I think a lot of girls fall into a pit where you transition to overcome depersonalization, and that on its own tides you over for a bit. But once the rush of the new is over and you're living in your new body, if you haven't made a self to go along with it, then you'll fall right back into the hole, right?

You might not have the dysphoria anymore, but you go back to viewing yourself from afar, playing by remote control.

The self-concept is more important than the medicine. I mean it.

Medicine is wonderful, don't get me wrong. The softness is like a dream, the new curves are beyond what I cold have hoped for when I was young. I love having a body I'm comfortable in, that looks beautiful in the mirror, that doesn't repulse me when others tell me it's beautiful. I'm so glad to find out that it wasn't my body that was wrong the whole time, there was always treatment that could have helped me get here.

But those things... they really come down to having a good relationship with my own body, you know? And that won't change even if my hormones do.

I'm dedicated to building my body up the way I want it - to live in the way I think is most beautiful. But I also am a pragmatic beast who's known what it's like to have nothing too. I can still live. I can still be me, even without the medicine that makes my body more comfortable.

A sense of self. "Imagine a future self who has already surpassed her own limits," then make every move you can to get to her.

It sounds like magical thinking because it is. Many of us - rational-minded and pragmatic creatures with both feet on the ground - shy away from ideas rooted in magical thinking. "That's just bullshit," you say, shaking your head. But let me enlighten you: The whole concept of the self is magical thinking. Yet even in the depths of your disconnect you believe in it. You believe other people have one, which is why you feel so alienated from them.

You need to stop and reassess.

The self is inherently magical. It can't be proven or disproven. It can't be quantified or measured. Science has yet to find a way to isolate the sense of self in the body and I suspect it never truly will. Yet we have it. We, as humans, all have it.

So use it to your advantage.

That's how you overcome depersonalization for good. You need to decide who you want to be. Create an image in your mind. "I don't know what I want to be..." Of course you don't know yet - you're afraid of finding out your limits. But all the time you spend not pursuing your ideal self is time that your dreams spend slipping away from you.

What's that? You don't dream, either? Well - you're too old to not have a dream, aren't you? Adults wither away without one - they grow up into bad kids, or maybe like you they grow up into nothing at all.

This world is so vast and we are such small creatures. We can't change the world - there's barely anything you or I can do to change the flow of history or the fact of our era.

But you can change yourself.

Decide who you want to be and become them. That's called Self-Actualization, and it is the one and only magic afforded to us as humans.

I want a future that's kinder, that's full more of hope than the bitter-black despair I've known for so long. I want to be a person who's worth having lived this long. I want to be the person my past self will be proud of having grown up into. And I want to become the future self who has been there by my side this whole time, waiting to meet me in the future. My greatest ally in the whole world.

So even though I'm just a small part of this world, I'll change myself to make it so.

I hope you can find your Worth too. It's right there inside you.

Alright people, buckle up because we're in for a ride. Edward is a troubled, troubled man so his love language type preferences aren't exactly the healthiest and that's without getting into how he shows affection. Love language preferences though, it's important to remember Ed's a narcissist through and through so words of affirmation are right up there. Tell him how great he is, that he's the best thing in your life, remind him what a brilliant mind he has, the whole shebang!

The more you compliment and praise Eddie, the more he likes it and ngl, Edward will eat that praise right up like a greedy kid running rampant in a sweet shop. He's been starved of that praise his whole life so getting a steady supply of it will stoke his ego to higher levels than ever before. It's all attention at the end of the day and if there's one thing Eddie loves, it's getting attention (be it positive or negative!) Eddie also likes acts of service but he's weirdly sceptic about it at the same time; he loves being doted on but he can quickly turn mean if he thinks you're pitying him or that he needs help. Keep it small, just little things like handing him the right tools or pieces for his traps, stuff he could very well do for himself but shows you're paying interest to his hobbies. Gift giving? He's sceptic about that too unless you give him stuff he actually likes and can use (otherwise expect it to get tossed into the bin right in front of your eyes, he can be a shithead like that asdfghjk) Quality time is pretty much the same as giving him attention. Doing stuff with Eddie usually means watching him work, being part of the background and interjecting from time to time. If Edward REALLY likes you, you might be taken along one one of his heists which... may or may not be a fun experience depending on your muse's view on crime. Physical touch, nope. Not unless he likes you a lot or trusts you so definitely don't start touching him right away or he'll probably brain you with his cane. NOW THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY, Let's talk about how Edward shows affection. I think it goes without saying that Eddie can be a real hypocrite and worse, inappropriate as fuck when it comes to showing his interest. This is a man who lovebombed a woman all because he saw her in a particular way, sending loads of flowers to her, chocolates, paying off her university debts, the usual stuff you do for somebody you met for all of two minutes. It didn't occur to him for a while to get to know her first and maybe not do the stereotypical romance stuff you'd expect from a hallmark movie. He really has so very little idea how to show affection in actual, healthy ways. He may do certain things for you because he likes them so naturally you would like that too, wouldn't you? Oh wait, you probably don't, because you're not him but as a narc, Ed struggles at times with the notion that you're not just some extension of himself. On the plus, he can be fiercely protective, because he sees you as his and anybody who thinks they can get their hands on you is liable to lose theirs in some kind of accident. Another thing Eddie's hypocritical as fuck about is, again, personal touch. He's VERY tetchy when it comes to strangers getting up in his personal space but if he decides he likes you, he has no respect for boundaries; he'll stand real close, too close, maybe rest a hand on your shoulder, position you in a way he likes. He's weird in the way he'd do more for others than he expects from them but in all honesty, just find yourself a healthier guy. It is SO not worth dealing with Edward's shit LMAO.

I don't think that's even possible, given the parasitic nature of sanitized ink. Without going too deep into the details, you'd probably have to drain me completely dry, which would genuinely, really kill me. And if I did happen to survive, by some miracle, I'd probably end up with even more medical problems, anyway.

I truly don't think Tomo would be able to see the aranaras. They are someone forced to grow out of that "child-wonder" early on in their life. Never had the time to be a "child" nor dream like one. From the start they centered themselves towards surviving and getting by so this "freedom of imagination", of dreaming and being as careless as one could be, was never something they had the chance to experience. Tomo's dreams as a child would be mostly about eating their favorite treats or having a warm roof above their head but those were occasional at best. You could say that they had to "grow up" to make it another day and that took away any chance to be a kid like any other. This has made them lose that kind of opportunity to see past some of the cruel reality of life. They are someone that focuses on the future and what takes to get to a better tomorrow, such way of thinking has never allowed them to have that pure and "free" way of seeing things like kids that most people lose when growing up. Most lose it when growing up, Tomo, on the other hand, wasn't able to even have it with everything they were subjected to as a child.

the thing about rio is that she's not the trope of like a "super sensitive person stuck in a violent job but they want to escape". she's complex, sure, and there's layers to her that's more than just lady death, there's sensitivities there, but... she's not a hero by any means. she's also not an anti hero at all. she isn't going to help superhero types unless something's in it for her.

i mean, sure, the job isn't always fun. she hates ghosts and the concept of being part of someone's unfinished business isn't appealing. it gets in the way sometimes and seeing traumatizing things day and in and day out can get tiring sometimes. obviously she has a heart under all of that. she falls in love, she comes to trust people. she wants to be held gently and kissed and treated like she's a person. there are very few people who have ever gotten that close to her. very few who have seen that side of her.

but, on the flip side of it... she's a little evil. she's definitely crazy. but that's the fun part. rio may not kill people that often, but it sure is fun to watch!
