adjusted than Dante.

i feel like the fandom underestimates lena way too much.

when she first gave gwen the job, i saw people talking about how "pathetic and stupid" she was to allow herself to be blackmailed, when i'm pretty sure she knew what she was doing, especially considering how calmly she responded to gwen's attempts at blackmail. she would NOT be that nonchalant if she actually feared getting her secret exposed.

similarly, after the new episode, people are acting like lena knows nothing about what gwen did when i'm pretty sure she does. i may be wrong but lena definitely seems to know a lot more than she lets on and she's two steps ahead of everyone. i think she's just playing dumb so that people won't suspect anything.

i mean, come on. she's dealt with externals, many of which were likely normal human beings or worse, rich assholes (see: lady mowbray). not to mention, she already knows how much gwen despises her. she's seen how petty (and incompetent) gwen is. do y'all really think she's dumb enough to trust gwen after all that?

*sigh* thoughts on Nintendo's botw/totk timeline shenanigans and tomfoolery?

tbh. my maybe-unpopular opinion is that the timeline is only important when a game's place on the timeline seriously informs the way their narrative progresses. the problem is that before botw we almost NEVER got games where it didn't matter. it matters for skyward sword because it's the beginning, and it matters for tp/ww/alttp (and their respective sequels) because the choices the hero of time makes explicitly inform the narrative of those games in one way or another. it matters which timeline we're in for those games because these cycles we're seeing are close enough to oot's cycle that they're still feeling the effects of his choices. botw, however, takes place at minimum 10 thousand years after oot, so its place on the timeline actually functionally means nothing. botw is completely divorced from the hero of time & his story, so what he does is a nonissue in the context of botw link and zelda's story. thus, which timeline botw happens in is a nonissue. honestly I kind of liked the idea that it happened in all of them. i think there's a cool idea of inevitability that can be played with there. but the point is that the timeline exists to enhance and fill in the lore of games that need it, and botw/totk don't really need it because the devs finally realized they could make a game without the hero of time in it.
