I wonder if, after Bobby's death, Buck get super anxious whenever any of his family have the slightest sniffle. Like, logically, he knows they're not going to have the fever and probably just have a common cold, but he can't help the way his skin itches and his brain dimly sounds alarm bells whenever someone in the 118 clears his throat around him, or when Maddie wipes her nose after sneezing and Buck half expects it to come away red with blood.

after buck becomes a diaz, someone asks where the “buck” nickname comes from, and he says “it’s from buckley, that was my maiden name” without thinking. or maybe he almost says maiden name but he realizes that’s weird so he goes with “virgin name.” eddie watches this happen and does not help

Have a slightly different flavor of Eddie (and for those of you who Know™️, no you don't 😘)

Eddie blinks his eyes open. When did he close them?  The minor concern slips away in the face of the faint grays and blues painting the horizon. The salt and surf settle under his skin, into his bones, pushing away blood and plasma so he can become something new. Or maybe return to something he’s always been. A restoration and renewal, like wafers and sacramental wine, except this is a more potent religious experience than any mass or confession. No wonder he chose to escape here before basic.  ...  Deep oranges and golds bleed through, blurring the edges of night and morning, of then and now, and he knows he can’t put off leaving any longer. The separation won’t be forever, just a short while. A sliver of his heart will always stay behind, holding a place for him.  He takes a moment to gather his things and make sure there’s no trash. If he takes a little longer than he needs to, well, he’s just being a thoughtful environmental steward.  With a small nod, Eddie acknowledges the mild waves and gentle breeze.  “Not goodbye, just see you later.”  On his walk back to the truck, the empty stage across the boardwalk beckons him to look one more time, so he does. He always did like listening to the music as a kid, even when his parents got all sappy about it.  His lips turn in a wistful half smile, and he allows himself to daydream. Just a little, enough to hold him over until the day he comes back and isn’t alone. Until he returns with his person. The one he'll love and slow dance with while their kid gives them offended looks that convey how disgustingly cheesy and romantic they are.  One day.
