NOW WHO JUST VISITED MY YARD?

So a few months back, I started getting ads for a game called Tokyo Debunker. The ads had WILDLY different tones and genres, not entirely unusual for mobile game ads, and usually I just ignore it when this happens. They want me to be curious so they can get me to download. It's a cheap, common trick, not worth my attention.

This time though, the ads were so bizarre and disconnected that it actually worked on me. I HAD to know what this game was about.

For context, here are all the screenshots I took of these ads:

So, we're getting essentially three distinct genres of ads here: Dating Sim game, Horror game, and Cute Casual Cartoon Cat game. I think it's really the horror imagery that put these ads above the rabble. It was too high-effort and offputting. Normal clickbait goes for as generic and appealing as possible.

So, what was the truth? What IS the game, actually?

Well, uh.

Here are the actual screenshots I've taken in-game:

It's not just the ads that are all over the place, that's for sure. It turns out this IS a horror dating game filled with cute cats!

I'll explain further: the main mode of the game is a visual novel (that "story" button on the fourth screenshot) which occasionally has comic panels in the middle of scenes. In the background, you have the "Campus" where you can build facilities that generate currency that you can use to upgrade or build more facilities, and these gradually passively increase your character stats. What are stats for? Why, you can have your characters do battle with monsters or other players' teams! It's an auto-battler sort of thing so it's not very involved, but powering up the characters is surprisingly convoluted. Wait, how do you get "characters"? Oh, there's a gacha too! (The "summon" button.) The gacha is kinda shit to be honest; rates are bad enough but they lumped equipment and characters into the same banners, so even when there's a "rare guaranteed in 10 pulls" it might not even be a character.

It's definitely a romance game, though not the sort with "routes" or even story choices, really--you can get characters' affinity scores up outside of the story by making them fish or taking them camping (oh yeah the fishing is to summon cats to eat the fish and then if you're quick you can take photos of the cats, Neko Atsume style--) but nothing in the course of the story changes.

Honestly, I think this game is great. I've completed all the available chapters of the story so far, and the writing and characters are great. I love the horror too, and I really appreciate that they don't pull any punches with it just because this is fundamentally a game about flirting with eccentric 2D men. I hope in the future they revamp the gacha system to make it less ass.

Lightning round of ✨which aspects of these ads were accurate?✨

Rescue Him-- That artwork is in the game, but the minigame is not, and there is no need to "rescue him". He's fine. That's just Jiro. He's always like this.

Do You Always?-- That artwork is also in the game, though I'm not sure why Jin is labelled "guy from cafeteria". The UI is also not right.

Who is Cheating Whom?-- This one is interesting. Not only is this scene entirely fabricated (and the player is never tasked with solving riddles like this), I can only identify one of the characters. The guy on the right looks like Ren (albeit wearing another character's earring) but I have no idea who the guy on the left is? Rui or Towa are my best guesses, but I've heard that these ads just sometimes fabricate entire characters. That octopus is in the game though.

Vegetable Ninja-- Not a real minigame. That cat is one of the ones you can get in the Neko Atsume clone guild cat album, and it can indeed be seen slicing carrots.

Cat Town?-- This is real, just with more of the collectible cats added for flavour. (You can even see this area in one of my screenshots!) In the actual game, there ARE cats running around delivering messages, as well as chibi versions of the anime boys.

Eye Monster-- This monster is actually real! She appears in the beginning chapter. The human in front of her however, doesn't look like the protagonist or anyone else currently in the game. You also never see that pixelart style.

Customize Your Crush-- Not a real feature. You can pick which character you want on the home screen and can change their outfit to a limited extent, but you can't freely undress them or mess with their features. That character is named Alan though, and they did just release a shirtless card of him. Hi Alan!

Slenderman, Sadako, and Jeff the Killer-- Breaks my heart to say, they are not in the game. There is an anomaly that kind of looks like Slenderman, I suppose? The "You have been cursed" tagline is actually true though; in the beginning of the game, you DO get cursed.

Bathing in Blood-- Curiously, this scene is in the game... but it's not a horror scene. It's not sketched like that, it's not red and black and white, there's no explicit or implied blood. It's just a brief fanservicey scene of Leo in the bath.

Cat on Rails-- This one is the closest to being an actual minigame! There's an overhead view of a cat running along in the rhythm game "bonus stages" you get in-between some of the autobattler stages. You have to tap the screen to make the cat turn at certain points in time with the music. It's not very good, but it's easy to cheat. The cat is identical to the one pictured but the stage looks different and there's no food.

dude the main au i also always think about is a non-milgram domestic one too... power of domesticity to combat the horrors of reality i suppose

i do have a few others tho i don't think about them as often, which is mainly some random mermaid au, a dungeon meshi one, and a csm one n a kny one but i don't think about either as often (just know that kazui is cat themed in both). i also recently randomly thought of some weird ass alien one but that's just cuz i kept listening to aitai-liens and i wanted shidou to be an even bigger freak. i do kinda wanna expand on it cuz it includes 0610 too....

anyways i will now try to pull as many hcs as i can out of my mind (but they will probably mostly be in a domestic normal au setting)

kazui's love language is physical touch, but he isn't very big on pda. even just holding hands makes him all nervous cuz internalized shit and he thinks it's embarrassing ("haha why is this old guy holding hands with another guy. that's gay.")

when they are in private tho i'd like to think he'd be clinging onto shidou whenever he possibly can and he'd be by his side. simple things like hugs or leaning on his shoulder. giving him lil kisses or ruffling his hair

n then shidou's love language is acts of service n quality time. he always insists on doing chores or menial tasks even when he is very obviously exhausted. and then when he has the time he takes kazui on outings like walking through a park, eating out, going shopping, etc. and holds kazui's hand throughout (i want 0507 aquarium date to be real SO BAD)

they thrive most in domestic silence tho. like taking showers or watching a movie together or just sleeping. they barely say anything and just appreciate the other's company. the whimsy of simplicity and mundane life sigh

even inside of milgram i feel like they'd just appreciate the other's company a lot yet never actually say anything... like they just gravitate towards each other and don't mind being close with only the nagging feeling of "uh oh what if i like this guy... nah..." then they make out

also the smoking one... augh.... smth smth now smoking for the other instead of for themselves... do you think they would shotgun..

i also think cuz of work shidou is rather disorganized at home (he said it himself... mr. "i'm quite careless in private"). stuff like leaving stuff lying around or forgetting to do the dishes n yadayada so kazui helps him with that stuff despite how stubborn shidou is

n i love freak shidou too... kazui being less insecure cuz shidou is freaky... he'd comfort him n compliment him n pick up his hand and give it kisses. also shidou moles i think he has a ton and kazui likes them eheheuhe

hrmm other silly ones are probably shidou leaving little notes if he leaves for work before kazui wakes up, or texting each other using stupid gifs or stickers, or the whiplash kazui gets from shidou calling him his partner, or how shidou would probably play neko atsume or smth and get kazui into it. how shidou likes going to arcades and winning stupid little plushies and he blows all his money to get them little matching plush keychains...

also they meet through mikoto somehow. he invites them to a dinner party or smth idk i need to flesh it out more 🥹

but yeah i'm pretty normal about 0507...

while the 0507 brain worms are still active i am curious if you have any headcanons for them... or maybe even aus perhaps. if you do i will be nodding my head so attentively (i have some of my own as well hehe)

Appearances can be deceiving.

For instance...Hinata had a teacher back in middle school who, for all intents and purposes, seemed a nice enough man. An active part of the community, well-liked by his students, and a staple part of the school in which he taught. He was lenient with those who needed it, and tough on those who he knew could do better.

But during her last year, when she was no longer in his class, a rather startling discovery was made.

On the run from another province, he was accused of murdering several middle school girls at his previous school. But with the help of underground cosmetic mods, he had his face changed enough to escape notice, starting a new life on the other side of the country where he could once again begin stalking students.

Thankfully he never had the chance - he was caught when a substitute for another teacher managed to recognize him despite the mods. He was arrested, and later imprisoned for his crimes.

From then on, Hinata knew better than to trust what face people put forward. What you see isn’t always true.

Which is what makes her newest...friend? so intriguing.

Since stumbling upon the half-dead man in an alleyway, Hinata has been unable to escape one Uchiha Sasuke: a member of the infamous yakuza currently overseen by his father. Having been beaten and stripped of his (rather expensive) mods, it was Hinata who, on an insomnia walk, hefted him from the refuse and took him to a doctor she knew.

And that was only the beginning of a bond that saw her kidnapped, nearly involved in a gunfight, and then marked as a target by the Uchiha group’s biggest rivals: the Senju.

Since then, it’s been Sasuke’s self-imposed mission to keep the woman safe as repayment for her kindness, and also for his failing to protect her when he first attempted to fulfill his debt to her.

Which means that outside work and her time spent at home...Hinata has been stuck with a rather interesting bodyguard.

Sasuke doesn’t hide what he is. Be it his mods, his tattoos, his smoking or his sometimes coarse language, he doesn’t shy from his title of gangster. He knows that what his family does is unlawful. Dangerous and harmful, even. But he does have at least one code of conduct: repay his debts.

Having someone like him in the presence of someone like Hinata makes a very strange pair indeed.

You see, Hinata’s father runs the largest Japan-based medical mod company. She was once heiress...before daring to call out his hypocrisy. She now lives in a tiny apartment in a rather...questionable part of town. Which is how she found Sasuke. And she works for a mod insurance claim company. Which, admittedly, she hates. But she does do her part of under-the-table dealing to help those who truly need it find underground care.

Hence her knowing the good doctor.

But it goes without saying that the pair of them going, well...anywhere together tends to draw some very confused gazes. After all, most wonder what on earth such a sweet looking young woman could ever be doing running around with someone like him.

Sure, Hinata hasn’t ever hurt anyone - in fact she herself has been the victim of violence more than once. But she does technically break the law rather often, given her redirection of insurance claims to illegal operations that go beneath the government radar. Sure, she does so for morally-just reasons...but it’s still illegal.

She wonders what people would think if they knew: that such a sweet, trustworthy, likeable face has been lying to her employer and her government for years now, costing them mountains of money with every customer or patient she reroutes into the less-than-legal channels.

Sure, it’s nothing compared to Sasuke’s repsheet, but...still, worse than most would assume just looking at her.

And the same, she feels, goes for Sasuke.

During their time together, she’s observed him as carefully as she can, not wanting to be caught snooping. It’s something she’s always been rather good at. Her eyes are pale enough that most people don’t notice them slid to their corners to watch them. Sasuke, so often, just seems so...normal. He drinks coffee with heavy cream (but no sugar - he doesn’t like bitter, but nor can he stand sweet). He’s taken to feeding the stray cats around her apartment building. She saw him completely interrupt traffic to help an elderly neighbor of hers cross to the proper street from her window on his way to see her once.

Sure, he might do bad things...but he isn’t a bad person.

After all, he’s doing what he’s doing for her out of a sense of honor. He could just flip her the bird and leave her to defend herself from the Senju, helpless. Maybe it’s wholly for himself, for upholding his code of ethics...but it doesn’t feel that shallow.

He doesn’t just stand around looking tough. He talks to her, argues with her, and even jokes with her...though his humor is bone dry. There’s been many a moment when she’s forgotten why he’s around. They bicker and banter like...friends.

...she’s almost forgotten what it’s like to have friends. High school was rather lonely, and her shuffle right into a dead-end job and a micro apartment didn’t really lend itself to making them. Sure, she and the doctor get on fairly well, but...they’ve only ever seen one another for business. Technically that’s the reason Sasuke’s around, but...it just feels...different.

...so maybe she’s not as annoyed by his playing knight as she was when it all first started.

“Now what are you doing?”

“Hm?”

Chin in a hand, Sasuke juts it slightly toward her. “You’ve been staring at your HUD for like fifteen minutes. I can’t see it, but I can tell.”

At his accusation, Hinata goes a light pink. “...uh…”

“Watching porn in public?”

“W-w-what?! No!” Her voice jumps several octaves, drawing the glances of other patrons. They’re currently seated in an outdoor section at the front of a cafe having coffee. Sasuke insisted he needed to refuel, and she never minds a cup herself.

He gives a cheeky, lazy grin, posture still lax. “Then what are you doing?”

“I’m...playing a game.”

“Oh? A game that involves staring at your HUD?”

“It’s...not the most interactive, sure. It’s more of a daily click sort of...t-thing.”

“Ah, gotcha. So you’re not really a gamer girl.”

At that, her lips purse in a pout. “Hey, I play games at home. This is just more...maintenance.”

“Sounds exciting.”

“It’s...cute. You collect cats.”

Immediately, something lightens in his expression, and his posture becomes a bit more attentive. “...oh yeah?”

She doesn’t miss all that, but suppresses a smile, not wanting to drive him off the subject. “Mhm. It’s an older game, Neko Atsume. People used to play it on their phones.”

Sasuke hums in acknowledgement...and something tells her he’s already on his HUD looking it up. She knows already how fond he is of cats. See the above mentioned strays he’s pseudo-adopted. “Sounds...boring, but cats are all right, I guess.”

“Like I said, it’s mostly a daily click sort of thing. You check to see what cats are around, w-what they’ve left you, if they took treats…”

His eyes flicker, and though she can’t see his HUD herself, she already knows what he’s looking at. “...huh.”

“Want to play?”

“I might. If I get bored enough.”

She just gently rolls her eyes.

...a week later, he approaches her with a scowl, and she actually braces herself for some kind of argument.

“What have you done?”

“I...w-what?”

“That stupid...cat game!”

She blinks.

“The whole damn syndicate is playing it now! I can’t stop checking it! We almost missed a raid because the wrong people got distracted!”

Before Hinata can stop it, a snort escapes her, both hands coming to cover her nose and mouth. Eyes go wide. “I...I’m sorry…?”

“I can’t believe this…”

“Sasuke-san, I...I didn’t mean to -?”

“I know,” he snaps, cutting her off...which she’s gotten used to. “...don’t introduce me to any more games. Got it?”

“O...okay.”

“Wasting all my goddamn time,” he mutters, lighting a cigarette and taking a frustrated drag. He gives her a halfhearted glare when she can no longer suppress her giggles. “If the Uchiha Yakuza falls it’s all gonna be your fault, I hope you know that. You and your damn cats.”

“I’m sorryyy!”

“No you’re not!”

“Yes I am!”

“Then why’re you laughing?”

She can’t reply, too caught up in her amusement.

To anyone looking on, they’d see a scowling, tattooed, heavily-modded man they’d immediately peg as a bad guy.

But Hinata knows better.

     More of the cyberpunk AU! Not really anything plot-drive this time: more introspection about appearance, which DOES play a fairly big role in both their characters, and their world at large. With the ability to modify your looks, you can really put any face forward - literally. While neither of them have any real appearance mods (though Sasuke does have his eye mods), they still have traits that don't match their exterior!      ...I'd...say more but it's very late. Jade vs. Gold Fish

I know that the title is weird, but bare with me.

This screen shot is from the once infamous app game “Neko Atsume”. For those who were not playing this at it’s pique, Neko Atsume is the absolute epitome of “casual gaming”. In fact, you can’t play unless you CLOSE THE APP. It’s very relaxed. You decorate your yard with stuff that might attract a cat, leave out food and leave. After some time cats come to chill and play in your yard! But what does this have to do with Royal Chaos?

Normal items are bought with normal “fish” and attract normal cats. Fancy items have a chance to attract special cats, and cost “gold fish”! Sound familiar? It should!

Now, here’s where Neko Atsume is a bit different. Royal Chaos has three types of currency: Gold, Ingots, and Jade. Gold is earned passively, by simply having the game run you can earn gold. Of course you can earn gold by winning battles, but you don’t have to. Ingots on the other hand are earned actively. Winning a certain number of battles, being active for certain amounts of time, winning contests, and so in. And then there is Jade that you can only get by spending IRL money.

Now, you can use Jade to buy Ingots, but a LOT of items, especially outfits and even some characters, require Jade. And this is really shitty if you’re broke. And here’s where things are difficult.

NO ITEMS WORTH SPITTING AT ARE LESS THAN 50 JADE. And 60 Jade is $10. Most REALLY GOOD items are between 200-500 Jade. Why would I spend $100 on an app?? I’m reluctant to spend $45 on a video game for the Nintendo Switch, let alone an app game. Unfortunately, JADE IS THE PRIMARY CURRENCY FOR ROYAL CHAOS. Gold is hardly ever used, and Ingots are used as much as change is used in the states. This is where Neko Atsume comes in.

Like I mentioned, Neko Atsume has two forms of currency; fish and gold fish. Both are earned passively because this game is passive. You obviously don’t earn gold fish as quickly, but you can get gold fish three different ways; earn, buy and exchange. That’s right, you can exchange fish for gold fish and vice versa.

Now, when you look at the comparison between how many gold fish you get per dollar, it’s a little less than ingots per dollar. But the fact that gold fish are interchangeable with the main form of currency makes up for it. Not only is gold fish NOT the main form of currency, you’re not left out for not buying it!

While Royal Chaos has an actual plot and multiple aspects of game play, the fact that so much of the game relies on in game purchases dissuades people from continuing to play. For me personally, I’m a bit too stubborn to leave a game that I invested so much money into (roughly $250 over time) plus I want to keep up with the plot. It’s enough of an issue that plenty of people have left the game. Some people are even selling their accounts. Though there are multiple issues that resulted in this, money is a big factor. It’s something that needs to be looked at.

Maybe after that they’ll look at the moderators’ behavior toward cyber bullying.

No troubled childhood or dark secrets in the background of this boy. He was born at home, exactly at midnight. Next morning, Paladin (Sybil's familiar) brought home his daughter Hermeowne to raise and train her as Tobias' familiar. Did the wise old cat foresee trouble in our boy's future?

Hermeowne is the daughter of Paladin and Principezza, born the same night as Tobias. She is a skilled hunter and fisher, frequently catching exactly the right ingredients for the elixirs Tobias is making. She is very independent, often going off on her own while Tobias is in class or doing chores. She keeps in touch with most of the animals in the neighbourhood, especially the wild horses. She likes fresh-killed prey, which she eats more often than the gourmet food she gets at home.

Between them his parents made sure that Tobias not only learned his witchcraft, but is also able to grow, catch and collect all the ingredients he needs for his elixirs (and to keep himself fed). His father also taught him martial arts, so he has the discipline neccessary for managing magical abilities. And of course being able to kick someone's ass in a pinch is always useful.

He had the advantage of going to a non-rabbithole witchcraft school, where the students actually build their skills during school hours. Helping his mother in her garden and frequently going on fishing trips with his father made sure he didn't spend all his time studying but also got plenty of fresh air. Because riding a broom can be rather conspicuous with normal humans around (and brooms can't go off-road), most of those trips were made on horse-back.

When Tobias was 16 the family went on a holiday to China for his parents' birthday. Tobias stuck his nose in some dungeons, and fought a few martial arts tournament matches. By the time they went back home he knew for certain that once he graduated from high school he was going to travel around the world. However, he was happy to postpone these plans when his good graduation results earned him an offer to attend Boris Crimson's famous collegium. Fortunately he got permission to take Hermeowne with him. He will miss his horse Shelley, but his mum has recently taken up horse riding and will take good care of her. Shortly after he arrived, strange things started happening...

Ultimate Lucky Student, Kaede Akamatsu

Sorry for the long wait!!! I actually finished this a while ago (even before I participated in TPG Week), but was hesitating a bit trying to get Prince Hinata posted first. I wanted to do a few touch ups, but unfortunately the app I was using ended up updating the day after I finished Prince Hinata ^^; That means that the brush settings are now completely different than what I was using before, so it’s only a matter of figuring out how to recreate it to the original again (or redraw all the plushies from scratch… the thought horrifies me).

Anyways, Kaede, or really the Ultimate Luckster talent, was a bit of a challenge! But challeneges, once I get an idea, are actually really fun! I went and looked at the other two official Lucksters, Makoto and Nagito, and came up with three things in their design that they have in common: zippers, hoodies, and an overall color scheme of red, green, and black. Makoto’s was primarily black, Nagito’s priarily green, so I decided Kaede’s has to be primarily red, or at least the red should pop out. I gave her shorter sleeves because it just felt better that way. By the way, it saddens me there aren’t any plushies of the V3 kids yet :( I’m holding on to hope that they’ll come out next year!

There’s only one more request to do (Gamer Junko), and then I can finally make a new plushie thing!

Kaede Akamatsu never thought of herself as anything special. She knew how to play the piano, and enjoyed it as well as any other, but didn’t have much passion for it, at least not enough to devote all her attention to it. She was voted 4th grade vice president, and then a representative both years of middle school. Though she had some talent as a leader, it wasn’t to the level of an Ultimate… not that Kaede was necessarily aiming to be an Ultimate, but with Hope’s Peak Academy being so influential, it was tough not to think about how special, or mediocre, you were in comparison to the successful Ultimates.

However, even if Kaede never saw how special she was, it was clear that there was something about her. When Kaede was a young girl, only just turned 6 years old, her parents weren’t doing great financially. Her father worked all day and her mother worked all night, and though her parents both loved Kaede, the financial strain sometimes got to be too much.

Living in the more impoverished side of town, the Casino was available, running 24 hours a day, 7 days week. It was only a matter of time before Kaede’s father was tempted to try his luck.

One Friday evening, not long after Kaede’s mother went off to work, Kaede’s father The casino was shady enough that they didn’t even care that he brought his daughter with him as long as she was kept far from the machines. A very sleepy Kaede sat on a bench, watching his father put coins into a slot, sometimes winning, sometimes losing. No one was really watching her, so her curiosity got the better of her. She took a coin that was under the bench she was playing, climbed up to a random slot machine, inserted a coin like she’d been watching her father do, and pulled.

Kaede’s father noticed too late, grabbing her away from the machine. He scolded her until a sound from the machine interrupted him. Kaede won the jackpot (not that anyone besides the two of them knew).

Ever since then, fortune began to favor the Akamatsu family. With the money Kaede won, they were able to start anew, saving the majority of it for her future. Kaede’s dad was able to get a job that had a lot of benefits and allowed Kaede’s mother to get a job and pay for daycare.

As for Kaede herself, she lived fairly normally. There were only a few instances where things weren’t so normal. For example, she was eventually banned from participating in the lottery machine booth at an annual local festival when he got the best prize offered the fifth year in a row (and actually, it wasn’t even that she wanted to participate. Her friends, amazed by her talent, placed bets and entered her in the last three years).

It wasn’t the first time that she won lottery or raffles without her knowledge, and most of the time, it wasn’t actually because someone consciously put her in a raffle. One time, an amusement park she was visiting was doing a raffle involving all the visitors of the park, using the ticket number to draw their winners. Kaede, of course, was in the group of people able to win some pricey souvenirs from the shop. There were other times where she hadn’t even entered her name, and she none of her friends claimed responsibility for entering her into a raffle, and she ended up winning prizes.

Also, she recently got into mobile games. She had downloaded Neko Atsume just because she liked the cute cats and all her friends were playing it. She was extremely lucky and was able to get the rarest cats and drops, and she hadn’t even known how difficult the game could be and just assumed the whole game was like that. Her friends were incredibly jealous.

The same went for games where she would have to draw cards/characters in order to play. She’d always get extremely lucky during events and get the featured characters/weapons. That said, it was still not enough to win the game, so she liked those best because it at least offered her a challenge.

There were a few games whose game developers suspected her of cheating, so her account was terminated. She was always kind of sad about it since she got attached to her characters. Still, she wasn’t completely unaware that she was lucky. People had even nicknamed her Lady Fortune’s favorite child, although her luck only seemed to apply to trivial things and entertainment.

She was still a rather average student, though she worked hard to become a better role model when she became the class representative. Outside of situations where raffles were held, or games that were based on luck, Kaede lived a very average life, and actually loved it. She still felt as if there may have been something missing, or something more that she can do, and if her winning was the only thing special about her, then how could she possibly use her talent to help others? And it wasn’t like as if the things she won were all that helpful in the first place.

Despite her dillema, as with every other student Japan, her name was in the annual raffle looking for an Ultimate Lucky student. Upon receiving her letter, a part of her was hoping she would be named something like Ultimate Class Representative, or even Ultimate Pianist, even if she didn’t have much of a passion for it, but of course, Hope’s Peak had invited her to their school to become Class 79′s Ultimate Lucky Student.

She really didn’t see her luck as much of a talent, nor did she want to be associated as the lucky student. She was even briefly considering turning Hope’s Peak Academy’s offer down, but quickly recognized that maybe this was the opportunity she needed to finally see how her nor-recognized talent can be used to help other. And so, with confidence that she always kept in her heart, Kaede had enrolled into Hope’s Peak Academy

@sasquatch-penetration - I totally forget how or why my and Kieran became mutuals but they post a lot of funny stuff and if I’m in a bad mood and just looking for laughs I tend to go to their blog and just scroll on it endlessly. 

@aceserena - Me and Serena played LoL together awhile ago! Lots of gaming, jokes, and some cute stuff too! High quality. 10/10 would duo again. Overall super chill and they’re one of the few mutuals I’ve interacted with.

@artoria-official - Lots of anime, lots of gaming, lots of...are you picking up on the theme of who I follow and who follows me? I’ve only interacted with them once but they were super friendly and helpful! They didn’t make me feel awkward about reaching out despite the lack of any small talk or lead into the conversation so they’re obviously a good person!

@alanshitpostsandgames - Lots and lots of Pokemon! Pokemon being one of my main hobbies pretty much anyone with quality Pokemon posts is worth a follow in my book. They post a lot of silly stuff too. I only recently started to follow them but they’ve put up with me for awhile so clearly they have good taste.

@iamhedwig915 - Another of my IRL friends. They post a lot of comedy stuff and in general are just super nice. I lived with them for over a year and I can’t honestly say anything negative about them. They were just such a sweet person and one of the best roommates. 

@so-hufflepunk - This is my girlfriend. Going off of messenger and nothing else, she’s tied for 1st for my most interacted with. She posts a lot of cute funny things and I just love her a lot and most of my sense of humor comes from her. If you want my blog to have cute stuff instead of anime, she’s your girl! She’s actually my girl but she’s your blog! Actually it’s her blog but you should follow her!

@theblackwitchworld - Lots of Madoka and Love Live. Madoka was one of the first animes that I got to sit down and watch with friends. It’s one of the biggest ties I have to one of my best friends. Meanwhile, Love Live is my favorite anime and probably the only anime they I have ever been actively invested in. So when I found a blog with both, it only made sense to follow them! 0 clue why they follow me tho

@suprememeep - We met during a Splatfest in Splatoon! Our group did super well with like 20+ wins. We found each other on Tumblr after that and have followed each other sense! If you were active in the Neko Atsume fandom, they created Glunkus and Hobo! They’re super friendly and I love interacting with them, even if it’s less than I’d like. 

@daeronsingollo - I forget how or why we started following each other, but they reply to a lot of my posts and whenever I interact with them it’s super enjoyable! They post a lot of Pokemon, art, and cute things! I love their blog a lot and it’s one of the more aesthetically pleasing blogs I follow.

@theamazingpants - Another IRL person. Me and Pants have been friends since 2010 or 2011. He’s probably one of my closest friends and I really care about him. He posts a lot of anime and gaming, surprise. He’s one of those people that you could never see yourself befriending nowadays, but because of the history, it just keeps working. <3

@flailmorpho - Me and Flail met on the Anivia tag! We both mained Anivia for a long time, it being our main common interest. Lots of comedy, gaming, and commentary. Super nice overall and I highly recommend them if you’re looking for someone chill to follow. 

@luccario8 - I think me and Luccario also met over on the Anivia tag. They post a lot of gaming stuff as well as comedy. Interactions with them are always super pleasant and I can’t do anything but praise them. Check them out!

@dustyshark - Another comedy blog I follow! They post a lot of happy stuff and only top quality jokes. I super love their blog and steal a lot of the jokes they reblog. They have amazing content and if you want more humor in your life I recommend heading over there.

@hornlessquipster - IRL friend and my gf’s roommate for 2 years now. They are LITERALLY the nicest person I know. They have offered me a place to stay when times were tough, they are always sticking their neck out for others, they are involved in so much stuff I literally do not know how they continue to function. They are super great and I love them. 

@nitrogennightmare - I follow a lot more IRL people than I thought. This is one of my best friends. They post a lot of comedy, music, and aesthetic stuff.  We vent to each other a lot, but because we both stink at staying in touch with people, mainly me, we’ve lost touch recently. They are super laid back and I love them 

@captaincrunchmakesmebleed - Anime and Comedy. This is one of the blogs I’ve followed and loved for a long time. I made them fanart once! They just came back from being dead for awhile. I really looked up to their blog for a long time and reblog a lot of stuff from them. Easily one of my favorite blogs on this hellsite. 

@spooksbot - I LOVE SPOOKS! While we don’t interact a lot I love following them, all of our interests are pretty much the same, and they are in general a super nice person. Their blog is a lot of fun and the interact with people a lot via open reply posts. They are a super cool person. We played Overwatch once together but the time difference is killer :/ HIGH RECOMMEND 

@killer-x-queen - A super funny blog! We interacted a lot back in the day and they were always so kind and nice. They had a post that was like “send me your best pickup lines” and I just kept sending them the shittiest puns I could think of. I was having a lot of fun with them. They are a great person <3

@zioketski - Lots of humor and Pokemon! At this point none of you should be surprised as to why I follow people. This is one of the mutuals I have where we don’t interact but like and reblog each others things! Their blog is quality. 

@cecilia-hatake - We’re getting far down my list now, into the realm of people I’ve been following for like...4+ years now. They post a lot of anime and I know I’ve interacted with them in the past. They have a lot of quality posts but their blog has been dead for a year :(

@bottaw - An IRL friend again! Will is one of the closest friends I made at college and is one of the most, if not the most, caring individual I know. He has a lot of video games and gem things on his blog. Will may not be one my longest friends...but he is one of the oldest ;P

@zanaea - Alright this motherfucker right here. Where the fuck do I start. We have been friends since 2009. Easily in my top 5 friends, probably 1st tbh. Joe and I have been through some shit and have been there for each other every single time. They have a lot of Pokemon, Video Game, Anime, Comedy, aesthetic, they have it all. I love this kid. I would give my money, the shirt off my back, my first born, and my life to keep them safe. They may not be perfect, but I’ll be damned if someone tries to say they don’t give it their all. 

@thepunkin-king - Matt is one of my oldest friends, like, over 15 years now. We met in elementary school, I wanna say 1st grade so 2001. While I’m about halfway through my medicine (and hopefully feeling 100% once more), my focus is… very shake-y, at the moment, to say the least. As someone who normally multitasks a loot, it’s so… frustrating to essentially just be stuck staring at one thing and struggling to even accomplish that.

I don’t really like leaving things unfinished and right now, my unfinished pile feels kind of unbearable and there’s not much I can do about it. To make matters worse, because of the previous mentioned problem of not being able to focus, my mind is constantly thinking up ideas (whether drawings, stories, or something else entirely) that I just… do not have the time or talent to put into fruition and it’s pretty disheartening, honestly.

Meanwhile, I’ve been trying to write this entry since earlier this week and wanted to get it up before Pocket Camp came out because I was going to say how likely it’d be to come out the 21st/22nd because the Fortune Event ended then and it was also when the dailies ended for the current round instead of it being the usual 10–of course, I was right with that, but I never actually managed to… get that post done. On the bright side, I did manage to get all the wallpapers in the Fortune event:

As you can see, I apparently got Bitty: I don’t really think it’s that fitting, but I don’t really like to keep retaking these quizzes. I just wish they’d stop with the “shortened” quizzes–most people would prefer to answer all the questions to get a more accurate result and so it’s frustrating when it’s essentially powered by RNG to an extent because I don’t feel it’s entirely accurate.

As for the progress in the game, it’s mostly been slow… Ignoring server issues since the huge increase of people with the game releasing, as I’ve mentioned before, there’s just not much I can do right now. I did manage to get the level 5 Merry-go-Round completed: And currently have the level 5 Pool being built so I just have the Treehouse and Concert left to level up. I also have crafted everything I currently have unlocked at least once so the only things I have left are from getting villagers to level 15. I still have 21 villagers to go and I keep debating on if I should use my Request tickets to try and rush these or save them to rush being able to host when new villagers get added instead. Marshal is likely coming in the new batch of villagers due to being one of the options in the Fortune Event and it’s possible some of my own favorites could make their way in that batch too which would be nice as currently my only favorite villager in the game is Peanut.

As for the game itself, the trees and grass also changed shortly before the game opened for everyone and it’s quite nice: I’m looking forward to us getting snow. I am surprised we didn’t end up having a Harvest Festival ingame, but maybe they felt it was too soon after opening…

My struggles are still heavily with the resource mechanics though–especially with being sick, it makes it hard to keep my stock up since it’s hard to really play much and when I do have those short bursts where I feel up to more, I once again get hit by that item limit wall. Most of the limits and things, I can understand. The timers, the rotations, the crafting things… But the item limit is just such an issue. Especially because you get SO little from selling items, it doesn’t feel worth the effort to get them just to sell them so when your inventory is full, it’s like “Well, now what do I do?”. Prices are what you’d expect for clothing and furniture and to craft, but the prices for selling things from your inventory is just too small to cover that. 10 Bells for “common” stuff is just so disheartening. And it also gives me less of a reason to play when my requests are done honestly and removes a lot of the relaxing part of AC and playing how you like.

While my inventory management continues to be a nightmare, I’m doing pretty well catalog-wise. I currently have all market furniture available, everything from Labelle, and only need one thing from Kicks. I have about 13 things left from the Able Sisters, including one of the dresses (The Plum Coat) that I actually really want But the RNG with it all makes it… frustrating.

In the meantime, when I’ve needed a bit of a break from Pocket Camp due to just running out of things to do or just not having the energy for it, I’ve been having a lot of fun with Tiny Bird Garden which came out on November 15th. If you enjoy Neko Atsume and/or really like birds, you’ll probably enjoy Tiny Bird Garden. It is of the same nature as Neko Atsume (lay out toys and food for birds to come), but a bit more… immersive in a way with NPCs you can talk to and actually getting to talk to and befriend the birds in a way. You can give them treats and hats and it’s just a… very sweet game?

I’ve managed to see all the birds at least once and give them all their favorite Treats so I just need to figure out all their favorite toys now. They all seem… a lot less picky than the cats in Neko Atsume though which both makes it a bit easier to see them all but also a bit harder if you’re specifically going for one.

Regardless, if you like cute birds and/or just need some kind of casual pick-me up, I really do recommend it–even if just for some positive reminders that you matter.

Right now, Super Mario Odyssey is a bit on hold which makes me… quite sad to be honest. I really love the game, but at the same time I just feel frustrated with it. I think a lot of the Moons are pretty fun, but at the same time it feels like way too much. It just feels packed just to be packed and I just don’t find that very fun. It makes them feel less special. That said, my least favorite ones have to be the high score ones I don’t mind doing the activities a certain amount of times, but there’s… not much fun in spending hours trying over and over to hit a score in the same monotonous activity. And you have to do this in two different ones.

The time trial ones are also fairly frustrating. I’ve long stopped enjoying the races and really just wish the only one was in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I’m sure we’ll get back to the game eventually and I really do want to hit the 999 Moons + get all the costumes, but right now I just feel discouraged and frustrated.

Finally, what I’ve been doing especially these last few months is getting myself a bit lost in visual novels. I love reading, but unfortunately our… living situation isn’t the best to really be situated *to* read books for long periods of time and still be comfortable. Let alone even… keep track of books 😦

I started playing My Candy Love aka Amour Sucré in March of last year and it’s been a… rollercoaster of feelings. I talk a lot about the game over on a Tumblr I have dedicated to it and other Beemoov games, but I wanted to bring it up here too for once because there’s a lot I really want to say about it.

I’m incredibly picky with Otome games. I don’t usually have the same tastes in guys as most people so it’s hard for me to find one appealing. Plus, when many games have you dating girls instead and you’re not particularly interested in girls, you’re usually playing more for story reasons then (Which is why I won’t play any… mature rated ones).

I think Otome games can be quite interesting though if they have a good focus on story and characters and that’s generally what I look for, though, I can be picky with art style. And while the art style in MCL can vary (especially with some of the older episodes’ illustrations), something about it still drew me in and I’m not entirely sure what. My one regret is mostly finding about it so late–the game started in 2011 and so I’ve… missed a lot Both onsite event-wise and merchandise-wise.

One thing that’s been especially frustrating to me is there was a short episode available for those who got a code from their booth at Japan Expo in 2013 that was only available for France and there is only video of one of the routes and I can’t find any transcripts of the other routes and this haunts me so much and is killing me slowly because of all kinds of problems. It’s rare, but hey, if you had unlocked the Japan Expo 2013 ring and now no longer can replay the episode, please report it so maybe someone can… finally upload the other routes and dialogue ._.

Moving to the game itself and despite some of my issues above and sadness of missing out, I wish I knew what captured me about the game. I found myself interested in all the characters and definitely found a favorite of the cast. The game takes place in a high school, towards the end of the school year (though, don’t actually try and figure out the timeline–it’s a complete and utter mess).

I think in a way, especially since my school life was absolute trash, it almost feels therapeutic for me. Even though the focus is the 5 main guys, you get two best friends and have a handful of other classmates as well. And even if on episode where you get completely screwed over, people are still there for you and sometimes a lot of it is just what I needed to hear and didn’t realize.

The game currently is at 37 episodes (with 38 coming out any day now honestly– a lot o people are expecting the trailer tomorrow) and you don’t even start dating the guy you want to go for until the end of Episode 28/start of Episode 29 so there’s a long build up (though, you may find the first 10 episodes kind of slow). There’s character arcs as well, some stronger than others, but honestly, I just have fun with it even if I genuinely think they could use a better translator, the censoring is awkward, and some lines are… a bit cringe-y, but it’s just… truly fun.

They have a Black Friday sale going on so I’m debating on buying a bunch of AP and $ and maybe doing a huge story replay to fix some decisions and things I’m not super happy with and also take opportunities to explore the school more so I’ll be less likely to miss dialogue and stuff too.

I would likely stream the big replay too so if someone is interested in the game, but doesn’t want to play, well, that could be an option!

I will say the game is a bit hard to get into–besides some of the older art style in illustrations, the game unfortunately uses an Action Point system. Once you’re caught up, you’ll usually manage to earn enough to play the next episode by the time it comes out, but until then, it’s a very slow grind trying to play each day and can be super demotivating honestly

Once thing I do wish Beemoov would do (besides an alternative to the AP system) is just… better jobs with merchandising to their other servers. There’s such a big focus on France as it’s the main server and where the company is located, but it really makes other servers feel left out. The manga, as an example, has only been published in French, Spanish, and German. It’s been years with no update on if we will ever see it outside those languages. The Artbooks have only been in French and English. And most merchandise hasn’t been outside France at all. It’s pretty discouraging (and also makes it all the harder to FIND older merchandise…).

Despite all this, the game’s taking place in France actually helped rejuvenate my love for France’s culture too. France was the first country I ever wanted to go to and the first language I wanted to learn when I was just 2-3 years old. It meant a lot to me and after some issues when I finally got to go to Paris, France, a piece of my heart got… incredibly hurt due to certain things that happened and it’s… really nice to have it mended and just between this and Miraculous Ladybug feel that love for France again (Also my French has gotten a lot better with all the things I’ve been looking up for character reasons so that’s pretty awesome).

Beemoov’s other visual novel is Eldarya which is much more fantasy-styled and more mature in general. It has the same kind of thing with a lot more characters besides just the love interest and the other servers are *nearly* caught up with France’s. It’s fun despite some… problematic decisions in plot, but I’m genuinely really excited to see where the story goes.

While I play MCL more for the characters as the story is mostly just… school with some character arcs, Eldarya’s overall story has me incredibly invested with where it’s going to go.

Of course, I don’t only play Otome game-Visual novels. One of Beemoov’s other visual novels is Henri’s Secret which is just a general romance story–you don’t have a character and you follow Lyla’s PoV for the most part (though, the game takes place mostly from a third person view). Even though the secret was super obvious from the get-go (and you learn it pretty quick in the story too–though Lyla and her friends have yet to…), I find myself still interested in the characters and story and really want to see their reactions when they learn Henri’s secret.

As for a non-Beemoov game, I’m actually super into SakeVisual’s Jisei series. I love mysteries and all the characters are super well-written. The fourth part is currently in production and I genuinely can’t wait. It’s such a good series, the art and voice acting is phenomenal and I haven’t played a game from SakeVisual that I haven’t enjoyed, honestly. I still have to finish Backstage Pass, but… stats and schedule stuff in games is hard for me x__x

But yes, this is what I’ve been up to recently! I’m still doing training in Miitopia, but it’s… very slow so that may be a while. I also do hope to get back to Lady Layton as SOON as I’m feeling better. I miss it, but I’m just… in no condition to do puzzles right now.

it’s way too hot to think. im literally melting. im drinking the water faster than it has a chance to cool down it’s kind of insane how hot the summers get even with the thick knot of greenery outside of my window

especially because looking out at the other cluster of yards its just our weird intersection that has lots of trees and it is an insane mix of biodiversity out there, i wonder why? our next door neighbour does in fact exist, i saw him washing the dishes the other day, but his yard is so overrun you can’t actually hang out in the yard, its been overtaken by the wilderness and makes up most of the large green knoll

toby as a little kid is kind of adorable? especially his interactions with archie, its kind of fun playing odd but quirkycute kids and his pet butterfly named zipper. its also been neat being given the chance to develop his NPC parents from the apocalypse verse

i have bites on my TOES too this is borderline ridiculous. and in my EAR

ate some chicken salad Caesar wraps and almost cried about how good they are. vomited shortly afterwards, but just an insipid little spit of a mouthful of puke, i think it was because i saw a single piece was a bit well. pink looking, still ate it anyways, still delicious. also because for once i was eating at a somewhat normal time with an actual FOOD ITEM

showered and it was a pain in the ass avoiding the tenderness of the foot that’s been mangled, its a persistent sharp stinging pain from the flayed off skin and its more of a shallow, large wound, not excessive blood but a lot of sharp, persistent pain, especially when trying to move around because of where it is on my ankle mostly 

i hate the bedroom door. it gets swollen stuck inside of its frame and its impossible to open from the inside, you need someone pushing from the outside and the inside to get it to pop open

had a weird moment of self appreciation today. it was nice. took a selfie underneath the light of the window and it lit my hair up white, and for once i didnt really want to slap a filter on it and call it a day

watching the tenderness of that man leaning in to bump against the others shoulder casually, or lean his head against him was kind of cute. painfully cute

i need to watch more of the notebook, i hazily recall a fragment of it upstairs

might add more to this, unsure. mostly been lying in a painful, limp puddle on the black pull out futon couch thing ive been living on. almost suffocated when the sheets collapsed and tangled me up in all of their silkiness, but i had a great period of reading unresolved mysteries in bed upstairs even if it was sweltering hot, being alone is such a delicious, much needed feeling to retain my sanity
