#this also has no canon basis? at least in the games. so idk where it even comes from??

one of my least favorite things i come across when some sonic fans talk about world-building is them trying to incorporate like…mobian/anthro “oppression” from humans. and comparing it to smth like racism. thankfully this sort of idea is rare, but it's still wild to see

I actually started watching 9-1-1 around the time Buck become canonically queer.
One of my online friends one day randomly texted me if I have watched the latest 9-1-1 episode - to which I replied no - she told me to watch the show because it's so good, and even I was looking for a new show to get hyperfixated on to get out of some previous hyperfixation.
I fell in love with the show since I started bawling my eyes out on that baby in the drain pipe emergency - the adrenaline rush of it made me stay and helped with my little depression phase in some ways.
Then I started falling in love with the characters, the style of writing, the chemistry in their found family, everything - became totally hyperfixated.
Saw Eddie Diaz in Season 2 and 🥵🔥 - found a new fictional crush and celebrity crush.
I fell in love with the relationships - Bathena, Madney, Henren - they looked so mature and healthy couples compared to more angsty overlty dramatic relationships in fiction that get written for audience viewership and not for the actual story.
And while looking up a YouTube clip of the bar flashback with Bobby, Chimney, Hen and Tommy because I found it funny how Chimney said he has no scars knowing about the rebar storyline written for his character's future and in the comment section got spoiled about Bi! Buck and Tommy becoming his eventual boyfriend.
But that spoiler didn't bother me, in fact it made me more excited to keep watching because while binge-watching it all together, it wasn't hard to forget Tommy as a character compared to when I would have watched the show on air basis - so his arc felt much more organic rather than out of nowhere to me at least. I was excited to see yet another healthy and mature relationship with like dramas that were more realistic than just marketing bullshit.
Reached the first kiss between Buck and Tommy and holy shit - one of the best on screen kisses - like I remember ranting to my friend how I was literally kicking my feet (Buck's Bi! arc was why she texted me out of excitement and urged me to watch the show) because wow and then as the relationship grew I was so happy for both the characters and their relationship - for Buck to finally get an endgame he deserves - a healthy mature relationship that just felt realistic and organic.
And yes I have also had problems with the show over its course but I was able to overlook them given how fixated I got with the characters and their relationships and the whole found family dynamic of it all.
Today - I just, I don't remember ever being so disappointed in a show - maybe the Game of Thrones finale? Idk - like yes that was disappointing but the show ended so I didn't bother with it much. But like - this is just so not it - I don't remember being this devastated by a fictional break up - it literally feels like I had a break up. So much so that a part of me just wants to stop watching the show - but I also can't because I am still invested in where Eddie's arc is going and when and how they are bringing Christopher back.
Maybe I am being a bit melodramatic about this but honestly it feels like a full circle, an invisible string of sorts for me as well, as how Buck and Tommy's kiss was how the universe in its way encouraged me to watch the show and today its the very reason for the first time I felt like I want to stop watching the show and have nothing to do with it.
Funny how the universe works.

Hot take: The lack of Shirai Ryu Ocs could be explained by the fact that the clan has what? FIve members (Hanzo, Harumi, Satoshi, Forrest Fox, Takeda) and NRS decided to kill off 3 of them without delving further into the clan's structure (mkx comic slightly mentioned the rebuilt clan, mind you - not the original one,as a "protective force" or sth,but for about 5 pages in before all of them were slaughtered (again)) and idk, there should be some Shirai Ryu members that are of equal rank to Hanzo, because pls man - don't you have any friends? Colleagues? Clanmates? Who you talk to on a daily basis ?(no not your blueberry bf) Why are you like this? Why are you sitting in the corner ruminating? The edge lord in yellow, what troubles you? Where are your friends. His close relationships are mostly vertical (clan leader - member/ father -son : Takeda/Fox/Satoshi) and only two are horizontal (Harumi/Kuai) and none of those horizontal ties depicts a "clanmate-mentality" to Hanzo. Kuai Liang at least has what? 5 clanmates of different ranks (Bi Han / Smoke, Sektor, Cyrax/Frost) to create tensions/interactions for his character depths - and thus making the entire Lin Kuei gang, not only KL, relatable, and also a good grounding way to make a character believable. Now, Which canon character is also a Shirai Ryu member, of equal rank to Hanzo, that he can socialize with (aside Harumi, who tips more to the romantic aspect and doesn't have that "brother in arm" feel) and through their interactions suggests how their clan works/what its hierarchy is/what is the underlying tension within the organization?/,in short, some grounding work for the fans to have a faint knowledge of how Shirai Ryu works and grows in interest to the clan? No one.
I try to create some Shirai Ryu ocs but damn it's hard because the clan is so vague . We have MK:Mythology focusing solely on the Lin Kuei already, i would dig a game that only focuses on the Shirai Ryu lore - and hell it doesn't have to be all about Hanzo, I just want to know wtf is that clan about to vouch for it.
Maybe I just obsess with clan hierarchy, lore and structures due to my old Warrior Cats obsession day but yeah, just a sliver of my thought about Shirai Ryu and Hanzo
(Ps: English is not my native language so bear with me the jumbled words)

ENDOPARASITIC? THAT HORROR GAME WHERE YOU PLAY AS A GUY WITH 3 OF HIS LIMBS GONE? THAT HAS CHARACTERS OTHER THAN ONE ARM GUY?
yes, and the existence of these three is the basis of nearly all of the endoparasitic fandom (used to be 5 or 6, now just me or maybe another person idk) if you scroll through the fandom tag (#esptc) you’ll see a few others, as well as the main tag, #endoparasitic. i’m gonna go over the existence of these characters in canon, starting with the main character:
CYNTE (one arm guy) CANON:
in the game, he is voiced by gianni matragrano, and we are shown a fair bit of his personality and motive which serves as a catalyst for the plot of the game. as far as we know, he’s got a bucketload of negative character traits, given that he is at least partially to blame for the events of the game. but he is shown as a very determined, ambitious and intelligent character. i strongly, strongly suggest you read the chat logs on the computers in endoparasitic which shows his dialogue and more of his personality, cuz despite his status as one armed protagonist guy, he does have depth which i commend nessa (the writer) for.
and now for the two other characters that are named and (semi) important to the plot. ill start with praví, who is lesser known character when put into comparison with luce and cynte. (i highly suggest you watch a lore video or something)
PRAVÍ CANON:
praví is only seen in a few chat logs and one cutscene (this also applies to luce), so VERY little canon. the things that we do have (where he’s not begging for his life) show him to be levelheaded, an efficient worker, and dare i say laid-back, at least in comparison to cynte. there is something to say about how he ignores luce often, maybe showing less of a concern to people below his station.
LUCE CANON:
she serves as the driving force for the plot, inviting the parasites into the lab and killing everyone because of the manipulation of the nautilus parasites saying that instead of her “”great, smarter, objectively better”” boss, she was chosen to host the parasites. ignored by praví, treated like a child by cynte, she is often portrayed as timid and sentimental, again in comparison to the other two characters. her spiraling into madness was “finding her strength” in a way, and at the end, it is shown that she thinks of cynte as worse than her even though she caused the mass infection, showing her to be just a bit naive and hypocritical.
again, i very strongly urge you to play through the game or check out a lore video if possible. thank you for letting me ramble 👍

Personally what’s your favourite trolls and least favourite? (Reasons why would also be really appreciated)
Personally I like Elwurd and Lynera the best for reasons that are definitely not related to projection. Least favorite is hard for me to pin down because I've spent so much time thinking about these folks and trying to expand on areas where they're less developed. I guess Vikare because he's pretty one-note. -Jonaya, director/lead writer
my hs og fave trolls have always been the meteor ones bc im tragically unoriginal but i don't have strong preferences for friendsim (wait i forgot i do love chixie) -Sollay, artist
Love me some clowns, I've always had an appreciation for unhinged characters, but my absolute favorites are Chahut and Karako. Least favorite… I dunno, there aren't really any that I dislike in FS? In Homestuck in general I took personal issue with the Zahhaks because this is not how I want Sagittarius to be represented WHY -Hal Elsen, voice actor
I like Elwurd, Daraya, Lanque, Mallek, Tagora, Polypa, and Skylla. I'm gay. Not a huge fan of Zebruh, but damn do I love voicing him, and also not a giant fan of like. Fozzer, idk why. I'm a bad VA so I haven't played the game yet. -CL, voice actor
If we're gonna go with Friendsim- Elwurd, Chixie, and Tyzias all appeal to my typical Character Likes. Chahut also appeals, but I feel Incredibly Conflicted About It because of my stance on purple characters in general also Polypa is my Secret Homegirl Now because I can't help but develop attachments to characters I've voiced X,D Tagora's smug aura mocks me and I don't care for it -Juniper, voice actor
As a cancellable offense i will still admit Zebruh still holds my thoughts on a gorilla grip because his route is absolutely hilarious despite his yikes. But Galekh is my baby boy baby and skylla is the queen i would give everything she ask me to. for fs2. Marsti because how can you not? i mean gestures then dies of gay. -Mikky, artist
specifically referring to their canon appearances and not fs2, our favorite is probably Chahut? She's got a lot going on, we like her design and her relationship with Amisia is very cute And uh - We… Don't really care for any of the ceruleans tbh (Wait, append that: mallek is cool he can stay - The rest of the ceruleans we dont care for)
As for fs2… Control in volume 11 is great we wish we could take credit for her The murder victim in volume 1 always felt kinda flat to us, like they're more of a plot point than an actual troll so they're our least favorite -Lorelei, writer
Favorite - i like mostly any trolls but also… tirona. Shes a lik freak. Least favorite - tirona. She is like scrappy doo of the homestuck universe. I want to throw here baby soft spot head towards a wall -Fable, artist
i'm not well versed in the ~lore~ but i like diemen's character lol no particular reason -Seth, voice actor
Favorites: all the members of Daraya's Punk Band (especially tyzias, no need to explain, I am her canon voice), plus tagora (he's the honorary 5th member) Least favorites: Vikare. He bores me. -Anna, writer/composer
Eridan has always been my personal favorite. I'd say my least favorite would be Karkat--I get he's set to be redeemed but the team did nothing with him except make him whiny and force vriska into leading everyone -Valentine, voice actor
hmm, well for favs theres Ardata, then Daraya and also Chixie or Elwurd. Partial to Chahut and Cirava bc they make me go :DD Least faves: Tirona and Zebede, just not my type of characters :/ -DDP, artist
amisia because he's pretty chill -The Dandy Man, voice actor
My favourites are xefros (because he's a good boy doing his very best) and cirava (because they're a fucking gremlin) -Alex, voice actor
hmmm we wanna say favorite hiveswap troll are either folykl or mallek, but really it's more of a rotating cast and whoever we thought about last is our fave. least favorite has to be zebede on the basis that we forgot he even existed. -Breeoche, artist
I will have to say Marvus is certainly my favorite ! I love his design but also his whole presence and attitude in his volume.
A least fav is harder because there is a number of trolls I don't "like" but they are such good characters that I still enjoy them a lot ! So I'll have to go with zebruh even if he is very entertaining as a bad guy xD -Herk, artist
Chiming in to say chixie is probably my favorite troll cause her struggles are relatable. Second place goes to Marvus cause he's pretty chill all things considered.
Least favorite is zebruh for because he's like THAT -Rainy, composer
Marvus! And I don’t have a least favorite cause I only really know the purple bloods and THEY ARE MY DARLINGS ALL OF them -Miranda, writer
I think Wanshi and Nepeta are my favorites for Cat Reasons, but also because I was a strange little catgirl before I was a boy and I appreciates them a lot. Zebruh seems like the obvious choice to dislike, but Ardata legit scares me and I am unsettled by ticks and leeches -Bucky, writer
I think this will be stupidly obvious but my favourite trolls are Terezi Stelsa and Tirona, basically just the ones I usually voice haha Terezi because I voice her and basically am her at this point honestly, and the other two are silly and dramatic and I love voicing them I also love Nepeta, Karkat, Aradia, and Tyzias Gamzee is my least favourite ever I hate him -Tex, voice actor

Someone on the subreddit made a possible fallen alts post and it legitimately has me question the entire fandom like - a majority of the choices are just "characters who sided against the main characters at some point", like the Birthright characters on Conquest and Conquest characters on Birthright. Like in what way does simply siding against the mc make a character "fallen" or "evil"?? Rhea on CF is also listed even though we have Fallen Rhea from SS!
I saw that one! Just speaking to the games I know I think a lot of them make sense, even if the justifications are just blatantly wrong. The 3H slide is probably the most "I was reaching" one to my eyes. The emblem versions of all the lords are also a biiiiiiit of a stretch until we see actual emblem alts of the characters, IMO.
For Houses/Hopes CF Rhea and AG Edelgard seem like a bit of a stretch just because they'd basically just be the same as their SS Rhea/AM Edelgard counterparts... like I don't see why they'd bother reusing them unless they were really hurting for options (and clearly they aren't, Fates alone could fill like six fallen banners by itself if they wanted).
Fallen!Byleth (not emblem) also seems like a stretch since they're apparently referencing exactly one thirty second cutscene where Sothis is temporarily in control of Byleth's body. Monica seems redundant since her "fallen" form is just Kronya and they've already done Kronya, and Jeritza as a fallen is like... that's just how he is all the time lol, unless there's something in SB that I'm missing. I've already bitched enough about how fallen Marianne is deeply ingrained fanon/headcanon with extremely minimal basis in actual canon.
From the 3H slide I think only Aelfric, Dedue, Miklan, and the Shezes really make sense as options. The former three all have clear human forms that they lose and turn into monsters, and Shez's Arval takeover only lasts for a chapter but I could reasonably see a "what if" scenario kind of like they did with the Corrins not getting their dragonstones.
The Fates slide is kind of "right church, wrong pew" in that most of the characters make sense, but as Heirs of Fate alternatives not BR/CQ alternatives. Every father character features in Heirs of Fate as an Anankos puppet so any of them could technically work for the theme. Similar deal with Mikoto, Arete, and Sumeragi, they all appear as Anankos puppets in Rev.
Gunter would also work, though he's almost definitely not going to be getting any sort of alt because of real world concerns (his JP VA died before FEH even released. All of his JP lines for his base form are recycled from Fates and because of the way Japan does voice acting, we can assume the character is retired from here on out unless they're willing to recycle more lines from Fates). Anakos would also be an obvious pick but IIRC he shared a VA with Gunther (at least partially, he might have had two different VAs one for the human and one for the dragon form or something so the circumstances might be slightly different for him). But I don't blame OP for not necessarily knowing that and they do fit the theme.
I'm not sure what they're referencing with Flora and Rhajat (it's been a hot minute since I replayed Fates) so I hesitate to say they wouldn't work, but idk. I think the only stretch there is Anthony just because no one is gonna pull for a random NPC child and IIRC he's just always like that, he never really "fell".
The Engage slide mostly makes sense actually. The only questionable one is the character who is brainwashed for like one chapter and then is literally fine, but I'm sure if they wind up being popular IS would be willing to do another "what if" type thing for them.
I think for Awakening the OP only pulled out Risen King!Chrom which... honestly I can definitely see. IS considers Cipher ideas fair game for these banners (e.g. F!Ike) and Chrom being a fairly popular main character is definitely going to be considered for a banner carry slot.
I definitely played SoV but only once in 2015 because I didn't like it that much and I literally don't remember enough of it to say if any of those options are bad picks lmao.

“To be Completely Honest” for the ask game :)
sry i forgot to answer last night TvT anyways 2 ideas
1: big cwilbur angsties, probably revivebur fic that starts with wilbur going on and on about how he actually isn't happy to be alive and he's filled with this deep sense of bitterness and jealousy, but like. over time he starts to Not feel like that anymore as he learns to be alive again and to try and find the good in everything because he knows he can't continue living the way he did before ig? the fic would probably span over some months so every time skip would start with, "to be completely honest [insert feeling he's having that he totally would not admit to having outloud]." so like if it started with "to be completely honest, wilbur was only glad to be revived because limbo had somehow been lonelier than having nobody care while he was alive." it would end with "to be completely honest, wilbur was starting to think that maybe he had never been alone to begin with." (these lines r bad but this ISNT A REAL FIC SO ITS OKAY!!!) there would probably be crimeboys and light tntduo stuff, maybe some sbi for my own sake. idk how canon compliant it would be tbh cause dsmp is like one of the things i rarely write canon compliant for but it would at least have elements of canon
2: ive been reading so much mellodramattic recently that this idea is what immediately came to mind...the brainrot is real ANYWAYS matt centric fic about him being so hopelessly in love with mello that it's actually erm. maybe not healthy at all. like total devotion, id kill for you, id die for you even though you clearly don't care for me the same. and like mello does also love him but it is not the same level of unwavering adoration to the point where it scares him because he doesn't want matt to follow him blindly into the literal life or death situations he goes into on a regular basis. it's like. matt loves mello more than he loves himself and mello cannot stand it because he DOES love him and hates that he has like zero self esteem and no self preservation especially because mello is kind of an asshole and also like. in the mafia and fucking with kira and pissing off the SPK at any given moment. they're not good for each other but also they're everything to each other ough
send me a made-up fic title and i'll tell you what i would write to go with it

seroroki is So Good im glad you agree. also hmm fuyumi and / or mina ?
(same anon. i think i should just sign off my asks or smth but idk what with)
based on how long it took me to answer the Sero+Kendo ask you are clearly the Patient Anon. THRILLED to see you back a third time!!
Todoroki Fuyumi
favorite thing about them: she is so soft and gentle! she teaches kids and that gentleness will serve her so well with them.
least favorite thing about them: she is complicit in Endeavor’s abuse, largely because she has only ever been a victim of his neglect. Still, she shouldn’t insist on defending him, even if I understand where she’s coming from.
favorite line: “Just because you understand something doesn’t mean you’ll accept it, right?” from chapter 189
brOTP: Fuyumi & Hawks! I just think they’d get along <3
OTP: Fuyumi/Miruko! I have seen this tag on some fanfic and it was just. top notch.
nOTP: Fuyumi/Izuku. Read a just straight up HORRIFYING fic where endeavor tried to arrange a marriage once the boy was a pro hero and. no. TEN YEAR AGE DIFFERENCE. also did you know the fastest way to discover nOPTS is to google “[character] ships” and go to the images tab. I’ve hurt myself.
random headcanon: When she decides she wants kids, she adopts!
unpopular opinion: I think that her seizing the chance to be a family again is understandable and not inherently bad. she shouldn’t defend endeavor, but the desire to have a whole and coherent family unit is strong and understandable, and people shouldn’t villainize her for it.
song i associate with them: Self Control by Bebe Rexha. this doesn’t match her character arc but it has vibes okay
favorite picture of them:
Tumblr media
Ashido Mina
favorite thing about them: She is so passionate about everything!
least favorite thing about them: her fashion sense 😔 pick ONE animal print bestie
favorite line: “This win doesn’t really say anything about my strength.” from chapter 30. I like that she acknowledges her own strengths and weaknesses.
brOTP: Ashido & Kirishima! They weren’t really friends in middle school, but they’ve built up a great friendship since then!
OTP: Ashido/Asui! There is no canon basis for this but I made it a background ship in my current fic outline and it is giving me BRAINWORMS. their vibes are off the charts.
nOTP: I haven’t really seen her shipped with anyone weird? So I’m defaulting to nOTP with Mineta. google images wasn’t even horrifying this time.
random headcanon: she used to practice breakdance in her family’s living room and kept getting in trouble for breaking things!
unpopular opinion: SHE IS A LOT SMARTER THAN PEOPLE GIVE HER CREDIT FOR!!! just because she doesn’t have BOOK smarts doesn’t mean she’s a total idiot!!
song i associate with them: Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
favorite picture of them:

Hi ! How do you envision Aria in Halfway Home ? I do believe you have mentioned she would be involved.
Hello, and thank you for the kind ask, it is absolutely helpful ;_;
So Aria. Aria's a complicated beast. I have a lot of thoughts about her. I kind of always enjoyed her potential more than her execution, as I've been known to have a soft spot for, what I call, Girlbosses Fucking Up. As in: women driven by scary, unhinged ambition that ends up destroying everything including themselves, and Aria could have fitted that description pretty well, or at least its first part (if there had been a proper attempt at character examination and development past her getting suddenly horny for Shepard and fawning over how much cooler and Dangerous than her they actually are or something idk).
So first, about my thoughts on Aria T'loak in canon:
I think Aria embodies a lot of Mass Effect's guilty-pleasure relationship to edge, and I completely believe she's been written first and foremost to be 1) cool, and 2) a sexual fantasy. The problem with that posture is that... basically any serious attempt at unpacking her politics risk ruining her pseudo-dominatrix vibes. So as a result, we get the most unquestioned, unashamed libertarian figure of the games, blaring that she's justified in her power position because she's the strongest, that because she's the strongest she's justified in commiting any kind of violence to hoard what she considers to be hers, and the fact she's basically an absolute despot is seen as something to be admired and even envied (no red tapes, no Council, nobody to answer to but herself and her whims).
To be noted: she's criticized in the vaguest way possible in the Omega DLC, but it has way more to do with the interpersonal, Nyreen and then a dominance struggle with Shepard, than with any of her concrete politics (and the dominance struggle is very... it's very much about "conquering" her and shoving yet another power fantasy down Shepard's throat --either by taming her fire or sharing it, and being called The Most Special Of All And I Never Met Anyone Like You Wooow You're Making Me So Hot And Bothered, and I'd argue it's still more about stroking the player's, hm, ego than about Aria herself). The "nooo don't kill civilians because surely there are any trace of civilians that aren't slavers, gang members or mercenaries left after like, two coups and a half" has nothing to say about the value of the life of said "civilians" despite their darkness, nothing to say about Aria's right to wage life and death over them. Even Nyreen's criticisms of Aria are... very un-Omegan. They still wager on Omega civilians being poor, unprepared babies, and to me it just doesn't ring true or meaningful in the slightest. But I made no effort ever hiding how much I don't vibe with this DLC, and its refusal to engage with Omega's themes to preserve Aria's sex appeal is one of the biggest culprits to me.
I also whinge about Aria in my critic of Mass Effect: Retribution, where I discover that she is actually quite dumb, and solves her problems with temper tantrums and half-assed decisions the narrative desesperatly tries to justify instead of being the savvy figure Mass Effect 2 tries to sell us (also her daughter is treated like a sexpot who immediately dies an awful, voyeuristic death and I doooon't love that choice, even if it's, once again, very telling on the kind of character Aria's supposed to be).
So now, I will stop whingeing about canon and talk about how I tried to reinterpret Aria T'loak in Halfway Home.
So Aria in HH is... kind of an awful, complicated person. I completely leaned in that Girlboss Fucking Up direction because nobody can stop me to explore some of the absurd tragedy behind her struggle for power. She is libertarian to a fault, at once believing in the importance of daring to bite what you can off a seemingly unchangeable and incredibly cruel social system, while failing to acknowledge that she's a central actor of said system, maintaining its alchemy with an iron fist with little concern for those who have to pay the price. While not nearly as conservative as them (socially, economically she's almost worse), I took inspiration from figures like Ayn Rand and Margaret Thatcher to flesh her out, especially in the way she turns against her own kind to keep her head out of the water (I mean at once asaris and sex workers, as I kept her backstory infiltrating Omega's ecosystem as an Afterlife dancer first). But by having this background, to garner respect, she has to be ruthless and consistently brilliant so she doesn't slip, because if she does... Well the fall will be rather brutal. She's acutely aware of the necessity of maintaining her prestige and her innaccessibility, while keeping herself desirable (as a potential ally and as an asari), because everyone wants to either kill her, be her or have her, and this is at once the basis of her power and an incredibly lonely and vulnerable position to have to voluntarily maintain yourself in.
Aria in Halfway Home does fucked up shit, or willingly allows or facilitates fucked up shit to maintain herself afloat (especially in her power plays with the Council, batarians and Cerberus). But she's been doing this dangerous dance for centuries, and she's starting to feel alienated from herself, from anticipating and catering to all sides at once. She also tends to keep opportunities open and let people live if they can be useful (à la Patriarch) rather than kill them, even if she cultivates her vicious reputation to prevent coups against her --basically keeping escape routes open as much as she can. As far as attitude goes, she follows more of her sarcastic/jaded side that is sometimes apparent in canon, and it's becoming clear how tired she is, how every single one of her desires have melted into what she needs to do to stay in power. She's the Pirate Queen, and in more ways than one the world is at her feet, yet everything she does is calculated to keep herself alive, at all time. And she can't stop now, because she's addicted to Omega and what it did to her, and if she stops she will be torn apart by everyone pretending to be on her side. In a way she's a prisonner of her own power, while also maintaining everyone else in the cell with her by force and pretending that... there is no alternative, if you can forgive my wording.
So yeah. Sarcastic, tired, brilliant, cynical. That's my Aria. She's the absolute worst, and yet she's a little tragic too. But by the end of the story, Shlee doesn't care about that part at all and will not shut the fuck up about how she should be deposed and is, in fact, the absolute worst, which, yeah, great thing to scream around Shlee, very smart.

Fanfic writer ask game: 16, 23, 35, 43 👀👀👀
16. Do you research for your fics? If so, how deep of a rabbit hole have you gone down by accident when researching?
I actually hate doing research...... but sometimes you gotta. Figure skating research is kinda fun but trying to find obscure Naruto facts on Narutopedia is the worst. How am I supposed to remember what happened in canon? That's too much to ask. But usually I don't write fics where I need to to research, just to avoid it lmao. I'm easily distracted but also very impatient so when I do research for fics I tend to stick to what I need, possibly I'm damaged from law school research style. But every time I go on Narutpedia I find out stuff I don't want to know, like being reminded of the fact that for some people canon didn't end after 699.
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
Hmm. Does slow burn count lol. Idk I like get-together fics with lots of yearning and tension haha, my favorite tropes to read are like, fake dating, arranged marriage and sports aus but when it comes to writing it's more about what I can do with the characters in the setting than any super specific trope, so I tend to go for simpler plots as a basis nowadays where I can focus on the relationship part. Depends on the fandom too. But best friends to lovers is a good one! Usually when I think of a new fic, I start with the characters and what I want them to go through and then I build the plot around that. But when I'm just imagining things as a daydream I might pick a trope and stick the characters in, sometimes I switch ship three times over the course of that kind of story because the characters have to fit the story and not the other way around.
35. How much has writing fic changed your life?
Oh, a lot. Met so many people through writing that I wouldn't have met otherwise. Also, I loved writing before I discovered fanfiction, but I wasn't really doing anything with it. Writing fic was the perfect way to channel my creative side. As well as feeding my constant urge to share the stupidest ideas I can think of (and then accidentally turn them serious).
43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
I think most of my experience has been positive, but my memory is crap so I can't think of anything specific. Sometimes I really miss the Naruto days before the ending hit us, because it was just fun and simple and fandom in itself was easier to navigate. Everyone was just so nice, and then we all kind of struggled after the ending. I don't think I'm as active in the fanfic community nowadays, although I'm getting better here on tumblr. There were a couple of years where I had lots of free time and could just write without worrying (much at least) about quality or all this anti stuff that's going on now. It's not bad now or anything, I'm having lots of fun, but I'm feeling a bit nostalgic about the past haha! Back then we all called Sasuke 'the raven' and used words like pinkette and it's interesting to think sometimes how quickly things can go from established standard to looking at your own writing and going "oh god i can't believe i wrote like that" lol. So many of my favorite fics back then would be called super problematic by certain people now... but nowadays I just want to read about adults barely keeping their shit together and falling in love with someone despite their supposedly good judgement :3

Headcanons for Michael, please?
hMMMM- Gonna be honest, I haven’t given neaaar enough consideration to Michael ASHODAOISHD, I will do my best with this-
By the way, a lot of these headcanons were made in collaboration with friends so like, these are by no means Bovine Originals TM-  I’m gonna tag som people but if someone gets tagged who did not wa n t to be tagged I will take it out and I am sowwy if this happens
What I think realistically:
In between episodes, missions still go on (this has been confirmed by canon at least once I think?), but the missions are a whole lot more casual.  A lot of times, it’s more like a glorified road trip than an actual mission, and this is where Peak Bonding Time with Michael and Kitt happens.  As long as Michael’s not spending the whole time playing Atari, anyway... They wind up playing a lot of games that Kitt rigs with Hax (c’mon now that can’t not be how he swept the floor with Michael at blackjack of all things) which Michael somehow doesn’t catch on to, and they end up at a looot of drive-thrus, much to Kitt’s chagrin.
What I think is hilarious:
Pretty much all of these were made with @trust-doesnt-oxidize, we stan they-
Michael really, really loves his burgers okay?  Like, so much.  Like SO much that if he doesn’t think he’ll be able to go to a drive-thru for a while, he’ll just.  Store one in the glove compartment.  Kitt hates this SO BADLY-  Michael will willingly eat week old food from his glove compartment and it reaches a point where Kitt has to stop him for sanitary reasons.  Perhaps Bonnie occasionally finds one of these highly expired treasures during repairs and loses her mind.
But also our mans is a human garbage disposal, so he’ll eat anything you put in front of him.  He is very not picky, but if he has an option he will choose That Option.
Also Michael continually forgetting that Kitt has access to his own programming and betting him to beat his high score on Atari games,,,
  Michael continually losing said bets.
What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends:
Honestly I don’t think I can ever beat the novelization’s tragic backstory, seriously I refuse to believe that what the heck-
I was talking with @solarcitymelodies and they mentioned Michael being emotionally repressed as a product of the time (and likely his history in the military), which is why he has a very difficult time being emotionally vulnerable.  He plays off everything as a joke, and what he can’t do that for, he likes to project (think “Trust Doesn’t Rust,” where he repeatedly just Told Kitt yOu FeEl NeRvOuS tOo RoIt?! and Kitt’s like ???no??? and Michael’s like uwu I totally get you buddy it’s okay to be scared and Kitt’s like Literally What-).  That one def hurts, and I think it’s real accurate.  Our mans doesn’t think he can be emotionally vulnerable because he’s gotta be Strong Tough Boi and like Michael stop nobody takes you seriously anyway <3
Another one that I love to toy around with is just,,, Michael seems very confused about what the heck Kitt i s.  Like, sometimes he treats Kitt like a robot who just happens to talk, sometimes he treats him like a friend, sometimes he acknowledges Kitt’s feelings, sometimes he doesn’t-- It’s likely a product of inconsistent writing from different teams since Michael’s character was actually progressing quite naturally throughout Season 2 until Season 3 decided to destroy our hopes and dreams. Sniffles.  But like, I feel like he wants Kitt to be a person and a friend, but until he can get himself to really believe it, he can’t really,,, act on it I guess?  It seems like he’s catching on by Season 2, but, once again, Season 3 is evil and hates me.  I like to think that, once the series ended, at sooome point, he’d come to a more confident realization about Kitt, and it’s then that he’d realize Kitt’s own insecurities as a result of being confused about what he himself is based on how others treated him.  And he’d feel at least somewhat responsible for that, so yeah.
What would never work with canon but canon is Stinky Poopoo so I believe it anyway:
Michael realizes that smacking the dashboard as hard as humanly possible is actually abuse, and he stops doing that.
Haha jk that’s too crazy even for this.
This one’s the hardest for me because Michael is such a spazz that nothing feels too OOC for him, so this is more going to be an explanation for why something I love to think, and I think most of the fandom loves to think,,, can’t be canon.  I’m sorry.
Whether it’s after the events of Knight Rider or Knight Rider 2000 *gAGS*, Michael eventually has to permanently retire from FLAG because, y’know.  Aging exists.  And I would love to think that Michael is able to take Kitt with him to live this very calm and “normal” stretch of life, where their friendship can grow and they can be buds.
The issue is idk if this can ha pp e n .
And no, I don’t mean because Shawn happened in KR2000, I literally give zero hoots about what that movie wanted us to think.  The only thing I take from that movie is Kitt’s temporary deactivation for finance reasons, but anyway...
I just feel like FLAG couldn’t afford to DO that.  I mean, it was actually pretty clever that the events of KR2000 were kicked off by FLAG running out of funds because, really, that was going to happen eventually.  In the original series, it seems like Wilton left behind an infinite supply of money based on what Michael is able to do and whatnot, but unless Wilton was the richest man in existence ever, that’s not the case.  Devon still has to host fundraisers for charity reasons, and it’s still highly discouraged that Michael causes as much property damage as he does on a regular basis, because that all comes out of the Foundation’s wallet.  Eventually, that’s going to run out if donations don’t match what Wilton had.  And while repairing a building costs a lot of money, something costs a lot more money than that, and that is the vehicle itself.  I can’t tell whether more money went into the microchips or the cars themselves, all I know is that they cost a LOT of money, like I want to say Kitt was 16 million?  Karr was even more expensive at 20-something million I- I don’t know my lore well enough okAyyyyy- It was a bad enough blow to lose Karr, but FLAG viewed that as a necessary loss which it wasn’t imo but AnYwaY.  Kitt is currently programmed to Michael, but I feel like that would be easy enough to change.  It wouldn’t erase his emotional bond to Michael since I think most of that was Kitt’s own feelings over his programming, but it would allow FLAG to utilize their investment for even longer.
I could see the show taking the happy ending where they’re able to continue to exist together, and any stories of mine will definitely take the happy ending, but it’s not actually very realistic with canon.  Maybe, if Kitt’s programming became outdated or the Knight 2000 was too expensive to keep in good repair, then it could happen?  Idk, lemme know what you think about this one!

ok as promised here's my whole thedosian astrology spiral in one big post
underneath a read more bc i love you all
starting w my tags from the first post bc context:
#bc i saw a post that put the zodiac seasons (for thedas) roughly from the 20th of one month to the 20th of the next #like it is irl #but the zodiac seasons coincide w the actual seasons #the start of aries season is the vernal equinox #the start of cancer season is the summer solstice #the start of libra season is the autumnal equinox #the start of capricorn season is the winter solstice #and (to my knowledge??) the seasons in thedas start with their annum holidays or whatever #wintersend = beginning of spring #summerday = beginning of summer #all souls day = beginning of fall #satinalia = beginning of winter #(someone PLEASE correct me if im wrong on that) #well i know summerday and satinalia are right but #ANYWAY #using that logic the zodiac seasons would also start on those days #thedas-aries season would run from the 1st to the 30th of guardian #thedas-taurus would be 1-30 drakonis #thedas-gemini would be 1-30 cloudreach #so that thedas-cancer aka the start of summer aka summerday aka THE FIRST OF BLOOMINGTIDE #kSLFdfslkdFDKs #anyway. now i have to be Right about this#my previous hyperfixation and my current one.....coming together....to make me into a Massive Bitch<3
when would the zodiac signs' seasons take place in the thedosian calendar?
so bc the zodiac signs are based on constellations and all the lore etc that accompanies them i'm not even gonna touch that (YET.....yet...) but since spring, summer, autumn, and winter start on the first days of guardian, bloomingtide, august, and firstfall, respectively, so would those particular seasons of the zodiac
thedas-equivalent-of-aries season would just be 1-30 guardian, bc irl the beginning of aries season coincides with the beginning of spring and continues until the sun moves into taurus; all the cardinal signs (aries, cancer, libra, capricorn) begin on the first of the season like that, so we can assume that – IF there are 12 zodiac signs in thedas – the sun is in each sign for approximately a month. so that in 3 months the next cardinal sign can coincide w the beginning of that season
imo it makes sense that (if we're assuming thedas also has 12 signs and that their sun spends roughly equal time in all of them) four of them would coincide w the beginning of the seasons. so like yeah thedas is fake and for all we know they have 10 zodiac signs and they all start on wildly different days, but then everything is just shooting in the dark and where's the fun in that. obviously the changing of the seasons is important to them bc their holidays center around them, therefore i don't think it's wildly out of the blue to think that whatever star sign system they have going on would similarly coincide w the changing seasons
again i'm not currently bothering with picking constellations/symbols/stories/traits/etc for each sign so i'll just say first, second, third etc. point being the seasons of the zodiac would actually be like they are below, rather than how they are irl (aka the 20th-ish of each month to the 20th-ish of the next; it's like that irl bc our calendar is stupid and the beginning of the seasons randomly happens 2/3 of the way thru the month):
first sign = begins spring, 1-30 guardian
second sign ≈ 1-30 drakonis
third sign ≈ 1-30 cloudreach
fourth sign = begins summer, 1-30 bloomingtide
fifth sign ≈ 1-30 justinian
sixth sign ≈ 1-30 solace
seventh sign = begins autumn, 1-30 august
eighth sign ≈ 1-30 kingsway
ninth sign ≈ 1-30 harvestmere
tenth sign = begins winter, 1-30 firstfall
eleventh sign ≈ 1-30 haring
twelfth sign ≈ 1-30 wintermarch
okay so we have cardinal signs, what about fixed and mutable signs?
the cardinal signs are CALLED the cardinal signs bc they begin the seasons; they're the ~get up and goers~ of the zodiac, motivated, leaders, trail blazers, energetic, etc. they litchrally bring in the changes of the season so that makes sense right
so IF we are to continue w that logic — and here's where i'm getting (even more) conjecture-y, but i feel p confident that since 4 of the 5 major holidays in thedas are based on the changing seasons aka thats important — then the traits of the thedas-equivalent of those signs would also have similarities to the irl cardinal signs (namely the traits listed above)
but there are also FIXED signs and MUTABLE signs: so called bc fixed signs are firmly planted in the middle of each season (taurus in spring, leo in summer, scorpio in autumn, aquarius in winter) and bc mutable signs precede the major change from one season to the next (gemini from spring to summer, virgo from summer to autumn, sagittarius from autumn to winter, pisces from winter-to-spring)
and again bc these are based on the seasons, it also makes sense to me that, generally speaking, the signs in the middle and at the end of the seasons would also be distinct in some way. and probably have similarities to irl fixed and mutable signs, tho i'm not as obstinate about that as i am abt the cardinal signs. but anyway MOVING ON
[the one section with the fan-made sky map ended up being relatively useless even tho the sky map was in fact very cool]
general disclaimer that at this point i’m literally just. straight up guessing lmao
also since we only have so many constellations we see in-game, and since they each come with a codex giving us at least a little background info (aka CRUMBS), any suggestions of which constellations are part of the zodiac are based on those specifically. obviously in real life theres a bazillion constellations that aren’t part of the zodiac, but we do not have the luxury of knowing every constellation in thedas so i am going with what we got
the thedosian constellation map (the canon one) is different than the fan-made sky map, but because i highly doubt anyone at bioware could’ve predicted someone would be As Insane As I Am Being Right Now about it, i don’t think they probably put a lot of thought into making it lmao. the fan made sky map DID have thought put into it tho, and it actually features the constellations we see in-game, so i’m going w that one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
AND. i’m gonna look at the names of the months (both the fancy ancient tevinter names and the ~low/common~ names) in comparison w the constellations we have at our disposal bc why the fuck wouldn’t they be related in some way. this has no basis in any deeper logic than “maybe the fact that the ‘common’ name for this month is drakonis has somethinng to do with the constellation draconis idfk” but like. it’s literally the same name but with one letter (that makes the same sound) changed. i don’t think i’m asking too much here lmao
signs that start the seasons
wintersend is canonically associated with the old god urthemiel; the codex entry for the constellation bellitanus states it (is believed that it) was originally associated with urthemiel. using the same reasoning as with satinalis/satinalia, i’m gonna assume that bellitanus-as-a-zodiac-season would start with wintersend and last through the whole of guardian
summerday was once called andoralis, dedicated to the old god andoral; the codex entry for the constellation servani states it is thought to be representative of andoral, but where the wiki says andoral is the god of unity, the codex says andoral was the god of slaves. (doesn’t clarify if andoral is like, a figure to which the enslaved would turn to in their plight, as like a savior? or whether andoral is...just associated with slaves in some way.) i have no idea what the fuck to do w that except assume bioware is back on their bullshit! i’m gonna come back to this later
all soul’s day was once funalis, dedicated to dumat, old god of silence; the codex entry for the constellation silentir (which literally means ‘silence’ lmao) is usually said to represent dumat. so by this logic we might say the zodiac season for silentir begins with all soul’s day and ends with the last day of august
the constellation satinalis is canonically associated with satinalia, so it makes sense to me that if satinalis is part of the zodiac, its season would start with satinalia / last through the month in which the holiday takes place. aka firstfall
with these in mind, we have (tentatively) 3 of our 4 cardinal signs aka the signs that begin the seasons: bellitanus for spring, silentir for autumn, and satinalis for winter
looking at the fan-made sky map, these aren’t super evenly spaced apart (but then again neither are irl constellations perfectly proportioned so whatever!) HOWEVER. they do still, at least vaguely 😭, follow a clockwise pattern in the correct order of guardian/spring → summerday/bloomingtide → all soul’s day/august → satinalia/firstfall. it’s about the small victories ok *inquisitor ameridan voice* take moments of happiness where you find them or whatever
what about the other 8 signs???
great question!!! haha!!!
✨I Am Once Again About To Start Guessing Wildly✨
because even tho the “cardinal signs” go clockwise and in order, there’s still an uneven amount of constellations BETWEEN them. there should be 2 between each but, for example, silentir and satinalis only have tenebrium between them. and there are fucking....TEN constellations between satinalis and bellitanus so we’re going to have to get even more creative somehow<3 lmao these are all taken from the codex entries for the constellations (the names are links!)
TOTH: tevinter old god of fire, thats p much it. the codex does say sometimes toth is depicted as a “flaming orb” which maybe i truly have succumbed to the brain worms but i hear ‘orb’ and ‘god’ and ‘flame’ (aka light/energy/etc or perhaps idk a fucking explosion) and yall already know where my dumb ass is going w that 🥴
since the rules are made up and the points dont matter, i have decided Fuck Bioware, toth is going with summerday now. i dont give a rats ass about andoral since apparently they dont care to tell us what he was actually god of, so welcome toth you are now in charge of the beginning of summer bc i said so
TENEBRIUM: associated with lusacan, tevinter old god of darkess/night. also obvious associations with falon’din, elven god of death, whose sacred animal is an owl
pea brain analysis: its dark in winter lol; slightly larger, maybe lima-bean-sized brain analysis: the beginning of a new year (aka first day aka first of wintermarch) could hypothetically be associated w the past ‘dying.’ and also the holiday was originally an annual check to make sure everyone was alive, so i don’t see why gods of death can’t be associated w making sure all your loved ones weren’t taken by said god of death lol
ELUVIA: commonly called “sacrifice,” it’s (apparently) based on an orlesian tale in which a woman is saved from a “””lustful mage””” (i love bioware i love this frachise) by being placed in the sky and becoming a constellation. before this inspiring tale that is definitely not anti mage propaganda, eluvia may have represented razikale, tevinter old god of mystery. the imagery of this constellation is a seated woman with a cloud right above her - literally like her head is in the clouds (also bc it sounds like ‘eluvian’ i’m like 👀)
i’m inclined to pair this one up with cloudreach both bc the ancient tevinter name is “eluviesta” and bc the woman in the story is literally. in the clouds. simple enough
PERAQUIALUS: it’s a boat! but apparently a “primitive vessel” sailed by ancient peoples like the neromenians. according to the codex the translation is usually ‘across the sea’ rather than ‘boat’ but that doesnt rly help me lol
sorry my beloved. before me stand 10 beautiful constellations but i only have 9 pictures in my hands. you are not thedas’s next top zodiac sign
DRACONIS: obviously its a dragon lol
i think the drakonis (the month) / draconis (this constellation) correlation is. pretty evident lmao and since we have all but thrown credible hypothesizing out the window, why NOT?? why not make drakonis the season of draconis!!! 🤡
FERVENIAL: an oak; some believe it could be representative of andruil, elven goddess of the hunt, as the vir tanadhal (“way of the three trees”) is her whole thing
sigh idk *spins wheel* leaves start changing color in mid-late autumn so *spins wheel again* fervenial can go with harvestmere which is thedas-october it’s fine
JUDEX: a big ol sword, sometimes called the “sword of mercy,” referring to pre-andrastian concepts of justice in ancient tevinter
speaking of pulling ideas right out of my ass, if this constellation is associated w justice it makes sense to me that its season would be in the month of justinian. bc again why the fuck not!
EQUINOR: the stallion / a horse, sometimes depicted as a seated griffon. some speculate the original imagery was a halla, linking the constellation to the elven god ghilan’nain aka “mother of the halla”
i am really grasping at straws here HAHA but the word haring (as a gerund/present participle of the verb ‘hare’) can mean to run or go with great speed. horses go fast, ghilan’nain is invoked when elves want to travel quickly, blah blah blah. whatever
SOLIUM: the sun; one interpretation is that it indicates an ancient fascination with ALL objects in the sky (aka both the sun and moon[s]), another interpretation associates it with the elven god elgar’nan, aka “eldest of the sun”
alright i know the name ‘solas’ means pride in elvhen and the word ‘solace’ means like comfort/consolation, neither of which have jack shit to do with the sun, so i shouldn’t assume solis is associated with solium exclusively bc they start with ‘sol’ and sol means sun in...a lot of irl languages lol HOWEVER. i have an even worse reasoning we can fall back on which is that it’s in summer and it’s...fucking sunny??? LMAO im so sorry
FENRIR: the white wolf 👁👄👁 scholars apparently dont know wtf to do w this one; obviously there is a case to be made about its association with fen’harel
i have talked myself in circles on this one but whenever i try to type it out it makes Zero Fucking Sense lmao so. i may come back and edit this but for now just know it’s going with kingsway and i want yall to know i do have some stupid nebulous reasoning for that in my silly little brain but communicating it is simply not in the cards for me today god bless 🙏
alright so what bullshit have you proposed at the end of all this EXTREMELY shaky guesswork, queen?
HERE YOU GO I GUESS
Bellitanus: begins spring, 1-30 Guardian
Draconis: 1-30 Drakonis
Eluvia: 1-30 Cloudreach
Toth: begins summer, 1-30 Bloomingtide
Judex: 1-30 Justinian
Solium: 1-30 Solace
Silentir: begins autumn, 1-30 August
Fenrir: 1-30 Kingsway
Fervenial: 1-30 Harvestmere
Satinalis: begins winter, 1-30 Firstfall
Equinor: 1-30 Haring
Tenebrium: 1-30 Wintermarch
next time i have a death wish i will come back and speculate what kind of traits would be associated w these signs (based on the ~lore~ surrounding the constellations, their tentative places as cardinal/fixed/mutable, etc) but i just wasted precious hours of my life on this and i cant look at it anymore!!!
also want to reiterate that, regarding the post i saw earlier that i disagreed with, my refutation of that argument ended like 2 reblogs many sections ago lol. the only thing i feel confident defending is that the different seasons of the zodiac would – based on the actual changing 4 seasons – start on the first of each month and end on the last day of each month, as opposed to the way it is in real life western astrology
all this other bullshit is just for fun (??? i guess????) and based ALMOST entirely on my own assumptions. informed by actual shit from the games ofc but mainly me just
Tumblr media
EDIT: would like to add that i don't have world of thedas or any other supplementary shit; all i have at my disposal is the 3 games, their DLCs, and the wiki lol. so if there's anything here that WOT (or smth else) contradicts please lmk! and also sorry for any typos lmao
hope yall enjoyed witnessing this fully unhinged moment w me bye<3

Fire Emblem: Nationality Adjectives
Okay, okay, so, I really should have done this before getting 50 chapters into a massive 3H fic, but instead I just did what felt right and struggled around ever using an adjective for Brigid people/things because, uh... I couldn’t figure it out. Hence doing the work now.
Anyway, quick preamble for clarity’s sake, nationality adjectives are just the adjectives used to refer to something or someone from a certain place. Id est, French is to France, Japanese is to Japan, or even more broadly, European is to Europe.
For use in fanfic, I’m attempting, mostly by looking at official real-world nationality adjectives (in my language, ofc) to figure out the correct* form the adjective (and noun!) would take for regions within the world of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
*By correct, I mean the options that don’t sound horrible.
Please add your two cents, if you have any. Please. I’m actually begging. Anyway, under the read more because idk how long this is going to get.
Let’s start with the obvious. Some are canon within the game’s world, and thus whether real-world conventions apply or not doesn’t matter. So here’s the small list of Location : Adjective : Noun* in canon that I can come up with off the top of my head.
*A missing noun denotes that the noun is the same as the adjective.
Note: When I say “in canon” I mean it’s used to refer to at least one of the adjective/noun. With one exception, I don’t believe many will argue that they make sense as both, so I simply treat them as both. (Mostly because I can’t be bothered to comb through the entire game’s script picking out where what is used as nouns or adjectives.)
Abyss : Abyssian Adrestia : Adrestian Agartha : Agarthan Almyra : Almyran Dagda : Dagdan (also the name of their language) Duscur : ??? : Duscur Nabatea : Nabatean
Duscur, the only “non-standard” one, can also probably be used as the adjective, but all canon instances I managed to find in Dedue’s support logs were used as the noun. I would be happy to use Duscur as an adjective, and thus won’t explore it here, but I’m fully ready to accept arguments against it.
In a similar vein, but not quite as versatile as proper nationality adjectives, both the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Leicester Alliance, to my memory, exclusively use “Kingdom” and “Alliance” in sentences where the possessive is necessary. (i.e. Fhirdiad, the Kingdom capital)
Now, let’s try to make some proper adjectives for both Faerghus and Leicester, as well as Brigid, Albinea, Morfis, Sreng, and Fódlan.
Note: If any of those locations have canon adjectives/nouns, please let me know! Also if I’m missing any locations.
(I know small-scale locations like cities/territories within each state also don’t have adjectives, but no one canonically seems to be very patriotic on that scale and identify with the broader term instead, so I’m not concerned with those. Feel free to add them if you want, though!)
The only super obvious one is Albinea : Albinean, and I’m pretty confident that no one will contest that even without diving in to real-world examples to compare what form the adjective should take.
From there, we’ll start with the most relevant and go outwards. Starting with Fódlan.
Note: I’m using this resource for the right adjectives/nouns for nationalities, so if I make a sweeping statement like “no country” or something of the like, what I’m referring to is specifically what is contained within that list.
Fódlan:
In-game, Dedue actually says, “...because I was unfamiliar with Fódlan speech.” Which surprisingly doesn’t tell us the name of Fódlan’s language, but rather says that “Fódlan” is the (or a) canon adjective.
That gives us Fódlan : Fódlan : ??? (Fódlan? In the same form as Duscur, perhaps.)
That said, I just... don’t really prefer it. So I’m looking for alternatives. My preferred form? Iceland. Iceland : Icelandic : Icelander, giving us Fódlan : Fódlandic : Fódlander. Now, Fódlan obviously doesn’t end with a “-d” but also, while many countries/regions end with “-an” none end with “-lan” and I, personally, just like the sound of Fódlander, even as the adjective. In fact, within my own in-progress fic right now, I currently have it as simply Fódlan : Fódlander, with no difference between the adj. and noun.
Looking at examples with “-an” endings to their region, we have Iran : Iranian, Japan : Japanese, or Pakistan : Pakistani to give us either Fódlanian, Fódlanese, or Fódlani. I’ve seen the latter two in fics before, but of the set prefer Fódlani myself.
And just for fun, most “-land” regions actually don’t use the “-lander” ending. Iceland is special that way, presumably because they didn’t want to call themselves Ices. Instead, it’s in the form of Poland : Polish : Pole, which, if we apply to Fódlan, would give us Fódlan : Fódlish : Fód which I would never dream of actually using, but does make me laugh.
Conclusion: This section is just my personal best options, in no particular order, laid out in a less cluttered format.
Fódlan : Fódlani Fódlan : Fódlandic : Fódlander Fódlan : Fódlander (No real-world basis, I just like it this way.)
Faerghus:
To my knowledge, the only countries that end in “-s” at all are Belarus and Honduras, so let’s just use those, and throw in Paris for fun. This will be shorter because we just don’t have much to work with, and I think the “best” form is a lot easier to agree on, anyway.
So, first option, Belarus : Belarusian which gives us Faerghus : Farghusian. Which works. There’s nothing wrong with it. But I’m not a big fan just because I prefer the next option so much more.
Interestingly, this is one I’ve seen in fanfic before, so it’s something currently in use by the community, at least to some extent. That is, Honduras : Honduran giving us Faerghus : Faerghan. Something about Faerghan just sounds right to my (American) ear, and again, I’ve seen it used in fanfic before. Honestly, it sounds so right that I’m not entirely convinced it’s not actual canon, but I also can’t recall it actually being used in canon, so... eh.
Conclusion: Just use Faerghus : Faerghan, it’s not that hard a conclusion to reach tbh. Unless you just like something else, I guess.
Leicester:
This is a problem for the simple fact that while there is an actual county in Britain called Leicestershire (and one called Gloucestershire), unless the British are a lot different from us Americans and they aren’t putting this information online, no one actually identifies anything by county.
Combined with the fact that the only countries that end in “-r” are Equador, El Salvador, and Madagascar, and I’m pretty sure any accurate comparison would need at least the “-ter” ending, this is going to be mostly just making up what feels right to me.
But for science, let’s go ahead and use those three for their conventions anyway, shall we?
Equador : Equadorian would give us Leicester : Leicesterian. Then we have El Salvador : Salvadoran to give us the slightly sillier Leicesteran. (I cannot not hear Listerine, lol.)
Alternatively, and this is a bold move, we could use Madagascar : Madagasy, which I frankly do not even know how to translate to Leicester because that form just doesn’t work with anything lacking the “-scar” ending, and I’m trying to compare them based on the “-r” alone. Still, I suppose with some finagling we can come to Leicester : Leicesy, or somewhat more sensibly Leicesty which is... surprisingly not horrible, but a zesty choice nonetheless.
On a more serious note, I’ve been using Leicester : Leicester : Leicesterman/woman because it’s just about the only thing I’ve thought of that doesn’t sound remarkably silly.
Conclusion: Use Leicester : Leicester : Leicesterman/woman.
(Or, if you want to meme the Golden Deer, Leicester : Leicesty. I am not recommending this.)
Brigid:
Ah, the reason I’m doing this work in the first place. I really should have done this before the Brigid arc in my fic but alas, here we are, doing this while I’m literally on the last chapter of it.
Anyway, since this list I have of real-world nationalities only has a single country ending in “-d” that doesn’t end in “-land” we’re going to just have to work with what we have.
The one example I have to work with? Chad. That gives us Chad : Chadian applied to Brigid is Brigid : Brigidian.
Which feels like something I’ve seen in fic before, but I can’t say with certainty. Now that I’m looking at that in the face, though, I want to posit for review the alternative Brigid : Brigidan, mostly just because that “-idi-” feels weird to me.
(Now I feel kind of silly. It’s really quite simple, isn’t it? I spent so long trying to figure this one out, positive that I’d find a better option, but... nah. Brigidan works, I think. Ironically, when I was looking through earlier chapters in my draft, I noticed that I had actually already used Brigidan in my story, despite me going so far out of my way to avoid using an adjective at all in my Brigid arc because I straight up forgot. F me, I guess.)
Conclusion: Use Brigid : Brigidan or Brigid : Brigidian, depending on your feelings about the letter I.
Sreng:
Another odd one, because there’s no good comparison, even in the vaguest sense. So, instead of doing comparisons to real places this time, I’m just going to throw a few of the common endings at it and see what sticks.
Sreng : Srengan/Srengian - Gives me fantasy name vibes, which I guess it is, but not location name vibes, and certainly not location adjective vibes, if that makes any sort of sense.
Sreng : Srengish : Sren??? - This is clearly reaching. And no, I will not even entertain Sren(g)man/woman.
Sreng : Srengi - I feel like I’ve seen this in fic before but cannot say for sure. Point being, though, it feels like something that reasonable people would say with their mouths, so it gets a full 5 stars from me.
Conclusion: Sreng : Srengi is the only viable option. Fight me.
Morfis:
Because Morfis doesn’t appear in my own fic, I have given this zero thought ahead of time. Also, I was 100% convinced - like, turned on my Switch and checked the actual game to be sure - that Morfis was spelled Morphis. Nope, it’s an f. Anyway, let’s gooo!
I guess the logical starting point would be the same place we went with Faerghus, with either Morfis : Morfisian or Morfis : Morfan but unlike Faerghus, Morfis actually already has that “I” there, so I think the alternative Morfian sounds a bit better.
Plus, Professor Byleth has already fished up half the pond’s population. We don’t need more fin.
Conclusion: Fish are friends. Morfis : Morfian

2. Does your OC collect anything? What do they collect?
Nah, Silence Agenda isn’t generally the type of place that encourages lots of material possessions. She’s not sentimental.
3. What kind of things is your OC allergic to?
She had a gluten allergy I decided at one point I think?? But then I kinda forgot about that, so not sure if that’s still a thing. But other than that, she’s pretty lucky in the allergy department (at least when it comes to like... animals and plants and such)
5. What is your OC’s first memory?
okay I KNEW I’d already answered this one in another ask game (wait it was totally from the same one lololol oh well), so i found my old answer from it, here it is: her first few memories mostly involve playing alone in her room or exploring her house. since her parents were so distant when she was growing up, even her first memories don’t revolve around them at all
7. What element would your OC be?
My first instinct was to say fire, so we’ll go with fire
11. What are your OC’s hobbies?
She doesn’t exactly have time for hobbies. But if she did... singing, and acting/theatre would be the main ones.
13. What is your OC’s gender / sexuality / race / species / etc.?
Cis woman, heterosexual, aromantic, white, human
17. How do they make a living? What kind of job do they want / not want? What is their dream job? What do they think of their current job?
Oh you know. Murder. Her job is a hitman so... that’s... that. She doesn’t think much about it, she figures she can’t really be picky since it’s something, and it got her away from her parents and the life she hated. Her dream job though, would be an Broadway actress.
19. What kind of music do they listen to? Do they have a favorite song?
Lots of stuff, mostly female artists, pop, some country (but like... the slappin country like “I DUG MY KEYS INTO THE SIDE OF HIS PRETTY LITTLE SOUPED UP FOUR WHEEL DRIVE” or like... Miranda Lambert shit. If pressed for her favorite song, she’d probably just say the entirety of Taylor Swift’s Reputation.
23. What is a random fact about your OC?
She’s left-handed! She is also an incredible singer! (soprano, has a real nice belt)
29. If they could choose their epitaph for their grave, what would they choose?
she wouldn’t care tbh. In Silence Agenda, when you die, there’s no real assurance of a grave at all, so it’s not something that’s ever crossed her mind, even though she faces death all the time.
31. What is their most traumatic memory/experience? What is their favorite memory?
Oh man.... So much, unfortunately. Probably when her parents were killed, and then SHE was nearly killed by Stefan the first time. Or possibly when she was shot in the arm, and nearly bled to death. Sorry, slight spoilers. FAVORITE memory... up to the end of the first book, not much that I can really think of, except maybe when she cut her hair, which was very freeing for her. But in the sequel, I’m planning a scene where Nyx cooks for her, while she’s staying with them and Avery, and it’s the first time she’s had a home cooked meal pretty much ever, and she feels wanted and cared for genuinely for the first time in her life, and it’s... it’s good. It’s tender.
37. What’s something that your character does, that other people don’t normally do?
I mean.... kill people on a regular basis? Or like... on a smaller scale, I can’t think of anything in particular. She talks to herself a bit, but I think a lot of people do. Only when she’s alone though.
41. What does your character do when they’re angry? Why?
She lashes out, both verbally and physically, depending on the situation. She wants to gain control over a situation, so she does what she can to feel in control, which usually means lashing out. She hates most people, but her anger usually really stems from being angry at herself for not measuring up to her own expectations for herself.
43. What was the most offensive thing your character has ever said?
She’s said a lot of offensive shit in her life asdoifhasdoifhadsoih. In canon, she’s rude a lot of the time, but as far as like... actually offensive stuff? Idk, I think a lot of offensive stuff though is said out of ignorance and being very out of touch with reality due to growing up rich and privileged. Maybe when she told Nyx that they deserved to be homeless. That was. Not great.
47. Can your character draw? What do they like to draw? Do they doodle?
Lol, nope, not at all, and she doesn’t really doodle much either. She’s musically inclined, but not artistically

Okay so I made this post last night about how the FNAF series is taking on a new story now. Talked about how the dead children was story 1 and that was closed off and concluded in pizzeria sim yadda yadda.
But these stories still take place in the same universe so I still want to look at the connecting dots.
Obviously, this starts with Fazbear Ent.
Now when Henry and William first open the family diner and some of the old locations, I doubt either of them truly expected to be started a corporation. I say corporatation because in current times there is cannonicaly multiple locations someone could build up (Pizzeria Sim), a horror spinoff (Fazbear fright), and two games canon to exist in the FNAF universe (VR and AR). A pretty large operation I doubt they were expecting when they first opened a location to entertain families.
So how did the Fazbear Ent. we know come to be? Henry was the one in Pizzeria Sim, but if I recall correctly he didn’t ever mentioning stating he was in charge of a whole lot. Not actually too odd despite being a co-founder, after the initial murders and just a couple years of working in the business Henry probably was more than ready to retire. William went off and made Afton Robotics (sister location) so I wouldn’t be surprise if Henry was Done™️ as well. Also, with literally murders surrounding the company the only way to win back a public’s trust would be to say “we’re not in charge of it anymore.”
But the thing is, I don’t recall having a single hint as too *who* took over afterwards. I don’t know if Fazbear was given to a senior employee, or if it was sold off, or some combination of the two. Point is tho, it’s in new hands and they have taken the Corp. into some very new territory.
Regardless of who has it and what they’re doing with it, we saw there first attempts at business in FNAF 3. They were aware of the haunted past and first tried to capitalize on it with a horror attraction. Weird idea, but it would have some basis in some nostalgia and appealing to a growing interest into the paranormal the public has been having.
It fell through though. Quite spectacularly tbh. Any company with a decent amount of money would’ve probably invested in a cleanup crew and a safety inspection sooner on. That should’ve prevented the whole vent and fire situation. So that makes me think that whoever was in charged wasnt entirely sure what they were doing and didn’t have a ton of money upfront.
Then we don’t hear from Fazbears until pizzeria sim. Which is a couple games ahead and a considerable gap in our knowledge considering how big it appears to be by the time we reach pizzeria sim.
So what the hell happened inbetween all that???? How do you go from a failed horror attraction to multiple franchises and the money to create illustrated tutorials to your employees??? So idk if the new person got smart or changed hands with someone who knew more but they busted their ass ngl.
I’m guessing they opened more locations with the rockstar animatronics. Familiar faces but updated enough to look new. This paved way for the mediocre melodies to have a place, probably Fazbear’s way of testing the water with new characters. Don’t think they did that well but hey, at least they tried.
Then in VR it’s stated the company paid for FNAF 1-4 to be made. I’m assuming it was done around the time they were opening new locations when they realized there were people who grew up with the haunted locations. They held skepticism towards the place and likely to the new owner(s) and something needed to be done.
Boy oh boy, the intern who decided to commission a “maniac” to make the games and thus dismiss the claims must of gotten one helluva promotion. It also generated significant income which led the company to make the VR! Not only as further income, but to hopefully get a new generation of fans to be interested in the company for a totally different reason.
“Ooo look, this animatronics are haunted! Hahah isn’t that something? Here, go play with them and see how ~scary~ it would be! Isn’t it a hoot?” And judging by the amount of toys and DLC made, it must’ve been a hit! People took to it and thought it was cool, new, and fun. Hey look at this game! It pokes fun at some old company thats haunted! Isn’t that weird and yet likable in a toootally unironic way??
Well hey, these new kids like the creepy “story” that was “made up.” Wouldn’t it be cool to use all this new tech we have and some old suits we found to deliver the pieces of rusted metal to them?
Yea idk how that found base in the company meeting either, but it worked somehow. And apparently the company is big enough and driven purely by money to be able to not give a proper damn about the consequences.
So not only was Fazbear Ent. able to poke fun at and dismiss the original story as just a story, but now they essential have the chance to do whatever they want with the characters now. They got a boatload of money.
I guess this is where the glamrocks come in. They got people to ignore the murders. Guess they figured to try and push their way into the mainstream as something hip and cool for the teens to be into. What better way than a mall/party scene for teens to hang out at? Lmao. Points for originality I guess.
Didn’t expect this post to be this long jfc but it is now.
TL: DR: Fazbear Ent. is now owned by people solely concerned how to milk a lot of cash outta the franchise that’s dismissed its haunted past. Whew capitalism?

can you rank (loosely if u don't want to play exact favorites) villanelle's most important or influential denny relationships?
i’m just putting them roughly in the order she met/reunited with them on denny, for the record. and in case anyone was thinking of coming for me, this is just what i reckon are the most INFLUENTIAL, good and bad, not a complete list of her friends or family or important interactions
okay and this is just going underneath a cut because it got long as fuck
fox is villanelle’s best friend, her -- if we lived in the, like, idk, homestuck universe (not to immediately make this cursed.) where you can have a romantic soulmate AND a platonic soulmate, he’s her platonic soulmate. and in terms of influence, i want to emphasize how much of villanelle’s denny arc, like... could not have been possible without fox. fox was the first person who was ever kind to her despite having absolutely no reason to be, and he was also the person who challenged her in such an important way at such an important time. during the whole GRACE plot, HE came back for her, and HE’S the one who essentially said “look, you have a choice. you’re not just a tool for this organization. one way or another, you need to make a choice.” which. again. a huge first in her life!
i’m trying to keep these short and sweet since i have so many to talk about, but genuinely like... i cannot understate fox’s importance as a part of villanelle’s life. and for her to even be able to have a best friend, to begin with? that’s such a like, idk. cornerstone of things Normal People Get To Have, and every day i write her i am so so happy she found him. from an ooc perspective, they’ve like, been to hell and back together also, and there’s a fierce kind of joy as writer when you look at a relationship that’s over a year old and has evolved so much over that time and get to go “we made this together!!!”
konstantin meanwhile is... well, he’s the healthiest parental figure villanelle’s ever had. which. really isn’t a high bar! their relationship has always been so tempestuous because it is built on konstantin’s manipulation of villanelle, both to use her for his own gain and... y’know, for his own survival, being able to manage her as long as he did! but he also genuinely loves her, and has gone out of his way on a number of occasions to protect her or help her or take care of her whereas it’s quite likely that most of the twelve’s handlers... just wouldn’t give a shit! i highly doubt that the twelve are the kind of organization where you’re supposed to get actually attached to your agent. and for villanelle, konstantin’s affection for her makes things more confusing, because it’s hard for her to ever draw the line between what’s sincere affection and what’s manipulation. post-canon update, she kind of now aggressively thinks he’s full of shit and is rejecting him for her own well-being which i think! is an important boundary for villanelle to be able to learn to set for herself! and you and i have spoken about how we don’t want to reconcile that immediately, but i also think... she would very much miss him and that it would be very, very strange for her to be without him when she’s ALWAYS had him to fall back on on denny, and indeed in most of her adult life in general. she needs to learn to stand without him, but at the same time.... i’m super interested to see how they approach each other now from this more honest, fractured place.
and then we have ruby , which. i still think ruby and villanelle are one of the most delightfully unexpected panfandom dynamics i’ve ever helped form PERIOD. and it’s interesting because hunter and i have always talked about how you would never expect these two characters to connect on the surface -- and you wouldn’t! but in exploring the ways they’re different, we’ve also found these really jarring similarities between them, too? and i think in a way, they’ve kind of bled into each other on top of that. villanelle’s relationship with ruby is like, INCREDIBLY formative to her learning empathy and just how to... nurture a relationship and be there for other people, but she has also become someone who ruby looks up to, and i think she’s contributed to maybe. Darkening ruby a bit, in that way.
i also think of all the girls, ruby is the one who villanelle has the most explicitly maternal relationship with. weiss too, but i’ll get into why i think that works a bit differently in weiss’ section. but anyway, WHEN you have that kind of relationship with someone, at least when you’re approaching it with earnesty and a determination to do it Right, it challenges you with a certain kind of responsibility that i think has been essential to villanelle’s development too. not only has it taught villanelle how you love someone in a comparatively selfless way from what she’s used to, but requires from her a certain kind of self-awareness and moral awareness (if she doesn’t care about doing the right thing In General, she cares about doing right by ruby) that has allowed her to mature a bit on denny. so yeah, ABSOLUTELY one of of villanelle’s most influential dynamics.
she’s obviously also very close with weiss, and i would also call her feelings for weiss maternal, but compared to ruby/villanelle i think weiss and villanelle’s relationship tends to take on a more Sisterly overtone on the surface. and i think that’s maybe because weiss HAS a sister who is basically villanelle’s age, who is her other maternal figure, so for weiss that’s more just how these kinds of feelings tend to Manifest. idk. you know, not to speak for jay, that’s just my take on it. but while weiss and villanelle have never really clashed the way ruby and villanelle have and then had to work through resolving that, i think in a way weiss just holds villanelle more accountable on a more day to day basis? they’re always quite honest with each other, weiss has always been quick to call her out, and like -- post-graceplot, for instance, weiss was the one who was like “i believe you didn’t mean to hurt us but you still need to find a way to make this right.”
and not that weiss did this deliberately, but she’s also the person who REALLY tested the person villanelle has become on denny and how... committed she is to loving the people she loves, via everything that went down during the hunger games. the way villanelle feels about the sacrifice she made is still really complicated -- it’s not something she feels comfortable being commended for, but it’s also not something she regrets. she’s not one to put selfless sacrifice on a pedestal, especially not in a horrible situation like that where neither of them should have had to to begin with, but a part of her... does find a deep sense of relief in finding this validation that her love for weiss - and all the girls, really - is real, and that she proved it to herself. after the games, i think maybe villanelle can be open with weiss in a way that she can’t entirely be with the rest of the girls. it’s just one of those things where if you go through something like that together, the bond it forges is quite unique.
i wavered on whether to include blake because villanelle didn’t do quite as much active development with her or yang, but i’m throwing blake in here for a few reasons.  1) post-graceplot when villanelle was kind of avoiding everyone, blake was the person who was able to approach that from the most empathetic point of view since she had just recently been on a “running away from everyone” arc herself, and i think that ultimately helped villanelle a lot in easing into wanting to make things right.
2) blake’s death during the games, and her not coming back afterwards, was a HUGE driving factor in how desperately angry villanelle became after the fact. it’s also maybe the most raw experience she’d had with grief up to that point, and it wasn’t something she was able to reconcile. that loss really helped to fuel her rage and also taught villanelle that even when you do your best to love someone else, things can still go wrong and you can still lose them, and that... wasn’t an easy thing for her to come to terms with.
and 3) she promised to fuck up adam for her if he ever showed up which, i think, should be the driving goal of the rest of villanelle’s life,
sun and villanelle aka the single greatest example of “what if we jokingly shipped this oh god oh no wait i’m invested.” look they were always meant to be temporary but they were so goddamn sweet! while they lasted! i think planning temporary ships can give characters MOUNTAINS of development that endgame ships just can’t give you in the same way (not to say there’s not plenty of development that comes from endgame ships; i’m just saying there’s. a special kind of development that comes specifically from being brave enough to approach ending things with finality.) in villanelle’s case, that kind of stable, sweet relationship where she was tempering so much of herself deliberately could have never lasted, but it was good for her to get to experience that for a little while regardless? while i don’t think she was in love with sun, she did learn to just love him, and i think the clarity and simplicity sun approaches people in general with was something villanelle really benefited (and still benefits) from. most of all, it was significant for her to be able to see and understand that she wasn’t going to be able to be present and stable in that relationship in the way that sun deserved, and to make the decision to let him go. even if she was never OBSESSIVE about sun, villanelle still used to be a pretty selfish person who didn’t see any reason to let go of things if she enjoyed them, so i think. it can’t be underestimated, what sun taught her about love.
emerald and villanelle have come SUCH a long way. first they were friends, then they were very bitter enemies, now they’re friends again approaching even a familial fondness. when villanelle was angry at emerald, it was never so much morally based as it was specifically based in the way emerald had hurt ruby, and penny, and had lied to villanelle herself. and although they started to resolve that after em didn’t take the chance to take advantage of villanelle during the memory glitch, i really think it was all the cinder stuff that allowed them to become close again. there are a lot of parallels between emerald and villanelle: both of them have coped by refusing to acknowledge the depths they’d sunken into over their heads with their respective organizations, both of them have been stuck in incredibly fucked up situations with older women. i think when villanelle acknowledges what emerald’s been through and is able to recognize that and feel compassion for her, she’s in a way learning to feel compassion for herself, and that’s very significant. i’d love to see how they evolve after villanelle’s canon update because i think now she’ll even have. More feelings about that. and i also think on some subconscious level as the new fall maiden she feels some kind of obligation to em, to be better than cinder was.
eve is, of course, a given on a list like this. she is such a powerful - the most powerful, in fact - influence on villanelle in any universe, and i think a lot about that in the context of villanelle having so many other people in her life now who she loves and who love her. as we’ve kind of seen on at least one occasion, if villanelle had to choose between eve and everything and everyone else she has... she would always choose eve. which isn’t something i’m trying to paint as sweepingly romantic (i love villaneve and i love how disastrous they are around one another, but i can still admit i’d be concerned for someone who would choose their partner over EVERY OTHER LOVED ONE THEY HAVE COMBINED,) but then again, it’s not even necessarily only for romantic reasons. it’s because eve is someone and something villanelle... craves, needs, finds time and time again that she simply cannot live without.
and them trying to make a relationship with one another work on denny has really provided its own unique set of challenges that’ve had an impact on both of them. eve and villanelle are deeply intrinsically connected, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to peaceful coexistence. any semblance of that, i think, is something that they’re always going to have fight for durations of, because their instinct is so much to consume one another instead! while its effect on villanelle of course can’t be described as wholly healthy - like i just mentioned above, she can be pushed into that place where she just sabotages everything else in her life for eve even still - that isn’t to say that there aren’t things about eve that haven’t changed villanelle for the better too! because to even have a romantic relationship with eve for an extended period of time like she has, villanelle has had to get better at certain things. she’s had to access a place of vulnerability and willingness to communicate that she hasn’t with anyone else, she’s had to accept eve’s own agency and individuality separate from their relationship (which is something she did on denny even before season 3 had her do it in canon!), she’s even had to do things like confront what her, say, killing bill actually meant and how it affected and continues to affect eve. it’s an absolutely explosive and constantly unstable dynamic, but there is of course GENUINE love between the two of them, and i really love all the ways in which villanelle’s been challenged to fight for that.
carolyn bears a mention because she’s undoubtedly been hugely influential  in the choices villanelle has made (and the ones which have been denied to her), especially lately. i don’t think villanelle ever particularly underestimated carolyn, but i think she was much too proud and too cocky to have imagined she’d have ever ended up under carolyn’s thumb the way she did. carolyn forced villanelle into the RID, and that was a situation villanelle was pretty complacent in for a while if only because it generally worked out for her. it took being backed into a corner to realize exactly how fucked she was, and interestingly enough i think that started to open villanelle’s eyes to the reality that she keeps ending up trapped by these higher powers, which is something that her canon update is going to heavily heavily emphasize. so. yeah, although while canon villanelle is mostly ambivalent to carolyn, denny villanelle absolutely HATES her. which. heh. may not end well. for at least one of them.
natasha is such a significant relationship for villanelle because i think, even with all the time she’s spent on denny and all the people she’s met? villanelle does not know... many people who are like her. most of her friends who know she’s an assassin either shy away from that part of her, or acknowledge it without really understanding what it means or what villanelle’s relationship is with killing and her own inner darkness. but natasha is such a PARALLEL to villanelle in so many ways, she was shaped into a weapon and told it’s the thing that defines her too, and even though she got out, she still has to grapple with that part of herself every single day. villanelle and natasha have their differences, sure, their variations in character and how their individual stories play out, but they also share a very specific understanding with one another that i don’t think either of them can really get anywhere else at the moment. and that’s a huge part of why nat has been such a significant influence on villanelle. when nat shows villanelle compassion, it comes from a deep, unfiltered place of empathy, something that could never be mistaken as Pity because they both understand what an insult that would be. when nat shows kindness and affection towards villanelle, it always seems to come from a place of “i understand the place you’re in completely, and you deserve to be treated like a human being anyway” which i think is so tragically ironic considering the self-loathing nat still carries around with her.
and i think there’s a part of villanelle that... while on denny she’s never expressed outward interest in completely changing her lifestyle or anything like that, i think there’s a part of her that looks at nat and admires how far she’s dug herself out of the hole she was in and, in some small quiet way, hopes to be like her someday.
pyrrha is pretty unique among the ruby girls in that like, rather than bonding with her gradually, villanelle kind of latched onto her immediately in a very “THIS IS TEAM RWBY’S DEAD LOVED ONE I MUST PROTECT HER” sort of way. which is interesting in its own way, because villanelle is rarely that protective of other people, and i think it goes beyond the physical (because she knows pyrrha can take care of herself) and more into the emotional. which villanelle does not especially consider herself well-equipped to handle, but hey, she’s gotta make sure pyrrha values herself beyond just what she can give or sacrifice to others!!!
on the subject, in terms of influence i have to mention that pyrrha gave her life for villanelle during the games, which is something that no one has ever done for her before, and an event which directly compelled villanelle to do the same for weiss. i don’t think villanelle knows how to even... address that, really, and can’t fully process the scope of it even though she made a similar decision in the end. in simplified terms, she feels like she owes pyrrha a debt, and one she hasn’t yet fathomed a way to repay.
elizabeth really just started out as a minor infatuation, a lil crush like villanelle gets on any pretty woman who intrigues her for more than 5 minutes. her flirtations with elizabeth were all in line with that, and i don’t think villanelle really realized how much she was encouraging elizabeth’s feelings for an attachment to her, particularly because her own feelings were not particularly intense for the first stretch of their friendship! in a way, villanelle’s relationship with elizabeth is a good examination and challenge of something i haven’t really done before with villanelle, which is that, like. it’s not her fault that she doesn’t bond or attach the way other people do (or at least, is much slower to), but she also has virtually no self-awareness of the way she engages and sometimes leads people on as a result. a lot could have been averted if she’d just... had the sense to set boundaries or had found a way to be more honest about the person she is.
but a lot’s happened since then, and now villanelle has to contend with the fact that she DOES love elizabeth, but at a time when their relationship has already just become too strained and impossible for the time being. additionally, villanelle really has no reference at all for being IN love with someone (or approaching that, anyway) in a way that’s non-obsessive and more quiet and gradual and just... very different from the way she loves eve, so she has a real hard time distinguishing this grey area between platonic and romantic feelings. because villanelle is still very literal in the interpretation of her emotions, so her reference for being in love with someone is “eve”, and she doesn’t know how to recognize anything on such a different part of the spectrum (particularly because villanelle is probably physically attracted to like, many of her platonic adult friends,)!  SO elizabeth and villanelle’s relationship is very influential in the sense that it really pushes villanelle into exploring parts of herself and emotional experiences that she hasn’t really yet.
do i need to put cinder here? she wasn’t in villanelle’s life for very long, but technically she is the reason villanelle has maiden powers, which changed her life entirely, so,
and then i’ll also toss in jigsaw (and technically also handsome jack), who will be INCREDIBLY pleased to know that his trap had a lasting effect one way or the other. don’t get me wrong, she was pissed as hell about it and would go on the WARPATH if she ever caught so much as a whiff of their involvement, but i mean. aside from the fact that lasting trauma definitely counts as an influence, i think it is one of the events that definitely brought villanelle closer to and more attached to eve, if perhaps in a. somewhat codependent and overprotective way. still can’t believe they caught villanelle saying she would give up everything else in her life and die for her gf ON TAPE,
