Yep, these two are besties and brothers in my main headcanon.

Mr. Hector J. Peabody was interested in time travel long before he became a father. When he was a puppy, he built what was the first prototype of the WABAC, known only to him as his Way Back Wristwatch, or WBW for short, which he used to travel back in time to further feed his growing interest.

The first era he wound up in was the 1800s, in San Ricardo, a town resting on the desert hills of Spain. There, he met Puss and Humpty fiddling with some sort of winged contraption, which sparked further interest. Peabody walked over to them and asked what they were working on. Humpty first mistook Peabody's genuine interest for a prank. But when Peabody walked around it for further inspection and praised Humpty's mechanics on his glider, the attention to detail, and the brilliant influence of Leonardo da Vinci.

Humpty was taken back by his compliment and told Peabody that he was the only one who spotted the Leonardo da Vinci inspiration. Humpty then introduced himself and his non-verbal friend. Humpty then asked Peabody if he was interested in helping him and his friend test out his glider. Peabody accepted Humpty's invitation.
