But it's 100% true so I had to post it.#elizabeth woodville#my post#Imo this is mainly because Elizabeth's negative historiography has always involved both vilification and diminishment in equal measure.#and because her brand of vilification (femme fatale; intriguer) suggests more indirect/“feminine” than legitimate/forceful types of power#It's still bizarre though-you'd think these would be some of the most famous & defining aspects of Elizabeth's life. But apparently not#I guess she only matters when it comes to marrying Edward and Promoting Her Family and scheming against Richard#There is very lacking interest in her beyond those things even in her traditionally negative depictions#And most of her “reassessments” tend to do diminish her so badly she's rendered utterly irrelevant and almost pathetic by the end of it#Even when some of these things *are* mentioned they're never truly emphasized as they should be.#See: her formal appointment in royal councils. It was highly unconventional + entirely unprecedented for queens in the 14th & 15th century#You'd think this would be incredibly important and highlighted when analyzing late medieval queenship in England but apparently not#Historians are more willing to straight-up INVENT positions & roles for so many other late medieval queens/king's mothers that didn't exist#(not getting into this right now it's too long...)#But somehow acknowledging and discussing Elizabeth's ACTUAL formally appointed role is too much for them I guess#She's either subsumed into the general vilification of her family (never mind that they were known as 'the queen's kin' to actual#contemporaries; they were defined by HER not the other way around) or she's rendered utterly insignificant by historians. you know, i always find it really funny when dudebros complain about syndicate and odyssey being too "jokey" or not "taking its characters seriously" or whatever…
like, did y'all collectively sleep through "it's-a me, mario!", "i meant besides vaginas", ezio inventing the latte, bartolomeo's... just... *gestures vaguely* entire character, etc?
like, it's fine to have preferences of course, i myself prefer a more serious and grounded tone, but these are usually the same people who tout the ezio trilogy as "peak assassin's creed", call ac1 a glorified tech demo and hate on connor for being "too serious and boring", like? make it make sense!

pretty sure i just got a spider bite while trying to fall asleep 🧍
#i thought it was just a stray hair on my elbow under the blanket and kept trying to shake it off#and then i finally went to brush it off w my hand and felt a bump there#and then it was unbearably itchy so i turned the lamp on to apply some anti-itch stuff bc it was driving me nuts#and i was trying to see where it was on my elbow bc wtf when did i get bit#and then i looked at it and it was very pale like a fresh bite and then there was some skin torn like a spider bite#i cant tell if theres two little holes or not and honestly idk if spiders always leave two fang marks fjdkdl#but it doesnt look like a mosquito bite unless i tore the skin myself from scratching at it#but the way it is looking... very similar to past spider bites#anyways i just removed everything from my bed and methodically searched Everything. looked all around the bed too. cannot find a spider#so. shrug. <- actually very afraid#but the thing that makes me Really think it's a spider is that the bump was super pale and now after a little while it is regular skintone#so that makes me think it was a brand new fresh bite the way it was a different colour and now its normal looking#which is uhhh scary! to have had a spider possibly in my bed!#and I can't find it so i simply do not Know and that is going to make it so hard to sleep tonight fjfkdl#man i barely ate today too so im just... really not doing well at this very moment fjfkdl#i cant eat anything rn though bc i already brushed my teeth and i dont want to do that again tonight fjfkdl#but i am. so hungry. augh. idk what I'd even eat anyways im too anxious to stomach anything#WHERE IS THIS SPIDER. It's not Sunday here any more but I can't sleep so I'm gonna do this one anyway.
From Chapter 5 (the next-but-one) of The Sylki Arranged Marriage AU, when they've fucked again but they still hate each other:
Without looking round to see the smug grin that she knows is going to be on his face, Sylvie shrugs. “We’ve fucked twice now and I only came one of those times – my own hand’s got a far more consistent history of satisfying me. And that’s my left hand, by the way, and just so we’re clear I signed that contract and everything else I’ve ever put my name on with the right one.” That little diatribe wins her several seconds of what sounds – or rather doesn’t sound – like a rather shocked silence. That smug smile will have vanished now, which brings on one of her own; if he’s going to insist on being a rude, unpleasant piece of shit then she can be one too.

Something about the way the narrative keeps using food as a means of connection between the main group and Sango and Onyx, just like how Dot's arc of opening up included food (and how Dot helped the restaurant's owners with their menu to make food enjoyable for everyone and that "everyone" included someone from the antagonist side too).
#food also being a means to humanize the explorers a bit more too#liko willing to share food with sango back in hz043 and sango refusing#and baking alongside sango in hz047 which may have made them get closer to each other in some way even though it ended a bit badly#onyx going out for lunch in hz058 and getting closer to the trio in a way#trying out the menu dot had a hand in and thinking it was good#aka onyx has been affected in some way already by the trio and maybe that'll be significant down the line#and the implication that sango and onyx go out for food together (hz050) even though we haven't actually seen it yet..#similar story beats used but in a different situation and for different characters#(also zir was the one who recommended the cotton candy to dot when she made her vid about it in hz022)#(and now dot got connected to another explorer member using food)#wonder if they're going somewhere with this#at least it happened enough times that it stands out by now#sango#onyx#hz058#character notes#episode notes

The surgery went well! (And I thank everyone for the positive feedback on that post of mine.)
Though it's weird not being able to talk at all today after that, but I knew ahead of time that I wouldn't be able to, LOL, and that I wouldn't be able to eat normal foods for a while (and that's kind of similar to when I got my wisdom teeth out).
According to the ENT, my voice will, at first, be worse than it was before surgery (something I also knew ahead of time). But here's hoping that eventually it'll be louder/stronger than it was.
It won't at all fix all of my vocal cord problems--this isn't a solution so much as a help--but it'll be so nice if people will actually be able to hear me again, and if my voice won't fade out, etc.
If it does work, I'll definitely be looking to get a more permanent injection in the future:)
#my vocal cords have atrophied and both of them are also paralyzed (which is actually pretty rare. usually if you have a vocal cord that's#paralyzed it's one and not both). because of this they don't want to come together and vibrate like they're supposed to nor close#and this has affected my voice in a lot of ways. like with the volume that i mentioned above (and getting even more into that to be heard a#all i felt like i was shouting--even though i wasn't at all--and it would hurt/strain my voice)#and as for the paralyzed thing... that can actually be life threatening because you can suffocate. and since my vocal cords aren't closing#food can go where it isn't supposed to#my surgery today doesn't fix the atrophy or the paralysis. nothing can. but at least it might make my voice louder#my doctor thinks that my vocal cord stuff is probably neurological based since usually this kind of stuff happens in older patients#but it can happen if you. for example. have a neuro-muscular disease#and since i've had neuro stuff going on for years (with symptoms similar to neuro-muscular stuff) he thinks something has been missed#there was also quite a bit of pain after surgery--and i kind of guessed there would be--but right now i'm doing okay: though that might be#partly because of the medicine i was given. or maybe the pain is starting to wear off some. idk. -shrugs-
