Overall I'm excited for the Total Drama revival but I hate that they're still sticking to the 13 episode format of the later seasons. Like they absolutely need to go back to having 26 episodes like the first three seasons. Like how the fuck are they supposed to properly develop 16 brand new characters in 13 episodes. Especially cause it's gonna be on HBO Max which is also where they put Young Justice season 4 and THAT had a full 26 episodes so like what's the big idea here. Ridiculous.

what exactly does bonnie change from loop to loop? i.e. how would their deteriorating mental state affect things as the group climbs the House, what things do they do to get different outcomes, how do they go about breaking the loops, etc.

1: iits a combo of their wish !! (which in this au is smth along the lines of "i wish for my friends and sister to be safe and happy!") with of course. combines with the collective wishes for vaugarde to be saved + siffrin's wish (which is why they still loop back at Euphrasie).thhey didnt wish properly but its just the phrasing and strong believing that got it redirected to them!fun!

2: ummm.bit unsure on this if im being honest? but for the deteriorating mental state uh..the group definitely picks up on it!! bonnie isnt an actor. they cant hide it well. and r probably generally more quick to get mad or snap at the party..they are.worried to say the least.sus route happens so easy here HELP.

i just finished drv3 first trial and i'm ugly sobbing. she just wnated to save everyone. she wnated everyone to live and be friends. her and shucihi were getting cllse. she never got to see him with his hat off. never got to look him directly in the eyes. he never got to hear her play piano. she should've lived they should've escaped together ans gotten married or not married and became best friends I DONT CARE either wya thhey deserved to escape and her execution was so brutal😭😭😭my babies i'm so sad. why did theh have to make the first trial the most heartbreaking. the scene of him standing in the piano room to clair de lune while kaede sat in the piano seat. i'm sobbitng. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS. at least in dr2 it waited til the second and last trials to make you cry. THIS ONE IT JUST JUMPED RIGHT IN!!

tsc kevjean made me sick. i’m so upset. the handholding, the face holding, the conspiratorial whispers, the blind faith (“kevin wouldn’t have sent me here if you were”, the denial (“i absolutely hate you” that neither of them believe), the jean’s first love of it all, kevin’s so gentle it’s blatant favouritism, the protective instincts (“be careful with him” vs “keep kevin’s name out of your ignorant mouth”), the betrayal and resent and mistrust but not being able to really feel it when the loves still there. i’m spiralling.

i'm genuinely not kidding when i say that tsc revolutionized kevin day. it's such a fascinating change to see him literally instantly flip that switch to go from panic mode to protect jean mode like that scene when they learn abt the deal w ichirous & then neil leaves is literally all i need to understand why despite everything & how much its cost him jean keeps loving kevin. and dont even get me STARTED on be careful with him thats so fuckign oh my god. kevin might not have been IN love with jean but thhey both love each other so fiercely its insane. my goodness. my god. jean i also would not kill myself if kevin day asked. i understand you my brother

To celebrate the onslaught of the holidays

There's a lot of talk about American justice, its vengeance driven policies; and substitutes like alternate resources, restoration and rehab. Two movies come to my mind when I think about the way restorative justice is used:

I am not kidding.

Now if you have been to my blog before then you'd probably expect me to drag Shrek the Third like a sack of wet gravel. Which is true but then, a sack of wet gravel is more entertaining. But do you know exactly WHY I don't like Shrek 3 and why I prefer TSC3? It lies with how these films handles its problems.

Charming lost everything including his mother but was able to find some support in the villains. Who btw, was depicted as a oppressed class with somewhat legitimate grievances with the status quo.

But it doesn't outweigh the bad: his new girlfriend babies him and only interested in being queen than actual loving him. Charming doesn't more moments to view his new faction as a new family. He doesn't challenge his own mother's toxic beliefs. No he gets crushed by a tower instead. Sure it was his own doing but there's no reflection on the heroes part. No "we could've saved him" or solemn, SOMETHING.

I'm Not saying the heroes should've forgiven Charming but they could've at least given him a proper burial! Or a scene where they actively help the villains the right way. The person who needed help the most gets killed in the most dumbest, most unsatisfying way. And then DreamWorks proceeded to not acknowledge his death at all. To say nothing about Artie and how his bullying was played for for meanspirited comedy, or how the rest of the villains were overshadowed in their own arc. The lack of compassion in thes situations makes the film's message ring hollow.

Despite having an entire season under his belt, all Jack Frost wanted his own holiday. It's nowhere near as dire as Charming's situation. You could say it's actually more selfish. Unlike shrek 3, when the say is saved the heroes confront Jack and...they iffer him another chance. Thhey talk DIRECTLY TO him, not down. The Santa Crew were able to understand/have empathy for Jack's situation. Lucy's kindness unfreezes him. Even more poignant earlier in the movie Jack froze her parents. And his timeline she became a spoiled brat. Yet despite what he's done she was willing to help Jack. It could've been so easy to destroy or banish him but they chose to restore him instead.

While the humor was REALLY cheesy, it wasn't as meanspirited and again, Jack is given a chance to heal. Heck, AU!Lucy is able to grow out of her meanness and help Calvin change things back. Both situations show that people aren't always born bad sometimes they're dealt have a bad hand in life

When the villain who had less sympathetic motives gets treated with more compassion, that's when you know you flubbed your message.

We don't always know what a person can be going through. A lot of times its much more worth helping them - if they choose it! But sometimes they can't choose. Sometimes they won't. But it doesn't hurt to try and it helps if you don't talk down to them, rather UNDERSTAND A THEM.

Overall Santa Clause 3 despite its flaws has a good message about the importance of compassion empathy and kindness, and moat importantly TRUE JUSTICE. Something shrek 3 could have done given its implications of hoe society demonizes people for their looks/deny criminals a chance to atone and rebuilt. But there wasn't just enough kindness and empathy in the story for that.

So it was released a while ago that Louis in the present day has new vampire boyfriend named Rashid who can be seen in the latest BTS footage in the background. I feel really weird about this. Why do I feel weird about this? I mean it's true I want endgame Loustat and I never really read about Louis getting a new lover other than Armand as his companion at different times. Am I forgetting something? Or do you think this is just part of the new drama? We won't know until season 3 minimum?

Yeah I get what you mean, I also prefer loustat obviously. But even in canon thhey take time apart and date other people, so I don't think Louis dating someone else means that loustat won't be endgame. I think based on what we have seen Rolin Jones ships it too. Louis is with Armand at the end of IWTV, it's implied he had a thing with Merrick even tho it was coerced, maybe some Louis/David (they do kiss so I think it is what AR intended even tho 🤢 and "i pretend not to see") and he goes back and lives with Armand after Merrick which some ppl see as Louis and Armand getting back toegther (I see it as Louis taking atrauma coma nap on Armand's couch). There's also just a lot of time in the books in between various events Louis could have seen other ppl as well. I don't think it's out of character

Honestly, I do kind of like the drama of them being away from each other and pining. It makes it that much more impactful when they do reunite (I can just see it now, I'm gonna write SO much pining fanfic 😭) Louis and Lestat sometimes have to go on seperate journeys to grow and change, but they always find each other in the end ❤

Introducing you to: Timothy!

He's an upcoming scholar who will discover and document every mystery of Teyvat! ...or, at least that's how he introduces himself. In reality, he's a mediocre student who just wants to learn. He's constantly in the library to read about stuff or ask Lisa to explain stuff to him. If he's not in the library, he's in the labs to observe Sucrose's and Albedo's work. Those two don't mind, having someone else document everything gives them more time to focus on the experiments. If Timothy's not in the Knight's headquarters, he's with Mona, asking her everything there is to ask about astrology. And while she usually doesn't mind, there are days she just wishes for him to be done with questions already. He has a real motor mouth, and absolutely no indoor voice. And if he wants to know something, he won't rest until he got that information!

To explain, he got diagnosed with both autism and ADHD. He can focus for hours, or not longer than five minutes, which is stressful for everyone. Timothy knows he's a handful, that's why he wants to learn so much, so he can be helpful for a lot of things. He's often envious of others, like the knights or his best friends, who all seem to have found their purpose in life already. And since he loves learning so much, he hopes his purpose could be related to it. Two things he loves more than anything else: Astrology and Keys. Really though, give him a pretty key, even when it doesn't fit any lock, and he'll be on cloud nine. Even more so if it is a key wrapped in wire and transformed into a necklace, maybe even with some other little extras. This led to him having quite the collection of keys and astrology-related accessories. Which he never wears, just owns.

Timothy possess an Anemo Vision, but no weapon. Jean tried to teach him, but he proved to be bad with all of them. And after he almost murdered Kaeya by accident (shot an arrow and was horribly off aim), it was decided he'd better leave the weapons alone. So he learned to heal, again, to be somewhat useful should it ever come to a fight. His friend group consist of the squad Bennett, Klee, Razor and Venti. And those five are Jean's worst nightmare, because everything that could go wrong with them goes wrong, and then some more! But Timothy would not change anything about his friends, and not give them up either. All of them have something that makes them irreplaceable to him, and he needs them all.

Yes, 14 year old girls bully other 14 year old girls, but then they grow up and realise they were just insecure the whole time. Also, Chloe's situation of being neglected by her mum and misunderstood by her peers is heccin sad, and maybe more relatable to members of the show's audience than Marinette's ridiculously perfect life. Girls don't need to be fed the idea that if they aren't great, kind, awesome people from the get-go, regardless of their situation, then they are screwed over, awful people and will never deserve anything!

STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER DOESN'T ALWAYS MEAN THE WHOLLY PURE AND GOOD. WELL-WRITTEN FEMALE CHARACTER NEVER MEANS THAT!

So the book implies that that string-garotte thing Jiggy does with his hostage is actually a Lan technique. Specifically technique developed by Lan Yi to assassinate dissidents during her tenure as Sect Leader. Therefore I desperately NEED fic where Lan Xichen introduces Meng Yao to Lan Yi and grows increasingly concerned as thhey bond over best ways to murder political opponents, especially ones you are related to.

(Inspired by wonderful Russian short fic where Lan Yi orchestrated deaths of her siblings to ascend to position of Sect Leader and is implied to have created Song of Turmoil, which is such galaxy brain take)

One of the things I find really satisfying about the Untamed/MDZS is that all the sects have some core principle that they believe will lead to a good life, not just for them but for everyone, and all their problems come from overadherence.  It’s like that post about how the Avatar nations run into problems because, lacking balance, they’re too far into their own natures to manage their world.

The Lans believe in regulation--both in the adjective and the noun form.  If you follow the rules and do everything as methodically as possible, you will live a good life and so will the people you’re responsible for.  The extreme example of this, of course, is Lan Xichen, who was so rule-abiding and so methodical that he missed the boat on every opportunity to stand up for what was right.

The Nie believe in strength, in being able to literally defend yourself and your people from all threats and dangers.  The nature of their cultivation means that they’re littered with extreme examples, but in the narrative it’s Nie Mingjue--he was murdered, to be sure, but uncontrolled strength was such an expected part of the Nie leader that no one thought twice about why he was getting worse, not better.  See also, strength being aligned with revenge, and the obvious link to Nie Huaisang, even if he goes about it in a nontradtional Nie way.  (Actually kind of a Jin way, all things being equal.)

The Jiang believe in--shooting for the moon, basically.  Wei Wuxian and all his collateral damage are a good extreme example, since a rocket designed to reach the moon is liable to do a lot of damage if and when it explodes on the launch pad.  So is Jiang Cheng, who spent his entire life trying to be his foster brother instead of himself, and made himself and pretty nearly everyone else miserable for it.

The Jin believe in control, and hear me out here, that’s not necessarily a bad thing!  The watchtowers are a genuinely good idea!  It’s the difference between training a dog and using a choke chain--both are controlling your dog, but, A, one makes you a good dog owner and the other makes you a bastard, and, B, one means that dog is liable to bite you hard at the first opportunity.  In this argument, obviously, Jin Guangyao’s manipulations and lies are the choke chain.

Public opinion turns fast, but not that fast unless you have legitimately wronged some people, okay.  Control is fine, but damn those abuses come thick and fast when someone decides to fuck with it.

And the Wens...we don’t actually know that much about what the Wens are into, but I think they believe in mechanics.  Understanding the mechanics of a body, the mechanics of a war, the mechanics of a golden core.  Wen Ruohan can’t have won his position exclusively on might, he must have had some real comprehension of the mechanics of politics too.  Wen Xu, who knows how to run a blitzkrieg attack, understood the mechanics of war.  Wen Zhuliu and Wen Qing understood the mechanics of golden cores and bodies.  Even Wen Ning has an exactingly precise grasp of the mechanics of the power dynamics and alliances around him at any given moment.  Wei Wuxian also has some of this, but that’s another ramble about the people who change the cultivation world being the people who don’t force themselves to align with a single sect’s methodology.

Anyway, my point to this whole highly distractible ramble was that Meng Yao and his intensely control-based excesses meeting Lan Yi, who one assumes was something of a Lan wild card, more like Lan Wangji rather than Lan Xichen, bound and determined to stick to her rules until she decided something else mattered more, would be.  Very interesting.
