Nah, I'm sorry, but Jiang Cheng did NOT consent to receiving Wei Wuxian's golden core. If he did, that scene wouldn't have been as big as a surprise for not only us as the readers but also JC himself.
That scene was a MASSIVE plot twist. It wouldn't have been had JC consented or demanded that WWX hand over his core to him.
Not only that, if it was all completely consensual, WWX and the Wen siblings wouldn't have had to have kept that secret hidden from JC and the rest of the world for all those years. It would have become public knowledge. And who knows, it may have even paved the way for future core transplant surgeries. But it didn't. Because it was kept in secret and it was kept in secret for a reason.
Because Jiang Cheng would have never agreed to it.
Jiang cheng was lead to believe that he would get HIS OWN core back from Boashan Sanren. He was never told it would be a core transplant. He was lead to believe he would be receiving a new core of his own. Especially since this Boashan Sanren was a fabled woman, known for her inhuman abilities.
Why else would WWX mislead JC up the mountain, blindfolded, and told him to pretend that he was WWX? He did so because he knew that JC would never consent to Wen Qing experimenting on him, on top of removing WWX's core and putting it into his own body.
WWX knew that JC would NEVER agree to that, that's why he made the whole thing up.
So whilst WWX and the Wen siblings were acting within JC's best interests, it was still nonconsenual. He didn't agree to that surgery. Your idea of medical consent is completely skewed if you think otherwise.
Patients always have the right to withdraw consent and reject treatment. And they should always be made aware of what treatment and surgeries they will be receiving in order to accept or reject said treatment.
So yes, by modern medical law standards, it was nonconsenual surgery.
For the sake of fiction and it being in an ancient setting, I'll let it slide and not apply such logic here in WWX's case. But if we're really going to go there and argue the ethics behind it, I'll stand here and say that it was completely nonconsenual, and JC had every right to be upset by it. Especially since said surgery cost WWX his life, which JC was more than willing to sacrifice his OWN LIFE for.

have you ever heard of "suspension of disbelief?"
ok. next step. do you know what an unreliable narrator is and can you separate the character's perspective and opinions from the writers? because i promise you that the beliefs of the main character do not always reflect the writers and the point of analyzing media is to dissect that.
#like guys sometimes the silly jokes in the cartoon are JUST silly jokes you gotta let them be silly jokes#sometimes the shenanigans are super outlandish because it's a FICTIONAL CARTOON where sentient AIs and magic exist#i promise you. I PROMISE YOU that rottmnt's mind meld was not some elaborate problematic take on eugenics of all things#<- an actual thing i read with my own eyes#like i promise you that is literally not what the episode was doing#'they kept saying they made his brothers smarter which is incredibly ableist because it implies they weren't smart before'#ahem. it was donnie's idea of smarter#you know donnie. the one who constantly puts his intelligence on a pedestal to boost his ego#it was HIS definition of smarter and that is not the narratives definition#i think the series makes that abundantly clear with how much they make fun of donnie for whatever superiority complex he's got going on#and (in the nicest way possible) if you watch the episode it's not actually that they're getting 'smarter' what is actually happening#is that they are beginning to act more and more like donnie personality wise#and that the conflict starts with donnie feeling like they don't fully understand him.#and since donnie is a flawed character his way of coping with that is by being like 'well clearly they're inferior to my intelligence!'#(which .. if you really dissect his character is not actually what he means he just doesn't know how to constructively word his feelings)

Lost my original post of this from the other day but I genuinely don't understand how Black Butler discourse ever shifted into the does Sebastian ~really~ like Ciel or is Ciel just dinner line of conversation that is pervasive as it is because Sebastian is the one that has absorbed his whole existence into Ciel's. 1. Leonard "Bones" McCoy! I've loved him since I was in single digits watching TOS on my grandma's tiny portable kitchen TV heh. Absolute smokeshow, gorgeous accent, the works. I love one cranky doctor!!! He's smart, he's got heart, I adore his humanism and his friendship (and more!!!) with Jim, and oh my god, his blue blue eyes. And his forearms. And his EYEBROW and his fluffy hair!!!
2. Sartauvoir quo Soranus of FFXIV IVth Legion! He's a sadistic pyromaniac whose favourite pastime is burning people alive, and he's p obviously in love with his superior Basch van Gabranth (pictured here smooching his BEAUTIFUL FACE) who died 30 years before the bit of the game Sart is in. His bit of game is heavily Ivalice-based, hence the Basch heh. He transforms into a giant fire monster during his duels and has a penchant for summoning phoenixes and time magick fuckery, he's so much fun and is my absolute beloved. He has truly like a total of 20 minutes of game time and not a single cutscene and I adore him with every fibre of my being!!
3. This is a toss-up, but forever loves must win out: Doctor Cid, of FFXII! He's one of my fave kind of characters - super smart scientisty dudes who are a bit morally dubious and also antagonists 🥰🥰 I love the way he speaks, his beautiful nose and how chubby he is, and his stupid long thighboots and his super active way of gesticulating andandand- well ofc his relationship with Vayne. Obviously. And his little purple tie and his greying hair and WELL. HIS EVERYTHING.

Actually think he's got ALL the great points. I am LIVING for Sith-centric POVs. The Jedi aren't right and good simply by virtue of being Jedi. I wanna hear what the other side has to say about it.
It's about time we had a sympathetic glance at the Sith. What's gonna happen next? When and what's the shoe that's about to drop?? Will the Sith be JUSTIFIED or will things revert back to ye olde Jedi=Right?

#dancer colleague abandoned me. he asked to switch classes bc he couldn't take our 5th graders any more#it's fair tho i don't blame him. and we still share shifts so!!!#he's the one that got absolutely bashed by the parents. took everything on himself leaving me out for the majority of the time#now im with teddy bear colleague who's only good at well looking pretty and that's it lmaoo#kids already told me he [dancer colleague] is out you're next#at the beginning of the school year nobody wanted this class bc of how problematic they are so we ended up taking them#they literally had three colleagues switching classes last year. then me and dancer colleague took them#and we kinda agreed to ask our boss to switch us out together but i am so so worried about a student with a delicate situation#and they're very shy and only now they're starting to trust me so i preferred staying with this class to see if i can do something about it#ah but dancer colleague was so nice today!! in the middle of the shift he came to check on me and asked me if i was okay 😭#he literally saw me on the verge on a mental breakdown trying to handle 42 kids while teddy bear colleague was sleeping while standing...#and he cracked a joke and he was so so so nice you guys i melted#teddy bear colleague is. not it he can't handle kids for shit and especially not this class 😭#i'm gonna go crazy doing all this shit on my own#nora purtroppo parla

tempted to make a story that'd cause so much discourse on this app and would probably get me doxxed if it got noticed
#i want to make “problematic” stories with shitty characters#like yes they're great for these aspects but also they're a murderer#and i want to take a character of mine and make two of them to study how people would react/treat them#my stories will probaby never get any notice but i like the idea of it causing discourse#the mc is a girl who's a fucked up burnt out people pleaser that easily gets manipulated and turns into a god against her will#i think people would find a way to find bad stuff about her like 'she didnt have to kill those guardian angels or kill that capitalist scum'#but she had to because she thought jt was the only option to and she's stuck with someone highly manipulative#and on top of it the manipulative guy is a major fucking liar who's like “yeah these guys are actually killing humans lol”#people would probably really like or hate this one character from the cult the mc kind of breaks up?#she doesnt full on destroy the cult as its existence still lingers but its still there haunting the narrative and the character#as hes constantly in some kind of hiding and terrified of any strangers as he sees everyone as some sort of threat#also i think a funny part i havent revealed to people i know is that hell does and doesn't exist at the same time because its just earth#heaven doesnt exist either#god(s) exist in the world just because they're technically just what makes up the universe/crucial things that hold up existence#but gods are really easy to kill tbh#hard to make but easy to kill#also angels are technically like fucked up lice/dandruff that tried to find a purpose and build a society#and the only way they can travel to earth is through black holes#all of this is more of background info tbh#some major themes would be about the affects of abuse/mental issues and thay family doesnt have to be blood related#also of course dog metaphors will fit some of the characters#and of course how obsession left unchecked is really unhealthy for every side sometimes#a lot of the themes are a little vent related but id rather put my soul into a story rather than make it plain and going into purity culture#edit: also most of the characters are trans and queer but not explicitly said because its not important to the story/whats going on#like yes this kid in hiding is trans and queer but he's in hiding from a cult to really think of romance or more about his gender#also i think itd be kind of silly that even through the worst living conditions that he was still given a binder and gender affirming care#considering how his life goes in there#like “your family will miss you please dont leave us my faithful daughter” “hey actually im a guy sorry” “oh okay. dont leave us my son”#they can excuse child torture and cannibalism but they draw the line at transphobia
