I agree - this ep has such a wholesome vibe to it, and I loved the intertwining storylines 💖 I think this ep is the first time that the phantoms (and especially Daniel) allow themselves to get to know Julie better. While we saw moments of Daniel caring about what happens to Julie previously (see ep 1 where Daniel helped Julie to sing on stage), you could assume that it was just for the music/performances. In this ep, he could have simply kept his mouth shut during the record shop scene, but he didn't. He willingly gave Julie the advice she needed, with no expected reward for himself or the band - definitely a sign of friendship 💖

Watched episode 3 of "Julie e Os Fantasmas" today (thanks again @girlstuffnorp for the subtitles!!). It's so funny how Brazilian Portuguese sounds like my native language, but I still don't understand it. The more I watch and automatically repeat certain words, the more I sound like... a native speaker?

Also I really love this episode. There are so manystorylines intertwined. The boys want to get back into performing in public => Julie has trouble writing lyrics => she and Bia fight because the boys, scared of SP, don't want to reveal their existence => Daniel goes to a concert => Daniel advises Julie to make peace with Bia => the boys show up for her and Pedro => they all organize aperformance on stage.

I was a little surprised to see the opinion that Julie and Daniel started out hating each other. Even in this episode, it's pretty clear that they didn't. Daniel snorts at her way of writing but he keeps playing. Julie wants the boys to show up for Bia because she doesn't want to hide anything from her best friend? Daniel gives in because it's important to Julie, even when he's threatened by SP. I really love that dynamic. I also love that Martim and Félix didn't throw away Julie's stuff. I miss their interactions in the later episodes. They could have been like big brothers to Julie and Pedro.

So, update on my McFly / Julie and the Phantoms song recommendation post that has just blown my mind...

I previously made this post to cover all the McFly (a popular UK band) songs that remind me of the Julie and the Phantoms/Sunset Curve vibes in the show. McFly are really popular in Brazil, and they released a song with popular Brazilian band Fresno in 2023 as part of the Power To Play album - Broken By You... and I've just discovered that Fresno actually had a cameo in Julie e os Fantasmas (the original Brazilian show that Julie and the Phantoms was adapted from) in episode 3, so this whole post has gained a lot more validity in a '6 degrees of separation' kind of way 😍👏

The Julie e os Fantasmas upscaling/English translation/subbing project is actually going really well and we're making good progress? 🥺💖 People on the internet can be so great sometimes😊😍

I've just upscaled the first ep of Julie e os Fantasmas into HD - still working through the translating/subbing side of things, but this is something I've always wanted to do for older shows, and while it takes quite a bit of work to learn the process and render the footage, I hope it will be worth it~! 😊💖
