You don’t have a show without Henry Mills. Emma might be the main character, but Henry is the heart of the show (he has the heart of the truest believer!!! it’s right there!!!). Every single character is irrevocably tied to him. He changed everyone’s lives and gave them the opportunity to change each other’s lives. He gave Emma a family. He gave Regina redemption. He delivered Rumple to his son. He gave David and Snow their daughter back. He was the reason behind Emma and Neal’s relationship and the good thing that came out of it. He healed Neal by giving him the opportunity to break the cycle of neglecting father/son relationships. Killian redeemed himself from his mistreatment of Baelfire by Henry allowing him to take a stepfather role in his life. The text says Emma broke the first curse, but Henry is really 99,9% responsible for it, thereby giving every single citizen of Storybrooke their lives back. Regina’s love for him broke the second curse. He was the one who got them out of the Heroes and Villains story. He’s descended from the Enchanted Forest but was born and raised in our world, making him the bridge between them. He did the impossible when, for just one second, he made the people of our world believe in magic and reunited his family again. Once Upon A Time is a show that operates around fate and Henry is the person who ties everyone’s red strings together. He is quite literally the center of their universe. He is The Author. He is the truest believer. It’s been there all along.

Once Upon A Time 3x05 "Good Form" my beloved, I know the text and shots and scene transitions directly parallel Hook saving David's life to Killian's loss of his brother, and Killian's pained expressions of seeing David succumb more and more to the same poison Liam did. Killian's insistence David tell his family, give them the chance to say goodbye that Killian didnt have with his brother. Of Killian himself sayinf David reminded him of Liam, his canonical hero. I know the ep's dialogue speaks of Killian's want to be seen as a man of honor, to be that man of honor.

And I know Killian would absolutely have been a deflective ass with the "I didn't do it for you" to David about saving his life, bantering teasingly that he did it for Emma like David has accused all of his actions to get to and be at Neverland as - just a selfish attempt to have Emma.

And I know Killian's half-joking flirtation with Emma later with "Is that all your father's life is worth to you?" is in character bc for his entire presence on the show previously he has used compliments of himself and flirtatious remarks as deflection, jokes, and to be actively antagonistic/inflammatory/annoying/playful.

I know all of this. I know this is all perfectly in character and the nonspoken motives informed by the flashbacks to his past and his performance are deeply in character. But christ alive I wish that a tiny little line would've been added in somewhere that made it clear that his motivations in this ep and the Neverland arc as a whole weren't just about Emma bc it feels like the writers partially forgot this in 3a, despite the strength of this episode and all its parallels. They say characters' feelings out loud or allude to them more directly in dialogue all the time like pleeeeeeease, you could've made it a lil more obvious it's not solely bc of Emma like. i just wish it wasn't easily misread if u didn't read into it deeper with Killian's characterization, beyond his contradicting words

SPOOKEY SEASON BITCH!!

Okay so allow me to YAP because it's my favorite season, my favorite holiday and my favorite BOY all in one place my brain has been on a rampage.

OUTFITS FIRST:

The dog skull is a mask and becomes his face when adorned, because he's extra like that.

Just imagine him with a tail because I forgot to add one, just IMAGINE

I've had this specific garment for Halloween Autumn squirrelled away and NOW IS THE TIME. She's wearing a corpse :)

The antlers were so last minute because I had her dressed planned and literally nothing else lol.

And i gave her greying hair! Because if winter is greying than so should Autumn damn it!

Now, the event itself. I have completely gone off the rails and there's a layout sketch ALSO at the bottom

I think it was mentioned that it takes place in the scar somewhere? Adjacent to it maybe? But i kinda like it being both in and out so that there's still fertile land to grow the corn maze and pumpkins and all that

And it also imagine that there are scare actors placed just about everywhere to roam around, and you will find some in the dead forest!

And I want everyone to consider the idea of a haunted house that EATS PEOPLE. The house is sentient and that's how you enter, by being EATEN and then at the end it spits you out into the back graveyard

(I don't know if someone actually lived in this house or if it's like the whole operation where its dismantled and reassembled super easy because ✨magic✨)

But, this man, THE Boogeyman, loves his job and even though he is incredibly busy and pulled in a lot of different directions he always tries to make time for Autumn's yearly event.

Much like Autumn, he's pretty chill most of the year until spooky season hits and then he has SO MUCH energy. EVIL ENERGY for EVIL

He gives it 200% every year, he's puppeting as many shadows as possible, he is switching forms nearly every fifteen minutes and he's LOVING IT, he's switching characters so often and getting jump scares EVERY TIME

Literally if you see any guy there, it could very well be him! Frankly, anyTHING there could be him. You'd never know but it could be!

(The giant two story tall spider that roams around at one point is also definitely him)

And he is sacrificing people to the haunted house, he does crowd work and everything before tossing them into the chimney or something.

I think Autumn has to reel him back in at some points in the night because there are children and babies here, Kills. Gotta tone it back just a little bit, just for a minute.

And even though it's not the end of his busy season he WILL crash right after the fact. Normally he staggers his energy out but this night needs all of it so he's passing the fuck out afterwards.

oKAY fine i'll talk about my obsession with 'hook' v 'killian' and 'swan’ v ‘emma' no one asked for this

(basically more thoughts inspired by this post)

let's start with emma. (forgive me if i'm wrong but) we get killian introducing himself by full name to emma and the others, but there's no scene of him finding out her surname. (i would love to see how that conversation goes, and emma's reaction to him starting to use it all the time). anyway, she is primarily referred to as 'emma', 'miss swan', 'the savior' even...but to my recollection never just 'swan' by anyone else. same way emma calls henry 'kid' or rumple calls neal 'bae'.

basically, killian is flirting 101. give a girl a nickname so she knows that you like her. so she knows you refer to her in a way that other don't.

killian is more obvious. most people refer to him by his more colorful moniker; hook. not ! that hook is not a suiting name for him. it's become a part of him and i personally believe it's gone from a name people feared to one used endearingly. but you can see it in his face how much it means to him when she calls him by his name. since i've started paying attention, i can't remember anyone else calling him killian except people he's loved in the past (liam, milah).

'hook' is who he'll always be to everyone else, but killian is the person only some get to see.

here are some examples of when they call each other the opposite that matter to mE:

emma- "you come to me, hook" during the s6 ooc engagement-call-off fiasco

killian- "emma, are you alright?" 5x02 after emma saves robin's life and killian pulls away from the kiss

both are times they feel disconnected from each other.

and!!! the opposite. like the scene mentioned previously in 3x22 where they reunite, they are so happy to see each the rouse flies out the window and they connect instantly.

Before Lucretia has even truly stepped foot into the room, she knows this is it. Wave Echo Cave is large, hidden mostly underground. The long, confusing tunnels and the plethora of traps deter her every move closer to the vault that lies at the center. This is exactly the sort of place Lup would have hidden the Pheonix Fire Gauntlet and this is exactly the sort of place that Lucretia intended to recover it.

Once Lucretia did step foot in the room, though? It was— this was definitely it.

Lucretia had been down a long road since the Bureau began losing Reclaimers. Hell, she'd been down a long road since before the Bureau had even been a thing. But more than other things in this nearly decade of hell she created for herself, the repeated loss of Reclaimer after Reclaimer made her hurt more than expected. She had enacted her plan to stop the countless deaths caused by these Relics and then here she was, adding to them in the name of justice only she could see.

She had to recruit the boys, somehow. It would make sense. But Lucretia couldn't stomach that kind of responsibility yet. If she lost them, too, to the thrall of the Relics they don't even remember making…? And with all they've been through. Merle… Taako…? Not to mention all the emotional turmoil Magnus had gone through this time. She couldn't do that. Not yet.

But it still left her Reclaimerless. And so, with a stiff upper lip and a hardy resolve, Lucretia decided that she would be the one on this Relic expedition. There had been objects, of course, and she couldn't deny the overwhelming amount of anxiety at the thought of dying and leaving her work unfinished. But what other choice was there? Lucretia promised that it would be over soon. It had to be over soon. She hadn't managed to wiggle her way into going alone, so Killian was accompanying her. After the puzzles Wave Echo Cave had thrown at them, she was glad Killian had chosen to come.

There was a large metal door on the far side of the room, which Lucretia knew she could get through with no problem. The room was otherwise deserted, except for the skeletal figure lying against the wall, staring at the metal door.

"Hey, uh, what's with the hold-up?" Killian asked when Lucretia stopped dead in her tracks. "Did we fin— oh, shit."

The skeleton had a hand curled around itself like it— like she had been injured. There wasn't any blood on the ground— there might have been once, maybe, but not anymore. It had been too long. The skeleton wore a cloak. A red cloak. And had a familiar weapon held up against her, only visible by the curved tip of the intricately carved handle.

"Is that—" Killian stepped to her side, squinting at the figure. She lowered her voice. "Is that, like, an actual Red Robe?"

Lup.

Lucretia had found her. And— and judging by the state of her, Lucretia had been the first to find her in a very, very long time. She still remembered the melancholy morning when she woke up to see the note left on the counter. Barry had found it first, having gotten up a while after Lup left due to the restless sleep they both shared. Davenport had woken up before her, then Taako, Magnus, Merle…

Probably went to go clear her head, Barry had said, in the way Lucretia knew he didn't fully believe his own words. She'll be back by tonight.

And then tonight had turned into tomorrow with no sign of Lup. Noon the next day sent Barry and Taako out on their first recon mission, but no one around them had seen her. After that, the days blended together. Taako and Barry were gone more often than not, Magnus listlessly paced the deck and Lucretia tried to ignore how he perked up every time the door the the ship opened, only to see it was Barry and Taako again, empty-handed. Davenport's restlessness grew, Merle's concerned attempts of reassurance fell flat.

Lucretia did what she had to do. And she wasn't proud of it. But now was her chance to make up for the years of heartache she had caused.

"Killian," Lucretia said, stepping further into the room. The Bulwark Staff made contact with the stone floor and the sound echoed. "Contact Base— tell them we've been able to find a Relic— the Gauntlet, presumably— and have someone ready a transfer sphere in the hanger for when we return."

"But—"

"Now, Killian," Lucretia said, kneeling next to Lup.

"What do I say about uhm," Killian paused, glancing between the Red Robe and Lucretia. Then, briefly, at the metal door. "The whole…" she waved a hand in the direction of Lup's skeleton. "Situation here."

"Nothing," Lucretia said. "This— she's long dead." Lucretia wanted to reach out and touch her, to ask her questions— though, it's not like Lup's soul was here anymore. This confirmed she was in lich form but where— where in lich form? Even has distant as she has made herself from Barry, he wouldn't hide finding Lup from her. Or, Lup finding him. But maybe he would…? Lucretia has been unimaginably hostile towards Barry's involvement in this. Would he keep this from her? Would Lup want him to?

Should she keep this from him?

"Gotcha," Killian said. "Okay, okay, so mention that we found— are about to find?— the Gauntlet, ask for transfer sphere, come back."

"Correct," Lucretia said. She surveyed the space around Lup, looking for a sign of what would have done her in— ah, and there was the blood. She had been injured— stabbed?— in the back. You needed Rockseeker blood to get in, Lucretia knew, but she had a few tricks up her sleeve to figure that out without having to interact with one of them. But if Lup hadn't? If she had had the Gauntlet with her when she sought out a guide through the cave, Lucretia would bet bottom dollar that the thrall had been too strong to resist.

Killian stepped out of the room once more, searching for a better signal. Lucretia tilted her head back, closing her eyes. Her throat felt too tight. She let out a sigh when she looked back down at Lup's form.

"I'm sorry," she said, taking the handle of the Umrbastaff and pulling it toward her. The skeleton shuddered for a second before collapsing into dust. The umbrastaff was still buzzing with magic as Lucretia held it up to inspect it. Lup wouldn't have left this here without reason. She must have been planning on coming back for it. Or, she had been waiting to see when someone would take it? If she was out there, and with Barry, somehow, or even by herself, there had to be some kind of plan involving leaving the umbrastaff here.

She lowered the umbrastaff, thinking. If Lup had a plan, she could only hope it was not to disrupt her own. Giving her back the umbrastaff would be a risk too great to take, though Lucretia didn't know if she could keep herself in that stance if she ever came face to face with Lup once more. Or, well, face-to-hood, with the whole Lich Thing. It was best if she kept it, only for a little while.

"It'll be over soon," she whispered. She tucked the umbrastaff under her arm, standing as Killian came back into the room.

Right now, she had to focus on retrieving the Gauntlet. She didn't know what kind of horrors lay beyond that door— if something from in there had killed Lup, or if Lup had set some kind of trap over the Gauntlet before dying. It required her full attention.

Once they were back at Base, she could focus on her next course of action. For right now, she was ready to face the last parting gift Lup had left.
