"not all autistics are low-empathy!!!! some are really high-empathy!!!!!" okay cool good great. but are you like... normal about autistics who are low-empathy, though? because people with low empathy exist and are normal people. are you normal about them?

YOU.
ARTIST.
REBLOG YOUR OWN ART.
im being so serious. this is absolutely my sagest advice for any artist posting on tumblr. reblog your own art. do it at whatever arbitrary time you set up for yourself, once or twice a day, a few times throughout the week, randomly and whenever you remember to. it does not matter.
things can get flooded in the tags, you could post at a time that no one who would want to see the art would, your art could even just get eaten by tumblr itself because it is prone to doing that.
if you want people to see your art, youre allowed to wave it in front of their face and say "HEY LOOK!!!! LOOK I MADE THIS! ME! I MADE THIS!!!!!"
it might feel disheartening, especially if youre the only one reblogging your own work, but i swear to god it is worth it i cannot tell you how many times i have bumped one of my posts only to get someone in the tags going "HOW DID I MISS THIS??????"
it is not wrong of you to want to show off the work that youre proud of. reblog your own art.

actually this is a thing i want to write a post about.
there is a clear and obvious double standard with how people react to fanart vs how they react to fanfic. i am not talking about random youtubers reacting to fanfic to make a quick buck, im specifically talking about fan spaces.
it is incredibly common, in my experience, for people to leave unsolicited critique on fanfic. be it little things like correcting typos or more major things like saying that a fic did a bad job delivering on what it set out to do (that is a real thing ive been told!!!).
on the flip side, it is MUCH less common to get comments like this on fanart. even things the artists recognize as mistakes get glossed over in favor of looking at the cool art someone made! because someone made that! for free!!!!
people who write fic are very rarely writers my trade. they make mistakes. pointing out those mistakes is a very good way to make someone feel bad about their work. people will ask for critique or help with editing if they want it. giving unsolicited advice is often more harmful than helpful. and one or two things being spelled wrong or phrased weirdly isnt going to ruin the experience.
