Every once in a while I think about the ship I've been obsessed over for close to two years now and feel like I'm ascending to another plane of reality. Like sometimes you just encounter a ship that hits every single mark and is perfect in every regard and you're left stunned how something like that can even exist
#Anyways I'mma put the actual inane ramblings in the tags#Medic and Engie make me so ill every time I think about them for a while I feel like tearing into things and biting people and throwing up#How something like that can exist completely defies me#I don't know how something that perfect can exist#I'm typically a multi-shipper and while I still kinda am I honest to god don't really care to write other ships#Not cause they ain't good (they are pretty damn good) but because Engiemedic is just on another level#Like dammnnn!! that's why I've spent so long writing a fic about them!#I can't fathom it honestly how characters like that can exist#They're like a slightly warped reflection of themselves#They're both intelligent mentally ill lunatics with no morals whatsoever#The only thing is that Engie is marginally better at hiding it#If you go into headcanon territory than WHOO!! OHH DAMNNN#Like what gets me the most about Engiemedic is how they're so similar#They think and exist on the same wavelength#In tune with each other. Their neurons braided like wires#If I start talking about how the machine and the flesh are not opposites but rather one in the same we gonna be here all day#I just can't...believe the ship exists#Like man how does this happen#You want humour? Goofy wacky experiments and silliness of them violating several conventions#You want angst? Hell yeah they've got plenty of it#Fluff? Buddy I start wailing and sobbing if they accidentally brush hands while working on stuff#I could write about them for ages and not get bored they can fit in every circumstance#They make me SICK they make me CRAZY I love them so so much#They would do anything for each other#I look at what they have and I can feel like I understand what love is#I need to write more oneshots and minifics about them they're so flexiable and fun#Can't wait to do parallels with them in these upcoming chapters#Either way GODDDDD I love these two so much I could go on for hours about them#especially if I'm allowed to talk about headcanons#sp-rambles

i know it's been said a million times but i just saw this tag on that post about kris dreemurr:
Tumblr media
and i really want to just lay it out for people who have never played undertale or deltarune that you have NO IDEA how bad it is
spoiler alert, but the big twist in undertale is as follows: you play the whole game as a silent, androgynous protagonist. this protagonist has no real dialogue. every character calls them "the human" and refers to them as they/them because everyone you meet is a stranger. at the beginning of the game you're told to "name the fallen human" and a great deal of people input their own name. of course they do. there is no "suggested" name that autofills like in zelda or the like. you are meant to instinctively input your name.
in the 11th hour of the game's Good Ending you find out that long before you, there was another human. this human's death irreparably changed the world of these characters. the final boss of the game is a traumatized child driven mad by the grief of losing them. for the first time in the whole game, this final boss speaks aloud the name you input in the beginning--he spends the entire back half of the fight calling you by this name, distraught and begging you not to leave him again.
the reveal comes that he is talking not to you, or to your player character, but to the first human who died long ago. he is wrongfully projecting their face and voice and name and actions onto the player character. in the final ten minutes of the game, he asks--where no one else did--what the player character's name is, and they tell him that they are named Frisk. once that name is spoken aloud, all the other characters who previously did not know the player character's name call them by their correct name.
the game literally looks the player directly in the face and forces them to question their assumptions--why did you assume that this character was a standin for you? just because you were controlling them? if you projected a gender onto them, deciding them male or female, why did you do that when everyone in the game views them as their nonbinary self? as the player you are a passive observer. you are gazing into a window and watching the story play out. is that enough for you? can you appreciate these characters without forcibly inserting yourself into their story? can you appreciate frisk for who they are, if who they are has nothing to do with you?
the final boss apologizes to frisk for seeing them as someone and something they are not. depending on what you say and do, frisk has the opportunity to forgive him.
even after this incredibly heavy-handed, incredibly pointed commentary, where every character looks the player in the face and says "this is frisk. they are nonbinary, and they are their own person." for years after undertale's release, people still insisted on projecting a binary gender onto frisk, under the assumption that they were a silent, gender-neutral protagonist meant to be projected onto. quite literally, people will defy the very thesis of the entire game in order to be transphobic.
undertale's meta commentary is one of the reasons it has gone down as a classic. due to how the game presents the act of loading your save as an actual real-world superpower that effects the characters in big ways, a lot of people put undertale down and never pick it back up again. if they are paying attention, they feel the weight of their actions as a god who holds in their hands the lives of these characters. when i complete a Good Ending, that is it for me. i never touch that file again. i go to a different computer, or console, because i was profoundly affected by these meta elements and how i as the player have the power to hurt them.
deltarune was always planned. deltarune was always going to exist, because toby wanted to make deltarune long before undertale. but i also can't help but feel like the response to frisk's personhood and gender had an effect on just how much harder deltarune goes in on the relationship the player has with the player character.
deltarune begins with a character creation screen. you spend the whole time building this character with the assumption that you are going to play as them. within minutes, all your choices are thrown out and the character you create is discarded. you are playing as kris dreemurr.
kris is a person with an established life, family, friends. kris has a history that exists before you drop in, and it's all you will ever hear about. kris could not be more separate from you from the very beginning, and unlike frisk, the game does not attempt to trick you into seeing yourself in kris. kris is kris, a person you cannot name, who is decidedly nonbinary and only referred to as they/them by everyone who knows them, including their own parents. the only tie you have to kris is that you control them, and depending on your choices, kris actively fucking hates you for it.
we don't know why yet, but kris needs the player character to puppeteer them. there is some sort of dependency on us for kris to accomplish whatever goals they have in the story of deltarune. but kris often resists that control, or complies with it maliciously, and the characters around kris will comment that they haven't really been themselves since we dropped in. you can do some really horrible, really heinous shit as kris, and after the culmination of the worst of it, kris actively rips you out of their body and beats the shit out of you just to get the anger and regret and heartache and frustration out.
whereas undertale said "this is frisk! we tricked you into thinking they were meant to be you, huh?" deltarune says "this is kris. you are not kris. you will never be kris. kris fucking hates your guts. kris is only with you by necessity, in fact, the kindhearted thing to do is turn off this game so you never have to take kris's autonomy away again. you are not kris. look me in the eyes. you are not kris."
and still, the transphobes bend over backwards.
"this is kris :)" they say. "kris's gender is up to interpretation 'cause they're a silent protagonist meant to be projected on :)"
do you understand?
do you understand that you are the villain of deltarune?

uhhh self indulgent bat family stuff
masterlist
This is mostly Batfamily X Batsis. Though I think I had enough Conner Kent X Reader to classify this as a thing.
GUYS I WROTE DAMIENS NAME WRONG THROUGHOUT THIS WAIT
Tumblr media
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩ The first thing you learn about your parents is that they are fundamentally incompatible. The second thing you learn is that they will never stop trying anyway.
You don’t remember a time when Bruce and Selina were ever something as simple as together. They exist in contradictions she flirts, he broods; she steals, he stops her; she leaves, he waits. You used to think they would eventually find a middle ground, but you’ve long since given up on that idea.
Bruce and Selina have always been on and off, a constant push and pull. He loves her, but he can’t accept her choices. She loves him, but she refuses to change for him. You grew up watching them dance around their feelings. One moment, she’s draped over his desk in the Batcave, teasing him, and the next, she’s gone without a trace, leaving only a cryptic note behind.
Still, they make sense, in a way that defies logic. And despite all their back and forth, they both love you just in completely different ways. The truth is, Bruce and Selina will never be able to give you the same kind of love.
⸝
“Again.”
You grit your teeth, clenching your fists as Bruce circles you in the Batcave’s training area. You’ve already gone through this drill a dozen times. Your muscles ache, your ribs are sore from earlier blows, but he’s relentless.
You feint left, then pivot sharply, throwing a kick at his side. He blocks it easily. Too easily. His expression remains unreadable, but you can feel his disapproval.
“Sloppy,” he says, stepping back. “You’re letting yourself get tired.”
“That’s because I am tired,” you snap. “We’ve been doing this for over an hour.”
He crosses his arms. “On the field, you don’t get to decide when you’re done.”
You roll your eyes. “Oh, but Tim does? Jason does? Even Damian doesn’t get this much micromanaging.”
Bruce’s jaw tightens. “This isn’t about them. It’s about you.”
“No, it’s about me being your daughter.”
His silence confirms it.
You let out a bitter laugh, shaking your head. “You trained all of them, let them fight their own battles. You trusted them to figure it out. But me? You’re scared to let me.”
Bruce’s expression darkens. “I’m not scared.”
“Then what is it?” you challenge, stepping closer. “You push me harder than you ever pushed them, but you still won’t let me prove myself. What’s the point of all this if you’re just going to hold me back?”
His voice is quiet when he finally answers. “Because I can’t lose you.”
The weight of those words presses against your chest. You want to be angry, to keep fighting him on this, but the raw emotion in his voice makes it impossible.
You don’t know what to say, so you settle for the only truth you have.
“You won’t,” you murmur. “But you have to let me go.”
Bruce doesn’t answer. He just exhales slowly, tension still radiating from his stance. You don’t expect him to change overnight, but at the very least, he doesn’t call for another round. That’s something.
⸝
Selina finds you hours later, sprawled out on the balcony of her penthouse. You weren’t planning on coming here tonight, but after your fight with Bruce, you needed air. And if there’s one thing Selina understands, it’s the need to escape.
She slides the glass door open, stepping onto the rooftop with effortless grace. “I thought I’d find you here.”
You don’t turn to face her. “Bruce is being impossible.”
She chuckles, settling beside you. “He’s still your dad don’t call him bruce, though when isn’t he?”
You sigh, tilting your head back against the cool metal railing. “I just… I don’t know how to make him see me as more than just his kid. He acts like I’ll break if I take one wrong step.”
Selina hums thoughtfully. “That’s what he does. He builds walls around the things he loves, convinces himself it’s the only way to keep them safe.”
You glance at her. “And you?”
She smirks. “Oh, I’d never keep a bird in a cage. I’d teach her to fly.”
There’s something appealing about that. With Selina, there are no rules, no suffocating restrictions. Just a quiet, unwavering confidence in your abilities. Even if you don’t approve of the way she lives, you can’t deny that she makes you feel free.
She pulls a small velvet pouch from her pocket and tosses it into your lap.
You raise a brow. “Do I want to know?”
She grins. “Just a little something I picked up.”
You groan, shoving it back at her. “I told you to stop giving me stolen jewelry.”
Selina only laughs. “It’s not stolen technically. I swapped it for something better.”
“That’s still stealing.”
“Details, darling.”
You can’t help but laugh. She winks, ruffling your hair before standing. “Come on. Let’s get something to eat before you let your father’s brooding ruin your whole night.”
You shake your head but follow her anyway.
For all their differences, Bruce and Selina have one thing in common: they both love you, fiercely.
Your dad will always try to protect you from the world. Your mom will always remind you that it’s yours to take. You exist in the space between them.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
Patrol had been standard until it wasn’t. You and Tim had been watching an arms deal go down from the rooftops of Gotham’s East End. The intel from Oracle suggested this was a simple exchange one that didn’t require much interference. The plan was to observe, gather intel, and report back if things escalated. But you weren’t convinced.
Something felt off. You crouched beside Tim, scanning the warehouse below. The deal was happening inside, but your eyes were locked on a figure slipping through a side entrance, unnoticed by the others.
“Tim, we’ve got movement,” you whispered.
He barely glanced at the figure before shaking his head. “Not our priority. We wait and”
“I’m going after them,” you interrupted, already moving.
Tim grabbed your arm. “That’s not the plan.”
“I have a bad feeling about this,” you insisted, shaking him off. “Cover me.”
And before he could protest, you were already gone.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The side entrance led you through a narrow corridor, crates stacked high along the walls. You moved quietly, using the shadows to your advantage.
The man you were following a mercenary by the look of his armor spoke softly into an earpiece. You couldn’t hear what he was saying, but the urgency in his tone sent a chill down your spine.
You pressed closer, peering around a crate. Then you saw it.
This wasn’t just an arms deal. There were bombs. Crates of them. Military grade explosives, lined up and ready to be moved.
Your stomach dropped.
“Oracle,” you whispered, touching your comm. “We have a problem.”
“I see it,” her voice came through your earpiece. “I’m running facial recognition on the men inside. This isn’t just some street gang these guys are mercenaries.”
“Figures.”
Tim’s voice suddenly crackled through. “You were supposed to wait.”
“I’d say ‘I told you so,’ but I’m a little busy.”
A movement caught your eye. The mercenary was reaching for a detonator.
Shit.
You sprang from cover, knocking him back with a swift kick to the ribs. The detonator clattered across the floor.
“Got company,” you muttered.
“On my way,” Tim responded.
But it was already too late.
The other mercenaries had heard the commotion, and within seconds, you were surrounded.
⸝
Fighting in the Fire
You moved on instinct, blocking the first blow aimed at your head and countering with a knee to the gut. The second merc swung at you with a baton, but you ducked, sweeping his legs out from under him.
The fight was brutal there were too many of them, and you were alone.
A blade sliced across your side, and you hissed, twisting to avoid a deeper wound. Blood soaked into your suit, but you ignored it, focusing on staying alive.
Then the explosion hit.
A grenade thrown from somewhere behind you detonated against one of the stacked crates. The force sent you flying, crashing through a pile of debris. Your ears rang, and your vision blurred.
Somewhere in the distance, you heard Tim’s voice in your earpiece. “Hold on I’m almost there!”
Gritting your teeth, you forced yourself to move.
You weren’t dying here.
When the dust settled, the mercenaries were either unconscious or retreating. The explosives were still intact, and Tim arrived just in time to secure them.
But you were wrecked.
He looked at you, taking in the blood seeping from your side. “You’re an idiot.”
You gave a weak smirk. “Yeah. But at least I was right.”
Tim muttered something under his breath before helping you out of the warehouse.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
The moment you step off the platform, you feel him before you see him.
Bruce is waiting. Arms crossed. Silent.
He’s still in the Batsuit, the cowl pulled back, his expression unreadable but you know better. You’ve seen that look before.
Tim doesn’t say a word. He just gives you one final glance and walks off, leaving you alone with the inevitable.
You brace yourself, but Bruce doesn’t raise his voice. He doesn’t have to. His disappointment is a physical weight in the air.
“You abandoned your partner,” he says, voice like stone.
“I chased a lead.”
“You disobeyed orders.”
You grit your teeth. “It was the right call.”
He steps forward, and suddenly, you feel small. Not because you’re afraid Bruce would never hurt you but because his presence alone is suffocating.
“The right call?” His tone sharpens. “You were injured. You could have been killed.”
“But I wasn’t,” you argue, though the sting in your side says otherwise.
Bruce exhales slowly, his jaw tightening. “You’re reckless.”
“You don’t say that when literally anyone else is on a mission,” you snap.
He doesn’t answer immediately, and that silence stings. Because you already know the truth. You’re different. You’re his daughter. And that changes everything. but it doesn’t Damien is younger than you. You don’t get it.
“You’re dismissed,” he finally says, voice cold.
You hesitate, fists clenched, but there’s no point in arguing. Not when his mind is already made up.
You turn and head toward the med bay, fuming the entire way.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
You’re half out of your suit, sitting on the medical table while Alfred patches up your side, when Jason storms into the Batcave like a force of nature.
“The hell happened tonight?”
You groan. Of course he found out.
Bruce, still near the Batcomputer, barely glances up. “Jason”
Jason ignores him, turning straight to you. His eyes flick to the bloodstained bandages, and his expression darkens. “Who did this?”
“Relax,” you sigh. “It’s just a scratch.”
Jason scoffs. “A scratch?” He turns to Bruce, eyes blazing. “What the hell was she doing in a situation where she could end up like this?”
“I made the call,” you interject. “It was my decision.”
Jason looks at you like you’ve lost your mind. “That’s not a good thing, dumbass.”
You scowl. “It’s part of the job.”
Jason shakes his head, pacing. “Nah. No. You shouldn’t be out there like this. He shouldn’t be letting you”
“I let her do nothing,” Bruce interrupts, his voice a low warning.
Jason laughs humorless, sharp. “Oh, really? Because it looks to me like you’re putting her through the same damn cycle we all went through. How long before she ends up dead in an alley too?”
“Jason”
“No, screw that,” Jason snaps. “You’re just letting her walk into this life like it’s fine. Like it’s not gonna chew her up and spit her out like the rest of us.”
You push yourself up from the table, ignoring the sharp sting in your side. “I chose this, Jason. No one forced me.”
Jason turns his glare on you. “You don’t get it, do you? You think this is just about being a hero, about doing good?” He scoffs. “It’s a death sentence.”
You clench your jaw. “So what, you expect me to just sit at home and do nothing?”
“I expect you to be smarter than this,” he snaps.
Before you can fire back, his eyes narrow, and suddenly, the conversation takes a sharp turn.
“Speaking of dumb decisions,” Jason mutters, crossing his arms. “You’re still with Superboy, right?”
Your frustration spikes. “Oh my godseriously?”
Jason gives you a deadpan look. “knock off superman? Really? You could do better.”
You throw your hands up. “Why does everyone have a problem with me dating Conner?”
Jason rolls his eyes. “Because he’s a walking red flag wrapped in blue spandex.”
You glare. “That’s rich coming from you.”
Jason scowls. “I don’t trust him.”
“You don’t trust anyone.”
He doesn’t deny it.
You exhale sharply, rubbing your temples. “Look, I’m tired, I’m injured, and I don’t have the energy for this right now.”
Jason studies you for a moment, then sighs, running a hand through his hair. His anger hasn’t faded completely, but the sharp edge of it has dulled.
“Fine,” he mutters. “But if he ever screws up, I will break his face.”
You roll your eyes, but there’s a flicker of something warmer underneath the annoyance. Jason will never say it outright, but you know what this is.
It’s not just anger. It’s fear.
Bruce was right about one thing losing people leaves scars. And Jason? He has more than most. He won’t stop you from fighting your battles. But he’ll sure as hell be there when you fall.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
Dating in the Batfamily was a challenge. Dating Conner Kent? That was practically a declaration of war.
You weren’t an idiot you knew what your family thought of him. Bruce didn’t trust him. Superman’s clone, an unpredictable force of power, a boy with too much strength and too little control. That’s how your father saw him, at least. Jason didn’t respect him. “A knock off in a leather jacket? Come on, you can do so much better.”
Tim was wary. Conner was his best friend, but even he had his doubts when it came to you.
And your mother? Selina raised a delicate brow when she first caught wind of your relationship, a teasing smirk playing at her lips. “Oh, darling,” she had purred. “You know how your father’s going to react, right?”
You had sighed, rubbing your temples. “Yes, Mother, I know.”
She had hummed in amusement. “Well, Im starting to think i’m a bad influence, at least try not to be like me and your dad.”
“Mom.”
She had only laughed.
At first, it was easier to keep it hidden. You and Conner met in the shadows, in places no one else would look.
Abandoned rooftops, dimly lit diners on the outskirts of the city, quiet parks in the dead of night where he could float just above the ground, keeping you wrapped in the warmth of his presence.
He wasn’t like Superman and you weren’t just Batman’s daughter.
That’s what you loved about being with him. When he looked at you, he didn’t see the vigilante, the heir to Gotham’s dark legacy. He didn’t see someone who had to be perfect. He saw you. Your flaws, your fears, your messy, complicated emotions. And he never tried to change them.
“I don’t care about what your dad thinks,” he had told you once, leaning back against the fire escape outside your window. “Or your brothers. Or your mom, even.”
You raised a brow. “Not even a little?”
He grinned. “Okay, maybe a little. But it doesn’t change anything.”
You had smirked. “You are stubborn.”
“Says the girl who won’t admit she likes me.”
You scoffed, but he had been right. Liking him had been the easy part. Accepting that he was yours? That had been harder.
Gotham was a city of ghosts.
Your life had been built on shadows, on silent movements, on always thinking five steps ahead. Mistakes had consequences, emotions were weaknesses, and attachments?
They got you killed.
But Conner… Conner made you feel like you were alive.
He never cared about the weight of your family name. He never expected you to be perfect. He let you be wrong, and he still stood by you.
One night, after a brutal mission, you had been exhausted, bruised, and pissed at your father for another round of overprotection.
Conner had found you on the rooftop of your shared apartment, sitting at the edge, staring out at the skyline.
He had landed softly beside you, his presence warm against the cold night.
“You okay?”
You hadn’t answered right away.
Then, quietly, you had admitted, “Sometimes I think its much more worth it to leave this place”
Conner had been silent for a moment before he shifted closer. “Yeah. I get that.”
And you knew he did. Superman saw him as something broken. A project. An accident to be controlled. Bruce saw you as something fragile. Something not ready.
You had glanced at Conner then, at the way he looked at you not as something to fix, but as someone whole. You had leaned into him, and he had let you.
That was the thing about Conner.
He didn’t just love you. He trusted you to be exactly who you were.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
Your father was the last to acknowledge it.
Bruce had spent months pretending you weren’t sneaking out to see Conner, pretending he didn’t know why your patrol routes started conveniently lining up with the edge of the city.
But Bruce noticed everything. eventually, he noticed him. It started with the little things.
Conner was always near you in battle, always the first to shield you from an explosion, always ready to catch you if you fell.
Bruce watched the way Conner would take the hit for you not because he thought you couldn’t handle it, but because he could. Conner was powerful, but he never used that strength to control you. He never underestimated you.
One night, after a particularly nasty fight against a group of assassins, you had ended up battered and bloody, a knife wound deep in your side.
Conner had carried you back to the Cave.
Bruce had been waiting.
The air had been tense as Conner laid you gently on the med bay table, his jaw tight, eyes burning with barely contained fury.
“She shouldn’t have been alone,” Conner had said, voice sharp.
Bruce had met his glare, unreadable. “Yeah she shouldn’t have.”
“Then act right on this and she wouldn’t have been alone,” Conner snapped. “shes strong but I don’t care like assholes like you neither does she.”
Silence.
Then Bruce had simply turned and walked away. It wasn’t approval. But it wasn’t rejection, either. You supposed, in his way, Bruce was starting to understand.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
Looking back now, lying in the med bay once again, you let out a slow breath.
The room was empty.
The cave was silent.
Your body ached, your side still throbbing from the mission gone wrong. You stared at the ceiling, letting exhaustion creep in.
Jason’s words still echoed in your head.
“Tights and a cape? Really?”
You sighed.
They’d never understand.
when Conner held you, when he saw you, when he treated you like something more than just Batman’s daughter… It didn’t matter what anyone else thought.
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
Gotham was different when Dick was in town. Maybe it was the way he carried himself loose, easy, like the city didn’t weigh on his shoulders the way it did on everyone else’s. Maybe it was because he didn’t live here anymore, so Gotham’s shadows didn’t cling to him the way they clung to you, to Jason, to Bruce.
Either way, his presence always changed the air. Right now, though? It just made the tension in the Batcave feel even heavier.
Dick had barely been back for a full twenty four hours before he noticed. The way Bruce’s jaw was tighter than usual, how Jason was avoiding both of you, how Tim kept smirking behind his coffee cup like he was enjoying the chaos. And you?
You were just done.
He didn’t say anything at first. Just watched.
Watched as Bruce checked your gear three times before your patrol. Watched as Jason kept throwing pointed glances your way, muttering curses under his breath like you were the idiot. Watched as Tim leaned back against the Batcomputer with the most entertained expression, like this was his own personal sitcom.
Eventually, Dick just sighed.
“Alright, kid,” he said, slinging an arm around your shoulders. “Burgers. Let’s go.”
Bruce barely looked up. “She has patrol.”
Dick raised a brow. “No, she has burgers with her favorite brother.”
Jason scoffed from across the room. “Favorite? Yeah, okay, Nightwing.”
Tim sipped his coffee. “I don’t know, Jay. He is also my favourite.”
You didn’t argue. You just grabbed your jacket and followed Dick out before Bruce could protest.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The diner was a little hole in the wall place, tucked between two crumbling buildings. Greasy food, crappy lighting, the kind of place that felt like Gotham to its core. You slumped into the booth, arms crossed as Dick slid in across from you.
He didn’t push. Didn’t prod. Just casually unwrapped his burger and took a bite, waiting. It didn’t take long for you to break.
“He treats me like a soldier,” you said suddenly, frustration bubbling to the surface. “Not even a good one. Just one he doesn’t trust to make their own decisions.”
Dick chewed, nodding. “Bruce?”
You rolled your eyes. “Obviously Bruce.”
You picked at your fries. “he’s such an ass, i know he’s had this tough love thing since Jason but god why cant he let me be? Every move I make, he second guesses. Every mission, he reroutes my patrol to keep me ‘safer.’ He acts like I’m some reckless idiot who’s one bad decision away from getting killed.”
Dick hummed. “Jason probably isn’t helping.”
You huffed. “Oh, he’s worse. At least Bruce lets me fight Jason acts like I’m made of glass. Like I need protecting, like I can’t handle myself.”
Dick smirked. “Well, you did almost get blown up yesterday.”
You scowled. “That’s not the point.”
“Mmhmm.”
You ignored him and kept going.
“And then there’s Tim. Who just smirks. Like he enjoys watching me get lectured by dad and chewed out by Jason. Like this is all some kind of entertainment to him.”
Dick laughed. “It is entertaining.”
You threw a fry at him. He caught it without looking.
“It’s just” You exhaled sharply. “Bruce doesn’t trust me, Jason coddles me, and Tim thinks it’s all a joke. And yet Damian gets to do whatever the hell he wants.”
Dick raised a brow. “Ah. So this is about Damian.”
You stabbed your fork into your fries. “It’s not. It’s about all of it. But also? Yeah. It’s about Damian.”
Dick took another bite of his burger, chewing thoughtfully. “Bruce would let him get away with murder?”
“Literally,” you muttered. “Meanwhile, I take one risk one calculated risk and suddenly I’m ‘not ready.’”
Dick sighed, setting his burger down. “Okay. So, what’s the actual problem?”
You frowned. “I just told you”
“No, I mean the real problem. You don’t actually care that Bruce is strict. You expect that. You don’t even care that Jason’s overprotective he does that to everyone he loves.”
You looked away. “…So?”
“So,” he said, smirking, “what you actually hate is that they don’t see you as an equal.”
You frowned.
Dick leaned back, crossing his arms. “They see you as their little sister. Their daughter. They see someone they have to protect, not someone they can trust.”
Your grip on your fork tightened. “And that’s not fair.”
“No,” he agreed easily. “It’s not.”
Silence stretched between you.
Then, casually, Dick added, “But hey, at least Conner treats you like an equal.”
You froze mid bite.
Slowly, you looked up at him.
He grinned.
You narrowed your eyes. “Don’t.”
He tilted his head. “What?”
“Don’t start.”
“I’m just saying,” he teased. “You could’ve gone for someone normal, but nooo. You had to pick another dark, broody, overpowered meathead”
“Dick, I swear”
“You surround yourself with annoying guys”
You groaned, dragging a hand down your face. “Never speak again.”
“Oh, absolutely not.” He leaned forward, eyes glinting mischievously. “In fact, I think I should speak more. Maybe bring this up at family dinner. Hey, Bruce, did you know your daughter has a thing for emotionally constipated guys in leather?”
You threw another fry at him.
He dodged it effortlessly, laughing.
“Dick. I will kill you.”
“I kinda want to meet this guy.”
You glared.
He just smiled. But despite your annoyance, despite everything Bruce’s overprotection, Jason’s coddling, Tim’s smirking something about the conversation helped. Because at least one of your brothers saw you.

You regretted ever telling your family now. Dick knowing about Conner means you’ve been introduced to hell.
oh satan over there? yeah he’s on the body of your bug brother.
Not because he was mad not even because he was disapproving but because he was Dick.
Which meant relentless teasing.
Which meant grinning at you like he had the world’s juiciest blackmail material. Which meant the exact sentence that had been haunting you ever since your burger night.
“I want to meet my younger sister’s hero.”
It had been two days. Two. And he would not let it go.
You tried to avoid it. Tried to make excuses. But Dick was persistent.
So now here you were on a Gotham rooftop, arms crossed, glaring at him as he sat on the ledge like he didn’t have a care in the world.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I’m interested,” he corrected. “I mean, c’mon. I’ve only ever heard about this guy from our brothers, and none of them have anything nice to say.” He smirked. “Figured I should form my own opinion.”
You groaned. “Can you not?”
“Oh, I definitely can,” he said. “I just won’t.”
Before you could argue further, a gust of wind swept through the air, and There he was.
Conner landed a few feet away, hands in his jacket pockets, red cape billowing slightly behind him. His gaze flickered between you and Dick, brows furrowed in mild suspicion.
“You okay?” he asked you first, like he always did.
You exhaled. “Yeah. I just ” You shot Dick a look. “Had a situation to handle.”
Conner raised an eyebrow.
Dick, meanwhile, was grinning.
“Well, well, well,” he said, standing up and brushing off his suit. “The infamous Superboy.”
Conner’s eyes narrowed slightly. “And you’re…?”
Dicks mouth dropped glancing to you “Oh, wow. That actually hurt.” Then he extended a hand. “Dick Grayson. Also known as Nightwing. Also known as best older brother. Nice to finally meet you.”
Conner eyed him for a second before shaking his hand. “…Right.”
Dick’s smirk widened. “So. You’re the little guy my little sister’s been sneaking around with, huh?”
You instantly regretted your entire life.
Conner’s gaze flickered to you before he answered, clearly unsure how to respond. “Guess so…?”
“Oh, I like him already,” Dick laughed. “Got that classic ‘brooding hero’ energy. I see the appeal.”
You glared. “Dick”
“I mean, you do have a type,” he continued, grinning at you. “The whole ‘dark, broody, overpowered’ thing? Classic. keep the family values. I respect it.”
Conner glanced at you, fidgeting slightly as if trying to hold back a laugh. “its not a wrong point.”
You smacked his arm. “Not you too.”
Dick just laughed. “So. How’s the Super life treating you?”
Conner shrugged awkwardly, clearly not sure how to navigate the conversation. “Could be worse.”
“Dealing with my family yet?”
“All the time.”
Dick nodded sagely. “Yeah, that’s rough, buddy.”
Conner gave a quiet, awkward chuckle. “It’s not that bad.” His gaze softened slightly when he looked at you. “She makes it easier.”
Dick raised an eyebrow. Then slowly he grinned.
“Oh, man,” he said, shaking his head. “You’re down bad.”
You groaned. “Dick. it’s gross when you say that. Shut up.”
“I love this,” he continued, delighted. “This is so much better than I imagined.”
Conner crossed his arms and tried to lean against the ledge nonchalantly, but there was a slight stiff tension in his posture. “I wont stop her if she starts fighting”
Dick gasped, hand over his heart. “You’d turn her against me?”
“mmmmm i’m in a Y/n wrongs and right are rights morality,” Conner pointed out with a soft, awkward chuckle.
Dick sighed. “ew you sound like me with women.”
You rolled your eyes. “Okay. We’re done here.”
But before you could drag Conner away, Dick clapped a hand on his shoulder.
“Look, all jokes aside,” he said, suddenly more serious, “I get why Bruce and Jason are… difficult about this. You’re powerful. You’re dangerous. You’re not one of us.”
Conner tensed slightly, glancing over at you like he didn’t know how to respond.
Dick met his gaze. “But I see how you look at her. And I see how she looks at you.” His expression softened. “So, for what it’s worth? You’ve got my approval.”
Conner blinked, clearly caught off guard. He cleared his throat, trying to hide the flush creeping up his neck. “Wasn’t asking.”
Dick grinned. “Oh, I really like you.”
You groaned. “I hate both of you.”
Conner just took your hand, squeezing lightly, trying to brush off the awkwardness that had started to settle in. “You love me.” he whispered
You muttered something under your breath. Dick slung an arm around your shoulders, still grinning.
“Alright, Superboy. Don’t break her heart. Or I will break you.”
Conner didn’t flinch. “You could try.”
“Ohhh, I really really like him.”
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。 ° ✩
The gala was everything you dreaded about Gotham’s elite. The high end designers. The glittering chandeliers. The fake smiles and empty conversations about stock markets and charities you knew were just tax write offs. You were dreading it. But you had no choice. Your dad had insisted.
“You’re going with me,” Bruce had said, his tone one you couldn’t argue with. “Damien’s going too.”
Damien.
You rolled your eyes. If there was one silver lining, it was that Damien would make the night more bearable. Sure, he was insufferable, but deep down, he was your favorite… well one of them.
You didn’t know when it started, but you couldn’t deny it. Every time someone made a comment about you, something snide about being Bruce Wayne’s daughter or how you’d grown up in a world of privilege, Damien was right there. He might have been a bratty little boy, but he had a surprisingly soft spot for you.
He’d bark back at anyone who dared talk down to you. And that always made you smile.
Still, you hated the galas. The whole act of pretending to be someone you weren’t, of feigning interest in the people who rubbed elbows with the most corrupt figures in Gotham. It made you feel like you were just another part of Bruce Wayne’s PR machine, just another Wayne for the rich to admire, the perfect daughter.
You weren’t. At least not in the way they thought you were.
⸝
You stood in front of the mirror in your dress, adjusting the neckline slightly. It wasn’t too flashy. Not as tight or revealing as some of the other dresses you’d seen at these events. It wasn’t your style to try and look like you were above everyone else. There was an elegance to it, sure, but it wasn’t over the top.
You sighed, glancing at the clock. You were almost late. You had not been in the mood to get dressed up and pretend you weren’t itching to leave this stupid party as soon as you walked in.
The door to your room creaked open just a bit, and you turned to see Damien standing in the doorway, his usual scowl plastered on his face.
“Are you done yet?” he demanded, crossing his arms.
You blinked at him. “Are you done yet? You look like a little mini Bruce.”
He shot you a glare. “I’ll have you know, I’m a Wayne too, and I’m far superior to Father in many ways.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Mm. Sure, Damien. If that’s what helps you sleep at night.”
Damien’s eyes narrowed in the way they always did when he was being stubborn. “I’m just here to make sure you don’t embarrass the family again.”
“Again?”
“You know exactly what I mean.”
You chuckled. “Whatever, Damien. Just don’t get in my way.”
He huffed, but his expression softened for a second. “You know, you don’t have to act like you don’t belong there. It’s your place.”
The rare kindness from Damien caught you off guard. You almost wanted to tease him about it, but something in the way he said it made you pause.
Before you could respond, Bruce’s voice echoed from downstairs. “Damien, [Y/N], let’s go.”
You rolled your eyes. No escape.
⸝
The gala was in full swing when you arrived, the grand ballroom filled with well dressed Gotham’s elite, all laughing, talking, and pretending to be better than they really were. As you walked in behind Bruce and Damien, you couldn’t help but feel like a fish out of water.
Damien, ever the mini Bruce, stepped confidently beside you, his posture straight, eyes sharp. He barely even looked at anyone around him, already ready to shoot down any attempts at conversation. You, on the other hand, put on your best poker face, walking with your head high, but your mind already halfway to escaping.
Bruce was already surrounded by some of the usual suspects, but it didn’t take long for the first person to notice you.
“You know,” a woman with a glass of champagne in hand said, smiling in that way people did when they thought they were better than you. “It’s nice to see the Wayne family so well represented. A fine, upstanding family, despite… well, you know…”
The pause was intentional, like she wanted to see if you’d react to the snide remark. It was a comment about your family’s history, a little jab that no one dared speak out loud but always found a way to slip into their conversations. Isnt being a woman supposed to be about supporting other women? Damien arguably had the same history as you.
You opened your mouth to say something, but Damien beat you to it.
“That’s quite enough.” He said it flatly, stepping forward with a warning glare. “I’m sure if you don’t have anything productive to say, you’d be better off leaving.”
The woman blinked, surprised by the bluntness, but Damien was already walking away, his weird little aura behind him like he was some miniature Dark Knight.
You couldn’t help but smile at him. You were right. He was your favorite.
Bruce glanced at you both, an eyebrow arched. He had seen the whole exchange. You could practically feel him holding back a smirk.
“Damien,” Bruce said, his voice a little too controlled. “You don’t have to go picking fights.”
Damien didn’t back down. “I’m simply defending Y/n. Some of these people need to remember their place.”
Bruce didn’t say anything, but the faintest glimmer of approval passed through his gaze, and it was enough.
⸝
The night dragged on, but you found yourself less uncomfortable with Damien by your side. His quiet protectiveness, the way he always seemed to catch the smallest slight before you did, made it easier to navigate the pretentious conversations. Every time someone made a comment about your family, you could feel Damien’s posture tense and his eyes narrow. And each time, he defended you.
Despite everything, despite how much you complained about his bratty tendencies, Damien was your brat. the weight of the night began to settle. The glittering lights of the gala still flickered in your mind, but the presence of your father and Damien beside you made the ride back almost bearable. Damien, as usual, sat stiffly, his posture perfect even in the backseat of the car, while Bruce remained uncharacteristically quiet, his gaze focused out the window.
You couldn’t help but glance over at Damien, who was looking out his own window, seemingly lost in thought. There had been a moment earlier when Bruce had shared a look with him, something small but meaningful a look you couldn’t quite place. But it was enough to make you feel something unspoken between the two of them. It wasn’t often you saw your father show a soft spot for anyone, let alone his own kids.
The car pulled up to the Manor, and as it came to a stop, you turned to Damien, the words already spilling out before you could stop them.
“You know, you’re not as bad as you pretend to be,” you said, voice teasing but soft. “I might just like you after all.”
Damien scoffed. “You shouldn’t like me. I’m better than you, after all.”
“Pfft, whatever,” you grinned, ignoring his words. The sudden burst of affection you felt in that moment made you throw all your self control out the window. Without thinking, you lunged at him, wrapping your arms around him in a tight hug.
Damien let out an exaggerated, dramatic gasp, his body going stiff in shock. “Unhand me, woman,” he hissed, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden outburst of affection.
You ignored his protests, squeezing him tighter. “Nope! Not until you admit that you love me.”
Damien scowled, his face flushing just slightly. “I do not love you, you foolish girl.” But there was no hiding the faint blush creeping onto his cheeks as he tried unsuccessfully to push you away.
Bruce, who had been watching the exchange with mild amusement, cleared his throat from the front seat, as though reminding you both that you weren’t exactly alone. But it was too late to stop now.
You pulled back just enough to look Damien in the eye, still grinning like a cat. “Come on, admit it. I know you love me.”
Damien tried to glare at you, but there was no hiding the slight curve of his lips. “I tolerate you,” he said begrudgingly.
You held him tighter. “Close enough!”
He growled, finally breaking free from your grip. “This is not over,” he muttered under his breath, adjusting his suit with a dramatic flair.
You leaned back, still grinning like an idiot. “Sure, sure, Damien. You can pretend all you want.”
Bruce finally spoke up, his tone surprisingly light. “Alright, break it up, you two. We’ve still got a whole night to get through.”
Damien shot a glare at Bruce. “I’m not the one causing disruptions here.”
You and Bruce shared a look, and for just a brief second, you saw it, something rare and almost tender between the two of them. Damien wasn’t as bad as you’d thought. he had his own way of showing care.
Damien, still grumbling, marched ahead toward the front door, muttering something about how he was going to “train” and “get away from these ridiculous people.” But you knew better. Underneath the bravado, Damien was just like everyone else in this family he cared.
As you stepped out of the car and onto the front porch of Wayne Manor, the cool night air hit your face, carrying the faint scent of rain. You were exhausted, mentally drained from the fake smiles and shallow conversations of the gala, and the weight of the night hung heavy on your shoulders. You couldn’t wait to retreat to your room, get out of this damn dress, and let your thoughts settle.
But as you walked toward the front door, something or rather someone caught your eye. Standing by the door, just under the archway of the Manor, was a familiar silhouette. The figure straightened when he saw you approach, a soft smile appearing on his face.
Conner.
Your heart skipped a beat. You hadn’t expected him to be here, but there he was, waiting for you, like he always did.
“Hey,” you said softly, as you run over to him. your exhaustion suddenly lifting at the sight of him.
He tilted his head, his expression a mix of amusement and concern. “You look… very beautiful tonight.”
You let out a small, tired chuckle. “Beautiful? someone is learning how to express his emotions”
Conner’s brow furrowed, his eyes scanning you like he could see the exhaustion beneath your calm exterior. He stepped forward, his large frame nearly blocking the door. “You okay?”
You nodded, but only half heartedly. “Yeah, just… tired of it all. Tired of pretending.”
Conner didn’t say anything at first, but his gaze softened. His next words were simple, but they always meant more than you expected. “you’re done now, don’t have to think about it now.”
You stepped closer to him, letting the tension in your body melt just a little. “Thanks, Conner. It means a lot. I don’t think I could stand much more of these stupid galas if I didn’t know you’d be waiting for me.”
He smiled at that, the kind of smile that made your heart flutter in your chest, as he stepped aside to let you in. “Always. You know I’ve got your back.”
You couldn’t help but grin. “You’re the best.”
Conner chuckled, stepping back as you passed him. “I’m just doing my job, keeping you out of trouble.”
You shot him a playful look over your shoulder. “Really? Keeping me out of trouble?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Well, you seem to find it even when I’m not around.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, but the moment you passed him, you felt his hand gently grasp your arm, a soft but firm hold that pulled you back toward him.
“What?” you asked, confused.
Conner was staring at you, his blue eyes intense but gentle. “You looked like you needed someone tonight. If you want to talk about it, I’m here.”
You stared at him for a moment, letting his words settle. But instead of saying anything, you simply let out a long sigh and let your shoulders relax. You didn’t need to talk about it now. Not when Conner was here, offering comfort without the need for words.
Instead, you smiled softly, stepping into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his body against yours. “I think… I think I just need this right now.”
Conner wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close as if to shield you from everything outside this moment. “I’ve got you.”
You closed your eyes, letting the familiar warmth of his embrace wrap around you.
The moment of quiet was shattered by the unmistakable sound of someone clearing their throat.
You tensed slightly, already knowing exactly who it was before you even turned your head.
Bruce stood in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, expression unreadable but his presence alone was enough to make the warmth in your chest falter just a bit.
“It’s late,” he said, voice even, but carrying that weight of authority only he could manage. “You should be inside now.”
You sighed, pulling back slightly from Conner but keeping your hand locked around his wrist. Of course, Bruce had impeccable timing.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m going,” you muttered, turning toward the door but you didn’t let go of Conner. Instead, you tugged him along with you, acting like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Bruce’s eyes flicked down to your hand still gripping Conner’s, his expression barely changing, but you knew he noticed.
Conner hesitated for half a second, casting a glance between you and your father, as if gauging whether it was a terrible idea to follow you inside. But you weren’t giving him a choice.
Bruce let out the tiniest sigh, stepping aside to let you both in, but not without a warning glance at Conner.
“Don’t make me regret this,” Bruce said evenly.
Conner just glared at him, tight lipped smile. “Wouldn’t dream of it, sir.”
You definitely caught the way Bruce’s brow twitched ever so slightly at the sir, but you didn’t dwell on it. You just smirked to yourself and pulled Conner further into the Manor, past your father, past all the unspoken tension, and straight toward the one place you could finally relax.
Conner leaned in as you walked, voice low and teasing. “You dragged me in here.”
You grinned up at him. “What, scared of my dad?”
Conner huffed. “No. But I am scared of what your brothers are gonna say when they see me here.”
You just laughed. “Oh, you should be.”
As you pulled Conner deeper into the Manor, you moved quickly, knowing full well that the longer you lingered, the higher the chance of getting ambushed by one of your loving brothers.
You practically speed walked through the grand hall, past the dimly lit corridors.
“Ah, welcome home, Miss.”
You skidded to a stop as Alfred appeared seemingly out of nowhere, standing near the bottom of the staircase with his usual composed demeanor.
Conner tensed beside you, standing up straighter like he was about to get scolded. Clearly, even he wasn’t immune to Alfred’s presence.
You shot the butler a quick smile, still keeping a tight grip on Conner’s wrist. “Hey, Alfred. Gala was awful, as expected. Goodnight!”
And before he could reply, you dragged Conner up the stairs.
“Goodnight, Miss. Goodnight, Mister Conner,” Alfred called after you, voice laced with mild amusement.
Conner barely managed to glance over his shoulder to offer a polite, “Uh goodnight, sir,” before he was pulled around the corner and out of sight.
When you finally made it to your room, you threw the door open and all but shoved Conner inside before shutting it behind you with a sigh of relief.
“Okay, safe,” you muttered, leaning against the door.
Conner raised a brow. “You act like we just broke into the White House.”
You pointed a finger at him. “This house probably has better security than the white house.”
Conner snorted, shaking his head as he glanced around your room. He’d been here before, but it was still surreal for him standing in Wayne Manor.
You walked over to your bed, flopping onto it dramatically. “I swear, I love Alfred, but he always pops up at the worst moments. It’s like a sixth sense.”
Conner smirked, stepping closer. “Maybe he was just making sure I wasn’t sneaking in to corrupt his favorite Wayne.”
You peeked up at him through your arms. “Bold of you to assume I’m his favorite.”
He sat down beside you, resting his elbows on his knees. “You definitely are.”
You grinned, nudging him lightly with your foot. “Flatter me more, Superboy.”
Conner just chuckled, shaking his head. “You don’t need flattery. You already know how great you are.”
You huffed, rolling onto your side. “Tell that to my dad.”
Conner didn’t say anything right away, just let his hand rest on yours, grounding you. You let out a slow breath, the exhaustion of the day finally settling in.
“Get some sleep,” Conner murmured. “I’ll stay as long as you want.”
You didn’t even think about it before squeezing his hand. “Stay.”
And he did.
Conner sat beside you on the bed, his fingers tracing absentminded circles against your wrist. The room was dimly lit, casting shadows across his face, making his blue eyes stand out even more than usual. He was warm, solid, grounding in a way you desperately needed after the night you’d had.
You shifted closer, tilting your head up toward him. He caught the movement instantly, his gaze flicking down to your lips before he leaned in, closing the space between you.
The kiss was gentle at first, unhurried. His lips pressed against yours in a way that made your chest tighten not with nerves, but with something softer, something steady. His hand slid up, fingertips brushing your jaw before cradling your face, pulling you just a little closer.
You sighed against him, your hands resting against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath your palms. He kissed you again, deeper this time, as if memorizing the shape of your lips, as if reminding himself that you were here, that you were his.
A loud noise from the window, followed by the distinct sound of fabric rustling, and then.
THUD.
Conner barely had time to pull back before a voice cut through the moment.
“Oh, come on I just ate.”
You both snapped your heads toward the window, where Tim stood, looking absolutely horrified, like he’d just walked in on the worst crime imaginable.
You groaned, flopping back onto the bed. “Jesus Christ, Tim”
Tim pinched the bridge of his nose like he was experiencing actual pain. “You know I tolerate this relationship for your sake, right? Doesn’t mean I need to see it.”
“Theres a reason we’re in my room with the door closed. what did you even want anyways”
“Ok miss shitbag, I was gonna see if you brought any food from the gala”
Conner, looking far too smug for someone just caught making out, leaned back on his hands. “You could’ve knocked.”
Tim made a disgusted face. “Knocked? On her window? I didn’t think I needed a warning before coming in.” He gestured wildly between the two of you. “I thought I was safe! But no, I have to live with the trauma of seeing my best friend all over my sister.”
You threw a pillow at him. “We weren’t even doing anything!”
Tim caught it with one hand, unimpressed. “There was face touching. That’s enough.”
Conner just shrugged. “If it makes you feel better, I think she’s a better kisser than you.”
Tim immediately gagged, doubling over like he’d been physically attacked. “WHY WOULD THAT MAKE ME FEEL BETTER?!”
You burst out laughing, while Conner grinned like he’d won something.
Tim groaned dramatically, shaking his head as he turned toward the window. “I hate this. I hate both of you. I’m leaving.”
“Goodnight, Tim,” you called sweetly.
“I hope you both stub your toes,” he shot back before disappearing out the window.
As soon as he was gone, you turned to Conner, still grinning. “You did that on purpose.”
Conner smirked. “Maybe.”
You rolled your eyes before pulling him back down into another kiss because if Tim was gonna be dramatic about it, you might as well make it worth it.

CHAOS LIKES COMPANY. A.K.A I LIKE YOU
Tumblr media
pairing mohawk! mark grayson x (vigilante) male reader
you always imagined your grand exit would be more dramatic - maybe a hail of gunfire, a building collapsing in slow motion, at least a decent fucking punchline. instead you're testing a theory: if you disappear now, will mark grayson (your idiot, your disaster, the love of your shitty life) even notice? were you gonna be a tragic loss that haunted him forever, or the weird stain on the couch he learned to ignore?
this is for you MM (mohawk mark) anon! hope you enjoyed this one <3
Tumblr media
you’re standing on a rooftop, the city sprawled out beneath you like a toy set some rich kid smashed in a tantrum. the wind’s tugging at your hair, the strands whipping across your face like it’s personally offended by your existence. not that you mind—gives you that "tragically windswept" look, and hey, maybe the audience is into that.
"nice view, huh?" you say, grinning at no one in particular. "seriously, take a screenshot or something. this is prime wallpaper material."
mark—mohawk mark, because this universe just had to make him extra—lands beside you with a thud that cracks the concrete under his boots. his black-and-blue suit is all "look at me, i’m edgier than the original", complete with that ridiculous "i" logo stretching down to his knees like it’s trying to escape. his mohawk’s practically defying gravity (and common sense), and the bags under his eyes make him look like he hasn’t slept since the invention of energy drinks.
"who the hell are you talking to?" he asks, squinting like he’s trying to spot your imaginary friends.
"the audience," you say, like it’s obvious. "you know, the people watching our lives like some messed-up reality show? hi guys, love ya, don’t forget to leave a like and reblog."
"the… what?" his nose scrunches up, and oh, that’s adorable.
"don’t worry about it." you wave a hand. "they’re cool. mostly. some of them probably ship us already—oh, and spoiler alert, they’re gonna love the angst fest coming up."
mark blinks. "what does that even—you know what, never mind." he shakes his head, but you can tell he feels it—that weird shift in the air when you break the fourth wall like it’s made of wet paper. he doesn’t see them, but he knows something’s off, like the universe just glitched for a second.
"you’re weird," he mutters, but there’s no real bite to it. just that same fond exasperation he’s had since you were kids throwing rocks at mailboxes (okay, you threw rocks—mark just watched and panicked, because back then, he was a "rules" kind of guy. boring).
"and you’re rocking a haircut that screams ‘i got into a fight with a lawnmower and lost’," you shoot back, reaching out to flick his mohawk. he swats your hand away, but he’s grinning now, all sharp edges and "i could kill you but i won’t (today)" energy.
"shut up," he says, but it’s half-hearted. then, quieter: "you’re the only one who gets to say shit like that and live."
and oh, that stings a little, doesn’t it? because you’ve known each other forever—since back when he was just mark, not invincible, not this version of him with blood under his fingernails and a smile that’s too wide to be sane. you know him better than anyone, even when he’s pretending he doesn’t care.
and yeah, maybe you’re a little (a lot) in love with him. maybe you’ve always been.
"lucky me," you say, forcing a smirk. "guess that means i’m special."
"guess it does," he says, and for a second, his eyes flicker with something almost soft.
(too bad you won’t be around long enough to enjoy it. because let’s be real—this is mark’s story, and in every universe, the best friend always dies. you’ve read the comics. you know how this ends. but hey, at least you’ll go out in style, right? saving this idiot’s life like some tragic, self-sacrificing idiot. classic.)
"so," mark cracks his knuckles, the sound sharp in the quiet before chaos, his fingers flexing like he's already imagining them wrapped around someone's throat. his grin is all teeth, too wide, too eager—the kind that makes normal people back up slowly and call the cops. his boot taps impatiently against the rooftop ledge, vibrating with barely-contained violence. "wanna go wreck some bad guys?"
you sigh, dramatic and long-suffering, like he’s just asked you to help him move a couch instead of commit several felonies. "oh, sweetie," you drawl, flipping a knife between your fingers just to watch the way his eyes track it—hungry, amused. "i was already doing that. you’re just late to the party." you tilt your head toward the alley below, where a bunch of armed goons are currently trying (and failing) to look intimidating. "see? they even brought balloons."
mark rolls his eyes so hard it’s a miracle they don’t get stuck, but before he can fire back some half-assed insult, he’s already leaping off the roof, arms spread like he’s embracing the inevitable chaos. you don’t even hesitate—just tuck your weapons back and dive after him, the wind screaming in your ears.
(you always follow. you always will. that's how you'll die, remember?)
the fight starts before your feet even hit the ground.
you land in a roll, coming up with a pistol in one hand and a knife in the other, already firing before the first thug even registers you’re there. the bullet takes him in the knee—"oops, guess you won’t be running anymore. well, not on that leg, anyway."
mark, meanwhile, doesn’t bother with weapons. he is the weapon. he plows into a guy twice his size like a freight train, sending him flying through a storefront window. glass shatters, the guy screams, and mark just laughs, kicking him in the ribs hard enough to crack bone. "aw, what’s wrong?" he taunts, tilting his head. "thought you were tough?"
one of the half-conscious goons on the pavement groans, dragging himself up on trembling elbows. his face is a mess of blood and regret as he glares up at you through one swollen eye. "what the fuck?" he slurs, spitting out a broken tooth. "i thought you guys were supposed to be heroes- AGH!"
your boot connects with his family jewels before he can finish that thought - a picture-perfect punt right to the baby factory, the twig and berries, the ol' troublepuffs. his voice cracks into a shrill, eunuch-like squeal as he folds like a lawn chair, hands cupped protectively over his now-useless crown jewels. "heroes?" you echo, tilting your head with mock sympathy as he dry-heaves onto the asphalt. "aw, cupcake. we're the guys your mom warned you about."
a bat comes swinging at your head from the blindside - amateur hour. you duck without even looking, feeling the whoosh of air ruffle your hair as you pivot and sink your combat knife deep into the guy's meaty thigh. he screams like a banshee as you twist the blade, feeling tendon grind against steel. "shhh, it's okay," you coo, patting his sweaty cheek with your free hand while he trembles. "you're doing great for someone with the fighting skills of a concussed koala."
then - classic move incoming - another meathead charges you with a crowbar raised high. is this also a reference to the author's other fictional crush? you sidestep like a matador, snatching his wrist mid-swing and using his momentum to yank him face-first into your rising knee. the satisfying crunch of cartilage tells you his nose just became abstract art. as he wheezes through the blood bubbling from his nostrils, you grab a fistful of his greasy hair and introduce his forehead to the nearest car hood. DING. "and that's the dinner bell!" you announce as he slumps to the pavement. "congrats, you just failed villainy 101. solid d-minus for the effort."
another shrill scream tears through the alleyway, high-pitched and desperate enough to make you pause mid-swing. you glance over your shoulder just in time to see mark - your personal hurricane of violence - plant his boots against the pavement, grip some poor 6'2 bastard by the waistband of his jeans, and heave. the guy goes airborne with a comical yelp, flipping ass-over-teakettle before crashing windshield-first onto a parked sedan. glass explodes outward in a glittering shower, the car alarm immediately wailing like a wounded animal.
"ohoho," you purr, letting your (new) bloodstained bat rest against your shoulder as you backpedal toward the nearest brick wall. you prop yourself against it, crossing your ankles with deliberate casualness as you watch mark work. the way his muscles flex under that skintight suit should be illegal. the way his mohawk bobs with each brutal movement? downright obscene.
mark doesn't even pause for breath before stomping toward the next threat, those unfairly thick thighs straining against his suit with each step - god, the way that fabric clings to him should be classified as a war crime. his fingers curl around a dented street sign, biceps flexing obscenely as he wrenches it free from the concrete with a screech of protesting metal. when he swings, it's with the practiced ease of a major league slugger, his whole body twisting in a way that makes his ass look absolutely sinful in that skin-tight suit - and then the aluminum connects with some mobster's jaw in a spray of saliva and enamel, three pearly whites skittering across the asphalt like tiny dice.
you swallow hard, your mouth suddenly dry. it's ridiculous how good he looks like this - all coiled violence and barely-contained power, his mohawk sticking up in every direction like he just rolled out of bed (your bed, preferably). the way his shoulders bunch under the fabric when he lifts the sign again, the way his thighs flex as he plants his feet - christ, you could write poetry about those thighs.
but then something tightens in your chest, sharp and sudden, stealing the breath from your lungs. you turn to glare at no one in particular, pointing an accusing finger. "woah woah woah, hey! don't you dare. i know what you're going to write in the next paragraph and i swear to god-"
because one day - soon - you won't be here to see this. won't be here to watch the way the streetlights catch the sweat on mark's neck, or the way his nose scrunches up when he's trying not to laugh at your shitty jokes. one day, you'll just be... gone. and mark will keep fighting, keep living, with some other poor bastard at his side who isn't you.
the thought hits you like a punch to the gut. fuck...
(you hope, when it happens, it's quick. you hope it's saving his stupid, reckless life. you hope he misses you, just a little.)
"homerun!" you crow as you look back at mark, pushing off the wall to deliver slow, sarcastic applause, trying to erase your negative thoughts. no need for allat when you're still alive and breathing, right? one of your gloves comes away sticky with someone else's blood. "ten outta ten for form, but i'm deducting points for lack of showmanship. where's the flair, grayson?"
"shut up," mark growls through gritted teeth, but the way his lips twitch betrays him. he chucks the ruined sign aside like trash before lunging for his next victim - some meathead who clearly skipped neck day. mark's fingers close around the guy's throat, lifting him clean off his feet until their faces are level. the thug's sneakers scrabble against empty air, his face blooming an impressive shade of eggplant as mark just... watches. his head tilts slightly, eyes dark with something between scientific curiosity and outright glee. it's the same look kids get when they poke dead things with sticks.
you whistle low through your teeth, nudging an unconscious goon with your toe. "y'know most heroes don't commit felonies on the daily. pretty sure throttling dudes counts as excessive force."
"we're not most heroes," mark snarls, finally dropping the gasping thug in a heap. he wipes his palms on his thighs, leaving smears of red across the blue fabric. "and i literally saw what you did to those guys back there," he jerks his chin toward the alley mouth where four bodies lay in increasingly creative positions, "so don't even start, hypocrite."
your grin stretches wide enough to hurt. he's got you there. while mark was playing fast and loose with the geneva suggestions, you'd been busy turning a switchblade into a modern art installation in someone's shoulder socket.
"touche, mohawk," you concede, flipping your bat in a lazy arc. "but in my defense?" the aluminum cracks against the skull of some sneaky bastard trying to flank mark. the guy folds like a lawn chair. "my felonies have panache."
mark's answering laugh is all teeth and no remorse. the sirens wailing in the distance mean it's time to bounce, but neither of you move just yet. not when there's still blood in the air and that electric hum of violence buzzing under your skin.
(and if your eyes linger on the way mark's chest heaves, on the wild light in his eyes - well. that's between you and the audience. you can't judge him, can you? perverts.)
luckily for the two of you, the universe apparently decided this shit-show wasn't over yet, with one final act left. with a running start, you plant one boot against the side of a overflowing dumpster and push off, tucking into a neat flip that would make any olympic gymnast weep with envy. you land in a crouch behind two meatheads who clearly skipped villain orientation day - their matching "we do crime" energy is almost cute in its patheticness.
the first guy telegraphs his punch like he's sending smoke signals. you catch his fist mid-swing, twisting his wrist in one fluid motion until the bone gives with an audible snap. his scream is high enough to shatter glass. "dude," you sigh, shaking your head as he crumples to his knees, "you gotta warm up first. this is just sad. i'm embarrassed for you."
his buddy takes this moment to make a terrible life choice, fumbling a glock from his waistband. the barrel wavers wildly as he tries to aim.
you blink. "oh, rude."
the gunshot cracks through the alley, but you're already moving - twisting sideways just enough that the bullet parts your hair like a fucked-up comb. before the echo even fades, your knife is airborne, burying itself to the hilt in the guy's shoulder with a meaty thunk. his shriek is music to your ears as the gun clatters to the pavement. you saunter over, planting a boot on his chest for leverage as you yank your blade free. "thanks for the target practice," you muse, wiping the blood on his shirt before he passes out. "tell your friends."
meanwhile, mark has apparently decided physics are optional. you turn just in time to see him grab some poor bastard by the belt and collar, muscles straining under his suit as he heaves - the guy goes sailing through the air like a ragdoll, crashing through a fruit stand in an explosion of splintered wood and flying oranges. before the first body even stops rolling, mark's already pivoted to grab another thug, launching him ass-first into a trash can with enough force to dent the metal. the clang echoes down the alley like a demented church bell.
"having fun?" you call, spinning your pistol around your finger before slotting a fresh magazine home with practiced ease. the click of it seating is downright pornographic.
"shut up," mark pants for the umpteenth time, but there's no heat behind it - just that breathless, unhinged laughter that makes your stomach do funny things. he grabs the last guy by his collar, hauling him up until they're nose-to-nose. for a heartbeat, they just stare at each other - then mark slams their foreheads together with a crunch that would make a butcher wince. the guy's nose practically explodes in a crimson spray, his eyes rolling back as he collapses in a boneless heap.
suddenly, it's quiet.
the aftermath looks like a tornado hit a butcher shop - bodies strewn about like broken dolls, glass glittering amidst pools of darkening blood, the distant wail of sirens growing steadily closer. mark's chest heaves with each breath, his knuckles split and dripping onto the pavement. his mohawk's gone full hedgehog mode, sticking up in every direction, and there's a smear of someone else's blood across his cheekbone that you have the sudden, overwhelming urge to lick off. weird. last you checked, you were a picky eater.
when he turns to look at you, his eyes are alive - pupils blown wide with adrenaline, that manic grin still tugging at his lips. it's terrifying. it's beautiful. it's so mark that your chest aches with it. so mark that you can literally feel the blood in your veins start to make its way down.
"so," you say, holstering your gun with a flourish, "same time tomorrow?"
mark scoffs, rolling his shoulders as he turns to leave. but he doesn't check if you're following - doesn't need to.
(you always do.)
(≧∇≦)ノ☆
"i feel like i'm going crazy. like my brain's been stuffed with cotton and set on fire at the same time." you stare at the water-stained ceiling talking to no one in particular, fingers digging into your pillow hard enough to tear seams. the eyebags under your eyes have gotten so dark they look like bruises (at least now you and mark match, his from violence, yours from... whatever this is). your hair's a disheveled mess, strands sticking to your forehead after days of bedrotting and only wearing t-shirts and sweatpants. you need to do your laundry soon, you were about to run out of t-shirts and sweatpants from your closet. you can feel death crouched at the foot of your bed like a stray cat waiting to be let in. "i'm literally about to die and what do i do? play fucking martyr instead of just... just..." your voice cracks as you press the heels of your hands against your burning eyes.
this was supposed to be some noble gesture - giving mark a trial run at life without you. you'd dove into the plan half-delirious, imagining how he'd come pounding on your door by sundown, all wild-eyed and vibrating with barely-contained panic. he'd drag you out of bed by your ankle, that adorable angry crease between his brows as he yelled about how you can't just disappear for hours, how he'd torn the city apart looking for you, how maybe - just maybe - he'd been a little more brutal than usual with the criminals today because what if something had happened to you and -
except that's not what happened.
three days. seventy-two hours of radio silence. the notifications on your phone have tapered off to nothing. you keep checking it like a pathetic loser, thumb smearing fingerprints across the cracked screen as you scroll through increasingly distant messages:
sidehoe #1 🐈💨 2:43 AM
we both know you don't got other sidehoes, so why is there a number next to my nickname??
manwhore <3
why would i tell you who the others are? you'd just kill them anyway, so i gotta keep the huzz safe, you feel me?
and don't worry, marky, you'll always be number 1 in my heart <33
sidehoe #1 🐈💨 7:58 AM
oh shut up
8:02 AM
okay when i said shut up, i didn't mean literally
8:15 AM
you alive?
9:29 AM
you haven't watched the tiktoks i sent yet watch them or you're going to get it tonight
9:31 AM
when i said you're going to get it tonight i meant i'm going to grab you by the throat and glue your phone screen to your eyes or sexual intercourse don't even make fun of me for calling it that whichever one gets you to answer my fucking messages
8:16 PM
whatever
"it's like..." you rasp to the empty room, throat raw from disuse. "like when you stop texting your boyfriend first to see how long it takes him to notice you're gone. except you're the idiot who breaks after five minutes because the silence makes your chest hurt, while he's just... fine." you let your phone clatter to the floor, screen-up so you can watch it stay dark. "fuck. that doesn't even make sense. i fucking hate myself."
outside your window, the city keeps turning. somewhere out there, mark's probably elbow-deep in someone's ribcage, not even realizing there's a you-shaped hole in the world. the thought makes you laugh - a wet, broken sound that turns into a sob halfway through. you roll over and bury your face in the pillow that stopped smelling like him days ago.
(you always knew you'd die for him. you just never thought you'd have to watch him stop needing you first.)
(≧∇≦)ノ☆
that suffocating dread finally lifts one night - not because it's gone, but because you've grown too tired to carry it anymore. it had clung to your ribs like tar for days, weighing down every breath no matter how many shitty jokes you cracked or how many bad decisions you made. hiding in your room didn't help either, the walls pressing closer each day like they knew what was coming. part of you wondered if the danger was you all along, if you'd somehow become the villain in this story. but no - you know how this ends. you've always known. you'll die saving that reckless, mohawked idiot who still doesn't realize you're in love with him.
after your first proper shower in days (the water scalding your skin pink), you crack open another soda and watch the bubbles fizz against the can's rim. the carbonation burns your throat as you gulp it down, the sugar rush doing nothing to steady your hands as you strap on your gear. your suit smells like old blood and gunpowder when you shrug it on, the familiar weight of weapons settling against your thighs as you step out into the night.
you take your usual patrol route - yours and mark's route, the one where he always complains about stopping for hot dogs but eats three anyway. every shadow makes your pulse jump, half-hoping you won't see him, half-terrified this might be your last chance if you do. the city stretches below you, all glittering lights and oblivious crowds. it looks peaceful from up here. you almost feel peaceful after finally accepting that you only have a few pages left before your book ends. (liar.)
"but of course," you murmur to no one in particular, gloved fingers tightening around the rooftop's edge, "you've got different plans for me, right?" the wind doesn't answer. then -
a rush of air colder than the night itself. the scent of leather and that cheap citrus body wash mark refuses to stop using.
"where the fuck have you been?" his voice loud like a gunshot, raw with something between rage and devastation. you don't turn. can't. the city lights blur beneath you as you focus on keeping your breathing even. "i said," mark snarls, closer now, "where the fuck have you been, you stupid son of a bitch-"
"you've been doing fine without me." your mask hits the concrete with a dull thud when you pull it off. the smile you force feels like a death rattle. "see? proof you won't completely lose it when something does happen to me-"
"will you fucking quit that?" mark's boots scuff against concrete as he storms forward. when you finally turn, his face is a mess of anger and fear, eyes glassy under the moonlight. "you always - fuck - you always talk like you've got one foot in the grave. why do you keep talking like that? are you- " his breath hitches, hands flexing at his sides like he wants to shake you or hold you or both, "are you planning on killing yourself?"
the laugh that tears from your throat sounds alien even to you. "what? no, i'm not-"
"stop lying!" mark's shout echoes off the rooftops, his composure shattering as tears finally spill over. your chest caves in at the sight - mark never cries, not even when he's bleeding out in some alleyway. his hands find yours with desperate urgency, calloused fingers trembling as they squeeze yours hard enough to bruise. "just... stop. if you're hurting, tell me. am i - " his voice breaks, "am i really not someone you can trust with this?"
he drags your joined hands up, pressing your knuckles to his forehead like a prayer. his breath brushes your wrists as he leans into the contact, hot against your skin. when he speaks again, it's so quiet the wind almost steals it: "i might be a disaster, but i fucking care. so please... let me in."
the dam breaks.
"i'm sorry," the words spill out in a broken whisper, saltwater dripping off your chin as tears carve hot paths down your wind-chapped cheeks. "god, mark, i'm so fucking sorry."
your hands slip from his trembling grip, moving on instinct as you drag him into the tightest embrace your battered body can manage. one hand finds its way between his shoulder blades, fingers spreading wide over the familiar topography of his suit's fabric as you rub slow, grounding circles into the knotted muscles beneath. the other settles at the dip of his waist, thumb tracing absentminded patterns against the curve of his hip through the thin material - that same spot you've secretly ached to touch for years, now warm and solid under your palm.
his breathing hitches when you pull him closer, his forehead coming to rest heavily against your shoulder as his hands fist in the back of your jacket like you might vanish if he lets go. (and he's almost right.) the scent of his shampoo mixes with gunpowder and copper as you tuck your face into the mess of his mohawk, your lips brushing against the shell of his ear when you murmur another apology into the space between you.
but it wasn't enough to just whisper apologies into his skin, not when you still hadn't told him the crushing truth - that soon you'd be nothing more than another ghost haunting his memories.
his breath is warm against your neck as you hold him, his heartbeat thundering against your chest in a rhythm you've memorized through countless battles. you let your fingers card through the short hairs at the nape of his neck, smiling faintly when he shivers at the touch. "hey audience," you murmur silently against mark's shoulder, your voice barely a thought, "funny how i can take a bullet without flinching, but can't say three stupid little words to the guy who actually gives a shit if i live or die, huh?"
mark shifts in your arms, his calloused palm sliding up to cradle the back of your head like you're something precious. the moonlight paints silver and blue along the curve of his cheekbone when he tilts his face up, his eyes searching yours with an intensity that makes your throat tight. you press your forehead to his instead, breathing him in - the citrus of his shampoo, the iron tang of blood from split knuckles, the unmistakable scent that's just mark. your thumb traces the arch of his cheekbone, wiping away tear tracks you pretend not to notice.
(you don't say i love you. but when his lips brush yours in something too soft to be a kiss and too tender to be an accident, you think maybe he knows anyway.)

You know, for so long I tried to pinpoint what exactly about the bank vault scene from CATWS was so exquisitely painful to me (aside from, well, the obvious bits), and I think maybe I finally got it.
This is immediately after the causeway fight and Bucky's interaction with Steve - a brief exchange where, I think, he got to hear Steve's voice for the first time since '45; hell, where somebody called Bucky's real name for the first time since '45, and where Bucky was just forced to really look at Steve, as something other than a target or an obstacle to his mission.
And Bucky hasn't been the same since. Imagine him turning those precious few seconds over and over in his mind on his way back to the bank, trying to make sense of the feelings stirring in his gut.
He can't stop thinking about it. Steve's face is familiar (and when has Bucky been able to associate the word familiar with anything else in the last seventy years?). It brings flashes of long-buried memories back to the surface - perhaps not enough to put the whole story together, but that's not the point here.
The point is, Bucky's gone back to his handler - Pierce. This is the man Bucky defers to, the man he depends on; the man Bucky trusts to tell him who he is, and what his purpose is, and what his life amounts to; the man whose orders Bucky obeys blindly, wordlessly, because Pierce knows best.
Pierce is the brain here; he is authority, he is power, he is cunning: his word is law. He commands Bucky, even guides him in a sense - in a horrible, twisted kind of irony - like a father does his child. He provides a secure fixture in Bucky's existence, a pillar of trust and truth.
Bucky, on the other hand, is only the tool here - the fist of hydra. He doesn't make the big decisions, he doesn't know what's happening in the world out there beyond what Pierce tells him, he doesn't understand the artfulness, the finesse behind these games of power Pierce seems born to play. And how would he, with his scattered brain?
He simply has to trust Pierce's word. Whatever Pierce tells him, that will be the unquestionable truth to him. The Soldier may doubt himself, but never his handler.
AND YET.
And yet right here, right now, Bucky dares to defy this once unbreakable rule.
Bucky brings to Pierce this question that's been churning inside him, that just won't leave him alone. He doesn't really know what it means; all he knows is that it's important, so important that he's willing to risk being sent on a jolly ride on the electroshock chair, just in the attempt to bring this to the light.
And the darndest thing happens, because even when Pierce tries to distract him with his whole "a gift to mankind" spiel, even when he tries to dismiss Bucky's question as to who Steve is, denying any deeper tie to him than "you saw him earlier this week on another assignment", Bucky doesn't believe him.
This poor boy, he's got every reason to doubt himself, every reason to rely on Pierce and take his word at face value (Pierce's word is law, remember?), and yet.
For the first time, Bucky's doubting this man's word, and trusting his own broken mind instead.
Those few seconds where Steve looked at him, gave him a name, saw him in a way nobody has seen him since before he can remember, have sparked something dangerously, unexpectedly powerful within Bucky. Something that runs much, much deeper than any brainwashing; something that gives him the strength and stubborness to question his handler's word, to go so far as to insist (!) that he knew the man he saw on the bridge, to refuse to let this be dismissed, because. Because Bucky knew him. He doesn't know how or why, but he knows this, and he knows that it's important, so important that he needs to hold onto it for as long as he can. This feels personal, intimate - this thing, this truth belongs to him, and he's trying to defend it, even as completely vulnerable and defenseless as he is.
I think that's why it gets to me, because, fuck - even as confused and scared and miserable as he is, even when being compliant and letting this drop would spare him a world of excruciating pain, even when he's been conditioned to think of himself as only a machine and of his handler as his only god, omniscient and omnipotent and infallible, Steve - all of Steve, Steve's place in Bucky's memory, in his heart, in his life - is the only truth Bucky never doubts, and he refuses to deny it. He knows what's coming - Pierce's command to "wipe him" doesn't seem to surprise him at all - but still he refuses to let this go.
Like!!! Fuck!!!!!!!! That's how deeply rooted his love for Steve is!! That's the kind of hold it's got on him!!! That's how much he'd risk for the chance to hold onto the faintest memory of him! Five seconds spent looking in Steve’s eyes and he's ready to overturn and upend and second-guess the very basis of his existence as he knows it. How fucking powerful is that?
I just, I just can't deal with this wtf 😭😭

General & NSFW Prompts Below!
🌹 General Prompts 🌹
Someone figures out the situation. A and B try to figure out how.
A is blindsided by jealousy when someone shows an interest in B.
A and B try to be normal so no one knows. Literally everyone knows.
A is so worried about B falling for them that A fails to realize A already fell for B.
A realizes they are happier with B than any actual significant other they’ve had.
A is totally B’s type, which has never worked out before. As a result, A keeps sabotaging things.
A agrees to a situationship with B because they think it's the only way they'll be able to have them.
A reaches out to B for a hookup but gets rejected, and they each struggle with their disappointment.
A is treating the arrangement like a formal business deal. B gets tired of it and shuts them up with a kiss.
A and B used to be friends with benefits. When they meet again later, the arrangement is still appealing.
A has to leave town for a long time. They have one last night with B but don’t tell them. They’re gone in the morning and leave B wondering what they wanted to say the night before.
Anything else you can think of!
💋 NSFW Prompts 💋
A completely defies B’s expectations of what they’re like in bed.
A and B decide to hook up one last time (or maybe not the last...)
A agreed to take B’s virginity as long as B didn’t catch feelings. It seems like B didn’t. A did, though.
A and B's no-judgment rule means they're finally comfortable to ask for what they've always wanted to try in bed.
A is annoyed with B, so they start loudly complaining/joking about their situationship. Angry/playful sex ensues.
A and B have never felt truly satisfied in bed until there were no strings attached... it definitely wasn't because of finding the right partner.

The older sibling trope is shitty and lazy, and there is no excuse for it to be this prevalent in 2025, point blank period.
(SPOILERS AHEAD for One Piece. Don't read unless you're fully caught up or don't mind. One of them is a thing that hasn't happened yet, at least not where I'm at, it's just really obvious that it will. Also spoilers for OG Fullmetal Alchemist maybe.)
This has been coming for some time, it was really just a matter of when the next time this stereotype shows up and ruins/turns me off from something before I put up this rant.
The Elbaph arc of One Piece has just become my least favorite arc in the series, and has ruined Shanks for me.
As if it wasn't bad enough how obvious it is that Loki is gonna turn out to be the good guy (writing this on May 5th 2025, I am on chapter 1140. Loki being the youngest gave it away.) and it's gonna be like Bruno from Encanto or something, but now Shanks has an evil older twin out of nowhere and this cool character is ruined.
Tumblr media
Constantly making the older sibling in media evil and making the younger sibling the underdog/odd one out is such a dull overdone trope.
Tumblr media
I have had a huge problem with it for years because it completely alienates me and invalidates me and the fact that I'm the only one who even notices or cares about this just adds to it. Like, I am actually mad when I see this.
In media, the older sibling can either be evil or a prissy overachiever who follows the rules (or both) and that is it. This is not fair and when it's the only thing you're shown throughout art and media it has an effect on real life.
And yeah, there are definitely more important/pressing issues than this but I can still be mad about this while also caring about more important stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is very personal to me because growing up, I was a complete inverse of this stereotype. I am the oldest of my siblings, and when we were kids I was the one getting mistreated. I was an undiagnosed neurodivergent child and grew up with a neurotypical and perfect younger sister.
My issues with this trope falls on deaf ears CONSTANTLY and I'm sick of it so l'm sorry but I have to bring up old family stuff. We’re good now and as long as that’s over I have nothing against them. But okay; I'm the oldest. I'M the one who was bullied. I'M the one who was "weird." I was the black sheep. I'M the one who did poorly in school. I'M the one who got the "why can't you be more like your sister?" talk. IT IS NOT FAIR.
It's like writers don't think older siblings are going to be watching or reading anything. We were all kids at one point. We were the same age our younger siblings are now and it's not okay to teach us that we're some horrible monster or a lame NPC for being conceived first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course there are going to be situations where this stereotype really does happen. People exist. There are mean older sisters and brothers. But the fact that I can conjure up this giant ass list (80 examples as now) while I can count the number of good older sibling characters on one hand is fucking appalling. At this point they are really just demonizing older siblings and ass kissing younger siblings because we fetishize the shit out of youth.
Movies and books are supposed to be my escape from real life. It's really harmful that even my escapes tell me l'm not valid and there's no room for me in stories because I'm supposed to be the big bad evil one or the "obey your parents" prissy wet blanket while the younger sibling is always the good, rebellious cool one.
Tumblr media
And I get why; younger = less life experience = underdog = root for the underdog. That mixed in with everyone’s subconscious younger = better. I know the reason but like?? It’s not a good reason? It should be defied and challenged once in a while.
This trope is lazy. Like flat out. There are better ways to write an underdog than this. We all know deep down that younger means better. It doesn't work.
Being younger means you have less experience so of course an older sibling will be better than you at some stuff. It doesn't make for a good "oooo poor lil underdog" story. Imagine being the oldest AND having your younger siblings be better than you at everything and finding success faster than you. It would get the underdog message across even moreso, and that would be a way worse position to be in. Almost no piece of media has ever explored this.
Also if an older sibling is jealous of a younger sibling, they must be wicked and cruel. But if a younger sibling is jealous of an older sibling, we're supposed to feel sorry for them.
I have actually refused to watch shows or movies because of this. It makes me genuinely mad. Especially when I’m so far along in a series or if I have a strong love for a franchise just for it to pull this.
Tumblr media
And it wouldn’t be making me this mad if people at least knew it as a trope. Like if it became as much of a thing as the middle child being invisible and people just recognized it as a trope it wouldn't piss me off this much. If it became an eye roll ‘oop here we go again’ that the audience groans about it wouldn't have driven me to this.
But the fact that I have EIGHTY AND COUNTING examples so clearly authors are doing it with intent and are consciously aware and it still falls on deaf ears where everyone I mention it to is all ‘huh what are you talking about?’ or change the subject or try their absolute hardest NOT to understand is what makes me want to scream. Like, FUCKING 80+!!! There has got to be some real intent behind this and when I call it out no one understands or wants to.
Fiction does have an impact on reality. Constantly putting firtborns under this light affects the way firsborns are treated in real life.
Their struggles aren't taken as seriously, people are quick to side with the younger sibling when there is conflict no matter what, and they'll be considered a failure or a loser if they can't live up to the 'perfection responsible leader' role they never signed up for.
Of all the media I've consumed, I could only find 5 positive examples of good older sibling characters that defy the stereotype in some way (13 if I'm being extremely generous)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To have just 5 - 13 well written good older siblings and over 80 bad ones, that's not okay.
If everything in my life was exactly the same but I was the youngest instead, if I was still the lonely fuckup black sheep who was bullied but I was younger, I would have been able to feel heard and have dozens of characters to relate to. But instead I'm isolated and invalidated even more and can neither have the cake or eat it.
No one ever talks about this, and when I try to everyone will cover their ears and change the subject or misunderstand it.
I’m probably going to blaze this because I will be heard. This current One Piece arc has deeply upset me and I already dedicated so much time and money to the series. Even if I have to keep shouting and posting about this over and over, I will be heard.
I will delete comments that trivialize, invalidate, miss the point, say something like “technically (insert character) isn’t evil,” or otherwise miss the forest for the trees. I will be heard no matter how many times it takes.
EDIT: Tumblr seems to be deleting all the rude comments before I can get to them or read the whole thing, but I caught two comments (rudely) telling me I should have tagged for spoilers.
I would never intentionally try to spoil people, but you are on the internet and this is such a small part of the story, a single panel that tells us the obligatory evil older twin is here. And the other thing I said was a prediction. A really obvious prediction that I know is going to happen but it still hasn’t happened yet? (At least not where I’m at)
One of them also said that because they’re the youngest and was abused, that this trope is good and accurate. And then invalidated my own trauma and experiences, gaslit me that the trope isn’t happening (so the trope is good AND it’s not real) and attempted a smear campaign on me.
I match energies on here. Give me respect and I will give you respect. I am under no obligation to be life’s bottom bitch all the time. This essay subject is THE most triggering and touchy personal thing of mine and I will not be discredited here. You attack me on this subject and I will slap the same right back in your face.
Anyone who was actually concerned about the spoiler could have messaged me with, “Hello, I noticed you blazed a One Piece spoiler about one of the characters and it is potentially going to reach a lot of fans that haven’t read this far yet. Could you cover up the spoiler and tag it as such?” And I would have said “Omg, I wasn’t even thinking about that. Yes, I will put a spoiler warning in. Thank you for telling me.”
That being said, if anyone genuinely has an issue with the top panel being shown and isn’t a dick, let me know and I can figure something out in a way that still gets the point across.
Tumblr seems to be deleting all my replies to people so I’m gonna address comments on here (the ones that Tumblr is showing)
@ the Edward Elric comment: Yes I love Ed so much, he is one of my favorite fictional characters if not my favorite. I only count Brotherhood Ed though, because in the original anime they shoehorn in a secret third older brother to Ed and Al who is evil.
@ Lin from Korra wasn’t the parent’s favorite: No, but she was the hardass ‘follow the rules’ one who tried to follow Toph’s footsteps, while Suyin got to be the rebel going against the grain. It doesn't mean Lin is a bad character, she just meets some of the annoying stereotypes. You can like any of these characters. I even like some of the characters on this list too, but I'm still gonna call it out.
@ not the sofia the first mention: …kay. There’s also one from the Kung Fu Panda TV series on Nickelodeon. This new Shanks/Shamrock brother dynamic is so old and it has on par writing with the Kung Fu Panda TV show.
@ blazing this post is some real older sibling behavior: If you actually read the whole thing and said this, I am jealous of your lack of empathy. I think I would be happier if I was more like you.
@ what about all these good older siblings in One Piece: Ace and Sabo are good but still have some issues. You also have to understand like, Luffy’s not an actual fascist nazi foiled up against poor Ace. I love Ace, but their dynamic is not exactly reverse to Shanks and Shamrock. Nojiko wasn't bad list worthy but she did still have some 'good girl' vibes and she hated Nami when it was frustratingly obvious she wasn't working for Arlong because she wanted to. And she's still the NPC status quo and main character role always goes to the younger one. This isn’t really a problem, like Nojiko’s fine and there’s nothing wrong with having characters like her, but I would say she’s not really a good subversion either. And for Katakuri I'm really talking about oldest, not second oldest or middle. And I only count same-sex/same-gender siblings. That's why I didn't have Zuko as a hard <3 example and have him under more of an honorable mention because he's just such a perfect subversion otherwise. If we're going by boy and girl siblings then there's plenty of good older ones and plenty more bad ones I could have used. Hancock is pretty good.
@ why do you think Tina is a bad one: I know a lot of people do like her, and I knew someone would question her on here. I put her in because I feel like they let the younger sister be the “cool” kind of weird and gave Tina the unflattering kind of weird. But I get that a lot of people actually like her. I might remove her.
For some of the rude comments that got deleted before I could read, I might blaze this again out of spite
EDIT 2:
Tumblr media
Blazing again. Good job. You are proving my point that it's not always this way in real life. A good person wouldn't invalidate someone's trauma and make them feel like their experiences didn't matter.
Younger siblings absolutely do get mistreated by older siblings and it's BS that they have to go through that. But you're gross and a total bigot if you think it can never be the other way around.
A normal good person could have just gone, "I am the youngest and I did get bullied by an older sibling. I didn't realize this was such a huge trope, and I'm thankful I can feel heard but I'm sorry it's not like that for everyone. My experiences are valid and so are yours."
It's also just ageist?? You literally can't control when you were born? What happened to Franky's "EXISTING IS NOT A CRIME" speech.
For a pirate show about love and friendship and empathy, it has some of the nastiest unkind people as fans.

(Spoilers) I'm so fucked up about Lillith and Kayne . Me when emotional and physical abuse from a parent to a child. Kayne really brought someone into this world and (we can infer from how he talks to her and about her) spent the entirety of her life undermining her at every turn and possibly imprisoning her. And the second she tried to go against him and assert her autonomy, he discredited her decision and free will. And killed her for trying to defy him and exist outside of his wishes? Essentially completely robbing her of the ability to ever make decisions again or try to exist outside of him. There's something so fucked up to me about Lillith. Just the idea of someone who spent so many years trying to be free only to be killed and basically permanently frozen in place (through death) by the person she probably spent so long trying to escape. And there's something even more fucked up to me about him basically tearing her face apart while she was forced to stay still and motionless. Like the very act of him destroying her forehead and probably the rest of her face(which includes her eyes, aka canonically her most distinguishing and expressive feature), literally robbing her of her personhood. IM SOOOOO

I saw a comment u made on another post about andrew drugging neil and I thought one thing u said was rlly interesting -
it was about Roland's and andrews relationship, I'm paraphrasing but I think u said something like Roland wouldn't get the 'yes or no' that Neil does because andrew 1) doesn't rlly care about Roland personally & 2) Andrew has no promise to protect Roland
I agree completely, but I've never seen anybody else say it! Andrew often gets portrayed by fans like he would always ask for consent this way, and I never rlly agreed. I don't think he would ignore Roland telling him to stop or anything, but I don't think he'd be considerate or careful like he is with neil.
If u have anymore thoughts on their relationship or andrew or roland in general, I'd love to hear it :)
Thanks for giving me an excuse to dig into this! To talk about Roland I first want to talk about the fandom's misconceptions of Andrew.
The way some fans try to retroactively frame Andrew's handling of Neil as a universal consent practice completely misses why it exists specifically with Neil. This comes up especially now that AFTG has reached platforms like TikTok, where I often see claims like "Andrew wouldn't have drugged people, he cares about consent" or the Allison incident or even, most insane to me, how Andrew shouldn't have kissed Neil that first time on the rooftop without asking first. These interpretations fundamentally misunderstand Andrew's character.
Frankly, I don't understand why you would bother to advcate that a character is acting out of character in the canon material. That just means you don't like the character, which is fine. "The monsters were never redeemed" (which was the original post where I left my comment) is much more textually accurate and a much better take than trying to sanitize Andrew's actions.
Understanding why Andrew and the other Monsters act as they do isn't the same as justifying their actions and people should be a lot more comfortabe enjoying morally gray characters, or, even better, just admit you don't like them. Fans do that with Kevin, Aaron and Nicky all the time, but with Andrew they struggle because they love this cute little gay ship with their soft kisses and touch him and die trope. The desire to ship Andreil seems to create this pressure to soften and force Andrew into a romance booktok mold when the real beauty of their relationship lies in how they accept each other's sharp edges and scars.
Take Andrew drugging Neil, for instance. We can understand the strategic reasoning (keeping Neil from running, maintaining control, protecting Kevin) while still recognizing it as a violation. The same goes for his violence toward Allison or his blowout at Katelyn or how he treats Aaron. Understanding that these actions stem from Andrew's trauma, his protection mechanisms, and his "nothing" philosophy doesn't require us to retroactively frame them as morally acceptable.
We are repeatedly shown that Andrew is not a character who cares about others' boundaries. From the moment we meet him and right until the end he shows this. Andrew is not a good person, and he is not mentally well. He's complex, traumatized, and his actions make sense within his characterization, even when, or maybe especially when they're morally questionable.
This brings us to Roland. With Roland, Andrew has a pragmatic arrangement that lets him focus on his own needs without managing someone else's trauma or emotions. Their dynamic works because:
Roland is experienced and emotionally self-sufficient.
Andrew doesn't have to manage his emotional state or trauma responses.
There's an established history that makes Roland a "safe" option.
Neil was always going to be different. The combination of Andrew's promise to protect him, Neil's extensive trauma history, and his complete inexperience with intimacy shattered every one of Andrew's patterns. Where others fit into clear categories - threat, asset, occasional outlet - Neil defied classification from the beginning. With Roland, it's pragmatic: they both know what they want and can handle themselves accordingly. With Neil's inexperience and extensive trauma and the deepness of the relationship it shakes up everything. If Roland had shown the kind of ambiguous consent that Neil does on the rooftop Andrew would never have pushed through or done anything but stop immediately, but he wouldn't have worked through it either. He would just simply not have approached Roland again.
It is less about "yes or no" even though i initally used that phrase and most about "I won't be like them. I won't let you let me be." It exists specifically because of Neil's circumstances and Andrew's promise to protect him. It's not a universal approach to consent, it's about their unique dynamic and mutual understanding of trauma.
This ties into a larger discussion of how Andrew sometimes gets "fanon-ized" in ways that smooth over his complexities and contradictions. He is not someone who is conventionally "good" or mentally well, but whose actions make sense within his own internal logic and experiences. The Andrew who shows careful consideration for Neil's boundaries, who gets in the shower fully clothed, who asks 'yes or no', is the same Andrew who drugged Neil, nearly stabbed Nicky, and almost killed Allison. Not to mention driving under the influence and, of course, literal manslaughter.
This is not to say Andrew doesn't evolve as a character, of course, but not in a conventional redemptive way. Without turning this into a full character analysis I will sum it up like this: Andrew's character arc is about him going from nothing to something.

SKZ Pack Chapter 14
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trigger Warnings: Chan is a meanie, angst
"What do you mean she was gone from your sight, Minho!" Chan shouted. "She wasn't supposed to leave. I told her. I don't know why you're blaming me! She would have been fine on her own in the covenstead. It's not my fault she is undisciplined." Minho growled in frustration. "You're right. She is undisciplined and reckless, but you should have kept an eye on her, Min. You, of all people, should have known that, " Chan said in frustration.
They had been arguing the past twenty minutes about Y/N following the potential stalker to get a note. Y/N could have easily been jumped or kidnapped. This was so far her stupidest decision and quite frankly Chan was getting fed up with it. Even some of the wolves had commented after today. They understood her recklessness with Ateez because she had Hyunjin and Seungmin, but going solo was something Chan wouldn't tolerate. He had to discipline her, she had been here long enough. "Tell Y/N to come to my office," Chan gruffly said to Minho who nodded and walked off to find Y/N who was currently sitting with Changbin on the sofa. "Chan wants to see you in his office," Minho said as he walked past the living room to head to the cleaning cupboard. "What. Why?" Y/N asked. "Don't know," Minho answered, except he did know, but that was something for her to find out.
When Y/N got up and walked towards Chan's office her blood ran cold. It felt too eerily quiet and she didn't like it. It reminded her of going to see Hongjoong or Wooyoung when she was in trouble and she hated the feeling. It made her feel weak and alone. Right now she didn't want to even knock on the door and go in, but she had to. "Come in," Chan called. His voice was colder than normal. It was distant. Y/N entered the room to see Chan on his computer, typing away. It was almost as if he didn't see her or notice her existence, which wasn't true in the slightest. He was purposely making her feel uncomfortable. He wanted her to understand why she was being punished. "Channie, is everything okay?" Y/N asked meekly. "You tell me little wolf," Chan answered. His arms crossed as he looked at her. "I know it was stupid." Y/N sighed. "But honestly, I wanted to know what they wanted." "Is that all you have to say?" Chan asked. He was shocked at her mere apology.
Chan nodded his head, thinking for a moment before he got up to lean on his desk. His arms were crossed and his chest was puffed out. He was dominating her. Showing her who was the alpha and who wasn't. "Now listen here, Y/N. You have defied every wolf since you've been here. The first time. Fine. I can accept that. You are new to your role. The second time. Alright. The fourth and fifth? Seriously, it's ridiculous at this point, even for an omega like yourself." Chan's voice was low as he emphasised each word so it was branded in her brain. "How many times do we have to keep dealing with you being reckless? Huh? I'm fed up with it because you're not learning your lesson and I'm not punishing my wolves any longer." Chan stated. "There mine too!" Y/N whispered. "I honestly am sorry. I didn't think." "They are not your wolves. You are theirs. You're their omega. That is all. Nothing more. Nothing less. Stop acting like an alpha who can take charge because you're not good at it." Chan answered back. His eyes glancing at her submissive head. She was cowering but also defying him. "Look at me Y/N," Chan called out. " From now on you will not leave this house, until I care to let you out. You will redo your nest because I've seen to it broken. If you defy me once more, you will go downstairs." "Ok," Y/N muttered. Her eyes fixated on the piece of dirt on the floor. She felt embarrassed, humiliated. Worst of all it was him denouncing her completely and destroying her nest that she worked hard on.
When Y/N reached her bedroom her heart shattered. Her nest was gone. Her bedsheets were moved. Blankets were thrown everywhere. Items had been stolen. She felt sick. She couldn't believe he actually did that to her, so Y/N stormed out of her room to find him. "Where the fuck is Chan?" Y/N yelled, frightening Jisung and Jeongin. "He left for work. What's wrong?" Jeongin asked. "My nest. Is broken." Y/N yelled, making Jeongin look down. He had heard Chan was going to punish her but he didn't think he would take it that far. "That was Hyunjin. He broke it. Why don't me and Jisung help you fix it agai-" "Don't bother," Y/N growled as she stomped upstairs straight into Hyunjin's first. Y/N headed towards his wardrobe, pulling out his Versace clothes and ripping them apart, before starting on his bed. She ripped everything apart. Whether that was literally or metaphorically it didn't matter, she was hurt and angry. After she was satisfied she headed towards Chan's office to pull his books off the shelf and messed up his paperwork. She did anything that satisfied her anger.
Jeongin caught her and begged her to stop, stating it wouldn't help but she didn't listen. She was on a mission to relieve her emotions. Jeongin didn't know what to do except follow her pitifully. He felt sad for her. She worked hard on her nest and now it was shattered. "Baby, please don't do this. You'll make it worse." Jeongin cried out again. He wanted it to stop but the wolf growled at him. "At least let me fix your nest. Make it all better." Jeongin begged but the female wolf didn't care. "I honestly couldn't care less," Y/N growled as she shoved him out of the way. Jeongin sulked and walked away back downstairs to Seungmin who hugged the youngest wolf. He was feeling conflicted. Jeongin wanted to call Chan and tell him what he did was wrong but at the same time, it was his fault. Jeongin was the one who told Chan he wasn't happy with her risking things and now he got her punished. "Maybe you shouldn't have done that," Seungmin whispered as he held the younger wolf. "I didn't know he would destroy her nest did I?" Jeongin whined. Jeongin sat up and rubbed his eyes when he heard a bang along with a crash. "What was that?" Jeongin asked. "I think that was your room," Seungmin stated, causing Jeongin to cringe.
Felix came running down into the living room as he saw his mate's angry face going in and out of people's rooms. "What's wrong with baby?" Felix asked as he bit his nails in distress. "Chan punished her for disobedience by destroying her nest-" "HER NEST!" Felix shouted. "That's her safe place. That's something we built together." "I know Lix. I know but we can't do anything now." Jeongin stated. "We can. We can make her happy. We can fix her nest." Felix stressed. "Felix do not go up those stairs," Jeongin commanded causing the beta to whimper, he was hurting because she was hurting. "I have a feeling Chan is not going to like us if we interfere," Jeongin stated worriedly. There was nothing they could do. "Can I at least comfort her? Please." Felix whispered. Before Jeongin could even give permission the beta ran up the stairs and pulled the female wolf into his room, allowing her to growl, hiss and cry. Felix wanted her to let out all the emotions she felt so he could comfort her, but it didn't last long, because Chan came back. "Y/N GET HERE NOW!"

Saw your post in his tag and I completely agree with your Tim loves being Robin post! The “He needs to grow up” thing pisses me off so much. I kind of blame Damian for its existence, but that might be unfair. Isn’t there a comic where Dick lectures Tim about going back to being Robin or being in Bruce’s shadow again? I think I remember reading something like that, but I may be misremembering.
It's not a lecture exactly, but there was a fairly recent comic (here meaning, like I think it was from 2021, 2022? It maaaay have been an issue of Tim Drake: Robin but I genuinely don't remember) where he brought the subject up in the context of like, "It shouldn't be your job to take care of Bruce."
Blame is kinda the wrong word because it implies that Damian the character is "at fault" for the shift, but I do think it's fair to say that Damian/Damian's presence in the narrative is the source of where this sentiment comes from.
Partially because there's a not-insignificant number of Damian stans who seem incapable of separating his in-character resentment of and conflict with Tim from the larger scope of their stories and thus view Tim using the Robin name as a threat/insult to their fav, so they make up and glom onto any arbitrary reason they can come up with for why he should have to change and Damian should get to stay, like two people arguing over who should have to change after showing up to a dinner party in the same outfit.
But mostly it's because of the greater damage that the last ~15 years of pushing Damian as Robin has done to the Robin legacy and its role in the narrative. Which isn't really about Damian himself -- Damian is a perfectly fine character as he is, he tells interesting stories and he clearly offers narrative avenues that people are interested in exploring. The problem is that none of those avenues have damn thing to do with ROBIN.
The story of Damian being/having been Dick's Robin during the Batman Rebirth era is important to his personal story and the story of how he relates to both Dick and Bruce. But outside of that very specific era, which lasted a grand total of -- on the very generous outside -- two and half years, every single one of Damian's stories would be exactly the same if he'd been using literally any other superhero codename.
Because they're not really Robin stories, or Batman & Robin stories. They're either Son of the Bat stories, where Damian deals with the angst of being Batman's son; Batman & Son stories, where Bruce and Damian work on their familial relationship very specifically in the context of a father and his son; or Son of the Demon stories, where Damian unpacks the trauma/conflict/occasional pride of being Ra's al-Ghul's grandson.
The lone exception to this is Juni Ba's The Boy Wonder from last year, which is imho the best Damian story that's ever been written in no small part because it's a love letter to the Robin legacy as told through Damian's eyes while he learns to understand and appreciate that legacy. (It's also about other things but that's because it's a very very good story.)
On the flipside, probably Damian's most popular role, the one that people keep trying to shove both him and his costar back into, is kind of proof-positive of my entire point, because being one-half of The Supersons is a role that was NEVER meant to be filled by a Robin. It's a role that was created for, originated, and always intended to be filled, by a character literally named Batman Junior.
And yet. Because they've insisted, for the last ~15 years, on telling those stories while Damian is wearing a Robin costume, using the Robin name, and advertising under names like Robin: Son of the Bat, it's led to skewing the meta-narrative around what the role and legacy of Robin is supposed to mean.
Instead of being its own, complex and distinctly queer relationship ("queer" not in the sense that it is romantic or sexual, but in that it does not fit neatly into one of society's designated boxes for defining social relationships), the way it was for over 60 goddamn years, Robin has now been half-forced into a singular, distinctly heteronormative and patriarchal definition of "a father teaching his son." And sons are, by societal mandate, meant to someday either leave or overtake their fathers. And since only The Golden Firstborn Dick or the One True Blood Heir Damian is """allowed""" by these heteronormative definitions to someday inherit the cowl, everyone else has to be forced out. "To grow up" as people keep putting it.
The shift in perspective is a direct result of Damian being Robin. It's not the only factor -- Jason's post-UtRH movie popularity factors in too, since fandom tends to zero in on certain elements of his Robin years like the adoption and "Robin gives me magic" and reduce a lot of his less-flattering traits to ~sexy angst and daddy issues~ -- but the way Damian gets used in the narrative is the primary factor from where I'm sitting.
Like I said at the top: it's not Damian, the character's, "fault" or anything. It's just a really frustrating result of people trying to force a more ambiguous relationship into a heteronormative mold that it was never meant to fit, and then getting retroactively mad at characters who were never designed to fit in that mold for breaking it.

I liked reading your horror movie takes. Can you recommend me some of your favs?
I have seen so many that it's hard to remember my all of my favorites. I'll mention some that I think don't get enough attention.
While I'm no longer as obsessed with it as I used to be, You're Next probably still sits at the top of the list of movies I tell everyone to watch, and which no one ever watches. In horror circles, it's well-known due to it's excellent writing and smart plot - a genre defying home invasion movie, and very likely what Hide & Seek cribbed all its best ideas from. I wish I knew what it is about You're Next that makes the non-horror fans so uninterested in giving it a chance, but they're all missing out on a great film.
People Under The Stairs has been steadily gaining attention, but at least once a month I find out someone has never heard of it. It's a kind of coming of age story about a black kid versus the white landlords who own all the buildings around where he lives, and I think Sinners is a good point of comparison to understand why it's so good. It's not quite as successful at everything as Sinners, but considering it's from the 1990s and made by whitest guy ever Wes Craven, it's pretty impressive that it's packed with similar layers of deep subtext, while being on the surface a pure work of horror comedy entertainment. If you're at all interested in horror, this still-obscure film is mandatory viewing.
I place Knives and Skin, as well as Perpetrator, together because they are by the same director, Jennifer Reeder, both reflecting a unique approach to film that sometimes feels almost Lynchian, and stories clearly derived from the point of view of a queer woman. At her best, she takes a quiet, meditative approach and leans heavily into dark, bloody dread. She also consistently maintains a diverse cast with queer characters.
I assume everyone has seen Attack the Block, but every time I think it's widely known, I find someone who missed out on what is hands-down the best creature feature of its decade. Teenage street gang versus alien monsters, what more can you want? In general, it's very rare to develop a film creature with an iconic design, so the fact that Attack the Block accomplished it makes it unique. For some general goofy fun old school practical effects robohorror, I suggest Death Machine and Hardware also.
Sound of Violence hardly seems to get any attention, but I think it's brilliant, and the legitimate heir to Videodrome. Also Videodrome. It's not much exaggeration to say the entire genre of body horror exists due to Videodrome's overt and subtextual transformation between video and flesh. Sound of Violence pursues similar ends but, as the title suggests, via audio.
I find myself referencing The Ranger pretty regularly. Another Jenn, Jennifer Wexler, has two feature films under her belt which are both good, but The Ranger stands out in my mind because of how much it's a traditional survival / slasher horror under the hood, but makes so much more of the conceits in those types of movies than most other big budget female protagonist horror films. Her other film is also excellent, but The Ranger is the kind of movie which will ruin dozens of other films, because you won't be able to stop wishing they handled their material as skillfully as The Ranger. You may also enjoy Abigail (the one from 2023, not the one from 2019, not the one from 2024), which is a bit rough in places but really carries through with its finale.
Greener Grass defies description in many ways, or rather it's easily cataloged into a series of bafflingly strange and painfully uncomfortable scenarios, but as a complete movie it's difficult to place. It could be called arthouse, surreal, drama, etc in addition to or outside of horror. But if you're all out of John Waters and David Lynch, yet still craving something of that suburbia nightmare, put down the Tim Burton movie - drop it. Drop it! Okay. Then watch Greener Grass.
I guess also shout out to extremely fuckable looking writer/director Adam Egypt Mortimer for his trifecta of a "nothing but underseen and unappreciated bangers" career in Daniel Isn't Real (2019), Archenemy (2020), and Some Kind of Hate (2015). Special mention of best haunting movie ever They Are Still Here, and greatest spin on the tired cannibal redneck cliche in Lowlifes.

As big as a woman in her ninth month of pregnancy, your abdomen was swollen, making your skin so thin that you feared any sudden movement would tear it. The veins were bulging - pitch black instead of green and blue - beneath your now almost translucent skin, similar to the appearance of thin parchment about to tear.
The size is disproportionate and seems to have increased in size since you left the hospital, which should be impossible since that was only a few hours ago. Your balance point has been completely altered so that it seems that any breeze could knock you to the side. Your skin, once healthy, now looks cadaverous and is covered in red and purple spots and marks, possibly indicating internal bruising.
You dare to put a hand on the swelling and at that moment the “baby” moves, the movement so strong and agonizing that you fall to your knees on the bathroom floor, screaming in pain, dragging yourself out of the bathroom and onto the soft bed that seems much more comfortable than the cold floor. Lying down and looking again at the intruding swelling, you can see the outline of small hands with long, thin fingers, or the shape of a face or a foot. You fear that at any moment the thing inside you will tear its way out, leaving you open and bleeding, dead on the bed.
A burning sensation in your womb that exudes an unbearable heat, as if you were being cooked from the inside out. Inside your belly there are beatings that sound like cursed drums being played incessantly in your ears.
thump - thump - thump
The sound of what you assume is a heart - this thing has a heart; - drives you crazy, robbing you of any possibility of calm.
thump - thump - thump
It's so loud that it feels like you're going to die, while you groan in pain on the bed, something invisible to your eyes moves around the room, appreciating your desperate appearance. The creature decides to make itself present because something falls - NOT THROWN - on your bed right next to your head, a book... DEATH NOTE.
Curious and eager to distract yourself from the internal pulsations of your body, you touch the notebook. It is exactly after this act that your eyes see a grotesque creature in front of you staring at you. The name comes naturally to your mind.
RYUK RYUK RYUK RYUK RYUK RYUK
"Finally," came a voice from behind, it was a hoarse and frankly disturbing voice, similar to the high-pitched noise of a broken radio, the voice triggered all your survival instincts - which asked you to run - which uselessly paralyzed you. Your heart dropped from your chest when you felt a pair of long, thin arms wrap around your waist, skeletal hands with cold, bony fingers spreading across your belly. “I found you, sweet apple, that’s how it is, right? That’s how humans address other humans they’re attracted to, with terms of endearment, right?” Your breath caught in your throat when you felt him lean in to inhale your scent, his pointed, curved nose dragging along the fragile skin of your neck, a possibly useless barrier between Ryuk’s teeth and your veins and arteries, nothing would stop him if he wanted to bite you hard enough to rip a piece off, it would be an interesting death to say the least, dead after being torn apart - devoured - by a shinigami, how would that look to the autopsy teams?
And a few seconds after this reunion came the memories, the memories of that night.
Closing your eyes, you hoped it was a nightmare - a hallucination caused by sleepless nights and poor diet - from which you would wake up soon. Closing your eyes, you begged God - anyone who existed and was kind enough to show a shred of mercy for your insignificant soul - that this wasn't real.
You ran through the streets with the desperation of a possessed woman, the devil was chasing you and you would do anything to escape him, luck seemed to be on your side when you saw the door of an old warehouse. Entering and quickly closing the door, you sat in the farthest, darkest corner and prayed not to be found. Sitting on the dirty floor, you thought and silently begged for many things.
You silently begged for shinigamis not to be real, for your childhood friend not to be Kira, for death notes to never be real, for the long, slender monster behind you not to exist; but as always, your prayers were ignored. When you dared to look at the door, you saw nothing and sighed in relief, only to scream in fear when you realized that the creature had been hovering over you the entire time, looking at you with amused and paternal eyes, as if your attempt to escape was nothing more than a childish tantrum.
Forced to face the demon - or god of death - who had descended from the air above you and held you in a bastardized parody of a lovers' embrace, holding you with a strength that hovered somewhere between enough to render you completely immobile and enough not to break your bones or tear your skin.
He didn't give you time to think about begging, your body was suddenly turned and you were forced to face him, your hands tried uselessly to push him away without success, his hands went down from your belly to your thighs squeezing them as if he wanted to feel the softness of your mortal flesh that contrasted completely with whatever existed beneath the rigid cadaverous blue-white tissue that Ryuk called skin. Deciding that your clothes were too much of a hindrance, he dug his nails into them, pulling you due to the force, and you screamed as he ripped them and tore them from your body body, causing painful scratches and friction on your skin. Blood from your shallow cuts stains the floor and you groan in pain as you fall to the ground, now naked.
You curl up in a fetal position on the cold floor of the abandoned warehouse as the creature removes the last piece of clothing that protects your dignity. His hands, cold as the hands of a corpse, seem to leave an icy burn as they grab your thighs to turn you onto your stomach. His silence was the worst part, his curious and almost innocent eyes staring at the most intimate part of you were agonizing, the way he lightly ran his claw over your flesh made you tremble in fear at the possibility of him tearing the most vulnerable part of you, that's when he lowered himself even lower until he was lying on the floor on his stomach with one hand on each of your thighs to keep them open and his face glued directly to your center, staring at your sex.
From your precarious position, lying on the floor with your legs spread, you could see his mouth opening and his huge, monstrous tongue rising towards your pussy. You involuntarily tried to close your thighs around the shinigami's head in a useless reflex, a scream of terror and revulsion echoed from you, echoing off the walls of the warehouse. The texture of the god of death's tongue was unlike anything you could imagine, somewhat similar to a cat's tongue, it was rough, yet soft and too wet at the same time. The strange texture made you hyperaware of every movement of the wet organ inside you, it was as if with every movement Ryuk aimed to reach the deepest point of you. Subconsciously, you wondered if he would stop to take a breath or, better yet, you wondered if shinigamis needed to breathe. If he didn't, the one who could die choking and without air - due to overstimulation - would be you.
You are completely helpless and, in an attempt to create some distance between the shinigami that is feasting between your legs, you try to throw yourself away, but because Ryuk's hands are still holding you, all that happens is that you lose your balance, ending up with your head down, with your waist and pelvis up. In this strange and embarrassing position, Ryuk's tongue goes deeper until...
Oh
OH
His tongue entered the deepest and most protected place of your body - your fertile and healthy uterus - your belly contracts with each movement of his tongue - which moved unnaturally, moving as if he wanted to lick all the most intimate parts of your uterus to taste it - and you felt your abdomen tighten. Oh, bloody hell.
Damn you.
A tired moan is torn from your throat dry and hoarse due to the several screams and moans before. The terror you were initially feeling had blinded you to the signs of pleasure your body was clearly signaling, which is why when you squeezed the wet, slender appendage during what was the most devastating orgasm of your life, you were completely taken by surprise.
Unable to form coherent words or move, due to all the strength in your body having deserted you, you could only watch in silence as Ryuk slowly pulled the offending appendage away from your pussy, all the while letting out a few laughs as if the sight of your open womb was hilarious. Sticky fluids were smearing the lower part of his face, and you could feel your ass getting cold as the fluids above it were cooling and dripping onto the floor below you. For a moment, you thought it was over… until he sat down next to your prone body and placed a large hand on top of your belly.
“You know when I was still with Light, before he got boring? We had a talk,” he rambled. You could almost see a glint of excitement in the depths of his eyes as he rambled on. “A conversation about human women and how they yearn to breed with the most attractive and successful candidate, well, that conversation got me thinking about something fun.” You could hear the manic glee in his voice.
At that moment, you felt a cold sensation, as if the entire temperature of the room had dropped several degrees. Your spine froze when you heard another voice - if you could call it a voice - join the warehouse.
“Who?” You couldn’t see, as your vision was plunged into darkness, because as soon as the temperature changed, Ryuk covered your eyes with the other hand that wasn’t on your belly. With only your auditory sense, you managed to make out a few words from the strange voice that sounded frankly like a fork scratching a blackboard.
“Ryuk… you… really this:… sounds fun… why not?” Whoever the other one was - presumably a shinigami - seemed to be older and more powerful than Ryuk, if the way Ryuk himself seemed to have to bargain was any indication. Naked on the floor of an abandoned warehouse, at the mercy of two creatures, you didn’t know what to expect. You could have imagined many things, but nothing prepared you for this.
Something - a mist or cold liquid - emerged from somewhere you couldn't imagine, moved through your body as if searching for an entrance, and it was in your blindfold that it found its way. Entering and swelling your vaginal canal, the liquid mist found shelter in your uterus, already open due to Ryuk's administrations. All you could do was moan as your uterus grew heavier and heavier, as if whatever was inside you was turning into something solid.
All you could do was moan, writhing uselessly as your body was changed from the inside out. When you stopped being invaded by that thing, Ryuk took his hand off your eyes. Fearfully, you looked at your belly and saw the result of the violation.
Your belly is large and swollen, like that of a pregnant woman. You see contortions under your skin, like a baby kicking.
Your mind, unable to process anything, went blank, but before the darkness enveloped you, Ryuk made you give up your Death Note.
Placing your hand on your belly, you watch in horror as the thing inside you moves as if recognizing the presence of the greater shinigami.
“We have a lot to talk about, but first we will receive the mini apple, be prepared, it will hurt.” He hummed and, after he said those words, pain exploded in your being.

I was thinking about your "She/Her Aku". Do you think she would change her voice to be more feminine? If yes, what would it sounds like? Like Ikra voice or maybe something completely different?
(context, we're talking about this post.)
honestly, if aku were transfem, I think her voice would stay the same for the same reasons I headcanon she wouldn't change her appearance:
the words used to try to describe what the hell aku is include "all-powerful wizard," "demon sorcerer," and "tree ogre." aku is the scion/reincarnation/continuation of "the black mass." not included in this list of things-that-aku-is is "human being." are we so sure aku would care about human standards of femininity?
and, conversely: what the hell are aku's standards of femininity? we don't know! Could be anything! in canon he interacts with like four female characters in the entire show, and doesn't even acknowledge two of them as female.
aku was born with a fully-formed personality, no peers, no parents, no superiors, and immediately started conquering the world. aku's whole life has been spent interacting with slaves/prisoners, shadow-demon servants, and groveling underlings. aku has never been in a position to receive masculine gender socialization, nor suffer any consequences for defying it; so aku's current appearance, mannerisms, voice, etc. aren't the result of social coercion, but personal preference.
aku has tyrannically ruled the world for longer than anyone can recall, in spite of strenuous objections from just about everybody. she is beholden to no human laws, traditions, taboos, or phobias. if she wanted to substantially alter her appearance/presentation, she wouldn't have seen any reason NOT to.
aku has existed in her current form for thousands of years. if she wanted to substantially alter her appearance/presentation, she would have realized that by now and acted on it.
aku is a shapeshifter. no hormones, surgeries, or voice training needed. if she wanted to substantially alter her appearance/presentation, she could have already done so, instantaneously, the moment the urge arose.
in whatever timeline, whatever scenario, i think that aku looks and sounds exactly the way aku WANTS to look and sound.
so in a scenario where aku's been using drag as a way to microdose on being a girl, i don't think the egg crack comes from "wait a second... i want to look like ikra & jill." i think it comes from "wait a second... what i want is to be perceived all the time the way people perceive me when i look like ikra & jill." gender euphoria located not in the mirror but in the stranger calling her "ma'am." she doesn't want to change herself, she wants to change how other people see her.
if she were a mere mortal human living on early 21st century earth, that might require being forced to perform an unnecessarily high "minimum level" of femininity to appease the gender binary police who are withholding her pronouns until she's met their arbitrary & silly standards.
but she's not a mere mortal human living on early 21st century earth. she's aku. she owns the planet. she can and would decree that anyone caught misgendering her gets the death penalty. the old fogeys will grumble but the next generation will be told from birth that the tyrant ruling their planet is female and they'll just be like okay, sure.
she is only obligated to perform as much conventional human-style femininity as she feels like performing; and i think if she were interested in performing more femininity than she currently is, she'd already be doing it.
disclaimer that this is all just a thought experiment to me. i don't actually headcanon aku as transfem. (though i do headcanon him as You Cannot Gender Me In A Way That Matters.) however if i WERE seriously headcanoning aku as transfem it would be like this. as a fantasy character she's in a very unique situation where NO social or biological factors are holding her back from looking/sounding/acting EXACTLY the way she WANTS to look/sound/act. ergo we must assume she's already perfected her appearance & presentation; and therefore transition must happen on a different axis.

vampires pt. 3 | pt. 2 | pt. 1
tags: 2.2k, vampire! seungcheol x human reader, 18+, mdni, dubcon, rough sex, toxic codependency, emotionally volatile seungcheol, degradation (verbal and physical)
Tumblr media
weeks, maybe even a month had passed since you’d last seen seungcheol. you couldn’t tell — time didn’t really exist within the walls of the castle. though gone, his absence was everywhere. it was an absence that made your guilt grow day by day — the weight of which was now suffocating you. what if he’d found another? he hadn’t even called for you once.
the first time seungcheol had ‘called for you’, you thought he was going to kill you. vampires never met with humans alone. they would use the slaves in groups or out in public but seungcheol wanted to see you privately. maybe since he was the one who captured you and brought you here, he felt he had the right to have you all to himself.
since that night he would call for you occasionally, fucking you alone, and until he was satisfied. but that had all stopped. until today. you’d been summoned at midnight, your mind a complete mess throughout the day. you’re not sure why you feel so anxious — you haven’t even done anything wrong.
when it came to these nights, seungcheol had three simple rules:
one, you would be freshly bathed. he wanted you to be washed off traces of anyone else — coming to him pure, untouched.
two, your hair would be tied in a single braid — neat, out of your face.
and third, you would be dressed in a modest white nightgown with nothing underneath, giving him easy access to you.
he was very particular. he liked things pretty, even during his kills. he would bring his prey back to the castle, groom them, and then when they were perfect, he would ruin them. much like when a beautifully plated dish adds to its flavour.
the others were different — jeonghan preferred his prey to be scared, fear coursing through their veins tasted the best; joshua toyed with his food before he killed them, giving them hope they could escape before dragging them back; mingyu was impatient, devouring them too soon and regretting it after; and wonwoo was calm, until the bloodlust would hit him. his frenzied kills were a complete terror.
it’s midnight now as you stand infront of the door, frozen. you look down at the intricate door handle, running you fingers over the grooves to calm yourself down, and after taking a deep breath, you knock.
‘enter’ seungcheol’s voice makes your heart race. it’s been so long since you’ve heard it. you walk into the dimly lit room, the hue from the candles casting a warm glow over everything. as custom, you kneel in front of the fireplace, waiting with your head lowered. the room where you would meet was gorgeous albeit ostentatious. the ornate double doors opened to an opulently decorated room. to the right was a small longue area in front of a fireplace which was never lit; opposite it was a four-poster bed and adjacent to both was a writing desk, placed directly in front of the huge stained glass windows.
as you wait, you can feel seungcheol’s eyes on you, studying you intently from head to toe. you can hear his nails scrape the wooden desk, continuing to stare like he’s trying to find something wrong with you. but you look perfect. still, seungcheol feels a simmering rage within him.
he’d been furious ever since that day. how could you choose someone else? you were first and foremost, his, and for you to pick wonwoo was an insult he couldn’t allow. he’d thought after all this time he would feel differently, but he doesn’t. it was a mistake calling you here.
‘leave’ he dismisses you coldly but to his surprise, and annoyance, you don’t move. it’s foolish to defy him but you need to do something.
‘don't make me repeat myself’
‘master-’
‘get. out.’
‘master, please, i’m sorry’ you don’t know what else to say. you flinch at the sound of his chair being pushed back savagely. his steps are heavy and heated as he walks over, standing in front of you.
‘look at me’ you look up, meeting his eyes for the first time, feeling your cunt quiver.
‘you’re sorry? what exactly are you sorry for?’ he questions, finding it incredulous that you have the nerve to disobey him.
‘i’m s-sorry if i upset you’ seungcheol scoffs, circling behind you. he paces quietly, back and forth, as the seconds pass in complete silence, and then you feel a searing sting. hot liquid hits your skin, making you cry out in pain. ‘you think you, a human, have the power to upset me?’ his voice is dripping with disdain.
he holds the candle above you, letting the burning wax drip onto your supple skin, watching how it rolls down and hardens on contact.
‘master, t-that hurts’ you stutter. seungcheol didn’t get off on your pain, so why was he making you feel it? he suddenly snakes his hand around your throat, pulling you up ‘exactly. it hurts and you don’t have the power to do anything’
‘you don’t have any power’ he reminds you ‘you’re just a weak, pathetic human’ his grip tightens like a noose, fingers digging dangerously deep into your skin.
you gasp as he squeezes tight before releasing you. ‘so helpless’ he mutters, his heavy breath caressing the bare skin of your shoulder, and all of a sudden he lifts your dress up and bends you over. being this close to you after weeks apart, seungcheol can’t control himself. he unzips his pants, pulling out his throbbing cock, and enters you — your cunt that's already sopping wet for him.
it's embarrassing how easily he slips in, your arousal coating his cock instantly. he laughs ‘i haven't even touched you yet and you're dripping wet? pathetic’ despite his words, he loves it. he needs more.
‘stand up’ he orders, his hand back around your throat as he pulls you closer, your back arching off him. he pushes into you completely, your warm cunt gripping him tight and starts thrusting. seungcheol groans, his gaze suddenly fixated on your elongated neck — your skin is taut and tender — it’s perfect. you feel his fangs graze against your stretched neck before he bites, his sharp teeth puncturing your skin as two lines of blood trickle down your neck. you should be scared, you should. so why does it feel almost erotic?
seungcheol drinks from you, your blood seeping into the cracks of his hungry lips as his thrusts hit deeper, his cock throbbing inside you so rapidly. ‘fuck...i need more’ he breathes, teeth sinking in again. seungcheol has always been able control himself, never letting his bloodlust take over, but you taste so sweet, it takes all his will to pull away. he realises this is his privilege, only his, something no one else would be ever be allowed to do — drink from his prey for pleasure.
though he’s taken from you, it feels like he’s injected something far deeper into your veins. you feel bound to him. his presence is heightened — how good he feels inside you; stretching you open, filling you up. you can’t help but want more.
‘master, can i touch myself? please, you’re making me feel so good’ you beg.
he allows; your fingers on your cunt immediately, stimulating your clit.
‘y-yes’ you whine, needy little sounds spilling out with it ‘yes master…use me’ suddenly, he stops thrusting, keeping his hard cock inside you and asks,
‘who do you want to fuck the most hmmn? whose cock do you crave in your slave cunt?’ seungcheol growls, bringing back the very question that upset him, but this time he excepts the right answer.
‘y-yours master, i want you the most. i love getting fucked by my master’s cock’ he lets out a gruff moan at your words, pulling out and turning you around to face him.
there’s a flicker of uncontrolled lust in his eyes ‘what did you just say?’ you repeat your words to him but seungcheol’s stuck on just the two. my master — him belonging to you and you to him. he grabs you by the throat, squeezing lightly ‘what are you doing to me?’ he mutters, feeling painfully possessive of the idea. but then the memory of you spread open, pushing wonwoo’s cum inside you returns. you gasp as his grip tightens.
‘how did it feel, hmm? pushing wonwoo’s cum inside you? you didn’t look like you wanted to get fucked by me, you looked like a dirty fucking whore’ seungcheol’s eyes go dark. for the first time tonight you’re scared, desperate not to upset him further.
‘tell me’
‘i felt nothing master’ you lie ‘i imagined it was yours. i wanted your cum on my fingers…i only want your cum inside me’ seungcheol inhales sharply, high on your words. ‘take off your dress’ he commands as you pull it off quickly. he unbuttons his shirt, almost ripping it off and in a single breath grabs your waist and lifts you, your legs wrapping around his waist and arms draped around his neck. his cold skin is pressed to your warmth as he carries you across the room, pushing you up against the stained glass windows.
it’s much too intimate a position to be in with you but he doesn’t care; he wants you. he enters you slowly, filling you up with a deep sensual stroke. you whimper, feeling all of him inside you.
‘master..please fuck me’ and he does. seungcheol fucks you passionate, making sure every thrust touches your deepest parts, addicted to the soft mewls spilling out of you. he keeps his eyes locked on yours like he’s searching for something in them. you can see they’ve turned a deep crimson in the moonlight — the dreamy moonlight that’s hitting his pale, almost translucent skin so beautifully, his jet black hair and blood stained lips in striking contrast to it. you’re suddenly taken by his beauty, feeling overwhelmed. so you drop your gaze, unable to keep his.
‘no’ he commands ‘you will look at me while i fuck you’ he picks up the pace, thrusting harder.
‘you’re mine’ he breathes ‘you’re mine before anyone else’s. understood?’
he buries his face in your neck, his lips finding where he’d drank from earlier and starts sucking on that spot hungrily. your taste…he can’t stop craving it. as soon as he gets a little taste his thrusts turn animalistic, eyebrows pulled tight as he pounds into you, balls slapping against your cunt. you gasp, tilting your head back, giving him more access. ‘fuck’ his cock twitches inside you.
seeing you offer your body to him like this was intoxicating. ‘look at me’ he moans, his eyes back on yours. then for the very first time, he kisses you. his kisses are hard and messy, matching his thrusts. he pushes his tongue into your mouth, finding yours as your kisses deepen. you need him now and so you beg,
‘master, bury your seed inside me. p-please, i haven’t felt you in so long’ it’s sick honestly — your desperate words and the immediate effect they have on him. seungcheol’s pushed to the brink of orgasm, and for a split second, he feels himself losing all control. taking your life, draining you of your sweet nectar as he cums inside you would be euphoric beyond belief, but he just can’t bring himself to do it. instead, he says,
‘cum with me’ the words coming out of his mouth are unthinkable.
‘you’re going to cum with me’ it’s an order now, and you let yourself feel the pleasure that’s been building. his lips are back on yours, kissing you with untamed desire. ‘m-master, i’m going to cum’ you whine, clamping around his pulsating cock and feeling it take over you — it’s primal the way this pleasure feels. you press yourself against him and moan ‘master, make me yours’
‘f-fuck’ he curses, fucking you against the window so violently as he cums, shooting his seed inside you while you’re still consumed by your high. seungcheol groans and just keeps going, pushing all his cum deeper and deeper inside as if he’s trying to breed you.
‘thank you master..’ you breathe as his pace slackens, his final thrusts slow. there’s a stillness that sets in as his cock slips out of you, your legs unwrapping around him to find the floor. you’re suddenly aware of how eerily silent the castle is tonight. did anyone else hear? it feels too intimate a moment to share. or that's what you think. seungcheol steps away from you, a sudden coldness coming off him.
‘you may leave’ his words are firm.
the overwhelming high from the sex comes crashing down in an instant and those useless human emotions that wonwoo loves so much take over; you feel humiliated, you feel jilted, you feel used. and then you feel tears start to form, your vision blurring. you can't let him see you like this. you drop your gaze and start to walk away, your steps slow in hopes he’ll stop you. but why would he? only lovers stay the night, slaves are sent their way.
seungcheol watches you get dressed, suppressing the urge to pull you back to him. he can’t be attached to a human, that isn’t how it works. humans are disposable, meant to fuck and feast on. he can’t. you turn around and bow, catching his eye for a second and quickly look away. the door creaks open as he watches you leave. you feel like a mess as the door shuts softly, and behind it, so does he.

What’s Love Got to Do with It
Tumblr media
(oberyn x f!reader)  wc: 4.6k | other fics
note: hey y’all it’s me ya gurl, here to defile another prompt with a silly idea <3 Sooo, from the three brain cells that brought you fuckboy!joel and divorced dad rock dilf!joel 🫡i now humbly present …. Frat bro Oberyn, Aka The Red Viper, aka the Prince of Pong, aka the Slut of Delta Psi (i did steal the frat name from the film Neighbors—in which they do sing a line from Creed in their frat chant, so in some twisted way, they’re kind of all connected right??)
I fear this may have just been funny to me so feel free to skip, but thank you to everyone who tolerates my shenanigans <3.
ANYWAY, The lovely @baronessvonglitter bestowed upon me Oberyn x What’s Love Got to Do with It for fucktober (happy belated bday babe) but naturally, i made it weird. Thanks to @sunshinehaze1 for reminding me that modern AUs exist when I got scared of the GOT universe and to @auterdelabre for reminding me that the answer is always fuckboy. Don’t blame them for anything else.
Summary: You attend a fraternity toga party, and you catch the eye of Delta Psi’s notorious Red Viper. He shows you how he got the nickname and then he shows you something else he’s known for.
tags/warnings: explicit 18+ smut, alcohol/partying, gratuitous flirting, piv, fuckboy behavior aka on to the next one, infidelity, i couldn’t bring myself to write his dialogue in frat bro™ –aka i didn’t fully commit to the bit bc that man just had to be smooth and had to fuck no matter what universe i put him in, apologies if that ruins your immersion in my pwp, per usual: no y/n, f!reader is able bodied otherwise no specifics, unprotected piv as if it’s no biggie because it’s fiction (don’t do that irl), no beta/limited proofreading sorry for all mistakes
Tumblr media
“Oh my god, that’s him!” Your best friend shouts into your ear as you walk down the sidewalk. You blend into the sea of toga-clad college kids, sandals slapping against the pavement. Liv leans on you, pointing out the guy she’s talking about. You can hear the music pouring out into the street and people inside yelling and chanting over someone doing a keg stand or something equally as exciting and alcohol-related, you assume.
The guy she pointed out is leaning casually against the banister, letting some ripped blond dude entertain him on the porch. “That’s the guy your roommate was talking about?” you question your friend. Liv agrees with a smile as you walk towards the front steps.
Everyone else on the porch looks like a frat bro wrapped in a wrinkly bedsheet, but for some reason, he seems almost godlike. He’s luminous under the warm lights. As if he knew you were checking him out, he turns his head just as you walk past, and his eyes sweep over you, making your face hot. Something sparks between you before he turns away, taking a swig of his drink.
Liv had given you a rundown on what to expect at your first Delta Psi party. You had argued that you knew what college parties were like. You transferred this quarter as a senior, and you just didn’t have Greek life at your other school or your best friend to convince you to go out. But now, you’re here, dressed up and entering a party that really does feel a little more intense than the ones back at your small-town university.
Liv’s roommate had given you the rundown on the guys she knew in the fraternity, but you didn’t pay much attention to her descriptions. You figured there was no way a Brad, Dylan, Connor, or a Brent would actually be hot. And then, when she started with the ones with nicknames, you completely checked out after Viper and Rooster. It has to defy the laws of nature for a frat bro that goes by Rooster to be able to find your clit—even if he IS hot.
Yet, now you realize you might be eating your words because you get it. You were too quick to judge, whoops. “Which one was that?” you ask in Liv’s ear as you both make your way through the people sloshing drinks and dancing.
“Viper!”
You can’t help the immediate grimace that emerges on your face. “That’s so douchey!” you shout back over the noise before she pulls you down a hall toward that kitchen. She leans in close to your ear, telling you that her roommate swears she got the best head of her life from him. “No fucking way,” you argue.
“Way,” she smirks back. “He’s got a girlfriend now, though. They’re, like, totally in love, it’s all over social media.” She mocks puking at the idea, and you share a laugh.
You explore the party together. The house is huge; one room on the main floor is blasting EDM, and another is blasting top 40 hits. There are a couple of beer pong tables in the backyard and a detached garage filled with stoners on old couches giggling to themselves. You know that Liv is itching to park her ass on one of those sofas and find a girl or guy to whom she can woo with her French inhale and makeout with for the rest of the night.
But, she’s a loyal ass bitch who wouldn’t abandon you. You circle back through the house. You spend a little while dancing together and taking your time to see if there’s anyone else who catches your eye. Nobody really sticks out to you in the first room until you catch his eyes again. You have to do a double-take as you circle your waist and roll your body against Liv.
He’s semi-shrouded in the corner; with the dim lighting and the packed house, it would be easy to miss the two of them altogether. But when the girl clinging to him turns around to grind her ass against him, he locks eyes with you, and you swear that fucker winks at you before a group of girls prance into the room, shouting oh my god, it’s our song! You try to shake it off. You were definitely just seeing things with the lights.
You signal to Liv, and she follows you into the other room. You dance together a bit longer. She offers you a swig from her rhinestone-encrusted flask, but you turn her down, staying sober tonight. You feel euphoric enough with the strobe lights and the thrumming bass from the EDM remixes blasting in the room.
You turn down a few wasted white dudes who try to dance up on the two of you. Too drunk. Not your type. Too handsy. You’re not afraid to punch a man in the throat or the nuts if they don’t get the hint, but they back off when you give them a gentle shove and a shake of your head. The most recent suitor is turning and scoping for another girl to approach when you see him again.
He’s moving towards you, looking right at you, but there’s no girl on his arm–or crotch, now. For some reason, it makes you feel too hot. You’re sweating from the dancing anyway, so you ignore the electric look in his eye that makes your clit twitch and grab Liv’s arm to make a dash for the backyard to get some fresh air.
You debrief with each other and come to an agreement. You tell Liv to do her thing, urging her to head towards the couch with the skater dude wearing the toga made from a dinosaur patterned sheet and the high-top vans. She agrees to text you if she plans to relocate or wants to leave before you finish taking another lap around the party.
You sort of lie to her, claiming someone inside caught your eye. They did, but you aren’t planning to do anything about it. Instead, you part ways and head back through the house, past the pledge posing as a bouncer at the front door, and onto the front porch. The music is still loud, but it’s quieter out front. People still trickle in and out of the party. You stare out at the night sky, searching for the moon. In your own little world, you’re basking in your own peace.
“I haven’t seen you here before,” a rich, velvety voice washes over your shoulder. It should make you jerk away, give you goosebumps, and raise your hackles. But, instead, the interruption stirs liquid heat in your core and makes your nipples hard. Because it’s him.
You turn your head and confirm. He’s so close to you.
“You know every girl here?” you challenge him.
“I know the ladies and gentlemen that pique my curiosity,” his voice is so smooth. He’s a charmer, for sure. He offers you a drink, holding out two plastic cups in one hand. The size of his hand does make you tingly, but his smile falters when you shoot him one of your signature dirty looks.
Before he can ask about the look, you take one of the cups, give him a cloyingly sweet smile, and pour it out over the railing into the grass below. The tail of his brow quirks, and he gives you a sly smile that widens into a grin and a full-chested laugh. “Oops,” you mock.
“You’re a bold woman,” he muses, “I like that.”
He doesn’t back down after you toss out his drink. He doesn’t take it as a rejection. He understands when you explain you don’t take open drinks from strangers at a frat party, but you roll your eyes hard when he gloats about not needing tricks or drugs to find a lover.
He banters with you as he downs the remaining drink. He’s quick, with sharp wit and a devious smile. You can’t keep your eyes off his exposed chest, his arms, his neck, his eyes. It’s still confusing how he can look so regal, whereas everyone else in the party looks a little…goofy? Cliche? He pulls you back to the present, asking for your name before he gives you his.
“They call me ‘the Red Viper,’” he gives you a provocative grin like he knows exactly how hot he looks, even with a bedsheet draped over his shoulder.
You play into his hand, “Is that some kinda of euphemism?” Feeding his ego with a suggestive arch of your brow. Maybe you’re bold, but you don’t think he’s the type to be deterred by a confident woman. In fact, it seems to make him glow even brighter.
His voice lowers, dripping with an enticing challenge, “Are you looking to find out?” he asks.
His jaw quirks, and you’re mesmerized watching him suck at his lower lip. It looks so perfectly plump and kissable, curling into a smirk as his eyes gleam with mischief. “Come,” he beckons for you to follow him deeper into the party.
“I thought you had a girlfriend,” you say stiffly, remembering what Liv had said as you walked in. He looks at you curiously before shaking his head lightly.
“You mean Cora? From earlier? She’s not my girlfriend. We were just dancing.”
“No,” you shake your head, “I heard it’s all over social media. That you’re loved up.”
“Oh, so you’ve heard of me?” he gives you that cocky smile that absolutely shouldn’t work but somehow makes you feel warm like you’re laying on the warm sand on a beach listening to the waves crashing. You don’t say anything else, and he leans in a little closer, “What’s love got to do with it?” he asks huskily. Dangerously.
It makes you shudder with something warm and twisted.
“Now,” he guides you gently but firmly, “Come.” You need him to stop saying it like an order before you do.
You let him walk you through the party. Weaving through the boisterous crowds. They part easily for him, clearing a path like he’s royalty.
“They call me ‘the Red Viper’ because I’m lethal at any game involving a red Solo cup.” He murmurs it into your ear like it’s a sexy secret.
You laugh brightly at that, giving him a gentle shove. “That’s the lamest thing I’ve ever heard!”
He gives you a coy shrug. “It’s the truth.” He leads you into the backyard, towards the beer pong tables. “I’ll show you,” he says just for you to hear. The string lights illuminate the yard in soft light; however, the mood is anything but romantic, with the drunk cheering college kids taking their drinking games very seriously.
You watch, amused, as one team high-fives each other over their trick shot. At another table, both teams heatedly argue about “house rules.”
“It’s the prince of pong!” one of his fraternity brothers shouts across the lawn. He gives you the most dramatic I told you so glance, and you mouth “lame” back at him. He calls ‘next game,’ and as if he were their lord, one table immediately clears out, forfeiting in a demonstration of fealty.
“Ladies first,” he offers once he’s set up all the cups to his liking. He’s so arrogant about it, and it shouldn’t turn you on, but it absolutely does.
You grin across the table at him. “You’re on.”
He’s merciful at first. You land a few cups, giving you enough confidence to talk shit and tease him. But it rapidly becomes apparent that he’s a man of his word as he easily picks off every cup on your end of the table with precision.
Despite your rapid descent towards a loss, you eat up his charm. His magnetic energy. He makes the rest of the party disappear when he looks at you. It makes your heart tingle and your pussy flutter. He’s a gracious winner, only gloating a little as he reracks the table and offers it up to other party-goers.
“Alright, Viper, you won. You can retain your title.” You admit defeat as he slinks up close to you, ushering you along to the side of the house, only a few steps away but more secluded from the rest of the party.
“And now, will you allow me to claim my prize?” he asks in his smoky, deep voice.
Despite his clear intentions, you feign confusion as he wraps one wide hand around your waist and tilts your chin towards his face with the other. “I didn’t know we were playing for stakes,” you smile brashly. Your skin blazes under his touch and his seductive gaze as his eyes drop to your mouth.
He starts to dip towards you, but you swerve away from him. It’s on the tip of your tongue to ask again if he’s in a relationship. He growls softly, almost a purr, next to your ear. “What’s wrong, my lady?” he murmurs. The intimacy of it is heady, and your surroundings fade.
You want to take whatever he’s offering, no questions, so instead you whisper, “Tell me your real name.”
He sighs softly before giving in and telling you his name.
“Oberyn,” you repeat back, “that’s unique.”
He starts muttering about how he’s an international student, but you’ve got all the info you needed. Now you don’t have to add a guy named Viper to your mental list of hookups.
“I like it,” you cut him off before slotting your mouth against his and making up for ducking out of his last attempt at a kiss with your eagerness. He wraps his arm around you, and you’re transported. One large hand presses against your lower back, urging your hips toward his, and the other cradles your jaw, giving you a sense of stability as he matches your ferocity.
You briefly wonder if you’d have melted if he wasn’t holding you so tightly before your thoughts are consumed by the sensation of his lips against yours and his tongue running along yours. It’s not a kiss you would’ve expected from a frat guy. It’s romantic and passionate, and you feel your body rolling against his, caught up in the sensation and intensity.
You keep going, letting yourself enjoy the moment, eating up the flavor of him, the scent of him, and the throbbing intensifying between your legs. You slip one of your hands along the back of his neck into his soft hair, and he groans into your mouth. It makes your knees weak.
You chase his mouth as he pulls back and looks into your heavy-lidded eyes. Sharing the hot air between you, it feels like a current is looping through your bodies, buzzing with need.
“Let’s go upstairs,” he urges in a gravelly whisper. You can feel him hardening against you. His hand on your back is firm, keeping you flush, pelvis to pelvis, making you nearly dizzy. However, his hand on your jaw is gentle, brushing his thumb along your cheek sweetly. You still can’t help goading just a little.
“What for?” you ask playfully.
“To fuck.”
It makes your cheeks hot. Maybe there should be red flags popping up in your mind, but you don’t care. He likes a bold woman, and you like a direct man.
“Unless you’d rather do it in the grass here,” he tilts his head toward the ground. You act like you’re considering the option seriously, making him laugh before he releases you from his arms. “Don’t tease,” he says with a severe look, “It wouldn’t bother me.”
Me either, you consider before deciding not to say that part aloud. You tell him to take you to a real bed, and he does. Swiftly guiding you into the house and up the stairs, past the pledge guarding the rooms, and into his bedroom. He spins around, pinning you against the door for another searing kiss. It’s more urgent this time. He’s quickly moving to your neck, trailing open-mouthed kisses down your tender skin as you both greedily run your hands along each other’s bodies.
Before you can get your hands under his toga, he’s detaching from you and sinking to his knees. He moves efficiently, bunching up your toga and asking you to hold it. Then he’s hovering his hot mouth over your mound before kissing you over your lacey panties.
“Mmm,” he hums into you and traces the crease of your thighs with one hand, following the line until he’s softly running his fingers along the edge of your panties, the tips of his fingers barely dipping beneath the hem as he moves towards your core. You watch, staring down with your mouth parted as he holds your gaze.
He teases you, running his fingertips along your seam over the soaked fabric, tapping and teasing at your swollen clit through the fabric as he watches your needy expression morph into frustration. You shift, spreading your legs wider, but he stops you with a large hand on each thigh.
“Hold still,” he orders, and you feel compelled to listen. He pulls your underwear down and off of you, then hooks one of your legs over his shoulder, spreading your cunt open. “That’s better.”
You can’t tell if he’s talking to himself or to you. You don’t have a chance to ask before he’s burying his face into your soft, wet pussy. Your breath hitches at the sensation and one of your hands flies out to grab at the door frame to steady you, while the other one digs into Oberyn’s hair.
He’s unbothered by your dramatics. Oberyn moves with enthusiasm, drawing his tongue along your slit and pressing into your sex with his jaw. His facial hair tickles at your tender skin deliciously and his nose grazes over your clit as if his face were molded to maximize your pleasure. He changes his strategy, mouthing at your clit and sweeping his tongue over it like he’s making out with it, with the same passion that he kissed you with outside and a moment ago.
You can feel it starting to build. Your hip flexors straining and thighs starting to tremble as your breathing gets quicker and more shallow. Closer and closer and closer. He’s perceptive and diligent. Repeating the same tricks that make you moan and dig your fingers into his hair.
You’re stuck on the precipice, so close but not quite there. Your eyes roam around the dimly lit room, the bed, the bookshelf, the tapestry pinned to the wall, the collection of cologne bottles lined up on the desk, the mirror on top of the desk–pointing right at the bed.
It starts to frustrate you. Not the decor choices, but the tension and the building pressure. You squirm slightly, hoping the smallest adjustment will somehow bring everything into a sharper focus. You let your eyes close, letting the roar of the party downstairs fade, focusing on the pressure and warmth of Oberyn’s mouth.
It’s all you can think as Oberyn stays dedicated to getting you off on his tongue. He sucks firmly at your clit before releasing you with a slick sound. He hovers, mouth fanning warm air over your core looking up at you. His eyes are lit with hunger.
“More?” he asks in his deep, rich voice.
You can’t tell if you were chanting out loud or if he’s somehow reading your mind. “Please,” you respond with a needy edge, “more.” You catch the sparkle in his eye and the flash of a grin. He works you up again, towards the brink, relishing in your responses as you whine with need as he resumes holding you in a purgatory of pleasure.
Mercifully, he does give you more. Oberyn grips your thigh with one hand, steadying you, while he swipes two fingers along the length of your pussy once, twice, coating them in your arousal before plunging them inside of you. The increased pressure and friction from his fingers pumping into you causes you to moan. It’s a lower register than your breathy panting from earlier, layered with satisfaction as you can feel the anticipation starting to crest.
“Don’t stop,” you beg, “I’m so close.”
He doesn’t stop, groaning at your words, rumbling against you. That snaps the tension and you cry out his name and a string of curses as your orgasm hits. He doesn’t slow down when your cunt contracts around his fingers and he doesn’t lose focus when you shake and writhe against mouth. Not until you’re pulling him off of you, oversensitive and wrung out.
Oberyn stands, wiping at his chin before pulling you in close for another breathtaking kiss. He walks you back toward the bed and you fall into it, pulling him with you. You tangle together, frantically, you want him inside of you now. He laughs softly against your hot neck, sensing your frustration.
“Shh,” he murmurs as you huff with defeat. He moves deftly, braced over you with one arm, and freeing his cock with the other. Your hands stroke up and down his shoulders and back, and you hook one leg around his hip, encouraging him. “You want me to fuck you now?” he asks and you whisper a yes that turns into a gasp as he runs his tip through your soaked center. “And how do you want it?”
“Hard.”
“Yeah,” he agrees, sinking into you deeper and deeper, and pulling back, all the way out, then all the way in. “Fuck,” he says to himself as he sets a quick pace, slaming his hips into yours making the bedframe creak with every thrust. If the noise from the party didn’t drown everything else out, you might be embarrassed to have strangers over hear, but you would be surprised if anyone could hear a thing. And, even if you were louder than the party, you could care less about being caught as Oberyn fucks you into the mattress.
“Harder,” you goad him, hoping for more. To your horror he pulls out of you completely, but you swiftly find yourself flipped onto your stomach as he lifts your hips and enters you from behind. You press back, meeting his thrusts, bouncing off of his hips until he presses his palm between your shoulder blades. He forces your chest into the mattress, holding you still so he can fuck you like he means it, with enough force that all you can do brace yourself and ball your fists, twisting the bedding between your fingers.
With your cheek against the bed you can watch your reflection in the mirror. It’s hot, even with your togas draped and bunched up, you look good together. It makes you grin. He catches you looking and turns, meeting your eyes in the mirror before watching your bodies. He grips your hips firmly and you can barely keep your eyes open to watch as he continues.
He overwhelms you with his stamina, keeping up a pace that has your mind feeling blissfully fuzzy. He says something else before folding over you and slipping his hand around towards your clit, determined to feel you come around his cock. You’re so close already, it’s only a moment, a few more thrusts, before shuddering beneath him. He tries to fuck you through it, but you clench and constrict around him so tightly that he pulls out while you’re still moaning.
You can hear the slick wet sounds as he strokes himself, cursing under his breath again, before you feel the warmth as he comes across the swell of your ass and your fluttering cunt. You sink, dropping your hips and relaxing onto the bed while he catches his breath. Oberyn squeezes at your thighs, offering praise you don’t quite hear, then he’s slipping off the bed. He cleans you up with a towel, but you remain still for a little longer, enjoying the satisfaction and the sweet ache from the intensity.
“Take your time,” he tells you, leaning down to press a kiss to your shoulder. It’s gentle. You murmur a thanks at him before breaking into an airy giggle. It makes your ribcage shake, bouncing slightly on the mattress, realizing that Liv is going to die when you tell her you can confirm her roommates story. Oberyn doesn’t question your reaction.
He pauses to readjust his toga and his hair in the mirror. Once seemingly satisfied, he turns back towards you, watching you sit up. “I’ll see you out there,” he says with a smile before he slips out of the room.
You linger for just a little. Allowing yourself the privacy to revel in the sweet satisfaction of the post-sex chemicals flowing through your body. You let yourself grin while you check your phone to see where Liv is at.
You take another minute, using the mirror to fix your own appearance, aiming for a slightly less obvious version of I just got railed, before meeting your own eyes. For a sobering second you remember you didn’t get a real answer about if he has a girlfriend. He sure as fuck doesn’t act like it, you decide. You shake off the thought.
He might be a frat bro, he might be a piece of shit, all you know for sure is that he is hot, a good kisser, and he knew how to make you come. Three things you didn’t think you’d find in one guy under this roof. You give yourself a final onceover before heading out of the room and down the stairs.
You don’t see Oberyn in the first few rooms you pass. You keep looking; he couldn’t have gone far. You’re barely finished that thought when you spot him in the kitchen. The sight makes you stumble, shooting a hand out to the wall to catch your balance.
He’s leaning casually, with his hip against the counter, as a starry-eyed girl looks up at him, giggling flirtatiously, as she lays a hand along his bicep.
It’s in slow motion. The way he looks at her hand, the way his eyes trail along her arm, over the curve of her breasts, and down her legs before flitting back to her face with that same sinful smirk you just fell for.
Your shoulders drop. It’s not like you were planning your wedding or that you even thought a date was on the table—but you didn’t think he’d be on to the next girl before you made it down the stairs.
You start to recenter yourself, reaching to check your phone again before you look for Liv.
He sees you before you can mind your business and plan your next move. Catching your eye through the doorway. Before you can formulate a reaction, you’re stuck, held in his gaze. He winks at you again, only this time there’s no question if you were making it up. He winked at you and despite everything, it makes your whole body tingle.
“I saw that!” Liv shouts into your ear, wrapping an arm around you. “You have to tell me what the fuck that was about. But first can we please get pancakes or cheese fries?”
You don’t bother turning back for a second glance as you follow Liv toward the front door.

You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that
Oh, oh, oh
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
