Dusk and Alternate Pairing - Maxima quo Priscus

Aw, I really like Maxima! I think it would take a lot of headcanon on my part to make me feel like he and Dusk got to know each other well enough for me to fully get on board with a ship, but that's definitely not a point against it!

And I do think the elements are there. Maxima doesn't come across as putting the WoL up on a pedestal, one of the biggest things Dusk needs in a serious partner. He also obviously has a strong sense of right and wrong, to the point he defects once he comes to terms with the idea that yes, the Empire is currently The Baddies and reforming it from within is just not going to happen. Dusk admires that for sure!

Like with my Hien answer, though, I feel like the paths they're respectively on are going to diverge too much eventually to keep things working. I'm starting to realize Dusk isn't a big fan of leaving someone behind while he goes off doing his adventuring shit, especially if they're doing something where it would be nice to have a partner close for emotional support while they're working to rebuild their whole goddamn country, especially a country where Dusk feels like he should butt way the hell out of the rebuilding process. I don't know if Dusk himself realizes it.

Which is Your Morality Alignment?

Not at all surprised this is Dusk's result, as he does tend to follow his own idea of what's right over what the local laws say and such. He's aware part of the reason he's able to do that is because it would be extremely difficult to stop him, but ... that just makes him examine what he intends to do more closely and critically, and he'll never be entirely comfortable that he's got that sort of strength, which I think are ultimately good things.

Hien

Hien is a good choice for Dusk, I think. I thought about it myself when I was going through Stormblood the first time! Hien is healthy in his competitive streak (Dusk likes harmless challenges like in the 'let's see who gets the most meat' quest), and just is a pretty good dude overall. He also seems like he sees Dusk as a person instead of The Warrior of Light, Beacon of Hope, and that is super important to Dusk (sorry, Haurchefant, it's why you two never would've worked out long term). And honestly, I think Hien could use someone who sees him as plain ol' Hien.

Ultimately though, I don't think their paths are going in similar enough directions for it to last forever, especially because I don't either man would be willing to ask the other to change their course.

Thank you for the suggestion! I always feel like Hien is underrated as a ship, even as I keep refusing to ship any of MY characters with him. :P
