look i get most rehearsals in my life have not been paid, but when this is supposed to be a paid job and iāve gotten $20 for an hour long rehearsal in the past, with this same company, $20 for a three hour rehearsal is just insulting.
#iāve been paid hourly for rehearsals as a professional actor#by nonprofits#and instead#this FOR PROFIT COMPANY#apparently pays āper show rehearsedā and not per hour#regardless of how long rehearsal is#and apparently yearly training only counts as āone rehearsalā#oh also if youāre late to a show your stipend is instantly CUT IN HALF#if you fuck up getting payment from the client also#NO ONE on the show gets paid#pretty fucked up actually!#i think i will be leaving after this next show lol#even though i need the money#those payment policies are just sooooo fucked up#and they think they can get away with it bc weāre independent contractors and not employees#also they dont even give us tax documents if we make under a certain amount of money from them#i discovered as i started doing my taxes

love when ppl defend the aggressive monetization of the internet with "what, do you just expect it to be free and them not make a profit???" like. yeah that would be really nice actually i would love that:)! thanks for asking
#yes i want things to be free like ??? that is not a weird desire#'but but it costs money to keep up' ok and? how is that my problem#the government has plenty of murder dollars they could reallocate a few to make internet services universal if they wanted#also these companies were perfectly capable of supporting themselves before the internet got drowned with ads so ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ#edit: muting notifs on this post bc new additions have kind of petered out#so no one feel bad about adding something someone else has saidā it is not bothering me im just trying to keep my#notifs page cleanish lol#also since i saw some people are being redirected to read my tags: firstly hiiiiii this is a special secret message for you:3#secondly i have learned since making this that the reason they were able to support themselves previously was because#of investors bankrolling everything#and theyre now finally realizing that theyre never going to actually make a profit and arent as willing to invest#however thats just a minor correction and doesnt change my overall point#once again. so many murder dollars#so thats why im just adding it here in the tags rather than making an actual correction#anyways . love yall š#origibberish#bigger gibbers

i hope everyone in nintendoās management department dies and goes to hell no matter what and iām not kidding
#WERE LOSING YUZU AND CITRA. I DONT KNOW IF YOU ALL UNDERSTAND HOW INSANE THIS IS#game emulation enables piracy yes but itās also an INCREDIBLY powerful archival tool.#there are plenty of games out there that only exist in their original formats due to emulation.#this lawsuit has HORRIBLE implications for video game history. it makes it incredibly easy for companies to scorched earth their products#if theyāre not profitable enough. ART IS GOING TO BE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS. GAMES PEOPLE WORKED INCREDIBLY HARD ON#it wonāt just happen to bad games. it wonāt just happen to old games. they will use this to keep their remake/virtual console model going#forever and you will never be able to play your favorite games in their true original forms ever again.#i am fucking INSANELY mad rn. capitalism is the death of art fr#personal

I just want to keep my job even though I don't know how to make memes. Buy our coffee. We've got holiday gifts for the coffee lover in your life.
Awesome Coffee is different because 1. we source our beans directly from small farmers collectives, 2. it's better and fresher than grocery store coffee, and 3. ALL of our profit goes to fight maternal and child mortality in impoverished communities, whereas almost all other coffee makes rich people richer, which is the dumbest thing that can be done with coffee (or other forms of wealth).
#coffee company#i am an unpaid intern#because otherwise some of our profit would go to me#and I don't need it and shouldn't have it#buy our coffee#so I don't get replaced by someone who knows memeology#god I wish I could make better memes#I see young people memes and I feel so envious#not of their youth which is overrated but of their memetic creativity

"why is there no design in anything anymore" there aren't designers anymore. like that is the answer. there are maybe 3 people on the planet still employed in graphic design and they are paid less than half of what their time is worth
#.jtxt#ādid you see the new paypal logoā i did. i also saw everything else.#graphic design in 2024 is finding a nice font online and buying it and then typing your company's name into microsoft word#you can only generate profit by extracting value and where is the easiest source but to exploit and remove labor#an entire artistic field has been basically deleted. but so it goes

hey webtoon artists, did you hear that
your work is cheap to produce
everything you make is cheap and your labor is cheap and that makes it very profitable for companies like webtoons
it's as easy and cheap as just owning a tablet
#boycott webtoons when?#fuck webtoons#webtoons are NOT cheap to produce#they're cheap for companies like WT to license and own because they don't have to take on any of the labor#all that labor gets passed onto the creators who are severely underpaid and overworked#they only see value in your passion and labor if it profits them#your actual efforts are apparently so cheap to them that they can use it as a flex when pitching an IPO

i really forgot how much pushback tony got for saying that he didn't want to make weapons anymore. like not just "tony that's a bad call financially for the company" but like. ridiculing the idea, telling him he's not thinking straight. he's got three people in his life and two of them are saying this and the other one is his PA
#this plus the arc reactor for the hippies thing and. a lot of stuff he says actually#makes me wonder how many times tony tried to branch out and was gently steered back to The Main Company Purpose by obadiah#like okay sure tony you can design some intellicrops. it's profitable. humouring him#weapons are important tony. what we do keeps the world from falling into chaos. this is what we DO he has a whole fucking speech planned#kayvsim12024

insurance makes sense on a conceptual level but in reality insurance companies turn decently huge profits by a) relying on things not happening, which they mostly don't b) ensuring things mostly don't happen by exluding anything that might make "things happening" more likely and stacking it in their favour and then c) finding any excuse and loophole possible to not cover you if anything ever does happen
like. insurance would be good if it wasn't managed by insurance companies
#insurance is quite literally a bet#the company is betting that nothing will happen to you (or your house/car/stuff/pet)#except it's a very one-sided bet because you give them money either way and they're cheating about it#not having insurance is ALSO a bet#except YOU'RE betting nothing will happen to you#on the basis that (by keeping money in savings instead) you could reasonaby afford it if it did#rather than give that money to someone else and trusting that the thing which might happen IS something they will have to pay for#and can't wriggle out of#(obv american health insurance is an outlier and should not be counted you will always need medical care of some kind and all of it is so#expensive you guys are just so fucked i'm sorry)#insurance companies would still ultimately profit even if they paid out without whining and even if they covered the slightly more likely#bc the chance of it NOT happening is still greater than it happening & across all their clients Not Being Giant Cunts wouldnt bankrupt them#but here we are#something something capitalism

Watcher fans sure are entitled and a little insane, ngl. "No one is going to sign up for your service! We're all poor! You've made the worst decision, and you'll be back in no time!" Saying this directly to the creators really reminds you of how low the respect for people you don't personally know has gone. I miss the forth wall between creator and audience.
I get and fully understand not having the money to support them, but... Watcher does have fans with money. A lot of them actually. They have merch sales. Their live tour sells out most venues. They have thousands of supporters on Patreon, where the cheapest tier is $5. They're able to gauge the rough finances of their staunchest supporters; that's how they landed on the subscription price. Yes, this move will reduce their viewership in sheer numbers, but to say all of their fans are broke and none will follow/support is factually incorrect.
It may not be a decision everyone agrees with, but severing the limitations of advertisers and youtube in favor of artistic freedom is a good thing. Yes, even if it comes with a loss of revenue. They understand that risk.
Also, I'm begging people to stop treating this like "another Netflix" or something and instead look at it as, "I am supporting a creator I like, similar to Patreon." They literally said in the video that they don't care if you share accounts. Get five friends, and you'll pay $1/mo.
I hate feeling compelled to rant in favor of their decision because I have my own reservations about whether it's the best move. However, I know it's not a choice they made lightly, and I like to think they understand that they'll need to branch out like crazy to entice subscribers.
#Fair-weather fans#I speak as someone currently undecided if I'll sign up for their service or not#I have my own budget to consider#But the waves of people poor-mouthing AT Watcher directly is ridiculous and embarrassing#āThey're underestimating how many of us are poorā#Okay but that's not how business works#They just need enough people who aren't poor#and they may well have those numbers#Do you think they would have made such a drastic decision if they didn't???#If they want to focus on fans who support them even if their hard work isn't free that's their choice#People are trying to be so anti-capitalism on this they've actually circled back around to saying#āJust take ad revenue from these companies so they can profit off your content and I don't have to pay out of MY pocket.ā#That's... that's not the anti-capitalism stance you think it is#Maybe (and this is crazy) asking for a few dollars directly instead of through the vehicle of youtubeā googleā and all its advertisers is#... not spitting on the fans?#Please stop trying to guilt small content creators to their face while simping for large corporations#Watcher

I actually always hated selling/advertising merch so much. š
telling people to buy a shitty overpriced $30 + shipping phone case so I could make like $4.39 off an artwork inspired by the fragile beauty of nature just felt so bad. >_< Iām really glad I donāt feel pressured to sell on those kinds of sites anymore.
#auropost#something something alienation of labor under capitalism#even the arts will be repackaged and sold back to you as shitty plastics#because under capitalism the only worth is that which can be generated for corporate profitā¦. like these companies that rely on artists#to upload their designs for a pittance of sales price in order to function#sorry for the rant itās just 7am on a saturday morning and i just hate capitalism š„

idk if I'll do any pride-specific art this year but regardless of that. my work and the spaces I curate are made from love and community. im not interested in arguing over identity labels and I abhor the hate and discrimination that is treated as justifiable because of disagreements over those labels, or the simple act of identifying with them.
I want a world that is safe for trans women. I want a society that upholds the rights and dignity of LGBT people. I want people to have the freedom to love who they love and choose the bodies they want to have. I want a community that is mindful of how poverty, race, trauma, disability and psychological conditions intersect with identity and presentation. I want the younger generations to have the knowledge of the struggle it took to reach this point, and I want the older generations to have comfort and connection, and I want all of us to know the respite of a future we've fought for.
so, y'know, don't be a cunt
#not art#i am phrasing this in this way because i want to focus on the positives and the loce we should have for each other#not because i am unaware of hate but because i do not want to make a place for it at my table.#also leather and stuff at pride is not as dramatic as people make it out to be. non-issue#lets talk about companies profiting on substance abuse in the community and cops marching in parades if you really wanna kick someone out.

Awesome Coffee is just better. Good Store has raised over $7,500,000 to fight maternal and child mortality, and we pay a premium to our farmers to get the best beans and support efforts to reverse deforestation. Plus no billionaires get richer.
#gentle reminder that i am primarily#not an individual endowed with a soul#but a coffee company that donates its profit to charity#the fine line between human personhood and corporate personhood#coffee company

I remember when I was not happy about completed GMMTV shows being removed from YouTube and transferred over to Viki. Because I don't like when things we get for free get moved behind a paywall. But people were okay with it because it meant more money for GMMTV, a company that made about 250 million dollar profit last year, to produce more shows and a list of other solid reasons.
And now more of GMMTV's shows are being released only on WeTV, IQIYI, Netflix, and Gagaoolala for international viewers instead of for free on YouTube.
This has been a lesson in Capitalism 101.
Now let me go watch this Peaceful Property finale for free on YouTube with ads and product placements which generate revenue.
#I don't have beef with GMMTV#because companies are gonna company and make a profit#but I'm salty#we should not be arguing on the side of companies#we should not be defending them#And it's not being ungrateful
