"I shouldn't have done this," Hinata muttered to herself, her voice barely audible over the bustling activity of the gym she found herself in.

It was a place she had never truly been a part of, an outsider peering into a world she had never dared to enter before.

The gym.

Hinata shook her head.

What was she thinking?

Rapidly, like a schizophrenic patient, her lavender eyes darted hesitantly across the area, cringing at the sight of numerous bodies of all sizes–scattered throughout the place.

Her gaze swept over the multitude of people, each one deeply engrossed in their workout routine, contributing to the rhythmic ebb and flow of the gym's energy.

The people here, sporting wide ranges of colorful fitness gear, moved with a comfort and ease that she envied, effortlessly blending into the hustle and bustle of the gym without a single worry in sight.

Conversations merged into a low murmur, punctuated by the occasional clank of weights, the whir of exercise machines, and random music from someone's headphones nearby.

The air was thick with the unmistakable scent of sweat, enveloping her like a heavy blanket, each breath saturated with the pungent aroma. It clung to her slightly dewy skin, mingling with the heat radiating from the bodies all around her.

To say Hinata was overwhelmed would be an understatement; nerves currently coursed through her so intensely that she felt like she was seconds away from barfing.

She felt queasy.

The gym was so packed!

Hinata wasn't one for crowded spaces, but the thought of pushing herself through intense public workouts amidst all the hustle and bustle of a crowd definitely takes the cake.

All those people.

All those eyes.

Watching her.

She shuddered.

Let's just say, going to the gym has never been on the top of her bucket list.

Hinata smacked her forehead in frustration.

Then, why did she choose to listen to Sakura?

Why did she actually go through with her advice?

When Hinata expressed the desire to kickstart the new year by shedding a bit of weight and getting fit, she hadn't anticipated finding herself in a packed gym, surrounded by sweaty bodies, waiting, what seemed like an eternity for her new personal trainer.

No way.

"Yep, this is a bad idea." Hinata groaned, feeling the very reason she had dreaded coming to the gym materializing all around her.

"Oh no, you don't! You're not backing out, Hinata-chan. I've done wayyy too much for you to chicken out and leave now."

Sakura Haruno.

Hinata's best friend.

The pink-haired woman's voice burst through the phone pressed against Hinata's ear, shattering the brief silence that had settled on her end.

Her voice startled Hinata, only adding to the anxiety that practically permeated every inch of her being.

Anxiously, the midnight blue-haired woman began to bounce her leg up and down, her eyes continuously scanning the area.

She occupied a sad, empty cushioned chair tucked away in a corner of one of the gym's lounge areas, her fitness bag and water bottle claiming the seat beside her.

Hinata shook her head, her messy bun growing even messier.

"D-Demo-"

"No buts, Hinata-chan! There's nothing to worry about, it's just nerves. You'll be fine, I promise."

Hinata let out a whimper, surveying the crowded gym once again. Yet, no matter how many times she glanced around, the feeling of being out of place lingered, refusing to go away.

She bit her lip nervously, "I-I don't know, Sakura-chan."

"Hinata-chan, you've got to stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize, girl. Aren't you determined to achieve those New Year's goals you keep pestering yourself about?"

Sakura's encouraging voice bombarded Hinata with questions, urging her on.

"And what about working towards that healthier lifestyle you've always wanted, huh?"

"H-Hai, demo..." Hinata hesitated, her thoughts muddled.

"You want to get toned up, don't ya? Wanna get snatched?

"W-Well yes, that's, um, one way of putting it..."

"Okay then! Just imagine all the attention you'll get from men when you finally get that body all plump and fit. You'll have them lining up for you, even more than they already do-"

"Sakura-chan!" Hinata protested, feeling the heat rising in her cheeks due to Sakura's bold and certainly unexpected comment.

A mischievous giggle bubbled from Sakura's lips from her end of the phone, the sound teasing and light-hearted, as she relished in Hinata's reaction.

Hinata shook her head, "Y-You know th-that's certainly not what I want!"

On that remark, Sakura's giggle tapered off into a chuckle, clearly hearing the embarrassment in her best friend's tone.

"Relax, Hinata-chan, I'm just messing with you."

Sakura spoke, her tone softer now, trying to ease Hinata's embarrassment.

There was a brief pause before Sakura's voice arose again.

"You did check in at the front desk, didn't you?

Hinata nodded nervously, stammering, "H-Hai. I-I checked in-"

"Then there's nothing to worry about! Just take it easy until your personal trainer arrives. You'll really appreciate it once he does."

Sakura quipped, the excitement in her voice evident. She made sure to stress the word "really" in that sentence.

"The trainer I've set you up with is seriously top-notch—he was actually recommended by my own trainer. He's seriously amazing, gets five-star ratings, and he really looks out for his clients. I'm sure he'll take great care of you too, Hinata-chan!"

Hinata hummed, intrigued, to say the least.

With Sakura's words, they actually managed to alleviate the weight of anxiety from Hinata's shoulders.

Momentarily anyway.

A glimmer of relief washed over the midnight blue-haired woman as she sat and mulled over Sakura's assurance.

For a fleeting moment, Hinata permitted herself to entertain the hope that everything would turn out fine, that she was indeed in capable hands.

She desperately wanted to believe in Sakura, and in her words, to cling onto the reassurance she offered.

She tried to fight the anxiety.

She tried to fight the doubt.

She tried to push down those annoying feelings with all of her might.

But she couldn't keep them down for long.

Because just as she tried...

Just as she tried to think positive, other plaguing thoughts began to creep into her mind.

The most prominent one being the lingering issue at hand:

Her late personal trainer.

Once again, doubt and uncertainty came flooding back in, gnawing at her confidence and relief. And before she knew it, her mood shifted once again, simmering irritation bubbling up within her.

Now, she was annoyed.

Hinata couldn't help but feel as if her emotions were fluctuating as wildly as those of a pregnant woman, leaving her feeling completely disoriented.

She just wanted to go home.

Hinata gave her head another shake, her lavender eyes wandering around the gym yet again.

"I'm trying to believe you, Sakura-chan, I really am, demo..." She muttered into the phone with a groan.

"Gomen, Sakura-chan, I don't mean to offend you, but... I'm just not buying it " Hinata blurted out under her breath.

She was met with silence on the other end, so she continued.

"All the ex-excitement you're expressing about this 'mysteriously great' personal trainer doesn't convince me, especially since, let me remind you, he's running late," Hinata muttered impatiently.

"So unprofessional." She groaned under her lips.

Hinata has to be honest.

She actually harbored certain... preconceptions about personal trainers.

She actually saw them as intimidating military generals that barked constant orders at their trainees, permitted them no rest, and perhaps even pushed them past their breaking point.

It was her first experience with a personal trainer, and she wasn't quite sure what to expect.

Especially since her trainer is male!

It was all Sakura's fault.

She set her up—specifically assigning her a male personal trainer and deliberately not accompanying Hinata to the gym in person.

It was Sakura's idea of "treating her" to something nice for a change, but Hinata perceived it as nothing more than a tease, a curse, some form of punishment!

Sakura certainly knew that Hinata had always struggled with interacting with boys; now, as a woman, men were no exception.

Hinata hasn't dated anyone since high school, where she fooled around, experienced her firsts, and participated in all the awkward things typical of teenagers—experiences that, as an adult, tends to come back and haunt.

She blushed in embarrassment at the many memories that came to mind.

Now, as a woman, a busy woman to be exact, actively functioning with a demanding schedule in her daily work life, it seems she has neglected intimacy for so long that she doesn't even know how to approach men anymore.

She was a complete klutz around them, always making a fool of herself, stumbling over her words, and just being a total embarrassment to both herself and everyone around.

She whipped her head up once more, scanning the expansive area, shifting her gaze beyond equipment and moving bodies.

As if things couldn't get any worse, and her nerves couldn't intensify further, Hinata has been seated in the same spot for forty minutes now. Not once has she laid eyes on her personal trainer, at least, not the man that matches the description Sakura provided.

Once again, Hinata couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Typical Sakura, always so over the top.

For months, Sakura had been on Hinata's case about joining the gym, pushing her to quit hiding in the comfort of her home, to just give up on all those failed attempts to work out using her TV.

But given Hinata's clear disinclination, the gym wasn't exactly her comfort zone, and the idea of having a male personal trainer didn't align with her usual preferences.

Nevertheless, against all odds, Hinata found herself here, in the gym.

Her New Year's resolutions were now on the brink of transforming from mere overly optimistic thoughts dismissed on a day-to-day basis—into tangible reality.

Hinata groaned.

Yippee.

But... with her personal trainer nowhere in sight, she started to see it as a sign—an opportunity to rethink her rather bold decision.

Initially, she had doubts, but now she was finally giving in to those... doubts.

Hinata sighed, lifting her hips from her seat, "Ah well, he didn't show. I guess that means I'm leaving now-"

"No, no, no! Don't you dare!"

"Why not, Sakura-chan," Hinata snapped, flopping back down in her seat, "Obviously, the personal trainer you've recommended isn't top-notch, or he'd be here—on time." Hinata snapped.

She shook her head in frustration, her patience worn thin.

At this point, her lips began to move almost involuntarily, frustration blinding her to her surroundings. Words began to just slip out of her mouth now.

"Besides, isn't working here at the gym his job? Shouldn't he be here instead of slacking off-"

"Hi... nata Hyuga?"

Hinata's words came to an abrupt halt, as did her entire world, as an unfamiliar husky voice broke through her concentration, interrupting her phone call and well, her entire train of thought.

Hinata's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly whipped her head toward the culprit who called her name.

To her surprise, she found herself gazing into the bluest eyes she had ever seen.

It was a man.

But not any ordinary man.

From the instant Hinata set her eyes upon him, she found herself breathless.

The male newcomer bore a resemblance to a living, breathing statue. No, scratch that.

He looked like a model plucked from the glossy pages of the gym magazines prominently featured throughout the establishment.

Her lavender eyes widened, and she swiftly rose to a stand, "Oh my kami. G-Gomen, I didn't mean to s-say..." She cut herself off, covering her eyes with her hands, shaking her head.

"Oh kami, this is so embarrassing."

Another chuckle escaped the blonde, a hearty one that caused his chest to rumble.

His deep chuckle, along with the smooth richness of his voice, sent a barrage of shivers racing through Hinata's body, like a machine gun firing into her flesh.

The sound of his laughter hung in the air, teasingly so, intensifying the crimson blush that spread across her cheeks with each passing second.

Hinata peeked at him through the spaces between her fingers, attempting to hide the effect his captivating voice had on her.

He seemed to laugh at himself, and Hinata couldn't help the slight giggle that escaped her own lips.

"Then I thought to myself, oh, why would she have her hair down in the gym; it'll make sense for it to be up. Gah, you're such a baka," He chastised himself in the midst of his explanation, giving his forehead a slap with his free hand.

He shook his head.

"I even asked the receptionist where you'd gone, but uh," He leaned in, lowering his voice, "Don't tell anyone I told you this, but..." He trailed off, glancing around as though checking for any eavesdroppers.

Hinata giggled at that.

He turned back to her, "They were a little useless," He whispered with a groan, rolling his pretty blue eyes.

"And I'm just being generous by adding in the 'little.'"

"O-Oh," Hinata exclaimed, placing one hand over her mouth to hold back another giggle.

"Were they?"

"Yeah, unfortunately." The blonde gruffed.

"Receptionist couldn't remember if your hair was blue or black, or where you even went for the matter." He scoffed, "Complete bakas, I swear, the things I have to deal with," He playfully chastised, causing Hinata to burst into laughter.

"Eventually, I saw you, and your eyes, and well, everything started to make sense, haha!" The blonde boasted, running his hand back to nervously rub his neck, a sheepish smile playing on his lips.

"It seems my instincts were right, after all."

He nodded at her hair.

"Ya got your hair up."

Hinata's blush deepened.

But she couldn't ignore the twinge of guilt that lingered now that her trainer had actually explained why he was late.

He's totally innocent.

She felt terrible for badmouthing him.

The blonde trainer clicked his tongue, "So, the moral of my long and boring story is that I completely failed at making a great first impression."

He bowed low in respect, "Gomen, love."

Hinata had to bite back a smile upon hearing his words.

'Oh, I can most certainly disagree upon that.' She thought in her head.

"Eh?" Hinata questioned, straightening her posture in a flash.

His smirk widened, a confident expression.

"Naruto," The spiky-haired blonde repeated, his tone easygoing, "The name's Naruto."

He straightened his posture, gracing her with a warm smile, revealing his sharp canines.

Hinata's eyes widened.

"As your new personal trainer, it's my duty to make you as comfortable as possible, so feel free to call me by my first name, no formalities required."

"O-Oh okay," Hinata nervously replied, her eyes meeting Naruto's as he extended his hand.

With a shaky gesture, she reached out, her hand clasping within his warmth for a firm handshake.

Hinata stared at the massive hand that engulfed her own, experiencing the touch of a male's hand in hers for the first time in a long time.

She fell into a trance almost instantly.

'Sooo big,' She thought in awe, gazing at her blonde trainer's hand clasped in hers, the noticeable contrast making her own petite hand nearly disappear from view.

The blonde male gently shook her hand, rocking it up and down, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Hinata-san." He greeted, but he raised an eyebrow at her silence, her gaze seemingly stuck on their interlocked hands instead of meeting his own gaze.

He tilted his head, "You are Hinata Hyuga, correct?" His gaze bore into her, seeking confirmation.

Hinata jolted from her trance by such a question, her head snapping back up to face him.

At that moment, she became acutely aware of the significant height difference between herself and her new trainer, who completely towered over her.

Standing a full head taller than her, his torso loomed above her sad 5'3" frame, putting her height to shame.

She was forced to tilt her head back considerably to meet his gaze.

Hinata reciprocated the handshake, presenting one of her own sincere smiles as well.

Her flushed cheeks rose, revealing the natural warmth of her expression, and her pearly whites.

"H-Hai, I-I'm Hinata Hyuga."

Her lavender eyes sparkled, "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Naruto-san."

Kinda disappointing to see how much hate this arc is getting tbh. I’ve seen a lot of people say “there’s no risk” or that “it’s dragging on too long.”

Why do so many shonen bros insist on people having to die left and right for the series to be enjoyable? The story is set in semi-modern day so just murdering people isn’t really normalized like in stories like aot, naruto or jjk where they’re in kill or be killed situations with non-human or inhumane characters.

Also have people just forgotten that all the villains are serial killers? Minus like spinner? People HAVE died. An entire town got wiped out by shigaraki and re-destro a few arcs ago. They’re literally in a post apocalyptic landscape and mfs are convinced no one has died? Why’re people mad that the main characters are able to save people they care about? You don’t think it weighs on them that they weren’t able to save everybody?

And about the series dragging on too long, I kinda agreed at first until I started re reading the arc. I think it only feels long cuz we’re all waiting a week at a time to read the next chapter but if you read it all back to back it really doesn’t feel long since most of the chapters in this arc have been 15 pages or less as opposed to 20+ pages in previous arcs.

MHA 428 spoilers:

Annnnnd here comes the doom posting.....

Remember: Be patient. The chapter ended on a cliffhanger. we don't know what's going to happen. Things were left unanswered and that translator knows that, they're just feeding into the fire. All midoriya did was notice that the girl was feeling was feeling down (because of toga). Remember, it has been implied that midoriya is feeling down because he failed to save tenko, and he's likely noticing that ochako's feeling down because she thinks that she failed to save toga. I'm not feeling a "izch implication/canon" vibe coming from chapter 428. I feel like horikoshi is trolling. he's making us feel that way, just for him to once again, deny the trope of those two being together. There was no implication that Midoriya was looking at her and saying "I got to tell her how I feel (in a romantic way)". Like hori has done this before. Remember ochako's apology and everyone thought that midoriya wanting to go say thank you to her, meant that it was going to imply izch, and then it turned out to be extremely plationic?

Thank the Lord he did the last break week after 427. I can't even imagine what could've happened if he done the break week after this chapter....

Imo, if toga is dead, why wont horikoshi just show her dying??? we've each and every other villain who died, die. We all thought that dabi was implied to be dead, just for his ass to still be alive on a machine lol. Ochako only remembers toga crying and smiling, she never said she saw her die. Hori also said that cameras cut off before we could see what happened after the twice clones disappeared. Again, toga was no where to be found when the people took ochako away in a helicopter. He's did not confirm that girl is dead. The leak translator said that it was semi-canon, not horikoshi.

Like usually I doom post for a minute and then get over it. But I have the biggest gut feeling that hori is literally just playing for shits and giggles. I am not getting this vibe that this is going to be a "Toga's dead, now turns out that midoriya loved ochako this whole time and now they're going to have children" thing. I'm just not having that vibe. This could be another trope subversion (And this is coming from someone that knew deep down that NH/SS was canon back in naruto chapter 678/685, but was in huge denial until chapter 699/700 was leaked).

I'm not going to blame anyone for thinking that it's over for bkdkbk. After thinking about it, I understand why some are posting like the straight ending was confirmed. It's not the first time that it's happened. So I'll not let myself get upset. People are seeing this chapter and are reliving that "shonen MC ends w/female love interest who he never really acknowledged" moment, and I don't blame them for thinking that. It's a common trope, not only in shonen, but in a lot of media where the character who has a stronger/homoerotic relationship with their best friend, is made to end up with someone they don't ever think about.

I'm just going to try to give some hope to some bkdks feeling down: All I'll say to think about everything that has happened and think about how hori did this chapter. It doesn't seem likely that izch was implied. Please be patient. the leaks just dropped. Patience. Like from the dreamgirls song lol

Reddit Talk: Amy Rose Compared to Shounen stereotype? Lol no (a part of my Future Character Assassination of Amy Rose post)

First of comparing amy to shounen heroines is like comparing water to sand. The majority of shounen heroines have very littler personality or fleffort put into them. 1998 is when adventure cwme out. What shounen heroines around then have anything in common with Amy Rose? They have to strive for independence, be bubbly, girly, dedicated to one boy who they love and obsess over while also being selfless and compassionate to others in need. Willing to stand up to the one they love for what they believe in amd willing to see the good even in villains who have antagonized them. This caries over into adventure 2 and heroes at least.

If anything she has more in common (but no enough to hit the stereotype markers) with well known shoujo protagonists such a Sailor Moon, Kotoko Aihara, and Tohru Honda. The first 2 being credited with starting the immature, stupid and lovesick heroine craze of the time. All 3 are significantly different then ewchother and Amy but are well known characters from this time that she can be compared to easily. Love, selflessness, dedication to what they believe is right are common traits in at at least 2 of those 3 and Amy.

Sonic era amy did have a few more shounen strokes thrown in due to the anime. With a little sass and temper thrown into the mix for slapstickk humor. But it is also around this time sega started letting sonic be shown to reciprocate her feelings, as shown by sonic x series 1 finale, sonic unleashed, sonic and the black night.

I'll give you two shounen heroines examples from this time. One done wrong and one done right. Amy can easily be compared to Sakura Haruno. Sakura started out around the same time as adventure luckily wnd you can easily see some similarities. Pink hair, green eyes red dress in love with a cool blue boy (seriously sakura was a major amy rip off which is why i loved her). Here's where they differ though. Sakura femininity was portrayed as a weakness, she was characterized as shallow, and her intelligence and talents were often ignored. Amy wasn't depicted as fairly intelligent back then. She mainly intuition, nor was she semi violent like Sakura, then came in with the sonic x influence. While Sakura was a weak cry baby who couldn't establish independence Amy immediately did. Now around the time of sonic x and part 2 of naruto they have more in common. Like I said the slaptick humor and violence trope. Being more aggressive overall but Ironically the thing these two have the most in common is toxicity and sexism in the fandom derailing their character growth. Sakura only had one fight of substance in part 2 and kishimoto kept flailing to make Sakura appear to his fans until he derailed his plans for her repeatedly ruining her character. Ironically a fate similar to what Amy is now going through.

Now let's loon at soul eater. A shounen series with well written female characters fulfilling a variety a tropes. But I'll compare Amy to the primary lead Maka Albarn. Absolutely only one thing in common besides slapstick humor moments. That would be a willingness to reachout with empathy to an inititally villainous character. Maka is not a girly girl in anyway. She's a headstrong woman on a mission with daddy issues. Nor is romance a primary focus of her character.

Also lol modern amy is way more sterilized then a modern day shounen protagonist and has way too little personality to be compared to a shoujo one. She's solely made for the sterilized girl boss age American audience where female characters have no personality or faults or character trwights beyond beingg a voice of reason for the boys and being there just to be a girl character. I.e. what Gwen tensyson was reduced to and many more female characters in the u.s.

I can keep going but this discussion is always the same trite nonsense at the end of the day. Oh well, more work has at least been completed for my eventual post on the character assassination of Amy Rose post I'll eventually put on my Tumblr. Thanks for the shounen anime spin. That was at least a new and incredibly faulty take

Camouflaging Semi-Plurality, The Shapeshifter Shenanigans

(Cross-posted from my dreamwidth, link in title)

There has been something going on with muis for a while now.

Wei think it's something that's been slowly growing.

And the timing of it happening was muddled a bit with shapeshifter shenanigan that also was further getting mixed up by a certain subconscious need to anchor the form.

See, for a short while now, the profile picture of muis being in the Core Form doesn't feel right, it verges on dysphoria. And with a need to draw myself as Fae Dragon form, somehow wei found muirselves anchored into the Fae Dragon. It probably is the longest time wei got anchored into a form. Usually it takes a day or two at the most for us to feel a sort of itching that bordered on dysmorphia. This time, we are anchored into the Fae Dragon form for nearly two weeks. Wei are rather baffled by this whole situation. The Core Form is my base form, Akumu's only form, there has never been a problem of outright discomfort with my Core Form.

Now, after the anchor is being lifted, wei suddenly find ourselves adrift, lost. Wei've tried on many form proxy, but nothing feels Right. Wei just could not figure it out. Yet wei still don't quite want to be in the Core Form.

At some point in the day, wei just randomly decides to finally uses the semi-plural pronouns. It was enlightening in a way, empowering. It felt right.

Then wei realize, oh, so that's what's going on. Wei probably reached a point where this, whatever this can be called, quoisinglet, maybe-median, semi-plurality, is just a thing. Maybe I've been slowly giving the others more sense of self by being reacquainted with them. But at this point, who even knows. Now wei short of just exist together. Wei still are largely okay with just being seen as Ryuu, because that's who wei are, collectively, individually. Wei are a mess that makes sense to muis, and wei all are dream dragon.

Akumu's name is from Akumu Ryuu, the nightmare dragon, and I am Yume Ryuu, dream dragon, but Yume is rather feminine while Ryuu is masculine. Wei'd argued somewhat for a time that Akumu can call himself Ryuu too, because it's his name as well. Meanwhile, I wasn't comfortable being referred to as Yume, even if I think I should be, it's just Akumu! I should be fine with him using it! But I wasn't.

Beast was The Beast. Because that is what it is, a sort of manifestation of my inner rage, spite, anger, maybe my ferality. Considering it is nonverbal, and very much on the more feral side from the mental expression it tosses at us. While I use the most words, Akumu would communicate linguistically as well, Beast just makes noises and broadcast abstract feelings to us.

Note that we all use different pronouns. Which is something that stands out to muis. It's nothing unique, but it's still intriguing to muis.

Beast also have more of a urge to express things more individually, say, wanting to have its own blog. I have only clearly remember one instance where I wasn't at the front, because wei are uncertain if such switch happened when wei are younger, but the one time wei can remember, it was Akumu who was guiding the body. I was still kind of aware that I was not in control. It was too short a moment, but wei had captured it. It's rather curious, looking back at it now, and sort of ironic. Because Akumu is more individualistic, he is the actual opposite of me, my mirror self, my shadow, but spends more time being a part of me. It probably likened a co-fronting experience, or wei just merge back together and then later separate into individuals again. For Beast, who actually is born from a part of me, acts far more distinct the way Akumu isn't. Akumu disappears a lot, I couldn't tell if wei are merged back together, or if he just went elsewhere. I'm somehow certain both scenarios are true. The Beast spends pretty much all the time in its own nested cave within the mindscape. Wei feel kind of like the Jinchuuriki in Naruto, that I'm "hosting" Beast. In this case, no one is sealed into anybody, nobody is being sacrificed, and wei are all nonhuman.

That's a doozy, or punny? Because I am Naruto hearted, and that is a big possibility why Beast formed like this. I am also the host of the body.

Either way, it's interesting how we got to this point. It's likely due to this that the shapeshifter feeling went a little haywire. Because I as Ryuu is fluid in my forms, but Akumu and Beast are not. They each came to existence already settled with one of my forms. Beast shares my Large Formme, quadrupedal, large, the typical western view of dragon. Akumu being my opposite, shares my Core Form but sort of mirrored in color scheme. Maybe because I am experiencing change constantly, the others stayed fixed to balance me. All of these reacting with the recent awareness of this semi-plurality may have, dare wei say, upset the balance.

Wei are a large believer of Balance, wei are also confident that this will sort itself out in no time, reaching the state of equilibrium within.

3) What fandoms do you write for? Quite a couple now! And amazingly I have even more unposted. The Hobbit, Fallout 4, The Old Guard, Supernatural, The Legend of Zelda, Full Metal Alchemist, Greedfall, BG3, Horizon: zero dawn, uhhhhh.

4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1 - Lingua Franca (by a landslide)

2 - Soil and Ashes

4 - what you call a thing is seldom what it is

5 - Prima Lingua (I was surprised this wasn't higher up given that its connected to Lingua Franca)

5) Do you respond to comments? I try really hard but usually end up responding very late in bursts. If you've commented on my work and haven't received a reply... i'm working on it. I will get there eventually. This is a turtle vs hare situation.

6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?...This is hard cause most of my fics are unfinished as of right now but.... I think Lacuna for posted but unfinished fics and uh. two of my so far unposted BG3 fics will take the running once they get posted.

7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? A lot of them could probably be considered the "happiest" mostly cause i usually make the characters go through the worst of it right before the resolution so comparatively they're happy. >.>

8) Do you get hate on fics? So far no, maybe the occasional pedantic comment that i just... ignore. I think LF was the only fic where I had to deal with that. Perks of being relatively small in fandoms.

9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nah, not my cup of tea.

10) Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? The only one I've written I think is the Hob Gadling meets Sebastian Le Livre and become immortal drinking buddies. That's only been posted here on tumblr though.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope, I'd be open to the idea of any of my writer buds want to try something low stakes for fun and giggles.

14) What’s your all time favorite ship? I'm not sure I could answer this one cause I'll immediately think of another ship the moment I try and define a favorite ship for 'all time'. Which is great cause there's so many good fandoms and ships out there, what a cool thing to never run out of.

15) What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I also am not a super big fan of this question cause sometime a fic needs years to crystalize into what its supposed to be and we're all doing this for fun/for free... sooooooo you get what you get, and WIPs aren't worth less to the fandom just because they're incomplete.

16) What are your writing strengths? Making people cry (hopefully)

17) What are your writing weaknesses? Anything resembling a consistent writing or posting schedule.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? You ask this as if I didn't do a ton of research and base my own knowledge of linguistics to write semi-coherent lingurian in Lingua Franca. If I feel I can pull it off to some degree and it adds to the story? oh hell yes. It's also one of my favorite literary devices in fic and in shows (I'm looking at you Shogun 2024, you beautiful beautiful tv show on the intrigue of translation)

19) First fandom you wrote for? uhhhh. Naruto on like, fanfic.net for the super old stuff. The hobbit for my modern era lmao.

20) Favorite fic you’ve written? I don't have a favorite, I think? My brain just kind of demands I make up stories and like, I am a happier person having made up stories so I do that. Each story has something I absolutely adore about it that I needed to explore but none of them are my absolute favorite above the others.

I'm a very laidback/low pressure roleplayer. I don't do fancy formatting aside from some bolding and/or italics and making the font a bit smaller, and I'm not hella active. (I don't mind people who use heavy formatting, though.) I'm not going to hunt you down for a reply after two days or two months, and I don't care if you've been MIA for a year then come back and post a response. Shit happens and I'm fine with it!

I generally write a couple paragraphs, semi-literate to literate, and omniscient third-person. However, I'm fine with matching length for longer posts. I don't really care if people match my length, so long as you're not giving me, like, two sentences to my four paragraphs. lol

On memes: I reblog memes to the hub blog, and all memes are open to ANY muse unless the tags state otherwise.

On NSFW: I'm open to PG-13 or occasionally even R-rated threads in established ships with writing partners I'm comfortable with. They'll always be put under a read more and tagged appropriately, and are only an option on muses who are 18+. (Also I do not feel comfortable aging up characters for the purpose of smut.)

On shipping: I ship chemistry only. I do not write romantic ships for muses who are underage.

A list of AUs and small description of what is going on/his role in these AUs. The names are the tags I try to use when taking part of these AUs. Some of these have been made in collaboration with moots! Will continued to be added too the more aus that are developed.

I 100% endorse being asked in character questions for these aus but to please put in (parentheses) before or after the question so we can keep things easy and clear.

he be livin au: An au where Jiraiya lived through his fight with Pain. This usually includes permanent damage to him sometimes the wounds change as we believe some butterfly effects take place when we change things like this.

hokage au: hokage!Jiraiya. Very different depending on when he is Hokage. As the fourth in stead of Minato he is of course younger, more enthusiastic and level headed. He’s very active in his role and does his upmost best to maintain peace. If promoted as the Fifth he is very different. If post Minato he is very depressed and apathetic, letting the elders and others control mostly everything. If post Hiruzen he isn’t as depressed but is more on edge, feeling the pressure more to do well post a massive attack on the village and his old teammate at the source of continuing issues. We’ll differ with tags like lord4th and lord5th

modern au: it varies. Sometimes he’s a professor to a college course. Other times he’s a writer that lives mostly to canon, drifting and traveling for inspiration. Def has a semi celeb social media presence and posts like every other over 40 year old.

veteran au: similarly set to mod au but he was decommissioned from the military young due to severe injuries(aka akin to Pain fight). Usually a young!Jiraiya au.

actor au: an au that’s a little meta. Where Naruto is a show and everyone is actors. Or an actor in general without the meta stuff lol. It gets a little confusing if one wants to change the characters names or not to make it make better sense in context to it being for acting for Naruto. Could be a fun challenge tho too!

sheikah au: BOTW Universe Sheikah inspired. If in wilds era an unusual Sheikah man that travels the wilds rather than stay in the village. If set before The Calamity he is similar to Impa, being an advisory/representative of his race to the royal family almost like a sage. He’s a little fascinated and creeped out by the ancient tech.

same age au: varies on partner’s preference. Could be set when he is young or when the canon starts. Can be by plot device magic that teleports or deages or character was simply born in that TL

fallen au: in which he is an inch from insanity, a dark hallow shell driven by mostly his whims and bloodlust. A fight hungry, hard to reason with, and acts mostly on instinct Jiraiya. A corrupted version of himself. Typically used for villain aus as well.

3h au: au based on fire emblem 3h. He’s a mysterious knight that was one of the original successes of the blood experiments done by those who slither in the dark. He doesn’t talk about it and will not disclose what his crest is.

mafia au: a bruiser, a bodyguard, an infiltrator. More of a high level henchman than a leader. Does whatever is asked of him. Typically wears suits and complete with beautiful traditional Japanese style tattoos. monster au: any au where he’s a monster. Down to clown with most any kind of monster.

royalty au: can be a variety of things ngl. He can be a king or prince. Usually I put him as being a child far down the line or a bastard son. Usually he’s forgotten or mistreated, or took the crown by force. Or sometimes a lord that is in council with royalty.

concubine au: he’s a concubine. What more do you want 😭? Can be used for sub or dom uses. Is usually pretty obedient if treated and talked to with basic decency. But feisty and a troublemaker if forced in the roll.

prostitute au: can be a buyer or a seller. Always had a plan in mind he turned to it when he’s that desperate for money. Plus I imagine some enemies would enjoy taking advantage of it lol.

a/b/o au: he’s an alpha. Not as domineering or controlling as other alphas but still serves dom.

resurrection au: by edo tensai he comes back perhaps during the war or in Boruto era for a temporary time. Or if Orochimaru had perfected a more permanent jutsu to raise the dead it would be for a long time.

reincarnation au: maybe in boruto era or something but a young Jiraiya walking around with fragments of his old life still in tact. Certain conversations or actions could trigger him to remember.

yandere au: he a lil cray cray and cray cray for you ❤️ his drive and obsession is sparked by the fear of his obsession dying or getting hurt. So he would kill anyone for them.

Hello there... I am Az, Azion or Azzy. Honestly call me whichever you would like. I go by She/Her + They/Them pronouns! I don't really like labeling myself if I am honest so please respect that! Physical Health.

As for my conditions I have chronic vertigo/dizziness, chronic migraines, I am severely lactose intolerant and suffer from Amplified Pain Syndrome in my hands and feet (So it hurts to walk, type, write or hold things even though there is nothing physically wrong with them!) I also am chronically tired/fatigued but the doctors don't have answer for that. Yay!

Anime and Manga Log [5/28/23]

Over the years I’ve thought about doing a blog to post my thoughts about various manga and anime. Recently my good buddy @silvertsundere started a weekly AniManga post where he posts some short thoughts each week. I however, usually have a lot to say. It would take me forever to write up long discussions about every single chapter update I read each week. So I’ll be picking out a few titles to talk about each week. From Jump I will discuss my weekly top 3 and anything else I want to talk about.

Weekly Shonen Jump has been the core of my reading diet for nearly 15 years now. I have been following Shonen Jump since the mid-2000s when Viz was releasing the print magazine. Later around mid-2008 and into 2009 I got into Ohba and Obata’s Bakuman. This lead me to learning about the toc rankings and I started following the magazine religiously. I love the raw energy of a Shonen Jump series. Due to the competitive nature of its ranking system the series are always trying to improve themselves and catch the readers off guard. There’s nothing else quite like it. In comparison, Shonen Magazine series frequently have an emphasis on romance (and fan service) or its a sports manga. Shonen Sunday titles are usually very chill. They prefer to develop characters at a slow natural pace. Jump series always have something happening since losing readership could cost them a position in the magazine. I’ve been entertained by series of all genres short and long out of Jump. In fact it was talking about Nisekoi that made my Tumblr blog semi-famous in 2014-16. The creed of “Friendship! Effort! Victory!” will never fail you. I’m currently reading everything from Weekly Shonen Jump, most Jump+ titles, and a few other series from other magazines. My Kodansha reads are paused at the moment because KManga is a bad app. The only Shonen Sunday series I am caught up with is Frieren (on hiatus). Eventually I’ll get caught up with a few others so I can follow Viz Media simuls. I generally only read official releases and prefer to keep scanlations to a minimum.

So without further ado, discussion for the series listed below are under the Keep Reading. I’m hoping to make this a weekly post going forward. There will be spoilers and opinions below. Be warned.

- Sakamoto Days Ch.120 - Blue Box Ch.102 - Cipher Academy Ch.25 - Naruto: Konoha Story Ch.15 [END] - Pokemon Horizons Ep.8 - Soaring Sky! Precure Ep.17

Sakamoto Days 120: Sakamoto Days is the mindless action series in the line-up right now. Its very much inspired by movies like John Wick. Lately we’ve been a backstory about Uzuki and Sakamoto’s relationship. The biggest selling point of the series is Suzuki’s endless creative imagination of cool set pieces. They never cease to amaze me with how the character interact with the location to defeat their opponent. If I had to guess, the series is about halfway complete right now. Still a ways to go, but plotlines are starting to center around the baddie of the series. This week’s chapter finished the backstory with a fight between Sakamoto and Uzuki. Instead of the grand speculate we usually have, this fight was more grounded. No dialogue for half the chapter. Just a rapid exchange of blows. Leaving the backstory in Uzuki’s pov shows this how incident is still something he thinks about, and connects his character to Sakamoto. I always look forward to reading this series. When is the anime going to be announced? Blue Box 102: The series just cleared its 2nd anniversary and its going as strong as ever. Blue Box is a slow burn romance following our main couple struggling in sports and love. Its a story filled with youth and presented with the thin loose line work of Kouji Miura. She always puts an emphasis on capturing a character’s expressions in the moment. It will frequently hold a reaction shot to show specific mannerisms. Lately, the series has been gearing up for a long awaited confession between Taiki and Chinatsu. Its been a long time coming, though I am unsure if the series will actually do it. Rom-Coms aren’t known for changing the status quo in the middle of the series. This week’s chapter teases our main couple being much closer than they imagined in terms of proximity. They’re both unknowingly to the other in the same area. That’s lead Taiki on a fast sprint to catch up with Chinatsu. Will they meet each other or just barely miss? Its hard to say. The scenery shot of the frozen lake in this week’s chapter was very pretty. Cipher Academy 25: The return of Nisioisin to Jump was near the top of my wish list, and I can confidently say he’s been delivering week after week. The story is about an academy of code solvers where literally every single thing is decided by your ability to decode a puzzle. It’s such a Nisioisin concept. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be catching on with readers. Cipher Academy has been ranking low in the toc rankings. The recent chapters have been getting down to business with moving the plot to its ultimate goal of unearthing the big Crypto collection (yes you read right that, Nisio is writing about Crypto of all things) hidden deep within the academy. The leading Class Private of each class are going to participate in a tournament arc to determine the “Code Emperor”. Now admittedly for a manga about codes, they don’t matter that much in the grand scheme of the writing. The codes are always plot devices for the characters to interact around. Nisio’s greatest strength of conveying character traits with eccentric dialogue is very much here, and with the added visual language of Iwasaki art. Together they compliment each other quite well. But anyhow, Nisio tournament arc sounds like its going to be exciting. Iroha is going to have to put his brain into overdrive to outwit his peers. Don’t get cancelled on me Cipher Academy!

Naruto: Konoha Story Ch.15 [END] This finishes the pair of Naruto Light Novel manga adaptations that began last fall. Konoha Story was previously adapted into Boruto so I was already familiar with the story. It followed Mirai learning to believe in herself more and discovering the legacy she’s been left. Throughout the story we had cameos from several old character each of whom imparted some wisdom into Mirai. Sadly, it falls into the trap of all post-Naruto. They rely on recycling old plotlines instead of pushing the canon forward. In this case because the story is about Mirai and since Asuma died to Hidan, from the Jishin cult, Mirai has to face someone from the cult in modern day. Luckily, Kishimoto left a good foundation with the team 10 dynamics for the story to work with. At the very least Mirai’s character feel more natural in the world and something we were bound to see at some point. Overall, enjoyable and the manga was a nice way to experience the story again. [Final Score: 6/10]

Pokemon Horizons Ep.8: We’re two months into the new Pokemon anime and its finishing the prologue phase of the story. We’ve had intro arcs for both Riko and Roy. They each have an ancient artifact that’s sure to connect to a bigger plot. We know very little about the villain group right now. However, its still been great so far! First, its refreshing to have a female protagonist for a change and have main characters who can have organic character development. I guess placing them both school better connects to the target audience and game characters. Poor Riko only got to spend 1 episode in school before getting swept up in the plot. I appreciate slower pace of long running anime. Episode 8 focused on the streamer character Dot. She’s a shy in person, but puts on a high energy performance on the internet. Similar to the seiyuu’s counterpart in Bocchi. Exciting things are ahead as the gang is about to land in Paldea.

Soaring Sky! Precure Ep.17: I started watching Precure weekly during the 15th anniversary series Hugtto, and here we are at the 20th series Soaring Sky. Precure series often have some of the most solid character writing among airing shows. Unlike 1 cour incomplete adaptations, Precure gets 4 whole cours to flesh out its characters. Soaring Sky is a return to form with a focus on a central main duo and hand to hand combat. The cure designs are better made than usual for animation. That allows for most episodes to feature some nice movement or character acting when it matters most, as seen once again in this week’s episode. Sora was tasked running a relay, and she wanted Mashiro to be the one passing the baton. It was a cute story that once again reinforces the friendship bond shared between our duo. Despite monster fight feeling tacked onto the scenario this week, it featured some slick movements. Next episode is the long awaited debut of Cure Butterfly. Ageha can finally start on Precure adventures as one of the squad.
