“I’m Daniel Ricciardo and i’m a car mechanic” is how it all began for me back in 2020. I quickly fell into the rabbit hole of F1, spending hours on F1tv and youtube rewatching old races, interviews.. you name it, i saw it.

Some time after that, i started struggling mentally and had quite a bit of personal stuff going on, yet the constant positive was Daniel. His smile, his optimism when even he went through hell and back, was the reason i was smiling. Somehow he always found a way to make me smile. The No Brakes videos, carpool karaoke videos.. they all plastered a smile on my face.

In a world full of grey, he was the rainbow.

I met some incredible people through this fandom. I made incredible memories that will stay with me forever. The laughs and the cries are tattooed on my brain.

If this is it now, i cant handle the thought of it. Not like this. When he isnt able to finish the season to probably finish his amazing career. Ive been crying since last night when the race ended. Im drained. I just cant imagine f1 without him. I dont want to. My chest feels heavy and my heart is broken.

The highs were so high but the lows.. damn were they low. I was here through all of it for the past 4 years. And no matter what, he remains my number one and i cant wait to see what the future holds for him as i will follow along.

Perfect

Zayn said he wouldn’t buy the record when he heard Perfect (so salty!). Harry's emotions varied performing it in its short 27 performance run from Oct-Dec when 1D ended. These 2 stand out:

November 20 2015, rather than sing the Bridge Harry said to the crowd "if you think it's so funny you can sing it".

3 days later at the AMAs he rolls his eyes and looks ready to walk out, the camera cuts to a kid who seems to agree. (Bridge is 2:40).

It was only performed 6 more times, in Carpool Karaoke (10:30) Harry stops singing for parts and the song cuts before the bridge, at the Jingle ball he looks away and the last time was new years.

Or this concert he put the mike into the crowd, someone stole the microphone and licked it.

Safe to say he regretted that bridge, it's savage to them both.

Writers

Perfect ties with Fools Gold for the title of the Haylor song with the most writers, at 7. While Fools Gold has all 5 of the band, Bunetta and Ryan. Harry and Louis are the only band members who worked on Perfect with Bunetta, Ryan and 3 others:

Jesse Shatkin, (cowrote Sia's Chandelier)

Jacob Kasher (Maroon 5 collaborator), and

Mozella (cowrote Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball and Fools Gold.)

To me, Perfect has more media grabbing pop-song than Harry Styles. HS’s best 1D work was with teams of 3 or 4 writers. In fact, Bunetta said Olivia came out in 45 minutes while overworking another "less good" MITAM song.

Timeline

Bunetta also told Rolling Stone about Perfect:

"That one took a long time, just because it was written over a couple different continents. It started as one thing and ended up where it is."

MITAM was made in the summer of 2015. To have been written in a couple of continents and with USA based writers it was probably either side of the BBMAs. It could have been started 'as one thing' in April in South Africa before the BBMAs other songs that reference Style including Two Ghosts started early in the year. The "ended up where it is" with those writers would be after the BBMAs, when they got back to the USA from July. This would be at the end of the album and he was singing it daily within 3 months.

Similarity to Taylors songs

It has the same chord progressions as Style and is also very similar to out of the woods as this video on Twitter shows. He called it a love song in the made in the AM interview (6 mins) and that it wasn’t literal in another. I do love this James Cordon bit and I love his Taylor smile so much.

Lyrics

Promises come up again in Woman "Promises are broken like a stitches is", which is interesting if both Woman and part of Perfect are written after the 2015 BBMAs.

‘Know what you are looking for’ is interesting. In "Say don't go" and the 1989 TV Vaults in general Taylor did not get what she was looking for. At 23, dating a 19 year old Taylor told us she didn’t get wavy she needed. Her most recent ex, JG was 29. (yes - JG was the age Harry is now! Imagine if he did that) So I kind of stand by this line.

The start refers to the night they met. Which neither has ever confirmed, I think it was in 2011 (see timeline) Many look at the coat he tries on in the music video, which matches both his Up All Night Tour outfit (from December 2011) and the 2012 Kids Choice Awards. The awards are fun though. The Up All Night DVD also has it.

[Verse 2: Niall] I might never be the hands you put your heart in Or the arms that hold you any time you want them But that don't mean that we can't live here in the moment 'Cause I can be the one you love from time to time

Urgh I choose to attribute 'love from time to time' to one of the 6 other people writing this. To me this line always sounds like a boy-band heartthrob priority playing out in the writers room. No wonder it took time and HS1 to overcome this.

However, this does speak to a theme of them not being available to each other because of their careers and 1D punishing schedule. If I could fly's "I'm missing half of me when we're apart" and Half the World Aways " So you're not my girlfriend / Don't pretend that makes us nothing / Tell me you don't miss this feeling" speaks more honestly to the interplay of his band image, schedules and priorities which Taylor referred to Suburban Legends.

The camera’s flashing is good imagery and his voice brings to life how personally challenging it was for them both in a way I Know Places didn't with very few words. Taylor also refers to this imagery in Is it over now?

But the break up songs is a low blow and I assume the part he regretted to the point of not wanting to sing it. In a later interview Harry said:

“The only time you really think, ’is this song too personal?’ is if you think about, ‘is this going to be really annoying for the other person?’ Because I do [care],” he finished.

Which I think the break up song line would have been very annoying.

So I've been in many fandoms mostly because I don't stay in one for long, being a Jimin stan is the longest I've been in a fandom ever. But anyway in a lot of English speaking fandoms you'll end up meeting a lot of North Americans because by population there's just so many of them. Of course the fandom subject makes a difference too, but it's something I've noticed. I'm not american by the way. While I've been in fandoms with different fan-makeups (Indians in Bollywood fandoms or Europeans that time I was really into skam, sea countries for kdramas), armys were the first time I felt the true depth and scale of a truly global fandom. However the more time I spent I did notice there were some clusters within as well - a lot of tkkrs were made up of Indians and filos, a lot of jkkrs were made up of latam armys and so on.

When I became a pjm last year though, suddenly I was back in that scenario of a fandom filled with north Americans again. Dont misunderstand, Jimin has a lot of international fans too and I've met plenty of Indians, filos well Asians in general, latams, europeans, Africans and middle eastern folks who solo stan Jimin but proportionally I feel like the number of Americans is higher among pjms than among armys.

Anyway all of this is just my personal experience so it's not scientific in any way but it's just something I felt during my time here

This all makes total sense though. Fandoms being more made up of the demographic where the subject originates. For Jimin his strong holds are definitely LATAM, SK and North America.

All those US appearances and performances really solidified his reach here. Especially SNL and carpool karaoke cause both were super key for him. SNL showed off his performance skills and how he commands the stage while carpool showed of his great personality. Yea, they were almost a year apart, but most people aren’t gonna forget a face or a performer like jimin. Pair both together and you get a charismatic super star. And not all the US fans are just casual (even though I’m positive he has a lot of those) like he gained such a good amount of real stans here who are willing to spend money on him and stream. That’s invaluable. He really lucked out.

hi ! Im soo happy that you're enjoying them, theyre fun kids ! I ended up writing more than expected so please see under the cut <3

So the knights are a bit of a dynasty in terms of ohl teams. They've actually only won the memorial cup (best team out if all teams in the canadian hockey league) twice but if you look at the team awards. They were a bit of a powerhouse last year and swept a couple of their playoff series which is crazy. They're known for their player development and have produced a ridiculous amount of nhl players.

The sheer amount of nhlers that come from the knights is crazy, just the leafs for example have four currently on their roster in john tavares, mitch marner, max domi, anthony stolarz. The leafs president brendan shanahan is also an alumni. Other notable active alumni include nazem kadri (cgy), matthew tkachuk (cats), nikita zadorov (bos), bo horvat (nyi) and others but genuinely there are too many to list.

I am obviously leafs brained so if you want to talk about the mitch marner easton cowan parallel then welcome to the club! Cowboy first of all is beloved, drafted 28th overall by the leafs and largely considered to be a flop pick by the media, went on to put up a 96 point in 56 game season, as well as a 36 game point streak setting a new franchise record and winning ohl mvp. He then went on to score 34 points in their 18 game playoff run winning mvp for the playoffs as well. He is the first player to win both regular season and playoff mvp in the same season since mitch marner. He is an alternate captain this year, and made canadas world juniors team last year, and I love him.

Other notable players (TO ME) include:

Denver barkey: drafted in the 2nd round by the flyers 2023. NEWLY MINTED CAPTAIN 🫡, darling boy with the face of a doll. Was selected to be part of a collaboration with snoopdog and nhl enforcers??? has he ever won a fight? No.

Oliver bonk: drafted 22nd overall by the flyers 2023, assistant captain, and part of the 2024 canadian world juniors team. His dad played In the nhl for 14 years ! Noted worst aux on the team but seemingly unaware. Just seems very sweet and I like him :)

Sam Dickenson (number three london knights): drafted in the first round by the sharks but bc they also got mack this year he was kind of overshadowed. They also don't have anything linking them like a team usually would push for, probably bc of the fwd/defence divide and also bc mack already got a government issued boy best friend in will smith. I love him though, he was their baby last year and he's a brat bc of it. heart and soul of the teams social media

Lol, I was watching the ‘17 HS carpool karaoke segment and the bit about how he gets away with fashion (kinda like Daylight mv ref bit) & his knowledge/dialogue depth of romcoms (Notebook, Titanic, Notting Hill) was funny (female influence growing up perhaps). I guess he digs that type of “Cinema”. Even Nicholas Sparks wants to book him. The duet of Endless Love “Two heart beating as one” reminded me of his Two Ghosts song. (Shania Twain also did duet with Lionel Ritchie for EL- LOML also has that 80s love ballad vibe). Hopeless romantic? He even added “I will always love you” in Keep driving. TS did karaoke with the WH version.

TS also uses a lot of romcom tropes. Examples love triangle, best friends to lovers, forbidden love, historical romance, older, bad boy, doomed, unrequited, etc. Both are known readers & TV/film buffs- theatrical too. His music is a little more abstract while hers is built more like a book or script at times- but visually, lyrically & musically they hook people in- especially the videos. Their curiosity about details of others is noted- shakes hands, personal introductions, gifts. I think in his audition he mentioned possibly wanting to study sociology, business & law. Her scholar interests were English, history, finance & marketing- but she did learn a bit of Latin in HS too. Another thing, sometimes I feel like they’ve referenced Dirty Dancing (Time of my Life, She’s like the wind). Lol, even Ed Sheeran’s mv had that dance ref. Shivers? It’s just a pop culture thing to draw from the past and spin it to recreate a new story- just something done in music & media- TV, books & film. Sidenote, I was watching TS’s CMT skits & vlogs. Lol, Thelma & Louise (w/ Shania) & “Dreams” segments -Star Trek (JJ Abrams film), NFL, Thug story (w/ T-Pain). I kinda think the TS’s CMT & HS LLN bits and their music video performances worked better than the SNL ones & films. Both are funny- but I guess critics would say both may not always deliver. I wonder how they would have done with Screwball romcom films? Superhero films kinda fill that space now.

Lol, sometimes the Haylor narrative fits the Friends-to-Lover trope. Like When Harry MET Sally (it even has a New Year’s day bit). Especially the catalogue. Cornelia Street, You are in Love, Cruel Summer, New Year’s Day, Glitch, Maroon, Keep Driving, Little Freak, Meet me in the Hallway, Two Ghosts, Long Story Short, Illicit Affairs, Cowboy like me, Kiwi, Night Changes, You & I and so on… so many pieces- and that doesn’t even mention covers, collaborators or influences (playlist). Just the other day I mentioned to someone that Jackson Wang’s recent stuff made me think of them.

Even in a way Begin Again fits ”But you start to talk about the movies/That your family watches every single Christmas”. Both have mentioned Love Actually- includes Joni Mitchell song. Also one of Niall’s team auditioned with it. He’s another mutual link between them. Lol, both of them are so embedded in pop culture lately- media brings up TS music or news and even HS gets brought up (by Prince Harry, the president, etc.). Their story is Stranger (or Sweeter) than Fiction. Soap opera w/ plot twist & cliffhangers.

Yea you can tell they both have the same influences. I love that Harry loves rom coms. Not many guys will enjoy watching a rom com with you. I was reading Beach Read last week and I thought Harry and Taylor could play these characters in a movie. I would love to see them in something like Daisy Jones & the Six. And yea they are the music industry right now.

3. who got you into kpop?

I have two answers for this? One that doesn’t count and one that does.

First is Gangnam Style, that was my unofficial start. But it was for a lot of people so I don’t count it.

And then I’d heard BTS songs (specifically DNA) before via social media but I didn’t know they were kpop or BTS at the time.

you were both in the balcony of your apartment in monte carlo, watching the night sky and the water sparkling with the light of the moon, it was late night and for the past two hours you were talking about anything that would show up in your mind, after home made dinner you were drinking wine, talking and enjoying each other’s company

with some alcohol in your body you couldn’t help but look at his lips while he was talking, the mustache of a couple of days that he let grow because you said that you liked, his nose, his eyebrows moving and his eyes that were shining because of the many glasses of wine that he had drunk.

“you remember that?” he asked laughing a little but you were so immersed in his beauty

“what baby?”, “our third date? you remember?” he said as he started playing with your hand in his chest. how could you forget that date, it was the best date that you could ever had, daniel had taken you out of the city in his car to watch the sunset on a cliff while having a picnic, but on your way back to your house you had to stop your carpool karaoke because the car was about to combust, or that was what dan has said, so you stayed on the road for like three more hours waiting for some help, because even though he was an f1 driver he didn’t knew about mechanics, at first he tried to fix the problem but there was no way he could do it alone, so you ended up sitting on the trunk watching the night sky. you couldn’t stop talking and sharing anecdotes with each other. for the first time you felt connected with someone and you loved that feeling. he was so easygoing, he would talk with so much passion about the things that he liked and anytime that you said something he would put all his attention in you, that was one of the things that you loved about him, even though he was millionaire he enjoyed simple plans with you, he didn’t need anything else but a nice company and some alcohol to have a good time. as the hours passed you both started to get more comfortable with each other, he was laying his head on your thighs as you were caressing his curls, both laughing and enjoying your time together. that’s when you realized, you had fall in love with this man, like you’ve never been before, you started thinking how it would be to wake up by his side, going along with him on race weekends, dancing in your living room, cooking with him and loving him.
