Hi!!Can I get a match up for Run with the Wind for sure & also chose KNB or HQ!! along with it (whichever you’re feeling that day haha)?I’m a ENFJ who’s a short gay boy. I’m a Virgo who’s a hard worker (most my classes are honors/AP) but also procrastinate. People tell me I have a very calm & trusting vibe so people always come to me when they need help or have a secret. [PT 1]
I enjoy writing & traveling. I’m pretty dorky & nerdy as in I love learning random new things & am involved with my school’s mock government & model un programs. People also say I’m very funny & I highly enjoy memes & am overall very witty. I suffer from ocd, depression, & anxiety but do what I can to be my best. [PT 2]
And last part, enjoy affection (especially cuddling). I’m a very supportive person & love being my friend’s hype man. Oh & I love Disney movies & Bruno Mars lmao. If you need more, just message me (I hope I covered everything lol). Thank you so much!! I’m so excited!! I hope you have a wonderful day love!!!

I match you up with
Yukihiko Iwakura:
Both you and Yuki would be a perfect match if I’m being completely honest. Your personalities match rather well since I think Yuki would be an ENFJ as well. Your leader type personalities helps motivate and encourage one another in your studies/activities, as well as in bettering yourselves as people. With both your analytical and passionate natures, you both can easily pinpoint or tell when the other’s mood changes (whether that positively or negatively) and you both are able to act accordingly, sharing the other’s enjoyment and happiness or being there for the other when one of you in feeling down.
Trust is rather important to Yuki since he isn’t able to open up to people as easily as one would hope. Knowing that you are a very trusting person would make Yuki feel a lot more comfortable around you, though it will still take some time for him to reveal facts and secrets about himself (but just know that you will always be the first person he tells). When Yuki fully trusts you to be able to confide in you when he needs to vent is a rather huge milestone for him. He is usually the type to let things well inside himself and ignore people’s offers for help, but once he finally finds a mutual form of security with a person (aka, you), he is able to drop his walls and guards to be vulnerable with you.
As much as he’d tease you for it, Yuki loves your dorky and goofy side. Seeing you smile when you’re reading a good book, or excitedly typing away at your computer when a new idea comes to your head makes Yuki smile. He likes that sort of thing in people; letting their quirks run wild without any fear of being judged. Being near you when you are doing either of these things sets his heart and mind at ease and he will often ask questions about what you are writing or reading because he wants to let you know that he is interested in your hobbies. Honestly, chances are that you’ll get him hooked on to a certain topic and he will end up helping you with research and typing the findings up alongside you.
Don’t get me started on memes. Yuki is the king of wholesome memes and often sends you some throughout the day. He’s not sure why, but wholesome memes tickle his fancy quite nicely and give him a clean sort of amusement so it’s only natural that he sends them to you so that you can feel the same. But if you send him a meme thats on the edgier or more nerdy side, you can bet that you will hear the ugliest laugh ever from him.
Affection is something Yuki isn’t exactly used to but it is something that he craves. I wouldn’t exactly call it being touch starved but every once in a while he will find himself daydreaming about what it would be like with you in his arms, simply cuddling as you guys spend the day in bed. He’ll never turn down your advances of affection but please know that if you do more than just hold his hand or put your arm around his, he will get pretty flustered and push you away a bit. It’s not that he doesn’t want the affection, but it’s just really embarrassing and quite new for him.
Strong points:
Your overall compatibility makes it less likely for you two to have heated arguments that can cause damage to your relationship.
You both are a good support and encouraging system for the other.
Your level of understanding for each of your struggles and difficulties with life as well as just for each other.
Hardly any jealous comes from either of you since you both trust one another deeply.
Weak points:
The only thing I see being a weak point in your relationship is Yuki’s need to be right. Even though it doesn’t happen often, you both will have small arguments that go on for a little too long due to Yuki needing to prove that he is right.
Hyuuga Junpei:
You and Hyuuga would also be a very good match due to the similarities in your personalities, but that isn’t the main reason you two work so well together. It’s the differences in your personalities that make your bond with him grow stronger. By nature, Hyuuga is a rather uptight kind of guy despite his goofier moments. He is a third year as well as the captain of an entire basketball team, so there is a lot of responsibility on his shoulders that makes him more serious than playful. With you by his side, your rather playful and calmer personality mixes well with his serious and intense one. You both bring different aspects of life to one another, in turn bringing you closer and closer as you both progress in your relationship.
Much like Yuki, Hyuuga loves that he can confide in you without fear of judgement. Despite seeming rather strong in his position as captain for his team, he is still rather insecure. He sometimes has doubts if he is the perfect one for the position, if he is doing right by his team, and being the captain that they need. Knowing that he has you to listen to his doubts and worries and give him feedback is reassuring for him. All his secret insecurities and wishes and hopes and dreams are all safe with you and he loves that you’re so supportive of him and uplighting.
I don’t care what anyone says, Hyuuga loves Disney and Dreamworks movies and knowing that you love them as well makes him fall so much harder for you. Often times on the weekends he will invite you over to his house to have marathons of different Disney and Dreamworks movies. He’ll have you cuddled up in his arms, a few snacks here and there, A/C blasting and singing along to the songs within each movie. But, please know that he does get emotional when watching certain movies (totally not the Lion King whaaat) and it’s best not to bring it up lest you want him to cry more.
He too is a dork so you both have that in common. He collects warlord figures and watches Japanese history documentaries in his free time. He’s as nerdy as they get and he loves that he can nerd out with you about it or similar topics that interest you both. He loves how invested you get in discussions and how you love to write and travel. If you are far along in your relationship with him, he will want to take you traveling to different (historical) parts of the world so you both can learn new things together. He’d love it if you wrote about different facts and worked with him to create a timeline of all the places you been to and the facts you’ve learned so that he can read it once it’s finished.
He will always be there to help you through your OCD, depression, and anxiety. You’ll come to find that Hyuuga becomes a major part in your methods to relax and calm down from your funks. You both have created a system that helps you calm your nerves that involves a lot of sweet talks, soft cuddling or some form of close holding, and a calming area. His favorite place to console you is usually in his room where he has an abundance of candles that he’ll light to fill his room with a calming and warm ambiance to help soothe you.
Strong points:
Your personalities - despite their differences - work really well together making for a sound relationship.
You both give each other mutual love, support, and trust. There is hardly a moment in which you both feel as though you aren’t being loved enough by the other.
Similar interests makes it rather easy to plan dates and do things together that you both enjoy. Lots of bonding time, trying new things, and togetherness.
Weak points:
He has a tendency to get jealous rather often but it’s not because he doesn’t trust you. He just doesn’t like that other people are holding too much of your time.
His insecurities sometimes have to do with him not feeling worthy of being with you, so often times he will distance himself from you because he doesn’t want to disappoint you or waste anymore of your time so you’ll have to seek him out and coax him into talking with you which takes a bit of time to do.
Not exactly a major weak point or anything, but you both have different senses of humor which can make it hard to share jokes but you still laugh at similar things.

Manny The Uncanny Oral History Transcript
00:07 Speaker 1: When you're a kid, there's a few television moments that make you say, "What the hell was that?" Those shocking moments in which you're exposed to something wholly different than you've ever experienced. This doesn't occur often because most television shows created for kids are trying to replicate what has already worked in the past. It's why after a juggernaut like Ninja Turtles you get Biker Mice from Mars, Street Sharks and Moo Mesa. Children's television breaks with the old adage, "everything old is new again". Instead it's everything new is new again. In addition as a child, you are limited in what you can see. Your movies generally go up to PG, PG-13 if your dad was cool or if your older brother was cool, and NC-17 if your grandmother was weird. Profanity, sex, and violence are beyond your cultural scope. Not to mention as a kid you don't have the cultural framework or vocabulary to describe what you've seen. It's a purely internalized experience of the weird. That's why when there's something truly different it's so memorable. In the '90s, Manny the Uncanny definitely falls within this distinguished, "what the hell" category. Not only because he's weird; he certainly is, but because this...
01:21 Speaker 2: Why don't you go talk to the head potty guy? Come on! And Mr. Jim Langely, the head potty guy, is going to be telling us all about what happens with our potty bits. Tell me about potty bits.
01:32 Speaker 3: Potty bits?
01:33 Speaker 2: Potty bits.
01:33 Speaker 3: Potty bits.
01:34 Speaker 2: Grandma's trousers!
01:38 Speaker 1: Was on a Disney-branded Saturday morning. It begs repeating, What the hell? This character creation comes from the brilliantly deranged mind of Paul Rugg, and he spent the majority of his adult life making your childhood strange. But first a little history. Steven Spielberg has made several attempts to be Walt Disney. There was An American Tail, which eventually launched his own animation company Amblimation. There was Roger Rabbit and the Roger Rabbit shorts. And of course there was his most famous endeavor, DreamWorks. And yes, he's not Walt Disney, but he's damn close. And what puts him even closer to the heights of Walt Disney's pencil thin moustache was his run at Warner Brothers Animation in the '90s.
02:24 Speaker 1: It had been 20 years since the studio had created an animated short. The days of Termite Terrace were long gone, and that's where Spielberg saw opportunity. He thought maybe a Looney Tunes movie would work, and was working on one in 1987 about young Tunes learning from the greats at the Acme Academy, but it never panned out. Instead, the movie was put into television development, which was better suited for the wonderful short form zaniness of the Looney Tunes, and thus Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon Adventures was born.
02:55 Speaker 1: The show borrowed the Disney television animation model and infused historically cheap television animation with cash resulting in smoother animation and live orchestration for every show. Before the first episode, $25 million had been spent on Tiny Toons. After all, there was a daunting legacy to live up to, and it did. In its second year it was beating Darkwing Duck, Ninja Turtles, and DuckTales. Buoyed by that initial success, Spielberg and Warner Brothers Animation created the Animaniacs, which gracefully captured the essence of the old Looney Tunes classics, that have long evaded reproductions. Because the classic Looney Tunes shorts are perfection. That's not an exaggeration or an opinion; they are perfect. If you're a non-believer, imagine writing a joke that's still funny 70 years later. Imagine doing animation 70 years ago that is still seen as some of the best to this day, which is why its spirit has been so difficult to recapture. But the Animaniacs are the closest thing to the Looney Tunes since Looney Tunes. An integral part of the team that captured the bygone era was Paul Rugg.
04:02 Paul Rugg: I was in, sort of a offshoot of The Groundlings, called the Acme Theatre, which was founded by some people from the Groundlings. Where the Groundlings was more Hollywood-based, we were more San Fernando Valley-based, just because we were all very lazy and we all live in the San Fernando Valley. I had written some sketches for a show. Sherry Stoner, her partner Mark Sweeney, he was the director, and she started liking my stuff along with John McCann, and she said, "You know, I think you should come and we're developing this show." And I was like, "Oh, okay." And I didn't really know what they were talking about. They sent over a bible, which is everything about the characters, what the characters are. And I think I read that a couple weeks, and so did John McCann. And then we went in to meet Tom Ruegger to just get one script. He sort of told us more about characters, that they were very similar to the Marx Brothers, which is all I really needed to know. Over a week sort of wrote one and then got hired the day I turned it in, and that was it. When I saw that all of the scripts were being sent to Steven and we were waiting for his approval, and then I was like, "Wow, so he's gonna read these, huh?"
05:15 Paul Rugg: When they started doing the auditions, backgrounds, he was... We're always pending Steven's approval, so after a time I was like, well, he really does read this stuff, and he looks at this stuff and he listens to the record. And then I'd written something that never actually made it, but he sent me a memo saying, "That was really funny," so I was like, "Wow, he really is reading this stuff! My gosh, this guy really is involved". We really were writing for ourselves, and luckily he sort of liked that style. We never wrote for him, or oh, he likes this or he likes that, we were just doing what we thought was funny. And luckily he was liking it.
06:01 Paul Rugg: Once or twice, I think I might have written a joke and Tom Ruegger would say, "There's no way a kid's gonna know what that means," and I remember changing it. But maybe that happened twice out of all the scripts that I wrote. So, no, we never really thought about kids. We always wanted to keep it clean, but I can't remember ever catering a joke or a line or any of the ideas for a kid. I remember we did a parody of... Not of Apocalypse Now, but the documentary that Coppola's wife made about his making of Apocalypse Now, which is so totally obscure, and it was like, yeah, make that. So [laughter] I don't think... If we were really writing for kids, we never would have done that.
06:47 Speaker 1: Then there was Freakazoid! Which Paul voiced, wrote, and eventually produced. Freakazoid! Came along during two major changes, Time Warner would create The WB, and the Warner Brothers Animation shows would be transferred from Fox Kids to the new network. And the second, Spielberg made his final attempt to become Uncle Walt.
07:07 Paul Rugg: They were developing Freakazoid! For Steven. It was Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, and Steven wanted to take a really quirky turn and make it more very, very comedy-based. Tom Ruegger took over, and then he took John McCann and I off of Animaniacs and said, "You know, you really gotta help me, this show airs in like eight months, we don't have anything." By that time, I of felt that I had written as much as I could about Animaniacs, and as much as I loved the character I was looking for something new to do, so it was perfect.
07:38 Paul Rugg: The WB just didn't like it at all. I just don't think they liked it, which was a shame because we were having a great time with it, and Steven was really having a good time with it. We would send him a script, he goes, "This is crazy, I can't believe you guys are doing this, this is nuts". So we were all just loving it. But the WB was trying to think about... Well, in the second season, they asked us to do half hour stories in the hopes that it wouldn't be so bizarre. All that really did was [chuckle] give us a license to do more bizarre long-form stuff. Yeah, I don't think they were delighted with what we were doing.
08:20 Paul Rugg: Our demographics were coming in. Well, they weren't coming in right at the sweet spot that they want, we were really appealing to an older group, more high school, college, and some very intelligent younger children. Well, I don't wanna say The WB changed everything, but it did change everything. I think The WB in and of itself was sort of the demise of Warner Brothers Animation as we knew it then. They had a definite agenda, and that was to compete in this broader field of children's television. And they had a certain idea about what that should be. Well, they wanted Pokemon, they wanted... Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was doing really well, they wanted stuff that wasn't what necessarily we were doing. They wanted hits. While I think Warner Brothers Animation was doing very well, you know Animaniacs was doing well, they didn't care what it was, they wanted big hits. And well Freakazoid! , while it was doing really well with the critics and Steven was happy, it didn't fit in their wheelhouse.
09:34 Paul Rugg: They didn't really understand what they had. They had Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, they had the golden chest, in my opinion. And then they had the Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. I don't think they ever really truly understood what they had. The way Disney sort of takes care of their characters... I think for reasons that I've never really understood, I think that they didn't really understand the characters. And therefore you got things like Space Jam, which you might like Space Jam, but it was... I remember we all watching and we're like, "Oh my gosh, what are they thinking?"
10:12 Paul Rugg: When he formed DreamWorks, we still had, I think, some Freakazoids left to do, Animaniacs left to do, but we knew that, that sort of partnership was over. And then there was a lot of talk about us all maybe moving over. I think we all got interviews at DreamWorks when they were just starting it, we all went over there and had a meeting. And then some of us decided to go, some of us decided to stay. I was one who decided to stay because I really liked working for Ruegger, I really liked working for Jean MacCurdy. As far as bosses go, they didn't get any better.
10:54 Paul Rugg: We used to work at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, and there was this fountain where we would all... We would go down from the lobby and sit and talk, and I remember sitting there and somebody came up and said, "Hey, Steven's starting this big new thing." And we all went upstairs, and I don't think there was the internet then, but somebody got a copy of Variety and we read it. We're like, "Wow, this is big." And I think... As I recall, we were still doing the first season of Freakazoid! So I started putting that in some of the Freakazoid! Scripts, there's a Lord Bravery script that mentions DreamWorks. And in typical Warner Brothers fashion, we made fun of it because that was our job, so. Nobody was scared, I don't remember being scared because I remember we were really happy working at Warner Brothers and we really liked the anarchy there, but I think maybe people were ready to move on, to try different things.
11:53 Speaker 1: Peter Hastings was a writer who had his fingerprints all over Warner Brothers television animation. And this resume led to Disney putting him in charge of creating the vibe of Disney's, One Saturday Morning. He based the program around Bob McAllister's '70s kids show, Wonderama and Late Night with David Letterman. The colors were bright, the jokes were fast. And if you were wondering if an elephant could crush a blueberry pie with its foot, you could find out here. And within this wonderland train station was a man, a beacon of weirdness, an 11 on the dial, if you will. Manny the Uncanny.
12:32 Speaker 2: How's it going? I'm Manny the Uncanny today with the US Mint in Philadelphia to see how they make the coins. Come inside and don't be lazy. How does, how does, how does it... This is the build, large epoxy quarter. Here it is. This is touching, feelings. It transfered here, into this machine which is drilling it in there. It goes from shrunk down to this, which will make our coin.
12:53 Speaker 5: That's exactly correct.
12:54 Speaker 2: Wow, you learn... So much. Does Amos make you nervous? Okay Tim, now you're... Hey, I'm Manny the Uncanny. Do you ever wonder where all of your potty bits go when you flush them down? It comes here to the sewage treatment plant. Let's go talk to the head potty guy. Come in. Hey, hi there and all of that, this stuff. I'm Manny the Uncanny and today I am at the Bazooka Joe where... Sorry, Joe Blasco Cosmetics where we're going to learn about the make-ups. But not the make-ups for going to market or going to the fishing store, it's the makeup of scariness to be in the movie. So I tell you what, let's...
13:37 Speaker 1: Manny is delivered to each destination by a hot air balloon man, known as Mr. Lighter Than Air. He's suspended below the man's belly by cords that are similar to a baby's jumper. His glasses are thick, his suit God-awful plaid and he looks like a cartoon exiting a dynamite explosion. He's of course not the first bizarre children's TV show host. In fact, Linda Ellerbee and LeVar Burton come to mind as the only normality within this group. At the top of the list is of course, Pee-wee Herman. The voice, the suit, the bike. Strangely enough, his world is so off-kilter that Pee-wee, despite the odds, is the straight man in many of his scenes. A weirdo pointing to bigger weirdos and saying, "Isn't that weird?" In fact, Pee-wee Herman loves who he is and goes home to his amazing house filled with warmth and friends. He's undeniably happy. Manny, on the other hand, is desperately trying to relate in man-on-the-street segments with real people while having a complete inability to do so and lack of understanding of how to do it.
14:40 Speaker 1: And you can't imagine Manny going home to a magical talking chair. Instead his one counterpart is a mechanized cat puppet which you know Manny controls and voices. There's no magic, just desperation and loneliness. Because even though the shows are titled, "Manny Goes to the Mint" and "Manny at the United Nations", they might as well be titled, "Manny tries to make a friend." It's tragic comedy. This isn't Greek by any standard, but there is something incredibly human about this fictional farce that comes from Paul Ruggs's performance, which is real and grounded. But he's playing off the wall insanity.
15:20 Paul Rugg: Because we knew that Freakazoid! Was cancelled. So myself, and John McCann and Doug Langdale were developing a Daffy Duck show based loosely on the Larry Sanders Show where Daffy had his own extravaganza sort of like the old Carol Burnett Show. And it was sort of behind the scenes and in front of the scenes, and then it was clear that the WBJB counter didn't really want anything like that so that's when I decided to leave Warner Brothers. I had shot a couple of things for Peter Hastings who was... Who really wanted me to do Manny the Uncanny for One Saturday Mornings. Manny developed out of a thing I had been doing at Acme. He was this sort of washed up, cruise ship entertainer, he was the worst magician ever. So that's what I would sort of do on stage. And Peter always liked it, and I sort of always liked it, and the audiences always liked it. Which is why [laughter] I was more surprised than anyone that give me... Sort of said we should do it there but that's all Peter.
16:21 Paul Rugg: I mean Peter wanted to have fun, that sort of goes back to what we learned at Warner Brothers. If we think it's fun, hopefully it'll be fun. And then he said, "Well, maybe Manny should just go out and sort of meet people." a la Cole Huaser who was sort of a very famous guy on public television here who used to go out and visit with various people in the LA community. He would go to a bagel maker and spend time with the bagel makers. And we said, "Well let's do the same things." So Manny's segments basically became, where are the really weird places that we can go where Manny can be the world's worst interviewer. So he took a camera while I was working at Warner Brothers and decided to film some stuff of me doing Manny. I guess they really liked that. And I was writing the Daffy show when he asked me to come actually be Manny for the wrap arounds that they were doing, the on set, the whole digital set they had created. So I took two weeks off of Warner Brothers and filmed that. And then, came back to Warner Brothers. And then, I left Warner Brothers because they didn't pick up Daffy. And he called and just wanted to know if I wanted to come be a part of it.
17:38 Paul Rugg: I helped him pitch it. I remember sitting in front of the executives [chuckle] who were sort of horrified because I had dressed up in my whole Manny costume and I was, I was sort of doing my whole Manny act for them. And I don't remember them being very enthused that there was this really weird guy with funny hair in front of them, but. Which was, [laughter] which was kind of funny, but. They were liking it but they didn't wanna be a part of the Act, meaning, executives are very funny, they're like, "Great we like it, just don't put us in the position of having to sit there and be a part of this", they were just more like, "Don't look me in the eye, stop it" and so we was like, I think that day Peter and I learned a very valuable lesson. Never go pitch and sort of make those people you're pitching to part of the act. Because Manny was very abrasive he was very silly and I remember literally picking out people who we're pitching to and these are the big, big wigs and I'm insulting them and they were smiling but you could tell they wanted it to end like now.
18:51 Paul Rugg: Peter and I were having a great time I think we just did the whole thing, we were just having a blast we heard later that you probably shouldn't do that, but then we were Walt... Warners and we were more pushing the boundaries having some fun. Because I helped Tom Ruegger do the same thing at Warner Brothers when he was pitching Hysteria and he had me come as Nostradamus and do my whole act in front of the president of Warner Brothers and they were all very happy about it. So it's just a different culture at Disney it's a little more... I found it to be a little bit tightly wound, let's just say, and the Warner Brothers vibe was a little bit more it wasn't that I had never worked at Disney and so, and I was so stuck in that Warner Brothers we can do anything it never occurred to me that they wouldn't like it. So I was never surprised that we were getting away with it 'cause I didn't know that we were getting away with anything if that makes sense. I didn't know sort of what I know about Disney which is a fine company and stuff but they are definitely hands on and they want it done as a certain way, but back then I don't really remember knowing that.
20:09 Paul Rugg: Well after I left Warner brothers and did other things, I went back in for a meeting once when all of the people that I had sort of known were gone and it felt like walking into Disney and I remember going that's a shame. Because I think it was a very specific time a group of people got together and were just having a great time doing what they were doing. Manny works in very minimal doses. Anything beyond five minutes you sort of are like okay he's really beginning to annoy me which I love but no, we really didn't get any notes the biggest shout was stop screaming and that was it.
20:54 Paul Rugg: 'Cause Manny is very energetic and very sort of excitable and that is where I would play it on stage but when you put a camera like two inch in front of him it basically looks like he's gone insane. So we sort of modified him a bit and I wasn't quite sure how the bits were gonna cut together but we really lucked out and the first editor whoever took a crack at sort of putting the Manny's together was the lead editor on Waiting for Guffman and he was sort of in between gigs he just got this footage together in a way that was so surprising and fun that it really set the tone for all future editing then he eventually got busy and had to move on but we decided to sort of copy his style which was making the editing even more bizarre and it really worked. Peter Hastings and I came up with at Warner brothers and I have no idea why I think we were in the elevator, once and doing weird voices or doing something we came up with it's true.
22:00 Paul Rugg: And I have no idea where it comes from but I remember we just started giggling and then when he came in to say we need Manny song for his intro. I remember we wrote that in about 30 seconds, because we realized Manny didn't make sense so I remember, I just went into his office he goes, "I need this now". And we went in there we recorded it and that was it. I think we recorded at once it was just dumb and it made no sense, and It made us laugh and we're like okay we got that.
22:28 Speaker 2: Where are we going today miss Mr. Lighter than Air?
22:34 Speaker 6: Well, Manny some place wonderful.
22:40 Speaker 2: Hi there oh and happy days let's have some fun. And not be lazy it's true.
22:46 Paul Rugg: Yeah, I was trying to think about how Manny would get around and it just made me laugh my friend Mark Dropman was super, super, super funny guy I said I have this idea what do you think he goes, "That sounds great", so yeah, we filmed it I don't think we could get away with that now, but gosh it made us all laugh and I remember being in that harness and I think a couple of the execs might have come in and go, "Why are you in a harness?", I go, "Well I'm floating below Mr. Lighter than air." And they're like, "What the heck is that?"and I'm like, "Oh, never mind I think I've said too much already". So I don't think we would have the same budget today. We had this great makeup person and she always wanted to get Manny's hair perfect. So I think we went through literally 10 gallons of hair spray and she would sit and work on his hair and I remember that being like, Wow, I never thought anyone would be working on my hair. I remember they had been shooting a lot. They only needed me for a little bit. I came in one day and they said, "Stand here", and I was doing obviously my Manny thing very broad, very big, and the elephant wasn't liking it and they told me to not move so much 'cause the elephant was freaking out.
24:05 Paul Rugg: The trainer came over and said, "Really this elephant is about to kill you, so... " So, I might have changed a little bit. Maybe if you see it now because I hadn't seen if for years. But maybe you'll notice a very rather muted Manny who doesn't wanna get trampled by a very large elephant. I think maybe they separated me from the elephant at one point, but the elephant didn't like men. People, depending on who they were when they sort of saw what we were doing and how we were conducting the interview. And then was just all a bunch of fun, they really got into the fun. Some places didn't really like it. There was a... I remember we did something for the Egg Board of California. And we got... I think I got five minutes in to the interview, and they thought we were making fun of them and kicked us out. So, they literally put their hands in the in front of the camera and told us to leave because they thought... I don't know who they thought we were, but then as I just started airing, people were like, "Yeah yeah, you can come and do that." They saw that we were just having fun. But yeah, some people didn't really like it.
25:25 Speaker 1: Despite the Egg Board, most people seem to be enjoying themselves. They're in on the joke, which eliminates any cynicism. And they're as nice as they can be to Manny. It reaffirms acts of charity that deep down all people are good, or maybe they just wanna be on TV. Either way, it humanizes them. Likewise Manny never gets the best of someone. The ordinary people constantly try to help him understand. In the same way they would help an over-questioning kid understand. It's actually kinda sweet. The guy who is in charge of the State Quarters, or any of the knights at medieval times are for once, cooler than the TV personality, with Letterman, Conan, and Leno, that's never the case. Those are smart asses picking on the defenseless. While Manny is less than defenseless. It's this dynamic that provokes the wonderful moments in the sketches. In which an ordinary person who probably thought they had a lame job smiles. And it reads on their face "Yeah, I guess my job is pretty cool after all". As for Manny, there's a respite for the strange ones. In spite of everything, the security guard that Manny once feared... Well, see for yourself.
26:35 Speaker 2: Thank you very much. It's been a great pleasure. You wanna go get a soda or something?
26:44 Speaker 7: Sure.
26:46 Speaker 1: In that moment, there's hope for anybody weird, awkward, to meet at least somebody for a soda. Make sure to check out Paul Rugg's Freakazoid! Celebration Freak-A-Con on March 15th on Facebook Live.

Let’s Talk About Shark Tale
I’ve been doing a bit of a spring-cleaning on animated movies, to see which ones of the more recent releases I haven’t seen yet and when doing so, I noticed this old thing. DreamWorks. 2004. Haven’t seen it since its release back in the day. Genuinely did not remember it. And I remember the plot of every animated movie I’ve ever seen, which is a total of about 300 by now. So it was a bit... confusing for me, to see this movie that I don’t seem to remember at all.
Which means I rewatched it.
For fuck’s sake, this movie did not age well. I mean, it was obviously not good the first time around, or otherwise I’d remember it, but good gods, this has not aged well at all.
Also, seeing it in English... explains a lot. I think many of the things they were doing just completely went over 13-year-old Phoe’s head back in the day, because dubbed and also me generally not caring too much about American culture.
But. Wow. Those are some seriously heavy stereotypes and it is... very cringeworthy for the most part. Like. All the parts.
How does the sushi-chef fish look Japanese. It’s a fish. (Not to mention the whole... cannibalism.)
And damn does Will Smith play Oscar very... black. Not exactly in a good way, but in a parodic way. Like. The way white people in the 90s would have made the black guy look. But... how did this happen, Will?
And then there’s the Jamaican jellyfishes and I’m not even going to... *shakes head*
And of course were the evil bad sharks Italian and Really Very Mafia. Of course.
It doubles down hard on stereotypes in a very... disturbing to watch way.
And then there’s the sexualization of fishes.
Not just the part where all the boy fishes have boy-colors and all the girl fishes have girl colors, but the part where Lola has essentially boobs, Angelina Jolie lips and... hair. The way her ““fin”” looks is mighty impractical and unrealistic and dumb. Because the fishes don’t need hair. Really not.
And the humor.
The humor is so bad.
You... You have Jack Black and Will Smith in your movie and yet somehow you managed to double down on cringeworthy with not just the racial stereotyping of fish, but also the humor...? Really? How is that even possible...?
Its “witty” one-liners that often fall flat. Or are over the top.
Potty humor. Of course. A shark farting and making an orca faint with the smell. Ha... ha.. ha.
The death scene? Seriously? Lenny’s brother is dying and you use it as comic relief? That is just so misplaced. It wasn’t a fake-out where he survived in the end, he actually died and you tried to make it into a comic-relief moment...
And the funeral. You... You had a corpse floating up and away from the funeral. Because it’s under sea, get it, haha... ha...
And then there was that domestic abuse joke! When Lola literally beats the crap out of Oscar in public and the fishes seeing it start laughing because “Young love!”.
There’s kind of a gay joke too. The shark who “isn’t like other sharks” and has a “big coming out” about being vegetarian and dresses as a dolphin - you know, because all dolphins are gay sharks *wink wink* - and it’s kind of weird.
The racial meta joke. When the Will Smith character is trying to get a proper bro-fist from his boss and then comments that “many white fish can’t do it”. That doesn’t even work. If the other fish were white - you know, the actual color white, because fishes come in various colors - then you could have had a semi-clever meta-joke, because get it, he’s white, but his voice-actor is also white. Instead, he does it with a brownish-beige fish and... it makes no sense in the universe.
I mean, I generally don’t get why fish-movies are A Thing, because fishes are... not... interesting or cute. I’m guessing it’s because it’s fun to animate the underwater world, or something, but good lords, fish movies are the worst.
And if that fish-movie is trying very forcibly to mirror human society, that’s... sort of doomed to fail.
Especially if it’s not even trying to make sense of the world its building. Somehow... microphones work under the sea? They have lava lamps and electric bill-boards? How?
I like when a sub-society of animals is being clever. If they build human-esque societies with the things that actually exist in their own surroundings. This just... took human things and slapped fish things on them. The Walk of Fame with star-fishes and fish-puns on the stars. Coral Cola. Never mind how the fishes even drink anything, because another joke in the movie is that the tea just washes away when the octopus is trying to pour it.
And... the main love-story. It’s the kind of love-story I might just hate the most. Even more than the stereotypical “childhood friends to lovers”. Then again, this movie DOES use the “one party is super pining for the other who is Totally Oblivious To It and urgh isn’t being Friendzoned THE worst, am I right, fellas?”-trope and couples it with the worst part of “childhood friends to lovers”, namely the “they haven’t said a word about their feelings ever but now that the party they’re pining after has A Love Interest, now they can angrily declare their love like somehow it’s the other party’s fault for not reading minds??”. No. The trope I actually hate even more than that is when the Good Kind Character is paired up with the womanizer badboy who is an egoistic asshat, but the asshat realizes that He Can Change in the end and they Live Happily Ever After. I absolute loathe that because the Good Kind Character deserves better and people don’t just make a 180° over night.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing about this movie has aged well.
Not the pop-culture referrences that were kind of outdated back when the movie came out.
Not the over-the-top racial stereotyping of fish.
Not the sexualization of fishes to make sure the viewer knows that This Is A Girl Fish.
Not the bad humor.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing and I now know why my brain opted to just delete the experience of having watched this movie. I hope it does that again.

Archive Project - March 12, 2014 - Mr. Peobody and Sherman Review
For the past couple of Animated Features i've seen in theaters there has been a trailer for this "thing" called Box Trolls. This movie is apparently being made by the production house behind Coraline and ParaNorman. That fact alone, more than the trailer itself, makes me want to go see this movie. Whoever these "Laika" people are they are insanely talented with stop-motion animated. The insane level of detail that goes into their movies is terrifying to comprehend. So with that in mind, the philosophy for trying to sell this movie to audiences was to apparently show the movie's production… instead of the plot or characters. They just released a second trailer for this too… and this one also doesn't tell us anything about the box or characters. It works almost as a before and after shot. All the cool things they bragged about in the last trailer are shown in full force and it LOOKS good. It strikes me that there is a lack of confidence that people would be interested in the story they have to tell given how odd it looks. This assumption wouldn't be too out there as ParaNorman didn't actually do well when it was released, sadly. Maybe i'm wrong, heck I want to go see the movie cause I know it's full of a lot of talent. Who knows… ONTO THE REVEIW!!! ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Mr. Peabody and Sherman, 2014. Rob Minkoff 92 Minutes Watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMl2tTVwsZA ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Famed animator Jay Ward is a critical figure in the history of cartoon animation. His work in the 60s brought forth a lot of major television cartoons and helped bring animation, which had previously largely been reserved to theaters due to it's high production costs, into the homes of everyday people. His work during this time comprises a list of some of animation's deepest roots: Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do Right, Fractured Fairytales and of course Peabody's Improbable History. In the latter of the list: Mr. Peabody is the world's most intelligent dog. He adopts a human boy in a witty role reversal of the common "Boy and His Dog" trope and then uses his intellect to build a time machine known as the WABAC machine to give as a gift to his boy, Sherman. Peabody's Improbable History was usually incorporated into Jay Ward's Rocky and His Friends, a half hour collection of animations from his catalog that ran into the mid-1960s which was later renamed The Bullwinkle Show. Peabody's Improbable History died with Rocky and Bullwinkle and was never successfully revived. Flash forward to the 2010s. Director Rob Minkoff, famed for his masterpiece The Lion King, decides he wants to do a passion project for one of his inspirational childhood cartoons. He manages to get the rights, the funding and does it. The result is an updated version of Peabody's Improbable History, titled Mr. Peabody and Sherman. I will give this movie credit where it was due. I went into the movie expecting it to be bad. The trailers didn't impress me at all and I wasn't excited to see one of the cartoons I loved as a child repurposed into disposable children's entertainment. Upon seeing it I can now say this: Mr. Peabody and Sherman was not as bad as I was assuming it was going to be. It however isn't a great, lasting or even very memorable film though. Its just really dull and inconsistent. One of my biggest fears going into the film was that the characters were going to get butchered and made stupid. Mr. Peabody sounded ultimately dumb as a character in the way he was described and Sherman looked like an idiot, hyper active kid with ADHD and voiced by a terrible child actor. Surprisingly most of those things never FULLY came into fruition. I mean you can definitely tell Sherman is played by a kid who has never voice acted before but the things that would have bothered me weren't sharp enough to bother me. The opening scenes of the film play out as a… oddly morbid and dark, but clear homage to the original episode of Peabody's Improbable History with a lot of the same story beats being reenacted into horrible 3rd dimensional animation (i'll get back to that..). Even some of the cinematography is meant to evoke the original show which is facisnating to behold. This strikes me as a reassuring pat on the back to fans that the people behind this did their homework and care enough to try to make this for fans, by fans. Which I would appreciate, if I considered this film to be anything special Something that really bothers me though is the way the story plays out. There are a lot of plot threads that pop up that don't make any sense in the context of the movie. For example, it's implied throughout the movie that Peabody and Sherman as going through effectively, daddy issues given that Peabody can't admit he loves his Sherman and such. But that defeats the entire purpose of why Peabody adopted Sherman in the first place; he did it so that he could give Sherman the love and support he never got as a child. From the way they interact in the first scenes and throughout the movie, its clear that they have a healthy relationship with each other. Peabody takes care of Sherman, provides him with everything he can and teaches him everything he can. What is the point of sticking daddy issues into the mix? Especially when another story plot deals with Peabody having to prove to the government that he is a good father figure, which by rights he already appears to be. The ONLY evidence that Peabody might be a bad father is that Sherman bits a kid a school for picking on him which is implied to be somewhat justified…? It just feels like outside of the main story involving time travel, all of the treads are messy and inconsistent. Also they try to evoke parallels Doctor Who by making the WABAC perform and evoke visual similarities to a TARDIS… Who wants to be original with time travel when they could just invoke pop culture imagery more for less effort? Also the logic behind the time travel doesn't make any sense.. It didn't in the original show either but that was part of the joke. I must also complain about he sound design in this. It was horrible… Theres a scene early on in which Peabody and Sherman are riding on top of a wave down a sewer and the sound effects, other than being much quieter than they should have been, sounded like they were panning wave sounds up and down. It sounded cheap and didn't evoke what should have been the appropriate sounds for this scene. Overall, three works really strike me about this movie. Those words are: "Missing The Point". Peabody's Improbable History was a fun show, not because it was well animated or slick, but because it was well written. The people who made this show had limited time and money to make these cartoons and couldn't afford the same animation houses that made classics like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes. They had to compensate for that by making the writing pick up the slack for everything else. It had to be fun and witty and it succeeded in doing so. Peabody's Improbable History was intelligent and was meant to teach kids about history in silly ways. Mr. Peabody and Sherman doesn't teach kids very much, other than a historically inaccurate retelling to the French Revolution. This movie has it way too easy. With the ease of computers nowadays entire animated movies can be made quickly and cheaply. Thats why so many 3D animated movies are awful nowadays. 2D animations and shop motion ones take a lot more work and have a different feel to them. It feels like with those that there are people working on them. When you get a modern 3D animated movie in the hands of people who aren't creative or innovative enough to make something interesting with it like Pixar, Dreamworks or Disney are then the end result is garbage like Ice Age 4 and The Nut Job… I would have at least preferred this movie if the people behind it made it 2D to be more respectful to the source material. Heck, Rob Minkoff made the best 2D animated movie of all time! He could have made something great! Thankfully, Peabody's Improbable History isn't some great thing that needed to be preserved creatively. It wasn't something great like RoboCop or Total Recall that didn't need a reboot. I'd be all for it if Cartoon Network or Nick managed to secure the rights to reboot the Rocky and Bullwinkle show in a new format if the right people were behind it. This movie didn't ruin anything by being dull. Considering some of the other horrible movies based on the Rock and Bullwinkle show that have been released like Rock and Bullwinkle… Dudley Do Right.. and Boris and Natasha… I think I can forgive this film for a lot! My Recommendation: The original episodes are Peabody's Improbable History are still floating around Youtube nowadays. The original 5 minute episode tells the exact same story as the movie. No I don't support internet Piracy, so I wouldn't recommend that you check out the original 5 Minute episode on youtube which can be found in the link below. I would not recommend you click that link and watch it instead of paying to see the movie in theaters. Do so at your own risk! :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owB6zFSZbng ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Mr. Peabody and Sherman is now in theaters. Thank you for reading! Live long and prosper!

[long meta] the hidden depths of voltron S1 E6
part 1: lance’s literal awakening and keith’s metaphorical one
(if you already know where I’m going with this, you might find part 2: an entire subtextual plot in S1 E6? - in this same post - more interesting)
I’ve been rewatching season 1, and I got to episode 5 with the bonding moment and was like yeahh but then I got to the beginning of E6, with everyone waiting for lance to be released from the healing pod, and I was like wait. I never really thought twice about the scene before, but this time around I was like...hold the phone.
what is keith’s reasoning for being impatient in this scene, anyway? like, if everyone else can wait a few ticks for lance to wake up, why can’t you?
is this just your Personality, to be an impatient nuisance sometimes, haha queue comedic intro? well, while keith is often impatient, it’s usually during situations involving life or death decisions. and since lance isn’t about to die, and the timing of his release from the pod doesn’t put anyone else’s life at risk...
since i trust the vld writers enough at this point (at least with keith, i guess...?) to not make characters do shit for no good reason, i don’t think keith was being impatient for the hell of it, especially to do with someone he’s made a point of *Shrug* Not Really caring about -- that is, until shit went down in E5 and keith dropped that pretense like it was hot and didn’t hesitate to initiate the famed bonding moment.
my point here about this scene in E6, is that it’s directly linked to E5′s bonding moment, like 100%. maybe you’re like DUH OBVIOUSLY - and you’d be right, cause it’s obvious to me now and I was probably just being really slow on the uptake - but nevertheless, i don’t think we should hang up the the phone there...
i think that - well, with the “cradled you in my arms” line, we all kind of know - that keith took that bonding seriously to some extent. but to what extent? just seriously enough to be annoyed with lance’s response? personally, I think keith took it seriously enough that he truly believed a major shift had occurred between them - a shift, if my thoughts here are on the right track, he’d probably been hoping for (perhaps only subconsciously) since this scene:
it’s from the tail end of S1E2, after they successfully form voltron for the first time. i referred to this frame as “first time keith realizes that lance is actually kind of cool”. the way I interpreted this was that now, keith can no longer see lance as >insert stereotypes here< and predictable, but rather as someone interesting and possibly full of surprises and definitely worth paying attention to after all. but in this episode, keith’s still too closed off emotionally to acknowledge at maybe his new perspective of lance is making him wish things between them were different - not so they could be BFFs like lance and hunk are, but something else....something he can’t yet put into words (space ranger partners).
god they r all 3 uber-dorks okay
anyway
back to E6, I’m now imagining that keith has spent the last 24 hours secretly relishing the idea that he’s finally (for the first time in his life??) got himself a friend that is both a peer and someone that he feels instinctually closer to compared to other peers. (shiro is of course someone he feels instinctually closer to, but he is not quite a peer in age or maturity. the stuff can you do with a mentor/idol is definitely not the same stuff you can do with another shitting teenager like yourself).
buuuut we all know keith’s about to be disappointed when reality rears its ugly head and lance says some bullshit to allura again. “classic”. and so, from keith’s perspective, the reality is this: despite any shift between them that lance definitely felt (he saw it with his own eyes dammit), lance must have nevertheless interpreted it in a way did not put them the same page. fukin sux
poor keith. don’t we all hate when we hype something up in our minds and it turns out we were totally off the fucking mark all along? I imagine right now that he’s busy mentally burying his disappointment six feet deep. (note to remember for later: you can also see in the image above that shiro has the highest tolerance for lance’s shit.)
((((((( also eye-narrow worthy, but....perhaps...meaningless........hm:
when coran presents the ticker when the topic of ticks vs seconds comes up, hunk and pidge come over to look instantly. allura is shown walking over to the group moments later at 22:00 into the episode. shiro is shown watching from where he stands a few feet away. and keith is just ... ... ... absent from this exchange for 4 seconds before he’s briefly shown finally walking into the frame at 22:04. for four whole seconds he was just...what? staring, I guess? at lance, waiting, probably feeling determined to Be There when lance woke up. but not so determined that he’d risk someone calling him out for it. (but shiro is likely an exception for him: shiro doesn’t have his back turned, and so keith must trust him not to raise an eyebrow if keith kinda wanted to, you now, Be There.) )))))))
anywaaaaaay
we know that burying disappointment not so simple as pushing it away and never feeling it again. because like keith, when present reality doesn’t match our perceived reality, we’re like, “wtf? where did i go wrong? how did i misinterpret this? was I delusional?” and sometimes we’re like, “no, fuck you reality, I was not delusional, not this time, I was not wrong.” And voila, here you see keith in all that frustration: he’s planted himself as much in lance’s line of sight as he can without just straight up taking the yellow mouse’s seat right in front of the bowl of goo. keith clearly intends to be acknowledged. or at the very least, to glean some clue from lance’s behavior as to why he’s being Capital-I Ignored.
keith stays quiet during the conversation at the table until lance make a quip about the mice besting them all, and keith makes his salt known:
BITCH WHAT HTE FUCK? DID U NOT SEE HOW VALIANT I WAS PROTECTING YOUR ASS? I WAS THE SHIT! NOW STOP SPOONFEEDING THOSE FUCKING MICE I SWEAR TO
lance goes onto totally dismiss what keith did and this is....honestly not what keith expected
lance isn’t even making a dumb joke, he’s just being an asshole, plain and simple. keith now is like *softly* bitch what the fuck. “We had a bonding moment. I cradled you in my arms!” keith says, trying to look indignant, because alternative emotions are supposed be buried six feet deep.
but it’s no use, he’s stonewalled and subject-changed. and while we the audience know that the overly-defensive tone of lance’s stonewalling practically confirms that he remembers, we can only hope that lance realizes this too and is able to feel a pinch of salty relief.
it’s my conclusion that the whole point of these beginning scenes is not just to have some character interaction and a bit of thrown-in development, but to provide legit exposition and rising action to the fully-fledged subtextual plot of ep6. Read part 2 below, an elaboration of what I mean by this.
part 2: an entire subtextual plot in S1 E6?
(apologies to anyone else may have posted similar conclusions and I just totally missed them)
so here i get into are more circumstantial stuff. maybe my reasoning is clouded by ship-goggles, or maybe it’s the opposite, when armed with the interpretation lens that season 3 is all but dreamworks-signed confirmation that Keith and Lance’s relationship is intended to be something more than BFF friendship, and always has been, and everything about their relationship from S1E1 to S3E7 is very deliberate in order to make their future endgame as believable, nuanced, and in depth as is possible for a younger audience show.
assuming that this interpretation of S3 is not totally mistaken, then I contend that S1E6, in its entirety, is a far more momentous step in their relationship than all previous S1 episodes combined, including the bonding moment.
basically, hunk wants to fulfill his promise to save his girlfriend shay, but allura decides a new incoming distress beacon needs to be looked into first. they arrive, and very unlike shay’s introduction (S1E5), characterized by dull colors, distrust, and caution....
E6′s introduction to rolo and nyma is characterized by brightness colors, camaraderie, and repose. some quality irony here. tbh, It’s a fantastic way of fLipPing The ScrIPT if you ask me Hunk.
also I suppose it should be mentioned that shay is meant to be noted for her tattered clothes, androgyny, and lack of traditional beauty (but we aren’t fooled, shay is perfect) while rolo and nyma are clearly typed to be MUTHAFUCKIN SEX BEASTS. nyma is very overtly feminine and rolo is equally masculine.
as expected, lance swoons and does his gig. even says “Name’s Lance” which uh, de ja vu anyone ahem episode uno? as the episode progresses, it becomes clear that lance is going hella overboard, b/c even shiro (who, remember, has the highest tolerance for lance’s shit) is like for the love of fuck-
that night, there’s a bonfire, and rolo starts getting into his backstory. it’s worth noting that that besides space parents shiro and allura, keith is the only other paladin there listening. anyway rolo mentions sendak, immediately acknowledging him as a major threat. the point of that: considering just earlier in the episode, keith mentioned sendak’s threat to lance and lance promptly didn’t give a shit.....
even from profile view, keith’s expression in this frame ^ is distinctly similar to his expression from before (last frame from part 1), e.g. wide eyes revealing vulnerability, small frown, etc. i would take a gander that this is the moment that keith decides to...let things play out, rather than support hunk’s suspicions.
(why? maybe because he sees lance being a dipshit and if hunk’s right, and these people are liars and cheats, then lance is going to get what he deserves. but, i admit, such a theory has no basis in canon.)
meanwhile lance is being a dipshit and lets nyma inside the castle while the others aren’t looking. she plays him like a fiddle to get to the lions specifically, and at this point, the keen viewer is really starting to wonder why he’s being so dumb.
and this is important: I do not believe the writers were making him dumb because that’s his Personality. Just like keith’s impatience with the healing pod, there’s gotta be a reason behind his behavior beyond “that’s just how he is, that’s just what’s happening right now, don’t look into it too hard”.
I believe - going off of lance’s highly defensive refusal to acknowledge the bonding moment with keith earlier - he’s in a rather delicate emotional state right now, whether he consciously realizes it or not.
regardless of what keith might believe at this point, I think the reality is that lance sure as hell did remember. and although lance’s interpretation was probably different, it was different in the opposite way keith probably imagined (i.e. an even more dramatic and sentimental interpretation than keith’s). but the real divide between them at the beginning of E6 is their reactions to their own interpretations of the bonding moment:
keith reaction: omg a real friend?? for me?? maybe jesus does love me
lance reaction: lies jesus lies i have never had a gay thot in my entire life nope
one of the big reasons I’m fairly confident I’m not just making lance’s reaction up totally with ship-goggles is because of this slap-in-the-face parallel:
of ALL the things that could have been done, nyma is cradling lance in her arms, the very thing lance wants to deny even to himself ever happened with a certain someone else.
if you’re followin my theory, i think it could go like this:
because of the bonding moment, keith’s mind promoted his relationship with lance from we’re-both-in-voltron to F IS FOR FRIENDS, but i think from what can be seen of lance’s vastly exaggerated womanizing behaivor all E6, lance’s mind promoted his relationship with keith from grumpy-voltron-frenemy to ...
...
...
... something he can’t yet bring himself to put into words (space ranger partners, italicized coughcough)
honestly, the frame of lance in nyma’s arms is a little depressing when put in context with the beginning of the episode. what is lance thinking, in this moment? or trying not to think about? is he telling himself on repeat: this is what I want, this is what I wanted, this is how it’s supposed to go, this is who it’s supposed to be -- he’s 100% blushing when she asks him to take her on a ride around moon, holding him like this.
this post is cancelled if keith’s explicitly mentioned cradling is somehow not intended to be totally parallel to this scene right here with lance blushing.
(sorry little baby cuban, but it is not mindless bromance that is in your future.)
immediately after this, lance seems to check back into reality, and shows some resistance to nyma’s request. but then:
TRIGGERED
chances are, nyma made an educated guess that lance - like any hopeless romantic douche (psa i still love lance with my whole soul) - would react stupidly and competitively when threatened to be bested by another suitor. but there is a smidgen of possibility that she’s smart as FUCK (which there’s plenty of evidence of) and she knew that there could be only ONE1 reason lance could be overcompensating so obsessively. and out of other TeenPaladins, keith’s the hottest. i wouldn’t put it past this chick to put 2 and 2 and 5 together to get 69 and be correct.
bonus: she mentions how the minerals of the kinetic spring “reflect off the water, making a rainbow”. Also, I’m almost certain someone has pointed this out before, but I guess I’ll do it again - the bisexual flag colors are pink, lavender, and blue, and this background..!.............but that’s just whiteboard conspiracy silliness, surely. surely.
necessary? i think not
((((((( also on a related note, i’ve watched this clip below like eight times because I have a feeling that this sequence is some kind of subtle parallel or reference to something as well. on the surface, lance appears to be surprised and blush when nyma rests her head against his armpit side and starts laughing.
it just caught me off guard like, why would this bit be included? we already know that lance is infatuated with her, so what’s the point? why waste time and frames to keep making the same point? ... oR is there some other point that’s trying to be made and I am blind to see it? right now I can’t come up with anything, but if you have any ideas, definitely let me know. )))))))
meanwhile...
keith stap.
and so lance’s massive fuck up comes to a peak, and he’s so desperate for this thing with nyma to work (so desperate to prove to himself that nothing’s changed, he’s still the same, a beautiful girl is still what he wants, what he needs) that for one sad moment he’s actually willing to believe nyma’s a dominatrix before he’s willing to believe that she’d been playing him all along...
(how can I be mad at this boy?)
the others start the pursuit to save lance, and i think that it’s clever how keith was given the spotlight in the blue lion’s recovery via navigating the asteroid belt. that pursuit scene was very flexible in its requirements for how it needed to go, technically keith’s role doing that was interchangeable, and so the whole sequence could have been designed in a way to cater to another lion’s strengths. but.
“This kid can flat-out fly,” says rolo. the title of this episode is “Taking Flight”. why would the title of this episode, in which, tbh, keith hardly does anything for a majority of it, be dedicated to this relatively predictable space car chase?
A: because it enables keith to say that he got is lion back. I saved your ass AGAIN and this time you can’t deny it!
and because of this experience, lance now has come to understand (to at least some extent) that there’s no point in wishing that he’d had his Magical Moment of Connection™ with some cool and pretty girl like he’d always imagined.
maybe, very very deep down, he’s begun to realize that the moment was only magical in the first place because it was with keith.
keith, who keeps coming through for him when it matters most.
the episode comes full circle, and - going along with my theory so far - the real conflict has been resolved. One might argue all that this “subtext” was just a subplot to the main plot of learning their lesson with the bounty hunters and always listening to hunk because he’s right and shay is 1000% more pure than rolo and nyma combined, tattered clothes be damned.
Or like me, one could argue that all that non-subtextual stuff (not counting the interspersed, juxtaposed scenes of Overarching Plot, Starring Your Hosts Haggar and Zarkon) was just an external plot chalk full of thematic parallels tailor-made to accommodate the true purpose of the episode: for lance and keith to come to terms with each other in the aftermath of the subtle but major shift that’s occurred between them.
lance took a big step in this one episode by going from total denial to verbal acceptance (for everyone to hear) of a bonding moment, in fact, existing.
and keith did good by accepting lance as he is and choosing not to continue resenting him for how he first reacted. its safe to say that keith progressed in character even more than lance, which I think is why he wins the focus of the episode title, because what he learned was that if he wants a deeper friendship with lance, fate’s not going to hand it to him in a healing pod. he has to do his part developing it. he has to work for it.
knowing keith, that’s a pretty tall order. but at least this time, keith got to Be There for lance after all.

run me over
So... finally got good WiFi to post this fifth part!
Part One: thump
Part Two: melt
Part Three: do you even meme?
Part Four: laugh
Part Five: fall
It’s not a date. That’s what Jack had been telling himself for a week now. It’s not a date. He was going to see Felix again, enjoy his company one more time in complete one sided emotion. They were going to hang out at the arcade. Like the good old days when the two guys were just kids, and the arcade was still a cool place to hang out. Not that it wasn’t anymore, but it was a dying oasis.
Maybe he shouldn’t have worn this shirt. Maybe a different colour would have been better. What was Felix’s favorite colour? Maybe that was something Jack should know by now, he has been working on a friendship for near a month at this point. They had been talking almost every day since having watched the movie with PJ. He was even texting the goof himself and getting advice on how to deal with the Swede.
Thank goodness for that too, because Jack almost blew it a couple times there.
Jack was in the car with Felix now and just a block away from the arcade. They had been talking about video games, and Jack’s favorite game.
“It’s a good game, not gonna lie,” Felix said. “I played it. I just like Dark Souls better.” Jack could almost feel offended at this.
“Shadow of the Colossus is so much better! It’s just boss battles over and over!” Jack looked at Felix and wanted to hold his hand so badly, but refrained. Felix winced at jack’s yelling. He still wasn’t used to it yet.
“Alright!” Felix yelled in mock agreement. “It’s the best game!” Jack faced forward again.
“Damn right it is!” the two pulled into the parking lot of the arcade and got out to walk when the car stopped. Jack was visibly excited. He almost skipped as he walked, giggling when he talked. Felix was amused to see Jack act almost like a little boy. It was definitely endearing to say the least, Felix definitely was comfortable enough with his sexuality to call the man adorable.
Stepping into the arcade, Jack and Felix took a moment to take in the blips and bells and lights from the dozens of games around. This was definitely going to be a good afternoon.
“Wanna make a bet?” Felix almost sings, his eyes twinkling and eyebrow raising. Jack loved his eyes.
“What are ou planning you meatball?” Jack squinted his eyes and put his hands on his hips. They walked to the coin machine to trade forty dollars for tokens.
“Whoever wins the most games by the end of the day wins,” Felix suggested. Jack thought about it, sure that he wouldn’t win. Felix was just as sure of his gaming ability.
“Somethings got to be at stake here,” Jack said. “Loser has to do whatever the winner wants. But only one thing!” Jack would make that win count. Felix smiled even more and gave a little laugh. Jack could feel his heart squeezing in his chest.
“Get ready to lose, Sean!” Jack wanted to die right then at the sound of Felix calling out his legal name. It was almost too much for him to handle. Jack smiled through the urge to jump Felix and kiss him, wrapping his arms around him. No doubt he’d lose him uber quickly that way. He just had to wait, lie and wait.
“You have to be cheating!” Felix called out after. He was losing sorely in air hockey – the final game the boys would play. Jack was already ahead by wins, but Felix insisted that air hockey would be the ultimatum. The all or nothing. And he was still losing five to one.
“You are terrible at this,” Jack retorted. He hit the puck once and it landed itself in the little goal. Felix huffed as jack gained another point.
“I’m not, you're just a cheater!” He complained like a child.
“How can you cheat at this?” Jack laughed, watching the puck that Felix was serving. The two of them had genuinely been having a blast, even if Felix was sorely losing. They hit the puck back and fortha few more times until Felix made a lucky shot and gained a point. It was now six to two. If Jack made another point, Felix would lose the whole bet.
“Ha!” Felix threw his hands up in the air. “I got a point! Get ready Irish leprechaun cause I'm about to whoop your ass!”
“Be quiet you goof,” Jack laughed. “There are kids around.” Felix’s arms went down quickly and looked embarrassed very quickly. His cheeks got the tiniest hint of pink and Jack laughed more. In truth he found it to be the most adorable thing ever, but played it off as Felix being funny. “Come on, we aren’t finished yet!” Jack set the puck back on the table top. Immediately it started floating away. He hit it towards Felix, the man whom he was slowly falling for more and more.
The two men kept passing and missing hits for near a minute. Felix tried his best to keep Jack from winning. But Jack was just a little too good. Or maybe it was just luck, seeing as how he’d never heard of anyone who was genuinely good at air hockey. Anyhow, Jack made the final seventh point, signifying he had won the game. He lifted his arms in victory.
“Yes!” He cried out over the blips and shouts from other people. “Irish Leprechaun gets the win!” Felix narrowed his eyes playfully at the gloating shorter man.
“I still say you cheated,” He pointed an accusatory finger at Jack, who just laughed.
“Oh shut up and let’s count our tickets.” Jack led the way to the ticket counting machine. He had a mess of tickets in his hand which he had gotten from most of the games they played. It almost made Felix roll his eyes over the disorganization Jack seemed to have over them. It took a while to untangle them enough to insert them into the machine, and ripping the tickets was necessary at times, but eventually the machine printed a receipt that dictated Jack had over nine hundred fifty tickets.
Felix was smart about the whole issue. He had folded his tickets nicely into rows of ten and kept them in the cup they used for tokens. Neat. Jack wondered how Felix had the patience to do that. It was cute, how he used his head even at the most useless of times. Easily, Felix fed the tickets to the machine. The receipt read six hundred twenty three total tickets. Jack made the pathetic muted trumpet sound that played in old cartoons whenever the character failed.
“Shut up,” Felix muttered playfully. They made their way to the rewards counter to get things. They looked around at different stupid toys for a few minute. Chinese handcuffs, those stupid plastic hands, tops, stickers, sweets. They laughed at everything they saw. Nothing was good enough. They were a bit too old for some of these things and neither of them had enough to get the really good things like the hover boards or wii games to play with guests. Jack’s eye caught on a black plushy the size of a pumpkin.
“Fe, look!” Jack cried out pointing to the dragon plushy. “It’s a Toothless!” Felix looked to the toy. He could tell jack really liked it. Could tell he wanted it. The way Jack looked with wide eyes at the cute dragon was endearing. He was like a child. Felix smiled.
“You should get it,” he said. Jack looked for the tag that said how much it was. Twelve hundred thirty tickets. He frowned disappointed.
“Can’t,” he said dejectedly. “It’s too much.” Felix frowned and looked at the tag. He did some quick mental math. He pulled Jack be the sleeve to get to the counter and got the attention of a girl who was working behind the counter. When she saw Felix she smiled.
“What can I get you?” She said. Felix took Jack’s ticket from him and handed them to the girl.
“Can we get the Toothless thing if we combine the two?” He asked, pointing to the plushy. Jack looked up quickly and looked at Felix. Combine the tickets to get him the Toothless? Would he really do that for him? Felix didn’t look to be joking.
The girl looked at Jack and smiled. “You’re in luck,” She said lightly. She moved to get the Toothless from the shelf. Jack just kept looking at Felix while waiting. It wasn’t such an odd thing to do, but it was so incredibly sweet, so terrifically lovable. Jack’s heart beat perfectly calm and didn’t hurt at all. Different to the usual reaction he had when Felix did something he loved.
That’s when Jack knew his emotions had gotten too strong.
“Here you go!” The girl handed over the plushie to Felix. “That leaves you with…three hundred forty six tickets.” She seemed to do the math in her head. Felix handed Jack the plushy. He took it in his hands gingerly. It was a surprisingly good quality. Had the DreamWorks tag on it. Jack smiled softly when he hugged the plushy tightly. He’d love and take good care of this for the rest of his life. A gift from the first guy he ever loved.
Loved.
“Wanna get a bunch of candy?” Felix asked. Jack could only nod. He was afraid to speak, maybe his loud voice would blow Felix away. Felix turned to the girl behind the counter. “Just fill a bag with different sweets until we run out of tickets.” The girl nodded and grabbed a bag and went to the sweets under the glass counter. She pulled out an assortment of lollipops, sour strings, skittles, Jolly Ranchers, and chocolates.
“Hey whats wrong?” Felix said noticing jack was very quiet.
“Nothing,” Jack said softly. “I just can’t believe you gave up half your tickets for me.” Felix smiled at that.
“No big deal,” he assured. “I’d rather you get something cool you want than we both get shitty little toys.” The girl came back and gave Felix the bag of candy. The two men walked back to the car. Felix was going to drop Jack off at home now.
On the way to Jack’s house, he thought a lot. Perhaps to Felix the gesture was simply an act of kindness or sensibility. But to Jack it was a whole lot more than that. It was something that pushed jack to understand the depth of his emotions. How he could never live without Felix being in his life one way or another. Even if they never got together romantically, he needed him. Without Felix, what was even the point of living anymore? So of course, he had to keep him. Even if it meant never telling Felix he was gay, or admitting his feelings to a man who believed he was incredibly straight.
If this is what love felt like, Jack was in for a lifetime of unrequited love and disappointment when Felix found a girl he thought he loved. It was definitely a fast fall for him. Almost two months since he had first been saved by Felix. Only one month of talking to him. Of course it was an incredibly short amount of time. Most people would say it definitely was not love.
But he was sure it was. How could it be anything else?
Felix reached Jack’s house and stopped the car.
“Well here we are,” Felix said. They had both been munching on sweets on the way. Felix was currently munching on a chocolate. Jack was sucking on a lollipop that he just opened.
“I had fun man,” Jack said with a smile. “Thanks for bringing me!” He unbuckled his seatbelt.
“I had fun too! Still think you cheated but it’s whatever.” Felix shrugged and giggled. That gave Jack an idea.
“Oh yeah,” he started with a mischievous smirk. “About that…” Felix’s smile disappeared. The bet had still been on and Felix just reminded Jack of it. Oh no, he thought. For sure, Felix thought Jack would make him do something horrible. Jack thought about it quickly. What did he want from Felix now? A kiss would be nice, but no doubt Felix would question it and refuse and then wonder what Jack was really around for. But perhaps a kiss on the cheek… but it had to be weird for Felix.
“Kiss me on the cheek,” Jack said with a smirk. “Since you lost.” Felix’s eyes widened and he looked confused at Jack.
“What?” He chuckled nervously. “For real?”
“What?” jack taunted. “You aren’t comfortable enough in your own sexuality that you can’t give a friend a kiss on the cheek when you lose a bet?” Felix blushed a little bit.
“How is this rewarding for you?” He asked moving his hair around on his head.
“It makes you uncomfortable, doesn’t it?” Jack laughed. It was a good cover for him. No one had to know or suspect anything. Felix thought about tit for a minute. A bet was a bet. He had to pay up. Jack apparently knew exactly what made him tick.
“Alright,” he surrendered. Jack smiled as if he had won – which he had – and closed his eyes. He turned his head and brought his cheek out for Felix to kiss when he was ready. Felix bit his pride and heterosexuality and leaned in to give Jack a kiss to his cheek. He left a small mark of chocolate on his cheek. Felix saw and was tempted to wipe it away but decided against it. Jack smiled wider, probably amused – unbeknownst to Felix he was shining with joy and resisting to pull Felix in for a kiss.
“Not so bad now was it?” Jack joked. Felix blushed a bit.
“The worst thing I’ve ever done in my life,” he playfully insulted. Jack laughed and got out of the car. After a quick goodbye, Felix drove away. It was a strange feeling; kissing a man on the cheek. He had never done that before. Felix shied away from anything that could be considered homosexual, although he could act like the gayest person in the whole city, he never acted on words or phrases he’s said or mimed.
He drove home thinking of the green haired boy and the kiss on the cheek. It couldn’t have meant anything to jack… so why was it starting to mean something to him?

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #138 - Mr. Peabody and Sherman
Spoilers below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: Yes.
Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: Yes, #284.
Format: Blu-ray
Shoutout to @im-this-kind-of-girl, who’s blog I found while looking for GIFs to use in this recap and apparently loves this film. If you chose to read this I hope you like it as much as I like your GIFs. You’re tagged about a hundred times in this because I credit each of your GIFs to you.
1) The Dreamworks deal that allows them to make the “Voltron” TV show on Netflix right now also gives them ownership of the Mr. Peabody & Sherman brand. They had licensed the characters to make the film but by the time of release had bought them (and others) outright.
2) If there are any fans of the original “Mr. Peabody and Sherman” cartoons I’m going to let you know now: I never watched those so they bear no weight on my attitudes towards this film.
3) Ty Burrell as Mr. Peabody.
Burrell is honestly the perfect voice for the role. Robert Downey Jr. was attached for a time but I don’t think anyone could have topped Burrell’s work. The best voice over work is marked by forgetting that you’re listening to an actor and just accepting they are the character, and every time I think of the fact that this is Ty Burrell and not just Mr. Peabody I am in awe. He has the most perfect balance of humor, intellect, and heart which makes the character what he is. He comes off as funny and like a genuine dad (even playing the dad jokes/puns straight). Burrell is able to make the character in this film and I am so grateful that he was cast.
4) The prologue for the film works quite well. It sets the fun and whimsical tone as well as a sense of humor. We also get an early sense of Peabody and Sherman as characters. Peabody as narrator is most easily established, but the filmmakers are able to make Sherman feel like a genuine kid. Not an annoying child, not an adult acting like a child, but a real kid. All in the opening minutes too.
5) I find it interesting how the film calls out the story of George Washington cutting down a cherry tree as not being true, but still claims Marie Antoinette said, “Let them eat cake!” when (if I’m not mistaken) the historical accuracy of that is at best questionable.
6) I really like this film’s sense of humor.
Mr. Peabody: “...the people of France were exceedingly poor.”
[Cut to two peasants lying in the streets]
Peasant 1: “Got any bread?”
Peasant 2: “NO! I’m exceedingly poor!”
7) Right before the film’s release, I had heard that it was going to be rated PG-13 but an appeal from the filmmakers made it PG. I was confused by this at first, but after seeing the movie I understand why. Here are a few reasons for my understanding:
Mr. Peabody is almost killed by a guillotine
We see paintings which depict mummification in vivid detail
Sherman fights in the Trojan war; it’s not as watered down as you may expect
Sherman and Peabody both bite people at two different points
I’m not saying it’s enough to warrant the film ACTUALLY being rated PG-13, but I can understand why it may have almost been.
8) The early sewer chase through Paris is a good showcase of the film’s imaginative action which is to come. It is both captivating to the eye but definitely uses the benefits of animation. I don’t know that something like lighting the methane gas in a sewer to be projected to safety would work as well in live action as it does in animation.
9) Penny (the female lead and trio to Peabody’s/Sherman’s adventure) is never really given an explanation as to why she is such a MASSIVE bully. Like, she’s really awful. She mocks Sherman for being smart, calls him a dog, holds him in a chokehold, she’s downright cruel! And while she develops overtime in a way which is organic and believable, her initial characterization is never explained.
Ariel Winter does quite well in the role though.
10) Ugh, this crap.
Principal [to Mr. Peabody]: “Sherman got in a fight today!”
No, he was bullied and had to defend himself AFTER BEING PUT IN A CHOKEHOLD!
Ms. Grunion: “It’s normal for children to tease...”
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
I know Grunion is an antagonist and this situation is used to set up conflict in the show, but it paints the unfortunately real picture of how there are adults and people in power who normalize bullying. And it needs to stop in the real world.
11) Allison Janney is a treat as Ms. Grunion though. Janney is one of my favorite actresses ever and has shown her skilled voice over chops in projects like Finding Nemo. Ms. Grunion isn’t in the movie much but when she is (very much like Ty Burrell does as Peabody) Janney is stellar in the role.
12) One of the nice thing this film does that I don’t think the television show did (and again, I never watched, so I don’t know for sure) is examine the father/son relationship between Mr. Peabody and Sherman. The flashback scene where Mr. Peabody is making his case for why he should adopt Sherman in front of a judge (how no one wanted him as a child either) is particularly telling of their connection. It is a nice relationship to carry us throughout the film.
13) I always felt like this was as much a nod to The Prince of Egypt as it was to history in Mr. Peabody’s flashbacks.
(GIF originally posted by @somehow-you-will)
14) Stephen Colbert and Leslie Mann playing characters who like...almost exactly like Stephen Colbert and Leslie Mann.
15) One of my favorite character actors around is Steve Valentine, most memorable for his leading turn in “I’m in the Band” on Disney XD, his voice over work in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and his performance in Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk. He is in this film as Ay, royal vizier to King Tut.
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
16) There are so. Many. PUNS!!!!!
Mr. Peabody [after Sherman knocks off a mummy arm]: “That’s disarming.”
I’m just sharing the one because I don’t want to overload you guys but damn there’s a lot!
17) So...why does Sherman like Penny? She has literally done nothing but cruel and condescending to him this entire film. She humiliated him in front of school, she’s shoved him off, pushed him around, called him a liar multiple times, been a total jerk, and he...likes her?
18) It is important to remember that Sherman is smart. Not Mr. Peabody smart, but smart. When in Egypt, he gets like 99% of the booby trapped floor puzzle right when he was only sort of paying attention to Mr. Peabody before. That shows brains.
19) I really like the humor in this film. I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again.
Mr. Peabody, Masquerading as Anubis [after Ay says the sun god Ra demand Penny’s marriage to Tut]: “That’s so funny. I was talking to the sun god Ra just the other day...”
20) Stanley Tucci is fun as Da Vinci. Stanley Tucci is one of the most consistently talented actors around. He ALWAYS devotes himself to a role fully and is often times the best parts in a movie. That same passion shows in his voice over work here. I really enjoy it.
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
21) Have I mentioned how I like the humor of this film before?
DaVinci [about how children are not machines]: “I tried to build one once. It WAS creepy.”
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
22) The way the time stream is animated during the time travel sequences (bet seen when the trio almost is trapped by a black hole) is very well done. It is a fun and interesting way of visually showing the concept of time as the group hurdles through it.
This is just concept art above but the final representation is pretty close to this.
23) The conflict between Peabody and Sherman is at its highest when Sherman exclaims this to his adoptive father:
Sherman: “I said I’m not a dog!”
It shows a real conflict between the two. Peabody has become concerned about being able to raise Sherman right recently, and Sherman has been questioning who he is outside of his relationship with his dad. It will be resolved wonderfully by the film’s end, however.
24) I’m a sucker for Patrick Warburton in anything, but Patrick Warburton in a voice over role is particularly wonderful.
25.1) Honestly the entire Trojan horse scene has some of my favorite jokes in the film. To start with, the fact that they made Odysseus - the great heroic character in the Odyssey - into this little pimple of a guy:
And I know you’re not supposed to judge people by appearances, but in animation characters are designed the way they are for a reason and the reason here is to play against the standard idea of Odysseus.
25.2) Not to mention the fact that Peabody and Penny get into the Trojan horse LITERALLY by using their own Trojan horse.
25.3) And then, my favorite joke of the entire film, comes at the end of this mini monologue:
Agamemnon: FYI, a lot of heroes have father issues. My old man is a minotaur. Half man, half bull, all judgement. Ajax, here, strongest guy in the world, but his father never accepted that his real dream was to sing.
Ajax: [in falsetto] I wanted to be in the Greek Chorus.
Agamemnon: Uh, yeah, and don't even get me started about Oedipus. Let's just say you do *not* want to be at his house over the holidays. It's awkward.
Honorable mention to the “Greek Chorus” joke too.
26) My aching heart.
Sherman [shouting over a cliff, after he thinks Mr. Peabody died]: “Mr. Peabody! Mr. Peabody! [Beat] Dad!”
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
27) Probably could’ve worded this better (although it was probably written for that very reason).
28) STOP! NORMALIZING! BULLYING! GRUNION!
Ms. Grunion [after Penny apologize for being a bully]: “You have nothing to apologize for Penny...”
(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)
29) The climax for this film is SO much fun! I just love it to pieces! It is fast paced, has some great humor in bringing all the historical figures to the present, and brings together every character we’ve met so far in a fast paced and wild ride. It is just SO much fun watching literally EVERYONE chase after Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
30) Mel Brooks has probably three lines total as Einstein but it’s totally worth it.
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
31) This. Freaking. Movie.
youtube
I lied before. This is probably my favorite joke in the film.
32) Remember how I said the conflict between Sherman and Peabody is resolved wonderfully?
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
It shows Sherman making peace with who he is and supporting his dad, and convincing everyone else to do the same as they all exclaim, “I’m a dog too!” It’s surprisingly sweet and moving, perhaps one of my favorite parts of the film.
33) I will say, the first time I saw this film I thought to myself, “I’m Spartacus.” And then, of course, who should show up...
34) This. Freaking. Movie.
George Washington: “I hereby award Mr. Peabody a presidential pardon.”
Abe Lincoln: “Me too.”
(GIF originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
Bill Clinton is still alive, which begs the question: is he there as a historical figure or was he just in New York and wanted to see what was going on? Since it’s Bill Clinton it’s probably the latter.
35) This is sweet. A nice emotional conclusion as Mr. Peabody couldn’t say, “I love you,” too Sherman earlier in the film.
(GIFs originally posted by @im-this-kind-of-girl)
Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a wonderful film that unfortunately was not exactly Dreamworks most watched movie at the time of release. It has a unique and fun sense of humor, fun animation, but also an emotional arc and characters you truly get invested in. The voice acting is very on point, and it is just a fun ride. If you’re a fan of animation, Dreamworks, or just moviemaking in general and haven’t seen this film, I highly recommend it.

29. youtube or netflix: I mean, if I had to pick one, I would pick youtube, because netflix has a lower chaos factor 30. harry potter or percy jackson: Harry Potter, but mostly because I saw a percy jackson movie and I absolutely hated what they did with the character of Persephone 31. when you feel accomplished: When I complete my writing goals, and when all the chores get done at work 32. star wars or star trek: I know more about Star Wars, but I’d like to get into Star Trek--I mean, I know there’s a fandom for it. 33. paperback books or hardback books: Paperback, because I’m usually reading three at a time so I prefer lighter formats 34. horror or rom-com: What is the point of horror with no romance or comedy? 35. tv shows or movies: Movies, but this means that I will eagerly see a movie by myself, but friends have to coerce me into watching TV shows, which I then enjoy 36. favorite animal: That one bigfin(?) squid because it’s enough of a diva to want to get filmed, but is confident enough in itself to not sacrifice any of its total horrifyingness 37. favorite genre of music: The playlist that you play while going with your best friend/lover to dispose of the body of someone you didn’t really like in a swamp in Louisiana 38. least favorite book: Atlas Shrugged fuck that thing 39. favourite season: Autumn--everything is very colorful and dead, and the chaos factor of everything increases 40. song that’s currently stuck in your head: I’m listening to music right now so I don’t have a song stuck in my head. But recently I had “We Built This City on Rock and Roll” stuck in my head for a long time at work 41. what kind of pyjama’s do you wear: Flannel pj pants and a long-sleeved t-shirt right now 42. if you could be any fictional character’s best friend, who’d you be?: I would be Sanderson Mansnoozie’s best friend, I feel like that would work out somehow 43. If you can only choose one song to be played at your funeral, what would it be: “Death is the Road to Awe” by Clint Mansell
44. Smiling or smirking?: I mean, when the time is right, you have to have both at your disposal 45. Harry Potter movies or books: books books books 46. Something you’re proud of: the fact that I’ve actually made money off of niche erotica 47. Dub or Subtitles?: Can’t knit with subs, so dubs it is. Unless I started watching something with subtitles. Then I just have to somehow watch a show without doing something else at the same time???????

Hiiiiiiii! I don't know who you are but I already love you. Hug me, brotha.
I’m looking for a pen pal! I’m 15, Muslim, a sarcastic prick, and bilingual! I’m fluent in English and Persian. I’ve also got a French project so for the francophones, hit me up… please. I’ve been taking French for years, and although the language sounds beautiful to the ears and is fun to learn but I’d still like to learn it through speaking it with someone as often as I can :D Please, I’m dying with this project someone take this introvert under their wing :D Seriously, everyone who actually ends up contacting me will get a quick response.
I’m a pretty open/accepting person, and I’m not very sensitive. (But I’ll understand if you are! I’m just letting you know so you don’t feel awkward making a joke about me being a nerd or whatever. I’m a queen anyways, I’ll understand if it takes you a while to see that light and look past my dorky exterior.) But if you’re looking for a listener, and someone you just need to get your thoughts out on then you can count on me. I’m not too shabby at distracting people from a bad day, though, I’ve got tons of funny stories about the events of my life to tell. I like to think my life isn’t that mundane through telling a weird story about the time I fainted in a grocery store (Or that time I convinced my aunt to stop being homophobic, that time I fainted in SCHOOL and I learned years later which way I fell through emails with my elementary school teachers, the great Tiger plushie heist and the eventual familial gossip that ensued, ) even though my life’s pretty… mundane.
My interests include film, I love reading studying about their cinematography, the colour palette of a specific movie, observing a really good actor (Predictable, but I had a really fun time seeing Heath Ledger play the Joker in the Dark Night.), listening to their soundtracks. I also especially love animated films (Disney, Pixar, Hayao Miyazaki,Laika and Dreamworks have made some good flicks.) and it’s something I’ve been nerdy about for as long as I can remember. As for movies in general, there’s something magical about taking whatever’s written on a piece of paper and transforming it to the silver screen. I’m sure, for a director, their minds are always ahead of the current work they produce and they can never get it done exactly like what they imagine. When something they thought up makes it as a movie and ends up being a masterpiece regardless of how different it turned out, that must be really awarding. I just love movies, dammit! I swear to God I don’t sound that pretentious when I’ll talk with you one on one.You can send me stuff about dank memes, (I love memes, so actually do that and I’ll love you forever.) rant about how much undeserved hate your fandom gets, Dan Howell’s fringe, how Bucky Barnes would dance with women today, interior design, what your crack ship’s first kiss would be like and I would still be absolutely enthralled. Despite not being a fan of any of those things besides Bucky and uh… dank memes. Not a normie in the slightest.
I think elderly people are adorable. I don’t fetishize or romanticize them, it’s just that most of the old people in my life haven’t been dicks and they’re fun to talk to about history or just our contrast in interests. Random but it’s a fact.
I’m also the bomb when it comes to Disney or Pixar trivia. Or just trivia in general. You could ask me to tell you a random fun fact (And I really mean the lit ones, not boring stuff like “The Little Mermaid came out in 1995!” I would say something like, “Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over his webcam. Canada has the Apology Act which means that if someone apologizes after committing something illegal (I’m not sure of the exact details) that it can’t be used against them in court to make them seem guilty. At Disney parks, all the images of Walt Disney smoking a cigarette have been photoshopped so you can’t tell he’s smoking in them. Also, most animators chose to work on Pocahontas instead of The Lion King because TLK was more expected to flop. Again, prolly messed up some details.”)
I like to read! Percy Jackson series are great :) I also really like this book called Flipped, heard of it? Huh, weird. Well, on continuing the conversation of things you’ve never heard about, my favourite author is Stephen King! In 7th grade, my teacher told me to read The Stand because it was his most acclaimed and epic book. I borrowed a copy, read it, and I was floored. It had me locked in, and once I finished it I loved it so much that I bought her a new copy on the last day of school and she had a copy to give to me! It was the cheesiest, 90s show ending to that year of middle school ever (Minus the pointdexters. I’m definitely not one at all, I like to imagine I’d be a soft-on-the-inside punk or goth chick. Yeah, I’m not one right now despite that being hard to believe. Sorry if you’re in a bandom and you’re cringing while.reading this.)
Shows: I like Avatar: the Last Airbender (I didn’t get really involved in LoK, though.) Supernatural, (although I’ve just started watching it, so if you’re a die-hard fan go easy on me!) Hannibal, Teen Wolf, Sherlock, the MCU/Marvel, X-Men, k-pop specifically f(x) and IU, I’ve seen a ton of shoujo/rom-com anime when I was younger if you’re interested in that, (planning on seeing Hunter x Hunter soon and waiting for the next AoT season to air.) Jane the Virgin, I’ve seen like two episodes of Suits and if anyone ships anyone on that show then come spill your heart out.
Music/other: I love photography, I’ve saved around 700 total gifs and images, mostly of celebrities but a lot of them include pictures and art that I just really enjoy gazing at. The music I listen to is kind of all over the place. I like pop in general (specifically synth-pop and electro-pop), EDM, pop-rock, indie, k-pop, RnB, vocal jazz, jazz, music from the 20s-50s, 80s pop and rock, bossa nova, classic rock, rap. (I keep it to mostly Kendrick. I doubt Ego Death by The Internet counts.) Recommend me any music, anything. Weird sex noises? Um, okay. I’m hesitant but I’m asexual and I might just laugh, so go ahead. Country? I have a feeew country songs that I like. Try me. Metal? Haven’t found anything yet, but I’m always willing to listen. Are your kpop faves nugu? My weave’s already snatched by your gods, send me a link fam.
