i LOVE the body language in cats. like the way they put the kittens on the ground mostly while all of the adult cats stand. like the kittens know to respect the adults so the ground is where they stay put (also maybe in their case, makes them easier to look after?)
(there are some differences in the second pic in who is standing or crawling, but you get the picture)
however, when they need to show reverence, ALL of the cats are on the ground. getting on all fours is kind of a sign of respect and knowing your place, like how people might bow, nod, or lower their heads when talking to someone of importance/higher rank than them
like in these you can see the adult cats are also on the ground! and notably they are in direct reaction to old deuteronomy or gus, who are very respected in the tribe
i dont know. i like this a lot more than just saying "oh theyre cats they walk on all fours duh" yanno
more rambling below
bustopher jones & skimbleshanks are also very respected cats, but not many cats sit during their numbers. i think its mostly just where they are younger (in comparison to old deut & gus anyways) and also not in any leadership position. they are honored enough for cats to listen intently and interact, but they are not yet to the ranks of old deuteronomy or gus in reverence.
also i think they just want to be interacted with!! they are perfectly fine not being sat down for; they are here to have a good time with their family and friends that they may not have seen in a while!
p.s. this is just my hcs; but i feel like tugger always standing even if he respects old deuteronomy enough to bow shows his place in the tribe. munkustrap and tugger are the only cats Not crawling for old deuteronomy when he shows up. idk. theyre so very brothers and also so very much old deuts sons to me
#cats the musical#cats musical#cats 1998#rum tum tugger#old deuteronomy#gus the theatre cat#i mention them enough for name tags. this is mostly a shoutout to them#id tag bustopher & skimble tooo but that feels like a lot for one mention in a silly post

Your opinion on Black Raisin x Caramel Arrow?
awaaghuifdasf i love these girls so much
its all about the aesthetic and narrative for me. two strong women who fight for survival and would do anything to protect their fellow comrades. two warriors who had a hard upbringing without the luxury of riches or good fulfilling meals that other kingdoms/tribes might have had. two soldiers who look up to a king and follow in their footsteps because they want so badly to fight the good fight and to make the world a better place for everyone around them.
your honor theyre in love. caramel arrow visits the vanilla kingdom and kisses black raisin real not clickbait 3am challenge. oh to live such a hard and strenuous life and to fight every day for your own life just to find another who shares the same tribulations and to find comfort in that. to find common ground in that. to find someone you can relate to on such a personal and intimate level because you know a lot of the people around you cannot relate to that. to be able to open up to someone and be genuine with them because they are so genuine themselves and will understand you more than anyone else ever could. fuck me silly i would die for these two tbh. pls appreciate caramelraisin more. please i beg

Hello, hope youre ok!, I'm trying to flesh out my Shadowscale argonian oc a bit more and I was wondering if you have like any headcanons/theories about the shadowscales? he uesp doesn't really have that much info on them. Also a more specific question: Do you think a shadowscale can just go " you know what this isn't for me" and just walk out of the order? my oc kinda does that but im not sure iif its entirely lore friendly. Hope you have a great day/night! love your oc's!
i havent had many organized hc posts (heres a couple where i write about them) and also a bit of writing thats clunky and bad exposition but
[link] [link]
but yeah my basic hc for them is that theyre a quasi-religious order thats somewhat culturally isolated from other argonians, both due to being made up of children taken at birth from various tribes and bc of their connections with the dark brotherhood.
they are still very modern argonian in most of their sensibilities, but their connection to sithis has SOME echos of pre-duskfall argonian civilization. unlike the dark brotherhood, they dont see sithis as a blood god, but as an agent of change- other argonians honor sithis through birth, shadowscales honor sithis through death. tho due to their cultural semi-isolation, shadowscales tend to conceptualize sithis as SOMEWHAT of a god, while other argonians across most of the tribes tend to see sithis as a non-sentient force of nature
ALSO yeah its established in canon via this guy that shadowscales DO NOT allow desertion. they arent allowed to kill their own but the penalty is death. which.. idk current argonian lore establishes them as tending to be culturally forgiving (not necessarily on a person to person basis). so how id interpret it is the penalty IS death, but they dont always contract someone to go after you. if you evade them its kind of like “ok whatever” and youre let off.
#also the bit of writing about the 'king' thing is mega not canon and i think theres some#in series contradictions but like#i THINK its a decent interpretation bc in-series we see that the black marsh#like does not have a central govt and even though a king is mentioned#theres never any details WHATSOEVER about them so i choose to interpret that as#actually being a euphemism#though the an-xileel become a semi centralized govt post oblivion crisis#jane-57821#argonians

I love the implication that Amy doesn't keep Sonic's impulses in check like Tails and Knuckles do
The hedgehogs are terrible influences on each other /pos 🫶
In my head, Tails combined with either Knuckles OR Amy could convince Sonic out of most anything if they tried hard enough. However, if both Sonic AND Tails are trying to do something impulsive and dangerous?? That's a truly unstoppable force.

Scream about MCD to me
HEY BITCH MCD TIME
ok. ok ok ok i Cannot Stop thinking abt s1 garroth, laurence, and dante interacting after all the shit with the wolf tribes n pikoro village n all that shit
like. like i am Screaming ok
remember back in the neopolitan villages when garroth was all jealous abt laurence flirting with aphmau constantly? well i like to imagine that after that laurence makes a point to jokingly flirt with him ALL OF THE TIME. and he eventually gets used to it and they just kinda jokingly flirt back n forth
so when dante arrives and theyre all like hangin out n shit when laurence goes up to garroth and says “wow hi sexy” and garroth, this normally stoic, shy dude responds with “morning gorgeous” he almost spits out his drink
AND. IMAGINE THEM PLAYING CARD GAMES. god laurence would keep trying to look over garroths shoulder to see his cards and dante would be so fuckin stiff abt the Honor Code Of Go Fish and smack him every time
and YKNOW I JUST. imagine them playing pranks on each other too like
laurence would b the best at it ofc, i bet he n cadenza pranked each other constantly back in meteli so hes a MASTER and garroth n dante fuckin HATE IT theyre so jealous of his skills
garroth would suck so bad at it. i bet since hes used to wearing his helmet all the time he CANNOT hide his emotions for SHIT so hed be grinning and half giggling like “cmon dante. take a bite out of that totally normal not spiked with chili peppers cookie cmon just do it” and it never fuckin works
also my entire life is dedicated to the idea that they have “sleepovers”. like yeah they all live in the guard area n shit BUT occasionally theyll all get together and pile up pillows n blankets and just. hang out. they talk and play truth or dare and just. cries and cries an
anyways every day of my life is dedicated to these fuckers hanging out and its all i ever think abt i have such STRONG brainrot i stg
thank u rory for indulging me in my hcs youre a king lov u
#FUCK i just#them. them#mcd#asks#rory tag#srry if any of this doesnt line up with the canon but the canon also has aarmau as a main canon ship so like#and im only at like episode 75 in my rewatch so !!! myb im wrong with some shit!!! but fuck that let these guards b happy pls

WEEK 10: MAORI House Post Figure
Model meeting house made of wood. The roof is made from strips of bark. Made by Ngati Raukawa. British Museum
Below the “keep reading” link are all of the questions & comments I’ve received, and I will add more as they come in. I’ve added in a few notes of my own, and will sum things up on Friday. Then, next week, we’ll do the same process (Mon. information; Wed. questions; Friday summary) with Maori tattoos. The week after that we will circle back to the House Post figure and then wrap up the class.
If you have any questions or concerns for me, I’m available by email and twitter, and would be willing to talk via Zoom (or Teams) if necessary.
Your Questions & Comments:
After reading that the wharenui is a meeting place for social things, cultural things, and religious things. It made me think that it's a sort of combination of a church or community lodge where people come and celebrate their culture and religion.
I really like the point here that social, religious, and cultural things are all a part of the community and its collective identity. I think that’s one of the most important things art does -- art forms and styles are deeply embedded in and expressive of cultural and community identities. This is true of lots of things that aren’t necessarily called “Art” but are still art: food and cooking; clothing and personal grooming; language; sports and games and hobbies.
In reading the links posted on the blog today regarding the Wharenui and the other Maori meeting houses, I couldn't help but think about how they have similar symbolism to that of European architecture, specifically in the churches. It reminded me of how Christian churches are shaped to resemble a cross, just as the Wharenui built their houses to represent parts of the human body. It shows that they put their emphasis on their multiple ancestors and their stories, whereas in European architecture most places of worship are based on one person, being Jesus. My question is: Are these meeting houses based on individual family ancestors (like a grandparent), or are they based on famous ancestors to the different tribes of the Maori people?
Yes -- Christian churches have their own symbolism. Not only do a lot of them use the cross shape, but the original form is based on a kind of Greco-Roman building called a “basilica” that was used for public buildings, especially law courts.
The Wharenui reflect both a broad cultural tradition and local traditions. They are part of a local community which is like an extended family, as well as a regional and national and cultural community.
Analogy: our college sports teams and our gym & fields; those of other colleges in our specific regional conference; those of all the NCAA Division III colleges; those of the other NCAA Divisions. All the way up, they are the same, but our local community identities are the strongest and most intense. (I’m not saying college hoops and March Madness are like religion or anything, but I know some people who might.)
I noticed within the diagram it shows how some of the features within the architecture has symbolic meaning such as the posts separating earth and sky. In the article I read about the mythology and the outside being the house of the God of war and speeches being more forceful; it makes me wonder if there are different God's for different sections. Connecting other mythology, I know there are actual God's for the sky and earth so do they recognize the same, have different names for the same symbols, or only recognize in particular ones?
I really enjoyed the reading you posted for today's class to help us get a better background on the culture behind Maori Art. My question connects to the Maori mythology and the importance of ancestors. Are their different house post figures for each god that is symbolized by parts of the Marae? The reading on Marae protocol states that the courtyard outside the meeting house is the domain for the god of war, so does that mean there is a house post located at the courtyard with carvings of that god? If so was the domain of Rongo, the god of peace adorned with house posts that resemble him?
My general sense is that the various parts of the building are analogous to the various aspects of the world and universe as the Maori see them. It’s very common for people to compare their social structures to the structure of the universe. We saw this in the art of Benin and of the Dogon and Bambara peoples. It would take some work, but we can see it in the Chinese culture, and in our own as well.
The Maori also extend the symbolism of the Meeting House in other ways. Here is an example of how a person’s wellbeing is like a Meeting House:
When I was looking at the house I began to wonder what type of wood they would have been working with to build such beautiful architecture and so I searched up what would have been native to that region and discovered that there were a lot of different types of trees they could have used to build the funeral home (Maere).
Cool. Could you share a link to that information, please?
I find it interesting that Wharenui's are a meeting place but also symbolize the human body in structure. It shows the connection to the body and mind connecting and living in unity. It also shows that the human body is a work of art which this culture acknowledges and surrounds themselves with by living in art as well.
Well said. And we’ll see how that works when we move ahead to Maori tattoos next week.
I personally think that the Maori meeting house in Rotura is pretty cool. I think its amazing how every piece in this piece of architecture means something, but my question is what do the geometric shapes mean in the interior? or do they mean something? Or are they just theyre for decorative purposes?
I wish I knew, but I don’t. This article is a start, but I’d like to know more.
I’d like to see the houses for Te Kooti to see the similarities and differences in the styles between carvings and paintings. I also thought it was interesting that multiple families would live in one home and share community cook houses. That’s pretty far from the way I’d say that current western society prizes private positions. The idea of the columns separating earth and sky is conceptually close to the verticality in dogon art representing the earth and the universe. Excellent point! Sometimes it’s hard for me to come up with a specific question so I hope that talking about what I think is interesting counts. It does, yeah, absolutely! I feel like this class helps us see the things that all human cultures do and value and have in common.
The questions below are all about traditions & ancestors.
So I’ve been noticing that with all the things we’ve learned about so far, people have continued them as traditions. Will there ever be a point in time that we stop the traditions and stop honoring our ancestors?
A question I had is mainly about the video and how the woman spoke about a specific way you have to put on a cloak on the coffin and part of me wonders who started this tradition and why they believe that it can only be this way? Do they believe the spirit will not be able to rest if they do it any other way? What other traditions d they have that are similar to this one? What does the Cloak look like?
Wanted to make a comment on Mondays post comparing the meetings that the Maori and the Benin people with they're funeral ceremonies. it is very interesting how the two tribes respect death very differently. like how the Benin people do a whole ceremony for the elders of the tribe and not just one person and usually takes place in the field. The Maori people have building where they usually hold multiply events but are most common for funerals, where they pay their respects for one person.
So, speaking very broadly, traditions are ways of preserving culture and cultural identity. “We are us, because we do things this way.” This happens in families, extended families, and at every level of a society.
(I’m thinking right now about how many traditions are being affected by the pandemic situation -- religious holidays like Easter and Passover and Ramadan are all happening in different ways this year.)
Part of our cultural identity is also our ancestors -- the people who started the traditions, the people we remember through our traditions. This is true for “advanced” societies like ours and for all human societies throughout history. If you have questions about how all this works, you should read about or take a course in anthropology.
After watching the video of the woman talking about the Marae, I learned that funeral ceremonies are done in a very specific way. Rules and traditions are strictly followed and only certain people may be allowed to perform certain tasks. I understand the importance of keeping tradition, especially in a ceremony such as a funeral, but how come the Marae is so strict? It seems like nothing at all is allowed to go a little bit differently.
I’m going to say that whereas our culture in American tends to value originality and experimentation, many other cultures value consistency and respect for the past. That was definitely true for China, though we didn’t really emphasize it, and it’s even more so for indigenous cultures -- especially those who have been suppressed or oppressed. For many people today, hanging on to traditional ways is a defense against the loss of cultural identity.

Hi, I really like your blog! I re-watched atla in the last couple days after a long time and realized again how awesome it is Maybe you get that question often but which is your favorite scene? (Mine is in S3E17 when theater-toph shows how he 'sees')
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH i always get irrationally happy when i hear ppl say they enjoy my blog and also when i hear them say they rewatched atla i hope this show reached cult status one day and 20 yrs from now on when s/o says they never watched atla theyll get shocked looks in return shortly followed by the question HOW COULD YOU NOT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
anYWAY i think i answered a similar question before but this is giving me the perfect excuse to procrastinate studying and to talk in unnecessary length about atla which are 2 out of my 3 favourite things to do. also i know u only asked me for ONE scene but i drank like 8 cups of tea the past 3 hours and im feeling v enthusiastic right now so i’m gonna make a list of my top 5 fav scenes
#5 im 100% in agreement with ur choice of fav scene and actually the entire ember island players episode is PURE GOLD and lbr ask ANY atla fan and they can quote at least 2 lines out of there perfectly. honorable mention to “HOW could you POSSIBLY say that!” and THE SCAR IS NOT ON THE WRONG SIDE!
#4 the boiling rock azula vs mai and ty lee showdown holy shit that was life-changing sokka and co. in mortal peril all seems lost and appa isnt there this time to bust them out of those kind of situations and then MAI COMES TO THE RESCUE with one of the most elegant and memorable entrances ever “What are you doing?” “Saving the jerk who dumped me.” kick my ass mai!!!!. and then later we get ANOTHER incredible line delivered I GUESS YOU DONT KNOW PEOPLE AS WELL AS YOU THINK YOU DO. YOU MISCALCULATED. I LOVE ZUKO MORE THAN I FEAR YOU lmao girl dont we all and then we see azula LOOSING HER COOL tbh i dont think that happened before that scene and theyre getting ready to FIGHT EACH OTHER and i wouldve loved to see that and lbr azula prob wouldve kicked mai’s ass bc it’s azula but holy hecking heck man that wouldve been amazing but of course then we get TY LEE!!!! TURNING ON AZULA!!! CHOOSING MAI OVER AZULA!!! holy shit man i was going !!!!!! when i first saw that scene wee 13-y/o me did not see this coming at all and then when i rewatched it a few weeks later it was SO OBVIOUS that they were going for this all along and what im saying is a) Mai is a Queen and i adore her and 2) everyone needs to get on board of the mai/ty lee submarine with me bc that shit is Real and There
#3 ok so im totally gonna cheat this one and just say EVERYTHING SOKKA EVER SAYS bc i couldnt possibly narrow it down i’d be doing a disservice to this character and this show if i did but some favourites include the random SCREAMING IN CAPSLOCK!!! he sometimes does like “i’m going to take my vacation…. AT THE LIBRAREEEEH!!!” and “i knew it was only a matter of time…. APPA ATE MOMO!!!” and “can your science explain why it rains?”“YES! YES IT CAN!” “MUSHY GIANT FRIEND!!!!” and ofc “WATER TRIBE” which actually was NOT a Patented Capslock Sokka Scream but def deserves to be mentioned
#2 “My first girlfriend turned into the moon.” - “That’s rough, buddy.” Iconic. Legendary. Immortal. Put It On My Damn Gravestone.
#1 the scene in The Desert where the gaang meets the sandbenders and toph says recognises one of them of being the one to kidnap appa and to muzzle him and aang goes you muzzled appa?! like. this fucking scene still gets my heart racing EVERYTIME and mumbling holy shit under my breath like u fucked up real bad sandman buddy and then aang is so angry and in pain he goes into the avatar state and everyone is running away in fear but katara stays by his side and reaches out for him and pulls him back and aang is crying and the screen fades to white this scene destroyed me unchallenged number one always and forever
#honourable mention goes to 'do you really think friendship can last more than one life-time?' 'i dont see why not'#gaang-bonding moments kill me everytime#answered#anonymous

Will Kundalini Awaken If You Consume Animals?
Will it stunt the access to higher consciousness, dimensions, and ascension process?
Here I have compiled very interesting and insightful perspectives:
-
• We know that Native American tribes have and most indigenous tribe are paleo based. The natives which I’ve heard from my historical backtracking, always give gratitude and honor for the life they consume but I think it was mainly in times of scarcity. As you may remember in school or researched, before take over by Columbus there was an incredible abundance of cattle which were all slaughtered even for fun by the Columbus crew :(
Jason Lamonte: honor and love, thank the spirit of anything you consume or inhale for allowing you to take in its energy to heal yourself with, so you may better aid in healing others with the same energy. Any “toxins” or “poisons” even radiation can be transmuted through spirit alchemy. Free the soul of the animal you consume if you do eat meat, make an affirmation prior and bless the animal for giving its life, and make a pact that it’s spirit and soul is liberated from the lower planes upon your consumption of it. :) Do as thou wilt
Noah Gambescia: Vegetarianism/veganism isnt a prerequisite for ascension, growth or enlightenment. It does help the process but isnt an absolute prerequisite That being said its encouraged to stop or reduce red meat and pork, the least damaging meats are chicken and fish
Stanislav Daganov: Noah, what’s the big difference between mammals and birds?
Noah Gambescia: I had a hard time believing it at first but I’ve been told more than once by higher dimensional beings that small birds and fish dont actually have souls. Like they have a consciousness, naturally, but not an individual self-aware fractal of God source that has its own identity and memories of past lives. For instance a chicken or salmon will not reincarnate after death, they are extensions of nature, living beings but not avatars inhabited by a soul and higher self.
Mammals however have souls, so pork and cows and such. As far as small birds and fish are concerned, no individual souls, theyre essentially biological robots
So while its better to eat no meat altogether, at least with chicken and seafood youre not eating a fellow soul which is essentially spiritual cannibalism. Beware of GMO poultry and seafood

• I have felt like this as well, This is what it seems to be like with pidgeons and fishbin my current resonating perception. But idk.
Dån Trîfan: I had my experience 2 weeks after quitting meat for the first time. I’m sure it had a lot to do with it. Haven’t touched flesh since.

Gabriel Grey: I’ve tried to give up meat but it makes me really weak/sick feeling after awhile. I still consume poultry/fish, and have drastically cut back on red meats and pork. I never noticed a difference in spirituality/kundalini based off of my diet, but everybody works alittle differently
• We must take into account always, the biochemical individual metabolic types we have, ethnic primal pattern dieting (see Paul Chek’s data) we may need to cycle on having meat sometimes.

Clayton Masterson: Eating animals with highly developed emotional systems will indeed slow down spiritual progress. Fish and eggs seem to be fine, but make sure the eggs are cage free, and free range if possible.
Well as there is no way to measure spirit period, I would say no, there is no really objective criteria, but it has been my personal experience and that of many others which seems to verify it. From my experience it has to do with the suffering of the animal that one takes on into ones own spirit when consuming most animal flesh.
I would say that this does not apply to traditional hunting and gathering people as they live in harmony with their ecology, and they are part of a single unit.

Mark Amaru Pinkham: A vegetarian diet has been promoted by the ancients because it is the most “sattvic” and readily assists transformation. Such a diet assists the seeker from becoming too rajasic - too worldly and aggressive - and it also moves and awakens energy, including the Kundalini. However, many Enlightened Ones have reached their goal with a diet that includes meat. If you live in a northern, cold climate, consuming meat might become essential to stay warm and healthy. But such a diet will not prevent Kundalini awakening or the process of alchemical transformation.
• Sattvic diet is meant to include food and eating habit that is “pure, essential, natural, vital, energy-containing, clean, conscious, true, honest, wise”.[2][3]
Sattvic diet is a regimen that places emphasis on seasonal foods, fruits, dairy products, nuts, seeds, oils, ripe vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and non-meat based proteins.[4] Some Sattvic diet suggestions, such as its relative emphasis on dairy products, is controversial.[5]
Sattvic diet is sometimes referred to as yogic diet in modern literature. In ancient and medieval era Yoga literature, the concept discussed is Mitahara, which literally means “moderation in eating”.[4][6] (Wikipedia)

• Yes, I believe it is all about balance. Awakenings, enlightened ones (lol) have reached their goals via balance. Adaptation, being truly in tune, not identified with the lower attachments to satisfy pleasure, not emanating from an imbalance such as emotional eating. Love this info on the Ayurvedic perspective. I also live in a colder climate perhaps meat is a staple right now for maintenance in this environment. The Eskimo’s thrive off tons of meat and animal fats. (My own consumption is relatively small when it comes to meats. As a bodybuilder I typically get my protein source from eggs and whey proteins, hydrolized/isolates. A bodybuilding diet style will help anyone become refined and tuned into what their body really needs and when it needs it. Moreover, sungazing + sleeping on the Earth will tune on faster :)

Here are awesome words from internationally renowned expert in corrective & high performance exercise kinesiology, holistic Health coach Paul Chek:
I became a vegetarian for the second time a few years ago when my soul guided me to remove all fish, meat, and eggs from my diet. I was guided to eat that way for exactly one year to the day.
This process helped me:
1. Deeply clean myself 2. Develop greater intuitive clarity 3. Evolve in my practices as a shaman 4. Practice what I preach, let go of any dogma, and trust that my soul only knows Love and Truth. 5. Study the effects of a vegetarian diet on my body and mind, and how that diet affected workouts like heavy weight training and rock lifting. I learned so much about myself:
I had to eat a significantly increased amount of beans and legumes. My body also wanted a lot of nuts that previously gave me intolerance reactions. I noticed that when I was a vegetarian, I could eat many things that I couldn’t eat while also eating meat.
I found it MUCH harder to keep muscle mass on. Hard workouts took a noticeably longer time for me to recover from (remember, this is me, and shouldn’t be misread to indicate that all vegetarians will have this response). The harder I trained, the more careful I had to be to get plant foods with high protein and fat content in them or I could watch myself disappearing!
My sex drive diminished significantly, particularly in the last several months of the one-year stint.
6. Cultivate a greater empathy and compassion for others. My feeling nature seemed to be more feminine in general.
The Macrobiotic Diet I have studied the printed works of Annemarie Colbin, author of Food and Healing, The Book Of Whole Meals and others. I have also studied the works of Michio Kushi, on of the pioneers of macrobiotic dieting in the US. Both of them have excellent information to offer that I’ve included as part of my basic HLC training after exploring them in my own life. This way of eating would be more akin to what Bill Wolcott refers to as a carb type.
After I was most recently a vegetarian, my soul guided me to add eggs and fish to my diet. At this time, I followed the macrobiotic approach as a general theme for six months. Then my soul directed me back to eating meats that worked well for me on an as needed basis.
I found that my recovery from exercise, and my general capacity to handle stress improved. By now, my body really needed the extra nutrients available on a macrobiotic approach that were hard to get with a strict vegetarian approach. Again, this is my individual experience and not a suggestion that everyone will respond this way. That said, my observations about myself fit the pattern I see in my patients.
Metabolic Typing Paul eating according to his Metabolic Type.I studied Bill Wolcott’s version of metabolic typing (MT) for several years on my own and in my clinical practice. I also studied many other MT pioneers’ work to explore the differences, and there are a number of them.
In the Wolcott system, I tested out to be a strong protein type, with sympathetic dominance. I ate that way for a long time, but found that I started to have symptoms of excessive protein in my diet, such as aching in my joints, decreased digestive ability, slowing of bowel transit and retention times, craving sweets, etc.
I had to move to eating more as a mixed type to balance.
Then I found that even that was too much flesh food on some days, and I began eating as a carb type. My body seemed to want/need something from each of the MT diet types at different times of the day, week, or month depending on internal and external environmental factors.
So where does that leave me?
No Rules and Inner Guidance or “Flex-a-tarian” Dieting In synthesis, my whole approach boils down to meeting your individual needs.
This requires that you have access to your instincts, intellect, imagination, and intuition. If you don’t, you’re more likely to follow diet dogmas and end up needing the help of a Chek HLC Practitioner – someone with adequate experience and an open-minded approach to help you balance and heal.
What is Flex-a-tarian Dieting? 1. Genetic Individuality
Each person has genetic individuality. Your genetic needs are greatly influenced by your parents’ genes. Your genetic origins can range from desert dwelling people where there is often little big game to eat and high plant consumption is the norm, to Eskimos who eat 90% of their diet as flesh and fat. Each of us can fall anywhere on that scale.
You may have one parent that does well on very little meat, and another whose roots are Scandinavian where long winters and a frozen ground meant meat was essential for survival and therefore programmed into their genes. And any individual may emulate one parent more strongly in their dietary needs, or express any variation within the range of their ancestry.
2. Stress Factors
Stress of any physical, emotional or mental nature can significantly change an individual’s dietary needs. If your dietary pattern is too fixed, you can eat yourself deeper into a potential illness/disease state. If you are in touch with your instincts and not stuck in a diet dogma, you’ll adapt naturally to dietary changes.
If you take most any vegetarian into a gym, start loading them and increasing the rate of protein destruction, they are very likely to crave meat because meat is a high protein/fat source that supports most people’s genetic needs easily. Weston A. Price showed clearly in his book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration that there were no “healthy vegetarian tribes to be found in the world”. Whenever he found one that seemed pretty healthy, there were healthier meat eating tribes nearby.
In his excellent book, Metabolic Man: Ten Thousand Years from Eden (The Long Search for a Personal Nutrition From our Forest Origins to the Supermarkets of Today) Charles Heizer Wharton offers an analysis of the efficiency of gatherers vs. hunters for meeting their needs. He shows that hunting for meat is more efficient and therefore, more likely to support life.
3. Individualized Eating
We all have an obligation to ourselves, to each other, and to the planet.
If we aren’t wise enough to teach our younger generations about life, how it works, and what we must do to support Mother Nature so she can continue to support us in our own growth and development, then our problems are sure to escalate.
After 30 years of committed study in the profession of Holistic Health, I’ve come to the conclusion that eating with the conscious intention of feeding your body what legitimate organic plant and/or flesh foods it needs is what it takes to be healthy.
Only healthy people can make healthy decisions as a general rule. Only healthy people are open minded enough to keep themselves healthy and not participate in dogmas that may sound good, but really just suppress our natural instincts and don’t actually create health.
FOR ME, it all boils down to this.
If I am to be part of the healing process, to be sensitive to what is needed by both humanity and by Mother Nature, and feel safe that I can trust my instincts, I must be healthy.
If I am to have enough life-force energy to actively create my dreams and share my wisdom with those that may benefit from it, I can’t afford to save a chicken or a cow if it means that my own health will suffer.
If I continue to be a vegetarian when my body tells me to do otherwise, how long will it be before I don’t have the energy to even ring the bell of animal abuse, recycling, water consciousness, or food awareness? While I’m saving a few chickens and cows, I risk diminished health and vitality, and therefore available energy to be the change.
I love all life in nature. I love all animals.
I also love myself enough to know that nature designed each and all to participate in a natural balancing act called “Life”.
Eat to Balance Your Body-Mind So there it is.
I have no diet dogma.
-
My foundational principle is to learn to feel what your body needs and feed it wisely.
-
-
This is exactly what I teach in my book How To Eat, Move and Be Healthy! my ebook The Last 4 Doctors You’ll Ever Need, as well as my Primal Pattern Eating audio program.
-
Eating as a vegan, vegetarian, meat eater, or “flex-a-tarian” are all legitimate approaches to balancing the human body-mind. No one approach should be worshiped. No one approach should be seen as better or worse than the other unless it is evaluated against your overall level of well-being, or lack thereof. If we are to leave the world a little better for our children than it was when we got here, it is high time that we all stop reading magazines, books on diet dogma, and listening to people selling snake oil, get-slim-quick pills on TV and start cultivating a loving, open-minded relationship with ourselves.
With that objective managed, we will naturally find that our relationships and our contributions to the world reflect our level of sound health in sound actions for the betterment of all.
I hope this helps you to navigate your way to a healthy diet for you. I welcome your questions, comments and experiences, so please share them in the comments section below.
Love and chi, Paul Chek

Bottom line: All about balance. Water/blood is our transporter conductor of life force. Lymphatic system The harmonic resonance creates geometry at the cellular level which is order. Opposite of chaos/dis-ease Maintaining proper ph and balanced alkaline levels have been said to heal all sorts of disease. Alkaline foods are electric/life force. A toaster is electric too but it sends static instead of life force due to it drawing it’s source from DC/direct current.
