I was TRAPPED in NEW JERSEY when I got tagged for this and it had me rattling my cage. But now! I am home! And I can go hunting for some THEN. And I'm gonna ramble.

Please enjoy my LIVE REACTION to Dusk standing up in a cutscene, so very long ago, in February, 2019:

As I've said here and there, Dusk was kind of an experiment for me. I thought elezen looked weird as hell, but in a way that intrigued me, and it made me try to make one I liked the look of ... and Dusk was the result.

I BELIEVE this is my first attempt at a real glam, although I was still getting a handle on how to dress his goofy ass. I also had no idea gpose existed yet. Hiding UI for me, baby!

PS: he was an arcanist for his starter class, something everyone, including my husband, usually forgets. And for good reason, I rarely play SCH or SMN any more. Although I do have warm memories of Stormblood-era emerald carbuncle welcoming me to the game by aggroing 9868356386 sheep in an attempt on my life.

It took until me getting into Stormblood content before I started trying to do gpose things! And I did it pretty rarely, I was busy trying to finish the MSQ so I'd be ready for this expansion that was coming out soon. Shadowbringers or whatever.

It wasn't until I finished 5.0 that I got consistent with him wearing his glasses 95% of the time, but aside from that and some new white highlights that you couldn't really see, there was basically no change between baby sprout Dusk and Big Boy Current Content Dusk. It cracks me up that I lost my sprout when I finished HW, btw, knowing when sprouts go away now.

And in Endwalker, his big changes?

He got his EW GNB suit I use constantly and changed his ear clasps to something brassy instead of silver. Oh, and got a husband. I also started messing with crime, finally.

I thought he'd be basically the same in Dawntrail, since I had gone so many years barely changing him at all. I thought he'd just get graphical upgraded to sexier ears and otherwise just be Dusk as we always knew him. But I was wrong!

He grew his hair out SLIGHTLY. I assume it'll be another 4-5 years before I change him again.

-Look I know this question is under the guise of each character WANTING kids but I CANNOT see Lawerence genuinely wanting kids

As a member of the DCA Fandom and TSAMS fan I NEED more people to make Canon (from the games) Sun and TSAMS Sun interact. Be it platonically or in this case, romantically. They could be enemies to lovers who make each other better in the end. Note, this rant is mainly about Canon Sun’s thoughts on TSAMS Sun, if anyone wants to add the inverse they are more then welcome.

Canon Sun (at least in the books) started out as an act for the theater before getting thrown into the daycare. He’s never been outside the Pizzaplex, and possibly hasn’t left the daycare. He can’t go on the internet, watch TV, or buy things. He seemingly doesn’t know the Glamrocks personality and only has the kids in the daycare for company. He’s fighting Moon for control over his own body. And then there’s TSAMS Sun who leaves the daycare every day to go to his house filled with the groceries he bought where he can relax and watch TV with his three other siblings, his nephew, his daughter, and his Moon, who’s in a his own body. And I think the biggest kicker for Canon Sun would be that TSAMS Sun was made to a daycare attendant. He didn’t have to learn the ropes by himself under the threat of getting decommissioning if he fucked up the job Fazbear didn’t prepare him for. He’s so good with the kids and almost always knows exactly what to do. He can control his temper around them and knows what punishments are needed if any are needed at all. I think Canon Sun would so incredibly jealous of TSAMS Sun’s life at first. I don’t know if there’s anything TSAMS Sun would be jealous about, on account of Canon Sun being perpetually stuck in a mashup of two of TSAMS Sun’s biggest traumas (sharing a body with Moon and fighting Eclipse for control), but Canon would probably be rude and/or passive aggressive as hell to him and he’d probably return that, or maybe he’d have some sympathy for him because of the whole “being stuck in my hell” thing.

But eventually, Canon sees that Tsams has his own shit going on. For one, when TSAMS Sun and Moon shared a body it was a nonstop war. I’m pretty sure they’ve confirmed in TSAMS that switching out with the lights was a compromise they made. While yes, Sun was naturally dominant and Moon had to fight to front, every time Moon as much as blinked, it would put Sun in agony. It was literally designed by that roach to be painful, and probably there so they would fight each other instead of him. Another thing, TSAMS Sun also had to fight for control. And yes he did have his Moon to help him, but not only his Moon was also the one to put him in that situation in the first place, he also threatened to kill him if he didn’t control it. And that’s not even counting the fact that TSAMS Moon was actually abuse towards his Sun for the longest time. Canon would absolutely fucking despite TSAMS Moon btw. And TSAMS’s daughter? And that’s not even touching the multiple people who’ve tried to kill Sun for whatever reason or family drama. Basically Canon Sun would be jealous of TSAMS until he realized he has his own shit going on.

Ok onto the romance part. Starting with the jealousy phase. “I want to be you but I also want to kiss you” is a fun and messy trope. He slowly begins to idolize TSAMS because he began to mistake a better life for being a better person. And during this whole thing TSAMS Sun is either thinking, “what’s his problem?” but still finds himself drawn to Canon or “I guess I’d be like that if I was stuck with an Eclipse-Moon” and wants to help. But as Canon Sun starts to cool down and lose his jealousy he starts idolizing TSAMS even more. Meanwhile TSAMS starts to idolize Canon, wishing he could be more assertive and that he could stand up for himself. That he could be that goofy in the face of torment, even if it was a mask. As Canon tries to make up TSAMS, they start getting closer. At some point during that they start to acknowledge their feelings. I’d imagine in some dramatic moment where one of them realizes the other idolizes them and they share what they wish they had that they see in each other, a confession accidentally slips through. When they’re together, Canon tries to help TSAMS be more assertive and TSAMS helps Canon calm down.

i love complicated batshit games where each of your abilities has like 5 paragraphs of text and like 10 different conditional activations determined by like the time of day and your geographical location and your zodiac sign and all of that shit, i think it's so fun.

I'm also in the Mouthwashing fandom, and it too has a bunch of issues. Infantilising Curly and minimising his actions, making Swansea to be better than he actually is and ignoring that he knew of the SA, people still debating or not realising that Jimmy raped Anya in the first place, shipping Jimmy and Curly (which isn't even a bad thing or a real problem but this person would see it that way), ect. These next comments especially piss me off (nevermind how they're talking about an abuse survivor which is gross already). This might be a hot take and I don't care if that's the case, but I think people refusing to call Jimmy by name and excluding him from the cast is not show of a "good" fandom, actually. Jimmy has a lot more to him besides being a rapist. Rape culture, toxic masculinity, capitalistic exploitation, misogyny, male dominance-- there's sooo much more to explore and discuss about his character besides him being a rapist. And he's an incredibly disturbing character in a fucking horror game. If you can only refer to him by some stupid nickname (which takes away the seriousness of his character imo), ignore the significance of his role and themes in the story and the rest of his character and reduce him to a single trait that's BAD. That's not a good thing, and in fact, probably makes you worse than the people that do like his character because they can at least separate fiction and reality and not scrap well written disturbing characters for the sake of "comfort" or moral standing (again, in a horror game of all things). People shouldn't feel bad for liking Jimmy because he's a very good character, and ignoring that completely and acting like there aren't people who could like him... kinda sucks?

Moving over, Valentino is not and has NEVER been portrayed in a positive light in the show. I can't wrap my head around people that genuinely think that. Whenever I hear people say that the arguments I always see are "he shouldn't be attractive" and "he's just a cartoon villain" and "he acts silly and quirky even tho he's a rapist" among other things, and I don't think these people realise they're spouting eugenics bullshit and demonstrating that they don't know anything about his character simultaneously. No, Valentino isn't a "positive" portrayal of a rapist because he's attractive (way to tie morality to appearance btw). No, Valentino isn't a positive portrayal of a rapist because he acts goofy and funny and silly. Those traits are intentional and important to his character. Val is the Overlord of lust and depravity, hell's most famous pimp. His beauty is how he lures in unsuspecting sinners, and his personality is how he gains their trust and gets them to sell their souls for him to exploit (notice how Angel signed his soul away willingly). He's supposed to be appealing. He's supposed to be charming. He's entire persona is meant to be disarming. If he were like Jimmy or just a one-note unlikeable guy, his position in the show and his relationships with the characters wouldn't make sense, so he isn't. That doesn't make him a more positive portrayal or anything, it just means he's more fleshed out and written more complex than you want him to be. He's a very real depiction of an abuser, of their two-faced nature and how being attractive and charming to others doesn't make you less of an abusive monster to someone else. For context, I have been abused by someone extremely similar to Val, so his depiction feels very real to me and it's extremely tiring seeing a bunch of assholes who have probably not even seen the show or have been abused act like he's "romanticised" or "unrealistic" or "bad" simply because he was written by Vivziepop (who's ALSO an SA survivor like what is wrong with you 💀).

This is a broader point and not entirely related to this specific case, but we don't give people shit like this over people liking murderers and serial killers-- acting like all a sudden liking a rapist character says something negative about their writing or about the people that like them is INCREDIBLY stupid. People don't talk like this about Alastor and Vox-- who are both VERY despicable people. Both of them are also abusers among other horrible things, but they're not (or at least Alastor isn't) rapists so they're "not as bad". This is a sentiment I see all the time in both the fandom and hatedom whenever Valentino discourse comes back up, and this line of logic that rapists are a unique evil that can't be liked as characters in fiction but murderers and cannibals and serial killers are totally Ok is so dangerous and backwards. Liking evil characters says nothing about you as a person aside from the fact that you're a freak in the fun way. Liking evil characters but then going after others who do as well because you consider their character "too evil" and watering down the crimes of yours to justify liking them says a lot about you tho. Saying that the characters you like says something negative you in general does too.

We seriously need to stop bringing morality into fiction and saying that "normal" people wouldn't like certain immoral characters. We need to stop ostracising people for their "problematic" ships, proudly brag about ostracising them and justify it by calling them "weirdos". We need to stop saying villains are "badly written" because they're not written how YOU want them to be written, regardless of whether or not that opinion is valid (which in this case it isn't). We need to stop putting fandoms in some weird competition with each other about how characters are written and spit on people who actually enjoy them, are comforted by them or felt seen by them (gestures at the whole Angel dust situation barely a week ago). And honestly we need to stop giving attention to people like this, who spread a false narrative and kick others down for being fans of a media they don't like or know squat about for whatever reason. Who spread lies about the media or fandom in question in way that's blatantly in bad faith.
