Falling asleep on each other + Buddie
Hi and I'm so sorry this took many months to respond to I'm finally looking at these again sfkjhf
Inviting Eddie over for a movie night after one of the busiest shifts all year had been a bit of a mistake, in hindsight.
Buck had set out a vast array of snacks - from popcorn to some weird trail mix he'd never seen before - and had ordered takeout from Eddie's favourite Mexican joint up the road. He still had that inflatable mattress that Chimney had slept on during the lockdown, so he'd blown that up too and placed it at the foot of the couch, giving him and Eddie ample room to spread themselves out.
While he'd done this, Eddie had showered and changed into a pair of Buck's sweatpants and a hoodie. Something had clenched deep in Buck's chest at the sight of Eddie descending the stairs from the loft, hair damp and tousled, with Buck's favourite grey hoodie hanging loosely over his torso. He looked loose and relaxed, like the water had washed away all the tensions of the day, leaving behind nothing but warm, rosy skin and the smell of Buck's orange and vanilla body wash.
They'd only been dating a few weeks but it stoked a possessive fire deep in the pit of Buck's to see his boyfriend dressed in his clothing, smelling of his bodywash.
It was almost as if Eddie had been claimed as his.
Eddie crossed the kitchen and flopped himself onto the half-bed, half- couch (bouch?) and patted the empty space beside him.
"C'mere. I'm cold and I plan to use you as my own personal heater for the rest of the evening."
With a fond chuckle, Buck grabbed a bowl of popcorn and joined Eddie on the couch. He tucked a soft, minky blanket around Eddie, pulling it up over his chest and tucking it under his chin. He planted a kiss to Eddie's forehead and pulled back with a grin.
"Snug as a bug in a rug."
"That's such a weird saying," Eddie pointed out as he extracted his arms from beneath the blanket. He swiped a couple of pieces of popcorn and popped them in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. "When are bugs ever in rugs?"
Buck shrugged. "When they're not vacuumed efficiently? It's just a saying."
"You're cute." Eddie tapped Buck's cheek. "What are we going to watch?"
After much deliberation, they settled on Deadpool. Christopher had mentioned wanting to see the newest film with some of his friends, and Eddie had agreed on the provision that he watched the film first and made sure it was appropriate.
"Holy shit, there is absolutely no way I'm letting Christopher watch that," Eddie said 2 hours later, completely gobsmacked.
Buck was beside himself with glee. "That was one of the best movies I've ever seen!" He grinned. "You're not gonna let Chris watch that?"
Somewhere along the lines, Eddie had listed over and was settled heavily against Buck's side. He shook his head in response, his nose brushing against the hollow of Buck's throat.
"Absolutely not. I've got half a mind to ask him why he thought he'd get away with it."
Buck pressed a kiss to Eddie's temple.
"He's a teenager, he's just testing the waters. We all did it."
They're silent for a moment. Buck's fingers carded gently through Eddie's hair, stroking soothingly.
"We could watch the sequel? I know it's on Disney+ somewhere"
Eddie hummed softly and shifted in Buck's arms, resting his head against Buck's chest. His eyes were drooping sleepily, his face slack with relaxation.
"Not sure I can keep my eyes open long enough," he admitted.
Buck smiled down at him fondly. He'd known from the moment Eddie had climbed down the stairs, freshly showered and dressed, that he wouldn't make it through the evening without falling asleep. Showers and fresh clothes were Eddie's kryptonite, much like a baby with their favourite blanket. Buck was honestly surprised he'd made it through the movie without falling asleep - though that would have been an impressive feat considering how action filled the film was. And Ryan Reynolds was too hot to miss a second of.
"That's okay, baby," he reassured, still stroking Eddie's hair. "We can just stay here and rest for a minute."
Eddie nuzzled further into Buck's chest and let out a small noise of contentment.
"Resting sounds good," he slurred sleepily, a gigantic yawn splitting his face in two. He smacked his lips and curled the blanket in his fist, both hands tucked under his chin now. Sleepy, squishy, snuggly Eddie was Buck's absolute favourite and he wanted nothing more than curl around him and snarl at anything that tried to touch him.
Buck gently shifted them down the couch so they were stretched out, half on the couch and half on the blowup mattress. He adjusted the blanket so it was laying over top of both of them and went back to his ministrations, stroking Eddie's hair with one hand and tracing feather-light touches over his back with the other.
Slowly but surely, Eddie's breathing began to deepen and even out. His jaw slackened and Buck slowly began to notice a warm, damp patch blooming across his shirt. Despite his vehement denial, Eddie was a drooler.
"Sleep well, sweetheart," Buck whispered into Eddie's hair. He wasn't sure if his boyfriend was awake enough to hear it, but he didn't mind.
Buck felt himself begin to sink further into the cushions as Eddie's breathing lulled him into a state of deep relaxation. He hadn't ever been able to fall asleep easily with other people but there was something about Eddie that made him feel instantly at peace.
Maybe it was the way they'd known each other for years, or the way Eddie's presence was like a balm over any of Buck's problems, making them melt into the background at the mere glimpse of his smile.
Eddie was safety, and Buck's body knew that as he slowly began to drift off himself, soothed by his boyfriend's soft breaths.

Cowboy & Piggy

Fennel Fields wasn't a good restaurant. It didn't have the funding franchise restaurants do, nor did it have the home grown passion of a family owned business. It just existed to make money for the boss, who wasn't even there most of the time.
The food was cheap and unhealthy and often covered in cheese so whoever was eating it was far more focused on that cheesy goodness rather than the fact that the meatballs tasted a fair bit like horse.
All of the employees were underpaid and underappreciated by their bosses, so why the hell did Adrian Chase work there? As of late, he'd been earning a steady income thanks to Task Force X so it wasn't a financial decision. It wasn't to conceal his identity either - if anything, he'd almost revealed his secret at Fennel Fields too many times to count.
Why, oh why, did he work a menial job with an awful wage when it mainly consisted of being ordered around and shouted at by customers and managers alike?
Well, he wouldn't get to see Y/N if he left.
The best part of his day was when she rushed through the double glass doors and, as soon as she looked up to find him standing at the counter, she'd do a little half smile and greet, "Hi Ade, how late am I today?" He'd check his watch and tell her the exact time, often adding a little comment like 'it's your new record', or 'not as late as yesterday', or 'you missed the bus, didn't you?'.
Adrian was down bad. He memorised her shifts whenever the rota was posted and swapped so she wouldn't have to go too long without his presence. It was stupid and a little stalkerish, but it kept him going.
Half - if not more than that - of all of his shifts were spent watching her with big puppy dog eyes, just admiring from across the room as she worked. It was pathetic, he knew that. And even if he didn't know that, their other coworkers were more than willing to point it out to him.
"Drooling over Y/N again?" Taylor jeered as he slapped Adrian on the back of the head to snap him out of the trance he'd been in ever since she started bending over a table to clean it.
Hey, she had a great ass! Was he supposed to not look? It's human nature to look.
"Ah, no. No, no, no, of course not. I wouldn't... I don't..." He spluttered helplessly, flustering himself into an even deeper blush at the implications. "We are just friends. Pals. Buddies. Y'know, all platonic and shit."
Taylor rolled his eyes. "Sure." He said sarcastically, unaware that Y/N had walked up to them at the moment he teased, "You're a lost cause, man. I'd give up. She'll never like you. You're, uh... you."
"That's not very nice."
Y/N gave Taylor a stare that told him exactly what she thought about his comment and turned to Adrian, placing her palm gently on his forearm as she assured him, "Any girl would be lucky to have you, cowboy."
He smiled shyly and nodded, feeling incredibly grateful for her words because they'd given him some kind of hope that the thought of them, yeah, maybe it wasn't so outlandish. She thought he was dateable. Maybe not dateable for her, but at least she saw enough qualities within him that she believed he had the ability to be dateable to someone.
And if he was cool enough in her eyes to get a nickname like 'cowboy', there must be someone else who thought the same and was available.
Though, the term had come from their first shift together when Adrian got so nervous meeting her and his mouth decided to talk about the movie 'Cowboys and Aliens' the entire time. By the end of the day, she may not have known his name, but she did know that Robert Downey Jr was originally set to be the lead but there were scheduling difficulties because he was filming on the 2nd Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes movie and had to be replaced by Daniel Craig.
The next time they worked together, Y/N tried to get Adrian's attention but couldn't since he'd never told her his name. So, she called out, "Cowboy guy!" and, surprisingly, Adrian turned around. He pointed to himself as if to say, 'Me?' and came running as soon as she nodded.
"You didn't tell me your name." She tilted his name tag so she could read it. "Adrian."
"That's me."
"That's you, cowboy."
That, as they say, is history. Not only did a hot girl give him a nickname but she continued to seek him out whenever the job got boring and she wanted someone to talk to. Or someone to ramble on and on about useless stuff at her. Adrian was that guy™️.
"Come on, Y/N. Don't give him false hope." Taylor remarked with a sly smile. "The girl he's drooling over is way, way out of his league."
Whatever Y/N had planned to do was cut short. She stopped in place.
"I didn't know you liked anyone." Her head tilted as she surveyed Adrian's entire flushing face. "I thought you told me everything?"
That was mostly true. Adrian did have a habit of spilling his guts to Y/N. So far, there had only been two things that he managed to keep under wraps - his secret identity and his secret crush - yet, every other thought he had, she had been told about it.
"I, uh, I.. I gotta keep some cards to close my chest." Adrian mumbled out , glancing away before continuing, "But, uh, it's okay, y'know. She doesn't like me like that."
Scoffing, Taylor confirmed, "No, she certainly doesn't." Y/N slapped his arm for being so rude so he was quick to justify himself by adding, "She's got a boyfriend, doesn't she, 'cowboy'?" and left the kitchen as quickly as he could.
As much as it killed him to say, yes, Y/N had a boyfriend. He was cool and handsome and a total dickhead. That wasn't Adrian's jealousy talking, Steve was just like all the jocks that had beat up Adrian in high school - all macho and womanising - and if he had to try to quantify how many times Steven had cheated on Y/N, Adrian wouldn't even begin to know what two digit number to guess.
Y/N sighed, "Oh, I'm sorry, that sucks. There's plenty more fish."
"Yeah... Maybe. I don't know." Adrian shrugged, trying to seem as nonchalant about it as he possibly could - he probably wasn't very convincing given that she was still looking at him with so much sympathy on her face - and he didn't feel like elaborating further. "How's Steve? Is he coming in today?"
The quick change of topic was noted by Y/N, yet she simply replied, "Nope!"
"Oh?"
"Told him not to. If you do see him though, tell me so I can hide."
"Why'd you wanna hide from your boyfriend?" he wondered out loud curiously, tilting his head as he examined her. Then, his eyes went wide as he realised what he'd said. "Shit, don't answer that. Unless you want to. It's up to you. Obviously. You can tell me if you want to. Not that you should. You can. I want to know. Not in, like, a creepy way, but in a 'I'm your friend and I'm here for you' way..."
He proceeded to spiral into a nervous ramble that over-explained everything and had at least 4 completely irrelevant tangents, none of which made any sense whatsoever, while Y/N stared at him in amusement. His words were coming out at a mile a minute and they just kept coming, and she had learnt that it was best if she just waited for his breath to run out.
His rants always went in a weird direction. And unlike other people, Y/N liked his weirdness. It was her favourite thing about him. Well, that and his dimples.
Or how easy it was for him to make her laugh.
Or that mole on his cheekbone.
Or the way he'd push up his glasses with his middle finger and forget that he was technically flipping her off, only to realise and purposefully flip her off playfully.
Or his biceps, which she hadn't seen often as he usually kept to baggier, unflattering clothes, but she had seen them once when a customer spilt their drink on her and she hadn't brought a spare top. Adrian had offered his cardigan to her, and she finally got a small glimpse of what he looked like underneath it. It's safe to say she was impressed.
Adrian was cute when he was rambling - he was always cute but especially so when his brain had no control over his mouth - so all Y/N could do was to beam at him and softly laugh every time he'd start to babble nonsense. After a few minutes, his breathing finally calmed down, he blinked twice, cleared his throat, took a few deep breaths, then looked up at her.
Thanks to his rant and how wildly he gestured, his glasses were slightly crooked on his nose. Y/N fingers hovered by his ears as she scrutinised his glasses and tilted them back into place and gently brushed her fingertips through the hair just above his ear so it wasn't so unruly.
Adrian swallowed thickly. It was an audible gulp that caught Y/N's attention and she met his eye. He seemed somewhat uncomfortable so Y/N was blurting out, "Sorry, cowboy. I should've asked before I did that. Consent and all, y'know?" to apologise and smooth things over.
"You can touch me whenever you want to."
Shit. That was a little too obvious. 'You can touch me whenever you want to'? That's what his mouth came up with? In his head, it sounded innocent enough, but as soon as it left his lips, he scrunched his eyes up in embarrassment.
That is not something you say to a girl with a boyfriend.
A blush came to Y/N's cheeks. She knew he was awkward and often said things without thinking before they came out. He hadn't intended that sentence to sound the way it did, she was aware, but there was a hint of hope that maybe, just maybe, he did mean it exactly as he said it.
"I'll, I'll be sure to remember that next time I invade your personal space," she joked with a sheepish smile.
All of a sudden, doing the washing up became very appealing to Adrian. He needed to be doing something, needed to have something to split his focus in order to remain in one piece. Any more slip ups with Y/N and he would become a mess. He made a big deal of turning the tap on and squidging far too much washing up liquid into the sink.
The sound of the rusty pipes and gushing water almost overwhelmed Y/N's voice as she uttered, "Steve and I, we, uh, broke up."
Adrian immediately switched off the tap. It took him a second to register what Y/N had said.
"What?"
"We broke up. I called it quits with him."
Boom. A bomb had been dropped. This was huge news. The biggest news ever. They had broken up. Like, officially. It wasn't everyday that something so great happened in Adrian's life, so he was ecstatic.
"Thank God!" he cheered, completely forgetting to put up any facade or pretend that he wasn't over the fucking moon.
Steve and Adrian hadn't been best of friends but in the limited interactions they had had, Adrian had been polite to her ex boyfriend. Y/N raised an eyebrow at her friend's display of excitement.
"I thought you two got along?"
"He was an asshole, Y/N! Seriously!" His grin was almost manic, and his hands shook as he clapped them together a few times. "You're so much better off without him."
"Hell yeah, I am!"
His happy mood was infecting Y/N. Before she'd been going back and forth on whether breaking up with Steve had been the right thing to do or not, but now, thanks to Adrian's support, she knew it was 100% the right choice. Yeah, they'd been together for a year or so and giving that up instead of working on it could be considered a waste but...
"He didn't deserve me. That cheating asshole didn't deserve a single minute, no, second of my time!"
At that, Adrian remembered one time when he caught her boyfriend ogling their coworker Jennifer, who had a very prominent chest. She was a provocative person. All her clothes were a little bit small and slutty - not that being a slutty was a bad thing since Adrian was a big advocate of women being sexually liberated and having the ability to fuck whoever they wanted to. Jennifer wasn't the problem, far from it.
The way Steve caught eye contact with him and gave him a look that screamed 'I'd hit that ass' turned Adrian's blood into pure fire. In his mind, Adrian couldn't fathom ever wanting to leer at other women when Y/N - his literal dream girl - was right beside him. Steve had a smoking hot 10/10 on his arm and still wanted to play the field.
Fuck that guy!
Still, it sucks to be cheated on. Despite the brave face Y/N was putting on, it still sucked to have your trust betrayed over and over and, as far as she knew, at least another 17 times again.
"I'm really sorry, dude," Adrian said, and meant it. He wanted to comfort her in some way but didn't know how without looking weird, so he just half heartedly pinched at her arm, trying his best at reassuring. Y/N let out a tiny chuckle. It wasn't as bright as usual but it was more than sufficient to reassure Adrian.
"Hey, it's all good. My plan now is to stay single until Mr Right comes knocking at the door."
"Yeah? That's a good plan," Adrian nodded eagerly. "He's around, I'm sure of it."
"I hope he is. I haven't had an orgasm in the past - Jesus, how long? - year, I would love one right about now," Y/N laughed. Then, her brain caught up with what she'd said. "Not that you needed to know that. That was TMI, wasn't it?"
Was it? Was it really too much information? Maybe it was a little private, sure, but it was information that Adrian wanted to know. Well, he didn't want her unsatisfied and unhappy, but he now knew that he was capable of something that Steve hadn't thought about doing in an entire calendar year.
"I could fuck you better than he ever could."
There was a level of confidence in Adrian's voice that Y/N had never heard before. Her mind briefly blanked out due to the shock of hearing such words come out of Adrian's lips, and thanks to her dazed state, he got the wrong idea. His shoulders slumped and his ears became bright ruby red.
"What?" she mumbled.
"What?" He parroted back, his voice raising into a panicked squeak. Maybe she hadn't heard him. At this moment in time, he wished she hadn't heard him. "I didn't say anything. Did you hear something? Could've been Jennifer. I think I heard her saying something like that the other day."
Y/N's imagination was going wild and every single image that popped up was appealing to her. It would be a lie if she tried to say that she hadn't thought about it before, that she hadn't thought about him before. He was so nice and cute and had big biceps and was one of the only reasons she stayed at her shitty paying job.
"I heard you, cowboy." His eyes shot to meet hers. "You finish at 6 today, right?" He nodded. "Are you doing anything after that?"
No fucking way! Jackpot! He grinned to himself and looked at his hands in the soapy water. He simply couldn't help it.
"I have a few errands to do."
She attempted to not sound as disappointed as she felt. "...Oh, maybe another day then."
"No! No, I mean, I'm totally free after 7. Once I do my shit, I'm, like, totally not doing anything so if you wanted to - only if you want to, seriously no pressure or anything - we could watch a movie or I have a bunch of video games we could play or, I don't know... do something together and hang out and stuff? Anything you want, really. If you'd like?"
He cringed at how desperate he sounded when he finished his sentence. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin his chances. Yet, Y/N wasn't dissuaded by his words at all. If anything, she was more than tempted.
"I'd really like that, Ade."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"...Okay. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Very cool, very nice. I'll text you my address."
Time flew by as Adrian couldn't wait to finish work. They continued chatting as they worked, but both knew they were subconsciously focused on what would happen later that night. It was like some kind of gravitational pull that was making it difficult to keep them away from each other for more than a few minutes and it was driving both of them crazy.
6pm hit and Adrian was speeding to his 'errand'. He pulled up a few streets away, yanked on his Vigilante suit, and was stalking his way towards a suburban house. Steven had posted an image of him next to his car (that wasn't even particularly fancy, so why he showed it off like it was, Adrian didn't know) whilst outside this very house.
Be careful what you post, folks, or somebody might use your images to find where you live so they can beat you up.
Technically, cheating isn't illegal. But it is a sin - not that Adrian was religious in the slightest - and Adrian thought Y/N should have the world and this guy, this Steven, couldn't even provide her with basic human decency? Vigilante would be willing to expand his usual set of rules tonight. Steven deserved it.
Vigilante whistled to himself as he knocked and waited for Steven to appear. Once the asshole did open the door, Vigilante swung and hit him straight in the nose.
"What the fuck, man?" The bastard grabbed his nose to stop the bleeding and stared angrily up at Vigilante. "Vigilante does house calls now?"
"This ain't a house call. This is a message." Adrian paused for dramatic effect. "You're a cheating scumbag! I should chop your shrivelled dick off for being such an ungrateful cunt."
"Who sent you? Was it Tina?"
"Not Tina."
"Abby, then?"
"No."
"Liz?"
"Liz, no."
"Penny?"
"Dude, are you for real?"
"Emily A?"
"Jesus christ."
"Emily L?"
"OMG, you're the whoriest whore to ever whore!
Steven stood there, mouth opening and closing a few times before his pea brain managed to say, "No, you," and despite how lacklustre of a comeback that is, Steven seemed proud of himself.
It was quiet.
Then, because both of these men will ultimately try to solve everything with their fists, the boys lunged at each other. Steven had never been smart - he knew Vigilante was adept at hand to hand and had killed people before and still tried to fight the guy - so as he saw an opening, drove his fist into Vigilante's stomach. He was a beefy dude, so Adrian was aware that there was going to bruise there for a few days, but Vigilante had been in hundreds of fights. One blow to the stomach was not going to slow him down for long.
If anything, it urged Vigilante to be more vicious. With two quick punches - one to the groyne and another to the neck directly on his Adam's apple - Steven was crumpled on the ground in severe pain and having a hard time breathing.
"You hurt Y/N, you jackass!" Vigilante yelled, giving his reasoning away.
Shit. He hadn't meant to divulge that. He'd been so caught up in the moment that it slipped right out. And so, before anything else gave away snippets of his identity, Vigilante left the scene and rushed as fast as he possibly could back to his apartment building.
It was 6.56 when he finally got home. He had 4 minutes - well, probably around 9 because of her tendency to be late - and he spent most of that time throwing his suit off. Did he smell like he had just beaten somebody up? He didn't really have time for a shower but could give himself a quick wipedown, a whore bath of sorts.
The punch patch on his stomach was something he couldn't do anything about. He could hide it with his shirt for the time being. If things went well and there was some under the clothes type action, she'd definitely see it.
Would she care? Would she stay long enough to notice? The night would have to go either really good or really bad if it ended with him with his shirt off. In the best case scenario, they would make sweet, hot, passionate love and she'd become totally beguiled by his moves. Worst case scenario, a fire. Or a battle. Or a war. Or maybe she didn't like him that way, which would be crushing but he'd still pine from afar.
So, with the hope that he would be shirtless at some point tonight, Adrian began brainstorming excuses he could use. He'd never been a great liar but he had to try. Got headbutted by a baby goat? Nope, he doesn't look like the sort of guy who'd do well on a farm. Walked into a bookcase? Fuck, that made him look clumsy as shit (which he was) and clumsy is not sexy.
What if he told her the truth?
Would she believe him?
Three gentle knocks cut his workshopping short. Y/N was here. He took a deep breath, sprayed some cologne, and opened his front door.
"Hi."
"Hi," he said back, a crooked smile plastered onto his face. His heart was beating faster than a hummingbird. "C-come, come in."
She walked through the doorway and her eyes were immediately scanning his place as she slipped her shoes off. His apartment was mostly bare, apart from the geeky accoutrements littered here and there. There was a poster of Hellboy on the wall, his bookcase was filled with Dungeons and Dragons books - both guidebooks and the accompanying novelisations - he had multiple Critical Role figurines, and an old looking gun on a stand.
"Is that the colt from Supernatural?" Y/N asked, walking towards the revolver.
"Yup. Yeah, it is," he leaned against his desk and rested his elbow over the surface, "It's one of the ones they used in the show. I got it at an auction on eBay. Pretty awesome, huh?"
"So awesome!" She knelt down a bit to read the inscription on the gun stand and her eyes lit up a little when he casually lifted the gun up and handed it to her. Her fingers closed around it and gently touched the smooth, cold metal. "Do you like guns? Like regular ones?"
"Uh, yeah, I think they're pretty cool."
That was an understatement.
"Do you like gunslingers? Like, Dean? Or Percy de Rolo? Or Rambo, even?"
"I love Rambo!"
Something in Y/N's demeanour changed.
"What about Vigilante? Do you think he's cool?" she asked, trying not to sound too eager for the answer.
Adrian looked back at her. He felt nervous about all this before she'd asked that and now it had only increased. Y/N kept her eyes locked on Adrian, watching for any slight change in his face or body language as she twirled the gun between her hands.
"Vigilante? He's cool," Adrian replied carefully. He tried to sound nonchalant and casual like nothing happened but his voice cracked slightly upon saying his last word and he cursed himself out mentally. "Do you think Vigilante is cool?"
Y/N looked down at the gun. "Steven called me before I got here - I don't know why I picked up but I did - and he was screaming down the phone at me. He kept saying that I was such an asshole for telling Vigilante to beat him up, but I've never met Vigilante," she explained slowly, her brows furrowed a little as she frowned. "Steven was certain Vigilante said, 'You hurt Y/N, you jackass!'"
The walls felt as if they were closing in.
"Weird," Adrian commented dryly.
"Yeah, it is weird." Y/N put the colt back down on its stand. "I only told you about my breakup."
A pin drop could be heard. It was so silent for far too long. The silence was so thick that Adrian wondered whether or not time had stood still and they were frozen in the moment.
"Either you told a stranger my personal information -"
"No, no, I would never do that."
"So, if I only told you and you didn't tell anyone else..." Y/N trailed off as she got closer and closer to Adrian until he could feel the warmth of her breath on his cheeks. Her eyes flickered down to the hem of his shirt and her fingers soon followed.
Fuck. He couldn't breathe. He didn't want to breathe. His brain was going wild. His lungs couldn't keep up with its demands to keep inhaling air because every breath was so shallow. Every gasp was so sharp and desperate. Every intake was so painful. Everything was hurting. All Adrian wanted to do at that moment was run.
Run. Just fucking run.
He broke from her grasp and crossed the room. He couldn't bring himself to say anything. What was there to say? 'I put on hockey pads and beat up criminals when everyone else is sleeping'? That made him sound kinda insane.
"Adrian, I'm not going to tell anyone." She said softly, her tone completely devoid of judgement as she reached out so he'd come closer. "C'mere, please?"
Historically, he'd never been able to deny her and his streak wasn't going to end today. Though he was reluctant and slow to move, he let her take hold of his hand and was tugged closer and closer until the very tips of their socked toes were mere millimetres apart.
"You're doing good. Real good. Not that save the turtles corporate bullshit. There's a lot of bad people who slip through the cracks. And, yeah, maybe I'm not fully on board with all the murder and violence thingy going on but..." Y/N's hand came up to cradle his cheek and gently stroked it, "You help me sleep at night, did you know that? You're a good man and a great friend, so please don't pretend that you're some monster."
And with those final words, her soft lips found his and everything seemed to explode in sparks. It was like everything he'd ever imagined and more. He pulled her in by the waist as he deepened the kiss, his thumb drawing circles on her hip bone. Everything became a blur of sensation: her body, her hair, the scent of her perfume and the faint taste of cherry chapstick on her lips.
Before he knew what was happening, he'd lifted her in his arms and her legs were wrapped around his waist as he pressed her back against the nearest wall.
"I should've dumped him months ago," she muttered against his lips. Her breathing was ragged and he could feel her heart beating fast against his chest.
That sentiment was something said in his mind for the entirety of Y/N and Steve's relationship. They weren't a good fit. Literally everyone could see that. So, Adrian had to ask, "Why didn't you?" as he dragged his lips down her neck while his hand slid underneath her sweater and started roaming over the warm skin of hee lower back.
"Because..." Y/N breathed his name. "... I don't know. I genuinely don't know. He was obnoxious and lazy and I always imagined it was you whenever we got intimate -"
She stopped mid-sentence when Adrian groaned at her words. "Oh my God, that's so fucking hot," Adrian moaned, finding her pulse point and sucking directly on the skin there. She was like putty in his hands, completely unable to pull away even if she wanted to. Her eyes fluttered shut and she tilted her head back, giving him easier access to her neck.
"You wanna fuck me, yeah?" he felt the need to confirm.
Just because she was grinding herself onto him, her hips rolling off where he'd pinned her to on the wall and against Adrian's crotch, didn't necessarily mean she wanted to go all the way.
"Yeah, I wanna fuck you."
"Hell yeah, fuckin' sick."
If those hours in the gym were used to lift Y/N to his bedroom, then it was time well spent. They were a mess of tangled limbs and kisses; hands wandering freely as Adrian walked them to his room.
The bed creaked as Y/N was set down upon it, her head falling backward onto his pillow with a soft poof. Adrian climbed above her with a knee on either side of her hips.
"Hi," he beamed.
"Hi baby."
His face softened at the nickname and his lips formed into the widest smile his face was capable of, making him look as stupidly happy as he felt. With Y/N beneath him, everything just seemed perfect. Nothing was wrong with the world and the universe had agreed to give him the most almighty of wins.
He lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her deeply; tongue sweeping across her bottom lip and begging entrance without a second thought. Y/N eagerly opened her mouth for him, granting him permission as her legs widened to allow him to slot himself between them.
"Can you take this off? I wanna feel you," she urged, tugging at the bottom of his shirt. He complied, shrugging it off casually and throwing it somewhere, and was immediately bombarded with the feeling of Y/N's palm drifting down his abs. "Jesus christ! You're shredded, dude!"
Adrian got a smug little look on his face as he watched her explore every inch of his body. But, the way his eyes widened made her realise that he wasn't used to this. He wasn't used to people being nice to him and wanting to be around him. She could change that. She would change that.
"You're so hot." She ran her finger down his stomach and then along his navel, pausing momentarily to brush her fingers through his happy trail, before her hand continued its path even further down. "Do you want me to-"
"Fuck, do whatever you want to me."
Y/N could feel herself falling in love with him even more each minute. And she knew it would only get worse when undid his trousers to palm the bulge in his boxers, and he let out the most pitiful whine she'd ever heard. She laughed a little at the sound of it, kissing his bare shoulder briefly as her hand slid underneath his underwear and wrapped around him.
"Shit," he hissed, bucking up against her touch. He sounded desperate, and when she looked into his eyes, his pupils were dilated in arousal. His cheeks were splotches of red, his bottom lip hooked on his teeth, brows scrunched together, his chest moving dramatically and his gaze focused on the ceiling as he tried desperately to control himself as she jerked him off.
"Baby," she spoke lowly. "Look at me."
Slowly but surely, he tilted his head to focus on her, his green eyes meeting hers for a split second. She smiled and brought her free hand up to cup his cheek.
"Your eyes are so pretty, cowboy," Y/N cooed. "It's almost impossible for a girl to look away."
"I watch you all day," he began, his face scrunching up when he realised how stalkerish his rant had started. "I mean, whenever we're in the same room I can't help it. Part of me wants to make sure that you're safe and happy and comfortable, and the other part just can't resist. I'm a moth and you're the flame, y'know? You're bright and beautiful - you're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen - and I can't help myself."
Her hand stopped. His chest heaving for a completely different reason now.
"Do you mean that?" Y/N asked in disbelief.
The only answer Adrian could give was an exhale and a "Yeah".
That was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to her. And since it was so nice and she'd been in a relationship with a prick for so long, Y/N didn't know how to respond.
"Fuck, uh, forget I said that. I understand if -"
"Why would I want to forget?" she asked, surprising even herself with the firmness in her voice.
Adrian gave her one of those tight lipped smiles that he usually gave whenever people made fun of him at work and he just had to stand there and take it.
"You know, you're you," he eventually explained, sitting up and gesturing excitedly, his hands brushing up and down her body. Then, his voice quietened when he added, "And I'm just me."
"Adrian, 'just you' is my favourite thing in the world."
He blinked. Once. Twice. Three times. The gears in his mind were whirring furiously until his brain finally caught on to Y/N's words. In an instant, he was surging forward, kissing her hard and possessively with a vigour that left Y/N breathless. The smooch was long and hot and wonderful, and she wound her arms around his neck, holding him close as they continued to deepen their kiss.
When the need for air overwhelmed her and she had to break apart from him, they simply rested their foreheads together and giggled, both of their chests rising and falling rapidly as they struggled to catch their breaths. Adrian's thumb stroked her cheek and Y/N couldn't help but notice that he was watching her with such affection it made her heart flutter.
That's why she had no qualms urging, "Let's get naked." Adrian grinned wickedly at her suggestion, leaning down to place another searing kiss on her lips as his fingers fumbled with the zip of her trousers.
Soon, they were bare, sweating, and completely wiped out thanks to the rigorous activity they'd just participated in.
Y/N smiled crookedly at him as he flopped his weight onto her, burying his face into her neck as they got their breath back. Now things were a lot more peaceful and slower paced, Y/N could feel her phone poking into her back and wiggled it out from under her.
The pair cuddled together, neither one speaking or moving much for a few minutes. As he lay atop her, Y/N ran her hands lightly over the strong planes of Adrian's back, smiling at the soft sighs escaping from his lips.
"I gotta pee before I get a UTI." Y/N nudged Adrian's shoulder. "Where's the bathroom, cowboy?" He told her the directions and checked out her ass as she left the room.
He turned onto his back and began excitedly fist punching the air. "Fuck yeah, oh fuck yeah. Me and Y/N sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G," he began to sing to himself, unable to keep in his glee any longer. And he was still smiling at the ceiling when Y/N slid underneath the duvet beside him.
"Do you wanna watch a movie?"
"Yeah."
"Sick, lemme find my glasses."
Before he could shoot his hand out and knock his lamp off the bedside table, Y/N lifted his glasses up and delicately placed them on his nose. "There we go. How do I look? Like a sweaty pig, right?" She joked, brushing her thumb along his jawline.
"The sexiest pig I've ever seen."
"How many sexy pigs have you seen?"
"So many," he playfully replied. "Peppa Pig is my dream woman."
"Not Mrs. Piggy? She's hot as hell."
"Too high maintenance."
To further the joke, he took his finger and gently pushed the tip of her nose up so it would look more like a snout. She couldn't help but laugh. Well, she thought it was going to be a laugh, but it actually came out as a snort.
Calling the girl he was hopelessly in love with a piggy was not where he thought his night was going to go. But, that's obviously his nickname for her now.
"See? My little piggy."
She gave him a half hearted slap on the bicep then snuggled into his side as lifted his laptop from under his bed and onto his lap. Adrian picked some campy horror movie and they barely paid attention to it since they alternated between makeout sessions and bouts of playful teasing.
An hour into the movie, Y/N's phone began to blow up with notifications.
Steven: Adrian?
Steven: You fucked that guy from work?
Steven: Slut
Steven: Absolute whore
Steven: Fucking 4eyes?
Steven: You fucked him?
Steven: Him? Of all people?
Steven: You fucking piece of shit
Steven: Tell me it's a joke
Steven: You're fucking with me
Steven: Baby, I know you didn't
Y/N: did you not hear me on the voicemail?
Y/N: I thought I made it very clear that I did.
Together, they laughed at all the messages that came through. Y/N eventually blocked Steven and closed that chapter of her life forever.
"That problem is solved," she reassured with a smug smile, earning a cheek kiss from Adrian.
He played with her fingers and wrongly declared, "If you think about it, we are the perfect pair. Me being a cowboy. You, a pig."
"How so?"
"Cowboys herd pigs. Duh."
Their romantic relationship officially started in hysterical laughter since Y/N cackled at his comment, and it would continue in the exact same way. They were devoted to not only each other, but making each other laugh, and from that moment on would ensure that their romance was fun and hot and exceedingly loving.

Bridges ‧₊˚ ⋅ Drabble
ଳ you meet each other one morning on a long winding bridge ଳ character; karasu tabito (blue lock) ଳ tags; floof, gn reader, no y/n, reader is implied to be Hiori's childhood buddy, all 3 of them are friends!
[🐟]: There was a demand for Karasu fics, so I TRIED to deliver. Ngl, I'm slowly starting to see the Karasu appeal. Y'all have opened my eyes.
There was a long winding bridge in your idyllic hometown. People would take late-afternoon strolls through it with their family or pets. The breeze was always gentle and the scenery made it even better.
In the mornings, however, it was usually empty. Occasionally, one or two people would pass by, but they'd be gone as soon as they came. It's not like it's a huge bother either since the bridge was quite long. There was enough room that the awkward smile-and-wave to a random stranger in the guise of being polite was unnecessary.
You took this as an opportunity to hang out at a specific spot on the bridge to clear your head. Waking up early in the morning, you'd often find your feet dragging you to this place like clockwork.
Today was the same as every other day: the birds were chirping, the breeze flew through your hair, and the sun shone down brightly on everything beneath it. You liked this; you liked the never-changing nature of this place and your life.
You embraced familiarity with open arms.
But you should have known that today wasn't going to be the same as the others. You had only one man to blame for that and it was Karasu Tabito.
Karasu decided that it would be funny to startle you. It was deathly silence the whole time you were there so, to hear a voice out of nowhere and a finger jabbing at your shoulder would've induced a heart attack. At least that's what you told him what would've happened if you weren't as strong as you were.
"So dramatic..." he drawls out. He's got a lazy grin on his face, sleep still distinct in his eyes. They were puffy, like he had only woken up a few minutes prior.
You roll your eyes at him which earns a chuckle. He takes the spot beside you, perching his elbows on the concrete railing of the bridge. Through the corner of your eye, you see him admire the surroundings with a small smile.
"So," you start. "What are you doing here anyway?"
"Was out on a walk with Hiori. We were gon' to play football, but..."
You cock your head to look at him. "But? But what?"
"Thought I'd mess with him first and hide for a while."
An exasperated look crossed your face. Between the two of them, you were closer to Hiori. Your parents were friends and it only made sense for the two of you to be as well. In fact, the only reason you knew Karasu was because of him. You could vividly imagine what kind of reaction this little trick would elicit from the blue-haired boy.
"What a nice friend you are."
He took to your sarcasm well—like he would always do. After all, it was only fair after you had developed thick skin due to his relentless teasing (you call it bullying, but he prefers the word teasin'). And unlike, Hiori, you were unsure what kind of relationship you had with the man next to you.
You poke fun at each other like a pair of best friends that have known each other for years, but then you've only been around each other a couple of times. Most of those instances were with Hiori too.
This moment the two of you are sharing on the bridge—it was a rare one to say the least.
The fact that you've seldom spent time with him alone made you a bit nervous. A comfortable silence was a luxury not yet made available to you. The air shifted into an awkward one and neither of you knew what to say to rectify it.
"So what ha-" / "You know-"
Of course, you two had to speak at the same time. But the cherry on top was the way you two turned to look at the other person in unison. And... you two stared at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time.
"No, no, you go first," you offered so kindly—hoping that he'd carry on and forget about the earlier blunder.
He scratched the back of his neck. "I was jus' gonna ask what you've been doin' lately. Barely seen ya."
It was a normal thing to say by all means, but the last part—that's where you were hung up on. Too bad for Karasu, you had a knack for not answering his questions in favor of being obstinate.
"Why? Do you have to see me all the time?"
An all-knowing smirk slowly creeped on his face. "Nah... but that'd be nice."
Nice? What would be so nice about seeing someone who's barely your friend? Karasu didn't seem like the type to engage in exaggerated pleasantries. Pretending to be nice wasn't his thing.
If Karasu were to say anything good, it would've meant that it was true.
The breeze blew a bit more strongly this time around—blowing the stray hairs out of your face. Looking down, you realize that you had been fidgeting with your fingers. As soon as you do see it, you stop. It would be bad if he got weird ideas about you being nervous around him.
You clear your throat. "Shouldn't you go back to Hiori now?"
"Ah... well... ya makin' me leave?"
"No," you retort. "It's just... y'know? He must be looking for you still."
He lets out a soft chuckle which causes you to glance over to him. "Eh, he'll be fine. I wouldn't wan' cha to be alone here anyway."
You insist that you'd be alright. This had been your routine for several mornings now. It's highly unlikely that something bad would happen to you now. But he ignores your reasoning, clicking his tongue in annoyance to get his point across.
But neither of you would be sticking around the bridge for long.
"Karasu! You idiot!"
Both of you turned to look at where the voice was coming from. A figure stood a good distance away from where the two of you were talking. But even without seeing the person, you knew it was your mutual friend, Hiori.
He was running towards you—a pissed off expression could be clearly seen on his otherwise timid face. Of course, Karasu had the biggest grin—as if making his friend angry was a hobby of his.
One step turned into two then, three. Next thing you know, you two were running off.
"Wait... why are we running again?" you ask while trying to keep up with his pace.
His long legs paired with his athletic capability left you in the dust, but he spared you a glance and a reassuring smile. "Why're ya followin' me then?"
"I don't know!"
Laughter erupts from him as he slows down a bit to match your embarrassing pace. He grabs your hand, pulling you along with him.
"Ya better not slow me down, a'ight?"
So you ran off, giggling like maniacs, while your poor friend was left to chase the two of you.
[🐟]: Should childhood friend reader x karasu be a thing now or what.

Fic: One Foot Out the Door (Won't You Come Back Inside?) 1/2
Eh, I got a little stalled on Come Away, O Human Child and felt like writing some different flavored angst :) (Happy Ending guaranteed though!) Besides, all the cheating 'fics in the Buck/Tommy tag on AO3 made me sad this week (no hate, I just don't like infidelity stories) so I thought I'd give Tommy some angst that didn't involve him getting cheated on.
Pairing: Buck/Tommy (mentioned Buddie, but it's one-sided in this)
Being perfectly honest, Tommy had always kind of known that Eddie might eventually come between him and Evan.
The concept hadn't even really bothered him at first. Kissing Evan had been an impulse decision…he was unfairly hot and kind of adorable when he was flustered, and he said he wanted Tommy's attention. What was he supposed to do? Not take the opportunity to see if any of the (admittedly, kind of mixed) signals the kid had been throwing off would lead anywhere?
Even after their (disastrous) first date, and the (awkward) encounters at Howie and Evan's sister's wedding, he really and truly hadn't thought things with him would go anywhere serious. He liked Evan, sure. He walked that line between pretty boy and muscle man that got Tommy's motor running, they had great conversations, and (and Tommy knew this was selfish, but he'd never claimed to be completely altruistic) being with Evan brought him plenty of chances to reconnect with the 118 in ways that his text-every-once-in-while friendship with Hen and Howie just hadn't provided. Sue him—he liked Harbor just fine, but that was a job not a family and he was kind of bummed that the 118 had only become what it was now after he left.
He'd honestly thought his relationship with Evan was just going to be a fling. He'd have a nice time with a gorgeous man and maybe get the chance to resolidify his ties to the 118, and in exchange he'd give Evan the kind, gentle introduction to life as a queer man that Tommy had never really gotten. They'd have a good time for a few weeks or months and then probably part ways…hopefully amicably so Tommy could keep his friendship with Eddie and his place with the 118. In the best case scenario, he and Evan could still be friends too.
That had been the plan. That had been the logical conclusion just based on his observations of Evan and his own experience and relationships. He saw where this was going, and he was okay with that. Really, he was. Tommy had learned a long time ago that Happily Ever After was only easy to find in the movies, and even when it did show up in the real world, it wasn't people like Tommy that found it. Didn't even have anything to do with being gay. Life had taught Tommy Kinard to temper his expectations long before he'd ever realized that part of himself. So. He'd scouted the terrain, decided it was worth his time, and settled in for the perfectly predictable ride.
And then Evan had fucked it all up by making it completely, utterly impossible not to fall completely, utterly in love with him.
Evan…Evan was fucking sunshine.
Tommy had known he enjoyed talking to him…he'd been unprepared for how much he'd come to love the way Evan's brain worked. The random facts and research binges, the constant shifts in focus. Evan was so curious about anything and everything, and Tommy had grown used to the cadence of his boyfriend's voice washing over him like the waves of the ocean whenever they were together, the way Evan filled the silence of his house whenever he was there, but always let Tommy talk too, always listening attentively and engaging, even in topics that didn't really interest him.
He'd expected Evan to be a good lay. He just had that vibe about him and…look, people gossip okay? Evan's…exploits right after he joined the 118 weren't exactly discreet. He had not been expecting to discover a lover. Evan was generous in bed, adventurous and creative in ways that left Tommy a little breathless. He'd expected to have to take the lead, but apart from some understandable hesitance at the start, Evan had never been shy about…well, anything they did. He could be coy and sweet, happy to be manhandled and bossed around, to look up at Tommy through his lashes and call him Daddy in a voice that went straight to Tommy's core. But he was equally thrilled to turn the tables, be loud and demanding, pin Tommy down to the nearest surface and go to town…whatever suited their mood. God, Tommy had never had someone match him like this. Never had someone who felt like they were made to be in his arms. Never found someone who could slot so seamlessly into his life.
They had their hiccups, of course. They were both stubborn men who weren’t always great at communication. They had to learn each other's tells and signals. Evan got into his head about things, could be clingy and needful in ways that were a little foreign to Tommy at first. Tommy tended to bottle things up until they festered, could become snappish and aloof in ways that had clashed badly with Evan's abandonment issues a few times. They worked through it, though. They learned together, improved together. Tommy didn't think he was exaggerating when he said this was the healthiest relationship he'd ever had. He couldn't help the warm glow of pride the day Hen had confided in him that she thought it was Evan's healthiest relationship as well.
He loved Evan. He hadn't expected to, but looking at where they were now, it seemed inevitable.
But. He had always kind of expected Eddie to eventually come between them.
Tommy wasn't an idiot. He wasn't unobservant. It took him approximately zero point five seconds past meeting them to clock the weirdly intense energy between Evan and Eddie. Tommy was no stranger to the kind of bonds their line of work tended to inspire. He was ex-military and a first responder…he knew you didn't rush into life-threatening situations with someone and have a normal friendship with them. Whatever was between Evan and Eddie wasn't that.
They were entrenched in each other's lives. Damn near inseparable. Tommy had seen plenty of guys become unofficial family, plenty of guys who stepped in as uncles and godfathers for their squadmates’ kids. But Evan was effectively Eddie's co-parent. Christopher's other father. Eddie clearly relied on Evan for emotional needs that a partner (a life partner, not just a work partner) should fulfill, and Evan did the same.
He'd be lying if he said it wasn't a little off-putting for someone who wanted to date one of them. But he liked Eddie a lot, and Evan was so damn gorgeous…and he really wasn't expecting it to get serious. Their connection read to him as intimate, but not sexual–even if he privately thought that was mostly because Evan could be charmingly oblivious and Eddie was deep in the kind of denial that only intense therapy and self-reflection could break through–and so he decided to risk it.
In a way, he thought that he had it easier as Evan's partner than anyone who tried to date Eddie would ever have it. He understood Eddie and Christopher’s place in Evan's life, cared about them both, and was perfectly content being a “trusted adult” rather than any kind of parental figure in Christopher's life. And it wasn't like Evan was Chris's primary parent. Evan just had more room for a partner in his life and his heart than Eddie did.
To be completely fair to Evan, Tommy didn't think he was a replacement or a substitution. He knew Evan loved him. Just…he had never been able to shake the feeling that he wouldn't have been his boyfriend's first choice. And if Eddie ever figured himself out, ever got to a place where he was comfortable offering Evan a choice, Evan would take it.
It wasn't something he dwelled on. Not something he spent all his time waiting for. But it hovered on the peripheral of his growing feelings for Evan, snuck in haunt him at odd times, a darkness that never overshadowed their love, but never dissipated either. He thought he had it handled. He really did.
*
“So,” Karen drawled, flopping down in the lounge chair beside him with a glass of wine and a slice of the (very excellent) cherry pie Buck had made for the gathering. Tommy was considering going to get another slice himself…he loved Evan's dedication to his fitness routines, certainly had no complaints about the results, but he did enjoy it when his boyfriend took breaks from his more restrictive nutrition regimes.
“So?” he repeated with a raised eyebrow, well used to the roadmap Mrs. Wilson (both of them) tended to follow with serious conversations. And judging by the tilt of Karen's mouth, this was going to be a serious conversation.
“How are things? Haven't seen you in a while,” Karen replied, taking a sip of her wine.
It was true. Tommy hadn't been able to attend the last few get-togethers at Bobby and Athena's new place for work-related reasons (wildfire season was the worst no matter how you sliced it, but it was especially shitty for air support), and his and Evan's schedules had been lining up infrequently enough the last few weeks that when they did have time off together, they mostly spent it in bed rather than socializing.
“Going great,” he said, settling more comfortably in his chair to watch Evan swing Jee-Yun up onto his shoulders and start galloping around the yard while she shrieked in delight. He didn't even try to hide the dopey smile he knew was spreading across his face. It wasn't like their friends weren't aware of how smitten he was with his boyfriend.
“Did you and Buck have a good time up in San Diego? I had to work late the night Buck came over for dinner. Missed the pictures.”
The smile widened, a warm flush flooding his chest at the thought of the trip he and Evan had taken just last month. An anniversary trip. Their one year anniversary (okay, more like fifteen month, because wrangling PTO from two separate stations was a bitch), a milestone Tommy had only made it to a handful of times, and never since coming out. It wasn't anything extravagant or fancy. They hadn't even flown, preferring to drive up the coast and stay for the weekend in a charming bed and breakfast Evan had found online. They'd gone sightseeing, eaten entirely too much “viral” food Evan found on TikTok (a surprising amount of which had actually been worth the hype), and filled their nights with the kind of unhurried, earth-shatteringly intimate lovemaking Tommy thought existed only in romance novels.
“We had an amazing time,” he gushed. As if drawn by a magnet, his eyes found Evan again, watching his boyfriend fondly as he tossed his niece in the air a few times before spinning her around and dramatically pretending to ‘drop’ her, only to catch her and resume tossing her high.
Karen nodded to herself, smiling gently. “Gotta say, you really messed up a few betting pools. Romantic getaway, one year anniversary…we were pretty sure you’d come back with some kind of announcement,” she said, wagging her eyebrows significantly.
He froze a bare second, but his wits rarely let him down. He smirked at her, and rubbed his belly. “Sorry, nobody's pregnant. I've just packed on a few pounds. Evan's a damn good cook, you know? Although I did notice Athena's not drinking tonight…”
Karen leveled him with a look. “I dare you to go say that in earshot of her,” she said dryly.
“Oh God, do I really look that stupid to you?”
“Kinard.”
“What?” He held his pretended ignorance for a few more seconds before cracking.
“Not to be all stereotypical on main, but showing up to the second date with an engagement ring and a UHaul is more your tribe's deal, Mrs. Wilson. It's only been a year.”
“Hey!” She balanced her plate of pie on her lap and reached over to smack him lightly on the bicep. “And no, it's not like we expected you two to come back engaged–”
“What'd Howie have the odds at?”
Karen waved a dismissive hand. “Seventy-five to one, but that's beside the point. You two have been solid. I've never seen Buck this happy, and you seem pretty content yourself. But you're not even talking about taking next steps? Moving in together? Getting a dog? Something?”
For the second time that evening, Tommy froze. He knew he was staring at Karen like a deer in headlights, knew he was giving away far too much in his expression. His brain ticked over a few times, like an old engine trying to cough to life on a cold day. Shit. Shit, shit, shit. He and Karen were friends, he liked her a lot…but they weren't this kind of friends. They weren't confidants like this. Unless…
“Did Evan say something?” he sputtered finally.
Karen took a contemplative sip of her wine, watching him with sharp, assessing eyes. Fuck, he'd prefer getting grilled like this by Hen. She was scarier, and fiercely protective of Evan, but also a little less surgically insightful in her observations.
“Hen brought it up last week,” she admitted after a moment, with a slight wince. “She was teasing him, since she knows his lease is up in a couple months. Buck…spiraled a little.”
And damn it. Damn it. He'd known about the lease, of course. Evan had mentioned it in passing a couple of times. But not in a way that had any weight of expectation…not in a way that made Tommy think he was hinting at anything. Fuck.
Karen narrowed her eyes at him, brow furrowing a little. “I mean--it’s not a big deal. Stereotypes aside, a year really isn't that long in the grand scheme of things. Buck's not expecting you to ask to move in together. I think it was more that you two haven't talked about the future at all. Which, again, everyone has their own timeline, but just in case you were waiting on him to bring it up, it's gonna have to be you. Buck's too gun-shy.”
Tommy couldn't help grimacing at the words. Yeah. That tracked. He knew all about Evan's previous girlfriends, and the couple times he'd ended up cohabitating. Of course Evan would be wary of even broaching the subject. Goddamn it.
“Hey,” Karen said suddenly, her voice going a bit quieter. “Tommy, I was just curious. Maybe a little worried. You two have seemed really happy….”
Tommy shook his head, sighing. “We are. Yeah, no, we are. I should've figured he was…I just should've noticed.”
Karen seemed to be realizing she had stumbled onto a larger issue than she initially thought. The wineglass joined the pie plate on the grass and she scooted her chair a little closer to his, turning her whole body towards him. “Okay, I feel like I'm missing some context here. What's going on?”
Such an easy question. One he even knew the answer to.
He wanted to take the next step with Evan, was the thing. Fuck, if he was honest with himself, he'd been wanting to take the next steps for a while now. Moving in together. Joining finances. Getting a goddamn dog.
Little pieces of Evan had been finding their way into his place for months, now. His toothbrush and preferred shower products in the bathroom. His spare clothes in the bottom drawer of Tommy’s dresser. His weird-ass organic oat milk and protein powder in the kitchen. Small little pieces and Tommy wanted more. Wanted it all. They'd been together for almost a year and a half. Karen was right, if Tommy saw a future with Evan it was well past time to start the discussion. The way they'd been going, their anniversary trip would have been the perfect time to bring it up, to ask Evan to just give up the loft and come stay, come be with Tommy all the time.
He could see a future with Evan. He could see everything with Evan. Rings. Vacations. Pets. Fuck, Evan had him thinking about kids and he'd never thought that was something he wanted. He could see it, though. He could see them growing old and gray together. So what was the hold up?
A loud burst of laughter startled him, and he looked over to find Eddie had stolen Jee from Evan and was spinning around and around while she shrieked for him to go faster. Evan was perched on the arm of Christopher’s lounge chair, watching the scene with a soft smile as he draped his arm around the boy's shoulders.
Yeah. That was the hold up.
Something must have shown on his face, because Karen followed his line of sight. He averted his eyes when she looked back at him.
“Tommy,” she started, but he just shook his head.
It wasn't like he hadn't known going in that Evan's place in Eddie's and Christopher's lives (and theirs in his) was…a lot. Probably more than a lot of people would be willing to put up with. He cared about the Diaz boys too, though, and again…he hadn't been expecting to love Evan so damn much. And really? It had been fine. A little awkward at first, but he liked to think that they'd all learned to walk a line that let all of them get what they needed out of the relationships. It had been fine.
Then Eddie started getting more serious about therapy. Not that he hadn't been before. After the…situation…that had resulted in Chris going to spend the summer with Eddie's parents, he'd started seeing one of the department counselors again. But eventually he'd moved on to more intensive therapy–sought out more specialized treatment. Tommy had actually been the one to put him in touch with a veterans’ group some of his friends from the service attended, and through them, Eddie had found a therapist he really clicked with. Someone who worked with combat veterans exclusively, saw PTSD every day.
It had been great. Even knowing him for a relatively short time, Tommy could see how much stronger he was. How much more settled and sure of himself.
How much he was realizing about himself.
Tommy wasn't going to say anything. He wasn't going to bring it up until Eddie did, knew intimately how difficult it was for you to admit something like that to yourself and live honestly…especially for guys like them, however unfair that was. He'd supported his friend, he and Evan both had, but privately he thought it was kind of a tossup if Eddie would ever let himself finish that journey.
It was fine. It was all fine.
Eddie was getting braver, though. Tommy could see it. Could see him settling further and further into his own skin, getting closer and closer to being able to be who he was meant to be. It was wonderful, and awful at the same time. Wonderful because Eddie was his friend who he cared about, and no one deserved to have to live a lie. That kind of denial festered inside you. It poisoned you from the inside out. Eddie was a good man. A good friend. Tommy was glad it looked like he'd be able to lance that wound and drain the poison.
It was awful because Tommy wasn't an idiot. And he could see the way Eddie looked at Evan.
He'd always kind of thought Eddie might come between them eventually.
“Look, I love Evan. I really do. I want a life with him. But–” he gestured towards the charming tableau: Evan with his arm around what was for all intents and purposes his and Eddie's kid, while Eddie played with Evan's niece. He shrugged at Karen, twisting in his seat a little so he wasn't facing his boyfriend and the man who was also in love with his boyfriend, and who had a connection to his boyfriend that Tommy deep down didn't think he could compete with. “Writing on the wall's a little obvious, isn't it? Sue me, I'm kind of hoping to at least keep my dignity when he…” He broke off, gritting his teeth so hard he felt the muscle in his jaw jump. “When he moves on,” he finished, as steadily as he could. Fuck. He'd never said it out loud before. It fucking hurt.
“What?”
He hadn't heard Evan approaching them. Neither had Karen, judging by the way her eyes widened. Slowly, agonizingly, Tommy turned in his seat to find his boyfriend staring at him with the most hurt, betrayed expression he'd ever seen on Evan's face.
He'd always kind of thought Eddie might eventually come between them.
But not like this.

Hello!! It's been a while since we read an HDC of Joel being a daddy. Imagine that reader has to go out to do some things and Joel stays at home with Sammy and it starts to rain very hard causing lightning and the little one gets very scared. Joel picks him up and cuddle him, rocking him to calm him down. Joel used to be sweeter to Sarah when she was little, he used to pamper his babygirl until she fell asleep, and now that he was spending time with Sammy he wanted to be the same with him so he comforted him and rubbed his little back and rubbed his little boy's hair, while the record player in the background plays. "Beautiful boy (Darling boy) by John Lennon".
Joel had nothing against being an affectionate man with a little boy, so to him he was his baby and he protected him when the lightning scared him and the power went out.
Take your time sweethearth ✨ I hope you're fine and happy. I love you so much! 💕💕💕

No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
A/N: I love this idea very much bestie and the fact you sent me it while it was storming here made it even more special ❤️
• you and Joel hated when you had a weekend shift, but it was something eventually either of you had to face it, and that weekend, it was your turn, there was no other way
• Sammy also didn't like it, happiness to him was when both mommy and daddy were there with him to play and have fun, so he also had a cute pout on his lips - the same one Joel had and swore he didn't - when you said goodbye to them
• the heat that week was excruciating, high temperatures every single day, which was an indicator a storm could come at any moment
• and you and Joel were already concerned because you knew how scared of storms Sammy was, and it pained the two of you to see your precious baby boy so terrified of something simple
• you left Joel some instructions but it wasn't necessary at all, as your husband was so good to handle everything, including your son, he had a way of making everything alright again
• you pecked Joel's lips and hugged Sammy tight and went to work, and after that, the day went alright between father and son, Joel and Sammy played together, then he took a nap while Joel did some chores
• but it was when Joel was working in the backyard and the sky got darker while the first thunders were heard that Sammy jumped off bed scared and ran to his daddy
• he didn't know why he didn't like storms, but the day would always get so dark and the thunders were too loud for his little ears, the wind made the trees look so scary and he always needed his mommy and daddy with him
• when Joel felt small arms wrapping around his legs, he knew his son was scared; he lifted him up and carried him towards the house
"it's okay buddy, let's get inside"
• Joel said in his soothing voice just as a thunder roared in the sky which caused Sammy to hide his face in the crook of his daddy's neck
• he closed the door behind them and walked to the living room, in hopes of turning on the tv and finding a very colorful cartoon that would keep his son's attention, but much to his dismay, he noticed then they'd run out of power
• as the skies darkened and Joel couldn't turn on the lights, he suggested Sammy to have a nap together, which his son nodded and it broke Joel's heart to see the fear in his innocent face, so he decided to do the best he could in order to calm him down
• Sammy was the kind of kid to cling tighter than glue to him or you in case of fear, so he knew trying to cook him something was out of the picture, just like you, your son only worked with cuddles, which was adorable in Joel's opinion
• so he decided that maybe some music would distract his son from the loud noises of rain and going to his old record player, he decided to put on something to help them go through that
• as father and son sat on the couch, Sammy was all curled up to his daddy, almost like a tiny kitten would, so he couldn't resist pulling him closer, resting him against his chest just as when Sammy was a little baby
• his big hands ran up and down his small back, in a soothing caress, Joel's lips pecked the top of his son's head, feeling how soft his hair was especially now it was starting to curl like his own
• he cuddled Sammy, remembering how he used to do the same with Sarah when she was little, now his beautiful little girl was a beautiful woman and it both pained and excited him to know it would be just a matter of time until she turned him into a grandpa
• but he would always miss his little girl
• and that was why he made sure he would always be around for his little boy, because kids grew up so fast and before he could tell his baby became a toddler and that toddler needed him
• as his hands ran through Sammy's curls, he took a peek at his son's face and saw how hard he was fighting sleep; his daddy's presence was everything he needed
• when the storm finally passed and the sun shone in the sky again, he looked at his precious sleeping Sammy and sighed; he hated to see how bad storms made his son feel, but at the same time it comforted Joel to know Sammy would always look for his daddy for help
• Joel loved his son more than he could even describe and he hoped they would still have many moments like those ahead, where he would be able to fit him in an embrace and cuddle him until he was alright

Ok one more update from a shark in the water? Please???
Here’s the first 1k(roughly)! Keep in mind I haven’t edited and I had like. A three-month long writers block for this fic so I’m not super attached/happy with this intro— it may change when I go back next weekend!
Hopefully it’s enough to wet your appetite tho ;)
—
Stiles had friends.
Lydia was his friend. Erica. Danny and Kira danced the line between acquaintance and actual friendship, but gun to his head, Stiles would count them as the latter. And Scott. God knows they'd been inseperable for over a decade.
It's just—
Stiles didn’t text his friends the way he texted Derek.
Or as often.
It wasn’t anything serious. Just lots of little, trivial things: pictures here and there, Stiles blinking doe eyes at the camera, biting his lip. He texted Derek about his annoying professor, the chronological order of the Marvel movies, his attempts at latte foam art. Stiles rambled and vented and altogether talked too much, but—
Derek always answered.
Even if it was a simple, one-word reply. Even if sometimes it took a couple hours. Stiles wasn’t sure he’d have been able to stop even if he didn’t; every little thing that popped into his head came with the companion thought of, oh! I wonder what Derek would think about this!
ive never seen you play a video game, he texted on Thursday evening.
I don’t. What are you playing?
COD
with scott
R u home?
At the gym.
Stiles had figured as much, but he still caught himself sighing. They were in the Hale-McCall living room, playing on Scott’s family Xbox, both sore and tired from their shifts at work. From his spot on the couch, Stiles could hear Peter humming in the kitchen, most likely prepping for dinner. Melissa was still at work.
And Derek was at the gym. Snooze.
how much can u lift? Stiles texted, before his character on screen ran into a wall and he had to put his phone down. Scott side-eyed him, hard.
Stiles caught the tail-end of Scott taking incoming fire before his phone buzzed again. He looked back down.
I can lift double your weight, easy, Derek had typed, cutting to the heart of the matter.
Stiles pinkened.
for how long?
For as long as it takes. Derek replied. it’s your endurance we need to work on, if anything.
Stiles could taste the sharp edge of Derek’s condescension on his tongue. Something inside him went molten-hot, liquified, like the liquid wax of a burning candle.
maybe you should take me to the gym with you, he typed, squirming at just the thought of it. Derek all sweaty, the graceful arch of spine, muscles flexing as he lifts himself. we could be workout buddies.
Would you wear leggings?
Stiles readjusted on the couch, his leg coming up against his chest.
in public? no.
but I could sit on you.
on your back. while you do push ups
A bit too daring. Stiles bit his lip when Derek didn’t respond. He focused back on the game, hoping to distract himself.
It didn’t help much.
Scott huffed, throwing down his remote when they both died.
“What is with you, man?”
“What do you mean?” Stiles said, peeking at his phone again. No new messages.
“I mean, you’re not even watching where you’re going. You just got us both killed!”
”I’m just—“ Stiles felt unreasonably grumpy. “Bored. Can’t we play something else?”
“Like what?”
Like Mario Kart, per Stiles’ suggestion. The best part about Mario Kart was that Scott was—
“Awful, man. Just terrible,” Stiles laughed as Scott swerved off the road, twisting his remote uselessly, as if that were going to do anything while he wasn’t holding down the gas. “Honestly, it’s embarrassing to watch. You should just stop. You’re bringing shame to your family name.”
“I used to beat you at every game!”
“Yeah, in like seventh grade.” Stiles shook his head. “How’s it feel, Scott? To have peaked in middle school?”
“I haven’t peaked, I’m just—“ Scott threw down the controller as the track completed, screen flashing the stats. Scott in tenth place, Stiles in first. Just like the last time. And the time before that. “Out of practice. God, screw this. I want to play Skyrim.”
“Skyrim is god-awful on the Switch.”
“Well, then, I’ll bring the PS4 down here.”
“But it’s single player,” Stiles scrunched up his nose. “I’m not going to just sit here like your girlfriend and pretend watching you play video games is interesting.”
Scott looked offended. “Allison isn’t pretending. She said she loves watching me play.”
Right.
“Sure she does.” Stiles rolled his eyes. "We can just put on a horror movie or something, play fuck, marry, kill." A weird little tradition of theirs, any time they break out the b-rate horror films.
"Which one do you wanna watch?"
Stiles shrugged, "You pick."
He checked his phone again. Sighed for the millionth time.
Scott noticed.
“Who are you texting?”
Fuck.
”No one important,” Stiles said quickly, and put his phone face down on the side table.
Scott stared at it. “Is that a new phone?”
”What? No.”
”It’s pink," Scott pointed out. "Your phone's not pink.”
Stiles really needed to get a case for the thing. “Okay,” he conceded. “It’s a new phone. I splurged.”
The reaction was immediate.
”Stiles! We’re supposed to be saving up for an apartment!” Scott shook his head. “You’ve got to stop spending money, dude.”
Scott was definitely right about that. Stiles might not have bought the phone, but he'd hardly saved a dime since he’d started his job. He’d been too busy buying— well. You know.
As if summoned by the thought of his underwear alone, Stiles' phone (finally, finally) buzzed. Stiles had moved before his brain had fully processed the sound, snatching his phone up from the table on reflex.
Stay put. I’ll be there in 10.
Stiles’ cheeks darkened to a fire-engine red. Uh-oh.
#siyw#am open to suggestions!! especially that first 300 words or so#I’ve written this beginning so many times I ended up just leaving it the way it is to finish the actual meat of the story#sterek

i wonder what I could be working on now...
"Morning, Appa!" Aang said- then quieted his voice to a whisper. "Don't tell the others, but I saved you the best apple, buddy." The sky bison rumbled, giving him a big lick with his tongue that was practically full body. Aang just laughed, handing Appa the apple. He bit into it with one big crunch, then swallowed. Aang dropped fresh hay into his trough and stepped back, looking up at Appa. He was the biggest one in the whole herd. They'd gotten smaller over generations, his grandmother had said- probably had something to do with being raised underground. It had been a concern for years, Aang knew- but when Appa was born and had grown so large, so fast, it had alleviated them. The villagers had taken it as a good omen. All Aang knew was that Appa was his best friend. (He wouldn't tell Tansu that.) "Everybody finish eating?" Aang asked. The sky bison rumbled as one. Yep. Guess they had. "Okay," Aang took in and let out a deep breath, "-this time for sure." He took a few steps back, so that he was at the very end of the barn. Taking in and letting out a few more breaths, Aang shifted on his feet and let out a rush of air. The goal was to push the gates to their stalls open all at once, but- "Monkeyfeathers," Aang stomped his foot, "-it's always the one at the end!"
#avatar zuko au#i went back and forth as to what the first thing I wrote for this AU would be but the classic 'x character finds the avatar' approach won#especially since. you know. the one doing the avatar finding in this AU is *aang*

Incel, femcel, or themcel. We just need a greasy, chronically online mean person to be a yandere. Any ideas on how that would work?
(The best idea I could come up with is streamer reader)
Livestream began twelve minutes ago.
"Oh? Shit, is that V? What's up, buddy- welcome back."
You're so perfect. Near a quarter of an hour late, and you still grace them with a greeting. They knew you weren't like the others they wasted their time on. No, you're kind. Inviting. God they loved you so much.
V stumbled across your channel on night during a drunken relapse into pouring their hours into viewing the lives of random strangers online. It was all they had to do after work with none of the potential partners they messaged ever responding to their texts or calls. Their lost.
You were in the beginning period of streaming with only ten followers to your name; majority likely close friends and family. V planned on giving "light" critic of your performance, but something about the brightness in your eyes as they joined the stream sobered them up and glued them to their seat completely.
"Hi, welcome. Your name is actually too long to fix on the screen. Is it cool if I just call you V?"
And they were hooked on you ever since.
Little by little, your fanbase grew to the comfortable size it was today; your first real viewer front and center for each recording. Despite the boost in popularity, you never forgot those who gave it to you in the first place. V likes to think they're the most valued member with their donations and the equipment they sent once they had convinced you to open a p.o box. Shame they never pin pointed the location before you announced your move and had it closed.
"Since you're here. I can try on that jacket you sent me before I finish packing. It's so cute."
V wipes specks of drool off their screen as you sort through a cardboard box and slip the coat on. You were wearing something they touched. Fuck, you're so cute they could just devour you alive. With no roomates, they could get away with licking their phone unlike last time, but they refrained from said temptation for now. Cat ears sprout atop your head as you pull the hoodie on. You rub your shoulders as the jacket's interior snuggles your frame.
"Whoa, much warmer than I expected. I might wear it during my flight."
You better. Since you forced the thought into their head, if they see you with anything else in your photos they might blow a gasket. Just imagining random commentors wondering where you got the coat and you answering with a nod at their existence gave V the ego boost of a lifetime.
"It's getting kinda late. We'll do some more chatting then I gotta bounce for the night."
V watches the rest of your stream with the loudest voice of the crowd. They wait until it ends to begin their nightly routine of screenshotting their favorite moments of the stream. The highlight was a frame of you posing like a cat following another's chatters request. Having so many pests ruined some of their enjoyment, but times like this they'd let slide. For now.

V sits alone at the bus stop the following day. The prized picture taken previously was now their lockscreen photo. The fifth change in the last two days. A creature like you was bound to have unworthy trash throwing themselves at your feet daily, but they knew that with your history it would only take one hello for you to fall as madly in love with them as they were you. You're different like that. If only they could meet you.
V is pulled from their moment of bliss by a tap on their shoulder; scowl ready for whoever dragged them from heaven - until they see whose standing in front of them.
"Hi, I hope I'm not bothering you, but do you know if this bus goes to this street? My taxi didn't drive out that far apparently...."
The stranger blinks, cat ears shifting.
"Sorry- have we met before? You seem familiar. "

hey hi hey! do you perhaps have cniki/ceret/cwilbur hcs? any of them r fine and if you dont thats okay bye!!!
I don't have much c!niki knowledge I'm afraid however I will give what little hcs I have (also credit to my buddy @cinn-namon for half of these Eret HCs, if you want more feel free to mug him /hj)
Wilbur
- Prone to singing or humming whenever given the chance, when there's an audience he puts So Much Effort into it but he'll do it when he's alone aswell - Her first instinct in most situations is to laugh, she doesn't mean to but it just sorta slips out regardless of the circumstances - By far my wildest Wilbur hc: Wilbur is a nature spirit- my basis for this is mostly Greek mythology. In Greek mythology it's common for the children of gods and immortals to be some sort of nymph or dryad (basically a nature spirit) and the concept of nature spirits is a really vast one that can range from "pretty lady found in Trees" (Dryad) or "Unidentified mystical energy" for my HCs I tend to use more of the ladder. So Wilbur is a physical manifestation of the wilds, basically a shapeshifter but add a connection to the world itself. In theory he has no "true" form but the form he took when he was born was just a straight up fox (later learned how to shift into a more humanoid form as he grew) - More thoughts on nature spirit Wilbur ahead: how she appears and how well she can hold her form is entirely dependent on her current state, because of this she changed a lot between L'manburg and Pogtopia :3 When she first came to the SMP she looked almost entirely human, save for a few "off" traits (strange eyes, fangs, slightly pointed ears, ect.) but when Pogtopia hit she changed rather suddenly, becoming more like Fundy in appearance. Ghostbur was just a straight up spectral fox, and post revival Wilbur always has a few fox-like traits showing that she can't seem to get rid of - All of their mannerisms are slightly off- they don't quite emote "right". When they're fully human they come off as oddly animalistic, when they're more animal-like they're weirdly human. They tried to play themselves off as at least Mostly human for awhile but gave up pretty quickly - Has no fucking clue what his species is because of the samsung smart fridge nonsense- honestly he just assumes that he was Born Weird. When asked he's always weirdly cryptic about it - God awful cook, y'know those posts about people fucking up their food in unbelievable ways? That's Wilbur. Do not let her into the kitchen she will burn water - Disaster bi, seemingly most attracted to people who are either actively against her or have done shitty things to her in the past and she Cannot be normal about it (See: all of the shit said about Schlatt, Eret, Quackity, the list goes on) - Touchy but only when they're in a good mood. L'manburg era they'd always be putting an an arm around someone's shoulder or ruffling people's hair, small acts of physical affection, but any other time they've actively shied away from touch unless it's initiated by them. This is mostly because they're easily overstimulated by touch (despite being incredibly touch starved post revival)
Eret
- Wither hybrid, they can shift to hide some of their wither parts. When they were apart of L'manburg they also played themselves off as human - Loves to bake and stress bakes when especially stressed out- I like to think her and Niki would often bake together - Looking directly into his eyes activates a person's flight or fight response, which is why so many people have gotten Jumpscared by his eyes in the past - Probably has one of the best fashion senses in the entire SMP and yet only really dresses up whenever someone is coming over (90% of the time she just lounges about in comfy clothes, we love a comfy queen) - His memory is absolutely god awful so he's prone to writing things down or- more often- taking photos. A lot of the pictures from early L'manburg were taken by him - The L'manburg uniforms were made with Tommy and Eret's combined efforts (Wilbur supervised and occasionally stabbed himself trying to help <3) - Sews all of their own clothes, they'd love to sew for someone else but they haven't gotten the chance to outside of the uniforms (if they did they'd probably make an entire wardrobe though) - She's the one that taught Tommy to sew :3
Niki
- Catgirl c!niki supremacy - She likes churus (the cat treat) and will eat them like gogurt - Being as close to Wilbur as she was she's absolutely heard way too much about all of Wilbur's awful crushes on their enemies (she can never look at Eret the same way again) - She has autistic girl swagger idk what it is but she just does. Has the most unsettling stare known to man (by complete accident) - Despite being a cat hybrid she enjoys playing around in local bodies of water, big fan of stomping around in rivers
#romeos ramblings#c!wilbur#c!eret#c!niki#dsmp headcanon#so sorry for the long ass post i'm so full of thoughts#and doubly sorry for the wait! i was a bit busy yesterday#this isn't even the full extent of my cwil headcanons i have so many#i could write essays about nature spirit wilbur the concept is so fun to me#all c!niki hcs are based on vibes i'm so sorry i need to Investigate her character more

Headcanons ~
Modern AU - How they'd react to seeing you working in a strip club (And they have feelings for you)
Inspired by... well me being an ex-stripper :')
Written as if reader is working there just for some extra cash, not as a living - it'll make sense why I noted this as it goes on.
Reiner - Porco - Eren - Levi
Some music to set the mood 🔥
Reiner
Reiner would never wander into a strip club on his own accord, either being dragged in during a bachelor party or doesn't realise what the establishment actually is. As much as he appreciates the female form, Reiner is too respectful and too much of a softy and a blushing mess.
Get this man some water please, for pity's sake. His face is flushed the entire time he's in there, his eye-line erratic as he avoids sights of thighs, asses, boobs and bare stomachs.
When the dancers come to talk to him for a private dance, he'll politely turn them down, his eyes glueing to theirs, his mouth dry and - oh gosh is he shaking?
He doesn't know it's you being called on stage because well, they use your stage name. But when the lights brighten slightly and he sees you - legit thinks he's been spiked for a moment and is seeing things.
His movements all stop, his lips part and his eyes enlarge when he realises this is actually happening.
"Oh, you like her?" The other girls will say. "She's great, you should get a dance from her."
Excuses himself and heads into the bathroom while you're on stage, splashing his face with cold water. Other patrons in the toilets laugh at him. "Yeah, it's tough out there, huh buddy?"
Once he hears applause he knows you're done and swiftly leaves. This is what gives him the incentive to confess his feelings for you and try to convince you to leave.
I know if Reiner Braun told me he loved me, I'd leave and never look back.
Porco
Porco loves to talk big and will laugh and "banter" with the "lads" but under the surface, he's a lot like Reiner and is pretty shy (at first) when it comes to intimacy.
He's respectful and will enjoy the attention of the dancers but I can't see him ever getting a private dance, if I'm honest.
He avoids his gaze like Reiner but isn't having mini panic attacks about it like his blonde friend.
When he sees you, he freezes and his nose burns pink but quickly regains his composure. He'll walk up to you and tell you to get changed, he's taking you home.
He hasn't drunk too much so he's okay to drive as he takes you towards his house.
"Porco, where are we -" "You should have just told me if you wanted some money." "It's not like that, I can make my own mon-" "We'll talk about it later."
You'll go to his where you have a long conversation into the night, where he admits his feelings for you and fucks you into his bed.
Oh god, I might turn this one into a fic...
Eren
I can't see Eren actively seeking out a "gentleman's" club, but he's not fussed about being in one either.
He turns down private dances politely. He'll have friendly conversations with the dancers but if they keep pushing for money he will turn mean.
He will get a dance if he is totalled though, but he'll sit with a blank face the entire time - unless he was my boyfriend, I don't think I would wanna dance for Eren tbh :')
Has no problem approaching you with a smirk when he sees you. "Woah, I didn't know you worked here. I'd be in every night."
Pays you to talk with him all night (he insists) to keep other men away from you and to warm you up for his confessions of feelings later. If any man stares, he'll shoot a warning look. If anyone is disrespectful, he will throw hands.
He stops drinking so he can take you home after your shift. He takes you to his, confesses his feelings, convinces you to stop and gives you the best sex of your life until you can no longer walk.
Levi
There's no way Levi would knowingly go into a club. Let alone a nude one. He's either been tricked or he wasn't aware. "Little black book...? I thought this was a fuckin' Library." "Levi... what library is open at 2am with thumping music?!"
Is not amused. DO NOT try to get a private dance. Oh god, he will make you cry if you try to.
Once he sees you, he'll snarl and straight up grab you and tell you to get changed, he's taking you home.
You have to beg the bouncers not to all leap onto him.
Scolds you, so bad. But explains it's only because he cares. It's not the profession it's the people it attracts.
Again, best sex of your life.

[ comfort ] for Olive (for the kiss prompts), please.
(I really enjoy reading your MOTA stories, BTW!)
hi, nonnie! thanks so much for the request (prompt list here! inbox is open) and your sweet words!
As soon as the Red Cross Girls had heard Colonel Harding - Chicky, as they liked to playfully call him - murmur to Red over their morning coffee that “the time is almost upon us,” they knew they'd be in for a rough week. It was as if the mood on base had shifted, the girls feeling like they were walking through clouds of tension every moment they were around the men.
It's Saturday morning, a day off for the girls, which they'd usually spend walking around the village for a change of scenery. Helen would then retire to the hut, writing to her mom and other family members while Val and Olive would go visit their men, if only to bring them a coffee and a sweet nothing whispered in their ear to pass the time. On this particular Saturday, they're holed up in their offices, the air stuffy from constant cigarette smoke plumes that clouded both offices - a sure sign Ev and Dougie were present, the pair of them taking to chain smoking through the long hours crouched over paperwork, sat in an uncomfortable wooden chair, planning for the biggest mission of all: the invasion of Europe.
Val and Olive wave Helen off with a friendly kiss on the cheek, they both pour a coffee and grab a candy bar from the Clubmobile for the fellas before making their way to their offices. They split off with a wink; Ev sharing an office with Rosie and Dougie sharing his with Croz. Ev had basked in the decision, telling Val and Olive as much in a hushed voice in the club one evening.
“I definitely lucked out with Rosie as an office mate. He's great, so level headed and together. Unlike our nervous buddy over there,” he pauses, nodding towards Crosby who was downing whiskey like it was going out of style. “He's all over the place.”
That much is proven the second Olive walks into the office, wafting Lucky Strike smoke from her face as she enters. She places the first coffee and Hershey bar on Harry's desk, the anxiety wreaking havoc on him as he hunches over the phone, speaking in hushed tones.
The second, she places in front of Dougie, wrapping her arm around his shoulders.
“Hey, sugar,” she says.
“Hi,” he croaks out, not looking up from the mound of paperwork stacked on his desk. There's a moment of awkward silence, the tension rising in the air as Olive clears her throat.
“So,” she starts again. “It's Saturday! Shall we go for dinner with the Blakely's? Maybe stay the night and have a cuddle?”
“Not tonight, Olive. Busy,” he sighs, him using her whole name causing her breath to stutter a little. Her heart starts pounding so loud that she can feel it in her eardrums, her hands beginning to get clammy. She casts her mind back to the last few days, recounting every interaction and wondering if there was one that irked him, one that maybe had pissed him off. She comes up empty, her mind racing at thousands of miles an hour.
“O-okay,” she says, trying to take a deep breath and feign togetherness. “So, just a drink at the bar–”
“I said I'm busy, okay?”
Olive takes a step back, surprised at his tone. The step back is almost muscle movement, knowing it's best to protect herself when a man gets angry. She'd been on the other end of Kyle's rants too many times to understand that.
“Are you mad at me?” she squeaks, her eyes involuntarily filling up with tears.
“For fuck sake, no, I'm not mad at you,” he replies, finally looking up from his desk, his body turning in Croz's direction. “Crosby, quit whispering into that damn phone and go to bed!” Forehead now leaning on his hand, he goes back to what he was reading moments before, mumbling to himself as he turns the page over. “What the hell is a Subaltern anyway?”
A soft rap on the door comes before it opens, Val poking her head in. “Everything okay?” she asks softly. “I heard shouting.”
Before anyone can answer, she's let herself in and crossed her arms, that all too familiar brow furrow coming into vision at the sight of Olive’s pale face. “I'm waiting,” she says, turning to Dougie who is turned away from her. Olive hears him take a deep breath, her fingers rubbing together in nervousness, the skin burning as she repeats the action over and over to try and steady herself. He stands slowly, Olive quickly beelining for the door and pushing past Valencia.
“Ol? What–” she hears her say, before she loudly asks, “what did you do, James?”
—
Sitting outside of the Red Cross hut, knees to her chest as she tries to focus on breathing, she feels a presence appear above her. Valencia stands tall, yet relaxed before shifting her skirt to sit down next to her.
“You'll be happy to know he still has kneecaps,” Val says casually, lighting two cigarettes and handing one to Olive. “And he is alive. But he did tell me what happened, and I sternly reminded him that he shouldn't talk to you like that.” She holds her close, their free hands clasped together. “I've never seen you like this. Not even when you two fought all those months ago. What's all this, doll, hm?”
“It's so silly,” she squeaks out, closing her eyes in embarrassment. “I know he wouldn't physically hurt me but…it's angry men. Men who get angry.”
“You're gonna need to give me more than that, girly.”
“My ex, Kyle,” she winces, the mention of his name causing bile to rise up in her throat, so much so that she can almost taste it. “He was so angry. The smallest things I did set him off…I was on the other end of an angry man's hand for a couple of years and now, the second a man gets angry. I don't know,” she takes a deep drag of the cigarette. “I believe they call it self preservation.”
“And I'd call it ‘I'm glad that asshole is seventy years in the future, otherwise he'd have no kneecaps, elbows or ears.’” Olive giggles, breathing out and relaxing into her friend. “From what I can gather, this mission is huge. So huge that even I can't know yet, and Chicky is usually fine with getting me knowledgeable. Dougie is just overwhelmed. Ev just handles it better because he's paired with Major Level Headed Rosenthal. Your guy is with the man who couldn't find France because he couldn't stop puking, who is so anxious that I'm sure he'll end up worrying himself into anemia.”
“Yeah,” Olive sighs, smoking the last of the cigarette. “Still shouldn't have spoken to me like that, though. He could have said he was overwhelmed.”
“Olive, look at me,” she says seriously, holding her chin in her hand. “He is a man.”
Olive tries her best to keep a straight face, but drops it the second Val breaks into roaring laughter. As she opens her eyes again, she sees James making his way over in a Jeep.
“I'll leave you to it,” Val says, squeezing her hand as she gets up.
“Thanks, Val,” Dougie says, sitting in the spot she just left.
“I'm sorry, Ollie,” he says, holding her head on his chest and kissing her hair. “I'm just–it's a little overwhelming. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that, I was outta line.”
“So you're not mad at me?”
“Jeez, no,” he reassures her, lifting her chin to have her look at him. “I could never be mad at you.” He kisses her gently before holding her again, squeezing her close to him.

Smegtober #16: Future
“No.”
“Look, Lister–”
“Sir–”
“C'mon, buddy–”
“No, absolutely not! The fact you're all even considering it is crazy!”
Though that, perhaps, wasn't far off. They'd definitely gone a bit crazy over the past few years, cooped up on Starbug. Stir crazy, space crazy, likely some combination of the two. Tensions frayed more than ever before, Rimmer's temper erupted with growing frequency, The Cat had practically reverted to his early day habits of slinking off alone, away from the group like a stray–as much as one could on a vessel as cramped as this, and Kryten fretted and hovered with an energy bordering on obsessive.
It's your fault, whispered a small part of Lister's mind he was forced to push down more and more frequently these days. After the accident when they found the time drive, Lister was no longer able to take shifts in the cockpit, no longer able to go along on derelict raids (and neither was Kryten, who was adamant about staying to look after him), no longer able to do much of anything. He regretted any callousness he showed Rimmer before the hologram had become hardlight; he now could empathize with the feelings of helplessness and frustration that came from the lack of a body. Perhaps that's why it was Rimmer waiting to explain things to him once he regained consciousness. That, or Kryten was too hysterical and The Cat would never be an ideal candidate to break bad news.
But despite that, now that they recently found a faster-than-light drive on board another ship and got it running, the other three had turned to him as the last word on this proposal, even though they all seemed set on convincing him.
“It's not like we're going to be dining with Adolf and Eva!” Rimmer exclaimed.
“No, but it'll be close! In some court of Elizabeth where they'll be looking down on the rest of the country and saying, ‘Let them eat cake.’”
“Wrong royals, Listy.”
“The attitude's the same though, eh? I thought you learned that after your 600 years by yourself–selves.”
Rimmer grimaced, but it was The Cat who continued. “You don't have to worry about taking care of a body anymore, man, you already lost yours. But what about me? I've still got to eat. Some of my favorite suits are getting baggy, and that is a greater tragedy than anything they’ve done.”
“I'm afraid, Mister Lister, that the recent raids haven't provided much in the way of a food supply.”
“Haven't provided much of anything, really,” Rimmer cut in. “The faster-than-light drive we found was a miracle, as well as the only useful thing we've come across in ages.”
Lister did notice then, through the optical equipment to which Kryten had hooked him up, that Cat's jacket was hanging a little loose, that the outfit itself was not as pristine as it would have been in years past. There were deeper lines in Rimmer's face, some slight graying along his temples. Kryten looked the same, but he could guess that the stress and effort of their time on Starbug (of caring for Lister) had taken its toll on his internal wiring.
“So we're going to go up to some crazed dictator for help? That's the solution?”
“What would you have us do? Go up to some peasants’ hut, knock on the door and say, ‘Sorry there, miladdo, we know you're starving and probably dying of the plague but could you spare us some fresh fish?’”
“What about a later time, our time?”
Kryten and Rimmer shifted uncomfortably. The former replied, “It might be best, sir, to try to avoid a time when JMC and Diva Droid are operational. Not to mention that, in such times, we'd have more advantages.”
“Technological?” If Lister could, he'd sit up straighter. “Are we gonna threaten to blast people out of existence?”
“No!” Rimmer replied hastily. “...Not unless we really had to. But–” he continued quickly before Lister could speak up again– “we were thinking more along the lines of financially.”
“Turns out some of my shiny things mean a lot to some of those old monkeys.” Another warning sign. The fact that Cat was open to the idea of trading away some of his stash of trinkets meant things were dire.
“And materials for new clothes. I haven't been able to make a new vest in years and that is way too long!”
“They could buy us food, good food, something other than weevil and moss.” Taking in Rimmer's look of longing, Lister wondered, under these circumstances, if he had eaten anything recently. He didn't need to, but now had the ability to. And he knew, from the incident when they'd swapped bodies, how desperate he could get to sate his hunger.
“Yeah, food and cloth only possible through the suffering of the people under them.”
“Was our period any different, Lister?” Rimmer shot back. “You think some of your t-shirts didn't come from people slaving away in some sweatshop on Titan? Do you think JMC was a humanitarian effort? Of course not! That didn't stop you from buying those shirts or working for this company. You benefited from that, and we can do the same thing now. Or would you rather we wither away here in this crowded scrapheap?”
If Lister still had a face, it'd be twisted in disgust. Not just towards Rimmer, but towards himself: a bit of him could see a logic behind what he said. “What about you, Kryten?” He turned to the mechanoid for some support.
“Mister Lister, you know that I'm programmed–”
“Don't give me that ‘programming’ smeg, Krytes; you've broken from it for years now.”
Kryten, with the decency to look apologetic, said, “Human morality is a very fluid thing, sir. What was permitted one century becomes reprehensible in the next. We can't change that, but we can do what's best for the crew.”
“Exactly! I don't care what your dozen-greats grandparents did, bud. I hate to say it, but I agree with Goalpost Head.” They all agreed: a rare thing to see from them, especially these days.
Lister, who always thought he was a decent man, who thought he could do the right thing, felt something in him relent. If he didn't, he'd have to live with the guilt as his crew–his friends–wasted away, and that was something he didn't think he could endure. Taking a first step into their new future, Lister agreed. It's not the worst thing they could do, the most immoral people they could turn to. Of course, they knew better than that.
#Haven't thought deeply about Out of Time recently. Had to rectify that.#Trapped like rats in a barrel is kinda a raw phrase I hope I captured well in the vibe here#Also if I had a nickel for each RD fic I've started that discusses the rise and insidiousness of fascism I'd have two nickels#Red Dwarf#smegtober2024#Dave Lister#Arnold Rimmer#The Cat#Kryten#My Fics#Original Post

Skizz Week 2: Days 1 & 2
I'm running really late on these, but I DO want to do them all, hopefully!!! And I know I'm usually an artist for this kind of thing, but I had an idea for some of these and decided to try writing this time instead. These will all take place in the RMAU-Verse, just fyi. And if anything doesn't make sense or whatever, shoot me an ask and I'll be MORE than happy to answer and/or ramble about it!!! Without further ado...
(Edit: Now also on AO3 here!)
Days 1&2: Calm/Chaos & Sun/Storm
(Note: at least this drabble takes place after a fic I'm still writing, and there will be some slight references to what happens in that fic. I'll be happy to explain things if anyone wants to know.)
It's been awhile since he joined, but some days, the fact that he's on Hermitcraft with Impulse - and Tango and Zedaph and Grian and Scar and Gem and… and all the other Hermits - sometimes it just hits him again. It'd been years of being apart since Impulse was summoned to Hermitcraft and Skizz was… left behind isn't quite right, but it's not exactly wrong either. Sure, they'd seen each other on and off, and more so during season breaks, but it just… wasn't the same. But now he's here, he's back with his Buddy - his Partner - and their other friends, now he's on Hermitcraft with them. He's finally home…
And it's been a few days now since the Incident, everyone's instincts have calmed back down, and Skizz is sitting about halfway up on the outside of his newly “finished” pyramid, simply basking in the warm sunlight of Hermitcraft. He's just stretching out his wings to catch some more sun, when he feels a soft ping of curiosity, of where are you, whatcha doin’? from the other side of his Bond with Impulse. He sits up a little further, wings flapping softly, and turns his attention inward towards said Bond.
Dippledop! I'm just sitting on my Pyramid, soakin’ up some sun! What about you, hommeh buddeh?
He accompanies his words with a warm wash of fondness and welcome invitation. He's answered with a flash of eagerness, acceptance, and matching fondness.
Nothing much. Which side?
Facing Gem’s.
Only a couple seconds later, Impulse swoops around the corner of the pyramid and glides up to land beside Skizz. He can't help but smile up at his Partner, his best friend, as he stretches out one wing for Impulse to sit next to him. And he does, tucking himself under Skizz's wing and letting his own wing wrap around Skizz's back underneath the white feathered wing draped overtop him.
“Hey hommeh buddeh!”
Impulse hums happily and leans further into Skizz.
“Hey Skizz.”
They sit in calm silence for a while, simply basking in the warmth of the sunlight and their Bond. Skizz hums happily as Impulse rests his head against his shoulder, and he carefully leans his own head into Impulse's. It's been a while since they sat together like this, nothing really pressing to do, just… enjoying each other's presence.
It's a while before either of them speaks, and it's only after they see Gem exit one of her buildings and start walking around.
“I missed this.”
Skizz feels Impulse shift slightly to look up at him, and lifts his head to give him more range of movement.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, just… us just hanging out together. Nothing pressing to do. It's nice.”
Impulse hums and sets his head back on Skizz's shoulder, and Skizz lets his own head fall back onto Impulse's.
“Yeah. Yeah, it is nice.”
They lapse back into silence for a while. This time it lasts until they're spotted by Gem from down below. She waves up at them and waits for their answering waves before going back to what she was doing.
Skizz feels Impulse let out a big sigh and press a little further into his side, his tail swishing to curl around his own. He lets the wings on his tail wrap around Impulse's and secure the loop. A wash of overwhelming contentment and delight echoes down the Bond. Skizz lets out a questioning hum, and backs it with his own little burst of curious query.
“I'm just… really glad you're here, man.”
Skizz squeezes his wing around Impulse and presses his head further into his Bondmate’s with a pleasantly surprised noise.
“Awwww, Dippledop! I'm glad I'm here too!!!”
Impulse shoves him sideways and Skizz can't help but burst into laughter, which only drags Impulse with him. They're loud enough that they notice Gem in the distance lift her head up, look at them, shake her head fondly before going back to working on one of her builds. That only makes them laugh harder, leaning back into each other in helpless giggles.
Slowly, eventually, they settle back down, leaning into each other as the remnants of a few final giggles shake through them. A lazy warmth overtakes them between the calm contentment of their Bond and the soothing sunlight. A soft purr begins rumbling out of Impulse's chest, and Skizz can't help but grin.
“You happy there, Dippledop?”
Impulse huffs and pushes Skizz over somewhat by flopping further on top of him, weight pressing him into the pyramid beneath them. His purr never really stops, however, and Skizz's grin only grows as Impulse playfully snarks back.
“Shut up, dude!”
Skizz snickers but decides to simply shift to be more comfortable underneath his Partner's weight rather than continue messing with him. Between the warmth of the sunshine, the comforting weight of Impulse above him, the soothing purr rumbling through both their chests now, and the soft pleased and satisfied echoes in their Bond, Skizz finds himself drifting off to sleep.
In his half-asleep state, he feels more than hears Impulse's purr be interrupted by a questioning hum, accompanied by a soft query.
Gonna fall asleep here?
Blearily, Skizz blinks his eyes open and disjointedly peers up at the soft clouds above them.
Prob’ly shouldn't. But I think I'm gonna. It's warm and I can't be bothered to get up.
He feels Impulse shift to get more comfortable atop him and catches a brief glimpse of dark hair and crystalline horns as he lets his eyes fall back shut. The weight atop him is more evenly distributed now, and he can feel the dark wings spread further out across them to absorb even more sun as Impulse's purr picks back up.
Yeah, I feel that. Mkay. We'll just… take a quick nap here. Surely we won't regret this, yeah?
Skizz lets out a soft snort.
Absolutely not.
Even in their minds, it's dripping with sarcasm, and it draws an accompanying snort from Impulse.
Yeah. Not sure I care though.
Me neither.
With that, the warm sleepiness and basking feelings that have been growing in the background of their Bond push to the forefront, and they both let it overtake them and drag them into sleep.
When Gem wakes them several hours later, and teases them to high heaven because they're exactly as stiff and sore as they knew they would be, they briefly regret not moving to one of their bases, but in the end, they decide it's worth it. A moment of calmness in the sunshine is exactly what they needed.
(I'll post this on AO3 sooner or later too... - Edit: Now on AO3 here!)
