āThis has been y/n and Satoru, thank you so much for watching, bye!ā
The moment they reached the greenroom, y/n's smile drops. God, her cheeks hurt, nobody talks about how hard it is to fake a smile all day, it's like a workout for your face except you gain nothing at the end.
Her co-star walks in behind her, a cocky smile on his face. If she was him she would get tired of herself. How can someone be so egoistic? He loves himself more than his own mother loves him. Every second she's in his presence, she feels herself losing brain cells and getting gray hair, and as much as she loves silver locks on other women, she does not want the cause of it to be Gojo Satoru.
āGreat job today, everyone! Y/n you could've been a little more cheerful toda-ā
āShut the fuck up.ā
She plops down on the sofa and rests her head against the back of it. They still have one more interview left to do, so she's forced to tolerate that dumbass for a couple more hours, and it's a recorded one so she has to pretend she likes him too.
Why did she choose to become an actress again?
Right, childhood dream, worked hard for it, blah blah blah.
āWhoa! Careful there, tiger! Someone might be filming and you don't want to ruin the season before it even starts.ā Gojo smirks, eyes glinting with mischief as he continues to push her buttons.
The people in charge decided to promote the filming of the new season of their show to remind people of it and get them excited, not that anyone was able to forget the last two seasons. According to the statistics, people love a slow burn story, especially when it stretches over multiple seasons. Yes, that does mean y/n has been stuck with Gojo as her co-star for three years now, as known as the longest three years of her life. Everyone around her tells her that time is passing by too fast, but it's been the opposite for her.
She's dreading this season the most. It might be the last, but it means the story will finally reach its long-awaited climax, which means her character and Gojo's will become more than friendly.
She doesn't even want to think about it.
āLeave her alone, Satoru. You still have one interview left.ā his manager scolded him making the bright blue eyed man pout like a four year old not getting the candy he wanted.
The fact Gojo and y/n can't stand each other is something known only between them and their close staff, not even the director and producers know that the "chemistry" between them is something they make up on the spot and doesn't come naturally at all. They're surprised no one has figured out they don't like each other in any way, but y/n takes that as a compliment because it means that she's a really good actress who has perfected her craft and is able to fake getting along with a menace like him.
After touch ups, she goes to where the interview is being held, greeting the staff on her way and telling them she's excited to be working with them. Gojo smirks at her from his seat as she makes her way to sit on hers next to him. She mirrored him to keep up with the "we're best friends behind the scenes" thing they somehow built for themselves.
āWhy are you looking at me like that?ā
āCan't a man admire his friend and co-star?ā he teases, milking the hell out of the act they put on for the camera. Y/n wanted to roll her eyes but instead she forces out a laugh and takes her seat.
She ignores the way her heart flutters at his words. No need to focus on that.
A few months into filming...
āAlright, everyone!ā the director calls out as he claps his hands, āCameras rolling, sound is up, let's do this.ā
Ah yes, the most important scene of the entire franchise. The first kiss scene. This is what the show has been leading up to, this is the moment everyone has been waiting for, this is the thing y/n has been looking forward to the least, in fact, she has not been looking forward to it at all, she wishes it wouldn't happen.
The scene takes place at her character's apartment, a place the set design team has made so cozy looking she wishes she could curl up and take a nap on the couch. Gojo's character is her coworker and he's coming to check on her because she disappeared from the office party after seeing him flirt with someone. That's when she confesses that she's been pinning over him for years and he confesses back before pulling her into a kiss.
āOkay you two,ā the director looks at them, ānot to put you in any pressure, but this is the most important scene of the entire show. All your hard work has led up to this moment. Satoru, you're the one leading the kiss, remember that she's very vulnerable and heartbroken, so you need to be gentle and soft, she's the person you love most so you're gonna handle her with the most care. Alright? Here we go!ā
The apartment door closes between y/n and Gojo as the clapper loader steps in and holds the slate in front of the camera, āepisode 11, scene 45, take 1!ā they call out before snapping the clapper shut and stepping back.
The director pauses, glancing around one more time to make sure everyone is ready.
"And... Action!ā
Y/n steps into character and hesitantly opens the door. Her expression shifts to shock as she sees Gojo standing across from her, hair and clothes disheveled. āWhat are you doing here?ā her voice is a mix between surprise and hurt, just as the script calls for and just as they rehearsed. Gojo's eyes soften, exactly how he was instructed.
Yes, she can't stand him, but that doesn't mean she won't admit that he's really good at his job. He's not one of the most sought out actors for no reason.
āI was worried about you, you left so abruptly.ā he says, letting his eyes dance all over her face only to catch her wet cheeks and red eyes, and no, it isn't makeup and fake tears, she spent half an hour before filming started watching "soldiers reuniting with their dogs" videos to get to that point.
He moves to cup her cheek, but just as scripted, she steps back, her expression flattering. She starts to remind herself of things that make her emotional to start tearing up, āI-I'm fine, you can leave.ā
Gojo stares at her a bit longer than he's supposed to, but she blames it on his love to suddenly improve, and not that he's admiring her or anything, not like she wants him to admire her, that would be crazy on her part.
"You don't have to hide from me," he says with the same soft tone.
She tries to hold back the tears to keep up the strong and always optimistic personality her character is known for, and after a moment she allows a couple to flow down her cheeks. Gojo's face morphs into a concerned expression.
āI don't like seeing you with someone else,ā she mumbles, her voice breaking with every word that slips out of her lips, āit hurts me, right here,ā she taps on her chest with a shaky hand.
Gojo's eyes widen to feign surprise, a perfect mix of confusion and disbelief on his face, playing the oblivious character to perfection, āyou... You like me?ā
āFor the longest time,ā she sniffs, her voice thick with emotion as she starts opening up, āI held back, I tried not to make it obvious, but i can't anymore.ā She drops an octave to deliver the last line, showing as much vulnerability and pain as possible.
Thereās a pause, and everyone on set is on the edge of their seat. They could feel the tension between them, the two playing their roles better than what everyone imagined from reading the script. Gojo goes to take a step closer, stopping half way.
āCan I kiss you?ā he asks, his voice shaking to show that his character is feeling nervous. The director looks intensely between the scene in front of him and the one on the screen, making sure that the intensity they feel in the room is accurate on camera to what's happening in real life.
It's her turn for her to be surprised, playing unsure and hesitant, not expecting those words to come out of his mouth, āw-what?ā, her voice trembles as her eyes search his face like she's trying to find any uncertainties.
ācan I kiss you? Please?ā
Gojo takes the step forward. His voice is soft and his gaze holds hers, intense yet tender, leaving no doubt that his character has been lounging for this and wanting it for just as long if not longer than her.
Y/n takes a deep breath. This is it, she's about to kiss Gojo Satoru, the person she despises the most. She hopes it won't be awkward, the scene was going smoothly and the last thing she wants is a retake from the top, she also doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of the whole crew and become the topic of their gossip.
After a small pause, just as instructed by the director, she gives Gojo a small nod. Gently, and hesitantly, he cups her cheek as he brings his face closer to her. The nervousness on her face is mostly real and she doesn't know why she's feeling that way, she wants the scene to end already.
The moment their lips touch, something surged within Satoru and his free hand quickly grabs her waist to pull her closer to him. Did she always smell so... Devine? Why are her lips so soft? Is her lip balm candy flavoured? Why does she taste so sweet? Why can't he pull away from her?
The kiss is supposed to be gentle, a tender moment of affection, yet the way his hand was gripping the pajama top she's wearing betrays his character's intentions. But the way his thumb caresses her cheek is the opposite, grazing the warm skin softly like he's handling a little kitten. He knows heās supposed to pull away now. He wants to. He needs to, for the sake of this scene. But something holds him there and it's making him not care about the script anymore.
Itās only when he feels a gentle squeeze on his arm that he finally pulls back. He looks down at Y/n, her lips slightly swollen from the kiss, her wide eyes bright with a spark that stirs something deep within him, making him want to lean down and kiss her again.
ācut !ā
The pair jumped away from each other. They both forgot they were on a set, filming a show, and not in the comfort of their own homes.
āthat was just... Wow,ā the director shakes his head with a smile, āSatoru you went a little out of what I told you with the kiss, huh?ā
āyeah, sorry,ā he smirks with fake confidence, acting like his heart isn't beating faster than a racing car, āI just thought the moment needed that intensity, ya know? He's been waiting to kiss her for so long after all.ā
āNo I agree, you did the right thing. Go ahead and take five, everyone. This is one of those rare times when there's no need to do multiple takes, the first was perfect.ā
Y/n lets out a breath she didn't realise she was holding and quickly leaves to go grab a water and get some fresh air. She can't believe what just happened. That was definitely not a normal kiss, it felt too real. What was Gojo thinking!? Why didn't he stick to the script and kept it short? And why did she like it so much? She's not supposed to! She's supposed to hate him and everything he does.
āY/n? Can we talk in your trailer, please?ā
Fuck... Please don't let that be Gojo, please let her ears be mistaken and it's not his voice asking her to talk in private, please-
She turns around, and it's him. He stands there, hands tucked into his pockets, looking a little... Shy? Since when does Gojo Satoru feel anything less than bold and confident? There's an unusual softness to his expression, one she only sees when he's playing his character, but without the little voice in the back of her head reminding her that he's just acting.
Despite not wanting to talk to him, she still nods and follows him to her trailer that wasn't parked far away from where they stood. She lets him in first and closes the door behind her to ensure no one can hear whatever they're about to talk about.
As they stood across from each other, Gojo's eyes dart everywhere except to her face, something he has never done before. His usual bravado is gone and replaced with an unusual hesitance. She watches him with a puzzled look on her face. Why is he acting so out of character? It's as if he's nervous to talk to her.
Eventually though, he opens his mouth.
āI apologize for going out of script during the kiss. I didn't plan it to happen and I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable.ā
Now he's apologising? Okay, something is definitely wrong. Gojo has never apologised to her in the three years they've been working together. She is starting to feel nervous herself.
āIt's okay, really,ā she crosses her arms across her chest, ālike you explained to the director, it's what you felt the scene needed, and I respect you as an experienced actor to know what you're doing.ā
āThat wasn't my reason, though.ā
Her eyes nearly bulge out of her skull. Huh?!
āwhat ?ā
He takes a step closer to her, a look on his face she couldn't describe, āthat's just a lie I made up on the spot. I felt a pull when our lips touched, I don't know what happened to me and it's driving me mad,ā he runs a hand through his hair, a habit his manager told her he does when he's anxious, āI couldn't stop myself, so I just let whatever it is take over, but I still couldn't stop, I tried but I just couldn't pull away and Iā I want to kiss you again! I want to kiss you right now!ā
āGojo, calm do-ā her words fall on deaf ears.
āNo! You don't understand! I want to kiss you, but you hate me! You can't even look at me without being disgusted, and I keep making it worse! I keep showing the worst version of myself around you and it makes you hate me more and-ā
āGojo! Stop!ā
The look on his face is breaking her heart. He seems so desperate, struggling to put his feelings into words, but every attempt only makes him more anxious, his words stumbling over each other as he tries to make her understand.
āI don't hate you, Satoruā, his heart flutters at the sound of his first name coming out of her lips. Even in interviews, she always used his last name, this is the first time he hears her call him Satoru, āI hate how you act when we're together behind the scenes. You're always so sweet to everyone but I'm always the one you tease, and sometimes your teasing hurts.ā
āI'm sorry, I'm so sorry. It's just- I've liked you, as a person, before we even started working together, and I treated you how I treated my close friends. I didn't realise I was overstepping boundaries.ā
Why is it so easy to forgive him? It must be something to do with the blue I'm his eyes, it holds some sort of spell that makes everyone want to be on his good side.
āIt's okay, as long as you own up to your mistakes and don't repeat them, I'm willing to see past it all and start new.ā
A huge smile takes over his face, content with her answer. He is so happy, he's been wanting to do this for so long. He knew he wronged her and needed to apologise for his actions, but he never knew how to approach it.
Without warning her, he lifts her up in a hug. A squeal left her lips followed by a melodic laugh as she hears him thank her over and over again. She allows herself to enjoy the warmth of his hug. His fans didn't lie, he is really good at them.
He pulls away enough to look at her face without unwrapping his arms from around her, āCan we start new by allowing me to take you on a date? I promise I'll treat you like the princess you are.ā
She feels her cheeks heating up with a blush as she nods, unable to hide the small, shy smile tugging at her lips. Gojo grins wider, his eyes lighting up with an unmistakable spark of excitement and something tender, ācan I kiss you again? Please?ā
She barely finishes nodding before his lips are on hers. Heās smiling into the kiss, unable to hide the joy bubbling up inside him as he realizes his newfound feelings are reciprocated.
And yeah, she did like him more than she let on. The small crush she had on him before they met definitely didn't disappear like she thought it did, instead it stayed hidden away and came back out when she felt his lips for the first time.
She never expected this nor planned on letting herself fall for The Gojo Satoru Charmā¢, but with him here, holding her close, and pressing a kiss filled with passion on her lips, she realises maybe, just maybe, sheās been wanting this all along.
The ending looked way better in my daydream lol. Hope y'all liked it still š

I've made a post about great lesser-known noirs, but it occurs to me that some of you might not be familiar with the classics, and might want to know where to start. This is a ridiculously short list- I have a million more to talk about- but here are some of the big stars of the genre.
The Maltese Falcon: Sam Spade, a clever but callous private detective, gets wrapped up in intrigue relating to an artifact that is functionally cursed. If he's an unscrupulous character, just wait until you meet everyone else. The whole damn cast is electrifying, lending charm and cruelty in equal measure.
The Big Sleep: Philip Marlowe, a kinder and more poetic detective for Humphrey Bogart to play than Spade, is called upon to deal with a wealthy, dysfunctional family, and it keeps on getting weirder from there. Is the sharp-tongued Vivian Sternwood the femme fatale she seems, or is she just another person trying to find the right thing to do in desperate circumstances? And will she and Marlowe keep their hands off each other until the plot has had its last twist?
Double Indemnity: Rich housewife Phyllis Dietrichson and sleazy insurance agent Walter Neff are, by their own admission, rotten people. It's only natural that they should plot a murder together, and that they should turn on each other the very second things go wrong. Every single domestic murder movie since 1944 has ripped this off.
Kiss Me Deadly: This is nominally an adaptation of a Mike Hammer story. Screenwriter Bezzerides hated Mike Hammer. As depicted here, he is one of the worst people in the world. Depending on the cut of the film you see, he may inadvertently cause the nuclear apocalypse. (For once, the theatrical cut is darker.)
Sweet Smell of Success: Cruel, all-powerful columnist JJ Hunsecker wants his sister's boyfriend out of the way (for reasons that are, um, ambiguous.) To accomplish this, he enlists the biggest weasel in New York, Sidney Falco, and the two completely deserve each other as they spend the rest of the movie trading elaborate insults. Popular on tumblr for its dialogue and chemistry between the leads.
Sunset Boulevard: Broke screenwriter Joe Gillis thinks he can con a has-been into hiring him as a script doctor, and that's the last free decision he ever gets to make. From then on, his life is in the hands of Norma Desmond, silent film starlet turned crazed recluse, terrifying yet intensely pitiable. This is as much gothic horror as noir.
Ace in the Hole: The story of a man trapped in a cave is turning out to be a big hit in the newspaper, and if the publicity will make a reporter's career, then what's the harm in delaying rescue just for a little while? This is as vicious as noir gets, but damn it, you've just got to see what happens next. (Watch Jacob Geller's video Fear of the Depths after this.)
Sorry Wrong Number: Of all the films on this list, this is the one that really scared me. In the days of switchboards, a rich hypocondriac woman is connected to the wrong phone line and overhears a murder being planned. It doesn't take her long to figure out she's the intended victim, and each call she makes or recieves makes the situation darker. But how can she escape her fate if she can't- or won't leave her bed?
The Asphalt Jungle: The heist movie. Maybe the only heist movie ever made. Every line is quotable. Every member of the team is an unforgettable personality. When things go wrong, they go horribly wrong. One minute you're laughing, and the next minute you think you'll never laugh again.
Gun Crazy: Laurie and Bart, two practiced sharpshooters, are perhaps the most perfect match in all of noir- and that's a bad thing. When one half of the duo gets a criminal idea in their head, the other can't say no. When the opportunity to ditch her man like a sap comes up, the femme fatale throws it away to be doomed at his side. He fell in love with her when she first aimed a gun at him. Quentin Tarantino kissed star Peggy Cummins's feet at a showing of the film, and I hope she kicked him in the head.
Laura: Everyone was in love with Laura Hunt, and somebody killed her- or did they? Did they get the right person? Is the cop on the case in love with a dead woman? Was her columnist mentor just her gay best friend, or was there something darker beneath that facade? And what would Laura think of all this? A big inspiration on Twin Peaks.
In a Lonely Place: Bogart isn't at all heroic here, as a screenwriter with a drinking habit and a violent temper. He's obviously a bad idea to date, but just how bad an idea? He's not the type of guy who'd kill a woman, is he? Bogart and Gloria Holden give perhaps their best performances here, and they'll wound your soul.
Touch of Evil: A Mexican cop (played, unfortunately, by Charlton Heston) finds out a nasty secret about the big hero cop Hank Quinlan: he's framed the culprit in most of his cases. Not because he's crooked, but because his intuition tells him they're guilty. Director Orson Welles as Quinlan is frightening, grotesque, and a little bit tragic in what some consider the last classic noir.
The Killers: The first twenty minutes or so are an adaptation of a Hemingway story, where out of town hitmen gun down a man so depressed he won't even bother to run from them. The rest of the film is an investigation into how he got that way. It had something to do with a radiant gangster's girl, and something to do with a few botched crimes. Sometimes a man can die before the bullets even touch him.
The Third Man: Everybody is lying about the whereabouts of an American expatriate named Harry when his friend comes looking. Did they do something to him? Or, more frightening still, is he the one who's been doing things to other people? Orson Welles is a more charming monster than he was in Touch of Evil; the light and shadows on his face cast him as a vampire, while his fingers sticking up through the sewer grate look like something terrifying emerging from the earth.

Okay, after having a few days to process, I am allowing myself one vent post to get it out of my system and then itās back to āØpositive vibesāØ only
If I see one more goddamn smarmy post about how āthe writing was on the wall the whole timeā (with the undercurrent of āyou were too stupid to see it, I have the only valid interpretationā) Iām going to lose it
Had we not had 8x05, the breakup still would have bummed me out, but I would have said, you know what, fair, we didnāt see a whole lot of their relationship, a lot of it was fanon and headcanons. We had a good run. But we did get 8x05, apparently some of it filmed out of order knowing a breakup was coming, and what was the point? To be cruel? It felt like a slap in the face to people who liked that relationship.
They could have laid some groundwork to show some cracks in the relationship, but no. Ignoring disingenuous interpretations from people who have been rooting for the ship to crash and burn since day one, 8x05 established Buck & Tommy as a solid couple. Tommy gets along with Eddie, the three of them had great chemistry together. Tommy takes care of Buck when heās hurt. Tommy thinks the curse is a bunch of bs (as does Eddie) but still went with Buck to have a funeral for a mummy. Itās like I watched someone cook an elaborate, delicious dinner for me and then they immediately threw it in the trash, and other people around me made fun of me for being blindsided and upset because I should have seen that coming.
I wonāt pretend the general audience is a monolith who all have the same opinions. Iām sure there are people who donāt care and just shrugged their shoulders that another relationship of Buckās fizzled out. But I have 2 friends who watch the show and arenāt Fandom Fans, and they are always my barometer for how people who donāt have brain rot (affectionate) feel about the show. One really liked the relationship, the other was neutral to mildly negative on it, and both of them agreed that it felt like the breakup came out of nowhere and made no sense given the context of the previous episode. So please stop pretending that itās only BT fandom fans who have their knickers in a twist about how it played out.
If this isnāt leading to buddie, then I donāt want to see another love interest for either Buck or Eddie for the rest of the show. Tommy had so much potential to break the cycle of Buckās love interests (and interviews from last season seem to support that they were aware of this and planning on utilizing that) and throwing it away feels like such a waste.
So yeah, instead of being just bummed, Iām pissed. I do not know if there was BTS drama or if Tim got some other grand idea for Buckās storyline this season ā but given how plots are adopted and dropped at rapid fire pace this season (something I was willing to forgive last season because of the shortened production timeline and fewer episodes), Iām highly skeptical that thereās any sort of overarching plan here.
Iāve never thought buddie would actually happen on the show, but I also never thought either Buck or Eddie would ever be anything other than straight, so Iād be happy to be proven wrong. Iām just a little jaded by seeing people doing a victory lap convinced that buddie canon is imminent when I think that they are giving the writers a lot more credit than they deserve for supposedly crafting this epic love story for the last five or so years when a lot of that is also just generous fanon interpretation. I need explicit confirmation within the show by the end of this season that at least one of them has caught feelings or Iām over entertaining the possibility it will actually happen.
I know the joy will come back. But I really hope the same plot lines playing out ad nauseam for every character stops because Iām getting a little tired.

Hi bb!!! Long time no see I missed you smmšI hope you're doing good and resting wellššI had some annoying questions (as usual)
-I was watching some old bts mvs and I had a question which is, did pre-debut hima ever make a cameo in any bts mv before?
-this might sound weird but is there a specific meal or dessert or anything food related that is special to mingri? Like for example there's a lot of dishes that I connect with certain people either because we had a great memory while eating it together, or because they just remind me of it
-who are hima's closest idol friends and is there a specific idol that she opened up about her past to before she did that publicly
-has mimi and mingi released a song before dating that had some unsaid feelings? As they are both songwriters and alot of songwriters use songwriting as a way to portray unsaid emotions or feels towards a specific person
-last one I promise, is there any specific routine that the members started doing because of hima like it could be anything that she used to do alone that slowly became something they all started doing
I love you so much bb please eat and rest well mwahhššš
OMGGG MINA HI!! I missed you too š„¹I'm doing okay don't worry, a little busy and you know uni stress, but I'm managing well! I love your "annoying" questions don't worry š
ā¢ Yoongi wanted to protect his sister from the media until her debut but the other members really wanted to involve her in a project, so he caved in and allowed her to appear briefly in the 'Run' music video. In an individual scene they can be seen at a small street shop, the girl almost 14 at the time, was pointing at a certain food very insistently and Yoongi eventually bought it for her with a falsely exasperated expression before ruffling her hair as they walked away. As per the rapper's very strict requests the scene was filmed in such a way that her face was not fully visible, only ever showing either her eyes, the back of her body, the lower half of her face, but never her entirely
The credit scenes also showed brief footage of them play fighting on set before he let her throw him onto the couch, grabbing her as she tried to run away in order to tickle her. Since news of their sibling relationship was not announced until 2019, people had many speculations about who this girl was but due to her visibly young age they simply wrote her off as a child actress that had grown close to the members
ā¢ When Mingi was feeling down she would bake him small tiramisu portions and sit in silence with him as he ate, often resting on his shoulder as reassurance, so in turns he attempted to make it as well. Unfortunately it did not turn out very edible and he was forced to sheepishly ask her for help, leading to the two bonding over it during one of the darkest days of their lives. Ever since then it's become a little habit to make this sweet treat for each other whenever they feel like the other needs comfort
ā¢ Hima, our little social butterfly, knows many people in the industry but is closest with; Jihyo and Momo (though she's close with TWICE as a whole), Jungkook, S.Coups, DIno (they have a secret maknae gc), Hyunjin and Bangchan. (She's also recently made friends with Kiss of Life's Julie, XG's Jurin and Chisa, and they're besties idc) The first ones to know about her past were obviously BTS, then ATEEZ and Taemin just so happened to guess from her behavior that something along those lines happened, leading to her opening up to him. Due to the very close sister-like bond, Jihyo also learned about it in detail prior to it becoming public knowledge. The only people who really know exactly what happened between her and Yoongi however are J-Hope and V (who overheard the conversation)
ā¢ Mingi wrote 'The Letter' using his longing for her - disguising it as nothing more than inspiration from some story he heard - and ironically enough Himari's song was also approved to be in an official album last minute under the name 'All About You'. The rest of these songs are still deep in their hard drives somewhere as neither wanted to have these feelings in the public eye due to this being a sensitive and painful topic
ā¢ It's usually Hima that picks things up from the members but one specific thing they began doing subconsciously is her little zoning out habit; whenever she zones out she tends to stick her tongue out a bit and they - mainly Wooyoung and Yeosang - started copying this. When she yawns she usually stretches her arms out in front of her and makes cat paw-like gestures to loosen her fingers and San actually picked up on this - our nyang-teez. While it's not much of a routine, she'll build stone towers to pray for the members' health habitually and seeing that it was very special to her they began doing it too
I love you too my sweet! Take very good care of yourself okay ? Mwahh š„°š©·

Sunlight filtered through the wide windows of Charles' office, casting a warm glow over the mahogany desk and polished floors. Logan paused in the doorway, feeling the familiar tension coil through him even before he fully entered. His gut twisted as he took in the sight of E leaning casually against the desk, one hip propped up, her head already turned toward the door, watching him approach. The calm, focused look on her face set him on edge, like she was always one step ahead, pulling unseen strings. Every time he saw her, it felt like she dug her claws deeper into his space, into him, without even trying.
"Logan, come in." The professorās voice was warm, though there was a hint of tiredness to it. "We were just finishing up. Have a seat."
Logan ignored the invitation, his arms crossing over his chest as his eyes locked on E. āWhatās this about?ā
Charles gestured to the papers on his desk. "As you know, the school is growing, and with that comes more scrutiny from the government." He glanced at E, then back to Logan. "Thatās why we worked on some contractsāto make everything as official and seamless as possible. We want things above board, so no one has any reason to be suspicious of us."
Loganās pulse quickened as Charles spoke, each word digging into a place heād thought had scarred over but never truly healed. He could feel the weight of the documents between them, a weight pressing down on his chest, squeezing until he couldnāt breathe. Just the mention of those papers, the mere sight of them, was like a trigger pulledāsnapping him back to shadows heād fought to bury. Contracts meant control; control meant deceit. Old instincts roared awake, instincts that told him to fight, to claw his way free. His mind twisted back, unbidden, to the sharp crack of a pen against paper, his name signed under false pretenses. Faces flashed before him, cold and detached, each one using him as if he were nothing more than sharpened adamantium, each one an anchor dragging him back to glimpses of a past he desperately tried to escape, yet crave to piece back together at the same time.
Memories slammed togetherāsoldiers' cries, the dead weight of bodies, his own silent rage coiled like barbed wire around his gut. Promises broken, betrayalsā¦ He could barely register the room around him, the walls that meant safety and acceptance. All he felt now was the past closing in, like a cageārestrictive, suffocating. And then a single thought broke through, a rough mantra, ringing into his head, so loud it pulled him from the spiral: āToday is victory over yourself of yesterdayā¦ā
Logan blinked hard, shaking his head as he forced himself back to his senses, the slow ache of his claws tearing through his knuckles breaking through the fog. With gritted teeth, he pulled them back before they became visible. After a short sigh, his eyes flicked from the papers to E, then to Charles, his scowl deepening. āThis is bullshit. Iām not some soldier you can pin down with paperwork, Chuck.ā His voice was low, the ghost of past betrayals still burning in his chest as his hand clenched tightly at his side. āI donāt belong to anyone, and I sure as hell donāt need to be tied up in a contract like this. Iāve been here long enough, and Iām not about to start following rules that donāt make sense to me.ā
Charles clasped his hands together on his desk, his voice soft but firm, trying to ease the distress he saw in his friendās behavior. āLogan, youāre right,ā he validated, calm yet earnest. āYouāre no soldier hereāyouāre a mentor, and youāve proven that. But this contract is necessary. You know the risks; despite Ravenās actions, the government is still watching mutants closely after all these years. These contracts are for the teachersā protection, for the students, and for the school itself.ā
His expression was calm, deliberate, like he was teaching a class. Logan could see the weight of responsibility on Charles's shoulders, a reminder of the burdens they all carried. āItās a formality to ensure youāre recognized as part of the staff. If they start asking questions, this contract might be our best defense.ā
He held Loganās gaze, the tension building in the air between them. In a quieter tone, he added, āThis isnāt about control; itās about security. If something were to happen, this paperwork could mean the difference between staying under the radar and drawing unwanted attention.ā Logan felt a flicker of unease at the thought but pushed it aside, his feral pride refusing to let him show any weakness in front of E.
He shook his head, the tension in his shoulders thickening with each word. āA formality? Security? Itās a damn leash, thatās what it is! And I know sheās behind this.ā His tone was sharp, the accusation clear as his chin jerked toward E, his eyes still on Charles.
E raised a brow, a slight smirk dancing at the corner of their lips. āThey,ā they corrected smoothly, their voice slipping in like silk over a blade.
Loganās eyes snapped to her face, his brows knitting in confusion, anger swirling in his glare. āWhat?ā
āYou said āshe,āā E explained, their tone lilting with amusement, not even flinching under the weight of his gaze. āI prefer āthey.āā
For a second, Logan blinked, caught off guard. The shift in their demeanorāso detached, almost playfulādisarmed him. It was a rare response to his fury, and it chipped away at the anger bubbling in his chest. He gave a quick, gruff nod, like a student getting a slap on the wrist for falling into a masterās trap. āRight. They.ā
His lips pressed into a firm line, the weight of the situation settling like a stone in his gut. Yet, that primal part of him refused to fold so easily. āBut that aināt the point. The point is, Iām not signing a damn thing before Iāve read it. Iām not some teacher that punches a clock. You know me, Charles.ā
Charles nodded, like he expected this. āI do, my friend. And I donāt want to force you into anything youāre uncomfortable with. But itās necessary. If youāre going to keep mentoring, you need to be recognized officially as part of the schoolās staff.ā
Loganās jaw clenched as his gaze flicked from the papers back to E, who hadnāt taken their eyes off him. His fingers twitched, itching to pull at the collar of his shirt, the weight of the contract already tightening around his neck.
A metallic muffled sound came from under Eās jacketās sleeve as they shifted, leaning into their stance with one hand on Charlesā desk, the other resting on their waist and Loganās eyes were drawn, almost against his will, to the subtle curve of their chest beneath the deep red blouse. The top few buttons were undone, revealing just a hint of cleavage, a thin golden chain that held a delicate white pearl, resting against their skin. For a second, his thoughts strayed before he forced his gaze back up, catching the faint hint of their dark horns just peeking from under their hairāa sharp reminder of exactly who he was dealing with.
āItās just official paperwork, Logan,ā they said, voice smooth with a playful lilt, enjoying the ripple of energy they felt from him as his thoughts wandered, though their expression stayed composed. āI can help you with the legal mumbo jumbo if youāre having trouble. Iād be happy to give you a private lessonā¦ walk you through all the fine print, personally.ā
Loganās cheeks flushed, just for a second, barely noticeable beneath his hardened exterior, but it was there. E could feel the familiar tingle coming from him, that want simmering beneath his anger. His jaw tightened, fists clenching at his sides, and he shot them a glare, willing the heat away as if itād been nothing. āI aināt havinā trouble with anything,ā he growled, his voice low and rough. But E simply watched him with an amused, knowing glint in their eye, a faint laugh catching under their breath.
Charles, observing the exchange, raised an eyebrow, eyes twinkling with the slightest bit of humor. Clearing his throat gently, he spoke up in to ease the rising tension. āE, letās not push too hard. Loganās cautious, but we need to find a compromise. And Logan, Iām afraid that until we reach an agreement that satisfies both sides, Iāll have to ask you to step down from your teaching position. I canāt risk the schoolās safety.ā
The words hit like a punch to the gut. Logan stiffened, his fists clenching harder, knuckles now white. Stepping down? It felt like an ultimatum, but Charles wasnāt wrong. The safety of the school had always come first. Eās gaze softened just slightly, though he could still see that flicker of amusement in their eyes. āYouāre right, Professor. My apologies.ā They turned to Logan, offering a nod. āI got carried awayāit was unprofessional of me. I understand where youāre coming from, and Iām willing to collaborate with you so we may find a solution that works for both parties.ā
As E pulled away into their composed demeanor, he felt the thread coiling in his gut relaxing, leaving him more room to breathe.
Logan wasnāt used to them backing down that easily, and it threw him for a second. He shifted, narrowing his eyes in suspicion, his faint scowl deepening as he muttered, āHuh?ā It was as if a switch had flipped, and he couldnāt help but wonder what their angle was. āOkay?ā
And E could have left it there, but something inside urged them to add, a spark of teasing in their gaze, āAfter all, youāre not one to play by anyone elseās rules. So why not help shape the ones that work for you?ā
Logan shot them a sharp look, their words sinking in slowly. He hated how they got under his skin, how easily they seemed to read him. But they werenāt wrong, either.
He took a breath, unclenching his hands, though he still felt like a cornered animal. āFine. Weāll work something out. But Iām not signing anything that tries to box me in, Charles. I need enough room to be me.ā
Charlesās expression softened in relief, giving a small nod of approval. āOf course, my friend. Take your timeāI want you to feel comfortable with this. Weāll reconvene when youāre both ready.ā He paused, glancing at the papers, before adding, āIn the meantime, Iāve got other work that requires my attention.ā
Logan barely registered the Professor dismissing them, his mind still tangled in the strange feeling of the interaction. E pushed off the desk gracefully, straightening the black jacket of their suit before gathering their things with practiced ease. When they finally stepped out of Charlesā office, Logan followed them out into the hallway. They walked in silence for a beat, the air between them still buzzing, though less tense than before. Yet, their scent still lingeredāsmoky, with a hint of spiceāreminding him of their presence. And E, in turn, felt the simmering conflict inside himāthe push and pull of resistance and attraction. It wasnāt enough to satiate them, but it would have to do for now, even if it left them wanting more. They allowed a brief, satisfied smile to ghost across their lips before tucking it away, resuming a more reserved expression.
āWhen do you want to go over the documents?ā Eās voice was professional once more, all traces of their earlier playfulness gone, though a flicker of something else remained behind their eyes, like they were holding back.
Logan glanced over at them, still surprised by how quickly theyād shifted gears. This side of themāfocused, efficientāwas easier to handle. He could deal with this.
āTomorrow, maybe. Got some time around three.ā
E nodded, a hint of consideration in their gaze despite the reluctance in his tone. āI could make that work. Weāll go over everything, step by step. No surprises.ā
The calm confidence they exuded kept catching him off guard, and against his better judgment, he found himself watching them differently. Was there more beneath that troublemaker act they put on around him?
E mustāve felt his gaze because they turned slightly, offering a small, almost sincere smile. āIāll see you then.ā Their voice was all business, but a hint of warmth slipped throughāwithout the usual edge of teasing.
Logan grunted in response, but as they walked away, something lingered at the edge of his mind. Yes, there might be more to them than the predatory front theyād shown since they met. And maybe, just maybe, they werenāt as much trouble as he thought.
Or perhaps it was a ploy to lure him in, to make him relax and step willingly into their web. In any case, he wasnāt about to let his guard down. Not yet.
The library was quiet in the mid-afternoon light when Logan arrived, the subtle scent of aged paper and polished wood mixing with the now too familiar blend of spice wrapped in smoke. He pushed the door open with a soft creak, eyes immediately scanning the room, and sure enough, there they wereāalready seated at one of the large tables, surrounded by hefty open books, scattered documents, and a legal pad filled with meticulous notes.
E barely glanced up as he approached, their focus sharp on the papers spread out before them. The soft scratching of their pen on the smooth surface filled the air, the fluidity of their movements mesmerizing, almost hypnotic. Every action was deliberate, from the graceful lines they traced to the calm demeanor they carried.
Logan stood there for a moment, taking it all ināthe precision and quiet focus they exuded. He couldnāt help but notice the neatness of their work: each point laid out clearly, with little diagrams and annotations. It wasnāt just thorough; it was methodical yet beautiful, almost like an art form. Even their handwriting, flowing effortlessly across the pageāa blend of sharp angles and elegant curvesāwas damn near perfect.
He cleared his throat, and E, still writing, held up a finger, brows furrowed in focus. The gentle chime of their braceletsāthree in total, one gold and two redāsounded as they moved, the soft music an elegant counterpoint to the silence. They needed to finish that thought, not wanting to lose their concentration. Logan waited for a few heartbeats, struck by the command in their motion, a powerful yet silent order that stoked the embers they had nestled in his chest during the last couple of weeks. When E finally looked up, their gaze met his with calm professionalism, but there was a flash of something elseāan interest that sharpened their eyes, just for a heartbeat, before it vanished.
"You're early," they noted, their voice soft but steady, carrying just enough weight to catch his attention. "I wasnāt expecting you for anotherā¦ā They quickly glanced at the delicate golden watch on their wrist. āā¦ half hour, at least." There was a pause, and E gestured toward the chair on the other side of the table. "Please, sit."
Logan obeyed reluctantly, still unsettled by the way they were behavingācold, detached, like they were someone else entirely. The tension between them had loosened so much he could hardly feel it, as if it might vanish entirely if he tried to reach for it. āFigured Iād get this over with,ā he mumbled, his eyes not leaving their face.
A small smile played at the corner of their lips, and they flipped one of the hefty books closed to make room between them, before pushing a section of the contract toward him. "Well, Iāve already gone through most of the legal terms and highlighted the parts you might find concerning. If something still doesnāt sit right with you, we can discussā¦ adjustments."
Logan raised an eyebrow. āYouāve been busy.ā
āI donāt like wasting time on work.ā Their eyes flicked to the stack of notes they had assembled, before neatly setting them aside. āLetās just get through this.ā
Logan picked up the contract, flipping through the pages slowly. The neat little annotations caught his eyeāsmall, concise memorandums in that same precise handwriting on flashy sticky notes, guiding him through each clause. As much as he hated to admit it, the thoroughness was impressive. āYou really did all this?ā
E leaned back slightly in their chair, crossing their arms, a faint smile playing at the corners of their lips, like they were enjoying something only they understood, and he felt a subtle pull inside, a tension stirring. āI told you Iād help you with the legal stuff, didnāt I?ā
Loganās eyes drifted to the pages again, unable to ignore howā¦ perfect their handwriting was. Every sentence was clear, fluid, each letter delicate, intentional. They hadnāt just scrawled down information in a rushānot only theyād taken the time to make it legible, but it also felt like they had crafted something meant to be appreciated, drawn with careful control, patience, like each and every stroke mattered.
āYou write like a damn artist,ā he muttered despite himself, half impressed, half irked by the precision of it all.
Eās soft chuckle was barely audible, but he caught the faintest hint of satisfaction in their expression as they watched him linger on the page. They were absorbing his reaction, almost savoring it, letting his admiration wash over them like a silent, steady current. āYears of practice,ā they replied, eyes glinting with a subtle satisfaction. āDidnāt expect you to notice details like that.ā
He grunted in response, still staring at the page before flipping to another section. āI donāt miss much.ā
E leaned forward again, the light jingle of their bracelets accompanying the movement as they tapped a finger on one of the highlighted paragraphs. āThis part, in particular, is important. Itās a non-disclosure clause. You might want to pay special attention to that.ā
Logan followed the motion of their finger, noting the cleanly filed nail that glimmered faintly under the lightāmaybe some sort of transparent polish? Even that was meticulously done, and the thought made something simmer in him before he blinked it away, refocusing on the contract. āSo I canāt say anything aboutā¦ what, exactly?ā
āAbout the students. The curriculum. The specific ways the school operates,ā they clarified, their tone even and clear, leaving no room for confusion, even as a subtle ripple passed between them. āItās a precaution to ensure no one leaks sensitive information.ā
Logan scowled, the idea gnawing at him. āI get why, but it feels like a muzzle.ā
Eās gaze softened slightly as they leaned back again, folding their hands neatly on the table in front of them. The metallic sound of their bracelets chimed softly, a delicate accent to the motion. āIt can feel that way, yes, but itās standard for any organization handling confidential matters, especially one like this school. It's about protecting everyone hereāespecially you and the kids. Though, we can amend the wording if thatāll make you moreā¦ comfortable.ā
Logan studied their face, taking in the sincerity behind their words. For once, it didnāt feel like they were toying with him or trying to play some angle. They were just doing their jobāand a damn good one at that.
He exhaled sharply, leaning back in his chair. āI donāt like beinā locked into something I donāt trust.ā
Eās eyes softened as they nodded slowly, their expression understanding. āThatās fair. We can tweak the language so itās more gray, more aligned with what youāre comfortable with. To give you room to adjust? You donāt have to feel trapped, Logan.ā
Loganās hand rubbed the back of his neck as he sighed. āYouāre makinā it real hard for me to argue, you know that?ā
Their smile was faint, their fingers gently drumming on the wooden desk between them. āIām not trying to make it harder. Just easier for you to see that this isnāt about control. Itās about protecting what youāre building here.ā
Logan dropped his eyes to the contract again, that tight, familiar knot in his chest loosening just a bit. He didnāt trust easyābut they were making a damn good case. He couldnāt deny that. He could see how carefully theyād worked through the details, the amount of care theyād put into making this whole thing understandable. It wasā¦ reassuring, in a way. As much as he hated to admit it, they had a point. It wasnāt about locking him into anythingāit was about making sure everything stayed secure. The kids came first, always.
He met their gaze again, something shifting between them. He still wasnāt ready to trust completely, but at least they were giving him a reason to reconsider. āAlright,ā he muttered, almost grudgingly. āLetās go through it.ā
E smiledāthis time, it was genuine. Not playful, not teasing, justā¦ genuine, content. They slid a few more papers toward him, their focus back on the work, but Logan couldnāt help but notice the shift in their energy. As they started explaining the finer points, guiding him through each legal term with that same sharp professionalism, he couldnāt help but admire the way they handled things. They were focused, sharp, and professional.
Maybe this was the side of them he could start to respect.
For now.
Theyād been at it for hours, bending and reshaping the terms until each clause balanced protection with freedom. E kept their demeanor professional, drawing on every ounce of restraint to keep their voice even and their gaze measured, ignoring the familiar hunger snapping at their focus now and then. And the more they worked, the more they could sense Logan beginning to relax, perhaps appreciating this side of themāthis businesslike efficiency that gave him room to breathe, rather than the tension they used to stir in him. He was still sharp and guarded around them, but in the subtle shifts of his body language, they sensed they were both easing into a more comfortable exchange, his trust inching closer as they tweaked the terms to help him maintain his independence.
In his careful consideration of each clause, they saw how deeply he valued his autonomy. His desire to protect the kids and guide them through a brutal world was unmistakable, yet he seemed determined to do it on his own terms. Watching him was like seeing a reflection of their own drive: the same visceral need to resist being anyoneās pawn, to forge a path where people like them werenāt turned into weapons or tools for the powerful. E knew what it was to navigate that treacherous line, to have allies rather than be a pawn, to be indispensable but never owned. Becoming a lawyer had finally allowed them to create partnerships, to protect their independence in a way they hadnāt had in the past.
They looked at Logan now, the way he was part of something great without letting it absorb him, and felt a twinge of resonance. It was like looking into a rippling, distorted mirror: his methods protective where theirs were persuasive, his presence blunt where theirs was all charm and deliberate control. But that difference made sense, considering their mutations. He had claws; they hadā¦this. This carefully wielded hold over emotions. Had they been born with claws, would they have protected instead of manipulated? They werenāt sure.
Their gaze drifted from the paper to his handsome face as they sank into those thoughts, the realization dawningāslow and unexpectedāthat he wasnāt simply a source of energy, or the toy theyād wanted him to be at first. He was a potential ally in a way few others could be. Someone who might amplify their strength instead of being drained. Not just a meal to be consumed but something rarerāa piece that, in its own strange way, completed the picture of who they could be. As if they were two sides of the same coin.
Lost in thought, they almost missed the slight cough as Logan cleared his throat, his voice breaking through their haze.
āNeed a break?ā he asked, a faint smirk tugging at his lips, catching them just off guard enough that they had to recompose themselves, reassemble that mask over their features before their thoughts slipped any further into the open.
āNo, Iām good,ā they replied, eyes turning back to the papers in front of them. āWeāre almost done, anyway.ā But as they looked away, a thought slipped ināa terrifying, persistent thought.
What if, just for a few moments, they let him see behind the surface?
The more they considered it, the more it tugged at them. Curiosity twisted into needāa need to be seen fully, not just for what they could do or the games they played, but for every scarred, layered piece that made them who they were. Logan was unique, after all. He understood the weight of living too many lifetimes, of carrying too many pasts. Maybe he, of all people, could handle the person they kept buried underneath.
They wrestled with the urge, every instinct resisting, their armor honed by years of experience and necessity. Something deep inside warned it was dangerousāunnecessary. But then againā¦ maybe not. Because the thought kept tugging, whispering that maybe, just maybe, it could be something greater. A partnership that didnāt hinge on pretense or servitude but on something raw and real, something powerful.
Their gaze returned to him, lingering. He was relaxed now, waiting, not pushing. And maybe thatās what finally broke their resolve.
āYou know, Logan,ā they began, the words slipping out, edged with a subtle amusement that curled at the corners of their mouth. āYouāreā¦ an interesting case.ā Their tone was light, but Logan could feel the weight behind it, something sharper. āIn a world full of people pursuing causes, you stand apart. Youāre here, fighting for something, part of a team, a mentorāyet you keep a step back, like youāre in it but always on the edge.ā
They took their time, choosing their words carefully. āNot interested in becoming anyoneās weapon. Not about to let anyone make a puppet out of you.ā They paused, their smile fading as their peculiar eyes locked with his, earnest, with a hint of challenge. āI respect that about you.ā
Loganās expression shifted, his relaxed posture tensing as he regarded them with a sharp glance. Crossing his arms, he studied their face, searching for their angle. There was no mistaking the twinkle in their gaze, a glint that almost dared him to see through it. He furrowed his brows, but his voice was steady. āYeah? Well, I donāt dance on anybodyās strings. If Iām fighting for something, itās because it matters to me. And I do it my way.ā
He watched as something flickered in their eyesāa veil lingering for a few heartbeats, like his words had pulled something deep from the shadows of their mind. When their gaze met his again, it was steadier, as if a quiet understanding had slipped between them. āI get that,ā they replied, voice low, the words hanging in the air with a quiet finality.
Logan studied them, suspicious of this sudden transparency. āSo what? Youāre saying youāre the same?ā he asked, his tone guarded, almost testing.
āMaybe.ā Their mouth curved in a smirk, one that seemed to bare their teeth as much as it smiled. āLetās say Iāve had experience balancing independence withā¦ affiliations.ā They leaned forward slightly, the light metallic sound of their bracelets chiming with the motion, drawing his attention and making his senses sharpen. Their gaze glinted with something that hinted at danger, at control. āWhen people see power, they get ideas. They get greedy. Sometimes, we have to show them whoās in chargeādecide where the lines are, or blur them if it suits us.ā
Loganās brows knit, eyes narrowing. āSo, youāre tellinā me you dance along the line but wonāt let anyone hold your strings.ā He leaned back, gaze sharp. āHowās that working out for you?ā
They gave a light shrug, a glimmer of amusement in their eyes. āYouād be surprised. Charles, for one, respects itābut you already know that.ā They smirked, as if holding back a bigger truth. āThere are others, too. Equally powerfulā¦ Stark, for instance.ā
Loganās eyebrows shot up at the name, genuine interest breaking through his cautious demeanor, crumbs of energy swallowed by Eās greedy hunger. āStark? As in the Tony Stark?ā He couldnāt hide the hint of curiosity in his tone and leaned in, almost imperceptibly. āYou actually know the guy?ā
They lifted their brows, a small pout on their lips, playing down the significance of it with an offhand shrug, though Logan noticed a spark of pride in their eyes. āWorked with him, actually. Fresh out of law school. I had a friendāblind attorney, good guyāwho mentioned Stark needed someone sharp to helpā¦ clean up a few things. Secure patents, keep his tech out of the wrong hands.ā They kept it vague, partly out of client confidentiality and partly knowing that Logan wasnāt likely interested in legal specifics.
āNot exactly glamorous, but it was an exhilarating start,ā they added, the flicker of pride now shining in their voice. āLetās just say that navigating the minefield of a billionaireās reputation certainly kept things interesting. And it was good for the notoriety.ā
Flecks of emotion brushed against something deep within Eāa faint thrill they quickly stifled but couldnāt entirely ignoreāas Logan muttered something under his breath, a note of respect edging his tone. Heād always seen Stark as the kind of guy who didnāt trust anyone but himselfāand maybe his assistant, or whatever she was now. āBet that kept you busy.ā
A chuckle escaped them, eyes glinting as the soft chime of their bracelets accompanied the sound. āBusy? He kept me on my toes. The manās got a mind like wildfire; it was a challenge keeping up. But it wasā¦ refreshing.ā They leaned back, an almost nostalgic look slipping over their face. āI guess it taught me to walk the line, to make a difference without being tied down.ā
Loganās eyes narrowed thoughtfully, intrigued despite himself. The story felt like a glimpse into the puzzle of their past. āSo howād you end up here?ā he asked, his curiosity piqued. āNot that Iām sayinā this place is a downgrade or anything,ā he added with a smirk, resting his arms on the table.
They sensed his interest like a pulse, faint but unmistakable. It seeped into them, stirring that familiar, alluring rush, and they let out a soft laugh, an edge of amusement in their eyes. āDid you know Charles and Stark held a gala a few months back to fund the schoolās new equipment?ā
Logan nodded, some recognition flitting across his face. āI remember hearing about it. Charity thing, wasnāt it?ā
āExactly.ā Their voice stayed casual, but their eyes sparkled with the thrill of memory. āThatās where I met Charles.ā Their gaze flicked back to him, pausing just long enough to let the moment breathe. āWe got along right away. He needed someone to navigate the legalities and ensure the schoolās mission stayed protected. A few conversations later, and here I am.ā Their eyes held his, a glimmer of interest that wasnāt easily brushed aside, as his curiosity continued to fuel something deep within them.
Logan could feel it tooāa pull he couldnāt resist, a delicate pressure building inside him, different from the sharp pull of their first exchanges. This was smoother, quieter, sinking in with each new glimpse he got of Eās story, drawing him in until pulling back wasnāt an option. He sensed the quiet power behind everything they revealed, and it stirred something deeper in himāa mix of respect, intrigue, and the surprising comfort of recognition, that kept the tension going.
He leaned back, crossing his arms again, a smirk tugging at his lips. āSo, you just go wherever the cause suits you, huh?ā His voice held a challenge underlined by curiosity. āIf Stark showed up again tomorrow, youād be right back in his corner?ā
E nodded, unfazed by the edge in his tone. āIf his goals align with mine? Yes. Of course Iād work with him again! Without a second thought! Same goes for Charles.ā Their gaze softened, a glimmer of conviction breaking through their usually controlled demeanor. āI want to be part of something that matters, Logan.ā
Logan studied them, catching just how much they meant it. Heād known E wasnāt anyoneās puppet, but now he could see they werenāt waiting around for someone to hand them a cause, either. They were carving out their own pathāfluid, adaptable, going wherever their instincts took them. And he found himself respecting that: their drive, mixed with that fierce independence. Hell, he could relate to itāmaybe even admire it a little.
E felt it, the ripple of his respect, like a quiet current feeding into them. For all their control, a spark of satisfaction slipped through their gaze, their mask almost slipping as they met his eyes. His admiration, rare and guarded, felt potentādangerously so. The energy coursed through them, lingering like a hidden pulse beneath their skin. They shifted slightly, regaining composure before his steady gaze could pierce too deeply.
They looked calm, in control, continuing their previous thought. āIām loyal to a cause.ā Then, their eyes took on a sharper edge, something deeper flickering beneath the surface. āBut Iāll never let myself be chained to anyone ever again.ā
There was a flash of anger, fierce and unyielding, sparking in their gaze. The quiet chime of their bracelets sounded as they leaned forward, their voice steady but intense. āThereās too much to do, too many ways to make a differenceālike what you do here with these kids.ā
Logan didnāt miss the brief fire of fury that had slipped through the cracks in their cool confidence, just enough to reveal a scar, raw and unhealed. They didnāt merely have a preference for freedom; it was a need, born from something that had burned them hard and left its mark. That kind of wound didnāt heal easyāheād know.
He held their gaze, his expression softening with a rare flicker of understanding. E might play at being dangerous and unpredictable, but he was beginning to see past the games, past the mischief. Beneath it all, they werenāt half as threatening as they liked to seemānot to him, anyway. And now he wondered if their determination to make a difference came from more than just ambition. Maybe they were out here carving paths so no one else would have to walk through the fire alone.
Just as quickly, Eās eyes narrowed, the hint of vulnerability vanishing as they pulled themselves back. Their lips curved into a knowing smirk, that easy, predatory edge sliding into place. āWhatās with the look, Logan?ā they purred, voice rich with playful menace. āDidnāt think Iād have you figured out that quickly?ā
He tilted his head, a low chuckle rolling out as his eyes held steady, watching them with newfound clarity. āLong way from that, sweetheart,ā he replied, his voice as rough as the smile he wore. His stare cut through their guarded expression, tracing that hidden spark they were still trying to shield. āBut Iāve seen enough to figure out thereās a hell of a lot more goinā on with you that what you let on.ā
They scoffed, dismissive as ever, though Loganās steady gaze didnāt miss the faint, almost imperceptible shift in their eyes, the way they lingered on him just a second too long. They were good at playing the part; he could give them that. And hell, he had to respect itāthe way they held their ground, defiant but calm, ready to take on whatever came next. But heād caught a glimpse behind their guard nowājust enough to give him a way in, a thread he could pull if he wanted, evening the power balance between them. A hint of a smirk tugged at his lips; theyād shown him more than they intended, and he planned on playing that to his advantage.
E met his stare, the faintest crease of tension at the edge of their mouth as they spoke. āThereās not much going on with me,ā they said smoothly, though their tone carried an edge, a warning, like a line drawn firmly in the sand. āAt best, youāll see someone whoās lived long enough to know that, at some point, weāre just the sum of our own burdensāregrets, pain, and the constant battle to find a place in a world that sees us as either weapon or threat.ā They shrugged, gaze cooling as if daring him to contradict them. āI know you know what I mean.ā
Loganās mouth quirked, and he offered a subtle nod. Oh, he knew. He knew that weight, the feeling of being something both feared and useful, but he also saw how tightly they held onto that defensive edge, like armor too important to set aside. And it made sense. If theyād been through even half of what he had, especially as a woman with power, that sharpness was more than just for showāit was a primal instinct born from necessity.
āSo, you play the part of the predator, huh?ā he asked, his voice casual, almost challenging. āGotta keep everyone on their toes, or they might see more than you want āem to?ā
Their gaze hardened slightly, something flickering before they smoothed it over. āItās survival, hun,ā they replied, tone measured with a hint of sarcasm, the nickname sharp on their lips. Their fingers moved up to toy with the delicate golden chain around their neck, the single white pearl shifting gently between their fingertips. āI wasnāt raised to be anyoneās prey. Iāve always been powerful in a way, even before my true nature revealed itself. Living as a mutant in this world means learning to navigate perceptionsāpeople donāt always take well to what they donāt understand. You know that too. So, yes, most of the time, I have to play the predator. Itās how I keep my place in this society.ā
Their eyes gleamed, that familiar guarded edge slipping back into place, like steel settling into a sheath. āAnd maybe itās the only way I know how.ā
The words settled between them, carrying an honesty that almost surprised him. Beneath the mischief and sharpness, he could see the echoes of past battles that had molded them into someone who walked the line between danger and glamor, between freedom and guarded solitude.
āDoesnāt it get exhausting?ā he asked, tone light but edged enough to make it clear he wasnāt just making conversation. āPlayinā that part all the time, keepinā everyone at armās length?ā
For a split second, something flickered across their faceāan almost imperceptible crackābut they smoothed it over with a cool smile. āItās only exhausting if you donāt know how to handle it,ā they replied, looking down at him with a hint of mockery, as if to suggest he wouldnāt know. Leaning back, they reclaimed control of the moment. āBesides, I didnāt walk this path to blend in with the crowd. The world makes demands. I learned early that if I wanted a future worth having, Iād have to shape it myselfāalone.ā
They straightened with a subtle chime of their bracelets, a glint of pride in their stance, fierce and unyielding, making Loganās respect tick up a notch, teasing Eās hunger with a rich, electric thrill. They felt it brush against their senses, fueling the simmer beneath their calm. For a fleeting moment, their expression softened, indulging in the warmth of his regard. But it didnāt escape him that beneath their carefully crafted faƧade lay a quiet kind of fatigue, a weariness he knew too well. They might be used to the role, but that didnāt mean it didnāt take a toll. With a practiced flick of their eyes, they returned to their cool detachment, meeting his gaze with that same untouchable allure, even as their hunger urged them closer.
Logan shifted, crossing his arms loosely, gaze steady as a teasing smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, his eyes glowing with playful challenge. āSounds to me like someoneās after more than just puttinā on a show.ā
Their smile froze for the briefest moment, a flicker of tension before they rolled their eyes, snapping the mask back into place. āAnd you think you know what Iām after?ā They raised an eyebrow, voice slipping into that smooth, predatory edge that reminded him just how much they hated being readājust like he did.
āMaybe,ā he replied, holding their gaze with that same easy smirk. āSeems like a part of you might want somethinā more. Connections. Someone to reach out to, now and then. Make it feel lessā¦ empty.ā
They scoffed, laughter low and guarded as they leaned in, the slight sound of their bracelets punctuating the motion once more. Their voice dropped to a whisper. āDonāt flatter yourself, Logan,ā they said, eyes glinting with challenge as they inched closer, the whisper turning almost venomous. āI donāt need anybody, pretty boy. Especially not you.ā Both their words and gaze sharpened, a teasing yet defensive spark behind it, though something unspoken lingered there. The faint chime followed their movements, an echo of tension and warning. āYou might think youāve seen through me, but trust me, thereās a lot more here than youāre ready to understand. So, stop digging. You might not like what you find.ā
Loganās smile barely shifted, but he didnāt push further, didnāt try to peel back any more layers. He didnāt need to. Heād seen enough to know that behind the sharp edges and fierce guard, E wasnāt so different from him. And the thing they made him crave these last few weeks might just be the thing theyād craved themselves for a long time.
Silence stretched between them, charged and unbroken, as they sized each other upāE, guarded and fierce behind their confident exterior; Logan, settled and a little more at ease than heād been since they first met.
He chuckled, a low, quiet rumble that broke the silence and hung in the space between them. A confident smile played on his lips, almost as if he were savoring his small victory. āSo,ā he murmured, leaning in. āWe done here, orā¦ you need me for somethinā else?ā His tone carried a hint of something deeper, something suggestive.
They bristled, the calm mask slipping momentarily as irritation flashed in their eyes, but they regained composure, sliding smoothly into a clipped, professional tone. āIf you donāt see any more changes to make, I can take care of the rest. Iāll give you the documents once theyāre finalized.ā
Logan nodded, his gaze steady as he rose from his chair, towering over them for a brief moment. āAlright,ā he said, his voice warm but resolute, like he was sealing an unspoken agreement. āSee you around then.ā
With that, he turned, heading toward the door. And as he left, he took with him the solid rythm of his presence, that subtle weight of connection theyād woven into him over the past couple of weeks. The room felt colder, emptier without it. The quiet settled in, hollow and gnawing, the sharp hunger suddenly surging in as the connection broke, slipping from their grasp like sand between their fingers.
Alone once again, they could almost feel itāan ache beneath the calm exterior, an unsettling reminder of what heād managed to stir to life, only to take it away.
To be continuedā¦

erin!! is there anything you watched this year that really stuck with you? (In a good way :3)
THABK U FOR ASKIMG ME THIS NOW HEHE
I feel like I've forgotten all the films I've seen this year so bear w me š and if I do remember one I'm not sure if I watched it this year š
OK
I'm not sure this would be considered in a good way, but I watched Snatch and it immediately became one of my faves. I think it was more to do with the creative shots and editing of scenes (which I loved) and some of the character's lines, than the actual story, but I remember thinking about it for days on end afterwards. Actually no the story was also a banger too, but I remember thinking 'man there are so many characters in this movie'. I definitely want to rewatch it tho!
I also remember a short clip from the evangelion anime (not the whole show or even episode though help) that i saw on youtube, really resonated w me! It was from the last episodes of the season, where it becomes more philosophical and a bit cooked, and there was dialogue between Shinji, Asuka and Misato - and I felt like i deeply understood what they were talking about!! Anyway this isnt even a movie it was like a 2 minute clip š but! It's made me want to rewatch the eva anime :)
I watched Zoolander for the first time too! It made me realise, how good it is to watch a silly movie that has a plot but, it's just silly. Anyway I was surprised by how much I liked it š©·āØļø
I HOPE THIS WAS ALSO INTERESTING FOR YOU š because I can't really remember what I watched this year (I think i watched most of the star wars movies in the first 6 months and some other stuff but it didnt stick with me yknow) anyways
Thank u sm for the ask btw!!!
#asks#this has made me want to watch more films!!!#esp ones that are Interesting#and not part of the hollywood blockbuster group#i rewatched eeao and it is still my fave movie#i think rewatching that stuck w me throughout this year too#i will let u know what i watch next!!! :D#hopefully I'll watch the boy and the heron soon ( i really really want to )

"I wish you were a girl."
#hughlander#at first i thought of hughie saying the first quote but the more i thought about it the more it made sense for it to be john HEAR ME OUT..#he was obviously trained to only enjoy the whole āamerican dreamā so ofc that picture perfect look for him would be a woman next to him#while he himself is a piece of shit and cares only about his image he also just doesnt give a shit#(based on his behavior l8r on in the show) he also just doesnt care what anyone has to say especially since in his eyes he is THE strongest#no one can say anything to him and hes untouchable..which is why his odd obsession with hughie will prove to be zero issue#and while he tries to make a connection with hughie in his own overly possesive way hughie holds himself firm with his actions#(lowkey where things gets ooc oh well idc) homelander does try and make SOME sort of attempt in picking at his brain anf at hughie as to#figure out WHY he even is interested in āthat loserā and in doing so he eventually finds that hughie for whatever stupid reason#notices that he GENUINELY does care about people and that its not some front like he really does and TRY to see some good in people#so john opens up slightly to him about what people at vought did to him as a kid and its those moments where homelander tries to make it-#light buy hughie looks at him and i mean really /looks/ at him and says ājesus thats fucked Im sorryā and john is absolutely dumbfounded#like so dumbfounded and the god honest yet short comment in regards to him opening up about his past#essentially john starts to feel what he always imagined what āfeelingsā are supposed to be and after a long time of him and hughie oddly#finding some sort of āmiddle groundā he tries to pull a move in a moment of odd peace amongst the two and hughie jerks back#john is so confused and i mean REALLY confused#he thought he read all those āsignalsā right based on the romantic films he was forced to watch why is hughie acting like this?#he doesnt want to even think about what this pain in his chest is and all he can ask is āwhy not?ā

3am pacing around the room in a heated debate with myself over which movie should fill the 4th slot on my letterboxd profile
#what autism does to a motherfucker#the first 3 are romeo+juliet 96/to catch a thief/scott pilgrim#rope is a STRONG contender but idk if i can justify 2 hitchcocks out of 4 slots. thatās a bit much#i might even like rope more but to catch a thief is just that important to my identity#2001 aso is also a strong contender as is contact. i havenāt seen either of them too many times but mostly bc i was too blown away#2001 is obviously That Movie but contact made me experience an entire new emotion at like 13#i have not watched it since my dad died and i truly donāt know if i can ever watch it again. god#dead poets is also a legacy choice but like. has it truly earned it. yes it has but STILL#last candidate is portrait of a lady on fire for obvious lesbian reasons#one of the hardest i have ever cried at a film is the last like 3 minutes. deep painful sobbing iām so serious#but again! does a particularly emotional viewing experience necessarily mean it goes in the top 4?#most importantly it does not fucking matter except for i like categorizing and making lists so it matters to me#i think the answer is i have to rewatch all the candidates but the problem is all those films make me so emotional it wipes me out for days#so watching them all is hydrogen bomb (5 fave movies) to coughing baby (me making lists)#ok. ok iām going to try and go to bed now#if u read all of this and want to be letterboxd besties my @ is m_worm#orating!

old man yells at cloud about constant sequels
#i wantttttt to like the beetlejuice sequel (just saw the trailer) and i don't want to be a hater. however#i dont knowwwww i mean theres a lot of callbacks to the original. which is good. its just#maybe its seeing some of these same effects done in cgi. or something#like it just looks like every other modern movie except w some of that beetlejuice imagery#im assuming the sandworms are cgi. bring back the claymationnnn bring back practical effectssss#idk im just really getting to hate the way movies nowadays look that are likely shot digitally and are just so subdued color wise#is any of this making sense.#like thinking of the original beetlejuice like whoa the colors were popping! greens reds purples!#and theyre so important and tied to the look of the movie and how it sticks in your mind#(im sorry. beetlejuice has always been one of my favorite movies. but anyway)#and now the sequel just looks ehhhh. you know#also we still should have had beetlejuice goes hawaiian instead. if we had to have a sequel#plus the story of the sequel seems so dependent on the story of the first movie like is there going to be anything original?#what made the first movie so good was not only was it a fun different storyline of these ghosts and everything#but it was also a good satire of the yuppies of that era as well as the idea of the afterlife and ghosts and all that. which was different!#im probably not making all of my points clearly and this doesnt really matter anyway but anyway#i need movies to be standalone movies. i dont want everything to be part of a series#i dont want beetlejuice to be called beetlejuice 1#bc then ill be saying 'back in my day we had only one beetlejuice'#LIKE. yes some movies are really good and you could watch a whole tv show more with the characters in that movie#but it doesnt actually have to be made. thats for you to imagine in your mind#like wow i love those characters in beetlejuice. i wonder what it would be like going forward for these people to live with ghosts#but thats for you and your imagination!!!! ugh i dont know is any of this making sense i ask again. i keep trying to wrap up this post#but im very passionate about films and as i think about my own main movie idea/screenplay#i love my characters and i could put them in dozens of scenarios that would be very funny for them to deal with#but i dont think they need a five film series. the one movie is enough for the main storyline#ok im going to eat something. enough bitching from me about the current state of film

I want to make a post about how cool an animated SOC would be, but I'm thinking about how that would really resolve the dilemma of an actor through some of Inej's scenes
#Idk like I'm not saying there has to be a detailed rape scene#But still#And I know we have intimacy directors and stuff now#Butttt still#And I'm not saying that All Rape scenes are immoral or anything#And I feel like personally there would be a difference between performing one for a meaningful story and character#Rather than like#The rape scene in The Re/animator which is#Obviously just because the directors wanted to have one#And it's a huge dark mark on an otherwise cult classic#Anyway I recently watched Per/fect Blue#And it's just made me think a lot about it#Just how autonmy in the film industry is more complicated of you are a woman

to every single cast and crew member who conspired and came together to convince Shah Rukh to open his f*cking shirt for that glorious, glorious shot in JJP that is permanently burned into my brain. bc he is a Shy Boi ā¢ and Smol ā¢ and must be coaxed into doing so very carefully or else he will refuse altogether. tysm truly you are out here doing God's work even though they did not ask you to and i am kissing you on your hand on the forehead on the cheek on the mouth with tongue for those of you who are into that sh*t (like me *cough*)
#film: pathaan#pathaan#shah rukh khan#srk#bollywood#local gay watches Bollywood.txt#all the shots of staff holding the end of his green ensemble so he can do pushups and not trip (therefore giving us a glimpse#of waist [!!!] for us to drool over like some repressed Victorians). 10/10#he held himself up by his forearms when rehearsing for the window shot and Deepika was like 'this is an opportunity i cannot miss'#and stood straight between his legs. 10/10#yes i'm going feral over the JJP look(s) again bc YRF made me by posting more BTS footage. what of it#i was going to out myself as a thigh admirer and say something to the effect of the cake is in the legs up in the post#but i decided against it and just kept that in the tags sfjsfdnkjsdnj#look he has abs!!! and thighs!!! we are under full on hoe alert for this look in this house!!!#him complaining over FaceTime to Gauri(? i'm assuming although it could be one of the children) afterwards#'they're making me eat too much and he's [Siddharth] making me take my clothes off' crying#bby if we wanted you naked we'd ask for more than that chest shot OK rn we are settling for what we can get#but seriously tho what mode was his brain on in Besharam Rang and Dard-e-Disco. where was the switch#bc he was completely shirtless in both songs and in BR's BTS i did not see him looking at all shy#then again no one else was really dressed either so he had company??? ig???#idk idk#also Arijit cameo!!! it was only for like a second at the beginning but he is notoriously camera shy so that was a treat#and everyone vibing around the lamppost at the end#i love them so much

against my better i ended up seeing some of the clips people are posting from kfp 4 and i actually really like it
#id have to actually watch the movie to form a proper opinion#but based on what ive seen they made a lot of choices i dont love but i love what they did with the direction they took#and everything they did with the effects on the chameleon are just so cool#i feel like its worth watching based on that alone#and ik a lot of people are not happy about zhen but she actually looks like a pretty interesting character#i wish they had hired someone other than awkwafina to play her but you win some you lose some#all and all it looks like it works well as an epilogue to the original triology#like the trilogy is pos journey with body mind and spirit#and the 4th is what happens after that arc is complete#but i hope they stop the main series after this one#but i would love a furious 5 spinoff movie#or just more short films set in this universe#like secrets of the scroll and secrets of the furious 5#wow the people who make these movies really like the word secret#but yeah i can see why a lot of people feel let down by the movie but from what ive seen it has a lot of merit in its own right#but as i said havent actually watched it yet#so whos to say#ill probably wait until i can rent it or it goes to streaming bc i dont know anyone who would watch it with me who would actually want to#like i have people who would be willing to but i dont think they would actively want to and i dont want my experience watching it to have..#...to be me forcing someone else to watch it with me#and i dont want to go alone bc that would be embarassing#(unless another secret option presents itself before its available to rent or stream#which dreamworks if youre reading this that was totally a joke i would never watch your movies in a way you would not profit from)

just saw a movie and now iām sad that i donāt have anyone to talk to about it ):
i know stopmotion animation isnāt really the most popular nowadays, especially when it comes from a portuguese studio and not a more well-known one like laika or something... but i think thatās precisely why these kinds of films deserve to get more recognition
#marry talks#personal#the film is called My Grandfather's Demons btw#it's the first portuguese stopmotion film. and a really great one imo#tbh i didn't really know what to expect going into it#i knew the premise... more or less#but i honestly wasn't really expecting to like it as much as i did#the start of the movie is a bit slow imo#but that's not really a bad thing#the movie has a really... grounded feel to it#it also made me more emotional than i expected#despite the fact that i already knew the themes dealt a lot with loss#it also has a very interesting choice of music#it makes sense for the type of story it is#but i guess i'm just so used to foreign movies from big studios that i wasn't really expecting more.. traditional portuguese songs#i also wanted to watch the movie when it premiered here on june 22nd#but then life stuff got in the way#i was lucky enough to get some more free time today so i could finally watch it#anyway sorry for my ramblings#i know this isn't really any interesting to anyone else#but i had to get it off my chest somehow yknow?#if you're somehow reading these tags.. thank you for listening and have a nice day

I donāt think my remake fatigue is only pointed at REvil honestly. itās like everything is a remake or a reboot or whateva
#like I really really loved the remakes we have#3 was the weakest link but it was rlly fun#we havenāt finished 4 yet but I know itās gonna be one of my fav games ever#but#idk it seems like everything has to be a remake or a reboot or a reimagining#thereās always adaptions and stuff and those r cool#this is also my fault for not branching out ironically enough#idk I think a lot of media banks on nostalgia not that itās a bad thing#but like do sumn new#itās like how Iām not burnt out in superheroes I love superheroes#Iām burnt out on big budget mcu films#I loveeed the Batman and it rlly felt the most accurate on screen batman ever so itās clearly not just about originality#idk#I want to consume less media but as an artist I need to#witch hat atelier felt like. idk it made me feel like a kid again#itās weird I can watch shows over and over again. but I think Iām growing out of that now#maybe itās just a byproduct of getting older#or maybe itās just my depression#yknow that guy was right. I do talk more clearer in my tags#I spose thatās something I oughta work on
