Saw they had Braceface up on Tubi. Thought "Oh, that's nice. Wonder how this show holds up in 2023-"
Tumblr media
The first thing they do is make a joke about kids being on their phones all the time and one girl pulls out this. Girl what is THAT. That was not even the latest tech on 2001 I s2g. 😭

Okay. This post is gonna be about Bart Allen, and all the Thawne-Allen stuff.
Tagged bc we both love Bart’s Thawne Allen problem: @themaybewoman
This is what I’ve gathered so far about his existence is hopefully comic accurate, but maybe not continuity accurate:
It starts with Iris West. Apparently, it’s recently revealed to me (today) that this girl is actually from the 31st century. Because of the semi-dystopian era of her birth, her real parents sent her back in time to the 21st century to keep her safe. She was adopted by the Wests, but she doesn’t know her future origins until later on.
She meets Barry as a news reporter, and they marry. When they were thinking about having kids, Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne comes along and murders her because his likes to make Barry’s life as miserable as possible. But because she’s from the future, her parents found some magic comic book science to “revive” her, thus placing her in the 31st century to live her life.
Barry finds out she’s alive in the future, and basically goes into retirement to live with her in the 31st century. He passes the mantle of The Flash to Wally West. Why he doesn’t just get her and bring her back to the 21st century, I’ll never know. Or he just wanted her to be with her real parents (which i would assume she barely knows lol).
I was trying so hard to find out why Barry decided to raise their children in the 31st century, but we have our answer there. Iris is future girl. Their children, Don and Dawn Allen, later operates as the Tornado Twins much like Barry did as the Flash. In Central City, I’m assuming. There was some clashing with the Legion of Superheroes, basically the 31st century’s version of the Justice League, but whatever. Not really important to Bart’s existence.
Dawn Allen marries Jeven Ognats. They have a daughter named Jenni Ognats, who later joins the Legion of Superheroes as XS. Jenni is Bart’s cousin.
Don Allen marries Meloni Thawne, and that’s where this gets more complicated.
Meloni Thawne is the daughter of Earthgov President Thaddeus Thawne, who irrc is a direct descendant of Eobard Thawne. When President Thawne learned of this marriage, the dude’s pissed because the Thawne-Allen feud is still on in his mind. He disowns his daughter, indirectly has the Tornado Twins killed via Dominators, and then kidnaps Bart.
Idk where Barry is in all this, maybe he went into the Speedforce and just chilled there through all this?
Now Bart had this hyper-accelerated aging thing going on as a side effect of being born a speedster (I think). Like nearly a teen by two yrs I think. Thawne grandfather stuck him in this VR so he can grow up “normally”, intending to make him a living weapon against the Flashfam. I’m pretty sure Meloni was locked up or something during that period of time too? Otherwise she would’ve done something about this.
Iris kidnaps Bart, and takes him to the 21st century via the Flash Museum’s Cosmic Treadmill (how they used that idk), hoping that Bart would have Wally West as a mentor. Instead, Wally ditches him to Max Mercury to be trained, and it plays on his low self esteem. Wally was pretty mean to him at some times, like when he gets recruited for the Teen Titans as Kid Flash.
But, hey, Wally did run him around the world fast enough to fix his accelerated aging problem.
Anyways, he gets some visits from his other cousin, Jenni, and his mom in the Impulse 1995 series, which was so fun to read. It was so cool to read them talking to each other in Interlac he Max being all confused.
This all makes me wonder: was Meloni ever Don’s lightning rod? As to Iris is Barry’s lightning rod?

Where do u see the gang in five years?
The details of this are subject to change, so take it with a grain of salt, but here’s a glimpse of the gang around the fall of 1998!
Nancy is now the junior editor of the magazine. It’s still not quite a big name, but is rising in popularity thanks to the mainstream feminism of the late 90’s. Jonathan is a successful freelance photographer and often sells his work to her magazine. They’ve been married for two years but don’t plan on having kids just yet (of course, what they don’t know is that Nancy’s already pregnant).
Chrissy is happier than ever at the flower shop, where she’s been promoted to co-manager (a mostly meaningless title that just means she can run things whenever Lucinda’s out of town visiting her daughter). After Jonathan and Nancy got married, Chrissy moved across the hall and she and Eddie eloped a couple of months later. They currently have one little girl, who has blonde hair and big brown eyes.
Eddie still makes music, mostly as a studio guitarist, but he also plays regularly at a few different bars around the city and Chrissy comes to as many performances as she can.
Steve was the first of the gang to get married in 1995 (to a woman who will show up in chapter nineteen, if all goes according to plan). They already have twin boys and another baby on the way. He teaches middle school theater and still books regular bit parts in movies and TV shows.
Robin has met Vickie by this point (I promise she’ll show up in the fic eventually lol), and the two of them are engaged. Robin is training to be a curator at the museum, and Vickie works at the public library. They’re living together with their two dogs, a pair of overly friendly Dalmatians named Mo and Ginger (after characters from Alison Bechdel’s comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For).
Another extra bit of info that I didn’t get the chance to set up in an earlier chapter like I’d planned is that Chrissy’s brother Liam is also living in the city. He works at an architecture firm and has been seeing Will Byers for going on a year now. (I just really want Jonathan and Chrissy to be in-laws someday, okay? And since I didn’t go the Byler route, I wanted to give Will a nice boyfriend. This may or may not feature in a later chapter, idk.) Will splits his time between Hawkins and the city, where he’s getting started in his art career.
Again, y’all know me and how often I rearrange things, so the specifics are subject to change if they don’t end up working with the timeline. But that’s about where I’d like everyone to end up ☺️
Thank you so much for the question! This was a fun one to think about!

Random Black family headcanons
The post will be edited
1. Birth mark
Every child from Black family has a "constellation" of moles at their body. That's where they have their names from. Actually only their parents, siblings and romantic partners are aware of this fact beacuse birthmarks are in not very visible places. Eg. Regulus has Leo's contellation at his hip. The reason why Narcissa doesn't have star's name is beacause she wasn't born with Black's birthmark but with Rosier's one (her mother is from Rosier family). It resembled narcissus flower
2. Matching necklaces
When Beallatrix had her first trip to Hogsmade she bought three necklaces with letter "B". She gave two of them to her sisters. Few years later when Andromeda married a muggleborn Bellatrix get rid of her nacklace. She didn't want to be reminded of the traitor. Narcissa stop wearing hers in official situations but she kept it and she was wearing it when she was home alone (or later only with baby Draco). Andromeda never stopped wearing hers. She was taking it of only when she was going to sleep and every next morning she was putting it.
3. Scarf
When Sirius was at his first year at Hogwarts Andromeda borrowed him her scarf. The day was cold, she met him at school grounds and he apparently had forgotten his scarf. Sirus forgot to give the scarf back and that was the year when Andie was ending school. Actually she never asked for return. That's why Sirius kept the scarf. And every time when he was upset he was keeping it close like a teddy bear to think about his favourite cousin. When he was taken to Azkaban and they tried to take the scarf away from him he bit them. Then he was sleeping with it every night. Around 1995 when he met Tonks he gave her old slytherin scarf saying "give it to your mom, tell her I miss her". Dora told him to keep the scarf but then asked Remus for it right after Sirius's death (Remus knew where his best friend (if you prefer boyfriend) used to keep souvenirs). Andromeda got her scarf back not long after she lost her cousin.
4. Hardest choice
Andromeda got pregnant before marriage, while she was still living with her family. When she realised she was expecting a baby she confessed to her mother. She even said that this is muggleborn's child. Her mother (after argument and calling her a slut) found a solution. She told her daughter to marry some pureblood beafore the pregnancy would be visible and raise a child like this man was it's father. That was the moment when Andie decided to run away from home. She couldn't take her baby away from it's real father just for externals. She couldn't raise her baby in a lie. She never wanted to leave Narcissa on her own but there was no other choice. It wasn't just about her anymore. It was about being mother
5. Aristocratic skills
Since pure blood families are equivalent of aristocracy in real world many poeple headcankn Blacks as french speakers. I've also seen headcanons about Black brothers (idk how does this work with Black sisters) playing instruments. And I love both of this tropes but I wanted to add something. First thing: I strongly believe that Blacks (especially girls) were also taught dancing. Second: I headcanon Andromeda and Narcissa teaching their children aristocratic skills. Of course Andie didn't heve to teach her "broken" child but she believed that skills were useful. And here's how did this work in my opinion:
Draco learned to dance and used to play instrument when he was little but when his started Hogwarts he didn't have enough time to practice so he never mastered playing instrument. He never liked to study languages so he didn't learn french and he really regretted it at his 4th year (Triwizard tournament)
Dora learned french, she always thought that was a funny language which made her enthusiastic about learning. She also learned dancing but always when she had a chance she prefered to just jump around the room with her dad to "The Beatles" records. However the skill of ball dancing turned out to be useful during wedding (she led, Monny just trusted like he used to with Padfoot before). Dora never learned to play instrument. She didn't have enough patience
6. Muggle music
Andromeda was the one who intodroduced Sirius to muggle music. When she started frindship with Ted Tonks (I headcanon them as friends to lovers like many people do) she quite fast became fan of "The Beatles". She showed one vinyl to Sirius. At first he wasn't into this music and he started listening to it just because it was muggle. But during the years he was digging deeper and deeper into muggle rock music. Then he found metal. And then with little Remus' help and companion he bacame punk. And many years later he returned favor. He intoduced Dora to muggle punk music (she was raised listening "The Beatels" and she became fan of "Weird sisters" but she didn't know muggle punk).
7. Drinking
Everybody from Black family had high tolerance for alcohol in my opinion. It doesn't mean that everybody drink a lot but they can drink a lot without being really drunk. Even Draco can hold his drink beacuse of his mum. Lucius never had a high tolerance.
8. Phobias
Evrybody from Black family had a fear that they traied to get rid of but finally they would always meet them.
Regulus was always afraid of water. Sirius would make fun of him for not learning swimming. He was too scared to try. He never learned swimming. He never stopped being afraid of water. He tried to fight with this fear just once. He had to acomplish his mission. When he entered the cave he remembered all of the times when Sirius was innocently laughing at him. He imagined his older brother teasing him. The urge to prove that "ghost" wrong was his final motovation. It didn't matter that the real, living Sirius would probably never know the truth. The imagined one had to know that his brother was not a coward. When he was pulled into the lake he closed his eyes trying to imagine Sirius' smile. He didn't want to see endless water at his last moment. He wanted to see his brother.
Sirius was always afraid of darkness. Since he was little he would sleep with a night lamp and then he would light his wand every night (with lumos) and sleep with it. He thought the fear disappeared after Azkaban. He hadn't had a wand there so he couldn't light it. He had to just get used to sleeping in the darkness. He was sure he did. But in fact that fear just got worse. He realized that first night after his runaway. He couldn't sleep whole night because it was too dark. In Azkaban the metaphorical "darkness" was much worse than the litteral one. He would sleep as much as he could just to avoid going crazy. When he run away, he was safe again. He could stop being afraid of craziness so his childhood fear came back to take that free space. Despite his fear of darkness he died falling into light.
Narcissa was always afraid of loud noise. Every time Andromeda would fight with their mother Cissy would cover her ears. She never wanted to fight just to don't be shouted on. When she became a mother she hated the noises made by the baby at first. She even regretted having a child somtimes. But with time she got used to noises made by the child. She even liked some of them, especially laugh. She was sure she got rid of her fear until her house became deatheaters meeting place. She cried in her pillow every night but she was doing everything not to let Lucius see. They were too loud, she never asked for it but she felt her fear was riddiculus. That wasn't the moment to be riddiculus. She had to be stronger than ever to protect her family. It turned out that she was stronger than she expexted when she survived the final battle.
Andromeda was always afraid of loneliness. She was very loud and social at school just too be sure that she would always have someone to spend time with but they were never close to her. So the school friendships ended at the moment she graduated. Then she run away from home. She lost her family and friends. She lost everyone except her husband. When she gave birth to Nymphadora her new family became her everything and she was happy even though she wasn't the popular girl anymore. Years later her daughter got married and fell pregnant. Everything was perfect until everything was lost. Andie was left with a baby and unlike 25 years before there was nobody to help her. She would unalive herself if she didn't have to raise her grandson. All by herself.
Bellatrix was always afraid of pain and blood. When she was about 18 she got fascinated by Dark Lord's ideology. Not long after she realised that asking questions means being tortured. She became perfect death eater not only because she believed in the ideology but also to avoid pain. She was using the most painful spells on her victims but not the ones which caused a lot of blood. She got used to blood enough to not be scared of it but she didn't like to look at it to the end. The point was, she had to. Lot of deatheaters enjoyed seeing blood. She, as a leading one was almost everywhere and everytime. She had to pretend proud, happy and insane during others were commiting crimes full of blood. She was insane indeed but she was laughing just to hide the fear and disgust. Luckily she was good at acting so everyone was sure that she loved watching blood. Ironicaly her death was fast, almost painless and there was no blood.

Love's For Love's Sake Live Blogging
Let's Go Cha Woongki! I've also seen it get good reception in general. Just Finished Death's Game where the main character lives different people's lives and in this one, he gets isekai-ed into a webtoon. And last month I also watched Twinkling Watermelon where the main guy gets transported to 1995 where he's the same age as his dad. They all have missions (Death's Game: don't die in the person's body, Twinkling Watermelon: he thinks it's to prevent the accident, here: make the guy happy based on the first few mins of ep 1).
Ep 1: Happiness (Feb 1)
I thought he fell into a webtoon but seems like it's a novel being turned into a video game
lol pretending to know the grandma by reciting facts from the novel, reminds me of Eun Gyeol pretending to be Yoon Dong Jin in Twinkling Watermelon
Also like theoretically this is age difference right? I was thinking of they're 1 year apart, I thought they'd be same age but actually it's like (Korean age) 18 and late 20s
Awoo, this really is reminding me of Twinkling Watermelon cuz mans has no money lol (+ following around the dude like Eun Gyeol did with his dad Yi Chan)
Wait, so this is a video game slip and it's in the time period from when the MC was a teen? so his old home is still his home and his grandma is still alive (even though seems like he had gone to a diff high school - is this one a fake? - from his commentary at the beginning)
Ouch, the grandma being alive is also similar to the great grandma in Twinkling Watermelon
Oh, so Myungha did indeed go to this high school as a kid? Since apparently everybody knows about Mad Dog Myungha and the kids steer clear of him
lol Yeowoon straight up being like "What do you mean about our relationship [that I have to like you more for us to be near each other]? Do you like me?"
Girl, not 300 days to make Cha Yeowoon happy or face penalty: death
This is actually good so far, I don't know why I'm surprised necessarily but the recent kBLs I watched (Bon Appetit, Love Class 2) were not very good, I guess. And the quality difference is usually more stark when going from a full kdrama to a kBL webseries but the quality doesn't seem that much lower this time; I wonder if there being a video game isekai concept contributes to that.
Ep 2: Friends (Feb 1)
Cha Woongki plays Kyunghoon who I guess is gay and so has no friends?
Is it also difficult for Korean speakers to decipher if they mean "like" as romantic or platonic in this convo?
Ouch, Yeowoon have negative affection levels for everybody but having the worst (-100) for himself
Fighting on the roof is scary, what if someone falls off?
pls not this firstly yeah almost falling off roof but then Myungha catching the bully in his arms
Do I have to keep track of all these bullies, why are there so many bro?
Oh, seems like I'll have to at least keep track of Sang Won since he and Kyung Hoon are... friends? bullies him? love interests? who knows
lol from the on-air thread on r/boyslove, I realized that Sangwon apparently wants Myungha for himself and they're setting up a love triangle lol I thought he was gonna just like Kyunghoon and was bothering Myungha for who knows what reason
Ep 3: Affection (Feb 1)
ahhh okay lol I really was so silly and the brewing love triangle just flew over my head but now Sangwon is like Myunha hyung I'll take you home/take me home etc and Yeowoon cutting in like sunbae... you said you'd sleep over at my place.
Like I'm not a big love triangle fan but this is good idk, I'm unexpectedly enjoying the little possessive pulling the two are doing while 1) I'm not sure who out of Sangwon and Yeowoon know they have gay intentions toward Myungha and 2) Myungha doesn't know they're doing a little dick measuring contest with him in the middle. throw in the fact that they're both younger than Myungha, so Sangwon is calling him Hyung in a cheeky/bothersome way who took it upon himself to start calling him hyung while Yeo woon still uses Sunbae
Ah, one dead parent, mothers who ran away, living with grandma (one of them sick and died).
Myungha is 29 years old
I'm so confused, Sangwon lives with Kyunghoon and his younger sister? Since their family friends? And she and Sangwon are also models for an ad? But it might change to a different pair including Cha Yeowoon?
Kyunghoon's younger sis name = Shia
Why would Cha Yeowoon call him at that restaurant with Shia smh he wouldn't bc he's been ignoring Myungha all day - should've made a better choice to have Shia realize he's close with Yeowoon
I really can't tell where Shia/Sangwon/Myungha are at right now, Shia and Kyunghoon's house?
I had glanced at the ep3-4 on-air thread on r/boyslove and I'd seen a mention of "a kiss, though in an unexpected way" or smth so when Yeowoon stepped forward when Myungha got off the bus I was like ...is he gonna kiss him wtf?
but instead he's like "There's a woman's scent on you. Is this why you were late?" like oh okayyyy lol sudden jealousy again
AND THEN SHIA CALLING BEING LIKE "oppa don't forget we're meeting day after tomorrow!!" and Yeowoon freaking leaving lmfao firstly she's more of a fan of yours than Myungha's but funny lad
Awooga, I knew the shoe gifting wouldn't go well but I was maybe expected an Outburst from Yeowoon but instead... the affection level going from 0 -> -10 -> -60 -> -99 (the second lowest we've seen other than Yeowoon's own -100)
Oh, the brand is Sangwon's mom's brand. I thought it was just cuz Yeowoon didn't wanna be seen as a charity case but the brand in addition must've stung
Agh, why is Sangwon being such a dickhead, his "kinda bully-ish but not really, mostly harmless" schtick was working for me
I'm usually irritated/turned off by jealousy plots and yet here in 2 diff cases I'm like hehe this is fun???
Yeowoon's "blank/stoic" character kinda makes the actor's acting meh but still fine. Average for a kBL
Ep 4: (Feb 2)
ohhh the negative effect stuff is why Myungha kept Yeowoon at arm’s length
Affection: 1
“if you do [all] this [for me], I’ll misunderstand” awooo
Affection level: 18 wow
oh lol that’s the kiss. myungha kissing that other homophobic bully to shut him up
lol Myungha being nonchalant about the fight/kiss w Takjoo or whatever while Yeowoon is having a crisis (including “I want to kiss him”)
Yeowoon switch up to cute puppy is kinda sudden but we'll see how it goes
Ep 5: Relationship (Feb 2)
D: That random cafe was run by Myungha's mother who abandoned him? ouch
In the r/kdrama on-air thread I think is where I saw somebody mention maybe those texts from the anonymous number (that kinda seem like they're watching Myungha/talking to Myungha) is actually from the sunbae whose story he's in?
Shia knowing both Sangwon and Yeowoon like Myungha
rip Sangwon is pitiful here, esp with just how much Myungha doesn't care about him
oof, another confession, this time from Yeowoon
oh Myungha really is a terrible man, how could he have Sangwon keep an eye on Yeowoon and now interrogate about how he was doing during the day plss
Kyunghoon with his bf who went abroad
ah, so they're gonna do the "make the best of the little time we have" route?
dead fish kiss but it's fine i suppose
Ep 6: Love (Feb 2)
Shia convincing Yeowoon that on the first date you give a sunflower lmaoo
oh the door to door diff rooms was scary, is the game glitching? I suppose we're on the 6th ep out of 8
doing all this in public makes me nervous ngl esp when Yeowoon was just surrounded by a bunch of girls
"Hyung, you seem like someone who doesn't know how to receive love" woah
Bro idk what's going on and why is everything scary
Ep 7: Choose (Feb 2)
idek what this choice because of system errors is? like what's going on girl
Oh... it's whether grandma or Yeowoon is more important? And the choice will have the other killed or smth?
bro wtf from 2 hundred and smth days to just 15 left?
what does that even mean Yeowoon doesn't think Myungha likes him romantically? What does he think they are doing even then? Or does he mean like... the amount?
Ouch, the "why can't you rely on me" from Yeowoon hurts cuz it's true
Ouchhh, Yeowoon is sooo cute and pitiful while getting broken up with
Bro omg what's going on, he's being deleted?
Ep 8: Choose (Feb 2)
owwww they forgot Myungha
Oh, Yeowoon is remembering and he can also use the pen?
Is this present day Myungha after having gone back to his OG universe?
oh nvm, seems like it's his original life like wishing to disappear, grandma dying, gf breaking up w him
oh my fuck, that one is the actual worst. going to his mom's cafe -> introducing himself -> a child calling her mom -> she's like no i'm not her, you must've come to the wrong place and leaves
oh wait, he died? what about the novel... and video game convo?
aw, Yeowoon changed the mission to "make Ta Myungha happy"
dang, they're in different days, that's crazy
I'll be honest, I don't fully understand everything because I'm just dumb af
but it's a happy ending nonetheless
okay enough kissing this is a lot but at least it's not deadfish
So, the game ended right? And Myungha's just living in this life now? No more possible system errors or whatever. And I guess Yeowoon knows at least a bit about what the game stuff is, so that's nice.
Vaguely I'd noticed that Yeowoon and Myungha have a lot in common (not just the self-hatred lol but even like one parent abandoning them, the other dying, the grandmother they live with, etc.) and the mission becoming "make Myungha happy"
Also, they don't necessarily talk explicitly about suicide much since we find out in ep 8 but this is also a "isekai after suicide" drama, just like Death's Game and this one actually kind of gets to the roots of his problems that led him to commit suicide (self-hatred, rejection, being unloved/unable to love, etc) via the story and interactions while Death's Game kinda just "fuck you, you selfish bastard, don't you know others want to live, how dare you kill yourself." And at the end of Death's Game, when he goes back to his life, there is no difference in his actual situation (beyond his mentality and knowledge ig but no like... material change based on what actually led him to his decision_ vs in Love for Love's sake where they was like an actual difference in his life (he got a whole new life lol)
General Thoughts - First Watch:
Cool concept, don't know how much I actually understood though lmfao So did the drunk ramble at the beginning with the sunbae not actually happen - the whole time that was some sort of Entity who was putting Myungha into the game because he'd committed suicide but regretted it? And also Myungha's like 29 year old brain lol but I guess he's gonna just live at 19 and get a chance to redo 10 years of his life, with Yeowoon by his side. And it's not really a "game" probably, just a different version of the world 10 years earlier? It was cute, the concept was nice, the early 2 eps were Very promising and last ep was touching but the middle (esp 5-6) were quite meh for me. It has people really talking and discussing and dissecting it though, which is a fun aspect.
Rewatch: September 2024
There are a bunch of shows I wanna rewatch, from this year and the previous year's, and I wanna kinda save it for December as the month where I do rewatches but I think it's good to also have a few here and there.
This one falls under the "I think I might like it more on a rewatch" category. I was meh about the show's execution but I think with the way people's spoke about it + some Tiktoks I've saved (1, 2), I can be more into it - especially the characters and their romance like woahhh the "do you like me the same way I like you? you don't" "why do you think that?" is wild, why did that not break my brain the first time.
But I gotta rewatch while doing some other stuff so uh, hope that doesn't lessen the experience too much...
Ep 1: Happiness (Sept 7)
"Why are you drinking like you're trying to kill yourself?" "People don't die that easily"
the water/wave sounds as he's waking up. I saw people mention it after the last episode aired
Cha Woongki ;-;
the texts from the sunbae are a pretty cool incorporation
I understood a lot more this ep because of knowing the whole story obviously but also because now I know what tf a debuff is lol
Ep 3: Affection (Sept 7)
Myungha's mother abondoning him and running a cafe by the beach reminds me of Palm from Never Let Me Go, another show I gotta rewatch soon
why are they using girlfriend and she/her for Kyunghoon's long distance friend/bf
Yeowoon waiting near Myungha's house with ice cream + literally sniffing him and saying "there's a girl's scent on you" and "is that why you came back so late?" and then just leaving after the girl calls Myungha is truly so insane like woahh baby's first jealousy plot
the shoe thing and subsequent affection level -99 hurts so bad but even more is the "don't follow me" from myungha to yeowoon bc yeowoon sees it as myungha pushing him away and caring about sangwoon but actually myungha just didn't want a debuff to hit yeowoon since affection levels are negative again
Ep 4: Progress (Sept 7)
I do think I'm liking the show more this go around because from my comments above, I think I was more "sure whatever" in these 2 eps (except the ep 3 jealousy) but I'm more fond of the characters now.
Ep 5: Relationship (Sept 8)
Aw man, I felt bad the original time and this time too about how much disregard Myungha had for Sangwon lol because he kinda ends up with a similar fate as Yeowoon in the novel that Myungha got so worked up about. not saying that i'd want Myungha to be into him or anything but aw
Ep 6: Love (Sept 8)
the tiny acknowledgment that Myungha is indeed dating some kid and it might not be appropriate
I don't really get the stalker thing still
Ep 7: Choose (Sept 8 - 10)
oh he chose to keep Yeowoon’s high affection even if it’s just 14 days left rather than 100 days with affection reset to 0 because he thinks parting with good feelings is better and isn’t guaranteed
the breakup aw
This one ep took me 3 days to watch smh watched a few minutes a day
Ep 8: (Sept 10)
alright
Overall: It's alright. I think I enjoyed the middle bit a bit more this time around but I'm still not super attached to the characters and this time, I got really bored by the last quarter even though it's supposed to be really quite emotional. The rating stays the same.
Rating - original: 6/10
Rating - after rewatch: 6/10

so just through the end of act 3 and some way into the intermission thing
I still don't understand what the fuck is going on with the future thing with the desert-y type mail lady and the assault rifle dude and the Mayor of Beans and how that interfaces with the kids in the "present". And it's been weird because my brain places it as a reference to Journey, which didn't release on ps3 till like 2 or 3 years later than this? It happens, there's that shael riley and the double ice backfire song that nominally predicts the underlying idea of like, Ingress and then pokemon go by a few years.
idk. It's deliberately obtuse and it feels kind of good to understand the little things that do filter through to me, a lot of it is just seeing NONSENSE WORDS that are CAPITALISED and glossing right over them. Every joke is still every joke from Kingdom of Loathing. The feel is tangibly, palpably le epic bacon era, with all the ~isms very much intact.
What I enjoyed from this chunk of reading was the inkling of John having a character arc, and taking a couple of steps towards resolving it.
As it is, the 4 main (?) protagonists have largely been used as vehicles for references and jokes (oh hey this girl who lives on the JURASSIC PARK island with her HUNTER FROM JUMANJI [1995] Grandpa (a ghost? I already can't remember) is a FURRY, has (mental health conditions outlined in the then-contemporary DSM-4) etc etc so it was nice to see some movement at the station regarding his feelings around his relationship with his dad.
Also I don't know how I feel about this intermission thing. I already have to try and remember so much half-explained stuff to keep up to date with the main story and now you're dropping all this shit on me about following past trails and future trails? We can't jump to hearts McGee or we try to jump to spades in the shades but can't and we have to actually go back to seal clubber lang? Who the fuck is who? What the fuck is going on? Are they trying to kill the Lord English guy or destroy all the clocks or steal something in a vault?
If there's not a "catch-up" thing for the main story at the end of this I'm going to have to read back through the last couple of acts again just to fucking remind myself about what the fuck was going on. I also might go back to act 1 at some point and go back over it now that I grasp what a "captchalogue" is and why it's called that and who the other kids are etc etc.
I only have so many braincells left at my advanced age and I don't know how beneficial it is to have so many of them filled with the phrase "I FUCKEN WARNED YOU ABOUT THOSE STAIRS, BRO"
Still confused about where the grey body paint cosplay comes into all of this.

All of y'all should see this silly little man. His name is Moxy. He's from the Moxy Show— Cartoon Network's first original programming. Airing in December 1993, it's considered lost media. I think that for an early example of CGI in television, his design aged very well! Like, compared to a lot from that decade his honestly doesn't look that bad, ESPECIALLY with the floating eyes/ears. He's so ingrained with that 90s cartoon look where it's cheesy, but not so much where it dates him. Also, I'm pretty sure he's one of the first if not the first use of CGI technology in TV animation.
There's also a whole video on YouTube that's basically a sneak peek as to how they created him and how they did it. It's genuinely amazing to look at if you're interested in animation history since this was huge for the time. Especially for an at the time small network with a niche idea that was barely a year old (not accounting for production time). And that's not even accounting for the fact he made his TV debut in the "International Toon-In" with live animation years before a show like the Simpson did the same thing. The fact that after 2002— where he made a split second cameo in this bumper here (cw//flashing images), Cartoon Network forgot about this guy for 17 fucking years is genuinely heartbreaking. Outside of an appearance in a 1995(?) PC game and a cancelled comic in 2001, he was all but forgotten from the network. Thank God for lost media archivists for preserving media regarding him, and the crew on OK KO for giving him a pretty blatent cameo in Crossover Nexus where they gave him a genuinely nice look in 2d I might say! It's like he never left!
Tumblr media
Seriously, look at this silly little guy. Bro's just happy to be here! Also here's another from the same special where he's about to commit an act of violence.
Tumblr media
Please do not the Moxy.
Also if you decided to click read more, congrats— You've come to the " Personal Fun Fact" section of this post! At this point it kinda deviates off Moxy and his general history and just a fun fact of how he influenced my artwork for a very particular character (hint hint, she's in my profile pic). So if you really don't care about this, or Fortnite, or whatever it may be— y'all don't gotta read. :)
For those who've been following me long enough. Y'all know my main girl of this account is this silly gal right here.
Tumblr media
Well, when I first drew her back in 2021— her main influence was Moxy. At the time I was struggling to come up with a fun design for her since I didn't want it to be just CTL but bear, and it just so happened I had been watching Crossover Nexus again and videos around it. I got intrigued by Moxy and found some videos about him and just kinda fell in love with the little guy. He had a charm to him I thought was amazing for a 3d character in the 90s to have. A few sketches later, I ended up drawing something for Clover that was subconsciously inspired by some elements they both had. They were both goofy dogs, a bit off looking (in a good way ofc), and idk why but I'd think she'd probably have a similar personality as him. It's evolved over the years, but the influence is still there and has grown. He's such a good fit that I genuinely can't imagine her any other way without this guy existing.
But yeah, down below is the first drawing made in 2021, 2nd major one made for St. Patrick's Day 2022, the newest one for a collab with other artists, and finally a sketch from said newest one that I never posted publicly outside the GC the Collab talked in where she has a bit more influence with the floating whiskers (removed them since the creator asked for art for the collab to not be too off from the original design and I don't want to push it).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But yeah. That's that! Idk what to call these kinda posts. Maybe BinxDoesRambling? Makes sense lmao.

TV shows:
Vampires (2020), and What We Do in the Shadows (2018)
Books:
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno Garcia, Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler, Minion by L. A. Banks, and Vlad by Carlos Fuentes
Descriptions and some of my opinions under the cut
Movies
Cronos (1993): This is Guillermo del Toro's first movie, but any movie that's both written and directed by him is bound to be good in my book. It's mostly in Spanish so you will need subtitles. Here an old device (powered by a strange insect) that can turn humans into vampires is discovered accidently by a man and his young granddaughter who runs an antique shop. He is then slowly transformed while being hunted by another man who seeks the device out of a desire for immortality. Definitely existential/sympathetic vampire in this one. It also is a horror movie and a lot of the horror is gross-out moments and body horror. Nothing gross having to do with digestive system functions, but I def had some moments were I was like 🤢
Ganja and Hess (1973): This movie is on the artsy side of things, there's not a definable "plot" it's just a man who is struggling with his existence as a vampire and he falls in love with a woman and brings her over too. Not a particularly scary movie, so I'm not sure it should count as horror. This movie is 90% vibes. Trigger warning for suicide.
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014): Another movie on the artsy side of things. The "girl" is a vampire living in an Iranian town called "bad city" and she kills men who she sees as disrespecting woman. She finds a guy who is actually okay and also disillusioned with life in "bad city". Only slight horror, associated with most vampire content. This movie is in Farsi. Trigger warning for drug addiction.
A Vampire in Brooklyn (1995): A woman from brooklyn is actually half-vampire and doesn't know it. A vampire comes to brooklyn and wants to convert her to vampiricism completly. This movie has low rating on rotten tomatos and idk why. My guess would be the genre is kind of inconsistent. The main vampire is played by Eddie Murphy and while other aspects of the movie as comedic, he isn't in this movie (he has the range). It's also not particularly scary, so it only let's horror through regular vampire themes. It definetly has that seductive vampire trope, and plays with the idea of giving into being evil (through vampirism).
Blacula (1972): The movie is pretty cheesy, not really on purpose but more because it’s super old and not super well made. It has the plot line of Blacula waking up in modern day and finding a women who looked like his old wife and wanting to fall in love with her, which is up there in my least favorite vampire tropes. It’s still an interesting movie in how strikingly 70s it is, the people who find and buy Blacula’s coffin are a biracial gay couple who sell antiques, so that were pretty cool. The main issue with this movie is it’s hard to tell if you are supposed to be rooting for Blacula, because all he wants is to be with his girl, but he also kills A LOT of people, all innocent bystanders. The movie is too middle ground on taking a stance on vampirism that it doesn’t say much at all. Also the sound editor need to be fired, there are wind chimes playing during most blood sucking scenes and there’s no background audio for the finally fight scene, just like thuds, the audio is constantly unintentionally hilarious.
What We do in the Shadows (2014): This is a mockumentary on these vampire housemates. It's an absolute classic, it has provided tons of memes. One of the co-directors and main characters is played by Taika Waititi, who is Polynesian and Jewish. I love his movie and his sense of humor. This movie isn't scary but does have some slight gore (large amounts of blood).
Blade (1998): This was a marvel movie before it became the franchise it is today. It's a dark action movie where the protagonist, Blade, is both a vampire hunter and a vampire himself. So, while he is fighting evil he is constantly tempted by his nature as a blood drinker. This movie has some very cool horror aspects that make it rated R, which marvel plans to remake this movie and make it PG-13 (boo 🙄). This movie goes hard on the themes of fighting vampiric nature, which is a theme I love in vampire films.
Vampires vs the Bronx (2020): This movie is about a group of kids who discover the real estate company gentrifying the Bronx is actually a group of vampires. Honestly, the connection between vampirism and gentrification is a really good one. This movie has strong Stranger Things, The Lost Boys vibes, in that it’s kids going up against supernatural forces. It’s pretty endearing and nice light watch. There’s lots of tributes to other vampire films, either directly (like, Blade, they reference this movie a lot) or more indirectly (The Lost Boys, and Fright Night). It’s not really scary, this is a more family-friendly movie.
Honorable mention: From Dusk Till Dawn (1996): The leads in this movie are white, however this movie has a pretty diverse cast, with most of the vampires played by POC. This is a super violent film, but in a fun over-the-top way. It's not until half-way through the movie the vampires are revealed. The story follows two bank robbers who make this vacationing family drive them across the border to Mexico, where they will rendezvous with partners after staying at a bar. Little did they know the place was owned by vampires who feed on travelers. Warning for Quentin Tarantino's very obvious foot fetish, there are 2 scenes in the film that are very obvious about this.
Honorable mention: Queen of the Damned (2002): While the lead for this movie is still a white vampire, it's the vampire Akasha played by Aaliyah who really steals the show. She's both the antagonist and the love interest and gets to play a fun and complex evil character. While most fans of the Vampire Chronicles don't like how unfaithful this adaptation is to the books, Aliyah's performance still tends to be a favorite. I haven't seen this movie so I can't attenst to anything else about it, but it is worth mentioning.
TV shows
What we do in the shadows (2018): This is a spinoff of the movie, made by the same ppl, with the same premise, it just has different characters. One of the main vampires, Nandor, is from what is modern-day Iran. His familiar turned bodyguard/vampire hunter, Guillermo, is Latinx. This show is great about representation overall and doesn't use any traits or identity of the characters as the butt of the joke. It's overall goofy and loveable and I can't recommend it more. Slight horror but mostly to remind you of the genre the main characters (especially Guillermo) find themselves in.
Vampires (2020): In this series the main character is half-vampire. Vampires are a genetically different race from humans. The main character has kept her v as impure traits at bay (she can go out in the sun) by taking pills given to her by her vampire mother, but when she stops taking them she begins slowly transforming. I've only watched the first episode so far, the only horror is typical blood-drinking associated with vamps. It's available on Netflix, and if you watch in English, I recommend turning the audio to the original French and watching with subs. At first I was watching in English (it automatically loaded this way) but the dub doesn't match the lip movements super well and it was driving me crazy. I wasn't sure if I could watch it before it occurred to me to change the settings.
Books
Vlad by Carlos Fuentes: This book was written by Fuentes when vampires were at the height of their popularity, but Fuentes didn't like how much vampire media had deviated from the horror genre (for example, Twilight). So he wanted to make an actual horror vampire story, and this one packs a punch for sure. I was gripping my chest in shock and disgust while reading this. The premise is very similar to Dracula, except this time Dracula is moving to modern day Mexico City. It is from the point of view of the real-estate agent finding Dracula a house.
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno Garcia: This book also takes place in Mexico City, however this time humans have known about the existence of vampires for a while, and Mexico City is supposed to be a vampire free zone. However, a conflict between two rival vampire groups is taken to Mexico City, where the main character Atl, and her new human companion/blood source, Domingo, have to fight and run from corrupt Mexico city cops, rival vampires, and human gangs. This book has an extremely fresh take on vampires, solving the problem of conflicting lore in ever piece of media by having multiple species of vampires, with different traits and weaknesses. This book is full of cool vampire lore for it's universe, but at the same time it's not overwhelming. The mood and setting alters from neon-noir (think Blade Runner) and classic gothic. I adored this book and highly recommend it to everyone.
Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler: This book is a more science fiction leaning vampire take. It's not gothic or existential, vampires are simply another species that have been living on Earth besides humans. The vampires have a ritualistic relationship with those humans they feed from, called symbionts. The main character, Shori, is a new genetically engineered vampire, she is black, which makes her less sensitive to the sun and other vampires. However, a mysterious group has been killing and attacking vampire settlements, and she has to struggle to stay alive, while also seeking revenge. While this book is a fresh take on vampires, it has heavy Adult/Minor relationship content that I didn't enjoy and ultimately skewed my perception of the book (Shori looks like a 10 year old and has sex with adult humans, but is 53 years old, but that's out of a 500 year lifespans, and they repeatedly state that she is a child-vampire). There's an in-universe explanation that the vampire culture is different from humans, but still. Still, this book is highly acclaimed so some ppl can enjoy it despite it's glaring flaws.
Minion by L. A. Banks: This is the only book I haven't read yet, but I have looked into the reviews and summaries. This seems like a Buffy the Vampire Slayer style vampire book, it focuses on the main character, who is a vampire slayer. She is black and Caribbean and would prefer to be a DJ but she is the only one who can hunt vampires (again, very similar to Buffy). From the reviews these vampires are not sympathetic or romantic, they are cold-blooded killers. Since I haven't read it yet I can't tell you if this book (and subsequent series) is more action or horror focused or both.

As a holocaust historian, how do you feel about Star Wars? Specifically the use of aesthetics and terminology from Nazi Germany as a way of getting across to the audience that the empire is evil. As a Jewish person I've been having increasing discomfort with the combination of "people not knowing/understanding that aspects of the empire are based on Nazi Germany" and "the way that over time the empire's image had been softened so that people can have fun with supporting either side of the conflict (an example of this being the thing you can do at Disneyland where you choose whether to be on the side of the rebels or the empire, and then earn points for your side)", especially given the increasing antisemitism I've been noticing. But I'm interested in getting other perspectives about this topic.
This is a really good question, but the honest answer is that this isn’t something I’ve given much thought to. Not because it’s not important! But because I have to kind of pick and choose what I’m going to be angry about when it comes to the use and misuse of Holocaust memory in politics and pop culture.
Further, I only really fuck with the original trilogy because it lives in a comfy part of my childhood nostalgia fondness brain that still has all the previews from the Lion King VHS memorized (Pocahontas: coming soon to a theater near you this summer, 1995). I’ve seen all the prequel films and the first two of the new trilogy. And YEAH the Nazi imagery was, if anything, more blatant than ever in the new ones.
But at the same time, entertainment execs exist to make money, not a point. They don't care what kind of harmful shit they put out there as long as they make enough bank to maintain their private jets, coke, and access to a hot new wife every 5 years + yacht girls.* They know that we’re in a fucked up moment where fascism is back on trend and supporting the good guys is just virtue signaling sj bullshit. They hit us upside the head with the almost insultingly obvious Nazi imagery, but then are all like “idk man, like, moral ambiguity ok it’s not my place to tell fascists that they’re wrong plus like, their candidates support my tax breaks.”
I sound blasé not because I think any of this is fine, but because as I've gotten older and gotten deeper into Holocaust/genocide history, I've become deeply cynical and have learned to expect the worst. It’s not a good thing.
And, of course, complicating this further is the fact that the Cold War is no longer a part of our day-to-day lives the way it was when the original trilogy was released. Yes there’s Nazi imagery, but there was also a whole heck of a lot of Cold War symbolism and propaganda that gets completely lost in analysis of all the media created after the original three.
So, my perspective is that you're right to be uncomfortable; it’s bullshit. Harmful, capitalist, money-grubbing bullshit; and it's all the more harmful when combined with decreasing levels of knowledge about Nazi/WW2/Holocaust basics. I think you’re absolutely right to see it and be pissed off about the fusion of Nazi imagery with blatant catering to the worst parts of Western political culture.
*I’m not shaming the women who marry these men, or the yacht girls who bang them for the equivalent of my yearly salary. Like, get money bitch Yolanda Foster Hadid fucking won that game. I’m shaming the men who see and treat women as disposable fucktoy accessories. But also, that disgusting fucking pig Randall Emmett can you tell I watch Bravo.

that being said if you haven't watched it what are you doing jk i think you can still read this and hopefully it makes sense 😂 feel free to ask me if there's anything that doesn't make sense lol :)

prologue title and lyrics in this part from "now or never" from the jatp soundtrack
plot and some dialogue from julie and the phantoms so like credit to all those creators and writers 🤪
warnings for this part: car accident, major character deaths (both of these are not actually in writing/"on screen" just implied at the end (especially within the context of this being a jatp au) and nothing really described -- if you want/need more details feel free to ask me)
read on ao3 or under the cut :D

1995
“Dudes, we fucking killed that !” Sam cheers when the smoke has cleared, going around and giving each of them something that could be called a high-five, just not to their hands. Tina laughs and cheers too as Sam excitedly taps her feet after she gets out from behind her kit, still elevated on the drum stage. Some of the workers applaud them from the audience space.
“Too bad we wasted that on the soundcheck,” Artie jokes, putting his guitar down and grabbing his water bottle. “That was the tightest we’ve ever played, yo!”
Tina grins and hops down from the drum platform. Sam slings an arm around her shoulders and she grabs his wrist. They’re both sweaty and too warm but she doesn’t mind having Sam’s heat pressed against her right side.
God, she thinks… that really was something else, even though it was just the soundcheck. She looks around at her bandmates’ faces -- shiny with sweat, red with exhilaration and exertion, bright with elation, eyes wide with excitement and --
Wow. They’re playing the Orpheum.
Blaine pats Artie on the back, jostling him enough to spill the water he’s trying to drink down the front of his shirt, but Artie just laughs -- he’s soaked with sweat anyway. They have spare clothes backstage just for this reason.
“Just wait until tonight, guys, when this place is packed with record execs,” Blaine says, looking out wonderingly into the empty (for now) audience. His grin widens almost imperceptibly, which is impressive considering how huge it already is.
“We’re gonna be legends!” the other three of them chorus, before Blaine can, and they laugh when he turns to them, affronted. “That’s my line!”
“It’s what you get for saying it ten times a day for the last month!” Tina teases. Blaine pushes her shoulder playfully, putting his hand within reach for Sam to grab. It’s a strange position considering Sam’s arm is still around Tina’s shoulders, but Tina adds her hand to their hold as Sam beckons Artie over from his side of the stage, barking out his name with joking anger.
Artie puts his water down and walks over to complete the group, placing his hand on top of Tina’s. “Tina, you were smokin’,” he says.
She rolls her eyes a little and grins back. “Pretty sure you’re just talking about the pyro. You guys were the ones on fire,” she says, pointing her drumsticks around at them.
“T, can you just own your awesomeness for once?” Blaine exclaims.
“Queen T!” Sam calls, pulling her closer into his side. She stumbles into him, laughing as the guys all start cheering it after Sam.
“Okay, okay! Thanks, guys, I got it!” she squeals, trying to get them to quiet down although -- they are in the Orpheum, where they’re playing later, it’s not like they have to be quiet -- while Sam leans his weight on her, causing them to stagger into the drum riser. Tina catches herself on it and Sam finally detaches from her and they’re still being loud and raucous and probably somewhat annoying to the staff, but she’s just laughing too hard to care.
“We’ve got an hour ‘til the show; I say we go celebrate before we become legends!” Blaine proclaims, jumping off the stage. The other three follow.
Tina starts, “Celebrate our last night of being -- ”
“Losers?” Artie interjects.
They’ve caught the attention of one of the Orpheum workers -- a woman with brown hair who’s wiping down the tables, smiling at them as Tina catches her eye. “There’s some nice restaurants around here,” she says with a wink. “You guys really killed it, by the way. But it seems like you know that.”
Blaine laughs, a little sheepishly. “Thanks. Uh, I’m Blaine,” he says. “This is -- ”
“Sam, hi!”
“Tina, how’s it going -- ”
“Artie, hey.”
Tina raises her eyebrows and stifles a laugh at Artie as he leans his sweaty arms onto the table that the woman just cleaned.
“We’re Sunset Curve!” Blaine says to complete their introduction.
“Tell your friends!” Sam calls, raising his voice and drawing the other workers’ attention to them. Tina elbows him lightly in the side.
“Nice to meet you,” the stranger says. “I’m Elle. So… what were you guys thinking for this -- what was it -- ‘celebration of your last night as losers’?”
“Well, we really can’t afford any nice places -- ” Sam starts.
“Oh, you know what? We should just go to Tip Top!” Blaine says, clapping his hands together. The others are quick to agree -- it’s the small, cheap diner where they spent the evening after their first “real” gig, and they’ve spent countless hours there since, annoying the staff and depleting their supply of plastic silverware. The employees there have learned to let them take what they legally can (and sometimes what they couldn’t), and the band is friendly with most of them. They haven’t been there in too long, having been working hard to get the Orpheum gig, and then writing and rehearsing like crazy once they got it.
Elle smiles as they excitedly and loudly recount stories of Tip Top to each other -- sentimental memories and the ridiculousness they got up to -- talking over each other and having multiple conversations at once.
“I guess you don’t need my recommendations?” she says lightly.
“Oh! Yeah, sorry, we’re good, thanks so much for offering,” Blaine answers, polite as ever.
“Have fun! Looking forward to seeing you guys perform again tonight.”
“Thank you!” the four of them exclaim as they make their way back to the exit. Tina yanks on the back of Artie’s shirt as he lingers at the table, a dumb look on his face that tells her he’s trying to flirt, or at least, his version of it.
“Tina!” Artie yelps and she laughs at the annoyed look on his face.
“You are not exempt from this last night of loser-dom celebration. You’re telling me you’d rather flirt with a girl than this?”
“Yes,” Artie grumbles. There’s no heat behind it, and Tina playfully pushes him sideways.
“Plus, we need you to drive.”
“You can drive!”
“Technically we all can drive!” Tina laughs at Artie’s horrified expression, probably at the prospect -- and memory -- of the one time Blaine drove them to a gig. “Just not your car!” she calls, jogging to catch up with Blaine and Sam, Artie running after her. “Your car is the fucking worst.”
“Don’t talk about her like that!”
“Blaine and Sam agree!”
That gets their attention and the two guys turn, Blaine asking, “What are we agreeing with?”
“I agree with Tina,” Sam says immediately. Tina nods gratefully at him.
“You don’t even know what we’re talking about!” Artie complains.
They’re at his beat-up car now and they pile in, Tina in the passenger seat laughing as Sam all but tackles Blaine into the backseat when he starts for the driver’s side, jostling her and Artie in the front. They continue shuffling around while Artie attempts to start the car, to many concerning -- but normal for his car -- noises.
“This thing is gonna go down and take us with it, Artie,” Tina mumbles teasingly, absentmindedly twirling a drumstick in her right hand. (She realizes too late that she probably should’ve left them at the Orpheum, but it’s not a big deal -- they’re not her favorite pair which are safe in their studio and she has extras backstage in case something happens to this pair while they’re out.)
The car finally starts with a rumble and Artie lets out a cheer. “We’re fine, T. Let’s go, y’all!”
“Floor it, Artie!” Sam calls from the back. The car accelerates comically slowly even as Artie presumably “floors it,” but they’re going somewhere.
After a few minutes, Tina finds herself unconsciously humming her solo in the bridge of “Now or Never,” only noticing when Sam interjects suddenly with his “Tomorrow!” leaning between the front seats and slightly startling her. She laughs and continues with the words, “‘Cause we got all we need today! ”
“Today!” Artie echoes, miming his guitar playing with one hand on the steering wheel.
“Living on a feeling that’s been running through our veins!” Blaine sings loudly, joining Sam in crowding into the front of the car.
“We’re the revolution that’s been singing in the rain!” It’s Sam’s line, but they all belt it at the top of their lungs together.
“That’s my line!” Sam exclaims at the same time that Blaine cheers, “My favorite line!” Tina continues to clap the beat for the next part of the song, Artie hitting the steering wheel in rhythm with her. Her face hurts from smiling.
“Artie, dude, where’d you go?” Blaine asks suddenly. Tina looks around at their slowly darkening surroundings that are completely unfamiliar. Slight panic rises in her stomach but she swallows it down; she’s with her boys, they’re safe, just a little lost.
Sam bursts out in uproarious laughter as Artie complains, “You guys distracted me!”
“Told you I should’ve driven!” Blaine says. He leans forward again and Sam follows. Tina stays quiet, pressing herself against the door a little to make room; her boys aren’t that much better but she’s always been completely hopeless with navigation and directions.
“You would’ve gotten even more distracted from singing and veered us right into a fucking building,” Artie grumbles, but he obeys as Blaine directs him to turn left and chooses to ignore his comment.
“Safe driving, am I right, dudes?” Sam cackles as he returns to the backseat, and Tina can’t help but laugh with him. “We’re gonna miss our gig, that’s how we’ll be legends!”
“‘Sunset Curve Skips Orpheum Showcase For No Reason’?” Tina suggests, turning around in her seat to face Sam.
He points at her. “Exactly. Or, 'Sunset Curve Skips Orpheum Showcase Because They Don't Know How To Drive.' The end of a promising career,” he jokes somberly. “No one would ever book them again.”
They fall silent and only the mutters of Blaine and Artie fill the car, along with the loud engine.
“Still haven’t figured it out yet?” Sam groans loudly, laying on his back across the backseats as Blaine is leaning awkwardly out of his seat to help Artie navigate.
“Not like you’re helping!” Artie says.
“That’s the street!” Blaine exclaims, pointing ahead. “The next intersection.”
“Give it up for Mr. Blaine Anderson, everyone,” Artie drawls, speeding up the car a little bit. “Perhaps not able to drive, but navigator extraordinaire.”
“You chose the wrong career path, dude,” Sam says, propping himself up on one elbow to clap Blaine’s shoulder. “Like, songwriting?”
Blaine looks down at him, raising an eyebrow. “Songwriting?” He gestures for Sam to continue.
Sam shrugs, sitting up finally. “Just, you know, songwriting, bro…" His gaze suddenly shifts and fixes at a point beyond Tina. "What th-- that car Artie!”
Tina snaps her gaze away from Sam just in time to see him yank Blaine down into his seat and the set of blinding headlights through the car windows in her periphery.

as a final note, i'm not sure if it can be seen this way but i'm not trying to erase artie's disability or anything and i believe i'm not doing that; as you might be able to guess, the car accident at the end of this is what paralyzes him, like in glee canon but just several years later (in his life not in actual time). please let me know if any aspect of this is disrespectful or anything <3

And this WOULD change the state of the discourse, but only slightly. Homestuck, while still classed as "cringe" by many, has the benefit of being "old" in internet years and thus its fans have developed a kind of "edgy" tilt to their enjoyment of it. It's "cool" in some circles to like Homestuck, precisely because it's "cringe" in others. Good Omens, on the other hand, is still relatively young (the show at least. "Fandom history" people like to conveniently forget about the book existing), and is considered across the board, by edgelords and hipsters and gay neoclassicists alike, to be "normie" and "cringe" or whatever. However it does have a significantly strong fandom base on this website, "cringe" or not, who could show up for a poll like that. Meanwhile all the people valorizing a made-up version of anywhere from 1960 to 1995 would still treat anything with the word "dyke" in the title as an inherent all-knowing pillar of Queer History and thus still be posting about how gomens is "only gay by accident" or whatever even though, like Homestuck, it literally has girls kissing in it. Like on purpose. Idk I just think I'd LIVE for the drama. Everyone would be so so so so annoying and I'd just get to sit back and enjoy it. This is my alternate timeline
I try to pretend I'm above this sort of thing but deep in my soul I AM a catty bitch who loves drama and to this day I'm mad Homestuck beat out goomens in those "queer media tournament" polls ONLY because the discourse of Good Omens vs Dykes to Watch Out For Queer Media Tournament would be so awful and so funny. 9/11 for annoying people

where the world is a long whistle // a Black Widow flashback
About: SPOILERS FOR THE BEGINNING OF BLACK WIDOW // It's 1995. Natasha is thirteen, and her hair is her own. It’s filled with bright blue dye and roots that bleed through when she can’t convince Milena to buy more. She does not dream of adventures. Melina does not dream at all.
Notes: Spoilers for the beginning of Black Widow + read on ao3
Yelena’s hair has always been filled with dirt. With leaves and twigs and childish dreams of big adventures. She giggles underneath the stars and tells them about Daddy’s stories. “He says the hills and mountains are taller than everything. Even the schools. And just one yell will make an avalanche, and the whole mountain will swallow us up. Like this!” She leaps from her spot on the ground to tickle Natasha.
Natasha lets the attack come without shifting out of reach. She rolls in the dirt of their backyard and curls up at her sides where Yelena’s little fingers dig into her skin. She smiles because the tickle monster is the only one Yelena’s ever known.
Milena smiles too. Hers is less subdued than Natasha’s. Maybe it’s because she’s older. Maybe she can enjoy this more, can relax into what three years undercover have made of them. She lies back in the dirt with eyes closed and shoulders eased. She doesn’t study them anymore. The way she keeps track of where they go and what they’re doing — she’s less of a monitor and more of a real guardian. A gentle reminder to come home before all the lights are off, to wash her face because faces need washing and not for anyone else’s approval.
Natasha breaks out of Yelena’s hold and pins her down gently by the sternum. Her arm’s barely holding Yelena to the ground. Still, Yelena squeaks, “No fair, Natasha! Let me go!”
Milena warns her, “Let her go.” So Natasha does. “Good girl.”
If she is so good…. Natasha turns in the dirt to face Milena. “Can we stay?”
Yelena giggles, unaware. “Yeah, camping! I’ll get the tents!” She pops up and runs to the house, taking the light with her.
Natasha is thirteen, and her hair is her own. It’s filled with bright blue dye and roots that bleed through when she can’t convince Milena to buy more. Dye over raised bumps from old head wounds and a stitches scar that has probably healed in the last five years. She buys her own clothes, and people see her as Natasha. She can’t be invisible again.
“Can we stay?” she asks a second time.
Milena doesn’t even open her eyes. “You know the plan.”
“The plan,” Natasha repeats in a mumble. The plan is to infiltrate and blend in. The plan is to live a life until some day, somehow, it all gets ripped away. Where does Yelena go when the plan is done? To be like them? And where does Natasha go? Back? “You don’t spar with me anymore. You don’t do your logs. You don’t—”
“Natasha.” The warning comes out more stern. “Stop studying me.”
“You trained me to study. I think….” She drops her voice to the dirt. “I think you want to stay too.”
Milena inhales deeply. “I want a bigger house next time. There’s not enough space. You girls keep getting bigger. Yelena wants a dog.”
Natasha snaps, “I’m serious.”
Milena cracks an eye to meet her gaze. “So am I. It couldn’t be here, but maybe, maybe there will be another plan.”
Natasha scoots closer in the dirt. Her shorts are ruined, but she can take the lecture, or the lashings, or anything else. She grabs hold of Milena’s hand. “We can make our own plan. Start somewhere new.” Far out of their reach, she adds with her eyes.
There’s a tinge of panic in Milena’s in response. Mostly, though, there’s a beaten down resolve. A resignation. “Dad would never—”
“Then without, Dad.” Natasha can’t disguise the hard edge to her voice. The urgency nicks her tongue and leaves her mouth tasting of blood the way it used to. “You, me, and Yelena. He doesn’t understand.” But Milena knows what they have to give up to be a Widow — who they have to become. She should be on Natasha’s side.
Her eyes harden into a glare. “You don’t understand,” Milena hisses. Her Mommy voice switches off, as her real one takes over. The one with the glint of they were trained to be. “This is not real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can enjoy it for what it is.”
Natasha grinds her teeth to keep her jaw from shaking. “And what is that?”
“A long whistle. Fun while it lasts, but in the end?” Milena whistles a long tune, and Yelena returns it in the distance, none the wiser. “It’s nothing but hot air.”
The words burn into Natasha’s chest. Lapping at whatever hope might have been there. Her nails dig into her palms as she clenches her fists. Milena is wrong. This could be real. She only needs a few more years. A few more, and she can have a car that can take them far away. She can stash a few knives beneath the seat. A gun in the glove compartment. Another in Yelena’s backpack. Yelena won’t know how to use it, or even know it’s there. She will never have to know. They will be free, far from Widows and what’s waiting for them. If they hold their breath long enough, the whistle never has to end.
.
.
.
notes: there will be more for Black Widow, and these sisters, though I don't know if it will be a continuation of this extra scene. idk, I have a lot of emotions.

tl;dr she’s a deranged menace to society
BASICS
hometown: milford, pennsylvania
eye color: brown
hair color:  blonde
height: 5′3
sexuality: bisexual
birthday: january 19, 1995 ( capricorn )
BIO
regan’s mother was never the type to settle down. before meeting morpheus, her longest relationship had been three months. so when the guy seemed commitment-phobic, that was perfect for her. until, of course, she found out she was pregnant. she didn’t want to get married but she was at an age where the idea of motherhood...didn’t repulse her. so she wanted to keep the baby, at which point the father of her child didn’t get down on one knee, he started to explain the kinds of responsibilities she’d face as the mother of his child.
having the child of a god in her womb inflated her ego, which was pretty impressive considering how big it already was. see, regan’s mother was a southern belle without any of the class or manners. she’d breezed through the pageant circuit as a teen, winning a number of titles with minimal effort. her talent was essentially crying on demand and looking pretty while doing it. knowing she’d slept with a god, like an honest to...god felt sort of fitting. like, duh, who else would she have her first child with?
this also led to a brief but intense fixation with shakespeare, who name dropped gods like it was his job, which led to her choosing the name regan from king lear.
she moved to pennsylvania with regan when her daughter was only four years old, because some guy practically begged her to let him take care of her, and she had nowhere better to go. until, eventually, she did, thanks to the world of avon. her mother started selling out of boredom but then it turned out she was good at it, so good that she could easily buy a place once she got bored of her rich boyfriend, and move out with regan.
thankfully, her mother got out of the pyramid scheme before she got in too deep. she was hired by an actual, reputable cosmetics company and given a desk job to work in sales, which she was still a natural at. because she had a full time job now, regan spent a lot of time with nannies...and that’s nannies plural because regan was one of those kids who drove her caretakers to quit on a regular basis.
but not because she was a handful. she was pretty self-sufficient, actually, and totally well-behaved, she was just kind of...weird. she’d leave her room for dinner with all of her clothes suddenly on backwards and say nothing as if it was normal and act confused when her nanny asked about it. she’d stare at the tv when it was off, she’d spend one day only speaking in whispers, she’d write vaguely threatening messages on the mirror with her mother’s red lipstick.
all of this was because regan knew it was scary to adults, which made it fun for her. she wasn’t, like, actually disturbed. well, aside from the dreams she had sometimes. she’d have a dream about a baby bird falling from a nest, she’d watch its chest move for minutes before it died, then she’d wake up the next day and find a dead bird outside the sliding glass doors to the backyard.
for a while she thought they were coincidences. then she thought she was making things happen in her sleep, and that it was her job to stop bad things from happening, to save every baby bird that asked for help in her dreams. it took her a few years to accept that just because she sometimes saw the future didn’t mean she had any power to change it. she was warned so she could prepare herself, which only made her feel more powerless.
but being regan, she chose to cope with this aspect of her life with avoidance and humor. she doesn’t want to pick and choose what she worries about and what she doesn’t, so she decided a long time ago not to take anything seriously.
for reasons unknown, regan’s mother actually decided to have another child after regan. but she was unconventional, too, hence regan being...the way she is, so she never actually married the father of regan’s half-brother, but they have been together for the past 15 years, so.
her brother is eleven years younger than she is, so in regan’s mind, a baby. whenever left with the task of babysitting him while the two were growing up, it would be regan who suggested ice cream for breakfast and sock sliding around the living room at dangerous speeds.
RANDOM FACTS
i want to v*mit saying this but.....she’s kind of like........the female version of stevesuptic. except for she’s cute <3
her entire twitch account is kind of satirical, like it’s very hard to gauge what her actual personality is. i don’t think her viewers bully her the way they bully steve bc she would bully them back LMAO but they ask her a lot of random ass super weird sometimes borderline disturbing questions and she answers them like it’s normal
she def has weird/creepy drawings whenever playing gartic phone tho /:
ig you could say her channel is like shit posting but make it a streamer. she has a really nice set up and she always looks made up in her streams but then the content is her playing like a cat dating sim for four hours
she’s actually pretty shit at most games that require any level of skill and her following comes entirely from her personality and her Brand ig, she’s just entertaining to watch bc she says and does the most ??? things. like she’s not a gamer girl and doesn’t say she is she just has a twitch and plays games for the attention
also she has a cat named muffintop (best part of the muffin, not the offensive term for a woman’s stomach, though she will say that’s what it means if someone asks) who she regularly posts memes of and like most of her twitch emotes are her cat. you can find examples on her pinterest board lmao
i think it’s pretty hard to get an actual vision out of regan? she mostly keeps those to herself and just lies about her dreams. she’ll just be like, “yeah actually i had a dream you were gonna choke on some oatmeal so stay safe out there.” she’s also only partially sure when a dream is actually about the future.
her like <3 symbol that represents her is butterflies, she has a ton of butterfly shit
POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS
idk if i am requesting a roommate for once, idk if i wanna subject anyone to that
someone naive who believes her any time she says something is Going To Happen, no matter how stupid it is and no matter how many times things simply do not happen??
a bestie because...............................i just feel like she wormed her way into someone’s inner circle and they’re just stuck with her now

Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie Review (w spoilers)
Just wanted to get this off my chest now that the movie’s been released in America. I watched this on 8th April when it was first released in Singapore, and two more times the following week.
So, overall I give the movie about a 6.5-7/10 or C+. Acting: Decent Story: Average at best Action: Above average to Good Gore: Graphic but not as often or much Best highlights: Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Costuming
I’ll be referencing some comments by others about the movie, but this’ll all be my opinions. I reviewed the movie based on my understanding that it’s a low budget film before even watching the movie. I am also a fan of the game (though I do not play, I watched most of the lore)
-------
When I first watched the movie, I was excited. The intro showing Hanzo Hasashi’s backstory would be something familiar to fans of the game. As expected, his wife and child were killed, but as we know it, they have an extra baby girl who later survives and carries on the bloodline. At this point, I was already ‘eh’ because it was so predictable what happens next. I was already disappointed that they named the son ‘Jyubei’ in the subtitles, when the wife didn’t even utter his name in Japanese. In the game, Hanzo’s son is called Satoshi. But one can say that’s something petty.
Anyways, as it goes on, we meet Joe Taslim as Bi-Han. He’s menacing, he’s cocky and has the presence that fills the screen. Already, I was smitten. While some people were saying the movie is rushed, I’d say this part of the intro felt a little draggy. But, the fight scene after is great, and we see Hanzo and Bi-Han throw hands.
I’d have to say at this point: ALL fight scenes including  Bi-Han/Sub-Zero were great. They’re the best. Every other fight scene with the other characters were decent but not great.
Then we get introduced to Cole Young. From the get go, I do not like new characters not in the lore. I’m that type of person who does not like original characters in fanfiction. And his story further made me feel that a lot of time was wasted on him. Mortal Kombat has story elements around family, yes, but it’s not central, and it made the movie too wholesome and not in a way that I feel implemented well. In my opinion, it made the movie a little cringey at times. I like Lewis Tan who plays Cole but unfortunately he’s been given a role that was completely unnecessary.
A Youtube reviewer said it best: Why make up an entirely new character when there’s a plethora of characters to choose from? Heck, if you want him related to Hanzo, you could have used Takeda or something (though yes i know hes not related to Hanzo, but he could be like a distant cousin relative whatever, with Takehashi on one of this other parents side).
There’s Jax and Sonya - why not just use Sonya? She’s the one gathering all the information. They could have used her.
Anyway, moving on. We also meet Kano. He was good and I see a lot of people loved him. Personally I thought he was okay, but he was too comedic in my opinion and felt underwhelming. While funny quips and mockery are appreciated, he felt like what Liu Kang called him: A small, angry little bunny. Not at all what I’d expect of the leader of Black Dragon.
There was... it that supposed to be Reptile? I honestly do not know, but I don’t believe that’s the Reptile we know from the game, and more of a mindless monster that has Reptile’s abilities.
I loved Sonya in this movie. Jessica McNamee was amazing as her. One - she’s attractive as hell, and Two - she felt far more relatable than Cole Young. From her being a soldier living in her ‘shithole’, to her curiosity in trying to find out more about the Mortal Kombat tournament.
They look for Raiden’s Temple in the desert. This was a little slow and again, I say Kano just felt like a chump here. A try-hard doing his best to appear intimidating but failing.
Liu Kang appears. Kano won’t shut up. Liu Kang’s introduction was interesting and I liked it, but later on his monologues and exaggerated actions were so odd and ‘extra’ to me that I was cringing. I don’t know why they don’t just make him a normal guy who’s a Shaolin monk lol.
Raiden is as cranky as we know him in the game. He’s kinda dull here, but to be honest, so is he in the game, so I don’t mind it. I saw someone compare him to the 1995 version which while I enjoyed and appreciated, did not think he suited the game and movie. So Tadanobu Asano’s Raiden is fine to me! Also, shut up to the people who get on others’ case on the way they pronounce Raiden. In Japanese it’s Rai-den, not Ray-den, like they say in the game. Both are correct, so shut up.
Sub-Zero makes an entrance again, menacingly running down the hall and making me sploosh, and Kung Lao also makes an entrance. Here you can see how poor the CG is. This is where you can tell the budget is low and realise that all the sets we’ve seen so far is pretty small and closed.
The ‘arcana’ thing that they made up to explain their powers was honestly pretty smart and I quite liked it. It then becomes a training arc, which while understandably can be seen as slow, it’s quite needed for the story.
The villains in this story were sadly underutilised. Admittedly I am unfamiliar with Nitara and Reiko, so them being throwaway characters did not affect me. Kabal, while very charismatic, died but I felt it was a decent end. I personally wish they could have included him more. However, for Mileena and Goro, I could see the moment I watched it that people were gonna be mad. I’m not fans of either of them but I understood that they are major characters in the game. So for them to be offed that easily was... tbh very disappointing and quite insulting. I sincerely hope they will bring back Mileena for the next movie, experimented on and brought to life using Kitana’s blood or something.
But best villain? Obviously goes to Bi-Han/Sub-Zero. Honestly I went into the movie expecting to root for Scorpion but I ended up being so in love with Joe Taslim’s menacing and chilling portrayal of Sub-Zero. He’s soooo good. People said he was like a slasher film villain and I think they made a great choice doing so!
As for Cole - I’m still not a fan of him or his powers. I like they used tonfas, but as some called it - he has literally plot armour which, tru. Hahahhaa.
So finally after all that, we finally get to the last fight.
Sub-Zero is about to kill Cole then Scorpion is summoned. They both fight and actually one can see Scorpion is winning? He got more hits in than Sub-Zero (two stabs, a side slash and a throw from Scorp, meanwhile Sub got one slash and a throw) so I don’t understand why people thought he actually needed help from Cole.
Also, this is another major complaint about the ‘wholesomeness’. Why was Hanzo’s family killed but Cole’s family spared by Sub-Zero? Why couldn’t they just killed them off for extra weight to the story instead of making it so safe? I felt that would have redeemed Cole’s character as more of  Mortal Kombat character if they did so.
But I really enjoyed the fight here. As I mentioned all fights that involved Sub-Zero are amazing and people not giving the credit to this fight scene are blind. I also saw a comment that said they were expecting ‘John-Wick level’ of fight. Both fair and unfair comment because: It’s a low budget movie and they are two different styles of movies. John Wick is more realistic while this one is more fantastical. Though for them to call this a Marvel level choreography... I’m not sure bc Marvel put a lot of money, so that means for their budget the MK movie did well? So IDK but I believe the fight choreography was good in this most especially in the Sub-Zero/Scorpion fights.
Fatalities were great, costuming were great and for the sets while small and enclosed they did good.
Story could have been better and I cannot stress how much I find Cole’s role completely pointless. Pacing wise I actually do not find a problem with it. I only wished for more fighting and less about ‘family’.
From the movie overall I understood it as to be a set up, and even before watching it, from the trailers, I somehow knew it was not going to have a tournament so I don’t know why all these people in comments are lamenting about the lack of a tournament. It feels clear to me that this is a set up movie and more are to come.
So while I have a lot of issues with this movie, I do think it’s a fun watch which is why I give it a pretty generous score imo.
Hopefully we’ll have more to come, improving everything in all aspects with hopefully a bigger budget!

Do you have any recs for early gay movies?
hi! i'm flattered to be asked, tho i've gotta say i definitely don't have the most extensive knowledge of earlier gay cinema (i've only been watching movies seriously since like this february so i still have a lot to learn and see myself) but here are some things that come to mind (also i don't know how early you want but i tried to stay between 1970 and the mid 90s since that's what i'm most familiar with):
Parting Glances (1986), The Living End (1992), Totally Fucked Up (1993), Fox and His Friends (1975), Law of Desire (1987), The Birdcage (1996, and La Cage aux Folles 1978, both based on the same play), The Wedding Banquet (1993), The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (1995), Bound (1996), Beautiful Thing (1996), Poison (1991), My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), My Own Private Idaho (1991), Something For Everyone (1970, kinda? idk this one is pretty weird lmao), Victor/Victoria (1982), Coming Out (1989), Paris is Burning (1990)
some things i haven't seen yet, but are on my watchlist:
Victim (1961), A Taste of Honey (1961), Desert Hearts (1985), Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), The Watermelon Woman (1996), Go Fish (1994), Longtime Companion (1989), To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995), Tongues Untied (1989), Swoon (1992), Edward II (1991), The Boys in the Band (1970), Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971), Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt (1989)
you could also look into New Queer Cinema and related directors, or there are a bunch of movie lists on letterboxd that are a lot more comprehensive
ps. since this is a pretty random selection, some are more heavy than others, so definitely proceed with caution (for example early Gregg Araki movies can be.. A lot lmao)

My everything. -Luke Patterson x Reader.
Tumblr media
(GIF CREDITS TO OWNER)
Summary: How Luke’s girl, brings him and his family to peace.
A/N: @arianagrandes-things requested:  Hi !! Can you do a request for Luke x reader in which they are a couple but the band didn't die and instead became famous and it's like their future together. I dont do and like the reader meet his mom and he make the peace with his parents. Idk something like that like very cute and fluff 💖
-
It's 1995; the year of many beautiful moments. While ones got to enjoy it, by going to expensive dates with their partners, the band Sunset Curve had just finished playing at their biggest show. They thanked their fans for coming to watch them, and exited the stage, all sweaty from the lights that surrounded the area.
-Hey Bobby, -said Luke, -are you coming to celebrate with us? -No, I'm going on a date with Rose. Sorry guys. -he waved a goodbye to them, and disappeared from the dressing room. -What are you going to do guys? -said Reggie, to Luke and Alex, who were getting dressed in new clothes. -I have no plans, dude. -said Alex. -Well---I do. See you fellas. -said Luke; his eyes stuck to his phone, as he exited the dressing room, not too long after Bobby. -Guess we're stuck with each other dude. Singles as Pringles. -Reggie draped his arm over Alex's shoulder and the two friends walked out, to go and at least the two of them, celebrate the success of their show.
Luke was nervously swinging back and forth, from his toes to his heels; waiting for the one person he spotted in the big crowd. He waved goodbye to Reggie and Alex, who met him at the door on their way out. -Congratulations! -someone jumped next to him with flowers. He got scared and scooted a bit, just to find his biggest love, lovingly staring at him with the biggest smile on her face. -You scared me, pretty girl. -he pulled her in a hug, nuzzling his nose in her shoulder. When they split apart, Y/N gave him the flowers and a kiss on his cheeks. -Thank you, love. -You rocked the show. I've never sang so loud in my life. -You're letting the people know who's Sunset Curve's biggest fan, huh? -he intertwined his hand with hers and they started walking together. -I mean---a few songs on the album are written for me, why not at least be happy to have such an amazing songwriter in my life, who had written those words for me. Luke let out a short laugh, before speaking again, -I want you to meet my parents. Y/N suddenly stopped. She didn't know her 17-year-old boyfriend, would be so determined about his girlfriend meeting his parents so fast, but she was also very honored that he'd want something like that. She was speechless, one side of her got scared: What if his parents wouldn't love her? -What? Is there something wrong? -No, no, just---I don't know if they'll love me. What if they think I'm not enough for you? -Y/N. -he cupped her face, -A person like you cannot be unloved. You're the word 'love' yourself, now come on let's go, mum and dad are waiting for us. -Wait. -she stopped, -You made up with your mum? -I did. -he smiled at the ground. -I listened to one person that told me, to apologize and make up before things are too late, and I sat down thinking and understood that, she was right. Y/N wrapped her arms around his waist, as her head rested on his chest, before intertwining her hand with Luke's.
- The smell of Emily's amazing meals was coming to the outside. Luke knocked on the door, and the couple appeared to greet them. Emily gave Y/N the tightest hug and whispered a 'thank you'. Mitch shook hands with her and tapped his son on the back, after, closing the door and accompanying the family at the table. Luke's mum filled their plates with her amazing meals, and they all got to meet Y/N; the girl never stopped talking about to them. After having the chance of being alone at the table, with two cups of coffee, Emily couldn't hold back her curiosity. -Y/N, -she started, -how did you change Luke's mind about making up with us? -Mrs. Patterson, a good quote could always awaken the reasonable side in a person. -she took a sip from her coffee. Emily was still confused, and Y/N smiled when she realized it.  -"Apologizing doesn't always mean you're wrong and the other person is right. It just means you value your relationship more than your ego." -What are you two talking about, huh? -he sat down next to his mum, pulling her in a side hug. -I'll pick up the table. -said Y/N, collecting the empty plates and cups, and taking them to the kitchen, winking at Emily from afar. She understood what the girl was doing, and Emily turned to her son. -Do not ever, ever in life, let go of this girl's hand. She's the best thing that could probably happen to this family, Luke. -said Emily, squeezing her son's hand. -I won't mum, I promise you. She's my everything. -Luke said through a few tears in his eyes, then tightly hugging his mum.
- After the talking the family did, they gathered in the living room, where Luke had a tight grip of Y/N's body, as if someone would've taken her from him. -What are you thinking about the future, Y/N? -asked Mitch. -I want to study and finish with college. Then, I'll probably be my own boss with my own place. I think it's the best success when you start from 0. -she smiled. -What about me? -Luke whispered to her, loud enough for his parents to hear, winking at them. The girl's cheeks roamed in shades of pink, and she cleared her throat. -You---I know you'll always be my support and I know you'll always be there for me. But, when we both have settled in our jobs, and have made it clear for our future together, then we'll talk about marriage and kids. For now, we're still young to talk about that, but I do not see myself with someone other than you. -I'm going to be a rich man, since you'll be mine. -he kissed her knuckles. -We're so glad to know that, there's a person like you in our son's life. Someone who still accepts him after his mistakes. -said Emily, taking a hold of Mitch's hand. -If we don't accept each other by our mistakes, then we don't truly love, Mrs. Patterson. Luke is still young and he has a long journey of learning life-lessons. -Very true my dear. Come, let's go make some hot chocolate together. -she sat up, followed by Y/N, as the two women in Luke's life, walked happily to the kitchen. Luke's eyes were filled with admirement, and Mitch realized it, -They are two most beautiful people in our lives, huh? -They really are. My everything. -said Luke, throwing a sad smile at his dad.
