When your Mom thinks you’re a failure

Have you ever been in a situation when things are not going your way? When you feel like everyone in this world are against you? When you think a hundred times when and where did you go wrong? And when things are going worse, you think that even your mom thinks you are a failure?

I have thought of these things quite so long ago and I must admit until now, it comes through my mind. It hurts. It breaks my heart. I thought, what did I do wrong? And I just keep on holding on to one thing.. they said “when God doesn’t change the situation, maybe God wanted to change you.” I wonder what is it that I need to change. I wonder...

Life goes on, wether you understand it or not. Wether you are in a good shape or in a shape of losing. It’s a matter of how you look in life and who you hold on to. I pray that God gives me wisdom to fully understand this life. I am resentful in a wat that I do not understand. But what can I do? Think, do things on my own, is not even a solution. I hold on to you Lord.

To you mom..

I don’t know why I feel that you think I am a failure. Is it something to do with the past or something that you cannot tell me? I pray for a peace in your heart that one day, I will be able to understand. If I am a failure, I will get up. Gather myself together and think where did I go wrong. With the Lord’s help, I pray things will be in a smooth place. That things will fall in its right place in His time.

“Stranger Things”

Human : งานแสดงที่สะท้อนการเดินทางของเวลาผ่านกระจก ดนตรี และการร่ายรำ

น้อยครั้งนักที่เราจะได้เห็นการเต้นร่วมสมัย ศิลปะการจัดวาง (Installation Art) และดนตรีมารวมตัวกันในห้องเดียว

แต่ในทุกครั้งนั้น เรามักได้เห็นชื่อของ หลอดไฟ-นวินดา ปัจฉิมสวัสดิ์ นักเต้นและนักออกแบบท่าเต้นร่วมสมัยที่น่าจับตามองที่สุดคนหนึ่งแห่งยุค เช่น การแสดงชุด ‘Fractals (2015)’ ซึ่งผสมผสานการเต้นรำร่วมสมัยเข้ากับงานสถาปัตยกรรม

ล่าสุดเมื่อว��นที่ 30 มิถุนายน และ 1 – 2 กรกฎาคมที่ผ่านมา ในโอกาสครบรอบหนึ่งทศวรรษ Bangkok Design Festival นักเต้นสาวกลับมาอีกครั้งโดยจับมือกับ ปัว-ศาวินี บูรณศิลปิน พร้อมทีมสถาปนิกแห่ง thingsmatter และเพื่อนนักดนตรี ยู–ณัฐพล เลิศวนัสวงศ์ เพื่อสรรค์สร้าง ‘Human’ การแสดงร่วมสมัยว่าด้วยการเดินทางของเวลา ประสบการณ์ร่วมของมนุษย์ รวมทั้งการเกิดและดับที่เวียนวนไร้ที่สิ้นสุด

ในเวลาชั่วโมงกว่า เราตื่นตาไปกับการเคลื่อนไหวร่างกายของเหล่านักเต้น บานกระจกที่สะท้อนตัวตนหลายต่อหลายชั้นและดนตรีประกอบที่ปลุกเร้าอารมณ์ คล้ายชวนเชิญให้เราใคร่ครวญความหมายลึกลงไปกว่าสิ่งที่ตาได้เห็นและหูได้ยิน จนเราอดรนทนไม่ไหว ต้องขอเข้าไปดูและฟังกระบวนการคิดของงานชิ้นนี้โดยนักสร้างสรรค์ทั้งสามดูสักหน่อย

รวมศาสตร์และศิลป์ให้เห็นภาพชัด

หลอดไฟ: หลังจากจบด้านการเต้นร่วมสมัยจากเมลเบิร์น เราตัดสินใจว่าจะกลับมาอยู่ที่นี่ ก่อนกลับก็เลยไปแบ็กแพ็กรอบยุโรปคนเดียว อยากหาประสบการณ์ ใช้ชีวิต พอดีบังเอิญไปเจอพี่ที่เป็นสถาปนิกที่เบอร์ลิน เราก็เพิ่งเข้าใจว่า สถาปนิกไม่ได้สร้างตึกนี่หว่า เขามีความเป็นศิลปิน แต่ยังอยู่บนพื้นฐานของความจริงได้ เราชอบในจุดนี้เพราะมันสามารถดึงคนที่ไม่เข้าใจงานศิลปะมากๆ เข้ามาได้ เราเลยทำงานกับสถาปนิก เป็นงานเต้นที่มี object installation ให้คนดูเห็นภาพชัดๆ ว่าตอนนี้มันมี object นี้ สามารถเห็น space ได้แบบนี้ เคลื่อนไหวได้แบบนี้ แทนที่จะอยู่ในร่างกายเรา เป็นแค่ conceptual ที่เรารู้คนเดียว แต่สามารถยืดร่างกายออกมาเป็น object อื่นได้ด้วย เหมือนเรามีแขนขาเพิ่มขึ้นมา แล้วก็ให้คนดูได้เห็นอย่างอื่นที่ไม่ใช่แค่ movement

จากงานแรก ‘Fractals’ เราสนุกที่ได้ทำงานกับศิลปินที่ไม่ใช่สาย Fine Art มากๆ เลยทำต่อมาอีกเรื่อยๆ พอมาโปรเจกต์นี้ ทาง Bangkok Design Festival รู้จักสถาปนิกมากมาย ก็เลยจับให้เรากับสถาปนิกจาก thingsmatter มาทำ Human ด้วยกัน

ใช้กระจกสะท้อนการเดินทางของเวลา

หลอดไฟ: เราอยากพูดเรื่องการเดินทางของเวลา เพราะคุณยายเราเพิ่งเสีย เราสงสัยว่า แล้วคุณยายไปไหน เราเกิดมาจากที่เดียวกัน ด้วยความออร์แกนิกมาก แต่พอโตขึ้น มันผ่านช่วง man-made ซึ่งไม่ได้ออร์แกนิกแล้ว เรารับนู่นรับนี่เข้ามาปรับเปลี่ยนเป็นตัวตนของเราเอง ซึ่งทำให้มนุษย์ไม่เหมือนกันแต่เราก็ไปจบที่เดียวกันอยู่ดี สุดท้ายเราก็โปรยคุณยายกลับเข้าไปในดินเหมือนเดิม กลับเข้าสู่โลก สู่ความออร์แกนิกเหมือนเดิม

เราอยากใช้กระจกเพราะมันสะท้อนตัวตนของเรา อยากให้มีกระจกเยอะๆ เพื่อเล่าเรื่องราวการเดินทางของเวลา ตั้งแต่เราอยู่ในท้องแม่ ออกมา เติบโต แก่เฒ่า ตาย เราก็ทำการบ้านจากคนรู้จักและคนที่ทำงานด้วยกันในโปรเจกต์นี้ว่า เรื่องราวที่สำคัญกับเขามีอะไรบ้างและอยู่ในช่วงชีวิตไหน แล้วจับเอามาร้อยเรียงกัน แต่ละประสบการณ์ แต่ละความทรงจำจะอยู่ในกระจกแต่ละบาน คือตัวเราอยู่ในกระจกที่มันสะท้อนเข้าไป แล้วก็อยากให้มีโครงสร้างที่แขวนกระจกได้ พอแขวนแล้วมันเหมือนเราเรียงความทรงจำของเราก่อนตาย

ออกแบบกระจกให้เล่นด้วยได้

ปัว: เราคุยกันว่าสนใจจะใช้กระจก ทางทีม thingsmatter ก็เลยออกแบบเป็นโครงสร้างที่มีกระจกแขวนอยู่ แล้วเอากระจกออกมาใช้ได้ โดยเราดีไซน์ให้โครงสร้างโค้งนิดนึง เพราะเวลายืนคนเดียวในพื้นที่จะเห็นภาพสะท้อนเป็นตัวเราหลายๆ คน แล้วตัวโครงสร้างก็เลือกใช้ไม้ที่ดูบางๆ เวลาแสดงหรือเอากระจกออกมาใช้แล้วอยากให้โครงสร้างดูเหมือนหายไปเลย

จริงๆ กระจกอันนี้ไม่ใช่กระจก มันคือแผ่นแสตนเลส เราเลือกใช้เป็น mirror finish คือมีพื้นผิวแบบกระจกเงา แต่แข็งแรงกว่า เราเน้นความปลอดภัย เพราะถ้าใช้เป็นแก้วจริงๆ จะอันตราย

หลอดไฟ: ตัวกระจกค่อนข้างหนัก ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องบังเอิญ เพราะตอนคุยกันว่าจะใช้กระจก เราบอกสถาปนิกไปว่าเราอยากให้มันตั้งได้หลายระดับ เพื่อให้มันสะท้อนในระดับที่ไม่เหมือนกัน แต่เราไม่ได้ลงรายละเอียดมากกว่านั้น ในใจเราคิดแค่ว่ามันจะเบาแล้วกางขาออกมาสี่ขาได้ แต่สำหรับสถาปนิกเขาต้องทำออกมาให้เป๊ะที่สุด เขาคิดถึงความมั่นคง คิดถึงว่าจะเก็บอย่างไรให้สวยงาม เขาคิดแทนให้ ซึ่งเรารู้สึกดีมาก ถึงแม้กระจกจะออกมาหนักกว่าที่คิดไว้ แต่เพราะความหนักเราเลยได้ใช้มันในแบบที่ไม่คิดว่าจะได้ใช้ตอนแรก คือมันเหยียบได้ แบกได้ และมีความหนาที่เห็นชัดเจน ซึ่งเราว่ามันคือความวิเศษของการทำงานกับคนที่อยู่ละสาขา มุมมองเขากับมุมมองเราไม่เหมือนกัน แต่มันเซิร์ฟกันได้
