I keep seeing posts/vids (on Twitter & YouTube) about Perth being super clingy with Santa, most of them are about it being cute but some are questioning why. It makes me wonder if these are new fans of Perth, or only know him from GMMTV.

I mean, think about it. This guy has gone through nearly half a dozen acting partners since he started working in the QL industry, and he’s only 24 years old! His first acting partner was Saint, whom e formed a strong bond and friendship with when they both stared in Love By Chance, only to lose Saint as a partner thanks to Perth’s own manager. PerthSaint had the makings of being one of the long haul pairings, people loved them, they had fantastic chemistry and they were great friends. Thankfully they still are great friends, but what Perth’s manager did put a very abrupt end to PerthSaint as a pairing.

Then his managers tried to partner him up with Mark (Aran from Jack & Joker) but the pair only worked together in one series, before management could try anything more for the pairing Perth left his old management company (Mark did as well iirc) and went independent whilst also working on building up his own management company and also trying to finish university at the same time.

Once again the BL ship nearly sailed for him with Bas (North from Fourever You) with a soft launch bromance movie featuring heavily gay undertones. They got along, had people really liking them, but didn’t work out. Movie partnerships rarely transfer into BL series and vice versa, with a very few exceptions.

Soon after that he signed to GMMTV, big boost in his popularity with that, name in brighter lights, more eyes on him, etc. That’s good, he’s talented, can act, sing, play multiple instruments and is trained in media arts, acting & directing. The guy should have all the chances in the world, GMMTV instantly paired him up with Chimon. They get along alright, seemed friendly, chemistry wasn’t fantastic but it was passable. Worked twice (three times, they co-stared together years ago in a non-BL series) with Chimon, which is more than he could say for his other partners.

Note: He did work with Saint once more on a miniseries that P’New made specifically for the lead characters from Love Sick and brought in PerthSaint as secondary characters as a little farewell to their fandom. It was awkward all around and just a mess, I don’t recommend tbh. But if you have 30 minutes to kill on cringe, check it out if you’d like.

So GMMTV is gearing up for Perfect 10 Liners and bam, Chimon pulls out, he’s ill and frankly not very interested in QLs. All the respect for him btw, I’m glad he’s finally feeling well enough to return to work in any capacity.

So there’s Perth, 4th potential branded partner gone. You’ve gotta wonder how that felt to him, was he starting to feel like it was him!? The whole series is tossed for a loop, now they either need to replace Chimon as Gun or just pull Perth entirely and put in a new acting duo to play the roles of Yotha and Gun.

Then Wabi Sabi ends all their contracts out of the blue (to us, the actors probably knew for months) and shifts from production to management, only finishing up the largest of their slotted projects; The Fourever You series.

GMMTV starts snatches up ex Wabi Sabi actors like they’re Pokémon and in comes Santa, who has an odd little six degrees of separation with Perth via Cooheart, Soodyatch and Sammy. It was legit like the universe stepped in and offered up the perfect partner for Perth, both he and Santa are high quality actors, they’ve both worked with the same group of actors and director multiple times. Not to mention, they are complete opposites of one another, which in turn caused them to pull one another out of their comfort zones. They were unexpected but also made perfect sense, their chemistry was insane and people instantly loved them.

Even other actors who have known Perth for a long while have said that Santa brought light into Perth’s world, where he was very broody before he now laughs and smiles so much. So yeah, Perth is absolutely clingy, and with good reason. But Santa clings right back, he doesn’t seem to mind Perth going beyond skinship and fan service into full on clingy bestie territory.

I think finally Perth has found his pairing, and it’s brought a lot of joy and love into his life. He has close friends, works at a (mostly) decent company, and is comfortable with his acting partner. The boy is happy! Probably for the first time in a long time, it’s been a slog for him to get to where he is, so yeah, him following Santa around like a clingy puppy is both very endearing but also very understandable imo.

Since the official art of them came out, I've seen some very hilarious takes about Yuuji and Sukuna. Some people coping HARD. "Yuuji is forcing him" Well gee, since when can he force Sukuna to do anything? Or is Sukuna that powerless against him? Even in Yuuji's domain, Sukuna didn't have to catch a damn crayfish or do archery, but he did, mind you all this happened BEFORE Yuuji said he could kill him (and even when this happened, he had support from Nobara). He's like, "ahggg fine I GUESS I can do this" lmao. In the official art, he's the one leading the dance. For what reason? Gege didn't have to draw them with their fingers intertwined, with Sukuna's arm around Yuuji's waist, and yet. Why have all this with the snow falling around them? (Yes the cat might be pandering, that's another valid reason) Right after we have the epilogue with Yuuji saying he still likes the snow and it's special to him?

"B-but he doesn't like Yuuji!" Well Sukuna called Yuuji by his full name when he was turning to dust. Have we forgotten that that's an indication that Sukuna respects someone/a sorcerer? Is it not significant going from "brat" to "Itadori Yuuji"? I'm guessing this does not apply to Yuuji then lmao. Also, I'm not saying Sukuna loves him or likes him like he loves, idk, fighting. But he at least recognized Yuuji. Another thing is that people forget that Sukuna usually says one thing and does another. Isn't this what Mahito implied? He literally called Sukuna a liar and he was like "Yeah so lmao". Their change/development is subtle, but it's there. Isn't the end of the fight an indication of this? Actually, Sukuna had an existencial crisis during this BECAUSE of Yuuji lol. For all his faults, I think some of Gege's strongest points in JJK are Yuuji and Sukuna. Sorry for the long rant btw!

I'm not on that app but I did see several posts here on Tumblr about how "there's suddenly so many skit shippers don't these ppl know that's a horrible ship" like bruh. Do you not realize Yuuji came from a brain inhabiting his mother's corpse? That Yuuji isn't even human? Are they not aware they're reading a work which isn't suitable for children?

Most are coping because sukuita is a problematic ship yet it's getting a lot of spotlight. Hell, Gege had drawn them dancing in the snow together on love day. "Yet they're related!! How could Gege :(". Well... they could lol. They clearly don't give a shit (and I say good for them!)

That's also the big issue to these ppl. Idk if they ship Yuuji with someone else and are mad that his "reincarnated uncle (grand uncle)" got the lovely romantic official art. Let's also not forget that Yuuji practically promised his forever to Sukuna. The finger that he's missing is literally the marriage finger. Am I to blame for that? Nope. Gege wrote it like that and I'm just pointing it out.

Dunno why that's stopping them from shipping their Yuuji ships. If canon's an issue, just focus on non-canon. No need to go shit on skit shippers lmfao

Yuuji had also forced him to become so obsessed with tearing down his ideals and forced him to be in his close proximity while he's fighting him. He also forced him to call him brat and constantly think about him even while fighting others. The power Yuuji holds is, after all, that strong. He even forced him to change his own viewpoint and got him to hold his waist in that official art because he's now capable of using abilities which allow him to control Sukuna's actions. 👍

I think the right sentence is: he's obsessed with hating him so much so that it can't even be about hate anymore, it has to be that he's just in denial and that he loves him. There's a thin line between love and hate, after all. Who in their right mind spends so much time talking and thinking with delight about how someone-who-they-hate's abilities had improved? Who in their right mind changes their ways after their enemy confesses that they'd like to spend forever with them?

CLARY: 0/10. lowkey i was convinced she would get killed off in queen of air and darkness but that didn’t happen and tbh i think she has lifelong plot armour by virtue of being the first ever protag. plus the two jaces inevitably fighting over her doesn’t work if she’s killed off in book 1.

JACE: 1/10. technically he died already in city of glass so uh. doesn’t seem fair to put him back here. in any case i don’t think cc would ever break up clace and also he needs to survive for the jace off but i’m giving him a 1 for wild magic purposes (and also because i can see his ‘died and came back’ thing from city of glass being dug back up for “”parallels””)

ALEC: 0/10. has yaoi plot armour on his side. will never ever die because malec is so resoundingly popular, alec in particular is popular on his own, and killing him off would alienate half the fanbase. next

MAGNUS: 2/10. also has yaoi plot armour + additional factor of everyone expecting him to cameo in each main series book. however marginally more likely than alec because a) shock factor, b) i think cc probably thinks it’s clever and romantic to subvert the idea of magnus outliving alec, y’know. but chances are low i’m not worried

ISABELLE: 5/10. okay i’m a little worried. would fulfil the lightwood sacrifice quota, sizzy has a history of being treated as a little bit more disposable than the other tmi ships (their engagement party is a CLARY short story, their official TMI ending was very open and bittersweet with their ‘endgame’ being relegated to what is objectively an optional short story collection), isabelle can be very angry and impulsive in a way that is conducive to being killed off AND objectively her death would be great angst fodder. however it’s likely that being an original main 6 TMI cast member will save her, as well as thule!jace’s open affection for her and alec. i hope so anyway

SIMON: 4/10. lowkey has suffered more than jesus already and in many ways is cassandra clare’s favourite guy to put in Situations, so it’s possible. i think killing him off would undermine his entire story arc and sacrifice in TMI but that has never stopped cc from making bad decisions in the past...still i’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. i’m mostly concerned because if i remember correctly we never did find out what happened to thule simon and we were told that this was a deliberate omission, but i think he’ll be ok

JOCELYN: 5/10. i actually think the main factor keeping jocelyn alive at this point is cc’s open disdain towards shadowhunters tv and its direction, and the show killed off jocelyn. she’s also technically ash’s grandmother and i imagine something will come of that. equally ash might lash out and have her killed. and she is in that sweet spot of relevant enough for her death to sting but not so major that the fandom would riot. a real coin flip.

LUKE: 7/10. would watch my back if i were him. downworlder married to a shadowhunter while the cohort are inevitably gathering sympathisers outside of idris? girl go into witness protection already. ticks a lot of maryse’s boxes in terms of relevance/how his death would play out. and to be so honest he’s too reasonable lmfao.

LILY: 7/10. her odds are only this low because i think her teaming up with thule jace to get raphael back might last more than one book. anyway. yeah she’s doomed and has been for years. am preemptively taking this very personally.

ELLIOTT: 5/10. makes it onto this list by the skin of his teeth btw since he cameos briefly in the dumort scene in city of bones. granted he’s a fairly minor character but he is lily’s second in command and it is possible he could be a victim of her plan to get raphael back. plus cc’s definition of ‘shock character death’ is subjective, she classed meliorn and maureen as part of her five notable character deaths in CoHF. watch out, is all i’m saying

MAIA: 9/10. has never been more doomed by the narrative in her life, by which i mean: she’s alive in thule. plus she has always been in an awkward position of not quite main tmi gang but too important to be relegated to the background, and killing her off ‘fixes’ that. would have emotional impact on all the main tmi gang, but also lily, which would push her further into trying to bring raphael back to cope. as a side note i am not happy about this and i sincerely hope maia gets to live but.

BAT: 6/10. i can never tell if we’re meant to care about him or not tbh. anyway if he does go down it’s probably with maia. and this would be kind of a fun callback in the worst way possible—he’s the dj at pandemonium in city of bones! getting killed off in the first book of the final series would be very full circle. would be shades of killing off jordan all over again though so who knows

MARYSE: 7/10. more likely to be the necessary lightwood sacrifice than isabelle BUT we saw her executed in thule already and like…not sure if you can kill her off again and have it work. and also i don’t think readers will care if she dies? presumably this death is being done for shock factor. idk. that said yeah the odds aren’t super in her favour

ALINE: 7/10. i actually think she perfectly hits the criteria for this kind of death—we’ve technically known her since city of glass but she only really became relevant in TDA, it will undoubtedly traumatise all the blackthorns and either cause division or bring them closer together, killing her off in book 1 allows for a whole ‘helen overcoming grief’ storyline. lowkey aline if i were you i’d be sleeping with one eye open

JIA: 8/10. gets one more point than aline because she’s a former consul and her death would be very ‘barbara lightwood’-y of being close to home for the blackthorns but not TOO close. scraped her way onto this list through a single line of dialogue in city of glass though so maybe splitting hairs

TESSA: 3/10. ‘but tessa doesn’t get introduced until the infernal devices’ wrong. she has an unnamed cameo at the end of city of glass. and can you imagine the shock factor. the subversion of her outliving jem. so very cassandra. i don’t think she’d actually do it but it isn’t IMPOSSIBLE and it would devastate kit.

I read the comments in this post and want to ask a question. Please feel free to ignore if you feel it's offensive. I can understand when queer couple with a certain mindset hate all these questions about top/bottom and all but I've met many queer couple (only asia side and only men) who themselves engage in this top/bottom thing. One of my colleague was very adamant about searching a bottom for him when we went to gay bar (I'm straight btw that's why want to understand). Not only this, a few Korean gay couple were very clear which side they prefer. My curiosity to understand is why would some of the comments implying it's nasty to talk about top/bottom approach when other queer people wants to accept and engage in it. Isn't that what is again queer community? To judge other people's mindset is wrong, no?

Personally I also read a/b/o trope but only of fictional characters. I've never asked any queer person if they are top or bottom or any other tags because I feel that's none of my business.

I don't think this is offensive to ask. It's the only way we learn, right?

So... You kind of answered your own question a bit, I think! Queer couples who want to disclose and people seeking the appropriate sexual partner for their proclivity is their decision. It's not dirty or wrong to have those preferences or to talk about them.

It's not just men either. I have very few straight friends. All my lesbian or AFAB friends who only sleep with women talk about it freely too.

There is zero judgement from me on people who are open to talking about it and I defend our right to discuss sex in the same manner hetero people do.

On the other side...

I think prescribing top/bottom to a couple who have in no way invited you into their bedroom is a huge no. Because the only thing you can possibly be basing it on is physicality, non-sexual behaviour, how they dress, etc.

Jungkook particularly is a victim of a LOT of gross misrepresentation because he has muscles and boxes. Remember we're about a month shy of an article that dehumanised him into "rough male pheromones". The top/bottom discourse is usually used in a reductive way in this case. Often used as a weapon against people who ship a certain way, definitely used to bodyshame Tae.

It's used to keep people in a convenient set of boxes, insult people who think otherwise, body shame and fetishize. It wilfully disregards the ethos Jungkook puts into the world in favour of making him into a fanfic top fantasy.

So my objection is not about the use of top/bottom, Dom/sub, alpha/omega in general.

It's about how it's never used thoughtfully or carefully by a certain subset. Their fetish and their fantasy comes first before any thoughtful consideration to the stereotypes rampant in queer media, queer community and queer representation.

And those reductive stereotypes hold us down.

Does that make sense? Top and bottom talk is fine if the people have opted to talk about it. Prescribing sexual positioning based on looks and personality is absolutely not fine.

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

for context lover be good to me is my ghostbat feelings depository and tbh…. when i wrote it i set out to a) exorcise porn thoughts and b) convert people into reading batman: the knight. that’s pretty much it. i’m still quite self-conscious of it having written it as a general non-comics reader but i did read and enjoy btk and kind of wanted to seduce other people into my little world where we’re pretending that this version of batman is the only batman (for now).

now i would say i want readers to learn about the appeal of ghostbat. its a dead ship rip minhkhoa khan dc never knew how to write you anyway queen BUT. i think they have a lot of merit

15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

lover be good to me was really important to me when i wrote it because it taught me i could write again. i’m the kind of writer who is both unmotivated and extremely self-conscious and afraid of Making Bad Art, which means i go very long periods where i don’t write anything. at all. currently in one of those btw. this fic taught me that i can write, and will write, and when i do the results are not perfect but they are compelling and worthwhile

5: What part was hardest to write?

lipstick on the glass is mostly fun silly gushy timkon and tbh it flowed out of me fairly painlessly. i had two specific scenes in mind and let myself write just those and nothing else, no complications, so i remember the process being smooth. tbh the hardest part was realizing i had to come up with halloween costumes for everyone and floundering. thankfully @vinelark came up with void nexus jerry and that took care of pretty much everything

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

Thirty-six! I'm a bit sad that I missed the last round number and didn't celebrate. Getting to the next one will take a while.

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

256, 701. Mostly in one-shots.

3) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Shiva (258), What I'd Love to Hear You Say (233), First Bloom (188, E-rated; don't click unprepared), Something Comforting (155), Extra Steps (132; also E-rated).

None of the DA fics made the list... Maybe one day.

4) What fandoms do you write for?

Dragon Age, Persona 5 and 3, Zero Escape, Cyberpunk 2077.

5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! Though I personally find it quite difficult to do. I always feel I can never express my gratitude to the commenter in a sufficient way (their comment will probably always mean more to me than my reply could to them. that sort of thing).

6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Yeahhhhh At the End of Her World is taking that title. Team S: Suspicion [A Dead End] is *very* close, though, but I consider it more violent than angsty.

7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Different Tide, but Still the Same Ocean, probably. Like, imagine getting back your lover who you thought was dead? That's probably the nicest thing I've done to my characters like ever. (note that the death was canonical, I didn't kill the guy. only brought him back)

8) Do you get hate on fics?

Nope.

9) Do you write smut?

Smut makes up 30k words out of my total word count (scattered across 4 fics). Though I have a complicated relationship with all those fics since I typically write smut when I'm Going Through Things, and the association makes it hard to look at them afterwards (there is only one of these 4 fics that I can willingly re-read).

10) Do you write crossovers?

Do fusions count? I've written a Nier x Persona 5 fusion, and a Zero: Escape x Persona 5 fusion.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. Hopefully my knowledge is correct ^_^

I got a request for it once! Though I don't believe it ever went anywhere.

There is a co-written draft about two characters exchanging letters (akesumi, btw). I wrote one character's letters (Akechi), and my partner wrote the other's (Sumire). Just a draft, though, it's not finished.

14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?

15) What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Ghilasara & Illario fic (platonic. friendship only) ... At a glance, it looks like the hardest idea I have right now. I'm afraid the world may never see my vision.

16) What are your writing strengths?

An author whom I respect a lot (<3) once said this about my dialogue: "I feel like I’m watching an arthouse movie or listening to a fantastic radio play."

Which is how I've come to think that I'm good at writing dialogue. Probably.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Visual descriptions my beloathed <3

It's very hard to make my aphantasiac mind care for them. Like I can't see anything in my head anyway, why should I bother describing the appearance of things, it's all the same to me. I couldn't describe a landscape to save my life (though sometimes I try, out of obligation).

Aphantasia also makes it hard for me to write action scenes since, well, I can't imagine them taking place, so I always have the question "Is it even realistic for someone to move this way?" stuck in my mind. This also applies to simple action. I did once break down in tears trying to write characters sitting on a couch pondering "b-but where would all the hands go........."

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

Something I never cared about while I was writing for Persona, and something that I need to start thinking more actively about now. Still on the "gods, how do I put it in a fic in a nice cohesive way?" stage of thinking.

19) First fandom you wrote for?

I think that the first fandom would actually be Dragon Age. I have some drabbles about my OCs from around ~2018-2020, though those are just in my phone notes and I never published them anywhere.

First fandom I published a fic for is Mass Effect.

20) Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I love all my children equal--At The End of Her World. Of course, it's At The End of Her World. Not in the least because I consider it my most successful imitation of the writing style that I really like (Another Country by James Baldwin marry meeee <3), so that's a point of pride for me personally. Plus, not to pat myself on the back, the concept is kind of cool. All hail the divorce ٩(＾◡＾✿)۶

My unpopular opinion about this character: He’s more at fault for the 2x8 kiss than Sam is, and Tory should've been pissed at him for it ✋

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish Tory had gone after him in the fight and not Sam...I mean, he was sober and the one dating Tory

I also wish he and Sam would stop having relationship drama every season like omg we get it, can we move on now 🤦‍♀️ we know you’re endgame, this has no stakes

How I feel about this character: She’s neat. I know people say she's a bad friend, and they’re not wrong. But people hating her for the Ezra thing need to get a mf grip

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Honestly, any of the girls (mostly Spencer) 😂 Noel could’ve been a great option too (like the books!) if the show hadn’t made him so awful. Ooh or Ezra's little brother, iirc they’re around the same age

My non-romantic OTP for this character: the Liars as a group ofc! Also, she and Ezra could've been such great friends if not for their awful romance and the fact that he’s a terrible person aside from that too 😔 smh the chaotic Ezra & Aria friendship we could've had...

I’ve heard Veronica gets better in later seasons, and ofc I know about Spencer’s complicated parental situation, but IDC she still should’ve gotten to say this, I’m mad she didn’t. They were so mean to her in s1 and s2

Oh also on that note, I’d get rid of the cheating that makes her Ali’s half-sister, because…why. And also, no evil twin for her! That should’ve been Ali and Hanna, or Ali and Courtney (like the books)

Heyo, anon who was thinking about writing a Murdock/mannequin fanfic and asked about crack fics. I have realized that the term "crack fic" probably doesn't really fit the premise; I guess I was thinking about "fic for a (kinda sorta) crack ship" and my brain short-circuited that into "crack fic" (oops). Your description of "strange subject matter written in a standard way" does fit my premise nicely, I guess it wouldn't really be a crack fic then. The episode that ship is from also shows later that he genuinely cared about the mannequin and is really upset when it gets broken irreversibly later, so this is more along the lines of Murdock genuinely having a thing for and a relationship/an affair with this mannequin rather than just joking about it, so yeah, the plan is: strange subject matter but non-crackish depiction.

As for the definition of crack fics: the ones I have come across have been a) "usual/standard premise but intentionally silly/wacky (humourous) writing intended to be read as silly as if one had to be on crack to write it and to take it seriously" b) "strange/silly premise and intentionally silly/wacky (humourous) writing intended to be read accordingly as if one had to be on crack to think of the mere premise of the fanfic" c) "strange/silly premise and dead-serious writing as if the plot were the most standard and regular fanfic premise to ever premise plottily," so to say.

My personal definition would probably fall somewhere between a) and b), although I'd love to find more cases of c), as that sounds the most fun to read to me. Have also come across crack fics by middle/high-school students, and by that I mean people who wrote in their author's note stuff like "lolllz i wrote this during lunch break at school with a couple of friends and they dared me to post it so here you go lmaooo" (this is paraphrasing of course, but I have stumbled across multiple crack fics that have author notes like this).

Btw have decided to give it a go, so I'd like to thank you for helping me reach that decision! I was unsure whether this idea would be too silly to write, but then remembered that no amount of silliness can stop me from making fictitious people and fictitious mannequins smooch, ha! (Also am going to look for that Care Bears fanfic, that sounds like fun, so thank you for the recommendation.)

Another btw: I am no longer thinking that Murdock's potential depiction of potential interest in guys is just a joke... Have just seen "There goes the neighbourhood" (4x10), and pretty close to the beginning, they're deciding to leave with a client and her friend/boss is staying in the room, so they're saying their goodbyes and then exiting the room, and Murdock is the last to leave, and he says, "Such a pleasure meeting you, let's do lunch!" and puts on his hat and charmingly smiles at the guy, and then the camera is on the guy who does look interested. I am deciding to categorize this interaction as "not-subtle-at-all flirty encounter," and now firmly believe that either the character was written/directed as bi/pan or bi-curious (considering how much cheek-in-tongue innuendo and humour the show has, I wouldn't be that surprised if they'd decided to subtly and not-subtly get a non-straight character past homophobic film/TV censorship of the 80s) or the actor decided to portray him as interested in guys without the studio/director/whoever-decides-stuff knowing or approving, heheh. (Or the actor just felt like flirting with or hungrily staring at handsome guys, which I also respect lol.) Let's just ignore that I gravitate toward rarepairs and that that probably means I tend to interpret stuff as romantic/sexual interest innuendo that's not actually meant/written to be interpreted as such and that most other people don't bat an eye at, and that that probably means my interpretation is total bullshit, ahem. XD

Also wanted to say thank you for letting me ramble about this specific headcanony stuff from a circa 40yo TV series and unload my silly little thoughts and probable over-interpretations into your inbox. (Holy shit, this ask got long. Sorry for that!)

I mean, I shouldn't pick favorites out of my own characters but I'll admit Trace is a bit precious to me. He was definitely one of my favorites of the cast while I wrote the book.

Who do I ship romantically with them

Trace doesn't have a canon romance. He's given himself to the church and is mostly married to books. He loves books a lot.

Non-romantic OTP

Trace and Paige are a duo throughout the book for a very good reason. I'm a sucker for mentor/mentee pairs. Especially ones that become each other's family. Trace and Paige don't start out that way, but over the course of the adventure they learn to appreciate each other and will die for each other by the end. Love that.

Unpopular headcanon

Am I allowed to have a headcanon as the author? Can a thing be unpopular when no one knows about it? lol. It's probably unpopular that I'm content to let him be single. I mean never say never. The sequel is gonna come out at some point (its my 2025 resolution to write the first draft. For real this time) so who knows what will happen after that.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I get it! “Going by what sounds better” types of pairing names can completely work, for example, like in Hannigram, but they mostly work bc majority of the time people mean a very specific pairing dynamic (95% of the time when people say “Hannigram” they mean top Hannibal and bottom Will, it’s just generally hard to see this two shipped the other way around). I am not sure if I’ve explained what I mean well enough, but yea, those “nice sounding” ship names can totally work, but they usually work in very specific scenarios, you know what I mean?

Also, I gotta agree! As someone who sometimes likes feminine men/short kings/“pretty boys” as tops, it really sucks when I finally find a work with this kind of non-standard top just to be bamboozeled :/ I really like Aster from NU:Carnival and would like to see works with him as top and Eiden (mc) as bottom, but you know…

btw, that’s a small thing, but I really don’t like how bad ship tagging is on AO3. If authors don’t go out of their way to put who is top and who is bottom in the additional tags, majority of the time you wouldn’t know. In my country we have our local big fanfic community and there you can easily filter couples depending on whether you want A/B or B/A (or if you like both you just don’t choose the sorting option for the specific dynamic). Sadly, because a lot of people in my country don’t speak English, that means that I just generally have less choices for works that I can read so I always end up going for sites :(

Hi Isa! I was wondering how you got into watching Mythic Quest? Who's your favourite character so far? Fav episode? Have you seen Dark Quiet Death yet?

About your Ian/Poppy question: NOT a spoiler dw! The MQ showrunners Rob, Megan and David have stated in multiple interviews and podcasts since S1 that Ian and Poppy will never be romantic. They wanted to write an intimate platonic m/f mentor/mentee working relationship/friendship(?) b/w two people with different skills who need each other to achieve their goals. Rob's also said that he thinks the age difference and power dynamic would make it very inappropriate and not what they wanted to explore at all.

Since they've been saying this openly since the beginning, it's not spoiling anything to lyk rn not to expect that type of development in future seasons (ofc non-canon shipping is totally valid, not judging!)

Btw, there's definitely aspects of Rob in Ian and Megan in Poppy, but it's not straight-up self-inserting. Megan gets frustrated when people insinuate that in podcasts/interviews. Poppy's experience working under a difficult arrogant male boss (who still helps her career and whose opinions she respects even as he disrespects her) has influence from Meg's time working for Dan Harmon, but I'm sure lots of other writers in the MQ room have had those experiences too, esp women, and the characters are developed by all the MQ writers, so we shouldn't discredit them just because we only know Rob, Megan and David.

im about 2/3 of the way done with season 1 and I really like it so far! it's a lot different than what I was expecting but that's definitely a good thing

my favorite character is easily brad. he is just so goddamn funny and i think i have a thing for the asshole™ character. and danny pudi is just a fantastic actor

so far, my favorite episode is in fact, dark quiet death. it is so fucking good and I was not expecting it at all. i mean that episode itself should have been nominated for an emmy. im sure there is a reason they included it in the season and I am excited to see how it ties in.

as for ian and poppy, i took back my shipping statement after watching a few more episodes. they are very cute, but in a big brother/little sister kind of way.

i can see how poppy might be influenced by Megan but I agree, it's definitely not a self-insert. I saw a video on here a few days ago where david said that a lot of brad's lines were inspired by megan which I TOTALLY see. megan is so funny in a cutthroat way.

overall, i pretty excited to keep watching. hopefully I can finish it today or tomorrow.
