ok so like i know the reason is just. sexism but one thing that really irks me about how the post-timeskip naruto manga handled which characters became medic nin bc it makes absolutely no sense to me

sakura's decision to train under tsunade makes sense, and i love that she got a super strength power up, so no notes there, but the other teams.... yeesh

so first off, team ten. we're told that ino decided to follow sakura into mednin land to keep being rivals with her... despite that at no point factoring into their rivalry at all beforehand. ino never showed any interest in that, nor was the yamanaka clan ever mentioned to have anything to do with healing as far as i can remember. it's like going to art school to stay with your bestie when your goal is to become a dentist. why are you there. find other ways to spend time together. it also kinda goes against her family's whole thing as. the guys who do the torture stuff. and it's barely ever relevant anyway

for team ten, i think the team medic should've been shikamaru, and i think this not just bc i think it makes more sense skill-wise (something about the way the nara clan's various shadow jutsu work just screams "you need good chakra control for this" to me), but also bc i think it would make asuma's death a thousand times more painful. bc shikamaru is a slacker. he's not learning medical ninjutsu bc he wants to, he's learning it bc someone on the team has to in order to stick together. they're all chuunin now; one of them has to be a medic. them's the rules. but he doesn't really care that much, even when he is trying to learn, and he's so used to being smart enough to not have to pay attention in lessons anyway that he's not prepared for classes that require his full focus. and then asuma dies and shikamaru is doomed to spend the rest of his fucking life wondering if he could've saved him by paying just a little more attention to those medical ninjutsu lessons (he could not have (but he'll never know for sure))

team eight makes some sense, since giving the girl who struggles with fighting the healing job isn't exactly out of nowhere, but i do feel it was the lazy choice. kiba already had a sister involved in the medical business, even if she deals more with animals, so he could've started learning from her and found that he liked it. plus kiba's goal is to be hokage, and the current hokage is a mednin, so it's not like it wouldn't support his goal. or shino could do it; would add another layer to his character. hinata works fine but. it's just not a very interesting development imo

but what really gets me is team gai. good freaking grief. out of every single team, team gai was the one with the most obvious choice. bc there was only one choice. lee can't do any kind of ninjutsu, and tenten's only real backstory is that her chakra control isn't good enough for her to be a medic nin. so it had to be neji. canon establishes that every team has to have a medic; this is a policy tsunade got passed even before she became hokage, so no way in hell is she going back on it now.

moreover, neji becoming a medical ninja - especially if hiashi encouraged it - would show some development for the hyuuga clan maybe starting to suck a bit less. bc as a medic, neji would be bound by oath to stay alive for as long as possible. imagine a world in which hizashi came back and hiashi was able to tell his brother that not only was their family starting to change, but his son had chosen a path that would prevent him from ever following in his father's footsteps. it would be the first step (of many) to show that the hyuuga clan was freeing itself from its own bullshit.

also it would've made sakura catching the zetsu pretending to be neji a thousand times funnier. like that's her coworker. they've shared shifts at the hospital together. she's seen neji drink vodka straight from a bottle and then crash on her couch after they got out of a twelve-hour surgery on the fucking dumbass chuunin who managed to step on his own boobytrap. she knows him.

maybe its the aro, but i also genuinely think its not only aros that yearn to have a significant relationship with a "best friend" that goes into the "gray area of romance"

i think the only thing i truly dislike overall from romo-shipping culture (other than omegaverse existing. rage. hatred.) is that it kinda devours people just being besties or just being so signifcant to each other in a non-romantic way. but then everyone's turning to hyping up "familial" relationships made it even worse. cuz now it's like oh they're non-romantic? oohhh they must be siblings...or parent/child...

like no what if people were just friends and that was also seen as significant. or enemies. or foils. or even coworkers. and all of that be seen as significant for what it is

i feel like this is especially true in fandoms into real life ppl/celebrities/influencers/etc. i feel like that's where it actually starts to become a big frustrating problem

fiction is something else because you can simply change the rules if you want, in your head, with headcanons, but you cant (or at least you really shouldnt and im judging you if you do) headcanon real people. if they say otherwise about this, or shipping, or whatever then ok thats their prerogative, BUT then ppl take one guy (gnc) saying this to mean they have permission for every guy (gnc) and it's like ok idc if people have been doing this with real living persons for centuries, we've been doing all kindsa other jacked up shit to each other for millennia am i supposed to suddenly be okay with that too because it's always been done? 😭 idk i dont mean for this to be all about how i dont support RPF and how parasocializing and celebrity worship has fucked over everyone's brains and warped them into dehumanizing people as normal even more than all of us being so online in general has and finding every buzzword that sounds like justification they can to okay it

but it is kinda linked to my point. i dont mean this in the whole "men are scared to be best friends for fear of being seen as Gay" i mean it as "a whole shitload of people are redirecting deep non-romantic relationships into just feeding the alloromantic normativity machine and my little aro ass is getting kinda tired of it"

i mean it in "everyone keeps trying to put relationships into neat little labeled boxes that have these hard and rigid rules to them and my loves-to-appreciate-the-depth-and-variety-of-human-emotions-and-relationships" ass is even more tired of this than the other thing

even in MY shipping. yes i say "shipping" yes i draw charas kissing, hugging, dating, intimacy. but i dont always mean romantically. because i remember the era when shipping could be whatever. it just meant you liked that those characters were significant to each other. and now it's become only one kinda thing (maybe two if youre differentiating between sexual and romantic shipping or a mix of the two)

and now i wish there was a word just for what i mean 😓 (and other ppl like me) that was just...yes i like these two (or more) charas together and idc what flavor of what it is theyre doing i enjoy it. and i wish that it could also not be seen as meaning less or just being lesser than romantic shipping

OKAY SO! I'm gonna give you a brief overview of the book in case you didn't see what it's about, then I'll do some fun facts because I deserve it as a treat and I'm hyperfixating on my own book series right now (and also Valiant. Minor detail. LET'S MOVE ON)

The main plot: My girl Rebecca Wood lives on Earth, but never knew her parents. She discovers at the beginning of the book that she, and the family she never knew, is from the fairy tale world, and so she goes there with the help of this socially awkward cinnamon roll, Liam. We love Liam, and we feel bad about the amount of Horrors I put him through, including but not limited to social interactions and torture

The rest of the book is basically Rebecca and Liam's travels through Avena (fairy tale world) meeting fairy tale characters and evading the evil Empress Goldilocks (who has magic plants and fairy tale princesses for assassins). And there are more books. Or there will be. Four overall in the main series, two prequels, umm... *pauses to count* okay yeah there are a lot of stories post canon. And I've already written a handful of short stories for fun and profit!

And now it's fun facts about some of the characters time:

Cinderella is, as mentioned, an assassin! She has fabulous fashion taste, glass shoes that can morph into any shoe type she wants, and is incredibly sadistic. Her husband Gavin is what would happen if Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, Schimdt from New Girl, and Oscar from The Rookie were fused into one incredibly vain, lazy person who wore a lot of capes

Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk is a pirate (occasionally of the sky). He's married to a future seer who basically tricked him into taking her hostage the first time they met, and has two kids. They are utter gremlins and we love them

Alec and Risha, who I've been talking about lately, are from Camelot. Risha's dad is Sir Gareth, aka Gawain's cool brother. In my series, the people of Camelot have Australian accents because why not?

OH MY GOSH I JUST THOUGHT OF A CHARACTER I HAVEN'T TALKED ABOUT ON HERE okay his name is Bob. It's short for uhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm gonna be straight with y'all I don't remember his full name. It's really long. But he's the Magic Mirror from Snow White! He's a cursed prince who likes shipping his best friend with her love interest, and boba tea (if it exists in this universe. I shall ponder this) and he's just a little chaos gremlin and I would die for him

Somehow, every single ship in this series is enemies to lovers (except Alec and Risha, slow burn friends to idiots in love my beloved) and it's really funny to me. They're all different flavors of enemies to lovers, too. We've got "coworkers who annoy the crap out of each other to lovers", "I tried to kill your friends that one time and am involved in the organization that killed your brother but now we're working together and technically I'm engaged but it's a engagement of convenience and we're connecting to lovers", and one of my personal favorites, "you forced me to take you hostage that one time and now I'm stuck with you which is really annoying to lovers". One more fun fact for the road: I have a book planned that's set after the series, and it's a combination of no less than three fairy tales at once. Possibly more, for all I know

Oh, and actually last of all! The first book in the series, which I shall not reveal the title of just yet because DRAMA, is finished! All polished up and shiny, and I'm currently looking into publishing options and cover artists! (also my girl a.spice is doing illustrations I can't wait for you guys to see them they're incredible)

Begins to pamper her and take her out more, in hopes of winning her affections and getting closer to her! He has so much love to share, and she's the perfect vessel!! Nagisa: Circle buddies! Autism and ADHD/AuDHD creatures, respectively. Both very curious about everything, and became friends because. well, she's friends w practically everyone in Eden. She finds him really pretty and interesting, and he finds her very... cute, like a cat. They hang out when they can :D Madara: First person she meets in ES! Family trauma (poor relationship w mom) builds into the sweetest little found family duo you've ever seen. Helps her find her strengths as an idol and put her feet on the ground. Souma: Kitchen circle buddies! Friendliest with him out of all of AKATSUKI. Wataru: Just a couple of sillies. Idk I just like the thought of them interacting a lot. Bro, I get defending your ship and "debating" about who you believe is the real couple but literally why is Jimin & Jk's bond always accused of being fake. I'm tired of this fanservice term. Can people not believe Jimin & Jk are with other members without thinking they play shit up for the camera? Is this really what the fandom has come to?

Unfortunately anon, it is what the fandom has come to. They do it for reasons only they know of. But the obvious thing here is- this is Jimin and Jungkook we're talking about. And that on it's own is enough for them to be crucified.

It has become a norm to hate on anyone who is a part of BTS, or related to BTS in any way...wether as a fan or a coworker, or a family member. So it doesn't help that Jikook, of the famous BTS, and the two biggest soloists of the group are close. Anyone would hate them, and sometimes it be your own people! As much as Armys like to say you aren't an Army if you hate any of the members, but it's true. Sometimes it be the same Armys hating on these two.

I don't know about you Anon, but from what I've seen since I joined the fandom, jikook's biggest haters aren't the kpoppies, or locals.. whatever people prefer to call them.

6.It's the hyung line stans. I think you would know why I'm even saying this. For some reason, the hyungs don't have as much support as the maknaes, and who gets affected at the end of the day? Jikook. Why? Coz they're Jimin, and Jungkook. “ That is how they keep themselves relevant, atleast my fave doesn't have to resolve to fan service to sell, unlike Pigmin and Payolakook 🤢”

5. VMINers... These two are the soulmates of BTS,as we know. And Jungkook, “ separated” them. He “ played” besties. And this came directly from a girl on TikTok, legit..💀

4. KTHs... These are the V lovers. As the most followed on IG, I observed that a lot of people expected him to be the biggest soloist. And also because of his acting career, his model like figure- I mean he's perfect in all ways. And it is a lot of the subgroup that never ever expected Jimin to thrive alone. As time went on, they threw tantrums that V was being mistreated by Armys, BTS and HYBE. And we all know who got the most hate; Jungkook. The one man who was supposed to take care of V,his boyfriend! Did you know, that 99.9 % of taekookers are V biases? Now we all know 😀 and he's blamed for not supporting Taehyung, for not rebelling against HYBE that treated V unfairly.

3. JJKs...these are well known Y/Ns of the fandom; Jungkook stans. Mostly where the homophobia comes from, within the fandom. If I'm not wrong, there's a famous Wattpad story called motorsport..? And the biggest JK story ...I forgot what they call it. Oh yeah, mutual help!! And this is not a hate for the authors in any way. The JJKs love this type of thing, they j*rk of to these things. They write “ Jungkook's the type of boyfriend to-” . And what happens when they see Jimin jumping on JK's back and inhaling him?? “Jungkook is straight, Jimin is just an attention seeker, he loves queerbaiting so bad!” And if you haven't yet noticed, most JJKs love Jungkook as a soloist. They don't give a sh*t about any other member. BTS would be nothing without Jungkook, and the JK validation goes crazy, so Jimin is using him. Jimin is fake, and whatever he does with JK is only to help himself. Poor Jungkook...

2. I don't even know what to call these ones. But there's a certain subgroup within this fandom that believes it is jungkook's duty to end all the delusions in this fandom. They're the gossipers of the fandom. The drama lovers. They think BTS is Hollywood in some way. If Jimin laughs with Jimin today, they run to shipper accounts to find out what their opinion is. Tomorrow he laughs with Jin, they go to the senseless shippers accounts to hear the tea. They get confused in between, feel bad for the poor members whom apparently jungkook's switches like his underwear. They want Jungkook to have a stand. Now they ask themselves, and irritate others on the media,“ why doesn't Jungkook hug V when he knew Jimin was watching?? Why didn't he laugh at Jhope's joke? Why doesn't he just be decisive and love one member?” All because they decided to entertain the shipping drama...Now Jungkook is the enemy

1. I know a lot of people would disagree with this one. I mean no one wants their faves to be treated unfairly, and there is a softness towards one's own bias. But this is a truth that people deny still, to this day. No one gets hate like Jungkook in this fandom. Not outside, WITHIN the fandom... Yes, the hyung line is overlooked, Jimin is hated by KTHs, and V too is hated. But when one person out there finally decides to talk about Jungkook and the hate he's getting, it's all “ it happens to other members too” . It's suddenly, “ he's famous, he should have known” when sasaengs invade his privacy. “ Jungkook shouldn't get anything this time, let's vote for RM, JK will be happy that his hyung won!”

I absolutely agree that all members get hate, and this isn't a competition where one member's pain should be compared with another. But you also know what's not fair? Refusing to acknowledge that Jungkook is at the centre of almost everything here, centre of the BTS ships, centre of his own group, and the maknae. People refuse to just take their eyes off their bias just once, and see that Jungkook is getting hate from all sides of the fandom. He's always the one to throw under the bus, the one who will be “okay” at the end of the day. And I know it's taking forever to say this one thing, but people have resentment towards Jungkook in this fandom, and some don't even know it. It only took one album for people to expose themselves. And no one hates Jungkook in this fandom like a PJM!

“Look at how Jimin invested in his album, nothing was handed to him. He even sang in Korean, and got to the top! He worked so hard. Why should he be no.2 ? Especially to that Jungkook whom the entire fandom got his back, and scooter also? His songs weren't even all that!”

And in case no one here knows, Jikookers are 99.9% PJMs 😹😹. People can say whatever they want, but PJMs be acting like they graduated from Harvard. Like they're the ones who birthed Jimin. Just like KTHs and VMINers, they think their biases are suffering while everyone's got jungkook's back. They don't see that they have Jungkook as a servant who has to kiss the ground Jimin walks on, kiss his feet, compliment him, just be whipped for him. They see themselves as Jimin Park's twin flame. I don't even have to say anything more...just go and see what people are saying about Are You Sure , and recently if you're a Twitter person, a Jikookers GC was exposed... Go and see what all they say about JK (and V)💀💀

Anyways anon, I don't know if you'll agree with me, but I just pointed out what I see everyday. Not everyone in these subgroups is like that, but majority here is overshadowing the good ones🤷. And these are the people who degrade the relationship that Jimin and Jungkook have. They cannot deny that they're an energy, a force, and they're tight like this 🤞. So what will they say?? Fan service. They cannot unsee the cuddles in AYS, so they'll say it's scripted. They cannot comprehend that Jungkook and Jimin are men, and they play rough, so they'll call Jungkook abusive for the same thing their fragile Mimi just did to Jungkook a few minutes ago.

I mean you can't say you don't know what happens when two famous people, with an insane chemistry, and a large following are also close, can you? 🤷 And coming to your real ask..( I'm so sorry for straying 😭)... There are people who genuinely believe Jikook are dating other members, and they'll do anything to prove it, even if it means calling jikook a script. And some of these Yoonmin shippers are taekookers who want to keep their accessory Jungkook. Some are PJMs who hate Jungkook coz KTHs hate Jimin.

With romance, definitely a friends to lovers situation. I could see them being adorable but also kind of dancing around their feelings because of inexperience which leads to a bit of awkwardness.

Finally under antagonistic what I marked would be for I guess a very specific plot point; maybe disagreements on how things are handled or if for some reason the situation with Cyrian was different.

• has a little pouch of stickers that they just pop open and use to decorate things

• sometimes will just stare and tilt their head when someone is talking to them because they're interested but is usually seen as threatening :(

• moments of clarity while blackout drunk that's just,,, philosophical and aimed to hit deep at people that then ends with him promptly passing out

• invites nessie for team dinners sometimes and has to be the one keeping her from killing soldier once he mentions scotland

medic:

• talks to the corpses he keeps in his miniature morgue. uses them as therapy dolls. sometimes puppets them to have them respond

• views archimedes as worth more than scout

• has swindled a demon out of the demon's soul once

heavy:

• not only treats his guns like real women, but takes them on mock dates too for fun. usually conscripts scout to help because scout finds it funny

• the favorite to heal on the field by medic due to the fact his pain tolerance allows medic to see just how much punishment his daddy coworker can take. he knows this and does not care so long as he can stay near medic

• has used scout as a projectile before. just picked him up and thrown him by his ankles. didn't work but it was fun

scout:

• plays pranks on the rest of the team and is rewarded with being regularly beat within an inch of his life

• besties with pyro because they're both outcasts on the team

after trespasser, she went to wycome to be with her clan for a while to take a breather and recover (she's big on her family time). this is when she meets elowen, my aldwir rook!

i don't care what dai has to say about it, her and sera are besties. it was definitely rocky for a while but they were eventually able to reconcile their beliefs with each other and become close in spite of their differences <3

she used to have really bad nightmares as a kid. zahariel came up with a routine to scare away the monsters under her bed that would calm her down after a nightmare

-well, you think that way until you joke about it towards Kaiser and he tells you "Yeah, I've been treating you like a sibling, haven't I?" and then it kinda hits you

-until that point, you've never seriously thought of him as some sort of brother figure in your life, but when he's the one saying it, you figure it must be true

-but hey, who are you to complain? Kaiser rarely thinks of anyone as highly as he thinks of himself, and by being a brother figure to you, that means he thinks of you higher than of other people

-he definitely sees you above the other assistants. He thinks Claire and Mao are annoying and often rants about them in front of you. But like, they're your coworkers and best friends so sometimes you have little arguments with Kaiser on how annoying they really are

-Kaiser actually has fair points in the arguments so you can't really blame him for thinking Claire and Mao are annoying

-as much as you try to be professional during working hours, you often can't hold yourself back from teasing Kaiser while he's at soccer practice. Sometimes you just yell something at him and Noa looks at you with a "Can you please get yourself together?" gaze that makes you want to laugh, but you don't want to make a too bad impression on him, so you at least try to keep those silly comments about Kaiser in your head

-if the assistants ever become a conversation topic, Kaiser always talks about how you're the best and doing the best work out of everyone. He literally does not give a shit about Claire and Mao, only about you

-that's flattering (to you) and insulting (to Claire and Mao) at the same time

My best friend was dating a narcissist and I saw some red flags early on but she's a psychologist with a fucking doctorate degree so I kind of kept my thoughts to myself for the first idk 6 months they were seeing each other. I guess I assumed she would see the signs for herself and make a decision to engage with him. I also didn't want to ruin the honeymoon period she was going through because she genuinely seemed so happy.

They are coworkers. I already gave her my 2 cents and said she was taking a risk having sex with a coworker. I've done it too, it happens to a lot of people and there are varying consequences.

There were so many signs he was a piece of shit. He wouldn't let her in his house. My reaction was naturally "what's inside the house? What is he hiding?" We would laugh about it but the only time she went there, he said he had to run inside to grab clothes and he had her wait in the car.

When she brought him to dinner to meet me and my bf, he was super reserved and didn't say much. At the time when he visited, I also had 2 friends staying at my house over the weekend. They're a couple, and one of them does bdsm/dominatrix work when she visits us because she has a lot of clients in this area. They didn't go out to dinner with us, but I suggested going back to my place for drinks after dinner. So we go home and naturally the couple joins us in the kitchen for beer or wine. And one of them (the one who is the partner of the sex worker) recognizes the coworker. "I feel like I've met you before," she says to him. "I get that a lot" he says, and doesn't elaborate. He is super quiet and hardly engages with any of us. After my bestie and her coworker/boyfriend leave, the couple staying with us tells me that they definitely recognized him from work- either a sex party or he was a past client. They also ask me to keep it a secret, because they aren't 100% sure and don't want to cause any drama in my friend's life, so I do keep it a secret.

My best friend didn't want to be in a monogamous relationship with him, but he begged her to be his girlfriend. So for only 6 months they were in a "relationship" where she only saw him, and presumably he was with her. But he wouldn't respond to her on weekends and she would frequently become frustrated, saying "I have a 'boyfriend' who doesn't talk to me." I had to finally look her in the eyes and tell her why I didn't like him and I didn't like the way he treated her and she finally broke it off with him at work the following week.

What was inside the house? A fucking family. A mother and child. His child.

After she broke up with him, she started receiving phone calls, texts and voicemails from 2 women- the mother of his child (who he lives with) and another coworker who was also "dating" him. She did not engage with either of them. But she was bombarded with information about his relationship with both of these women, and they demanded info from her.

Last night I went to her place and she told me all of this and more, and I told her about the sex worker friend recognizing him. We can definitely confirm that he's a sex addict and this probably isn't the first time the mother has discovered he had multiple partners.

I'm still reeling from this and so disturbed by the way this man moved so casually into my friend's life -- into MY LIFE -- and lied about everything to us and continues to hurt people around him with no consequences. First, romantic Everthorne is really not my thing, but ship and let ship.

So I don't hate the idea of platonic Everthorne, like in fanfic settings and whatnot. In fact, despite what I'm going to say, I'm trying to write one of those right now! I get the appeal of them being platonic besties, but I don't think it's platonic in canon. It's a one-sided workplace romance. I'm putting my reasoning below a cut if you don't feel like reading borderline Gale-slander.

Before people throw quotes in my face, I'm aware Katniss calls Gale her best friend and we see her anger about his whipping and that they work well together as hunters. I'm not denying any of that.

What I think is that Katniss and Gale bonded through their similar trauma which is why they hang around each other and know each other, but they're more like coworkers than friends. Katniss even talks about this when she describes her relationship with him. They "grudgingly" shared knowledge and tools and resources. Their relationship is entirely transactional: they do better for their families when they work together, which is why they even start hanging out. Even promising to take care of each other's families should one of them be reaped is transactional, as they are also ensuring safety for their family by making their promise. In fact, with all of the slips Gale has, he was more likely to need to cash that out! Everything about their relationship reads entirely contractual to me. Very business. When Katniss comes back from the Games having played the romantic angle with Peeta, in CF Gale acts as if she's broken an agreement they made, what with him getting so pissy she wants to save Peeta and Haymitch from torture/death from her running away.

That's not to say they have no positive interactions--they do. But even at their most positive, such as the story of how Katniss got Lady, Gale's just kinda there. Katniss's focus and attention is entirely on making Prim happy, helping their family survive. Or before the reaping, they're already arguing about having kids and it's weird how much they rile each other up over something that's such a personal choice (of course, to Gale at this point it's not so individual as he has feelings for her). Basically, it reminds me of coworkers who get along and help pass the time, even help each other when there's a bad boss or angry customer or whatever. And they clearly know how to hunt together and know one another's thoughts. Then one of them caught feelings due to their consistent proximity to each other and wants it to move in a romantic direction. But at the end of the day they're going to drift apart once those things holding them together is gone--aka, feeding their families, the Capitol, and the war.

It's also hard for me to see platonic connections when Gale has said that dying for Katniss is the only way to "convince" Katniss that you love her. I see everything he does with this lens of convincing Katniss to be with him, to choose him. Anything that might seem platonic has a weird overlay of this motivation of trying to win her over. And since that's not how romantic relationships work, it doesn't work on a romantic or a platonic level. Everything a friendship should be to be a real, genuine friendship isn't there between them.

I don't see Gale as a safe person for Katniss emotionally because he's usually forcing his opinion on her, guilting her, or again, I can't trust he's not trying a new tactic to win her over by appealing to seeing him as a hero (like going to rescue Peeta). I don't see them having fun together--without needing to hunt, really, what would they do together? What would a fun date look like for them? I don't see their principles aligning in Mockingjay and that's a really obvious point Suzanne was trying to make. Basically, I don't see what they're supposed to build a friendship on other than they both lost their dads and have to feed their families.

They're coworkers. They're just coworkers.
