it's so wild to look at s1!buck compared to s7!buck

#obvs he went from fuckboy to loveboy (rather quick but thats what happens when he realises he wants something bad enough)#which can be paralleled to his bisexual speedrun in 7x04 and 7x05 and also a bit of 7x06. but i'm actually #talking about how he went from the big strong selfless hero protector archetype for abby (but also as a firefighter identity) in s1 #to s7 where he's being taken care of in his relationship with tommy and being prioritized by his partner (who also happens #to be a firefighter) which is new and wonderful but there's also no imbalance of care; tommy is open and honest about how he #feels and buck meets him with open honesty in return - they meet in the middle! - it's just so cathartic for buck's storyline to see #how much he opens himself up to love in s1 and yearns to be wanted as much in return but it doesn't happen (and continues not to)#but with tommy he finally has someone who wants him just as much in return- and moreover we see buck being himself (evan!)#with tommy which is so freeing that he doesn't have to put on the buck persona: he can be goofy and dumb and vulnerable + needy #and tommy wants all of it all of him. i know we haven't seen much of their relationship so far and obvs they're still in the #honeymoon phase - which is why i'm so excited for the more settled phase of their rship (we saw a bit of it in the finale)#to see continued proof of them meeting in the middle. and also more instances of tommy caring for buck and wanting all of buck #but yeh just gimme more of buck being comfortably himself and all that means bc he feels seen and safe and wanted by tommy #.txt #parallels #evan buckley

Every once in a while I think about the ship I've been obsessed over for close to two years now and feel like I'm ascending to another plane of reality. Like sometimes you just encounter a ship that hits every single mark and is perfect in every regard and you're left stunned how something like that can even exist

#Anyways I'mma put the actual inane ramblings in the tags #Medic and Engie make me so ill every time I think about them for a while I feel like tearing into things and biting people and throwing up #How something like that can exist completely defies me #I don't know how something that perfect can exist #I'm typically a multi-shipper and while I still kinda am I honest to god don't really care to write other ships #Not cause they ain't good (they are pretty damn good) but because Engiemedic is just on another level #Like dammnnn!! that's why I've spent so long writing a fic about them!#I can't fathom it honestly how characters like that can exist #They're like a slightly warped reflection of themselves #They're both intelligent mentally ill lunatics with no morals whatsoever #The only thing is that Engie is marginally better at hiding it #If you go into headcanon territory than WHOO!! OHH DAMNNN #Like what gets me the most about Engiemedic is how they're so similar #They think and exist on the same wavelength #In tune with each other. Their neurons braided like wires #If I start talking about how the machine and the flesh are not opposites but rather one in the same we gonna be here all day #I just can't...believe the ship exists #Like man how does this happen #You want humour? Goofy wacky experiments and silliness of them violating several conventions #You want angst? Hell yeah they've got plenty of it #Fluff? Buddy I start wailing and sobbing if they accidentally brush hands while working on stuff #I could write about them for ages and not get bored they can fit in every circumstance #They make me SICK they make me CRAZY I love them so so much #They would do anything for each other #I look at what they have and I can feel like I understand what love is #I need to write more oneshots and minifics about them they're so flexiable and fun #Can't wait to do parallels with them in these upcoming chapters #Either way GODDDDD I love these two so much I could go on for hours about them #especially if I'm allowed to talk about headcanons #sp-rambles

hmm, random thoughts about the FXMQ... a silly headcanon: Feng Xin has very much been hoisted by his own petard by heckling Mu Qing! That is to say, he'll harass Mu Qing relentlessly about something stupid only to be confronted with a similar situation and realise that there's absolutely NO way he can act in anyway similar to Mu Qing or he'll never hear the end of it.

(For example, he has tolerated some truly atrocious divine statues in the past because he's heckled Mu Qing so much about how picky he is with his divine statues that there's no WAY he can say ANYTHING without seeing that smug bastard's face in his head so he just has to bite his tongue and tolerate some unspeakably ugly statues.)

Mu Qing doesn't generally suffer from similar overthinking (he'll just prepare to kick FX's ass if he dares to say anything about it) except for things more directly related to himself. I think he genuinely finds sewing/embroidery/etc rather relaxing work but he'd rather die than have anyone ever see him do it because he's made such a big deal about not doing that sort of "servant" work anymore.

(He actually really enjoyed stitching Ruoye back together because it gave him the perfect excuse -- he's returning a favour!! and Xie Lian is hopeless!! of course he had to!! -- and he secretly considered using white thread to embroider some invisible little designs just because he doesn't quite want to stop... only he knew he'd get caught if he messed with Xie Lian's spiritual device like that and gave up the idea)

#tgcf #bene speaks #so anon will you send me a FXMQ hc back?? 👀 i know others have given that pair more thought than i have #though it does all make me wonder how mu qing (and feng xin) would feel about ruoye after learning about its origins #more fond or more resentful?#or guiltily realise that its been too long and they don't feel anything at all about it but wonder #if they should - if they would if they were better people #this is an irreverent goofy little idea off the top of my head but i dunno... i haven't written much with these guys yet #but i have thoughts #their entire dynamic with xie lian #the way they are so wholly in need of each other but also so intensely distanced from each other is... *chefs kiss*#none of them are REALLY friends by the end of the main series #not really #were they ever friends? proper friends? hard to say since we only have xl's pov and his pov is really biased especially in regard #to his past behaviour - he judges himself quite harshly #were they friends? did was the hierarchy between them mean that they never really COULD cross that divide?#i like to think they were and they did but still. 800 years is a long time #feng xin and mu qing have SUCH a horrifically and deliciously complicated relationship #there's so many old resentments between them + inherent ties that can't quite break + jun wu's fucking meddling #(and my GOD jun wu's meddling in that trio... would love to pick at that more... that would be a great fic #one that parallels fx/mq(/xl) and yy/qyz... give me a hurt/comfort fic that builds on that god #i am fascinated by what a renewed friendship could look like between them after 800 years now that they're all on somewhat equal footing #we got a great taste of mu qing wanting to move past old grudges and really pursue that which healed me after the wwx&jc ending in mdzs #but they all have so much baggage to shed and things to talk about... man it'd be intense #so yeah. this is a long tag ramble to say i definitely HAVE SOME FUCKING THOUGHTS about the mess that is the xianle trio (quartet)#anyway thanks for asking anon that was fun to ramble about

FREAKING OUT I WANNA MEET HIM SO BAD I WANT THE DETAILS BUT IM ON CAMPUS RN #8 MONTH OLD SHEPHERD MIX (not sure what kind of shepherd but ig probably german?). IM COMIN TO GET YOU #this may mess with my 'what if we got a cat after my senior dogs are gone' idea but. but oupy dog #god i love dogs so much uaughhh.... im getting my hopes up so much you guys don't even know #i mean they wouldn't tell us only to say no right #update they are going to meet him + tomorrow we'll bring our dogs and the whole family to meet him #assuming my mom's allergies don't act up around him #but he looks and seems so sweet and goofy and weirdly gentle which is good bc sometimes shepherds can be a bit rough #and that's also good bc like. we have two senior dogs and we don't want him to stress them out or injure them by being a puppy all over them #one of the shelter videos respectfully pans away as he squats to take a shit which is very charming to me #but yeah i really really hope it works out bc like. he seems like such a guy + i love animals So So Much + i don't think anyone else would #swoop in in time if we don't. our shelter is perpetually full and they're a kill shelter #and im choosing not to think about the possibility of us not at least fostering him for the time being #bc i need to keep working and thinking I Killed This Dog By Not Somehow Forcing My Parents Into It is not going to help that #and i have no reason to believe it Will go wrong. all signs point to good atm so im going to trust that #even if it means i eventually get charlie brown footballed by my dogs hating him or something

#new scotland yard #the money game #1972 #classic tv #lwt #bill turner #basil dawson #frank williams #john woodvine #john carlisle #derek smith #pauline delaney #michael balfour #kevork malikyan #noel davis #john dunbar #carolyn jones #john rapley #peter vaughan clarke #tony kirby dignam #jacqueline holborough #well we did a hippy episode; time for a comedy episode. another staple of 70s uk cop shows‚ and actually i have to say this is one of the #better pitched examples: too often shows like this one would produce some throwaway goofy episode that sat incredibly awkwardly within the #series as a whole‚ but this is a very gentle type of wry humour instead of overt nonsense. the case is counterfeit money‚ which as Ward #points out‚ is rather below Kingdom's lofty chief super (but then it's a comic ep‚ it could hardly be a spree killer...). lovely Pauline #Delaney and lovely Derek Smith are the forgers‚ but the script works so hard at making them likeable (and succeeds!) that it's genuinely #disappointing when they're caught. once again to give the show its due‚ this is acknowledged in the ending (Kingdom regrets that 'nice #people' are being punished where nastier sorts are rewarded). we also get a little bit of Ward lore: he evidently lives with his mother (or #at the very least he holidays with her)‚ he can't see without his glasses‚ and the prospect of having his hair cut appears to horrify him #bad luck Ward‚ who does indeed suffer a trim this ep (and gets a fake tash into the bargain). small lore but lore nonetheless!
