Harry smiled at you as he watched you primp yourself up on the train. Purely afraid of being rushed out into the festival once you arrived. You hated being rushed.

He admired you, watching as your eyes light up and your smile grew wider as you and chip discussed the anticipation you both had for the following days. On the train was you, Harry, Chip and Freezy. Many others were going. The remainder of the sidemen, Callux, Talia, Freya and Willne. To name a few. Your friend group were extremely lucky with their opportunities but they found it was always for work that they were meeting up. Yes, this weekend many people were bringing along their vlogging cameras but they weren’t there because they had to be everyone wanted to be there.

“I’m looking forward to a couple of pints,” Harry added to the conversation. Chip laughed, “Aren’t we all my friend.” As he held up his water bottle waiting for Harry to return the toast.

The four of us arrived at our hotel, eager to get out and explore the festival grounds. You loved hotels, something Harry knew. You were too busy looking for the reception to notice Harry had changed which hand was lugging his suitcase as he intertwined your fingers with the other. You finally broke out of your trance. “Hi Harry.” You smiled and he sheepishly smiled back.

Once you all arrived in your room, messages from the groupchat came flooding through. Everybody begging the four of you to hurry. “Tell Simon we’ll be there in a minute,” you groaned, unable to find your shoes. “I just need to find these shoes.” You rummaged through your suitcase that might have been a little too full. “These ones?” Harry queried holding up your shoes as you pulled them from his hands. “Yes! Oh my god.” Harry smiled as you kissed him on the cheek, scurrying to put your shoes on.

You and Harry made it to the lobby just after Chip and Freezy. A group, probably to others distaste, were gathered in the middle. All riddled with a buzz of excitement. It radiated as you smiled as soon as you seen the herd of them. “Y/n!” You heard one of them shout, only if you knew which one. Harry’s name was called soon after as he came into their view. “So good to see you.” Callux said as he embraced you. “Great to see you too.” You smiled at him before being welcomed by another’s embrace and then it carried on. Eventually, everyone arrived on the field for the festival. The good thing was, music was playing from every end on every stage. Everybody ran for a drink. “Would you like a beer?” Harry asked, pointing to the bar some were already off too. “Please, if you don’t mind.”

“Of course.” He replied, giving your forehead a kiss before moving on.

As the sun went down, the atmosphere grew and drunk levels were significantly increased. You and Harry were dancing with one another, his hand sometimes resting on your waist but other than that it was reckless dancing. Unfortunately, as you danced your night away you knocked over a man’s beer behind you. “Oh my god! I’m so sorry—Let me, let me buy you another.” You scrambled as you picked up his cup, looking at him with apologetic eyes. “What the fuck! What the fuck!” He yelled, Harry turned around. “Hey mate, back off!” He shouted, the guy just laughing in his face. His girlfriend rapidly apologised logging her boyfriend through the crowd. “I’m so sorry. He’s so drunk. Sorry.”

Harry wrapped his arm around your shoulder as they walked away into the crowd. “Hey. You okay?” He yelled over the bustle of the crowd. “I’m fine, Harry. It’s just people when they’re drunk.” You said, it didn’t bother you but something about his anger felt so genuine even through the slurred speech and drunken eyes. Suddenly the crowd raved as the main artist came on stage. Harry nudged your arm with excitement. “For this first song, grab your significant other or maybe someone you care about.” Harry had never leaned into you faster his arms grasping your waist as he turned to face you. The song flowed as did your bodies. “I love you.” Harry spoke as he pulled you closer. “I love you more.” He pulled you in for a kiss and the night never felt younger.

There were perks to having a full time job. Financial stability, career development, a valid reason to say no to going on your mate’s podcasts. However, there were also disadvantages - one being having to sit in an office all day while said mates drink their way through London.

Y/N had been working with a corporate insurance company for a few years now, having moved to London for a secondment that developed into a full time role. She had been introduced to the wider UK YouTuber group through George, who was a prospective client when The Useless Hotline began to take on employees. They had clicked instantly, and she had found herself spending most of her free time with Clarkey and Becky. While the two friends brought a sense of adventure and excitement to her life, Y/N was a breath of fresh air - a reminder that there’s more to life than an upload schedule.

“Y/N!” Arthur Hill had spotted her as soon as she walked through the door, pulling her into a tight embrace. “I’m so happy you’re here, Will thought you may’ve been working late”.

“I was planning on it, but I heard Will was shouting. I had to see it for myself.” She grinned as Arthur laughed, directing her to the table occupied by the group.

Y/N was met with a loud cheer, each of her friends taking turns to greet her.

“I was starting to think you’d never return from war,” Becky wrapped her arms around her friend. “I’ve been waiting for you to help me drink these fellas under the table.”

The two girls shared a giggle before being enveloped in a hug by their tall, brunette male counterpart.

“This is my second favourite kind of threesome” George sighed.

“I’m assuming the first involves Chris and Hill.” Y/N laughed lightheartedly.

“You know me so well.” George had grinned in response.

Y/N could feel a pair of eyes on her, cheeks heating up as she looked up to see Will making strides across the pub, glass of red in hand.

“We better let mummy go now Becky, can’t have daddy getting jealous.” George smirked at Y/N, both himself and Becky stifling a laugh as Y/N jabbed him in the side.

Her two friends disappeared behind her as Will approached, knowing looks on their faces.

“Hi gorgeous,” Will wrapped his free arm around her, placing a kiss on her cheek. “I know we typically do pints but they finally restocked your favourite red.”

Y/N resisted the urge to coo at the grown man in front of her.

“Come tell me about your day.” He grabbed her hand, leading her through the crowd of friends.

Y/N had spent plenty of time with the extended group - even once had a bit of a secret summer romance with Lux.

They were sat in the car in his driveway when he had ended things.

“I think Will knows we’re seeing each other, Y/N. I can’t bear to see that look on his face anymore.”

“What look?” she had asked.

“The you’re-my-mate-and-dating-the-woman-I-like look.” Cal had sighed, the frustration spreading over his face.

“I don’t care what anyone thinks, Cal. Pretty sure he’s dating people too.”

“If you really didn’t care, our friends would know we’re dating,” he said, head resting against the window. “I would love for this to work out, but I just don’t see it happening.”

Cal had conceded, no longer wanting to fight for her attention. There was just something about Will.

Unlike George and Becky, it had taken some time for his friendship with Y/N to blossom. It had taken many Thursday trivia nights at their local, but they eventually became inseparable. The two had slowly pulled away from big nights out, preferring to spend their Saturday evenings watching films and playing board games. Having escaped a hangover, they would often stretch their hangouts into Sunday morning for a quiet coffee run and visit to the local market. But lately, tension had begun to build - and it seemed like everyone had noticed. Except for Y/N.

Though she would never really admit it, Y/N had felt the shift in their dynamic. She was hyper aware of the way Will kept his hand on her back as they walked through the crowded markets. She would try desperately to suppress the dull ache in her chest when he would suggest heading home after a film night. It’s too late to drive home, Will. She’d be scarily still when he’d sleepily throw his arm across her torso, terrified to wake him as he lie next to her. Okay Y/N, I’ll stay.

Will had noticed the tension. He was just waiting around for Y/N to catch up. She was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. She stopped women on the street to compliment a smile, a hairdo, or the coat they were wearing. On the occasions she hung out with his production team, she had made a point to take an interest in their life outside of work. She would text Mikey various tiktoks, look through Ieuan’s film and help him choose the right stills. She was the missing piece of the puzzle… yet had no clue.

Y/N slid into the booth next to Will, the other half occupied by Chip and Sabina.

“I’ve been hanging out for a wine night,” Sabina reached across the table, gently squeezing her friend’s hand. “We’ve got so much shit to talk. I’ve been keeping notes for you.”

“Sab, give me a time and I’m there!” Y/N had opened her calendar, rattling off free days to the brunette across the table. Before long, the couple were off to the bar, leaving Y/N and Will sitting by themselves.

They settled into routine. She shared her day - her boss had copied her in on a million different emails, she spent the whole day in meetings and plastering on a smile - while Will listened attentively. That sounds shite. You should eat, you’ll feel better.

“I think my social battery is starting to go.” The thought of staying out late made her grimace.

“Let’s go home. Get a shitty takeaway and watch an even shittier film.” Will was stood, extending his hand for her to grab. They walk through the pub, embracing their friends goodbye and promising a late night over the weekend.

“She’s just tired, mate. Thought it’s time to head home.” Will stood talking to George, sympathetic smile spread across his features.

“And she needs you to tuck her in? Good friend you are, Lenney.” George smirked, watching a red flush make its way up to Will’s ears.

15 minutes later, they were stood outside her apartment fumbling with the keys.

She had entrusted Will to organise dinner, throwing herself onto the couch with no plans to leave it anytime soon. Will sat on her right, allowing her to rest her head against his shoulder.

“You know Y/N, this is my favourite part of these group events.” He looked down at her, tucking a stray stand of hair behind her ear.

She met his gaze. “I love catching up with everyone, but I feel like I wait around the whole day to come home to you.”

“You make it sound romantic.” She laughed, but with no real humour behind it. Just trying to cut the growing tension in the room.

“It could be. If you want that.” Will’s eyes searched her face for any sort of requited feeling.

She swallowed hard, adjusting her position on the couch to face him.

Her phone fell into Will’s lap as she gently brushed her hand over the top of his. “I do. Want that, I mean.”

Will moved to intertwine their hands, a loud chime coming from Y/N’s phone. He looked down, seeing a familiar name adorn the screen.

Cal: Can we talk? I miss you.

The lodge you were all staying in had fallen into a heavy silence, the kind that only comes in the dead of night. Everyone else had retreated to their rooms, now wrapped in sleep. The only sounds left were the wind whistling through the cracks in the walls and the soft, steady crackle of the fire burning the hearth.

You sat curled up on the couch in front of it, the warm orange glow flickering over your face. The faint scratch of a page turning was the only other sound in the room. You sipped at the tea cradled in your hands, letting the warmth seep into your fingers.

It was at least 3 a.m., but you were wide awake.

You never could sleep properly whenever you were away from home. Something about unfamiliar walls and beds always left you restless, and this had become your ritual - sitting alone in the quiet while the others caught up on well-earned rest.

The sudden creak of the stairs broke the stillness, pulling you from your calm. Your head snapped up. Will.

He emerged from the shadows, hair a little messy, eyes half-lidded, and voice still gravelly with sleep. “Why’re you awake?” he asked, and the simple sound of his voice sent a jolt through your chest.

You chewed at the inside of your cheek as he stepped around the sofa to face you. “Couldn’t sleep,” you admitted softly.

He tilted his head, his tousled hair flopping with the motion, and gestured for you to scoot over. “Why not?”

“I don’t know.” You shrugged, shifting to the side as he sat down and pulled part of your blanket over his legs. “I can never sleep when I’m not at home.”

Will leaned back, arms folding behind his head. The movement tugged his t-shirt up slightly, exposing the faint line of muscle at his waist. You noticed it before you could stop yourself, your eyes snapping quickly back to the book and mug in your lap, cheeks growing warm.

“Why are you down here?” you asked, tracing your finger idly around the rim of your mug to distract yourself.

“Just came to check on ya.”

Your head lifted at that, brows furrowing slightly.

“You think I haven’t noticed you’re always the last one to sleep and the first one up?”

You gave a quiet laugh, “Didn’t think you noticed anything about me, to be honest. Thought you could barely tolerate me.”

Will looked over at you, his expression unreadable in the low firelight. “I notice more than you think, love.”

The nickname made your breath catch. You were suddenly thankful for the shadows of the room, because your face was definitely giving you away.

“Oh.”

He hummed and shifted lower on the couch, slouching until he looked completely at home there. “Is there anything that helps you sleep?”

You shrugged again. “I’ve tried everything except medication.”

Will nodded slowly, then - without warning - reached for the book and mug in your lap, setting them on the coffee table, ignoring your quiet protest.

“C’mere.”

Your brows drew together in confusion, but before you could say anything, he rolled his eyes and gently pulled you into his side, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.

“I don’t-”

“Be quiet, will ya.”

You gave in with a sigh, letting your head fall against his chest. The rhythm of his breathing, steady and even, filled the silence. You could hear his heartbeat, feel the warmth of him beside you. His thumb traced gentle, almost unnoticeable shapes along your arm, his touch featherlight and soothing.

Your eyes fluttered shut before you could stop them.

“You can go to sleep,” he murmured, his voice a low rumble against your ear. His chin rested softly atop your head. “I’ve got you.”

And for some reason, you believed him.

You didn’t mean to fall asleep, not really. You were only going to rest your eyes for a second - just let your muscles relax into the warmth of the fire, into the way Will’s arm held you like he’d done it before, like it was second nature.

It was easy to let go.

The feeling of his hand tracing slow shapes into your arm, the rise and fall of his chest beneath your cheek, the low, steady sound of his breathing - it pulled you in like a lullaby.

You didn’t know how long you'd been asleep when your eyes cracked open again. The fire had burned lower now, glowing with just enough light to paint everything in gold and shadow. Will was still there, still holding you, his body slack with sleep. His head had tilted slightly to the side, lips parted, a strand of hair falling over his forehead.

Your breath caught in your throat again - not from surprise, but from something else. Something heavier. Softer.

He looked younger like this. Calmer. Like the weight he usually carried had slipped off his shoulders just long enough to let him rest.

Your gaze dropped to where your hand had ended up - resting gently on his chest, right over his heart. You should’ve moved it, should’ve pulled away, but you didn’t. Something about this moment felt… fragile. Like any movement would shatter it.

Will stirred then, shifting slightly. His arm instinctively pulled you closer, like his body registered your presence before his mind caught up.

“You still awake?” he murmured, voice raspy with sleep, barely above a whisper.

You nodded against him. “Yeah. Barely.”

He didn’t say anything for a moment. Just breathed. You wondered if he could feel your heart racing, wondered if his was doing the same.

“I used to hate nights like this,” he said eventually. “Could never sleep either. Too quiet. Too much to think about.”

You stayed still, listening.

“But this…” he paused, his thumb brushing up and down your arm, slower now, more deliberate. “This is nice.”

A small smile tugged at your lips. “You mean being stuck on a lumpy couch with someone stealing your blanket?”

He chuckled under his breath. “Exactly that, yeah.”

There was a comfortable pause after that. No pressure to speak. No need to explain. Just the soft creak of the old lodge settling around you, the fading fire, the quiet rhythm of breathing in sync.

“I meant it earlier,” Will said suddenly, more awake now. “I notice things. I notice you.”

You tilted your head to look up at him. His eyes were open now, locked on yours. There was something steady in them - no teasing, no sarcasm. Just truth.

Your throat felt tight. “Then why do act like I don’t exist – and when you do it’s like I’m the worst person to ever step foot on earth. Why didn’t you just say something?”

He gave you a look - gentle, a little unsure. “Would you have believed me?”

You didn’t answer. Because maybe you wouldn’t have. Not when you were so caught up in overthinking every glance, every word, every moment where it felt like something was there.

You couldn’t find the words to reply to him, moving your eyes from his and down to the hand that was splayed over his chest rising with the rhythm of his breath. Every inch of you wanted to pull away from the contact but you couldn’t.

Will’s fingers found yours, curling around them without thinking. “You don’t have to say anything,”

You nodded slowly, your fingers tightening slightly in his. “Okay.”

You wanted to say so much more - but for now, the quiet between you felt enough.

No bickering, no challenges, just silence.

Eventually, your head dropped back onto his chest, your eyelids heavier than before. Will’s arm stayed wrapped around you, holding you close like a secret.

Neither of you said another word.

And for the first time in a long time, you felt like you might actually sleep.

“Will you twats be quiet?”

Will’s groggy, annoyed voice cut through the haze of sleep, echoing through your ears and pulling you back into consciousness. His voice, though irritated, still carried that familiar warmth beneath it - like it took effort to sound properly annoyed.

You stilled.

There was a hand resting on your hip. A thumb tracing absent-minded shapes into the fabric of your shirt. Small, lazy movements that sent a quiet warmth up your spine.

You let out a slow, silent yawn, stretching your legs slightly, trying not to move too much -but it was too late.

Will cursed under his breath, just softly enough for only you to hear, and you opened your eyes to find his already on you. His gaze was soft, half-lidded with sleep but undeniably tender.

The fire from last night had gone out, leaving the room lit by pale morning light that spilled through the wide lodge windows. In it, Will looked unfairly good – his face lit in a way that made him seem otherwordly

“Sorry,” you whispered, your voice still hoarse from sleep.

You shifted back quickly, putting a little more distance between the two of you than either of you really wanted. In your rush, you didn’t notice the way his expression faltered, the flicker of disappointment that passed over his features.

The shift in warmth - the sudden absence of contact - left something hollow behind.

But then you felt it: eyes. The kind of sensation that meant you were being watched.

You turned your head toward the kitchen, where a group of your friends stood, frozen mid-movement. Toast halfway to mouths, coffee cups paused, eyes wide.

George and Bach looked mildly amused. Chris and Television had a knowing smirk. And Chip looked like he had far too many questions he was dying to ask. While the girls looked as though they were gonna burst with a plethora of emotions.

Your stomach dropped.

The colour drained from your face as heat flooded your cheeks. Whatever soft, delicate bubble you and Will had existed in overnight had burst the second the rest of the world woke up.

Without saying another word, you pushed yourself up from the sofa, quickly bolting for the stairs, the sound of your heartbeat roaring in your ears.

Behind you, Will sat up slowly, dragging a hand through his messy hair, lips parting like he wanted to call after you - but he didn’t.

Instead, he just watched you disappear up the stairs, still clinging to the spot you'd left behind.

You shut your bedroom door with a quiet click, leaning your back against it for a second as you pressed your palms into your face. Your cheeks were still warm, heart racing from the way everyone had seen. From the way Will had looked at you like he wasn’t even trying to hide it.

You weren’t sure what rattled you more - the intimacy of waking up like that, or the fact that it had felt so normal.

The moment was clinging to your skin like static.

You let out a slow breath and turned toward your bag to start getting ready when you heard the creak of the floorboards outside the door.

A knock came - soft but intentional. Followed by the familiar sound of Liv’s voice.

“Open up. We saw, don’t bother pretending.”

You groaned quietly, but there was no real fight behind it. You cracked the door and saw the three of them standing there: Liv, arms crossed with a knowing glint in her eye; Sabina, barely holding in a grin; and Flo, clutching her mug of tea like she’d just come from witnessing a soap drama and needed the tea to cope.

You sighed and stepped aside, letting them in without a word.

They all flooded in with quiet laughter and whispered gasps like they were sneaking into forbidden territory. Flo dropped onto the edge of the bed, Sabina leaned against the desk, and Liv closed the door behind her with a smug little click.

“You slept on the sofa with Will?” Liv started, her voice hushed but clearly filled with barely-contained excitement.

Sabina tilted her head, eyes sparkling. “And not just slept - slept slept. Like spooning? We all saw the hand placement.”

“Guys,” you muttered, covering your face again with a groan, “please, I’m already dying of secondhand embarrassment.”

“Secondhand?” Flo asked, raising a brow. “Babes, you were the source.”

You flopped onto the bed beside her, dragging a pillow over your face as they all laughed softly around you.

Liv nudged the pillow. “Okay, but seriously… are you going to pretend there’s nothing there?”

You peeked out, your voice quiet. “It wasn’t planned.”

Flo nodded gently. “Didn’t look like it. Looked… natural.”

That word made your stomach flutter. Natural. That’s exactly what it felt like.

You sat up slowly, fingers knotting together in your lap. “I didn’t even realise I’d fallen asleep. One minute he was telling me I could, and the next…” You trailed off, unsure how to even explain the way it felt. The way Will had held you. The way he hadn’t hesitated. Like you belonged there.

Sabina gave you a soft smile, her voice gentler now. “And when you woke up?”

Your throat tightened. “He was already looking at me.”

They all went quiet for a second.

Flo set her mug down. “So, what are you going to do about it?”

You looked at her like she’d asked you to solve world peace. “What can I do? I ran out of the room like an idiot.”

“You panicked,” Liv said simply, brushing her hand against your arm. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Sabina tilted her head. “But maybe don’t run next time, yeah?”

You nodded slowly, chewing the inside of your cheek. The image of Will’s sleepy face, the warmth of his chest, the way his thumb had never stopped drawing shapes against your arm - it all came rushing back.

“I don’t know what this is,” you whispered. “But it’s driving me insane.”

Flo smiled. “Then talk to him about it.”

There was a beat of silence. Just the sound of the wind brushing softly against the windows, and the distant hum of voices downstairs. Then Liv stood, smoothing down her hoodie with a sigh.

“Alright, lovebirds. Let’s get ready before someone else accuses us of being dramatic.”

“We are dramatic,” Sabina shot back, and you couldn’t help but laugh, your nerves softening under their familiar chaos.

But even as they joked, your thoughts lingered in the quiet corners of that morning.

"WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?! Are you actually serious?" You asked your boyfriend in genuine shock, followed by a laugh from the man dressed in head to toe in Ferrari merch. The red and yellow colors clashed hilariously with the sleek, orange McLaren paddock pass hanging around his neck.

"What? I thought I'd support the winning team." He shrugged, a cheeky grin spreading across his face. You and Harry got invited by the Mclaren F1 team to watch the Silverstone Grand Prix from the paddock. As a Formula 1 fan youself, you were excited to see the cars upclose. To watch the mechanics to the pitstops, engineers do their things (idk what they do lmao) and to watch Max Verstappen overlap the whole grid like seven times. Even since you were a little kid you were amazed by those cars driving freakishly quickly. Now, several years later you get to experience it right infront of your eyes.

"Look, there's Lando!" Harry pointed out, spotting your friend talking to a group of mechanics. You approached Lando, who broke into a wide grin as he saw you. "Hey! There are my favorite YouTubers!"

You beamed. "Lando! It's so good to see you. How's it going?"

"It's been wild but amazing," Lando replied, glancing at Harry. "And I see you've managed to get Harry in the right gear this time."

Harry laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I had a little help with that."

Lando gave you two a playful nudge. "So, who are you rooting for today? Besides me, of course."

You laughed. "Well, McLaren, obviously. But I'm also excited to see how the Brits perform. It's going to be an interesting race."

"That's the spirit," Lando said, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "Alright, I better get back to my team, but I'll see you guys later? Enjoy the race!"

You and Harry found a spot in the back of Landos garage, it had a view on the screens but also the pit-stop. The whole race went by fast. The moment the lights went out Lando tried his hardest with a deserved P2 at his home race.
