“Hey, what flavour is your chapstick?” You ask Dazai, who lays his head in your lap. The breeze is passing through the cherry blossom tree above you, and the rustling of the flowers is a welcome distraction from the stress of a day at the agency.

“Why? So you can tell me it's the one you poisoned?”

“No,” You giggle, covering his eyes with your hand and looking up at the flowers. “I just liked the taste when you kissed me.”

Turning your attention back to him, Dazai's cheeks flush pink, which rarely happens, making your chest hurt. He pulls your palm off his face and brings your knuckles to his lips.

"If you did poison it, I think it would be a perfect way to go," Dazai mumbles into your skin. "Your lips on mine and a hundred cherry blossoms raining down on us."

You almost roll your eyes at his cheesy line, but the ache in your sternum grows after you process his words. "I'd prefer you didn't go at all."

Your soft confession makes Dazai's heart skip a beat, and for a moment, he forgets how to breathe. He's speechless for the first time in a while, and he can barely believe you've just expressed such vulnerability. He only wishes he could, too.

Instead of replying, Dazai shakes his head softly, turning his head away to peer at the park before you. His lack of eye contact doesn't irk you; you know he finds it hard to face intimacy, especially when you're not afraid to voice your thoughts.

"You have to stop doing that."

You barely hear him. "Doing what?"

The park falls silent, and it's like the universe is waiting for his answer alongside you.

"Making me feel human," Dazai sits up, his hair falling over his eyes. The silence rings in your ears as you stare at him.

"Osamu, look at me," You reach for his hand that lays limply by his side.

The man, whose personality is sometimes comparable to that of a child, shakes his head and tucks his hands into his coat pockets. The action draws a laugh from you and a smile from him. "Don't wanna."

Your head falls to the side, contemplating him. "Please?"

Dazai rolls his eyes dramatically and turns his head toward you, lips pouting.

You pinch his cheek between your thumb and forefinger, causing his face to warm. "I'm serious, 'Samu. You're so special to me, I really don't know what I'd do without you."

"Pish," Dazai mutters with an upturn of his lips, though you can see unguarded pain and bashfulness in his gaze. Ignoring your previous statement, Dazai lays back down, his head returning to your lap. Closing his eyes, you notice he's still tense.

You push the brown locks off his forehead and lean down to kiss the crease between his eyebrows. With your hand resting on the side of his face, your thumb brushes his cheekbone, admiring the flutter of his eyelashes against his skin.

"I live to make you feel human," You whisper, feeling warm, wet streaks run over the back of your hand.

And then the sounds of the world come rushing back. The cherry blossom tree has stopped swaying, yet the pink petals still delicately fall to meet you on the floor.

i finally caught up on let free the curse of taekwondo and im kinda shocked and speechless at how chillingly mature this show. i don’t quite know how to describe it, its just so… dead and empty, but in an incredibly purposeful way. the mood is so at odds with what it was pre-time skip, where joy and happiness seemed to prevail despite the looming heaviness of the situation. here, the entire feeling is heavy and lifeless, with only the memory of what once was and the lost promise of what could have been left to keep everything from falling into nothingness, which is rather ironic and those are the things dohoe doesn’t want to dwell on, which leads to the question of if not that, what? if he and juyoung can’t build from their old connection, if dohoe wants to start everything anew, how can he do that if even in the present he’s not willing to fully connect?

i just think this show has incredibly fascinating and thoughtful things to say about how trauma works. bc the actual thing is hardly ever talked about, but in every scene you can see its affects seeping out of every character. you feel it hanging dark and looming over everything, the weight of it, and it’s actually so hard to watch bc you know dohoe is not coping. no matter how much he wants to seem like he is, or believe himself he is, no matter how much he wants to believe moving away from his father, and then his father’s death and selling all his things will set him free from the hurt he feels, it won’t happen. that’s the thing with trauma- removing the person that caused it all doesn’t just magically make it go away. time and distance aren’t the simple solutions you want them to be. the feeling, the pain, it lingers and it’s ugly and horrid. and pushing it down and avoiding it can’t make that realisation that it won’t go away go away. you want dohoe to get better and feel better and you know that addressing all the things that have happened to him will help, but when it comes down to it, it feels impossible to ask someone to confront that pain, it feels mean and awful. and so what can juyeong do, when he knows facing these things will help, that they need to talk about it, but when he tries dohoe just pushes him away. if trying to help means he loses dohoe all over again, then what can he do?

and what makes this show even more interesting is that this trauma is shared. yes, dohoe took the brunt of it much more and for much longer, but this isn’t a situation where someone is comforting someone else who has their own trauma they don’t know about, or can’t know about or understand bc they didn’t experience it. not only was juyeong there, but he experienced it too. and i could talk for hours about how interesting it is to see their different responses to that trauma, i just need to talk now about how much heavier all their silences and moments together feel bc you know they went through it together. they experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together and put like that, you’d expect it to be something that brought them together, which it did, in the moment. but now years later it just hangs heavy and unsaid between them, and it makes dohoe treating juyeong like a stranger so weird and hard to watch bc you know they know each other pain and joy so intimately. it makes it both laughable and insufferable to watch juyeong be jealous of hyeonho for knowing dohoe better bc all juyeong can value now is those small trivial details, bc the way he understood dohoe previously is not just lost, but it’s not something dohoe wants to think about. their connection is so rooted and so connected to their trauma that by avoiding it, it makes it impossible for them to connect again and that is just so hard to watch.

and i just need to mention finally the intimate scene in ep 6 bc my god the parallels made me sob. i don’t think ive ever seen a more poignant and affecting depiction of innocence lost than that, bc it works on both a more literal and metaphorical level. literally, we are seeing them be intimate for the first time and all the innocent excitement of that experience and seeing that paralleled to the present where there is none of that excitement bc they have done this before. and it more metaphorically shows even better that they aren’t able to reconnect, aren’t able to start again bc in that moment they can’t recapture that feeling of innocent excitement. it doesn’t feel like the first time over again, which it should if they were truly able to start fresh and connect anew. but they can’t, and instead in the present, you can feel the emptiness of it, only made worse when paralleled against an experience that is so full of emotion. you see them lying side by side afterwards, before facing each other, smiling and shy, and now, distant, not looking at each other, as if they weren’t even next to each other, and as if nothing even happened. you feel every way that moment is lacking, and it’s so stark and awful bc you have just been reminded of what has been lost.

i think this show has just sent me into a spiral of pain, but the worst kind of pain, a numb pain. but you know what hwang daseul, i love it.

Another quick rundown of my thoughts about this episode but I'm late to this because I didn't get to watch the premiere ❤️ Also this one is a little bit short since I have been rendered speechless (Charles style) by the most recent episode

-Seth Raffield deserves a raise for his voice acting like GOD DAMN

-Ace might be dying but at least the Ace fans are getting an animation with him (I can already see the edits....)

-"Now loading the default XF-Ture personality drivers." XF-TURE?????? WHAT DO YOU MEAN "DEFAULT XF-TURE"????

-"To run this killing game until the death of every participant" Interesting how drdt doesn't have the default "The killing game will continue until there are only 2 people left alive". Very, very interesting....

-MANIFESTING THE TERUKO ULTIMATE LUCK RN!!!

-"Charles, stop looking and cover your eyes!" Awwww cute Charwhit moment <3 but this REALLY ISN'T THE TIME

"Why do i suddenly feel scared?", Seungkwan suddenly said

"Ah, i've been scared from the start when waiting for our turn", Jane whined.

"Where are we supposed to go?", Wonwoo ask to the cameraman. The cameraman just point out a direction to go to.

"Can i be in the middle of you guys?", Jane ask, flashing them with her smiling teeth. She was then welcomed by Wonwoo's and Seungkwan's hand.

"Let's go", Seungkwan said

Today's Going Seventeen Concept is ....

Whom to trust and whom not to trust? An overwhelming fear that has left them speechless What lies at the end of this long-lasting grudge? Grudge(舊怨)

Jane felt something's fishy and unordinary since the briefing of this episode. It was such a bizarre time and location to film, midnight and inside a foreign village, which looks like no one live in or actually pass by. They were actually not inform on the actual concept of this episode.

When she first knew that she's going to be in the same team with Wonwoo, it made her more suspicious of this episode. It is widely known by carats that when both of them are paired up together, they are going to do something that related with mystery and dark concepts. For example, EGO, The Tag, and ESCAPE ROOM. At this point, carats know that it's not a coincidence to pair them up during these kinds of contents.

In the "Grudge" episode, it's not just the two of them who's going to do this mission, but they are also accompanied with Seungkwan, making a group of 3.

"We need to find the other members", Wonwoo starting up a conversation.

"The other members? We're in competition with them", Seungkwan add making Jane laugh.

Out of nowhere, Seungkwan start singing to lighten up the mood. Still walking deeper into the village, Jane saw some writings on the wall, making both of the other member look at the same direction and start reading them one by one.

In the clip, it could be seen that Jane doesn't talk as much as the other two, it looks like she's in a silent mode. Rather than talking, she just look at the road by illuminating it with a flashlight, making sure she doesn't fall. It was raining at that time, so, it's a bit slippery.

"Having all of these house along the way makes it a little less-", "No, it's still scary", Seungkwan quickly change his words. This makes Jane smiled.

"Why are you so funny kwan-ie", Jane said. "I'm not trying to be funny", he said while pouting.

"What's that?" Seungkwan ask.

"Huh?"

Both Jane and Wonwoo look up to a nearby lighted spot.

"Oh, it's a light", Seungkwan answered his own question.

"This is scary", Seungkwan added. "I'm scared too", Jane proceed to hold his biceps stronger than before.

At the corner of her eye, she noticed a woman in a shadow.

"I'm sorry, but can you help me?", the woman ask while sobbing. "PLEASE HELP ME!" , she shouted again, still sobbing. She looks very scared and panicky.

The three of them quickly approach her. "What's going on?", saying in unison.

"Do you live here? What, what's going on?", Seungkwan ask nicely to the woman, who looks older than them.

"My husband isn't answering his phone..", she answered. Jane tries to go beside her and comfort the woman.

"Why are you here?", the woman asked to the three of them.

"We're, here to, um..", they can't find the right words to answer her. "We're here to check out an abandoned house", Seungkwan quickly intterupt.

"Were you the ones here earlier?", she continue asking.

"No, no, those were our friends", Jane said.

"When, where is your husband? How can we help you?", Seungkwan further asked.

The woman answered by pointing into a direction. "He went looking. But, nobody is picking up their phone. My husband and the villagers. Nobody. Please help me", she kept on pleading.

"I think, i think, It's because of him..he's back", she quickly added while looking into Jane's eye. Jane looked at Wonwoo with confused look.

"Him? Who are you talking about?", Wonwoo asked.

"Have you seen the news about Ko Sungil? He was released from prison", the woman asked.

Wonwoo answered while maintaining an eye contact with her, "Yes, Ko Sungil.."

"That person.. that man, has always been stranger really. I'm not crazy, i swear, please..", she continued.

"It's okay, we're going to try to help you. Just try to calm yourself first and tell us about that man", Jane told her while soothing the woman.

The woman slowly take a deeper breath to calm herself. Then, she proceed to tell them the story about the man called Ko Sungil.

"Not only did he kill his parents, but he was eating them too. You have to be careful!". Jane was shocked hearing what the women said in between her cries.

"Okay, it's okay. We will try to find your husband, Kim Mansu", Jane lastly said before the three of them resume their journey.

Jane kept grumbling along the way until they see a house with the lights on. "Ah, no. Why. Whhyy. We're not ghost hunters seungkwan-ah. Oh dear Lord. What have i done to accept going with today's content", she cried.

"Should we check the house first?", Wonwoo asked while lighting up the house in front of them with a flashlight. "Is the abandoned house this one?", Seungkwan asked.

Out of nowhere a shout is heard coming from the inside of the house, "SEUNGKWAN-AH"

"Shit, ah-", Jane cursed in a small voice, looking around hoping no one caught her.

They rushed to unlock the house and search for the source of the shout.

"Oh-, mingoo oppa? ah.. uji oppa is here too?", Jane slowly entering the house.

"Are you guys okay? Is this the abandoned house that we were supposed to go to?", Wonwoo asked to both Woozi and Mingyu. Woozi quickly deny it, instead, he ask them if they haven't been there yet.

Jane quickly shakes her head.

"So, we're here because we met this stranger and he said that all of the villagers are strange. And he said 'Come inside my house for now'. That way, we could leave safely", Mingyu explained.

"But, why are you shouting to save you guys?", Seungkwan asked while standing right behind the sofa, Mingyu and Woozi sitting on. Meanwhile, Wonwoo and Jane decide to just sit down on another sofa beside them.

"So we walked inside-", cutting his own sentence to tell Wonwoo, "That way is blocked", and proceed to finish his sentence.

"But then, he took Vernon with him. He said all of the villagers are crazy and strange. He said he'd find a way out for us-"

"And told us to wait here", Woozi quickly added

"He told us to wait here and that person-", Mingyu carry on. But, he was quickly stopped by Woozi saying, "He needed someone to help him so he took Vernon with him".

Hearing that, Jane become suspicious of that stranger.

"According to him, he has an older brother which was released from prison. But, later, we found out, that the culprit can't be his older brother because we looked around the house and there's no older brother in any of the photos. We roamed around the house when he left to clear a path so we could all go home", Woozi explained.

Jane looked stunned hearing the story. "I'm getting goosebumps for real...poor Vernon", she said

"it's either him or he's lying about something right now.."

Wonwoo add another information, "We met someone on our way up here". "The one searching for her husband?", Seungkwan said. Wonwoo quickly nod.

"She said that her husband came up here to find the people visiting the abandoned house but he disappeared. And then, she also tell us that there's a murderer called Ko Sungil coming back here", Wonwoo continued.

"Ko sungil? that's his older brother name..", Mingyu said.

"What?!", Jane standing up from the Sofa.

"Why are you sop calm right now? Doesn't that mean Vernon is missing? ", Seungkwan asked.

"Vernon.. well.. he went with him to help. But, we don't know what's the truth and what's a lie", Woozi said.

"It could really be that the villagers are the bad people or he could be the bad person",

"Yes, but either way, this is a really strange place to be"

While, Woozi and Mingyu start displaying all of the informations from the diaries and newspapers that they found, Seungkwan and Wonwoo decide to start looking around the place.

During discussion, Jane was quiet. She tries to match all the information like a puzzle.

"Ah! Isn't it obvious? The man that take Vernon away IS Ko Sungil.. he's tricking us. It's not possible that the villagers are the one who we should stay away from. I saw the woman earlier, she was distraught and she kept giving us the opposite things that the man said. I just feel that it's him. He's the one we should stay away from because why else he would be lying about him having a brother, right?"

"Woah. Wait. Woah", their reaction starts to bubbled up.

"You know what.. we should really go... NOW", Jane insisted.

One by one, they start going out of the house and starts heading the lower part of the village, where Vernon left with that man. Woozi leading the way, followed by Seungkwan, then Mingyu, and lastly, Jane and Wonwoo at the back. Jane hold his hand very tight, she was scared as hell.

"I can't see anything without a flashlight", Mingyu said.

"Woozi-ah, want me to give you my flashlight? if you're leading the way", Wonwoo offered.

They kept walking and walking, till they met a car with the headlights on.

"That's.. what that's", Jane said while pointing out at a direction where a man is walking toward them while dragging an axe.

They were startled by the man's sudden shout. Seeing the man starts running towards them, they run as fast as they can. All five of them kept running to the other side to avoid the man, the one they thought was a 'helpful man', Ko Sungil.

I came into this show almost fully blind: the only thing I knew was that there is a grandma who wants to give a sexual favor. And boy am I glad I had that heads up because seeing that line be delivered on screen did NOT make me happy. Gross

The way they did turbo granny's pupils was a great touch

The transitions between Momo and the mirror are beautifully slick and the moment the windows start shutting off like floodlights was fantastically executed. Then they ripped her shirt and I wanted to kill the author. Typical

... you know i really came into this show blind when my bafflement at what the Serpoians were gonna do to Momo left me speechless. I was planning to watch this show with another person but this scene has ensured that that is NEVER going to happen

Strangely, I think she loses her sparkle when she has long hair. I love how distinctive her character design is and that's lost when she's being all glowy and powerful

EP 1 .

CW// Yelling, idk it’s angst what do you want, aftermath of Simon dying and leaving you with a kid.

You pour two parts pasta, one part cheese, lined to the backing on the box. Shifting his little feet to lay along the leg wide holes cut through his high chair. “Luke give it a minute, honey.” He’s a thoughtless toddler, without a response. Bits of cereal to fling around on sticky floors, honeyed watermelon and carrot paste. He had been restless since 7 months. Peopled have stopped Inviting you to things, piled next to your water bill and oily napkin bunch. The large of you knew he didn’t deserve the butt end of it. Your nature is casted into stone. From loved, thought of and care for to distant and diseased. Hugged from time to time, yet no one’s trying to lay with crazy.

His father was a dead beat, not his fault. Not yours. His, the fathers, Simons, his fault. It was hardly and appropriate breakfast, now matted to the front of his cotton shark print top.

He’s zipped into the back car seat. You hope to see the day he’s attached to the booster, then left without one. Sad to see it from the front cushions, driving, give or take a new decade.

His school isn’t far it’s the drive that’s hard. One hand to his aid one to the front. Remembering which way to turn, if he was still breathing, did you buckle the left strap? How fast are you going?

The plastic of his fist sized shoes squeak under his foot. Slides past the front gate, squishy playground and over to where you could not see. You’re off today unfortunately. Meant to report to base and check up with whoever from 141 was left with the shortest stick. It was patronizing, the jut of the gas pedal and the stop for ID. You were no child meant for coddling, you just so happen to have a child, one of Simon’s.

”Doing any better?” The walk here made you sick, the air had a smell of dust and rubbing alcohol. Price’s hat made you sick, the pins on his desk slipped down your throat and jabbed you stomach. “How’s Luke?”

“Fine,”

“You should let me n’ Gaz take him out, yeah?”

“Oh then what after that Price?” “Listen,”

“Take my son out for a drink? Show him a few tricks in your big ass truck? Price? I want you to show my child how to load a gun, captain. You know what why don’t you just carry him off to the front lines while you’re at it?” He just sort of stands there, takes in a breath like he’s going to speak and readjusts.

“It’s my day off you know I don’t have to be here,”

“Yes you do,”

“On whose orders?” “Mine,”

“Right, Right the same ones that got Simon killed, it’s all clicking sorry,”

There’s a sort of prickle to those words, it tickles his face and makes wrinkles. “You knew damn well what you were gettin into,”

“Oh my god, how many times are you going to send for me just for us to have this same argument? I hate it, I hate it here. Theres that same goddamn picture that’s been up since our first date. And the fucking Gym still has the same equipment. How many times am I going to look at that stupid ass wall of yours and remember the time Simon put a hole in it? Like I can’t, I look at my sons skin and I worry just how long it takes till all of our grief leaves scars on it.”

Price finally lets go of that breath. “Look, the boys are worried,”

You were too, shifting to anchor yourself. No part of this was supposed to leave you gasping at night. To have your son set In a deep driven drudge of speechless resentment. To have him shielded yet still affected. Up asking why he couldn’t show off his dads sporting gear like Hunter could. Luke has no father, he never did. And that wasn’t your fault or his.

“I have to pick my son up,”

Full Moon episode - takes and feelings

Hello everyone.

Last post I announced that I will be making a post about Helluva Boss' new episode 'Full Moon' where I'll state my own feelings, takes and probably add some of my own theories as to what comes next afterwards. And of course that I will be spoiling the WHOLE thing. So for those who haven't seen an episode, please go watch it before reading this whole text.

First things first, HOLY SHIT! WASN'T THAT THE BIGGEST TRIP OF EVERYTHING I HAVE SEEN AND FELT IN JUST ONE ENTIRE EPISODE?! I mean, it wasn't extremely bad as I had thought it would be, but it still left me speechless and shocked throughout some of the scenes which I'll get to later. And the ending, oh boy I can't wait to get to that.

I haven't honestly expected for Stolitz duet to come so soon in the first few minutes. I mean I was already aware of it, but still. It was great though, and kind of funny, especially Blitz's lines and the transition where they kind of censor (but also not) the...intimacy that they usually do once a month. Not to mention how both of them are kind of nervous during the duet. Dammit, they're nervous wrecks made for each other XD.

Then we have the unexpected guests of the party. Agents D.H.O.R.K.S. and CHERUBS. I have not expected them to appear this early in the show. I mean, I have heard a theory on Twitter that the CHERUBS would appear, managing to steal the grimoire and such. I honestly thought they would show up in 'Mastermind', which makes me wonder...whats going to happen there now that those characters have already appeared? Would they appear again? Next time, actually managing to open a big enough portal to Hell, creating further conflicts in the future?

CHERUBS were interesting to me. The way they redeem mortals at the beginning, spread 'goodness' but also pickpocketing them unnoticed. And the way they differentiate, especially Keenie and Cletus, who had definitely gone south when they had gotten banished from Heaven, while Collin possibly remained the same, still hanging onto his morals, questioning his peers' actions. Based on the interrogation scene, I believe that he'll be the only one to return to Heaven, while the others will likely die or serve their punishment in Hell.

I jumped when Cletus mentioned they were the 'Exorcists' sent from above, because it made me think of the Exterminators from Hazbin Hotel, since both of these shows are from the same Universe. He probably meant something else, but I digress.

And then there are the agents D.H.O.R.K.S. I knew these guys would show up later on, especially since the ending of 'Truth Seekers'. They managed to catch the main cast on video, which would explain why they got such a massive upgrade with their weaponry. The Pope army, the portal to Hell and robotic suits which if you look closely, look close similar to IMP gang, along with Loona furry costume XD. I bet Agent 1 is a furry...

Before I close a part of this ep's main villains, I just wanna point out how innocent CHERUBS are when they spend their time following Blitz in the Lust ring. They think Blitz is buying some kind of weapons to kill mortals on Earth, when in actuality he was just buying some sex stuff for tonight XD. And when they assume Ozzie's is the armoury for demons to go to. Well I mean it could be, but for something else...

It's worth mentioning the rest of the IMP gang. It's good to hear Loona's VA again, I kind of missed it. Along with M&M whom we haven't seen for two episodes.

It was also surprising, but in my take out of nowhere, for them to have a 'deus ex machina' moment with Cherubs in order to protect Blitz. I'm probably looking at this wrongly, since they live in Hell (the place you as a mortal DO NOT want to visit) and safety to them is number 1 priority, especially when Blitz had grimoire with him at that moment. The destroyed buildings and street in Lust might come to awareness to the higher ups, but probably not as much as the ones in 'Mastermind' as I theorised before.

Before I get into big meat of the plater, I cannot forgot to mention the cashiers. Like, WHAT are they supposed to be??? Are they hellborn hybrids, the Goetia, Sinners or something else? Either way, they look cool.

Also Fizz. Not much about him, I like his new outfit and how he helps Blitz with the stuff. Now, I BET that he uses that giant vibrator with Ozzie. Boys like it rough sometimes, don't they?

Finally, the moment we'll all been waiting for. The night of the full moon.

I knew that their last transaction would end painfully. And yet, it was by far the hardest to watch. Blitz's yell was marvellously done and it truly beat to the core. And so did Stolas' last line.

'You folks think you can do this EVERY time that you can just play with our feelings because we're smaller and not as important!!'

'Blitz, I think so highly of you, I didn't realise you think so low of me.'

Words cannot express how I felt when I heard those lines. It's easy to say that I was shocked, mind blown, sad, but honestly it would feel cheap as a result.

I mean...

It's obvious FROM A FAR that the only thing standing in the way between them is lack of communication and misunderstandings. There is NO ONE who can convince me that these two FUCK EACH OTHER for the sake of PLEASURE AND GOD FORSAKEN TRANSACTION.

They LOVE EACH OTHER!

But Blitz is too scared to get hurt again, it ACTUALLY happened to him and Stolas now believes that Blitz doesn't LOVE him, let alone never cared for his feelings!

I may be exaggerating, however this is how I see it now.

Based on the scenes from trailer, I believe Blitz and Stolas would begin their relationship on bad terms after FM, then Stolas would stand up for Blitz in 'Apology Tour' where seems Verosica is hosting 'Blitz Sucks' concert and Blitz, covered in stained fabric all heartbroken, looks up at Stolas and realises his true feelings for him.

That's just a theory, we'll see what an 'Apology Tour' has for us this June.

Ooof, I wrote so much here. Might be my longest post I have ever written. I probably went into whole summary of the ep I didn't focus enough on takes, critical thinking etc. I nearly have none, because I enjoyed FM at most, so I have no prejudice whatsoever. I'm also tired of writing as you can see.

So in conclusion, 'Full Moon' was worth the wait. The outcome might have been predictable, but it still hurt. It did surprise us with few things, and for now, we can only contemplate as to what's to come next for Helluva Boss story.

Kill Me Love Me episodes 12 and 13. The way they ended episode 13 was devastating *sobs*

The Xiyan prince is about to leave and he can bring the beauties with the burnt mark home, but of course the crown prince has other ideas. Meanwhile, Jinghe and Mei Lin fall out when she discovers just how ruthless he can be to achieve his plans.

(Uhm ya, you don't know half of it, lady)

The royal hunt is on and the Crown Prince is up to no good. Well, so is Jinghe as he's intent on capturing Li Qi, a man who is connecting to the tragedy at Qingyuan 10 years ago. But his plan involves jumping off cliffs...

-- Here's what I can say, it is funny how quickly the story improved once the Xiyan prince left and we don't have to endure 2ML shenanigans (for too long anyway) 😆

His little arc in ep 12 is pretty interesting tho. Try not to spoil yourself before watching it.

Ps Which one of you were hella mad at him? hands up!

Anyway, I was super concerned about the drama, as I said, esp with episodes 7-9, that the show had jumped sharked. My primary concern was tha they were going to shortcut their emotional and relationship growth by making them be cute with each other from the get go.

But something turned at ep 10, and I can say at eps 12 and 13 that the tension, darkness and Murong Jinghe we knew in eps 1-3 is baaaack. Even Mei Lin seems better defined and her character writing is more solid.

Our couple is back to threatening each other and dang it Liu Xueyi somehow makes threats sound like seduction.

But what really shocked me, was the last 10 min of ep 13. Such a short scene, but a massively important one as Mei Lin finally realised the depth of suffering Jinghe had gone through.

It was a scene I never ever thought I will see in a cdrama, a kind of humiliation that is so awful in its rawness it will make you turn away in shock.

I am so used to Cdrama heroes being portrayed as perfect, always with beautiful skin, always suave and sure of himself.

But here, Jinghe is at his lowest in front of possibly the worst person: someone he has growing feelings for.

I am not going to spoil you about what happened, because this is a scene that needed to be seen to feel the impact.

Personally, I am actually agog that the producers a actually went there! But I really, really liked that they did. That's brave writing.

Liu Xueyi and Wu Jinyan acted the heck out of that scene. That quiet, respectful way she treated him. She didn't say a word and went to gather wood.

His devastated look as he was forced to LOOK AT THAT LOG as Mei Lin drags him away... the whole scene left me speechless really.

Perfectly acted, all of it. And both actors hardly said a word to each other during this time. I can see that LXY WJY are not the type of actors who want to pose and look pretty for the camera all the time, that's for sure.

Honestly, I am glad Liu Xueyi was given this moment because he really showed what he was capable of here.

And ya know, I am not the type to cry when watching any drama. Heck didn't even cry watching the Titanic, but I almost did with this one, because this is a humiliation none of us want to ever endure.

Anyway, they have An Important Conversation after the whole thing which will define their relationship now. If they ever do have lovey dovey moments in future ep, it will feel more organic than forced.

You stated all my thoughts about White. Up until this point he has no stakes in this story. They better do something with his character quick because there are only three eps left and I could not care less about whether he lives or dies right now. I even want Fluke’s selfish crazy ass to survive more than White at this point.

they just aren't giving us anything about white. as far as we know, he's just boyfriend. he has no ties with non and has done nothing to harm him or the investigation. he just doesn't have many ties to the main story with non. let's be honest. it makes him a little boring and bland. i kinda care about him cause he seems nice. he's innocent. there's nothing wrong with his place in the story and i feel like he does have his seat at the table even if he's not involved with non. he plays detective with phee and tan and he does his best with trying to contact the outside world. we see how fluke is going crazy through how he interacts with white. we get to see tee fleshed out a little through white.

i just don't think it would be satisfying to leave him as final girl. i mean, it's just too cookie cutter to leave the "innocent" one alive. this doesn't really seem like a story that's so rigid in its sense of morality. a lot of the characters we see are very much not black and white. you have phee who cares very much for non, but sleeps with jin and, at least the way i see it, kind of likes him too. he's on his mission to seek the truth about non or kinda get revenge but he gets distracted and veers off course. we have tee who is a major bully and does fucked up things to non which could have landed him in jail and did land him into deep shit with his uncle, but he also ultimately asked for mercy for non and tee is dealing with a lot of shit at home. i mean, he has the health of his dad on his shoulders (if i remember correctly) and his uncle was stepping on his neck threatening him with money or the lack of it. i am a tee hater but when i really think of his situation, i can't help but feel bad for the guy and everything that he's going through. and i love phee, but man was it fucked up to sleep with jin without knowing the full story.

with all of these complex and interesting characters to really dig into and analyze, white just seems bland in comparison and i feel like that's probably the point of his character. i mean, maybe i just haven't caught onto any foreshadowing, but white isn't going to turn out to be some great mastermind or part of the conspiracy with phee and tan in the end. that would feel like such shitty writing. i think this is more or less confirmed by white getting the hallucination of boils on his skin. he's not in on the plan and he didn't use this to throw off suspicion like tan did.

i think he works best as a tragic death. he would work best as collateral in the end. he has done all that he can and that is still not enough sometimes. you can do all the right things but circumstances get you sometimes. that's just what life is.

white is not final girl material. this story ultimately isn't about him, and i think that's what seals his fate. no part of seeing him coming out of the woods bloody and crying would be satisfying as an ending and would honestly create the most basic ass theme. it would make me actually angry if the "innocent" one got out alive. in a show that works so hard at being morally complex, that is such a slap in the face as an ending. it sends the most basic theme of "if you do bad things, bad things happen to you, and if you do good things, good things happen to you." the story would say nothing interesting. it is such a tired theme that doesn't take into acount the cemplexities and nuances of life.

i believe dff will do better than that. i think it will give us a story that leaves all of us speechless and satisfied. white being the final girl will not give us that.
