4. deep red. just a really fuckin neat, cornerstone giallo movie. genuinely creepy.

5. phenomena. love jennifer connelly, love the setting, the use of the bugs is cool. gets points for inspiring clock tower (to steal directly from it). chimp.

5. tenebre. this is where his movies start to get really campy and i like, adore peak meme era argento

6. opera. what the fuck even happened in this movie. thoroughly enjoyed being baffled by it.

7. inferno. like suspiria but absolutely no plot whatsoever. still visually pretty.

8. the bird with the crystal plumage. i’ve seen this movie like 3 or 4 times for some reason, and i know that i enjoy it, but for some reason my memory like. wipes itself every single time i finish watching it, and i could not tell you anything about it except for the twist at the end

9. trauma. kind of basic but earns huge points for the absolutely absurd ending

10. the cat o’nine tails. honestly i don’t really remember anything about this movie and maybe i’d rank it higher if/when i rewatch

It was my bestie's wedding and her mum had asked a few times that day for me to perform. I said yes, just to appease her and told her, "okay later when they play Zapin or something" Little did I know that she would go to the live band and asked them to play a Zapin song and prompted the lead singer to call me to dance. They played, "Laksmana Raja Di Laut" and my limbs started going and the rest is history. The song was a fusion of Zapin and dangdut. I would have gone all jaipongan haha! This is me all flustered having to dance solo for the bride and groom and her many guest. You can imagine at 31, my whole body was sore, post-performance but I am happy that it happened. This a little gesture for my many years of friendship and forgiveness my bestfriends have given me. @nor_temptmenot @grumpy_art @fizzlep0p

gimme some villaneve au ideas you been tossing around lately

i HAVE been on a strange au trip lately which is unusual for me because i usually prefer focusing on canon! must be the hiatus. okay here are a few:

dark au: i have a headache even thinking about how i would do a fully fleshed out dark au but the urge to combine current hyperfixations.... is strong..... plus i’m going to be real, “character has to repeat time loops over and over and over in a desperate and doomed attempt to save someone they love” is like, one of my favorite tropes ever (madoka do NOT interact.  in fact, even jonas and martha from dark itself, do not interact. claudia and regina, you can interact.) so anyway with this i was kind of imagining a scenario where there are two “sides” trying to fight to control time travel, similar to canon, and villanelle is some kind of assassin for the sic mundus side, like just a tool they use to ensure everything falls into place in every loop. eve, meanwhile, ends up aligning with the more claudia-esque side who are kinda trying to save everyone, and she and villanelle of course end up fixating on each other and there are like... multiple different versions interacting various points. sometimes they’re bitter enemies. sometimes eve is from much further along from villanelle, and desperately in love with her while villanelle is still sort of treating it like a fun game. sometimes villanelle is from even further along than EVE and ultimately abandons everything to try to save her in every loop, because i’m picturing eve having to make some sort of sacrifice at the end of hers like claudia does. it’s confusing, what i’m picturing in my head, but the pieces are THERE.

alias au: this one has been living in my brain rent free since the other day. basically the core idea is just, making villanelle and eve sydney and vaughn, kind of. villanelle works for the twelve, but in this verse she doesn’t KNOW she does, she’s been told its some black ops offshoot of mi6. they kill someone important to her, she finds out the truth, decides to go to REAL mi6 to work as a double agent and get revenge, etc. eve is already working for mi6, but kind of a similar vibe to canon where it’s mostly desk work and she’s perpetually dissatisfied, but SUPER fixated on the twelve (maybe bill is also dead in this verse. maybe, MAYBE to make things EXTRA spicy, villanelle killed him in this verse too, only this time she was lied to about the twelve about who he was). so anyway, when villanelle strolls in to mi6 and declares she wants to be a double agent, eve gets assigned to her case as her handler, and probably if villanelle killed bill it’s a complete disaster at first, and they have to learn how to build trust between them from the ground up and everything is high stakes and they’re constantly in danger of the twelve finding out everything and i DIE.

hunger games au:  i’ve already been talking about this one for a while and other people have been building their own ideas off it, but in regards to villaneve SPECIFICALLY.  i keep imagining this scenario where the two of them were the dual victors of their games, katniss and peeta style, because their volatile relationship has kind of become this HUGE capitol sensation and public sentiment was wildly against either of them coming out of the games without the other. it’s a verse where their canon relationship is like.... really, really played up to an almost meta extent, because of course everything has to be a performance if they’re to survive. they still have an incredible and authentic raw connection to one another, but they’re also huge celebrities and nothing in their lives is private and everything has to be calculated not only to play their own game, but to play the capitol’s, so.... it’d really be like a story about the two of them figuring out what’s real and how to claim agency in defining their relationship. eventually they probably become rebels because WAY down the line there was an idea about fox revealing himself as one who’s been alive this whole time, so.

rwby au: i didn’t even figure anything out for this one, i just have to list it here as a possible option to flesh out later because i feel like it’s obligatory at this point in their lives.

the good place au: this is an idea i haven’t touched in ages but my mom just started watching the good place, so i’ve been thinking about it again. pretty self-explanatory. villaneve end up in the bad place and get paired up as soulmates, everyone assumes they’re going to torture each other for all eternity but instead it turns out they really do complete each other and somehow manage to actually end up making each other better people, etc.

beauty and the beast au: another old one, even more self explanatory, that exists purely because villanelle is absolutely That asshole who’d be vain and selfish towards a secret enchantress and get herself cursed to be a literal Monster unless she can figure out how to be loved in return. i feel like this one, if done right, would be an interesting examining of the intertwining between love and obsession, and the inherent soul-deep connection villaneve will always have vs. the ways they have to actually LEARN to love each other.

some desert mansion headcanons?

it’s around hereabouts on the map! not too far from the border. i also made this post to give people an idea of the surrounding area. it’s in a place called diez coronas which is like.... rdr’s version of monument valley, essentially. villanelle really likes it because it’s SO larger than life (and she seems to have a thing for sweeping, breathtaking landscapes) and one of the most isolated areas on denny, really.

3 stories, 9 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, with probable room to convert few rooms into either in the WILD event that it was needed. which... quick tally:  eve and villanelle share a room. bor’ka has one (if cecil apps him). the rwbies are each going be offered their own room but there was a possibility that some of them might double or quadruple up, so i don’t know what the exact count for that would be. but even if they Each had their own bedroom, that’d bring the total to 6. fox, lisa, or nat might be offered one, so that’s...  wow damn imagine if they actually do need more space.

villanelle (enlisting eve’s help) has spent the majority of late july and early august interior decorating. if you look at... any of her living spaces from seasons 1, 2, or 3, it’s pretty clear that she has that specific brand of eccentric-chic style and likes decorating with stuff from all over the world, so i’m sure it’s been an INTERESTING process.

team rwby’s rooms are going to be color themed. of course.

it has two whole pools and a hot tub. the ooc reason is just because the house actually had two pools in its listing. the ic reason is because villanelle was like “wow.... this is a really big piece of property :/ better put one pool on either side of it because having to walk the whole way across sounds boring.”

it’s on several acres of land and gated, and the land inside the gate is very... green, compared to the land outside of it. villanelle cheats by making it rain a bit more often than it’d generally be prone to in the desert.  but she’s got gardens to upkeep! yes, she keeps gardens, but when i say she “keeps gardens” i mean that in the like... most villanelle way possible. ie she’s very sporadic about actually nurturing them and mostly just uses her magic instead, she’s impulsive and gets bored very quickly and sometimes will decide to change the theme on the whim (some days it might be a native desert themed garden, other days it might be a japanese garden, other days it might be a tropical garden, and so on). the only real constant is that she likes to add touches that remind her of the people she loves.

villanelle dedicated One Entire Room SOLELY to being a library, and she’s meaning to give it to blake as a belated birthday present. with all the vampire stuff happening she hasn’t had the chance to show her, though.

villanelle’s bedroom, no matter where she’s living, has always been THE most personal space to her. like. she’s lived with people on denny plenty of times already at this point, and shared space in that capacity, but never in any of those times did she like. casually let people into her bedroom. because it’s kind of the innermost expression of her as a person, just as likely to be full of designer clothes and expensive perfume and girly accessories as it is to be riddled with deadly weaponry and costumes and disguises and things she specifically needs for Her Job. all of this to say that i am absolutely INTRIGUED to imagine what her sharing a bedroom space with eve full time actually looks like. i want someone to break in to snoop around someday and go “oh my god, they’re actually insane.”

there is goat-friendly outdoor space specifically for bartok. villanelle made sure, despite their rivalry.

they have a piano because villanelle wanted to take up playing again.

her favorite space in the whole house may just be her bedroom patio, which opens up onto that ENORMOUS cliff view and at night, gives you an endless view of the stars. one of her favorite little games is making up her own constellations. 

the (massive) kitchen is sure to be the site of many disastrous baking experiments. villanelle can cook, but she can’t bake. also i want her to teach one of her roommates how to make like poisons or sedatives or something from scratch.

there’s a movie theatre room and its default movie is avatar (2009).

villanelle is presently looking at an experimental rift energy signature security system that would potentially even keep out like. doubles and doppelgangers, if not disabled. otherwise, given the givens, she doesn’t feel she needs all that much security.

some day in the future villanelle is going to look back on this and go “wow. i really spent a whole summer building the world’s most giant house because i was depressed. ...........i’m so proud of myself for not being one of those “cool motive, still murder” people who kills more often because i’m sad!”, 

idk that’s all for now, different people will probably add their own headcanons and touches as it fills up

make me sad by talking abt villanelle and family. like how she defines it, who she considers family or how she conceptualizes her denny family vs. her blood fam, etc

i guess villanelle defines family as....... the people you belong with. or at least, that is/was the extent of her intuitive definition of family, particularly when she had none to speak of. family was.... a thing that normal people had, that she always told herself she never needed, because she was extraordinary. but the more she was sucked her whole thing with eve (in canon)/the affairs of that first group of people she initially bonded with on denny, the more some of her complex feelings opened up, and the more she realized that it was just.... lonely not having one. everyone else had people they belong with. people who loved them no matter what. obviously... not everyone has families who are so kind and unconditional, but that’s how it can seem when you’re on the outside looking in.

in her world, at least, she sort of thought her blood family was the only option she had if she wanted something like that: people who would love her even if she was fucked up. particularly, i think, after the end of season 2, when konstantin told her that the two of them weren’t family despite the fact that he’s really the only father figure villanelle has. but.... obviously, reuniting with her birth family didn’t work out. that’s a loss, to her, that can’t really be entirely filled or mended, and that’s why it was difficult to come back to denny and just settle with her found family again, but i think bit by bit she’s coaxed herself into letting herself want that again despite all of her fears and despite the wounds that still need mending. it’s just.... all been complicated again by july’s glitch and her rift with ruby and all of the stuff that’s been going on with the other rwbies. though if anything, hardships like this often remind her of how much she loves them more than she’s afraid of herself.

i think working all of that out, especially given how it ties into healing from some of the awful canon update stuff she’d been to, should be her most important focus right now, which is why i’m holding off a bit for now with some other development stuff i want to do with her. 

also i don’t mean to imply that the rwbies are the ONLY people villanelle considers to be her family. fox definitely counts too (he’s practically a surrogate sibling),and eve is like practically her spouse at this point (catradora shippers frown at the implication that your partner can be your family!), and she might even ease into accepting some of her blood family again, if bor’ka or pyotr stay around. but it’s a HARD concept for villanelle, “family”. she avoided categorizing... most of the people i just listed as that for at least a solid year after she met them, even just in her head, because it’s scary for her. it puts those relationships almost on sacred ground, it’s... admitting in a sense that she needs them, and villanelle does not like to need anyone.

(it’s also admitting that she would die for them, even if just in the moment, and that as a vulnerability scares her too -- she’s never entirely unpacked what happened in the hunger games.) 

that’s really why she has no idea what to make of konstantin anymore. i think deep down, villanelle does view him in a paternal sense even still, but she’s highly reluctant to admit that to him or herself because she’s still really stung not only by that instance of “rejection” so to speak, but also just... realizing that she would never be his priority, in general. she loves him, but she’s honestly trying not to, because that just feels like another invitation for betrayal.

but just like you can, in many instances, choose your family, well.... sometimes you can’t.

what do you wanna do w villanelle on denny after her canon update, or what do you think she will do/how will she handle things

me realizing i suddenly officially have to put all the thoughts on this i’ve been having on this over the past few months together and that i have no idea where to start: wait.

coming back to denny will be! really difficult for villanelle, actually! not just because of everything she’s been through, but because of the kind of... duality of both worlds. settling on denny once and allowing herself to have Nice Things was one thing, but when you’ve experienced for yourself that it can just be torn away from you at any time? and that you won’t even remember what you lost?

for her, it’s particularly difficult because canon ke is not really an environment where it’s easy for villanelle to form the kind of bonds she made on denny. canon villanelle has not had the kind of development that denny villanelle has had, and being jerked between these two completely different mentalities makes everything i just described THAT much more jarring. post season 3 villanelle is already in the middle of this, like, canonical identity crisis, right, and so for her to be in a world that wants denny villanelle on top of that is just. it’s just going to be a lot.

i mean! she is denny villanelle, but she also isn’t, because she’s had so many distinct experiences to alter her and she can’t just... go back to before. nevermind the fact that it’ll have been nearly a year’s worth of time for her but only a little over a week on denny, which puts a rattling distance between her and everyone else in that capacity, too. 

to sum up what i’m trying to say, it’ll be... scary for her. to accept some of the Good back into her life again, knowing for sure now that one day it’ll all be taken away again. and she also really wants to figure out what kind of person she is or... wants to be, and she’s not necessarily sure the answer to either of those questions is “the villanelle that everyone remembers”, so what does she do? it’s almost another ratchet situation where a balance needs to be struck between “villanelle needs to establish her identity on her own terms” but also “other people aren’t wrong for grieving or feeling sad if she’s Not The Same”, in a way

there’s also the whole family thing, which -- god i’ve been rambling for a while now already, but i really wanted to touch on that. villanelle lost her birth family, only to come back to denny and remember that she has a found family that still loves her!!! which is a really conflicting situation. i think part of her will want to be with them more than Anything, but the other part of her does not know how to cope with this harrowing... hurt of what happened with her blood family. which won’t make sense to her. because in villanelle’s pretty simplistic view of How Emotions Work, shouldn’t she just be able to replace that family with a BETTER family? shouldn’t that fix everything? but no. love can be healing in its own right, but trauma is trauma and you have to face that eventually

i would love for her to eventually be able to talk to someone both about what happened with her mother and what happened with the twelve - the extent of how much and HOW LONG they’ve been manipulating her - but i know that she’ll probably make that difficult for a while so. we’ll see what happens.

but hopefully with all this YAPPING i’ve made it clear why her first instinct for a while will be... to avoid most people and close in on herself while she desperately figures out how to cope. what happens from there and how quickly she warms back up to having people she loves again, i think will depend on how her reunions and other future rps go! it’s one of those things you kinda have to feel out organically.

i AM going to take her post-season finale, i’ve decided, which means that the bad news is: she’ll probably be bitterly avoiding konstantin for a while, too (sorry, konstantin). the good news is that if there’s one thing season 3 has taught her, it’s that she can’t walk away from eve, and eve wouldn’t make the choice to walk away from her, so eve will probably be the one person she actually will try to find and keep in contact with right off the bat. it’s a start!

(oh, maybe natasha too, if only because once she hears natasha is kind of in deep shit for HELPING HER, she’ll feel shitty enough to want to show her face)

as far as what she’ll actually DO in the midst of all this - aside from her mansion-building scheme, which i’ve already discussed in another ask - i’m honestly not 100% sure yet! fresh off her canon update will be an opportune time to throw her at some new characters too, so who knows what kinda stuff she’ll get involved with while she’s Laying Low.

the one thing i’m really indecisive about is, like. what she is going to do PROFESSIONALLY. post season 3 villanelle seems so genuinely tired of killing, but on denny for the past however many months she’s always kinda teetered on the brink of being a fucked up anti-hero, expressly only killing Bad Guys and whatnot. maybe she’ll... play with kind of reinventing that, a bit. like. i don’t know if “vigilante” is the word i want outright (depending on your definition), but some kind of scary criminal presence who is fiercely involved with getting people out of Bad Situations. 

a little while ago i played with the idea of like. a villanelle who goes after groups that recruit and weaponize people (which reminds me! firebrand!!! villanelle is NOT going to want to go back to firebrand but, she’s also not going to want to leave ruby and pyrrha there, so she might. go back for their sakes, but in a very different context, which’ll be really interesting??) and also recently i did a private rp with a friend where she unexpectedly wrote herself into  “i’m going to make compassionate choices out of spite to fuck over all the people who only ever wanted me to be a weapon and a monster” so... idk! we���ll see what happens to her on denny!

also: i haven’t decided yet if she’d go back to calling herself oksana. for right now i think it’ll stay something she only wants eve to call her while she uses Villanelle as a kind of barrier against. everything and everyone else, but who knows. i’ve always said that kind of development from her would make me SOB

Gives nose/forehead kisses:  villanelle, being a little taller, gives eve forehead kisses a lot, but eve loves giving villanelle lil nose kisses.

Gets jealous the most: i mean, villaneve as a ship is basically a competition of who can be more irrationally possessive at any given time

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive: villanelle has a pretty steady alcohol tolerance, so she’s usually the one doing this for eve.

Takes care of on sick days:  villanelle invariably usually wants to cuddle up to eve whenever she herself is feeling sick, OR when eve is feeling sick, so either way they both usually get sick. dying together, as god intended.

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day: scenario 1: villanelle bodily picks eve up and throws her into the water to settle whatever petty beach argument they’re having.  scenario 2: eve tries to dunk villanelle because she thinks it’d be fun to test how much bullshit she is willing to tolerate, villanelle plays dead and makes eve give her cpr

Gives unprompted massages:  villanelle is REAL horny for giving eve unprompted shoulder and back massages, undoubtedly

Drives/rides shotgun: eve drives, villanelle takes “shotgun” a little too literally and threatens to shoot at any cars she suspects are tailing them

Brings the other lunch at work.

Has the better parental relationship:  i would say proooobably eve. i know her dad’s dead, but i believe she’s still in touch with her mom? maybe? meanwhile villanelle’s family situation is just a mess

Tries to start role-playing in bed:  they both need to be kinkshamed for other things undoubtedly but given that their real life situation is the definitive wlw role-playing scenario, do they really need to try it in bed?

Still cries watching Titanic:  eve and villanelle are both undoubtedly people who make fun of titanic, and that’s why they’re soulmates.

Firmly believes in couples costumes: villanelle. like, not even just on halloween or at parties or whatever, but just like, you know. in every day life.

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas: i’ll give you three guesses and her middle name is “pledges her undying love through indulging in shameless materialism”

Makes the other eat breakfast: eve INSISTS that villanelle needs to eat breakfast, and by that i mean she insists that villanelle cook breakfast for both of them.

Remembers anniversaries: see, they both do, but their problem is that they can never agree what constitutes as “when they started dating”. was it when eve stabbed villanelle in the stomach? was it when they started sleeping together after new years? was it when they confessed their undying devotion to each other after the hunger games? :thinking:

Brings up having kids:  villanelle,  repeatedly. it’s one of her top 10 favorite ways to antagonize eve.
