Well Drawfee is officially no longer safe media for me :(
Karina liked multiple tweets conflating a PSA for antisemitism with Israeli propaganda and claiming that Israel planned its assault to coincide with the superbowl…
Julia liked posts claiming that the war isn’t a war. Nobody has liked anything about antisemitism or even acknowledging Jews are in danger right now.
TBH I’m devastated.
I have Drawfee art all over my home. I was actually gonna become a patron this year. I’d literally been saving to make it feasible. This is crushing. I feel sick.
#leftist antisemitism#antisemitism#drawfee#heartbroken#debated putting this in the Drawfee tag or not#but ultimately I think it’s important#I don’t wanna start fandom drama or Discourse TM#I just want there to be a record of how their silence on antisemitism#and liking of conspiratorial tweets#is affecting a very fragile community#and Nathan being Jewish doesn’t change this for me#his Jewishness does not shield me from his coworkers antisemitism#even though I wanna believe that antisemitism is unintentional#and I’m so happy for Nathan if he feels supported by his friends and coworkers#he obviously knows them better than I ever will#and I’m not calling in Jews to take sides over this or anything#I’m happy that Nathan doesn’t seem to be affected by this#it must mean he has a wonderful support system and that his friends and coworkers are better#at showing their support irl than they are online#and that is important and valid#but it doesn’t change how it affects Jews like me who only experience them through a screen#and do not have a support system#they don’t owe me anything#I don’t expect anything from any of them#but I also cannot deny that I am harmed#by the fact that they didn’t acknowledge the conflict until it affected people who aren’t Jewish#and have still not acknowledged that it affects people who are Jewish#and I especially cannot handle Karina’s clear support for the idea that a Super Bowl PSA for antisemitism prevention#is somehow a sinister Israeli plot and not evidence of the terrible time that Jews like me are having rn#I feel like I lost a friend tbh

US military helicopter collides with passenger jet in Washington DC (VIDEOS)
A Bombardier plane with 64 people on board has crashed into the Potomac River after a midair collision with a US Army Black Hawk
A regional passenger plane collided midair with a US military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Wednesday night, prompting the suspension of all flights from the airport and a large-scale emergency response. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that a Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft operated by PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, flying in from Kansas, was approaching Reagan National when it collided with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter around 9pm local time. There were 60 passengers and four crew members on board the civilian aircraft, according to American Airlines. The US Army helicopter had a crew of three and was not carrying any VIPs, a US defense official told CNN. The number of fatalities remains unclear, as emergency personnel from multiple agencies continue the search for possible survivors.

New Jersey congressman calls on FAA to release more details on drone activity after White House statement
FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A local congressman isn't satisfied with the White House's answers about the mysterious drones seen across New Jersey skies late last year.
Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said most of the drones were "authorized to be flown by the [Federal Aviation Administration] for research and various other reasons," and many additional sightings were simply hobbyists. Officials did not disclose exactly what kind of research the drones might have been used for, however. New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat, said that just adds another level of confusion.
President Trump Announces 30,000-Bed Guantanamo Bay Facility to Hold Most Dangerous Illegals
President Donald J. Trump announced he is signing an executive order directing the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to open a 30,000-bed detention facility on the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to hold illegal immigrants deemed a danger to the American public.
According to Trump, the facility will house violent and dangerous illegal immigrants as they await deportation to secure countries where they will remain. “Today I’m also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay—most people don’t even know about it,” Trump said while speaking at the White House bill signing of the Laken Riley Act.
Far-Left Journo Admits ‘No Country’ Can Deal With ‘An Influx of Millions’ of Migrants
Far-left Al Jazeera journalist Julia Galiano unwittingly admits that no country can adequately deal with the negative consequences of mass immigration while defending Mexico’s resistance to accepting illegal immigrants being mass deported by U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
Galiano—who reports from Cuba under its authoritarian and anti-American communist regime—contends Mexico is unable to cope with the economic and societal impact the sudden influx of deportees will have. “Mexico cannot cope—I’m not sure any country can—but Mexico can’t cope with, like, a sudden influx of millions of people. I mean, as much as [Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum] wants to ’embrace’ them—to use her word—when they come back and make them feel welcome,” Galiano said on The Take, a daily news podcast hosted by Al Jazeera. “It all sounds very nice when you’re listening to it. But the reality of that is just completely unsustainable.”

a tower of asexual history at a very queer college
Alternate title: Look at this house that an aroace architect designed for a lesbian doctor couple in 1915!
But first let's talk about this amazing woman.
It's relevant today, on International Asexuality Day 2022, because it basically launched Julia Morgan's career. And, I believe, Julia Morgan was aroace.
It's relevant in general right now, because the Board's deal with Northeastern has to go through a ton of regulatory approvals. And the deal isn't done until it closes.
We still have time to save Mills.
But first, let's talk about this amazing woman.
Julia Morgan isn't the only famous person whose career was launched at Mills. Not by a very long shot.
But in 1897, she was the first woman at UC Berkeley to earn a civil engineering degree.
And then, the first woman admitted to the prestigious architecture program at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
In 1904, she became the first licensed woman architect in California, and started her own architectural firm.
But it was in 1903 that Susan Mills hired her to design the first free-standing bell tower on a college campus.
In 1906, a massive earthquake brought the area to its knees.
But the Campanil at Mills College stood proudly above it all.
It takes great inner power to go against everything that society pushes onto you.
It's a lot like keeping your balance during an earthquake.
I don't recommend that you stay standing during an earthquake, of course. Stop, drop, and roll, or whatever.
[this is not what you do during an earthquake, you get under something strong like a desk or doorway so that nothing falls on you. if you are outdoors, get away from tall things that might fall over. if you're in a car, pull over and stop. this has been your california earthquake PSA. we now return you to the post you were reading which is already in progress]
The ground shimmies under you during an earthquake.
At least, it does during the fairly minor ones I've experienced. Jelly-like, destabilizing, and unannounced.
The ground shimmies under you when you're queer, trans, and/or intersex, too.
It's hard to get a stable foothold.
It's hard to find your center.
Julia Morgan was coming of age at a time of both wonderful freedom and great restriction.
Her father was evidently both terrible at business, and unlucky in it. Her rich mother ran both the family, and its finances.
Julia witnessed the strength and power of women on a daily basis -- and encouragement in her own strengths, to boot.
When she was six, she met a New York cousin-in-law who was a successful architect: Pierre Le Brun. They became great friends. He sparked her interest in architecture, and strongly encouraged her to pursue higher education.
She turned out to be brilliant at math, and her mother supported her study of it.
Upon Julia's 1890 graduation from Oakland High School, her mother suggested a debutante coming-out party to announce her eligibility for marriage.
Julia successfully argued that she should start a career first -- and that she should be allowed to go to college.
There was no architecture program at Berkeley then, but famed architect Bernard Maybeck was teaching geometry there. Julia was a star student in his class, and became one of "his boys," the students he treated as his architectural protegés.
She truly had all the luck (and wealth) that her father lacked. Both Maybeck and le Brun had gone to the École des Beaux-Arts, and both encouraged her to go herself, because it was the best possible education in architecture... and had just been rumored to have started considering admitting women.
(Thanks to a union of women artists founded in 1881: the Union des femmes peintres et sculpteurs.)
Julia was able to sail to France and live there long enough to learn French and study for the rigorous entrance exam. The school would only take the top 30 candidates in each exam.
She failed it the first time.
The second time, she made it into the top 30, but her scores were artificially deflated after the fact.
The third time, she was 13th, and they finally let her in, in part because Maybeck wrote to one of the finest young architects in France and got him to start a group for women.
And because the school's tradition was to grade students' work anonymously, she was able to stand on her own merits. She graduated in three and a half years, instead of the usual six.
People have struggled to decide what Julia Morgan was for decades. Did she eschew romance so that she could keep working? Did she avoid publicity in order to cover up lesbian affairs? Was she married to her career, simply too busy to meet anybody?
A few pieces identify her as a lesbian. The most concrete theory links her name with that of queer director Dorothy Arzner. But Arzner's partner was Marion Morgan.
And Victoria Kastner writes, "[Julia Morgan] has even been co-opted as a designer of 'queer space,' an assertion based not on evidence about her sexual preferences—for nothing supports this claim—but solely on the sensuality of her extraordinary swimming pools."
You know how allosexism and heterosexism are. If it's sensuous, it must be sexual. If its sexual, the straights perceive it as dirty. If it's sexual and dirty, it must be gay. And if it's sexless, it must again be unnatural, queer.
If that gets queer people credit for this incredible mosaic, around and within the indoor pool at Hearst Castle, I'll take it.
Kastner isn't wrong, just straight. Julia Morgan created queer spaces because she was queer.
In fact, reading between the lines suggests that many of Morgan's commissions were For the Queers.
For instance, she designed a home for "Malcolm [Goddard, a very rich lifelong bachelor who] mysteriously remained single, his much publicized and long-awaited 1913 nuptials having fallen through without so much as a murmur in the press."
And many for unmarried women. Miss Jessie D. Wallace. Miss N. Drown. Miss H. Hitchcock.
Then there's the obvious credit: she designed a very queer house for queer women.
"The [Six Acres] house plan [designed by a famous pair of women architects in Edmonton, Canada, for themselves] suggests that they used the ground floor as their living quarters and the basement as their architectural office. Today, upon entering the house, one is faced first and directly with a sign, 'Imrie-Wallbridge Office,' obscuring any other functional attribution to the space.
"As Annmarie Adams notes with reference to Henry Urbach’s article entitled 'Peeking at Gay Interiors,' this disguise or 'double-sidedness' was a common feature in 'purpose-built, queer, domestic architecture, designed by famous architects,' as was the case in the house Julia Morgan designed for physicians Clara Williams and Elsie Mitchell in California in 1915."
In Morgan's version, 834 Santa Barbara in Berkeley, there was a "medical office, located immediately inside the front door, disguising their domestic partnership in the same way Urbach has noted that the homes of gay couples today are often purposefully camouflaged by professional partnerships.”
The two separate bedrooms both connected to a third, master bedroom.
(And look at all their bookshelves! There are even more in other rooms.)
Cottagecore may belong to the lesbians, but I'm claiming whatever this is for the aros and aces.
(It's Arts and Crafts, but that doesn't lend itself well to a... maybe craftcore?)
Julia Morgan herself lived (one version of what I think of as) the aroace life.
Something about her just neatly repelled all ideas of a traditional relationship.
She was not interested in that life, and she brooked no discussion.
She had tons of work, but didn't care about money. She rented out rooms in her own house to other working women.
To me, that evokes the isolation that can come from our allocentric society. That's one way we fight it: by renting out rooms to other people like us, by sharing what we have with each other. Mutual aid is queer love. And I think that for many a-specs, it's one of our main kinds of queer love, our whole lives.
She treated her clients with respect and dignity, collaborating with them as if they were her equals.
To me, that evokes both an autistic lack of regard for hierarchy, and a generally queer sense of respect for others' humanity.
She treated her employees with respect and dignity: “Every Christmas she divided up all her dividends with all her employees. She didn’t keep anything for herself; everyone was her big family.”
To me, that evokes the longstanding queer tradition of chosen families.
She was known for creating spaces where you immediately felt at home. She worked with local materials, with organic patterns, so that a house might feel like part of the nature around it. And she centered what her clients wanted and needed. Instead of what was in fashion, or what was conventionally acceptable.
To me, that evokes the deep queer need for home. For a sense of belonging. She understood the deep need to feel accepted and safe.
She had a deep and passionate special interest, and a way to build a life around it.
To me, her disinterest in what society thought she should do, her stolid and well-planned self-protection against it, and her brilliance around her special interest, mark her as a fellow autist.
Oh yeah -- and also, the fact that her "professional style played down or even rejected language, both written and spoken, which has resulted in a limited sampling of her thoughts and ideas as expressed in her own words."
And, of course, a comparatively high percentage of autistic people are asexual.
(10%, compared to 1.5% of allistics.
Also: In this brief but absolutely delightful abstract, 30.3% of ALLISTIC people were queer, compared to 69.7% of autistic people.
Lest you imagine that queers aren't taking over the world.
We goddamn well are.)
She loved reinforced concrete, which she'd discovered in Paris. It's concrete threaded through with steel rebar. She was "fascinated by its combination of stability and plasticity," and was probably the first person in the country to use it for an actual building.
Because of her stability and flexibility, the Campanil still rings today.
Julia Donoho, a lawyer and architect who led the campaign to posthumously honor Morgan with the 2014 AIA Gold Medal, says, "She knew what she was doing, and there was nobody else who knew what she was doing."
How relatable is that?
To add to her record-breaking acts, Julia Morgan is still the architect who has designed the most completed structures - over 700 of them.
California historian Karen McNeill says, “When the Campanil survived the earthquake of 1906 without a crack, that just catapulted Julia Morgan into the highest echelon." She calls Morgan herself "a spectacle."
"For 49 years she shaped a whole region's view of itself.... If you ever lived in California, you were touched, somewhere, by her architectural genius."
It's a parallel to how Mills College works.
Secretly super-queer. Breaks ground to make things safer for all kinds of marginalized people. Influences far more than you can even imagine. The music department alone has formed so much of what you hear on the radio today, without seeming to directly connect to it at all.
And secretly being undermined and sold out for other people's profit.
(Fun fact: Julia Morgan first worked for John Howard Galen. She quit and started her own firm when she overheard him boasting that he hardly had to pay his draftsman anything because it was a woman. He ragefully tried to keep her from getting any commissions in Berkeley ever again.)
Mills' Board is currently working very hard to close it down, give its assets to Northeastern University, and (we suspect) launder a lot of the endowment into their own pockets, through a "Mills Institute" they want to start. (Which Northeastern is happily paying $25M of its own to fund.)
But it's not just any college being gobbled up by corporate weasels for personal profit. Nor is it dear to my heart just because I went there.
It's at least 58% queer and trans.
It's one of only 35 colleges in the United States that's just for marginalized genders: women and enbies.
It's one of six of those that have a majority of students of color.
And the only one that's about a quarter Latinx.
It's a sanctuary school for undocumented students.
It's 41% first-generation college students.
Please, if anything in this post was important to you, sign this petition right now. We have a good chance to get this shady deal stopped and investigated. The more people sign this letter, the more Congress is encouraged to act. Before it's too late.
And if you'd like to get updates, and get more ways to take action, you can do that right here:

Just realizing that Julia could have given us a John x Francesca x Michael hot polyamory romance and didn't because she lacked creativity. And Instead we got over 100 pages of angst over John's death.
So I'm officially mentally reviving John Stirling so he and his cousin can have a poly relationship with Francesca. Because When he was Wicked was great, but if John had been alive, you bet he would have wanted in on that. And thats a fact.
Just let Fran reign in Scotland with her two husbands and kids.

Second PSA:
My ask box has been full to overflowing since S4 dropped. Unfortunately I only have so much energy and time to work on the pile. If it takes me a while to answer your ask, that's why.
Just keep in mind... if I have to write an essay to answer you, it'll probably take longer. Which means you can speed the process up by:
Keeping your ask relatively short.
Sending in one ask at a time.
Addressing one or two points in your ask instead of a whole basketful.
But that's only if you want to make it easier for me. If you don't mind waiting, then fire away.
(Important caveat: I don't guarantee a fast response for anyone. I have a life)
I LOVE everyone's enthusiasm, so I won't be closing our ask box anytime soon. I just can't make any promises about the timeliness of my responses.
Thanks y'all~~

Every outing was a chance to show off, but to do so with neither name nor pedigree presented a new challenge. The halls of Garreg Mach monastery had grown to resemble home a little too much, and Julius - finally heeding the words of warning that had seen him off to the academy what felt like a lifetime ago - would, for once, conceal his identity from those who did not know that he still lived. He could handle one or two stray rebels from the liberation, were they to discover the truth and turn their blades on him, but what had come to fill the halls of his last remaining sanctuary was an army. And the Battle of the Eagle and Lion had tempered his arrogance with the reality that he was not untouchable.
A sensible fugitive would choose to lay low, knowing that danger lurked around every corner, but for Julius, newfound fear of mortality would not keep him from enjoying himself. Nor would he reflect on why others wished to see him dead (and permanently, this time). So with a great deal of deliberation and an even greater effort, he pulled what remained of his life of opulence from its musty storage and sifted out the moth-bitten pieces until he had something he could wear with dignity. And with what little money he had left, he procured a mask to conceal the mark he had always borne with pride.
The grand hall was already bright and lively by the time he arrived. His greatest challenge yet would be to quell his near-constant desire to claim the limelight for himself.
// Julius already has access to the Dancer class so stamps aren’t his priority and I won’t be reblogging the meme. I will, however, send memes to everyone else who reblogged. If you’re no longer accepting, please add a tag to your reblog that says this so that I don’t send something to your inbox.
A couple of notes, since it’s been a while since I’ve written a PSA for Julius and we now have many more Jugdral muses than when I first brought him to TOA:
Unless a character has already met Julius in Fódlan, they should believe that he’s dead. To all of the protags, his life ended just like it did at the end of FE4. In TOAverse, however, he was secretly saved after the final battle and Loptous has been sealed away.
At the ball, the only people who should be able to recognize Julius right away are those who know him relatively well. With some deduction, others might also be able to figure out who he is behind the mask, but if a character believes that Julius is dead, then Julius should not be their first guess.
Another exception might be Julia, who could know implicitly that he’s still alive because of a twin sense
Finally, his outfit:

My #1 post of 2022
PSA: Writing is a cultivatable skill, not an innate talent.
I am hugely flattered when people tell me they think I'm a good writer (personally I think I am 'reasonably capable') BUT in any conversation about my writing, it's VERY important to note that I've been writing for fun in some capacity, pretty much daily, since about 2002. The way that I got "good" at writing was by doing it. A LOT. (Trust me: I still have some of the old stuff, and looking at it makes me CRINGE. Hard.) So please, don't ever look at your own writing and say "Other people are better at this, why should I bother?" There will always be someone whose writing you look up to, and that's okay. If writing brings you joy or you have a story you want to tell, you deserve to do it! The worst that will happen is that your writing will get a little better with each thing you write.

If you haven't heard already, ASAN (Autism Self Advocacy Network) has had to pull their support of Sesame Street's autism program. The reason for them pulling their support is because Sesame Street has been helping to promote harmful Autism Speaks advertisements that stigmatizes autistic people.
https://autisticadvocacy.org/2019/08/asan-has-ended-partnership-with-sesame-street/?fbclid=IwAR0K5zZqimh3AXv17y13NyPbjN_Mke1cyAa1J_WwmGIhjB_tTlQ_Ys0gohg
"Sesame Street has now decided to undo that progress. Its latest PSAs featuring Julia promote Autism Speaks’ “Screen for Autism” initiative and their resource for parents of newly-diagnosed autistic children, the 100 Day Kit. Like much of Autism Speaks’ recent advertising, these PSAs use the language of acceptance and understanding to push resources that further stigma and treat autistic people as burdens on our families. The 100 Day Kit encourages parents to blame family difficulties on their autistic child (“When you find yourself arguing with your spouse… be careful not to get mad at each other when it really is the autism that has you so upset and angry”) and to view autism as a terrible disease from which their child can “get better.” It recommends compliance-based “therapies” and pseudoscientific “autism diets,” but fails to educate families about communication supports. It even instructs parents to go through the five stages of grief after learning that their child is autistic, as they would if the child had died.
We discussed with Sesame Street, repeatedly and in great detail, what this decision would mean for the autistic community. We explained to them how these ideas harm autistic children and our families, and reinforce societal prejudice against autistic people. Our contacts acknowledged that the Autism Speaks resources were harmful and portrayed autistic children in a negative light — yet they were unwilling to reverse course in their plans to promote them. As a result, we have formally ended our partnership with Sesame Street."
Sesame Street needs to know that what they are doing they are doing is not okay. Please take the time to sign the petition to get Sesame Street to stop partnering with Autism Speaks. And if you feel up to it you could contact them directly through their website.

Edit: I've had a lot of people request that I make the links clickable to make it more accessible so I did. The only reason I didn't have it clickable originally was because Tumblr was glitching out and wouldn't post it in the tags with the links embedded for some reason.

YO!!! Guess who’s back!! or, what’s back?! That’s right!
White Rose Week is back!
And let me just say how great it feels to be back. After how the new volume has been delivering and how hectic my life has been, I felt like this was a great time to spread some White Rose love around again. Wouldn’t you guys agree? :)
Okay, so like always, our first order of business is to have you guys send me some prompts! Then after that, I’ll go through the process of choosing at least 30 of the prompts you all send, then I’ll set up the voting poll for you all to vote your top 7 prompts!
***PLEASE SEND ME ANY PROMPTS IN MY INBOX HERE OR MY INBOX ON MY PERSONAL BLOG (much preferable this way for me) @the-heart-alchemist !!! I will be accepting prompts for the next 2 days and will make another announcement of when I’m done accepting them.***
So, for this year I am going to attempt to create three prompt lists (just because I want to be a little ambitious and make the effort) which will be:
An Audience list: the list of 7 prompts you will vote for in the poll I created.
An Admin list: the list of 7 prompts that I will choose that go along with the other prompt lists.
And an Image list: the list of 7 image prompts that I will choose.
Now for these three lists, you can: completely go off of just one list, you can randomly go off of any of the lists (whichever one inspires you), you can combine any of the prompts with any of the days, you can only do a few, you can not do any of them at all and just enjoy yourself, or go wild and attempt all of the prompts!
IT DOES NOT MATTER. What actually matters is that you all HAVE FUN AND SHARE YOUR LOVE FOR WEISS AND RUBY!
I also may attempt to have White Rose Week happen twice this year... but don’t get too excited. I need to see if I can realistically make that happen first, but if I’m sure it can work then I’ll make an announcement about it.
Please remember that before participating in this event, you read the Rules and Guidelines! If these rules are not followed, I have a strike system I created that could have you not participate in White Rose Week! So beware!
***I’m also going to add (not as a rule but as a PSA): Please refrain from creating any works for this event that might have any insult or passive-aggressiveness about any other ship that may or may not threaten White Rose. This event is not for those things. I will not accept any ship hate on this blog or event, and I will not encourage it. This event must be respectful of other ships regardless of how you may feel about other ships or how the volume is going.***
That’s all from me. Happy New Year and Decade everyone! I hope I can make this another fun year for White Rose!
