So funny story. I watched a playthrough of this game when it first came out in 2019, and it's been on my wish list ever since (mostly because of the flight mechanics lol) And now that I found these asks in my inbox again, I checked the Nintendo Store just in case, and it had a 55% discount??? So I got the game and spent the last 2 days playing it and now I'm a changed man (as of posting this, the discount lasts for 2 more days!)

More thoughts and spoilers for the game under the cut!

I made Patch MLM colored instead of some other random Chimeragon, because the game has shown us that he can change colors with every rebirth, which I think is pretty neat :) It also explains why neither Scribbler nor Eir recognize Patch, even after he grows to be a Broadwing and then a Titanwing- if he changes his colors every time he hatches again, then yeah, no wonder they believed there's more than one Chimeragon

I knew what the big twist was going to be at the end because of the playthrough, but MAN does this game not hold its punches. The writers really asked "How can we elevate the Best Friends Forever thing to a whole new level?" and then made Scribbler witness the death and rebirth of his best friend, and now I have to draw these guys with literal tears in my eyes 👍

The sentiment that their friendship literally transcends life and death is so meaningful to me. Patch will continue to die and resurrect, and Scribbler will be there every time to welcome him and forge their bond all over again. The mystery of Scribbler's past, his involvement with Grimmel, and the open ending leave so much room for speculation and theorizing and it's just so incredibly up my alley, it's like it was made in a lab for me lol

This game ended up being a lot darker than I was expecting, but it was honestly so refreshing. The mechanics are simple enough for younger kids to learn, and the artstyle is very evidently targeted at kids as well, but some of the dialogue and the entire theme of death and inevitable loss feels surprisingly mature in contrast. They make you go to Vanaheim and hold a burial for Patch before he resurrects, literally what other kids' game does that?? /pos

Anyways play this game, it's a short and sweet little self-contained adventure, which accomplishes the one task it set out to accomplish: making me cry, specifically

HELLO AGAIN. I SURVIVED THE PLAGUE!!! SOMEWHAT!!! Uhhhh I kinda lost my voice though. But it's kinda better- you wouldn't have wanted to hear me on Saturday though- I sounded like Gumball and Darwin in that one episode where their voices starting to break HAHA. Wasn't fun I felt really embarrassed every time I spoke (but that's just me). OK ANYWAYS- I wasn't expecting to finish this art, with starting this while I was sick and finishing it while I'm on the end of it all it was kinda a weird time for me. But I'm not complaining, first Silly art of 2025! And what better way to kick things off then to draw some edgy art of her looking all angsty and dark. That and she's got a different makeup look on, I dunno if it'll be a returning look or not but I would like to have moments in the show where she has different makeup looks on and all that. Someone put her in a 2000s edgy amv with something like 'Animal I Have Become' by Three Days Grace at this point, she's perfect for it HAH. I also wanted to use this art as an excuse to play around with lighting. It's not perfect, obviously, but I had a lot of fun with it regardless. I wanted to go for that edgy dramatic lighting without using the blur tool all over it. It's kinda a thing I got myself into where I constantly went over the shading with the blur tool as a means to achieve "lighting" when really my artstyle is more/best suited with cel shading. I'm not completely abandoning the blur tool, I mean, I used it to make the thunderbolts and x marks have a glow effect, I'm really just trying to fully figure out the real look I want to have going for when it comes to light and shadow and all that jazz. I wanna take 2025 as a year to really stretch out many artstyle stuff and see what I'm really capable of. And hey you'll probably see more stuff like this with zooms and different face angles too.

I'm full blown rambling now at this point but really I'm just also writing (..or typing) out my thoughts on what I wanna do with my art and how I want it to look. I've applied for an art with animation portfolio course that I REALLY want to get into so hopefully (if) they get back to me I'll have a few neat things already made up in case there is any needed current artwork for the interview. Things are getting hectic (and kinda scary) but I'll survive, 2025 might be a tough as all hell year for me but I'm gonna do my best and get through it all.

Decides to show my face this time cause why not...still I hope classes go well for one of you and the wedding goes amazingly for the other! Can't wait to see more story about your au...like can't wait to learn more about it, see how the story progresses, and so on! I wanted to show my other half, Cas, what you said so i could include her response here, and here it is:

she does the bulk of the art. She will literally crank out these fully detailed AMAZING pieces in like...a day. It's utterly unreal to see her work and I fully credit her with helping me rediscover my love of drawing again. she's a fucking ROCKSTAR. I will 100% wax poetic about her ALL DAY.

For now, the only piece I've done is the oil pastel mouth cross section. but in the beginning, I didn't have access to any of my supplies and hadn't gotten my tablet yet, so I was in charge of the majority of the writing and maintaining the social media stuff. In addition, I also helped provide photo references, since I visit a lot of botanical gardens and collect medical illustration books. now that we can touch on the au again and we both have picked up new skills, I'm really excited to revisit our original ideas and see how we can rework them. so taking a break ended up being a really good thing for the project. (also I can contribute more to the artwork now lol).

Another thing that ended up being a good thing was deciding to move from tiktok to tumblr. Here, we don't have to worry about the algorithm or getting shadowbanned or making sure we're storyboarding scenes juuuuuust right to not get flagged. There was a lot of stuff we had to tone down. One of the Rarity entries actually got flagged on tiktok, and after that the algo stopped promoting us as much. Here, we have more freedom to explore the scenes, body horror, and the darker parts of the worldbuilding. There are two or three pieces of audio that we have saved for future animations, though. In particular is one that I want to use for Celestia waaaay in the future.

But yeah omg we're so glad you're into the idea, and we hope it lives up to your expectations holy shit 🩷

Gonna be honest i followed you for your kim dokja fics but DAMN your boboiboy fics were incredible

Went to watch the show for context of some of the scenes. Gotta say, i was NOT expecting that artstyle, genuinely thought it was an anime or something

was kinda expecting to learn more about islam customs but surprised there wasn't much

Enjoyed the show (was a fun time) a bit sad there were no english subtitles for season 3 but aside from that it was a nice show i'd give it an 8.7/10

I'm still a huge fan of orv and all, but I don't write as much abt kdj as I did for bbb and bajifuyu because orv already has tons of fics around for fans to go through- so i figured I should feed the fandoms that are more starved- (like bbb and bajifuyu from back then-)

But wow I'm seriously surprised you read my bbb fics despite not knowing the context HAHAHAHA but yeah the show itself doesn't really revolve around Islam; I just wrote tls - too late series - because I thought bbb and fang are kinda neat together, but I know they would never happen and all. Then I was like 'oh writing about this could actually be fun', so that's basically how tls is made;

A series where the forbidden love was requited but never to be... it really was bittersweet... and I had fun writing it.
