I'm so confused... why do people like lotl and think we're getting any points with this band? The lyrics don't make any sense or have any meaning, they sing with a terrible german accent (just sing german at that point) and they don't really commit to the metal genre. The only thing they got going for them is their vibe/look. I mean, please enlighten me, maybe I got it wrong since so many germans seem to like them lol
this is so funny lmao they make music and people like it its not that deep

Dear Baby Bats - Goth Band Recommendations
As a middle sibling goth (I’ve been in the subculture for 10 years now, so not a baby bat but not an elder goth either), let me turn you on to some bands because we do not gatekeep in this house!! Also, if you want consistently good lesser-known & brand new goth band recs, go follow Awfully Sinister on TikTok and Instagram. He’s a DJ & has great recs. I've found so much music through him because it's really hard to keep up with all the new bands cropping up every year. You want to avoid the goth subreddit because they are extremely gatekeeper-y and argue over labels constantly. It’ll just confuse you, and they are not nice over there.
If youre very new to the subculture, and you haven’t yet listened to all of Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, Cocteau Twins, Clan of Xymox, Joy Division, and Depeche Mode, go do so now. You'll want to know which of them you really enjoy the most because it will help you know which sub-subgenre(s) of goth you want to watch out for, and it'll tell you what to look for to find it. For example, Sisters of Mercy is the gothic rock subgenre, Christian Death is deathrock, Cocteau Twins is ethereal wave, Clan of Xymox is like the original darkwave, Joy Division is classic post-punk, etc. I haven’t included industrial, despite its proximity to the goth subculture, just because I actually don’t really know that many industrial bands beyond Skippy Puppy, Ministry, and Throbbing Gristle. Some other goth/goth-adjacent staple bands (that are very popular and very influential) that you should listen to if you haven’t already are The Damned, Killing Joke, The Cult, and Adam and the Ants/Adam Ant). I didn't know where to put She Wants Revenge or London After Midnight either, but they're also great.
I’ve bolded some of my absolute must-listen to goth bands, and I've put monthly Spotify listeners for each band so you know which ones deserve WAY more love. And in my pre-list ramblings for each OG band, I've given you some key terms to look up so you can more easily find music that's similar to what you enjoy. Okay, here we go:
If you like Bauhaus:
Bauhaus is a hard one because honestly, nobody really sounds like them, and they aren't really that closely associated with a specific sub-subgenre of goth. They were post-punk, they were art rock, they were experimental, they were sometimes very punk and at other times very gothic rock. They liked to call themselves “dark glam rock” (all four members are massive Bowie, T-Rex, and Iggy Pop fans), but you’re gonna have a hard time finding bands that sound like them if you look that term up. They probably have one of the most unique sounds of all-time. They’re my favorite band (I even have a tattoo for them, like I am devoted lol), but even I have a difficult time finding other bands that scratch their particular itch for me. These bands I’ve listed are as close as you’re gonna get to Bauhaus’ general vibe imo.
Virgin Prunes (80’s band that is technically deathrock but has the same absolutely unhinged, danceable sound that Bauhaus has, so they’re going here; one of my favorites; no one else does it like them and no one else ever will; I would actually give my left foot to see them live); 13.2k monthly listeners (this is actually physically painful to me, how is it this low!!! don't walk, RUN to go listen to them)
Alien Sex Fiend (80’s classic unhinged goth); 77k monthly listeners
Sextile (modern band that has some very Bauhaus-sounding guitar work at times but with heavy industrial influences); 147k listeners
The Danse Society (80’s unhinged goth; has similar experimental vibes to Bauhaus imo; one of my fave goth groups); 36k listeners
Sex Beat (80’s); not even really on Spotify
Ritual Howls (modern band; I don’t know why it gives Bauhaus, but it does; one of the few modern bands that scratches that particular itch for me); 45k listeners
The Agnes Circle (modern band; one of my favorites; they have the right Bauhaus-like atmosphere for me); 52k listeners
Traitrs (I can’t explain why they remind me of Bauhaus, but they do; another one of my fave modern bands; they make me want to start levitating and doing the Ian Curtis dance in the same way Bauhaus does lol); 239k listeners
Paralisis Permanente (underrated 80’s; they have a lot in common with Bauhaus’s sound actually, def give them a try!); 54k monthly listeners
The Birthday Party (80s band, totally unhinged; they’re less dark and atmospheric than Bauhaus, but if you take one listen to their album Junkyard, you’ll know exactly why I put them under this category haha; Nick Cave is the vocalist, which is amazing); 54k listeners
Tones on Tail (80s; Daniel Ash & Kevin Haskins of Bauhaus formed this group; I’d put Love and Rockets as well, which is all of Bauhaus’s members except Peter Murphy, but Love and Rockets weirdly bears little resemblance to Bauhaus’s music; but if you just generally want more of Bauhaus members' work, Love and Rockets is great, too); 81k listeners
Dalis Car (80s; collaboration between Peter Murphy and Japan's bassist; their music is extremely weird, so only listen if you really love the batshit insane Bauhaus songs or if you really live and breathe Peter Murphy like I do lol; their description on Spotify is so fucking funny); 7k listeners
I'd also recommend listening to Daniel Ash, David J, and Peter Murphy's solo work. They're all great!! Peter also did some amazing collaborations with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails); the version of Reptile that they did together is better than Nine Inch Nail's original version imo, and you can find that entire session on Youtube!
If you like Siouxsie and the Banshees:
Siouxsie is another one that's hard to pin down sound-wise because again, they don't really fit into one specific sub-subgenre, so all of these recs are just goth bands with female vocalists who have the same kind of powerful vocals that Siouxsie does.
Second Still (modern band, one of my faves; singer sounds a lot like Siouxsie to me at times); 69k listeners
Skeletal Family (80’s band; has the same “women in punk” vibes that Siouxsie has); 55k listeners
Xmal Deutschland (80’s band; has the same powerful vocals that Siouxsie has; makes you wanna go stupid go crazy the way the Banshees do); 73k listeners
Secret Shame (modern band w/ woman singer; has the same rage that Siouxsie songs have to me, especially early Siouxsie); 6k listeners (let's get those numbers up, folks!!!)
Rosegarden Funeral Party (modern band w/ a woman vocalist); 57k listeners
Mephisto Walz (90s & 2000s; sounds so much like the Banshees at times); 56k listeners
The Creatures (80s; a Siouxsie Sioux & Budgie side project); 34k listeners
Madhouse (listen to Repulsion! 80s group that’s technically deathrock, but I put them under this category because the singer has Siouxsie-like qualities); not really on Spotify
Strange Boutique (90s; vocalist is Monica Richards of Faith and the Muse & Madhouse; this is probably my favorite project of hers); 112k listeners
If you like Depeche Mode:
For Depeche Mode enjoyers (which DM is kind of on the fringes of what’s considered “goth,” but they’re so entrenched in the subculture that I included them anyway), you’re gonna want to delve into goth playlists that have a lot of EBM (electronic body music) and modern goth that leans towards synthpop/synthwave. So those are the kinds of playlists you’ll want to search up for similar sounds to DM.
Nuovo Testamento (modern band; combines post-punk and pop elements in a way that’s very similar to Depeche Mode; lots of fun live, and they have a good sound); 25k listeners
Boy Harsher (modern band; relies heavily on synth; feels like it should be playing at every goth club); 558k listeners
ULTRA SUNN (modern band; singer sounds like Dave Gahan); 217k listeners (they just blew up on tiktok recently, which explains why this just skyrocketed since the last time I was on their Spotify page lol; good for them, good for them, they deserve it)
Ministry's first album (called With Sympathy), which was synthwave/synthpop before they went industrial (this is one of my all-time favorite albums)
French Police (modern band); 252k listeners
Closed Tear (modern band); 152k listeners
Night Sins (modern band); 33k listeners
Panic Priest (modern band; vocals sound decently similar to Dave Gahan & there is a lot of reliance on synth; In All Severity is a gorgeous song); 5k listeners
Fad Gadget (underrated 80’s; I just feel like if you like DM, you’re also gonna like Fad Gadget); 58k listeners
Martin Dupont (underrated 80s cold wave/synth pop; Inside Out is one of my favorite 80s songs); 26k listeners
If you like The Cure:
You'll be hard-pressed to find a goth band that wasn't influenced by The Cure, so I really can't give you any key terms for what to look up lol. They also changed their sound so frequently that it entirely depends on what era of The Cure's music you're looking to find similar music for.
Vision Video (modern band; combines post-punk and pop elements like The Cure does; one of my fave modern goth bands; they are INCREDIBLE live); 52k listeners (I'm gonna need y'all to get a song or two of theirs to blow up on tiktok expeditiously lol)
Urban Heat (modern band; great live); 36k listeners
The Chameleons (80’s band; very underrated; they are also very good live); 167k listeners
House of Harm (modern band, very new; also very good live; has pop elements); 44k listeners
Deceits (modern band, another very new one); 28k listeners (it's crazy how much this number has grown the past two months because it was in the single thousands not that long ago; everyone say thank you, tiktok)
Drab Majesty (modern band; their instrumentals remind me of The Cure); 172k listeners
Double Echo (modern band, one of my faves; their instrumentals also remind me of The Cure); 15k listeners (let's get these numbers up!!!)
The Bolshoi (underrated 80’s band that combines new wave and goth elements in a similar way to The Cure); 114k listeners
The Essence (underrated 80s band that sounds so much like The Cure it’s actually insane, but they’ve got their own sound too; they’re like a perfect blend of all of The Cure’s different sounds); 25k monthly listeners
The Glove (80s; a Robert Smith side project with Steven Severin from Siouxsie and the Banshees); 25k listeners
Crimson Ivy (80s band; singer sounds so a lot like a more yelly version of Robert Smith sometimes); not on Spotify
Miss Teen America (brand new band from NYC! They only have one single out right now, and it’s well worth listening to); 940 monthly listeners (y’all know what to do!!! Let’s get those numbers up, up, up!) link to their single: https://open.spotify.com/album/4nvdZeUVLLrMv3tEziCqm7?si=2WVS7-eYQLGR7Id3wLiKhg
If you like Clan of Xymox:
Most of these bands will be modern ones because Clan of Xymox was honestly way ahead of their time. (They are also amazing live, so go see them before they eventually call it quits!) For playlists that are full of their vibe, you’re gonna want to look up “darkwave” playlists and also some EBM. Clan of Xymox pioneered darkwave, so any darkwave band you listen to is gonna be influenced by their sound in some way or another.
Harsh Symmetry (modern, very new; very heavily relies on synth); 29k listeners
Ssleeping Desiress (modern band; instrumentals similar to Xymox); 55k listeners
Twin Tribes (probably my favorite modern goth band; they are fucking incredible and so good live!); 276k listeners
ACTORS (modern band; heavily relies on synth); 86k listeners
Mareux (modern; heavily relies on synth); 4.8 million listeners (this is wild!!!! everyone say thank you, tiktok)
Sixth June (modern); 23k listeners
Plastique Noir (modern); 40k listeners
Rendez Vous (modern); 160k listeners
Minuit Machine (modern); 97k listeners
The Frozen Autumn (90s & 2000s); 31k listeners
If you like Christian Death:
All of these recs will be deathrock recs or goth bands that heavily leaned on punk sounds. So if CD is the OG goth band you’re most fond of, you’re gonna want to delve into deathrock playlists for similar sounds.
Asylum Party (80’s band); not on spotify
45 Grave (80’s band); 47k listeners
Voodoo Church (80’s band; probably my favorite out of this bunch; I actually like them more than Christian Death); 7k listeners (let's get these numbers up immediately!!!!)
Ausgang (80’s band); 2k listeners (WHAT; they deserve so much more, damn)
Corpus Delicti (90’s band; they are very good; they sound the least like Christian Death on this list imo); 26k listeners
13th Chime (80’s band; very underrated); 6k listeners
UK Decay (you know, I actually don’t know what era they’re from; unhinged sound); 1k listeners (omg)
Super Heroines (underrated 80’s band; Eva O formed it); 2k listeners (you see what I meant about underrated?)
Specimen (80s band; this one could have just as easily gone under Bauhaus tbh, but the vocals are generally higher pitched than Peter Murphy’s, so I put them under this category); 102k listeners
Sex Gang Children (80’s band; just so unhinged & I love them for it); 27k listeners
Suspiria (90s, I think? I don’t actually know); barely on Spotify but 27k listeners
Theatre of Hate (80s); 7k listeners
Bloody Dead and Sexy (2000s, I think); 44k listeners
Mescaline Babies (2000s); 3k listeners
Acid Bats (2000s; Mexican band with Spanish lyrics); 2k listeners
Altar de Fey (80s band; formed in San Francisco!!); 23k listeners
Twisted Nerve (80s band; classified as “gothic punk,” so I felt this was the best category for them; they’re great; their sound also reminds me of early Siouxsie and the Banshees and Killing Joke); 2.5k listeners
Play Dead (80s); 8k listeners
Limbo (underrated 80s; if you like Bauhaus & Virgin Prunes as well, you’re gonna like this band); 413 listeners
If you like Cocteau Twins:
Cocteau Twins’ early sound is usually categorized as “ethereal wave” goth, so those are the playlists you’ll want to look up if you enjoy their early sound. If you like their later sound, you’re gonna want to lean more towards shoegaze for similar vibes. Admittedly, ethereal wave is one of the goth subgenres that I know the least about, so I’m not gonna be much help here.
Dead Can Dance (80’s band; NO one, and I mean NO ONE, was doing it like Dead Can Dance; so fun to dance to in the goth club); 332k listeners
Lycia (90’s band; their music is very transcendent); 20k listeners
Linea Aspera (modern band; gorgeous woman vocals; honestly, their music is just very beautiful); 67k listeners
This Mortal Coil (formed in the 80s; some songs feature Elizabeth Fraser & Robin Guthrie from Cocteau Twins, but even the ones that don’t still have an ethereal vibe similar to CT; Sixteen Days/Gathering Dust is just like the best song ever); 310k listeners
Autumn's Grey Solace (2000s); 62k listeners
Faith and the Muse; (90s); 22k listeners
This Ascension (90s); 4k listeners
Strawberry Switchblade (80s); 400k listeners
If you like Joy Division:
All of these bands will be ones that sound very classically post-punk, so those are the playlists to search out; emphasis on "classic" because post-punk is a very broad term that gets applied to a lot of music. I would argue that Joy Division has had the most influence out of all the OG goth bands on the current goth sound/goth renaissance we're going through right now, so there are a LOT of bands out there for you if you’re a JD fan.
Molchat Doma (modern band); 2.5 million listeners (wow lol, they've grown so much over the past two years, it's actually insane; good for them)
Soviet Soviet (modern band); 152k listeners
Fearing (modern band; very good live); 30k listeners
Ploho (modern band); 146k listeners
Pink Turns Blue (criminally underrated 80’s band; they are SO good live); 98k listeners (this is an actual travesty, this band is way too good to not even be in the hundred thousands)
The Sound (another incredibly underrated 80’s band); 119k listeners
This Cold Night (modern; has the deep vocals of Joy Division and the driving bass but more stripped back than JD); 150k listeners
Bleib Modern (modern; has very similar vocals to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, which is a band listed under the Sisters of Mercy section of this post, so if you end up liking this band, you should also listen to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry & vice versa); 36k listeners
Lebanon Hanover (modern; has the existential angst that Joy Division always ignites in me but more stripped back); 936k listeners (this is crazy, holy shit!!!!!! go, Lebanon Hanover, go!!)
She Past Away (modern; deep vocals); 226k listeners
Belgrado (modern; woman vocals!); 18k listeners (they deserve better than this!!)
Leonora Post Punk (modern; Mexican goth band w/ Spanish vocals! They’re amazing! They have those deep vocals you want when you’re looking for a similar sound to Joy Division); 56k listeners
O. Children (modern; has the deep vocals & interesting bass lines that Joy Division was known for; great band); 29k listeners
If you like Sisters of Mercy:
This is one of my least favorite goth subcategories, which is odd because I actually love Sisters. But if you’re looking for a lot of music that sounds like SoM, I’d suggest delving into the 90’s and early 2000’s goth music scene. Search out those playlists. A lot of the 90s and 2000s goth bands were very derivative of Sisters of Mercy.
Rosetta Stone (90’s band); 54k listeners
Miazma (modern); 10k listeners
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry (another criminally underrated 80’s band; one of my fave goth bands); 40k listeners (THEY!! DESERVE!! BETTER!!)
Dreamtime (modern); 65 listeners (ouch lol, please go show them some love)
Fields of the Nephilim (80’s, I think; if you’re a metalhead, you’ll probably appreciate this band); 95k listeners
The Merry Thoughts (80s); 19k listeners
The March Violets (underrated 80s; might be a controversial opinion to put them under SoM, but I’m standing by it); 69k listeners
Horror Vacui (modern; it’s kind of a stretch putting them here tbh, but I couldn’t figure out what other category to put them under); 44k listeners
The Sisterhood (spin-off Sisters of Mercy group that was formed by goth king Andrew Eldritch himself); 3k listeners
The Mission (formed by former Sisters of Mercy members; Wasteland by them was actually one of the first songs to get me into goth music); 180k listeners
Eyes of the Nightmare Jungle (late 80s & 90s; every time a song by them comes on, I’m convinced it’s a Sisters song until the singer starts singing lol); 13k listeners
Ex-Voto (formed in 1982, but most of their albums on Spotify came out in the 2000s; this band is like if Fields of Nephilim had a baby with Clan of Xymox & then sprinkled some industrial techniques in); 6k listeners
Also, if you want a 1500-song, 105-hour goth playlist that’s constantly growing, here you go. The name of it is a dig at my ex lol: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6jCV530pMmOEmDHj4CLNka?si=cEVKiyAwQpaieGiV2pMyqw

MHA Bassist!Sero Hanta x Reader 🍋 - Back to the Bus
Tumblr media
Kinktober 2024 - X
Face sitting + Piercings
Summary: After scoring backstage passes to your favorite band's show, you're surprised to find the lead singer seems interest in you.
Warnings: Oral (f!receiving), face sitting, praise, a bit rushed
You couldn't believe your luck! Not only had you just finished watching your first concert ever, you were now in line to meet the band backstage!
"You're going to crumple your poster." Your best friend croaked from beside you, gently taking it from you, having to pry it from your nervous hands. "How about I hold onto this for you?"
"S-Sorry, Tsu." You murmured sheepishly, handing it over. "Gosh, I'm totally freaking out!" You gushed, wiping your sweaty hands on the front of your distressed band tee. "I can't believe we're gonna meet the Pop Rocks!"
The amphibian girl simply beamed at you. Truthfully, she wasn't into this scene, only indulging you, though she didn't mind the music. She just preferred lighter stuff. "Try to calm down, yeah? You don't wanna squander your chance, do you?"
"No," You laughed nervously, moving up in line. "But don't pretend you aren't excited too! I bet you can't wait to meet Bakugo! You even started following him on social media!" Tsu paused, blushing a bit.
"I admire his dedication to his craft." She dismissed, swallowing dryly. "Besides, no crush of mine could top the one you have on the bassist- what's his name again?"
You exhaled heavily in annoyance. "Hanta Sero? The love of my life?"
She simply giggled at you. "Yep, you're definitely obsessed!"
As the pair of you excitedly chatted away, the line in front of you began to dwindle until all that stood between you and the band were a velvet curtain and two more fans. "Tsu, I can't do this, I'm too anxious."
"What?" She deadpanned, shoulders slumping.
"I'm gonna throw up." You warned her, heaving. She placed a firm hand on your shoulder.
"If you back out now, you'll never forgive yourself." She pointed out, glancing over your shoulder as the two in front of you stepped behind the curtain. "You got this, they're just people!" She gave a reassuring smile.
"Famous people!" You whined back, covering your mouth and gagging.
"Fame is a myth." She rolled her eyes, pushing you forward by a few feet. "Don't you wanna meet Sero?"
"Y-Yeah..." You murmured. She was right and you knew it. You steeled yourself, putting on a brave face, turning to face the curtain. And then it opened and your heart stopped.
You both were led directly behind it where five people lounged on a pair of plush couches and a slew of beanbags and armchairs. The set up looked like some sort of music video with the way it contrasted with the industrial background of the closed stage. "Hey, thanks for comin' out!" One of the guitarists chirped, jumping up and offering his hands for both of you to simultaneously shake. "How'd you like the show?"
"I-It was amazing!" You gushed, starstruck, eyes dragging over his wide crimson hair, smudged eyeliner, and torn muscle tank that stretched taut over his chest.
"Well, if you didn't already know, I'm Kirishima, Kaminari and I play electric," He smiled, tossing a thumb over to the blonde, lounging on one of the couches. "That's Sero, our bassist, Bakugo, the drummer," He nodded to the other couch, towards another, ashier blonde, and a smug ravenette, home on a beanbag respectively. He then motioned to one of the armchairs, which held a petite woman in heavy gothic makeup with fishnet tights. "And Jiro, our singer."
Of course, you knew them all by name and role, you never memorized their birthdays. But, fearing letting that on wouldn't bode well, you played ignorant. "I-I'ts great to meet you all!" You chimed breathlessly. The girl smirked, peering at you expectantly.
"Do...you have a name?" She chuckled to herself.
You felt like an idiot, of course, you were supposed to introduce yourself! "Oh, sorry, uhm..."
Sensing your discomfort, Tsu stepped forward. "This is (Y/N), and my name is Tsuyu, but everyone calls me Tsu!"
"Nice to meet you both," She replied, mellow, before turning her attention back to you. "Listen, we're just people, no need to be nervous." You nodded shyly, face red.
You and Tsu continued to chat with Jiro, Kirishima, and Kaminari for a few minutes. Bakugo listened in idly, never letting his tough guy facade crack, and Sero simply watched with an amused grin. You were quite disappointed that you hadn't gotten to talk to the latter, but you did have his signature on your poster, it having been passed around by each member, so what was good.
After your allotted time was up, you and your guest were escorted to a backdrop, where the band crowded around you for a picture. You and Tsu posed in the center, hugging each other closely, and the other five followed suit, all back to the chest after one of you with goofy grins on their faces. You could plainly see Bakugo hugging her from behind, and the stark redness on her face. Behind him was Kirishima. That meant the other three were behind you. You wondered if it was behind you. Probably Kaminari, if you had to guess, as the arms around your waist were far too toned to be feminine, and the head that rested on your shoulder was higher up than Jiro was tall.
"Say cheese!" The cameraman chimed, stepping behind the tripod, giving small notions to adjust posing. Focused on your practiced smile, nothing could have prepared you to catch a small glimpse of inky hair cascading over your shoulder. Though, what really got you was the voice in your ear that cooed:
"Can I get your number after this?"
In a blinding flash, the photo was taken and you were escorted out of the way by the event staff. You were permitted to say your goodbyes to the band, but you only needed to speak to one person. "Is that a no?" Sero chuckled, stepping in front of you.
"Y-You really want my number?" You swallowed nervously, backing away a bit.
"Mhm," He grinned before turning sheepish. "But... I left my phone back on the tour bus. Wanna go with me to get it?"
"I-I could just write it down or-"
"I'll lose it." He hinted with a wink and your face lit up like a homecoming bonfire. "You gotta put it in my phone yourself." Th smirk on his face grew as he Thenodded towards the back door. You glanced back at Tsu, who had been pulled aside as well by a certain drummer, cheeks pink as she shyly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She nodded to you, giving a discreet thumbs up.
-----
You could hardly recall the last several minutes. It wasn't for a lack of memory, but the events went by so quickly, you could hardly register them. One moment, he was pulling you out the back door to the venue and aboard the tour bus, showing you around it, and the next, he had you on the couch, raking his slender fingers through your hair. "I could be totally misreading this but..." He chuckled sheepishly. "I think you like me a little bit..."
"I do..." You swooned, eyes tracing over his pierced features. "You're like my favorite musician ever..."
"Oh, stop," He grinned, leaning in close. "Flattery will get you everything." His smile subtly faded, bringing your face closer by your chin, your thumb brushing over your pouty bottom lip. "I don't want you to think I'm some scumbag who hooks up with every groupie..." He coos, breath fanning over your face. "I really do think you're cute..."
"Y-You do?" You gasp nervously, melting at his touch, leaning in with him.
"Yeah, fuck, it's like-" He laughed dryly. "Kept gettin' all nervous on stage with how you were lookin' at me. You looked like you saw a shooting star."
"I did," You sighed, lovesick smile creeping across your face.
"Hey, what'd I say about flattery?" He hummed, lips dangerously close to brushing against yours.
"That it'll get me everything?" You answered sheepishly, suppressing a flirtatious giggle. "What does that one get me?"
"A kiss, should you choose to accept it." He smirked, pressing his lips firmly to yours.
"Y-You sounded amazing tonight..." You gushed breathlessly, eagerly kissing back.
"Better stop baby..." He chuckled into your mouth, parting your lips with his tongue. "You keep talkin' all sweet to me and I might just have to kiss you all over..." Suddenly, you yanked away from him, startled by the feeling of cool metal clicking against the back of your teeth. He stifled a giggle at your flushed face. "Hey, hey, it's cool, just my stud." He reassured gently, sticking his tongue out to reveal a small barbell nestled in the center of the pink muscle.
You eyed it curiously, face flushed and nervous. "O-Oh, sorry..."
"Ya know..." He gave a dry laugh. "It vibrates."
-----
You couldn't be bothered to stifle the sobs tearing from your throat, so overstimulated and spent that you couldn't even feel the build-up to your orgasms anymore. Painted fingernails dug crescent moons into your thighs and cool silver rings left imprints in your flesh as he held you firmly in place from below. You couldn't even begin to wrap your head around it. Not only had you caught the attention of your idol, but you were riding his face on the couch of his tour bus.
"'Nother one, c'mon," He rasped words a bit muddled as his tongue hung from his mouth before pressing to your clit. You shrieked, drool dripping down your chin as your back straightened. True to his word, the stud did in fact vibrate, and was he getting his money's worth from it.
"C-Can't!" You wept, fingers raking through his midnight locks, tugging gently at the roots. "T-Too much!"
Sero simply chuckled again, sweetly kissing at the slobbery flesh surrounding your core before running his tongue through it again. "One more, please, you can do it, baby." He begged, voice muffled as he continued to drink you in. When he felt you settle against his face again, he groaned with delight, one hand leaving your hip, digging into his jeans hastily. "Ugh, fuck yeah, good girl."
You immediately positioned yourself to focus on building your climax, shy at the sound of his needy moans and squelching of his cock fucking into his wet fist. "S-Sero, I-I-!" You hissed, a weak and undeserved orgasm rapidly approaching. Your body had already had enough and this was all it could offer as you grinded your hips into his face.
"That's it, pretty, ride my fuckin' face so good." He heaved, whimpering prettily into your thighs, his hips jerking into his hand as he neared his high. Without any way to stop or slow it, your final orgasm finally hit, leaving you sobbing loudly, rocking your hips into his face. "Ahhh, fuck, princess, good God," He strained, riding you both out with no regard for volume control.
Carefully, when you were ready, he helped you down, sitting down beside you on the bench seat, and pulling you against him. "Holy shit," He huffed, smiling lazily. "Yeah, I'm for sure gonna need your number, like actually."

Julie and the Phantoms Song Recs: McFly Songs that are Sunset Curve/JATP Coded
Tumblr media
So, McFly are a big British pop/rock band that have been around since 2003, and are still releasing music and touring at the time of writing in 2024. I saw them perform live in 2023, and loved it. 💖 That tour was to celebrate the release of the most recent album (at the time of writing) - Power To Play - and listening to that album immediately gave me Sunset Curve vibes, and then I subsequently realised that they had been making Sunset Curve/JATP-coded songs throughout their whole career. 🥺💖
Edit: So, McFly are really popular in Brazil, and they released a song with popular Brazilian band Fresno in 2023 as part of the Power To Play album - Broken By You... and I've just discovered that Fresno actually had a cameo in Julie e os Fantasmas (the original Brazilian show that Julie and the Phantoms was adapted from) in episode 3, so this whole post has gained a lot more validity in a '6 degrees of separation' kind of way 😍👏
youtube
I wanted to make a list of songs that I could see Sunset Curve/JATP performing/recording for their potential albums, some that just remind me of the boys, and some fun gems in between - these are all my personal preferences/opinions, so you may think differently, but here is the current tracklist in no particular order. (All with YouTube links of varying quality since a lot of the music videos/live performances give Sunset Curve/JATP vibes too IMO. All [except one] of these songs are also on Spotify etc.):
🎶 God of Rock & Roll (link here) (Screams Sunset Curve for me)
🎶 Where Did All The Guitars Go? (link here) (Also screams Sunset Curve for me)
🎶 Air Guitar (as McBusted with Busted) (link here) (Always reminded me of when the boys realised that people could see them play with Julie)
🎶 Ghostbusters (Live cover of song by Ray Parker Jr.) (link here) (On Youtube, but sadly not on streaming) (Maybe a bonus/hidden track on the album or they would exclusively play live at the gigs - I couldn't not share it because it's awesome from start to finish, and the boys would totally cover it as a joke 👻Also, imagine the boys getting the crowd to do call-and-response with them - iconic 😍)
🎶 I'll Be Ok (link here) (Gives me vibes of the boys helping each other through their crappy family lives in the 90s 🥺)
🎶 Five Colours In Her Hair (link here) (The song written during a jam session - the boys just having a laugh)
🎶 Make It Out Alive (link here) (As soon as I first heard this, the angst and melodrama of the song gave me vibes of the boys being cursed and under Caleb's control at the HGC 🥺)
🎶 Route 55 (link here) (A song all about friends having a great time together during an endless summer)
🎶 Don't Stop Me Now (Charity single cover of Queen) (link here) (They would have totally covered Queen during their jam sessions - respecting some of the best but putting their own fun spin on things 😂)
🎶 Transylvania (link here) (This song always gives me HGC vibes - so gothic and melodramatic, and Dougie's vocals in the chorus?? 😍)
🎶 Party Girl (link here) (Such a guilty pleasure song of mine~ This music video is slightly NSFW since it contains clips of the band's infamous vampire-themed short film that they all starred in 2010 to promote their album at the time [which even the band realise was a bad idea in hindsight, since it was clearly riding the Twilight wave]... but! Listening to this song also gives me ideas for a possible evil Julie possessed/controlled by Caleb - maybe sometime I will write them down~ 👀)
🎶Tonight Is The Night (link here) (A spiritual sequel to I'll Be Ok in my mind - when the boys realise that they're not really okay and need to ask for help to process all the shit that has happened to them - think what Luke went through in Unsaid Emily [and what we presume Alex and Reggie would go through in subsequent seasons] and the boys helping each other through it 🥺)
🎶 Too Close For Comfort (link here) (The obligatory break-up song on an album, and this performed live is everything - just heartbreaking 🥺)
🎶 Umbrella (Live cover of song by Rihanna) (link here) (Julie gives the boys a lesson in popular music during the 25 years that they've been dead, and they decide to surprise her with a fun rock cover of Umbrella to cheer her up one day)
🎶 The Heart Never Lies (link here) (The dramatic love song on an album that is really about the band's bond and sticking together through thick and thin)
🎶 Falling In Love (link here) (The love song that has a music video full of tour footage, which always make me think of the boys in Sunset Curve absolutely loving playing for a crowd, and the bridge/quiet part of the song giving the vibe of Julie, Luke, Alex and Reggie cherishing the moment at the end of Stand Tall before the boys cross over 🥺)
🎶 One For The Radio (link here) (The defiant song for everyone who dismissed Sunset Curve and JATP - I could imagine this as a song written in response to either record companies who wouldn't sign Sunset Curve/JATP, Bobby/Trevor or Caleb. It also gives me vibes of the boys appearing back onto the stage of the Orpheum to perform Stand Tall with Julie - defiant celebration)
🎶 Lies (link here) (The break-up song that gives me vibes of the boys standing up to Caleb. Also is it just me, or does Tom [you can see him at around 0:43 in the video] give Luke vibes in his styling? 😍)
🎶 Forever's Not Enough (link here) (The true love song that Luke writes for Julie, but will never admit that it's for her because he makes the lyrics vague enough 💖)

Stupid thought: imagine the bots as human teens at the 1990-2000's
If Bulkhead and Heatwave weren't so freaking hateful with the other, they and the other two waves would form an emo rock band
Boulder is their manager and the excuse each time they're in a concert at some strange place.
Shockwave made the false identifications, for the unfortunate moments
Soundwave and Heatwave are guitarrists and probably the best ones ever with the best duets, Shockwave is the piano and synthetizer, Bulkhead is the drum, and he and Heatwave are vocalists, they both have probably the best voices ever and the best style
Blades is their personal stylist, also emo but more into gothic and pinky
Chase is the one who reminds them to be emo and anti system is not the same to be vandalist
Blurr, Salvage and Sissi are some fans who live near and study on the same school
Hightide is an officer who is always reminding the band not to do noise, and Servo is his police dog, the band loves Servo a lot, more than to Hightide.
Hightide also loves very much his good boy, Servo.

E-Gothic Conformity: The Horror of the Algorithm (Part ??/??)
Tumblr media
(x)
Hey Ghouls! Been a While!
Today I'm going to talk about something I've been telling my friends about (though with no nuance, so they always look at my like I've got three heads! Arguably not a bad thing...) for probably the last year. That is... This new, almost obsessive behavior... with conformity. I've mostly seen this on "The Tiktoks" and "The Reels", so this is totally connected with structurally oppressive preferences of the Algorithm.
This may need to be in two parts; Here I know I want to write a big regretfulesc love letter to my community, which even though I adore... I cannot help but feel afraid for the future. I also don't feel like finding sources this time
TW for mentions of ED and Racism
It's no secret that the algorithm pushes videos with thin white people who (seemingly!) overconsume off of websites like Dolls Kill and Shein, or even sites like Depop. There's obviously nothing to feel guilty about with buying things that you need (I've covered this in a past post).
But, I worry about the future of the community. I've seen baby bats ask if they are still goth if they don't wear a white face, I've seen creators tight-lace their corsets so tightly that they could receive bodily damage. I worry about those who develop eating disorders to fit this standard. I also worry about those who believe they have to hide their skin color to be apart of our extremely diverse community. I worry about people who feel that they need to buy into this mass amount of overconsumption to feel "goth enough".
The truth is, this is an arts-based subculture- you can do anything you want with it. It is necessary that we keep our fondness of Life as a cycle, all aspects of death are within that. Within life there is death and within that, there is death, in an endless cycle. But IMO it's more of a prompt than anything, Goth is The People.
But enough of that talk, I mean, I have a whole post (which I should probably update as new information comes to light) about it!
I think that a lot of this prioritizing looking as thin and as pale as possible is really dangerous. I know that it's under this guise of looking "dead, sickly, or ghoulish", but that's honestly such bull. We can look at gothic artist Tim Burton's reasons for his exclusion within his "aesthetic".
Not to mention this criticizing article on Wednesday! (From the Independent)
So, "Get on with it!" I hear you say.
Alright, alright. What does this mean for the future of the goth community? I mean, the culture of each social media garbage app is entirely different. Tiktok is kind of a deep pit that I avoid like the plague for how addictive it is (only for myself to replace it with reels). Instagram reels is honestly the place i have the most beef with.
There's this huge uptick in people minimizing what goth is (some of these people aren't even goths!).
They're the ones who are lowkey hierarchal assholes who think that Trad goth is the only form of gothic expression. (Like these dudes haven't read any gothic literature, written any annoying poetry, contemplated religion, spoken to a goth, or even been to a cemetery!)
So, TLDR, if we are not anti-white supremacist about this whole thing, we could see the next generation fall into consumerist patterns favoring whiteness over the beauty of gothic art.
As always, Thanks for reading!
Let me know if I'm missing anything, or if I should spend more time researching this topic!
Song recommendation; I have been obsessing over this band recently! Genre is like darkwave-alternative rock I suppose.

Uriè and Cabiria, you see, they are night and day.
What an interesting pair of rivals! They're probably the biggest opposites in my redesigned cast, even more so than Raf and Sulfus. Here's my design notes for these lovely ladies:
Their designs came very naturally to me once I cemented their personalities: Uriè is super positive and socially inclined, while Cabiria is solitary and reserved. Based on this, I decided to keep their Prisma Fly colors from the show as their main outfit colors: yellow and indigo, respectively.
While the series has Uriè and Cabiria as paired rivals, in the comic they're paired differently: Uriè is paired with Gas while Cabiria's with Gabi. Since I decided early on to keep Dolce in the cast, I also kept the cartoon's pairings. They also contrasted much more nicely in terms of personality and colors, so I couldn't pass the opportunity up!
Besides the yellow, most of Uriè's redesign is inspired by her comic's counterpart: I picked the lilac and pink colors from there (which is great, coupled with yellow she looks like a breaking dawn!), as well as the hazel-green eyes (while Uriè is not meant to represent one particular ethnicity, I think her eyes were a nod to the black population of the Caribbean and Northern Africa where this eye color is a distinctive trait). She also wears the same gold and blue friendship bracelet as Raf, which may break away from the rest of her ensemble but signifies how their friendship stands out to her.
Cabiria's look from the comic/series might seem too different side by side, but they have the same root: gothic rock/metal and what I can only refer to as "spooky chic". I simply doubled down on this premise: I made her hair long and wild for theatrics, same with the eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick and nail polish; I was heavily inspired by bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Sisters of Mercy. The silver hair is meant to contrast her very dark clothes, as well as make her silhouette more readable.
Uriè is a little ball of sunshine, so she's plump and the shortest of the entire main cast. Meanwhile, Cabiria is the tallest of the devil girls; her vertical-striped pants as well as her heeled boots bring out her long legs even more.
Their earrings were inspired by their respective mascots: Uriè's pearls are shiny dots just like her firefly, while Cabiria's piercings are linked by a chain like a spider web (her spider mascot hangs from an actual web string).
Mascot placement has some symbolism behind it: I put Uriè's firefly on her choker to signify how her bright words often guide her friends like a beacon. On the other hand, Cabiria's spider hangs from her left ear, just like she often lingers quietly and listens, waiting for the right moment to act.
In all honesty, I'm very satisfied with how I've handled my redesign process so far; I also enjoy sharing my thought process, who knows how it'll change as I go on with this project? I'm curious to see where this takes me...! While I can't tell you more without entering spoilers territory, I can at least leave you with links to the rest of my content to check out! :D

Rules: Put your On Repeat playlist on shuffle and post the first ten songs that show up.
"Moon Sign Gemini" by State Faults - been really getting into these guys lately. Chaotic post-hardcore that has really strong melodic moments to break up all the noise. This song is only like a minute long so I always have to listen to it like 4 times in a row, it's so good
"We Know the Score (feat. Pain of Truth)" by Stand Still - maybe my favorite song off the debut Still Standing LP. They're from Long Island, NY and they SOUND like it -- that really strong, melodic hardcore inflected emo that bands like The Movielife and early Brand New. Super fun, very catchy, still aggressive.
"Maybe It's Me" by Four Year Strong - speaking of melodic hardcore! "Easycore" if that term doesn't make you cringe out of your skin. The new FYS album is bold and weird and really, really charming. This song has one of the most infectious riffs of the year, imo. Can't get enough.
"fleahouse" by Static Dress - so everything from 20 years ago is having a comeback and emo-influenced metalcore (or metalcore-influenced emo?) is no exception. Of all the new young bands peddling this brand of nostalgia, I think Static Dress might be doing it the best. Perfect ratio of clean to harsh vox, very melodic but still hard enough to get you headbanging a little. Could have been a Taste of Chaos band in '08, for sure.
"The Joke" by Coheed and Cambria - you know what let's not talk about this one
"You're Part of It" by Ben Quad - been getting really into Ben Quad lately! As well established by now, this has been my emo renaissance year. Ben Quad are a lot more midwest emo influenced, great noodly guitars. This song goes pretty hard. It's got such an incredible build-up, I keep this on repeat sometimes just so I can get to the end again and again
"Puntería (feat. Cardi B)" by Shakira - Absolute certified jam- fun beat, lyrics that make me blush even though i'm not fluent enough to translate everything, makes you bop around every time it comes on. My family's mexican, I'm from a very Latino neighborhood - when there's a new Shakira record, especially one as drama-laden as this, you hear it. Super fun
"Vigilantes" by Angel Sword - FINISH HEAVY METAL. I was fucking obsessed with this record for like all of July and a good chunk of August. Just fun, grimy, greasy trad metal. Jean jacket music, you feel me? The riffs are very bright and melodic and I really love the vocals - kinda rough around the edges in a way that's really charming to me. This song is 100% perfect, wouldn't change anything about it.
"The Peopling of London" by Maritime - got back into this album this year. Fun little indie rock jam from 2011, a band made of guys who used to be in The Promise Ring and the Dismemberment Plan.
"I'm Content With Losing" by Underoath - 20th anniversary tour for They're Only Chasing Safety is this year and I'm soooooo excited. It's been a fun record to revisit, very nostalgic and rewarding now this far away to see HOW big an impact it had on the scene at the time. I mean, that Static Dress song further up the list sounds the way it does BECAUSE of this band (fun fact: they're opening that tour lmao). Anyway, good shit. I love it.

Theresa Fowler Headcanons (Updated List)
I posted a hc list year ago 🤯 omg
So this is the update.
Theresa Fowler Headcanons (Relevant for Meaning On Earth/Gothic Files)
Her birthday is on 25th of July (Zodiac sign is Leo but who cares)
Her favorite color is yellow. It's still yellow. Even if she disguised herself as a cold gothic b!tch.
She's left handed. A bit of ambidextrous, but mostly left handed. But usually holds items in the right hand.
Her mbti personality type is probably INFJ. I accidentally got into this topic and the description of this type, was exactly how I imagined Theresa in general: shy, strange, mysterious, empathetic and emotional.
Her attachment type is anxious... Due to how she was treated in the infanthood and childhood.
When she was younger, she really liked to spin pens and pencils in her hand (stimming!) and teachers in school suggested her to be a baton twirler.
Her favorite musical instrument is the electric organ Hammond
It's also the guitar, but she learned it on her own.
Her favorite bands are Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Later she was introduced to grunge. Her fav genre is rock and metal. But she also fond of electronic.
Her middle name is Rosemary. Fun fact: I thought of it when I was listening to Deftones song of the same name. And that's really fitting.
She's definitely autistic or schizotypal. She also has bits of BPD (borderline personality disorder)
She has an identical twin sister named Dolores. Dolores is older than Theresa by only six minutes. They grew up apart, that's why they're completely different, despite being identical. But still giving off the same vibe. (Dolores would've been best friends with Julian, since she's more gothic)
Theresa is originally from Halifax, a town in United Kingdom. But ethnically, she's not a pure british. Her mother, who's an ordinary human being, was probably from Spain. Her mom also had some southeast European genes, like Bulgarian or Serbian etc.
Her father belongs to extraterrestrial species of purple haired humanoids with some supernatural abilities. When she was born, she was different from her older twin. Theresa inherited her father's dark purple hair and undiscovered alien superpowers, while Dolores's hair was all black and she is probably, a weaker twin. Meaning On Earth lore lol.
She obviously has slight club feet.
She used to wear glasses (for better vision) but she lost them.
I tried my best to remember all the main headcanons... For obvious reasons I didn't put my NSFW-ish headcanons of MOE! Theresa into this list. Even if I wanted to make it larger. No. Just No. And I also tried my best for this list not to become a MOE retelling :(

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers ♡
Oooh uh uh that's difficult. Let's see...
1. My OCs and stories
Literally my only motivation to live. I'm very, very attached to my kids—they are the culmination of my blood, sweat, tears and soul. So anything revolving around them makes me very happy, inspired and motivated. I will do everything for them!! Art, writing, even making games if I can! Merch too! Plushies, accessories, anything and everything. All for them. The thousands of little fictional people, worlds and stories living rent-free in my mentally ill brain.
Bonus happiness points when other people also like my kids and are interested in getting to know them better. Like, if you take the time to approach me and ask questions about them, are willing to sit through hours of me rambling your ears off about characters that spawned from the depths of my hellish critter mind, and also actively want to discuss them with me and tell me all of your thoughts—that is like the ultimate quality to my quality time love language right there. It's the most idealistic, unrealistic, impossible thing ever though, mostly because I have a lot of kids and like. 20+ different stories with several more AUs. To have someone else be able to digest all of that information? No way. But yeah.
Fanart and fanfiction of my kids also make me very happy. I will treasure each and every one of the art pieces/writing dearly. Basically anything related to my kids, I will cry over. I will explode over my kiddos.
2. Various media
As of right now, I'm fixated on Twisted Wonderland (LEONA), Bleach (HITSUGAYA AND HITSUKARIN), One Punch Man (METAL BAT AND BATAROU) and Blue Lock (RYUSAE AND KAISER). Very much waiting in anticipation for the TWST anime, Bleach TYBW Cour 3, OPM Season 3 and Blue Lock Season 2 + Nagi movie. I'm also really invested in the Final Fantasy series (III, IV, VII, IX, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, Crystal Chronicles EOT and ROF, etc...)! And I'm a casual player of Punishing Gray Raven (very much looking forward to Wuthering Waves by the same company)!
I also like books! Haven't been able to read as much as I'd like to these days, but I have books I've bought that I hope to read soon. Gotta read Six of Crows (yes, Lune, I'll finish it). Have also been wanting to collect Bleach's light novels (CFYOW currently). And TWST's novels and manga too, once they're translated (Savanaclaw manga and novel C'MERE)! Much to look forward to <3 Fanfics of media I like are also really nice to read. When I have more time, I'd like to write for the fandoms I'm in.
Pretty art is nice. Good games are nice. Good stories and wonderful characters are nice. Beautiful writing is nice. I'm very simple haha, as long as the media strikes my fancy, chances are I'll look into it and derive some form of enjoyment from it <3
3. Writing/Drawing
If it wasn't already evident from the above two points, as well as my own profile, I like to write and draw. Very much an arts kid (creativity is another thing that I'm not sure I have, but let's not get into that). I'm not good at speaking, so having visual representations of the things I feel, be it via written words or artwork, is the best way for me to express myself and communicate, I find. And it's also fun! When I'm not preoccupied with other IRL commitments and stuck in creative ruts, that is.
4. Music
I know nothing about music theory or playing instruments. Not a music kid. I just like listening to good music. In particular, I'm a big fan of J-Pop, J-Rock, Rock, Instrumentals, EDM and Dubstep, Gothic-sounding music, and others, depending on whether they strike my fancy or not. Favourite artists/bands include Tatsuya Kitani, Aimer, Mili and ONE OK ROCK. Banger musicians. You're free to drop recommendations too! I'm pretty open to most genres. Though extremely selective with a few others (K-Pop being one of those genres haha oops).
5. Spending time with friends
Pretty clear cut, I think. I don't have a lot of people I'm particularly close to, but I do cherish those I consider my friends a lot. Quality time love language—just spending time with them makes me happy. We don't even have to really be doing anything. I just like having their company, and if they willingly seek me out and want to spend time with me too, that's even better.
And yep, that's all. I can't think of anything else haha. Thank you for the ask, beloved~

Southern Gothic Music Festival
I spent last weekend in Athens, Georgia at the 2nd annual Southern Gothic Festival, where I saw ten bands in two nights. They sure were late nights for me. I'm still recovering from not getting enough sleep. But the bands were great!
Friday night's lineup was
Vincas
Panic Priest
House of Harm
The March Violets
Korine
Tears for the Dying
Saturday's was
Miss Cherry Delight
Deceits
The Chameleons
Vision Video
The rest of Saturday night was DJ'd by Dusty Gannon and Dan Geller.
My short descriptions are:
Vincas is a local Athens band with a swamp-rock psychedelic sound. They were alright, but not inspiring. I confess I like hearing the lyrics, and they seemed to be all drone.
Panic Priest is a post-punk darkwave synth-pop project of Jack Armondo, and was really excellent. He has a great sound, and a good stage presence.
I hadn't heard much House of Harm before the festival, but they are a Boston-based post-punk/synth-pop group. They seemed to want to play in darkness, yeah, it's goth, but still, really? I liked their sound, and I bought a CD.
The March Violets are one of the two reasons I went to the festival. They are a post-punk gothic rock band from the northern UK (Leeds). They started in 1981, and have taken some breaks. They used to be a four person band, and now they are three, but at least my favorite two original members are still with the band. Tom Ashton is an amazing guitarist. I spent a certain amount of their set just watching him play. Rosie Garland is a great singer, songwriter, and performer. She really commands the crowd when she's performing. And the new bass player, Mat Thorpe, was fun to watch, too, as he cranked out the bass along with delivering backing vocals.
I had a little chat after with Rosie, and we found we both like some of the same British electric folk. I mentioned Steeleye Span, and she mentioned June Tabor. We are of similar ages, and so have some similar musical influences. But the March Violets are my favorite Gothic Rock band.
Korine is an interesting electronic pop band. They were playing their guitars onstage, which was probably more visually interesting than playing their synths. I'd heard some of their music before, but hadn't really listened. They were good, and I bought a CD.
Tears for the Dying was the other reason I went to the festival. They are an Athens-based deathrock band, and I have really liked their sound for awhile. They don't tour that far from Athens, so when else was I going to see them? Adria, the singer and songwriter, is writing some of the best political deathrock today, especially focused on LGBTQ experience, and the current political climate.
Miss Cherry Delight is a shock rocker from New York. I'd seen some video and heard some music, so I wasn't shocked. I'll just say she's good at what she does, and she's not to my taste.
I'd heard of Deceits before, but hadn't listened to them. I really, really liked their instrumental sound, which is a very '80s style gothic sound, but was less fond of the lead's singing style. The lyrics were good, but he tends to deliver a line, play a bit, deliver the next line, play a bit, etc. Nothing wrong with that, and I suppose it might grow on me. Other things have, such as drum machines, which I used to hate.
The Chameleons are a post-punk band from the northern UK (Manchester). They delivered a great performance, and had the crowd in their hands. I wasn't going to buy vinyl and try to get it back home, but they had "Strange Times" on CD, and we bought one.
Vision Video played last, and they are the local big goth band. I've seen them several times when they've come through my area, and they're great people as well as being great musicians. Dusty is one of the few goth musicians writing current protest music, and he does it very well. Emily knocks out solid synth, and great backing vocals, and I always like it when she sings lead, whether on her song "Comfort in the Grave", or a cover.
We were pretty tired after two late nights, so we didn't stay long after Vision Video's set.
It was fun. I met a lot of people. I would consider going again!

Note
spicy book recs?
alright let's see
Sierra Simone writes theee best erotic romance, some of my faves include:
The New Camelot trilogy. Kinky King Arthur--very literally a modern King Arthur retelling in which King Arthur is [drumroll] Maxen Ashley "Ash" Colchester, president, erstwhile war hero, and absolute panty dropper, Lancelot his VP Embry Lance (never forget his middle name is Lance) Moore, my favorite romance character ever, and his first lady is Greer Galloway, the girl who heard a prophecy that was like "please don't kiss anyone" and went "okay I'll kiss everyone". MMF, kinky, angsty, dramatic.
Thornchapel. Quartet about six friends who accidentally awoke a gothic looming horror thing as kids and then continue to awake it as adults with kinky sex rituals. Kinda like The Secret History x Picnic at Hanging Rock x Brideshead Revisited with a dash of occult. Two core romances, one is MMF (childhood friends to enemies to lovers and the girl they both love) and one is FF. TW for incest(?). Very kinky, much group sex and sharing occurs.
Priest. One of her more.... approachable books, about a Catholic priest who falls for a woman who tells him all the shit she's done in confession. Also kinky.
Salt Kiss. Just out, a spinoff from New Camelot that retells Tristan and Isolde but with Tristan as a bodyguard and Mark as his boss who he falls in love with before he meets Isolde, who he promptly also falls in love with. Salt in the Wound is a novella that should be read first, ab out Mark and Isolde. Kinky, queer, intense.
Grace Callaway writes really fun historical romances that lean towards the more erotic. Usually, there's a girl who boldly ventures into danger, and a hero who's like "my god I find her brash impulsiveness compelling, I must eat her out and tell her she's bad".
I really love her Lady Charlotte's Society of Sirens series, which is like, Charlie's Angels but Victorian.
Olivia and the Masked Duke. Age gap D/s romance, bratty heroine paired with a hero who's like "I'm your dad's friend, I can't do this"... but she's obsessed after seeing him spank another woman, so she's pretty determined to make it happen.
Pippa and the Prince of Secrets. Childhood sweethearts reunite after her shitty husband dies. Hero is scarred and runs a band of child spies (I died). They're both really into exhibition and ye olde sex swing.
Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl. Feisty diamond of the season girl ends up in a marriage of convenience with a stern earl. Both of them are basically spies undercover, but neither of them knows lol. She's very bratty with him.
Glory and the Master of Shadows. Heroine gets mentored in badassery by the hero, who's desperately trying to resist her because he's Tainted and she's Fresh and Innocent. At one point he eats her out against the wall while her parents are sleeping with the door open down the hall.
You want a mafia romance? Try Mila Finelli. Her Kings of Italy series kicks off with Mafia Mistress & Mafia Darling, a duet about a girl who is kidnapped to marry this mafioso's son, but the dad like "nah, I want you, be my mistress". My favorite in the series is Mafia Madman, which is about a fucking lunatic blowing up a bar to kidnap the heroine for Revenge. He chains her to his bed and they have an enemies to lovers situation because she keeps telling him he ain't shit and he's like "sadly I am entranced by her". Mafia Target is an M/M assassin/target book, most excellent.
In terms of "contemporary sex club" books, I'd recommend The Salacious Players Club, which is about a group of friends who start a sex club (with two additional installments about the most noteworthy patrons of the club). Each book deals with a different kink--praise kink with an age gap, femdom, voyeurism, "we think I'm a cuck but actually me and my wife and my best friend are just mutually in love with each other", daddy kink, etc.
Joanna Shupe (who is also Mila Finelli) writes pretty hot historicals. I would recommend especially
My Dirty Duke. Victorian novella, age gap, heroine falls for her dad's best friend and he takes sexy old timey pics of her.
Sold to the Duke. Heroine enters an auction for her virginity to save her sister from destitution, gets bought by her dead brother's best friend who's like "I'm not going to take what I bought" and she's like "oh yes you are dude.
Her Uptown Girls trilogy is about three sisters who bop around Gilded Age NYC, getting into trouble with 1) dad's lawyer 2) casino owner attempting to ruin dad because revenge 3) powerful gangster. Very hot and very fun.
Fifth Avenue Rebels is my favorite series by her. It starts off with a house party in Newport and then continues into all the drama after. Recommending reading in order, they're all good, and they lead up to one of my favorites, The Duke Gets Even, about the uptight duke and wild child heiress who've been circling each other for the previous books. Very hot, and they both enjoy rough sex.
S.M. LaViolette (who is Minerva Spencer) writes hot historicals. I just finished her Seducers trilogy, which follows three sex workers/former sex workers from the same brothel as they meet people and fall in love with much drama and high stakes. Hot and romantic as fuck. TW: all of the books feature trauma in the past, but little to none is on the page
Paranormals? Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark, which is full of vampires, werewolves, witches, and everything else falling in love and having lots of sex across the world. Long running and pretty violent, so check your TWs, especially for the older ones.
Passion by Lisa Valdez is a really wild erotic historical romance with a hero and heroine who start fucking as soon as they meet in the first chapter. Behind a screen the first go. She has a magic vagina that his massive cock can fit into as a miracle basically.
I mean... if you're willing to go, uh, bold as fuck, Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners is very erotic. Everyone is polyamorous, everyone is bi, it kicks off with a British editor visiting a novelist to work with her, and oops, she's a dominatrix. The central three characters are that dominatrix, Nora, her long time on again/off again lover/dom Soren, who is...a Catholic priest with a sadism fetish... and Kingsley, who owns this kink club Soren and Nora are respectively the #1 and #2 top dogs at. There is a LOT of sadomasochism in this series, a lot of kinky shit, a lot of angst, dubcon and noncon. There's also... some shit I don't think would be written today, like a good amount of underage sex, severely morally questionable relationships, and I don't loooove some of the dynamics written (Kingsley and his long-term partner Juliette make me question much). The writing is beautiful, the characters and dynamics are fascinating, but it's definitely something you should dig into before reading.
But I can't lie, Nora, Soren, and Kingsley have a spellbinding dynamic. It's fucked, but it compels me so. I will add, there were 8 original books (not standalones) and then she revived the series years later. Stop at the first 8 (and their assorted companion novellas and short stories).

artists i associate to the diabolik lovers characters
(+ explanations/headcanons!)
this is gonna be a long post since i absolutely LOVE talking about music. you may take this as a music recommendations post lol. also check my DL playlists out if you want to! 💗
SHU — WITHIN TEMPTATION
let's start with some nice symphonic metal! it's pretty obvious since shu likes classical music. he's relatively calm (maybe too much) but there's a storm inside of him: his double side fits this band a lot imo. moreover, within temptation are powerful but also ethereal, so even though they're "heavy" i think he would give a chance to them :D he would occasionally cover their songs on violin if he feels like it.
REIJI — APOCALYPTICA
staying on the symphonic metal side, we have apocalyptica. this band is so peculiar since it's only formed by three cellos and drums, but i can assure you they're metal lmao. they're neat, polished, elegant and mature: all of these are basic reiji traits! (shu likes them too but he listens to them secretly lol)
AYATO — PARAMORE / HALESTORM
here he comes. my lil punk boi. i think about too many artists when it comes to ayato, cause honestly just every pop punk artist does it for me, but early paramore music gives me HUGE teen emo vibes (both angsty and romantic) that represent ayato so well!! i already stated it in my rocker!ayato headcanons post, but he would blast the RIOT! album at every hour of the day.
regarding halestorm, they represent his "darker" side. they're heavier and more aggressively free-spirited. now tell me if he wouldn't sing Love Bites (So Do I) to yui "jokingly" lol.
KANATO — THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE
how could i NOT associate kanato with the band that basically gave birth to the creepy cute genre, the birthday massacre? their particular goth/industrial sound blending with the vocalist chibi's cute, almost ethereal voice gives so many kanato vibes!! not to mention that the official color of the band is purple lmao. he'd find their album covers very aesthetic, i'm sure of it :D and i also think his fav album would be Violet, the creepiest of them all.
LAITO — LADY GAGA / THE PRETTY RECKLESS
basically laito's two personalities lmao. lady gaga doesn't need any introductions: her provocative and sexy persona shocked everyone and basically all of her songs could potentially be in laito's sex playlist.
the pretty reckless are also indeed sexy, but sexy-depressed??? sexy-angsty?? some of their songs are about embracing one's "dark" side, some others are about dealing with depression (especially in their latest works). i like how they both use the "sexy" façade while actually having more to offer. considering how much laito is broken inside, their music fits so well.
SUBARU — BRING ME THE HORIZON
i'll keep saying this: emo music isn't enough for this guy. this dude listens to metalcore and whatever is heavier than emo pop punk. i actually had issues with picking a band for him cause most of them are casual listens to me but!!! in the end i chose bring me the horizon. angsty emo. pure rage. that's simply subaru for you! sometimes he would sing to their songs in his room but never admit it lol.
RUKI — HIM
honestly, this guy would love gothic rock. i just know it. HIM is the perfect band for him! their dark, elegant, kinda sad sound reminds me of him a lot. and the lyrics too!! they're really poetic, mostly about love and death with a few mentions to eden (pun intended?); the vocalist ville valo often takes inspiration for his lyrics from the books he reads! ruki would definitely dedicate Vampire Heart to yui btw.
KOU — AVRIL LAVIGNE / ICON FOR HIRE
LISTEN. i've been headcanoning this ever since my first DL post ever but kou would be a huge avril lavigne fan. it would mostly represent his frivolous idol persona, but also some of what he hides underneath.
his realest and deepest side is represented by icon for hire. they're heavier, aggressive and talk a lot about sensitive topics. kou has one of the worst pasts among the DL characters and has dealt with pretty much everything going from depression, to abuse, to drug addiction, to suicidal tendencies. i think he'd find some sort of comfort in their songs.
YUMA — P.O.D.
i always pictured yuma as a hip-hop kinda guy, so i think he would like nu metal. being part of the angry and bothered trio with ayato and subaru, he's relatively the calmest one but that means nothing since we're in DL lol. p.o.d.'s passive-aggressive style reminds me of him so much and i swear i ALWAYS think about him when i listen to Youth of the Nation, it's like it talks about him and his brothers specifically.
AZUSA — EVANESCENCE
there are two types of emo: the angry emo and the sad emo. azusa obviously belongs to the second one. i can't really associate him to one genre in particular, it just depends on the ~vibes~, but i chose evanescence for him cause their lowkey eerie, slow style fits azusa a lot. fear of abandonment and selflessness are some of the themes they've covered and Lithium is the song that makes me think about azusa the most.
CARLA — NIGHTWISH
carla has that gothic royal-ish attitude that reminds of the first nightwish era (with tarja turunen as vocalist). i mostly tend to associate the deep, elegant lyrical vocals with carla's deep voice lol. it's just a matter of ~vibes~ again :D
SHIN — FROM FIRST TO LAST
this little shit would only listen to post-hardcore. nothing reminds me of shin more than a cringy "i'm angy >:(" music genre. i actually do enjoy some post-hardcore and from first to last is the exception. i think shin would fit especially in the Dead Trees era, aka FFTL's villain arc™: very silly, angsty and full of villanous vibes but more mature than their previous works.
KINO — AMARANTHE
gamer boi coming through with electronic metal!! amaranthe's futuristic mix of edm and metal + their in-your-face attitude is a perfect match with kino. PvP is THE kino song. the music, the lyrics, the game concept just suit him so well!! slay.

We have a lot of punk-esque Pokémon, actually
And by a lot I mean four, Skuntank, Scrafty, Obstagoon, and Toxtricity (interesting that only one of these are not dark type). This intrigues me because when it comes to other alternative genres we're really drawing at straws, and I wonder why Pokémon Company picked punk four times specifically (not that I hate it, those are some of my favourite Pokémon!)
Something I'd love to see? A grunge, emo, goth (I know we have Gothitelle but we definitely could do with more) or metal based Pokémon, but NOT just the looks and also considering the music and the meaning of the genres themselves. By extension maybe more specific subgenres too, for example I associate Scrafty with Crust Punk all the time. What about an industrial punk Pokémon? Or queercore (THAT WOULD BE SO COOL) or riot grrrl?
This ESPECIALLY goes for if they're making a goth Pokémon ever again because the one line we got, as much as I love them, really was them doing Gothic Lolita and calling it a day (Actually I remember, I did make some Gothitelle regional variants a long way back, I should post those). THEY SHOULD EXPAND! Get super specific, are they doing darkwave? Gothic Rock? New Wave?, Maybe even focus on a specific band rather than subgenres, imagine a Pokémon based on Siouxie and the Banshees or Diva Destruction or the Crüxshadows (I happen to like the last two most).
That being said of course this is nuanced because we the players can interpret things however we want. This doesn't need to happen either! I just thought it would be really interesting to think about (and if y'all have any ideas please share! It'd be super neattt—)
Idk if I actively announced it in my skunk Pokémon post but I was gonna make a new alt skunk Pokémon as part of a pseudo starter trio (still debating how the triangle's gonna be). I'll probably base it off of the more occult nature of some of the music I've heard, but I'm gonna ask around to get a better gauge of how to really get a neat design down. The other members of the trio, if you're curious, are going to be an oppossum and a raccoon partially because of that one Oklahoma starter Pokémon meme and partially because we somehow don't have either as a Pokémon yet I think. They'll be alt too but idk what specifically I'll do for them yet

Hi, you recommended me some music a while back. I finally got through it all (finding time to just listen to music was a bitch) but I loved most of it (by most I mean I only disliked one song. *Alestorm by Alestorm*) but I absolutely loved the rest. Especially Skraeckoedlan and Spaceslug, and was curious if you had any more possible recommendations? Anyway, I hope you have a good day. Thanks again for those recommendations, I really liked listening to them!
Hey ^-^
I'm really glad you liked most of it! I tried to drop a bit of variety so only one miss is honestly a better outcome than I expected. Big on Alestorm personally but I understand that pirate metal is not going to be for everyone lmaooo
And I can absolutely drop some more recs 🤘
Sidenote that I love that you listed Spaceslug as one of the bands you particularly enjoyed. The first type of metal I truly fell in love with was psychedelic doom (Spaceslug being one of the bands) and it really got me through the tail-end of my teens.
Music below the cut 🎵🎶
Honestly, if you haven't already, my first rec would be to check out Spaceslug's entire discography. While Time Travel Dilemma is my favorite album from them, everything they've put out is phenomenal imo.
(The above lowkey goes for most bands I listed before, except Candlemass. Candlemass has a bit of vocalist fuckery and I've not enjoyed their newer albums at all. While you might, I can't say I recommend them. )
I listed some full albums again below but I also took the liberty of just making a fucking playlist. I tried to get it to have a cohesive flow at first but that proved a bit impossible to achieve after a while 💀 so it's just a clusterfuck of stuff. I threw in some songs by bands mentioned before, some I hadn't mentioned but that fit the profile and a few "wildcards"
Full Albums:
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats: Psychedelic Rock/Doom Metal Seen these guys live. They just straight up fuck. They're so good.
Celtic Frost: Thrash/Death/Black Metal (early); Gothic/Doom Metal (later) Personally, I love the almost goth sound in Celtic Frosts' Monotheist as well as their album To Mega Therion
Katatonia: [Doom/Death Metal (early); Gothic/Alternative/Progressive Rock/Metal (later)] Softer, sad boy music, but still metal (fun fact: Movie!Hunter approves)
Purple Hill Witch: Doom Metal Just some good heavy doom.
Honorable non-metal mentions (shock horror ik, but they're good) All Them Witches - Lightning At The Door (desert rock) Witchcraft - Witchcraft (desert rock, early) Somali Yacht Club - The Sun (stoner rock)

What are the junior crewmembers of the Stormbringer (Fiona, Noah, Atlas, ect.) like when they're teenagers? By the time they grow up, the barrier would've been down, so what happens to them? How do their personalities differ from the older kids who grew up into teens on the isle?
I'm sorry this isn't every one of the younger kids (not including Isaac who isn't much younger than Hannah Hook) and that this has taken so long because I haven't thought about everyone yet BUT here are the ones I got/thought of.
I'll add more when I think of them:
------------------------------------------------------------
Fiona: She's a total sweetheart but never loses her gothic style.
Rarely loses her temper but can fry you alive with her words when she finally reaches her limit.
She and Noah eventually open up their own little record, flower, and boutique shop.
She also eventually figures out she's from Moors and tells Maleficent she's not special when Maleficent brings up being from Moors.
Levi: He's more mischievous than he was as a toddler though still helpful and can be a bit of a bad influence to his younger 'siblings'.
Loves sailing and wears baggy clothes in an attempt to look smaller. It does not work because once he hits puberty he's over 8 feet.
Also always wears a sailor paper boat hat even though some people find it weird because he doesn't care what they think because Hannah always told him he could be whatever he wanted.
Tommy: She's a sweetheart, has a cool girlfriend, and is over all happy with life.
She has an army of guinea pigs that she loves to death.
She's the go-to witch for her crew still.
She becomes a ROAR/sword fighting instructor and works with animals in her spare time.
Noah: He is still a ball of sunshine but has more of an attitude and is more dramatic/theatrical/sarcastic as he grows.
He will also wear ty dye everything with a black leather jacket full of patches he sewed on himself with no shame. Someone even found him a tye dye jacket he refused to take off.
He's bit whiney about the fact Hannah isn't suicidal enough to agree to him getting a tattoo without his mom's permission but is still very sweet and kind and loving to her and everyone else.
He loves alternative music (like rock, punk, etc) and eventually opens up a record, flower, and boutique shop with Fiona.
He also dyes the tips of his hair pink at some point and will randomly wear fruit/plant costumes because he can. And gets more tattoos.
Is in Haul's band.
Atlas: Wears mainly dark colors.
Gets more of an attitude as he grows up and due to being one of the youngest of the crew he ends up picking up several of the older crew's hobbies/personality traits.
Tends to look most like Hannah when he isn't switching forms to mess with people.
Looks up to Hannah and Haul the most.
You can very much tell what he thinks because he's not good at covering up his expressions. He also has a tendency to stare.
Over all, due to his varying personality traits, mannerisms, and hobbies and the fact he shapeshifts throws people off a lot lol.
Nadia: Avid music lover and dancer.
Very gracious.
Occasionally grants wishes for fun/as a good deed.
Has trouble saying to people.
Loves helping others. Especially her friends.
Willow: She's a sickly hippie and an environmental advocate.
Noor: Avid music lover and dancer.
Very artsy and bold.
Gets along great with Jordan and occasionally helps with their cases.
Finds a way to work with monkeys because they're her favorite animal.
Elara: Mix between an adrenaline junkie and a hippie.
Cheats at poker.
Very mischievous and she has a bit of a temper.
Always daydreaming.
Very good with people and animals, especially kids.
Can always find a lop hole in a contract (which makes people suspect she MIGHT be part fae).
Loves the world and those around her and animals but is not overly judgemental.
Loves art and she takes up gardening as she ages.
Darius: He is very mortified by his whole 'I curse you think' that he used to do as a child.
Can still come off as stuck up and rude to some people but he's not a bad guy. Can be a bit judgemental though.
He's very sophisticated.
He becomes a historian and is hellbent on preserving historical monuments and objects.
Oh and he's still sickly.
Marcys: Chill hippie.
Bit of a philosopher. Wise beyond his years.
Loves parties and hanging out with people.
Bit of a handy man.
He becomes an archery teacher and he learns magic once he discovers he has it.
Lysander: Chill hippie.
Bit of a nature activist. Vegetarian.
Very sweet boy.
Grows out his hair and wears lots of tye dye.
Bit of a philosopher. Wise beyond his years.
Loves parties and hanging out with people.
He becomes a musician.
Beau: Becomes a model.
Grows more comfortable and confident in his own skin.
He's still a very shy person but he doesn't hate himself anymore.
Loves parties and showing off his collections.
He becomes just very eccentric and is actually confident and comfortable now and not just faking it.
Craven: His style is a mixture of punk and kidcore.
He's sweet and shy but will not hesitate to stand up to those who try to abuse their power.
He still very much loves frogs and toads and is very protective of them.
He's not afraid to play 'dirty' to protect those he cares about.
Jolene: She's very protective of her brother still.
She's wild and full of attitude and sarcasm. Taking very much after Darcy.
She's a mixture of goth and punk.
She's very much a wild child and an advocate for those in need.
She's been to TONS of protests and led several of them herself.
She gives no fucks about any one else's opinion (accept maybe her crew).
Ike: He's a bit of a hermit due to being painfully shy. Doesn't like being around people he doesn't know too well.
Is ride or die.
Very artsy.
Would home alone a burglar.
Is a master at sword fighting.
Has a marble collection.
Will snark you to hell and back, and will nag at you (because he cares).
Skelebar: Has had some bad experiences with people and is very insecure.
Covers as much as her skin as she can and keeps her hair in her face.
She's slowly becoming more outgoing but she's still very traumatized from the aforementioned previous bad experiences.
She's very artsy and very affectionate to those she's close to.
Tries to see the best in people.
------------------------------------------------------------
Feel free to add your own headcanons on them. I could use the help.
