look i get most rehearsals in my life have not been paid, but when this is supposed to be a paid job and i’ve gotten $20 for an hour long rehearsal in the past, with this same company, $20 for a three hour rehearsal is just insulting.

I just want to keep my job even though I don't know how to make memes. Buy our coffee. We've got holiday gifts for the coffee lover in your life.
Awesome Coffee is different because 1. we source our beans directly from small farmers collectives, 2. it's better and fresher than grocery store coffee, and 3. ALL of our profit goes to fight maternal and child mortality in impoverished communities, whereas almost all other coffee makes rich people richer, which is the dumbest thing that can be done with coffee (or other forms of wealth).

"why is there no design in anything anymore" there aren't designers anymore. like that is the answer. there are maybe 3 people on the planet still employed in graphic design and they are paid less than half of what their time is worth

hey webtoon artists, did you hear that
your work is cheap to produce
everything you make is cheap and your labor is cheap and that makes it very profitable for companies like webtoons
it's as easy and cheap as just owning a tablet

i really forgot how much pushback tony got for saying that he didn't want to make weapons anymore. like not just "tony that's a bad call financially for the company" but like. ridiculing the idea, telling him he's not thinking straight. he's got three people in his life and two of them are saying this and the other one is his PA

I remember when I was not happy about completed GMMTV shows being removed from YouTube and transferred over to Viki. Because I don't like when things we get for free get moved behind a paywall. But people were okay with it because it meant more money for GMMTV, a company that made about 250 million dollar profit last year, to produce more shows and a list of other solid reasons.
And now more of GMMTV's shows are being released only on WeTV, IQIYI, Netflix, and Gagaoolala for international viewers instead of for free on YouTube.
This has been a lesson in Capitalism 101.

Now let me go watch this Peaceful Property finale for free on YouTube with ads and product placements which generate revenue.

insurance makes sense on a conceptual level but in reality insurance companies turn decently huge profits by a) relying on things not happening, which they mostly don't b) ensuring things mostly don't happen by exluding anything that might make "things happening" more likely and stacking it in their favour and then c) finding any excuse and loophole possible to not cover you if anything ever does happen
like. insurance would be good if it wasn't managed by insurance companies

Watcher fans sure are entitled and a little insane, ngl. "No one is going to sign up for your service! We're all poor! You've made the worst decision, and you'll be back in no time!" Saying this directly to the creators really reminds you of how low the respect for people you don't personally know has gone. I miss the forth wall between creator and audience.
I get and fully understand not having the money to support them, but... Watcher does have fans with money. A lot of them actually. They have merch sales. Their live tour sells out most venues. They have thousands of supporters on Patreon, where the cheapest tier is $5. They're able to gauge the rough finances of their staunchest supporters; that's how they landed on the subscription price. Yes, this move will reduce their viewership in sheer numbers, but to say all of their fans are broke and none will follow/support is factually incorrect.
It may not be a decision everyone agrees with, but severing the limitations of advertisers and youtube in favor of artistic freedom is a good thing. Yes, even if it comes with a loss of revenue. They understand that risk.
Also, I'm begging people to stop treating this like "another Netflix" or something and instead look at it as, "I am supporting a creator I like, similar to Patreon." They literally said in the video that they don't care if you share accounts. Get five friends, and you'll pay $1/mo.
I hate feeling compelled to rant in favor of their decision because I have my own reservations about whether it's the best move. However, I know it's not a choice they made lightly, and I like to think they understand that they'll need to branch out like crazy to entice subscribers.

Awesome Coffee is just better. Good Store has raised over $7,500,000 to fight maternal and child mortality, and we pay a premium to our farmers to get the best beans and support efforts to reverse deforestation. Plus no billionaires get richer.

I actually always hated selling/advertising merch so much. 😭
telling people to buy a shitty overpriced $30 + shipping phone case so I could make like $4.39 off an artwork inspired by the fragile beauty of nature just felt so bad. >_< I’m really glad I don’t feel pressured to sell on those kinds of sites anymore.

idk if I'll do any pride-specific art this year but regardless of that. my work and the spaces I curate are made from love and community. im not interested in arguing over identity labels and I abhor the hate and discrimination that is treated as justifiable because of disagreements over those labels, or the simple act of identifying with them.
I want a world that is safe for trans women. I want a society that upholds the rights and dignity of LGBT people. I want people to have the freedom to love who they love and choose the bodies they want to have. I want a community that is mindful of how poverty, race, trauma, disability and psychological conditions intersect with identity and presentation. I want the younger generations to have the knowledge of the struggle it took to reach this point, and I want the older generations to have comfort and connection, and I want all of us to know the respite of a future we've fought for.
so, y'know, don't be a cunt
