The glory of the batfamily is not that they fit into a neat little box of family dynamics, it's that their family is messy. It's because Damian thinks of both Dick and Bruce as his dad, and Tim is technically emancipated but still buys Bruce a card on fathers day. They all chip in together to buy something for Alfred on fathers day too because he's a butler but he's part of their family.
Jason is both their brother, and the uncle with a criminal record in the same breath. Kate is a wine aunt but also a mom for some of the kids. Steph is their neighbor friend but also sometimes their sister.
They'll try to kill each other, they try to hurt each other, but at the end of the day they're down to get something from batburger. They're vigilantes in one of the worst cities in America, they are not a perfect family but that's the joy of it

If you don't mind me asking, how old do you think Kuro and Mickbell were when they first met each other?
Ok, I have many things to take into consideration to answer this. I think Kuro was around 13 and Mick around 17, but I'll explain why, don't worry.
Tumblr media
First of all, Kuro escaped home to see the world. If he did so I'll assume he was underage, because otherwise he'd just left home after he became an adult. He could be older, but i don't think its likely.
Tumblr media
So, if we stick to this, he has to be a little older than this when Mickbell (4 years older than him) found him. He couldn't have been out on the world for that long. I'd say he was 12-13 when he ran away. Most likely 12.
Tumblr media
It could be that he's 13 here.
He couldn't have been alone for much time wandering the world, and I don't think he was captive for more than a month or so.
He was most likely alone on his travels, and went to the harbour to see if he could leave the continent on a ship as a stowaway or sth little time after he ran away from home. As he was all alone, he was having a little trouble getting food. That plus the fact that he wanted to see the world resulted on him going to the harbour. He was probably figuring out how to get into a ship when he was captured.
He was captured for... I'd say two or three weeks, nit more, until the slave trader bought him. He is looking foward to sell him, but hasn't yet, and hadn't left the continent wither, so Kuro'd been with him for about a week, I'd say.
Mickbell is 4 years older than Kuro, so I'll say he was around 17 by the time. A full grown adult that saw this guy, freed him, and then ended up "employing" him impulsively when he saw that he could be useful. After that this boss-employee relationship evolved into the strange fond family they are. They've been together, according to this, for 5 years or so.
It's funny how Kuro seems to be more mature than Mick. Maybe he adopted the "older brother" role with this poor little kid that saved him.
Now, it's not related to your question, bur I'd like to point out that Mick had to teach some common to Kuro since he can talk a little. And look at this. He takes him to a bath after he finds him. Who knows what was the last time Kuro was clean!

SCREAMING INTO THE VOID RN
Nothing will ever compare to the psychological effects of child vigilantism and I won't stop talking about it. Because you cannot convince me that these children have seen death, and killed gods, and have gotten away from that completely unscathed mentally.
I have holding them in my hands while putting them in a BLENDER because they are precious to me. They are children with the ability to do good so they have done good. Most of the batkids were born into the life forced upon it by situations out of their control, but some of them chose perhaps not quite understanding the ramifications, perhaps knowing that they would be scarred, and they still joined the world of superheroes regardless.
They probably all live in a constant state of fight or flight, all anxious and paranoid and who can blame them when they're fighting villains that kill without hesitation. They probably all have nightmares and flashbacks of the gruesome deaths they've either had to endure or witness
I want to squish them ALL, they think they are bad and they fear turning evil but they are truly good beyond any doubt. I want to reassure them that no matter what there is no possible way for them to be bad. But I also want to throw them into the WALL

To me, what is so fantastic about One Piece Fan Letter is the emphasis on the way the Straw Hats have created these connections in the lives of people they have never met. The ending scene, with all the hands putting together the puzzle pieces, and the way that all these connections came together in one dazzling way-- I loved that. I teared up at that. Wherever the Straw Hats go, they leave behind all of these puzzle pieces for people to put together and create bonds that would not have existed had the Straw Hats not shown up!
And it also just... Makes me so in love with the concept of the world after Luffy becomes King of The Pirates. I know that Oda has the final chapter planned in his head, and I doubt we will really see the long lasting effects of Luffy achieving the title of Pirate King + his dream, and I really do not want a sequel series ala Boruto or Yasahime, but.... I want to see a world in which children believe they can become a Brave Warrior of the Sea thanks to Usopp, I want to see more children look at Nami and realize they don't NEED to have a Devil Fruit or Haki or muscles to have adventures. I want to see the next generation of the One Piece world believe so strongly in their dreams, that they set out to accomplish them.
One Piece Fan Letter really opened the door, I think, for more and more stories about the "regular" people in the world of One Piece, the people you don't see in the arcs because they're the nondescript background characters, and how the Straw Hat Crew has changed them. And I want that. To me, that is fantastic.
