I’d like to start by saying that no matter what fandom I join I tend to only support the official or canon ships. The reasons for that are:

1. I’m not a fan of romantic stuff as a whole, even makes me terribly uncomfortable sometimes

2. I just can’t imagine relationships in my head, so I need something to guide me like a text or better some type of imagery which is usually non-existent or poorly executed when unofficial. So the canon ships are easier for me to understand by default

3. I’m too into friendship or family dynamics, when I see characters who aren’t a couple I already imagine them in those types of settings, so the ships with them don’t make sense to me anymore

But even with all that I can say that I’m not really against most of the ships. Some of them even seem cute and a few of them I even ship myself, tho it’s rare

So today in this post I wanna state my unwanted opinion about the most popular ships in the Solarballs fandom.

Let’s start with the +- canon ones

1. Astrodude x his wife

Literally one the cutest married couples on media that I’ve ever seen. They just support each other all the time no matter what, and you can see how they care about each other. And even when so far away they still keep in touch and love each other

2. Ganymede x Europa

No matter how badly they behave in the story and how awful some of their decisions were, they still seem like they’re made for each other. They seem more like a “long-term relationship” couple to me and I like it a lot, the way they’re not as lovey-dovey and actually accept each other the way they are is very refreshing tbh. This actually seems very nice and cute in a way. Like a married couple maybe? At least when they bicker in the show they kinda give off that vibe. They could work as a couple. Saturn is very sensitive and protective and Jupiter needs support and seems like a patient guy, so they match well!

Personally I picture them more like old friends that rarely gather together anymore but are still close and supportive

6. Callisto x Triton

Maybe that could work? Both of them seem like adults with strong opinions on life and stuff. They might have something in common, but they are too different in my opinion still. Triton strives for freedom and lack of responsibility, while Callisto wants someone to lead her so she won’t have to be responsible. And even if some might say that Callisto changed in the show, I really don’t think so. Also I don’t think they’ll do great with long-distance relationships. For both of them it will be too much unnecessary work to maintain such relationships

I think that Triton sees Callisto as his first friend and that’s why he cares so much. It just doesn’t seem like he knows what to do and how to act. Callisto could also think of Triton as a friend, although maybe just a good acquaintance for now

7. Mars x Earth

It could work? I mean they are best friends and Mars clearly cares about Earth a lot, so he tries to not be too judgemental or put too much pressure on him. Earth also cares about Mars. I’ll just remind you how he made the whole tournament just so Mars will get back to him. So yeah, this seems like a bromance ship in a way, which means it works fine. Friends to lovers shift could happen in this case, although I don’t think they’ll be all lovey-dovey like many people portray them

8. Earth x Venus

This doesn’t work imo. Venus is too aggressive and communicates poorly. By that I mean that Venus in the show doesn’t seem like a person with a lot of social skills or even experience. The fact that he didn’t know how to play asteroid dodgeball until the tournament tells us about how he didn’t communicate with Earth and Mars a lot. He doesn’t seem like the guy to understand romantic love. Earth on the other hand doesn’t care about Venus much and is too dominant. Even if he confessed to Venus and Venus agrees (not exactly knowing if he actually liked Earth), they would get irritated with each other as they’re both too stubborn and closed off.

I see them as acquaintances at the moment with a lot of actual friendship potential

9. Uranus x Earth

Just no. Even if you’re going to reason that by telling how it’s “canon in mythology”, it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual show. Even if they seem cute enough together, like a shy x confident dynamic and even knowing how similar their current problems are (too afraid to say something wrong/be themselves), it’s just too out of their comfort zones. Uranus is an introvert, maybe even with a sprinkle of sociophobia and he’ll feel very awkward in any relationship. He’ll say some stuff he doesn’t mean and will feel terrible about himself afterwards. Earth in those situations would probably want to push it and sometimes could embarrass Uranus even more. Also I’ll remind you that Earth and Uranus barely know each other. Long distance relationships also would be hard as Earth can’t leave the Goldilocks zone and Uranus probably wouldn’t want to go through 3 other planets’ orbits just to visit Earth.

I don’t see them interacting much.

10. Luna x Titan

This could work. Seems like a pretty serious ship with them both being very thoughtful and pragmatic. Maybe sometimes flirty, but not much. They share some of their opinions. Luna is also very, VERY patient and supportive and Titan needs that as he tries to reach his goals. However, I think right now they have other stuff to worry about. But in the future? I think it will work nicely.

11. Mercury x Sun

Too toxic. It has the vibes of Boss x helpless employee which I’m very uncomfortable with. I don’t think that Sun could seriously love one of his planets romantically and Mercury wouldn’t want to date someone who literally hurts him all the time and demands constant attention. Just no. I don’t understand nor do I want to understand this one.

I see them only as friends. Maybe a bit one-sided with Mercury questioning this friendship

[Drabble Reupload] - To the anon who asked for this one before, I'm so sorry for telling you I didn't write it, it seems that I did! This only reconfirms how much my memory sucks hehehe. Many thanks to @wertzunge for saving even the drabbles I didn't remember writing.

The scent was absolutely amazing. Cyno sniffed and sighed in approval. So lovely.

“Been a while since you came for dinner,” Tighnari told him with a fond smile. Cyno didn’t reply but only stared quietly at him. It had indeed been a while. Even though they were in a relationship, it was hard to sometimes adjust their schedules.

Not that they didn’t see each other. They met here and there plenty. But yes, when did he last visit Tighnari’s home and sit here to be treated with his lovely homemade dinner? It had been too long. Luckily, he could enjoy it now!

“Almost ready,” Tighnari said, taking off his oven mitts after he put the food on the table.

Cyno stared at the oven mitts and then at Tighnari’s cute little hands.

“Tighnari! Your hands are freezing!” he chirped. Tighnari looked at him.

“Eh?” Cyno felt brilliant for having found such a joke.

“Your hands,” he said, and he pointed at Tighnari.

“They’re free-zing.” Tighnari stared at him.

“You took those off, and now they are free. They were… trapped in there,” Cyno said shyly when he noticed Tighnari’s bored expression.

“No?” Cyno asked.

“No,” Tighnari sighed. Ah bummer. Cyno had been trying over and over to find a joke that would make Tighnari laugh.

During their entire friendship and even since they started dating, he hadn’t been able to do it.

“Sorry Cyno, that wasn’t really funny. But that’s alright, I won’t judge you for it because you’re my boyfriend,” Tighnari said gently as he put the side dishes on the table.

“If you want to make me laugh, you know there’s only one way to do it,” he added.

…Cyno looked at him in surprise. Tighnari still casually prepared the last bits of their dinner feast, and Cyno cocked his head. Was that an invitation to tickle him? If not, then what was it? Tighnari shot him a playful glance, and Cyno blushed. What…

He slowly rose from his seat.

“You can do it later of course, after dinner,” Tighnari said with a cute blush on his face, confirming that it was indeed that what he was talking about.

“Right now, dinner’s re-Ehehh!” Tighnari jumped and dropped the cutlery he was about to put on the table as soon as Cyno grabbed both his sides.

“You mean I can do this?” Cyno asked.

“Yehehes but not nohohow!” Tighnari giggled adorably. Cyno felt amazed. He often tickled Tighnari but never got such blunt invitation to do it before. Perhaps even Tighnari missed this a little?

“How can I hold back now when you ask so nicely?” Cyno asked, slowly dragging Tighnari back to where he was sitting before. He sat down and pulled him on his lap while he tickled his sides and ribs playfully.

“Ahahahah! Cynaha-Cyno! D-Dinner’s ahahah!” “We can have a little starter dish. To get started with. Hmm?”

“Thihis is no stahaharter dish-gahaha! Wait-Wahahaait nohoho!” Tighnari laughed when Cyno’s fingers grazed against his underarms. He threw his head back and laughed beautifully. Cyno was wonderstruck and continued to stare at him while taking in his laughter.

“It is the best starter dish,” he whispered. For a moment Tighnari managed to climb off his lap, but Cyno held his arm and pulled him back again, causing him to tumble. Moving off his chair, Cyno pinned his squealing boyfriend down on the floor and attacked his cute tummy with rapid fingers.

“Ahahahah! Ahahalright enough! I lahahaughed! I l-laughed ahalready hehehhe!” Tighnari squeaked. Cyno smiled and finally stopped. He leaned in and grinned at his tired and hungry lover.

“Was that funny?” he asked teasingly. Tighnari rolled his eyes fondly and kissed him.

“Very funny,” he said. They finally got up and went to eat dinner. It was absolutely amazing, but after tickling Tighnari like that, Cyno knew that the rest of the night was going to be amazing. And perhaps, he could tickle Tighnari some more!

Chunkz

Honestly he doesn’t strike me as a pet person…at all. Ahahah. But you know what? He’d definitely have some fancy fish in the hallway of your guys’ house. He’d want to style the decorations, pick the fish and fuss over which color they should be. It would be kinda cute. Chunkz is a busy man and I feel like he wouldn’t have any energy to also take care of another pet, but fish would be the perfect option to liven things up a bit. You wouldn’t mind either, fish are fish. Just neutral swimming-dudes, besides they do look good in a house. Also imagine getting like some funny looking fish and then naming them together, like there’d be a Chunkz and a y/n j swimming tgthr it would be fucking hilarious.

Kenny

Oh my god. I know a guineapig person when I see one. As a piggy owner I can tell you that Kenny would definitely be the perfect match. Just imagine you get a guineapig and at first he’s like questioning your choices, but after one cuddling session he’d get the hype. I swear to god he’d love having a lil piggy. Imagine him coming back home after a long day of training, getting out the guinepig and laying it on his chest. The lil guy lays down, stretches out into a long sausage (that’s what they do when they’re relaxed) and the two just lay down, chilling while Kenny strokes the lil guys head. Nah I swear this is 100% the right pet choice. Kenny = guineapig man.

Niko

Now we know Niko likes cats and he had Lil Reng, but for some reason I feel like if he were to get a pet it would be a turtle. Yes a turtle. Why? Because. It’s such a Niko thing, like he’d definitely have something unique and unusual, probably not a lizard cause those things can be scary but a turtle? So chill and cute and they live like forever. He’d definitely make an Instagram account and buy little hats and little things he can place on its shell for photos. Plus he doesn’t have to fuss around over it too much, turtles don’t really play so he wouldn’t have to worry about being busy and not be able to spend time w it 24/7.

AJ

I think this would be a surprising one. After a little thought I came to the conclusion that AJ’s perfect pet would be a parrot. HEAR ME OUT! Like remember Maverick from Logan Paul and how fucking aggressive and loud he was? That would be AJ’s pet ahahahah. Like there would be sweet moments between them, like AJ would be editing videos and the lil birdy would cuddle up in the hood of his sweater or maybe like sit on his shoulder. But most of the time it would just be a crazy duo. The parrot yelling through the house while AJ yells back for him to be quiet because he’s filming a video. AJ would definitely talk to the parrot like he would to a person. He’d also run around the house trying to hide from the cray-cray bird while it screamed and chased him around. Basically it would be chaotic but very wholesome.

Sharky

Sharky’s cuddly, cute and sweet and he’d have a pet just like him. A bunnyyyy. Tell me im wrong like imagine him building a little corner just for the bunny and designing it and making it cozy and spacious and just fussing over his lil guuuyyyy. It’d be perfect cause bunnies are active and chill at the same time, like imagine Sharky going out into the garden and letting him run around, spin and flip in the grass while he laughed and watched how funny it looked. And then inside on a rainy day he’d lay on the couch, scrolling through his phone while the bunny warmed up in the front pocket of his hoodie. Jesus this would be sooooooo cute oml I’m crying.

A/N: Heya lovelyyy!! Thank you so much for the ask, I switched it up a tiny bit but I hope you like it ehhehe.

Warnings: everyone here is an idiot istg, a touch of angst, them not being able to say what they need to say, seriously; they have three people in their head and they’re that dumb? AHAHAH, light allusions to smut.

Buying things was something that plagued you like a weird disease that never went away. You didn’t have this type of luxury when you were younger, your mother always forced you to save whatever money you made and scared you into thinking that you would not have a single cent on you when you truly needed it. Funnily enough, when you started earning your own money, you gave in and started to spend on things that your mother would frown upon.

You stared up at the shelf of books before you, sighing frustratedly as you gazed at the beautiful new covers. You cursed yourself for walking into the new luxury bookstore that opened in the mall, your mother’s voice echoing loudly in your head. You screwed your eyes tightly and tried to imagine something that would pull you away from both the thought of buying the book and the sound of your mother’s grating voice.

You were laying down on the couch, your body aching deliciously from the weight of something covering you. Your hands were preoccupied, carding through soft curls as large hands squeezed your sides. You were smiling down at the person who was cuddling you close and the person looked up at you, big brown, doe like eyes meeting yours.

“You know I have those books in my flat?” a voice pulled you out of your little daydream making you gasp as you whirled around and your eyes met the same brown eyes you were imagining. 

Steven Grant was smiling at you, his lopsided grin matching his curls that flopped to his forehead. Steven always looked comfortable and you always had the inevitable urge to squeeze him. Oh, how you yearned to press your nose into his chest as you hugged him close. You faked a scowl and Steven’s grin got wider as his hand shot out and gripped your wrist.

“If you behave, I’ll let you borrow them someday.” his voice twisted your insides as he pulled you away from the shelf.

Your heart swooned whenever you were around Steven. He and the other two were your poison tree, the bunch you had intended to stay far away from but couldn’t get enough of. He gently pulled your book bag off your shoulder and slung it on his own as the both of you walked to the cafe that the both of you hung out at on a weekly basis. You’d mark your student’s exercise books while Steven did his research on the ancient artifact he was writing about.

At times, you’d feel his eyes on you and you knew it wasn’t exactly Steven looking at you anymore

“Hi, Marc.” you said, without looking up from what you were marking.

“I still don’t get how you do that.” The deep Chicago accent makes you shiver slightly.

“Your posture changes, dummy.” you said, earning a chuckle from him.

“How are the kids doing this week?” he asked, leaning forward to take a look at what you were marking. 

“Pretty good actually, their grammar is getting better and I think they enjoy my classes.”

“I’m sure they do, princesa.” came the beautiful spanish drawl. 

“Now, what did I say about switching mid conversation.” 

A long pause greeted you and you finally looked up from the book you were marking to see Jake staring at you with a satisfied smile.

“That it’s rude?”

“Mhmm.”

“I made you look though.” he winked at you and your insides turned into pure mush.

Outside, you rolled your eyes and casted your eyes back down onto the exercise book, holding back a grin of your own. 

“So, how is Mr. Daniels?” 

Your eyebrows furrowed and you looked back at Marc who was now leaning back in his chair, his arms crossed in front of him. You didn’t get why he would always ask you about the math teacher, you only called Mr. Daniels cute once in your life. 

“He’s good, I guess.” you took a sip of your coffee and bowed your head, not letting Marc see what was clearly written all over your face.

For months, you have been trying to get rid of the feelings you felt for the three men. They were absolutely beautiful and had personalities that fired up your very being, but an unfortunate incident stood between you and them.

Flashback

You and him were a little too close, you could see all of the little details of his face. You and him had demolished a bag of doritos and the empty wine glasses made the both of you giggle incredulously. You didn’t know who you were looking at, the alcohol muddling your brain as your eyes zeroed on the doritos dust at the side of his mouth. 

“You know I was thinking of asking Dylan out, the tour guide at the museum.” Steven’s voice burned a hole through your heart and you smiled, hiding the pain that coursed through you.

“You should.” you whispered, trying your hardest not to let your heart betray you.

“Jake suggested for me to take her out to that steak shop.” he leaned back into the sofa and stared up at the ceiling. 

“And what are you gonna eat there, silly.” you stifled a giggle.

“I dunno, bread, salad?” 

You tried to laugh the best you could despite the achy feeling at the pit of your stomach. 

End of flashback

“How’s Dylan?” you asked. 

“She’s alright.” Steven said softly. 

“Hmm.”

Your eyes caught a couple behind Steven and you smiled gently as one of them kissed the other one’s knuckles.

Jake noticed and turned around too, turning back to you with a grin and plucking the red pen out of your hand before suddenly taking your hand in his. Your heart blazed when you felt his lips on your knuckles and your breathing stopped for a second, his eyes shining with mischief. You quickly snatched your hand away from him and you could note the change in the way his eyebrows furrowed slightly.

“Hey, you know I was just joking, it didn’t mean anything.” he said quickly. 

It didn’t mean anything.

“Yea, I know, Jake , you don’t like me like that.” you said before you could stop yourself.

Jake’s thoughts raced as Marc and Steven panicked inside his head. They weren’t supposed to like you like that but they do and they wanted to stand on top of the table that you both were at and scream that fact at the top of their lungs.

You couldn’t mark anything anymore, with the way he kept reminding you of your failed love life. Your failed, unrequited love for them. You snatched the pen back from him and tapped the book in front of you, thinking of your next move. You quickly grab your phone and text one of your friends, Sam. Code red, the code you always used to get out of situations you didn’t like and you were feeling really uncomfortable with the energy you had created. 

A few minutes later, to your pure relief, your friend called you.

“Oh, umm, I have to go, Sam is stuck in a … situation.” you say as you frantically shove your stuff into your bag.

“Right, let me help you with that.” Steven said, standing up, a worried look on his face.

“It's okay, I got it.” you gave him a reassuring smile and tucked a five pound bill under the coffee.

“I’ll see you.”

“Yeah.” Steven rubbed the back of his neck, wondering if he had said anything out of the way, his heart pounding as he watched you walk out of the cafe.

You woke up hours later to a knock at your door. Your face was wet and you checked your phone for any messages, absolutely shocked to see about 14 missed calls from the boys, another five from your best friend and dozens of messages. You flung yourself out of bed and ran to the front door

You opened it to see a frantic Jake standing outside, his hair a mess. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around you and hugged you close, mumbling something into your hair in spanish.

“Shit, I thought something happened when you didn’t answer your calls. I called Sam and she couldn’t get a hold of you.” Jake’s voice was bubbling with tears and you looked up at him in shock. 

“Jake, I-” suddenly, his lips were on yours and you felt yourself being lifted off your feet.

The kiss was as frantic as he looked and you became putty in his arms as you tried your best to steady yourself. You pulled away and stared at the man in front of you, only to see Steven’s eyes staring back. Your hands came up to touch your lips and you couldn’t help but touch his lips too. 

“Sorry, fuck, I know you’re with-” you cut him off with another kiss and you felt all of your worries wash over you.

Your hands grip his face and you hold onto him until the both of you are out of air. 

“Fuck, what about Dy-” you pulled away and started to say, but Marc pushed you against the wall and caught your lips with his again, wordlessly asking you to jump as he gripped your hips hard. 

You jumped and wrapped your legs around his torso, your bodies sandwiched together. Your hands carded up his curls and you pulled on them for purchase, causing him to groan against your lips. 

“Wait, Marc, Jake, Steven, what’s happening.” you pull away, your confusion creeping up the satisfied feeling that you were feeling. 

You couldn’t tell who had control of the body as they pushed their forehead against yours, just holding you against the wall. 

“I don’t know,” you heard Steven’s voice whisper as he ducked his head lower.

Your hands were still in his hair and you pulled him closer.

“Put me down.” you whispered after a while and unlocked your ankles.

Their eyes were casted downward as they tried their best to not look at you. You pulled them to your dining table and busied yourself with making a cup of tea, chewing at your swollen bottom lip, wondering what had just happened. You wanted to feel it again so bad, the passion they pushed upon you was so fiery that you wanted nothing more but to have it course through your veins again. You sighed as you pushed the cup of tea in front of them.

“Whoever is fronting, could you please just explain what happened?” you calmly asked. 

When their eyes met with your’s, you could clearly see Marc’s sadness and it crushed your heart.

“We’re sorry we springed on you like that.” he whispered. “The truth is, I- we are in love with you.'' The last bit of his sentence came out like it was a harsh secret, clawing its way out of his voice box. 

You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding.

“Fuck.” was all you could say as you swallowed down your own tears. 

“But we know that you don’t feel like that for us, so you-” he continued. 

“Wait, who said that?” you cut him off, your heart thudding in your chest.

“You did.” Steven mumbled. “Just now, we only said that we didn’t like you like that because you made it clear how you felt about us.” 

“But- but I only did that because you have feelings for someone else! You know? The woman you are dating!” 

“We only said that because you said you found the math teacher at your school cute!” Marc slammed his hand down, making you jump. “We’re not dating Dylan!”

“I was joking, you dumbass! Oh my fucking god!” you slammed your hands down and stood up, pushing Marc’s chair back and straddling him without another word.

You kissed him like you meant it, putting your soul out there so that it would meet theirs. All the anger you felt was channeled back into the kiss and you wanted them to choke on their own passion with the way you pressed yourself against them. Marc sighed against your lips and melted away, letting the body switch frantically between Steven, himself and Jake. When you finally felt satisfied you pulled away and gave them a small smile.

“You boys love me huh?” you brushed their fringe away from their face and looked into the eyes that held the only three that you would hand your heart to. “Well, I love you too, cowards.”

“Hey, watch who you’re calling a coward.” Steven’s hands gripped hard at your hips as he grinned up at you, leaning in and kissing you softly. 

After a while he brought his lips next to your ear, he whispers “This coward won’t let you borrow his books until he makes you forget your own name.”

Your eyes widened and you shook your head, wondering what awaited at the top of the poison tree you managed to climb up on.

FR I feel that if you tossed the Genshin guys into a romance sim, it would actually be pretty legit-looking. Now if only there were some sort of actual Genshin otome game 😭 (if I could romance Kaveh in such a game, I think I would die and go to heaven)

Yeahhh I feel that there is such a pattern among male and female characters. Like for female characters, I guess that the ones who are kind of more… “male-gazey” are less likely to be popular with women? Like in terms of both appearance and personality. Though even this is difficult to define. Ladies like Beidou and Dehya seem to be REALLY popular with girls, at least in the west (if I am wrong tho plz correct me). Even Navia (whose design I suppose shows a lot of skin) seems to be well-liked by guys and girls alike, I follow a girl on here who is absolutely crazy for her (and tbh I am no different 😭). To me I guess that for these three, they’re good role models for girls so that contributes to their appeal to women players? Cos they have strong, confident attitudes and kick hella ass, but they’re also kind + beautiful… so I suppose they’re like, people you could admire on an aesthetic and personal level but also you could aspire to be like them.

To be fair I like Lisa as I remember running around as her a lot when I first started playing (and chatting with her cai bot gets wild sometimes cos she’s always calling me out for like low self esteem, bad mentality, etc 😭😭), in general I like all of the girl characters ahahahah though for Lisa and many others I could def see how they’d have more appeal to guys.

And for guy characters, I’ve seen guy players admire Diluc and Alhaitham ! Like they have a sort of “masculine” appeal, aspirational for guys I think. I’ve even seen some guys on the Alhaitham subreddit start to hit the gym to become buff like him 😮 Sorry for digressing so much with this topic ahahah just that it is very interesting to consider.

My BF has been fueling my Kaveh love AHAHAHA like when I’m using his computer he lets me run around as Kaveh as I haven’t been able to pull for him yet. Now I have much more Kaveh merch than before but I think that I will try to amass even more…

Ooooo that makes sense, yeah cons do get pretty crowded esp in the areas like the artist alley where people are crowding around booths. And maybe it’s for the best that you avoid cons cos (TMI in advance) the con stink is REAL 😭🤢🤮 Though some of them apparently distribute deodorant or soap for attendees, hopefully it alleviates the smell…

Yeahhh Touhou is hella old, like the franchise is older than I am (I was born shortly before the first windows OS game in the series came out 🫡). I know that ZUN is still producing new official games about every 2-3 years, and for merch I see that there are fumo plushies for the newer characters coming out, a pleasant surprise. But I think the barrier of entry is much higher due to the nature of the games so it’s less “mainstream” for young people compared to Genshin, as Genshin you could easily download if you have phone, iPad, non-mac computer, etc. But from what I’ve seen, you could encounter stuff of the most popular characters at cons if you keep your eyes peeled.

On the topic of merch (crazy complaint incoming!!!)… so I posted a pic of my Kaveh haul somewhere and someone made a comment alluding to that ship. This was the first thing I saw this morning, and OMG I was so irritated that I straight up blocked this person 😭 Sadly I can’t remove their comment (this would be more ideal). I guess this is rather extreme reaction as the comment was harmless… though in the description I literally put some unhinged stuff about “oh me and Kaveh are gonna get married” so I was wondering how they did not get the hint that “oh, this person doesn’t care for that ship.” I am bewildered that the shippers are everywhere, feels bad cos in the community I’m in, most of them are so so sweet but majority of them are also shippers of that ship.

Like when I see an arbitrary pic of [any Genshin guy] or Aventurine, I don’t go “ooooh la la Lumine’s gonna get that” or “hehe Stelle or Topaz is gonna enjoy this” respectively… ofc this is first world “problem” but still… they tether Kaveh to feeble scholar so much 😭

Also I was on a small yumejoshi community and I found a girl who is also Kaveh enjoyer, and who also feels uncomfy with the shippy stuff. It was a pleasant surprise that there are other Kaveh likers with a similar POV to us, since from my observation I see that many of them like that one ship along with him.

This got so long and convoluted, I hope it is not difficult to read !!! It does not help that I am currently running on some 3 hours of sleep and a can of green tea (it has no effect on me). If there is anything that needs to be clarified plz let me know !

Genshin girls in general are quite good, both on a design and personality level. Many of them are popular with women because, as you said, they look pretty while being badass. It also helps that the writing for female characters has improved significantly over the years, making them more fleshed out and complex.

I didn’t like Lisa’s flirtatious attitude at the start, but I have grown to love her a lot, and got excited whenever she appeared in events. I wish there was more of her, tbh. Navia is also my favorite Fontaine character overall! I saved for her so much.

I adore most of the Genshin ladies, actually. The only ones I dislike are Ei and Yae Miko.

Yeah, I think the cool and stoic type of male characters are more popular with guys. And I remember seeing that one guy on the Alhaitham sub! I wonder if he reached his goal?

I… never even thought about how stuffy and smelly cons would be. Lord, that makes me want to go even less. Ew 😣

I looked up when the first Touhou game came out, and it seems like it released the year I was born. So yeah, the franchise is hella old… But I thinks it’s nice that it still has fans even to this day. Even if it’s become harder to find fan content of it 😔

I’m so sorry you had to wake up to a comment alluding to That One Ship, especially since you simply wanted to share something you enjoy. The way a lot of shippers post obnoxious ship comments under art depicting a solo character is a serious problem. It’s very annoying to constantly be reminded of a ship you dislike, plus ruins the enjoyment you could have derived from the post itself. For whatever reason, I only see it happen for m/m and f/f ships.

It’s not wrong of you to block the person. If they make you uncomfortable, then the best thing to do is quietly block them. The Japanese and Chinese fandom communities often recommend to others to block liberally so they can create a safe space for themselves online and not see things they dislike. It’s all about protecting your mental health and having a comfortable space.

I am also sorry to say that a lot of people don’t check bios, or simply don’t care about your boundaries. Once, I had a few shippers of that ship follow me on Twitter despite my bio saying for fans of that ship to not follow me. Even after I made a tweet saying I’m uncomfortable with such individuals following me, one of them left a like and continued to follow me 😐 They knew but disrespected my boundaries, so I removed them.

It might seem harsh to block or remove people over ship differences, but in our modern era of toxic ship discourse and harassment, I don’t blame anyone for feeling triggered by certain ships or their fans. It’s much better to block a stranger online than subject yourself to psychological torture. The other person will forget about it in time, if they ever even find out you blocked them at all.

lol trust me when I say there are a much bigger number of Kaveh-lovers in the yume community who also don’t like his ship with a certain Scribe! I’m friends with a few of them. In fact, my entire social media circle is of Kaveh fans who like him exclusively with girls.

I feel like the Japanese and Chinese yume communities are better on that front compared to the English yume community. I try to stay away from English communities in general…

“Kwan”, Seokmin nudges his friend’s shoulder with a grin but the latter ignores him. “Seungkwaaaan”, the older male whines again, making Seungkwan roll his eyes in annoyance. 

“BOO SEUNG-”, “Will you shut up?”, he snaps his head towards Seokmin, dramatically putting his phone down on the table. “But you were ignoring me!”, “You were about to tell me about Y/N’s latest instagram post, weren’t you?”, he deadpans and Seokmin is left frozen in his spot. 

“H-How did you know?”, he asks while rubbing his nape and Seungkwan merely shows him the screen of his phone, the post in question clearly visible. “Oh”, “Yes, Seok, you’re not the only one who’s friends with Y/N and follow their profile”, “Ahahah, yes you’re right”, “But you are the only one who has a crush on them and is a complete coward about it-”, “I shouldn’t have bothered you at all”, Seokmin grumbles, crossing his arms in front of his chest. 

“Listen, I know you’re very fond of them and literally adore them, but you won’t win anything by sitting here, liking and commenting on their posts or going out with them for coffee or food or whatever while you’re walking next to them with fucking heart eyes”.

Seokmin hates it when Seungkwan gets brutal with his words - but what he hates the most is that Seungkwan is right about everything. 

But how is he supposed to make a move on you when you’re always so confident and a literal ball of sunshine?

His heart does somersaults whenever you post a selfie or a full bodied pic, in the cutest outfits, with bright colors and statement jewelry - if Y2K aesthetic was a person, it would be you.

But it’s not just the bright colors you’re usually sporting -  it’s your smile and radiant eyes that make him melt on the spot, whether he’s looking at you through the screen of his phone or in real life, in flesh and body.

All of his worries are skyrocketing to the max when he spots you at the cafeteria cashier, paying for your milk boba and you turn around, happily waving to him. He feels like he just got showered in ice, frozen in his seat and about to enter a panic attack.

“Dude, calm down, you’ll make it worse if you don’t relax!”, Seungkwan whisper yells at him, “I can’t fucking calm down - oh God, they’re almost here, Kwan, I’ll fucking pass out-”

“Good morning besties!”, you greet the two men with a big smile, “How are you doing on this fine day?”, fine my ass, Seokmin thinks - but a bit louder than he was supposed to. “Seok? What’s wrong?”, you ask him with a worried tone and he looks at you, frozen and eyes wide open, not knowing what to say.

His fight-or-flight instincts kick in and he mutters a faint ‘sorry’, bolting out of his seat and away from the table, leaving you and Seungkwan utterly baffled.

“What just…?”, “Don’t mind him, Y/N, he’s just…hella stressed lately”, Seungkwan makes up a kinda believable excuse, hoping you won’t catch up on what is really going on. “I might text him later, I’m worried about him”, you sit down, a pout forming on your lips. “I know you are, I am too”, Seungkwan exhales, “But knowing Seok, he hates making his friends worry about him, even if it’s something serious”.

Even if his friend loves him like he's the most precious person in the universe?, you mutter to yourself, fiddling with the straw of your boba, completely missing the way Seungkwan's eyes widen in shock. You didn't even notice that you said it louder than you thought you did, sighing as you take a sip of your beverage, slouching back in your seat - your mind is still occupied with Seokmin’s bizarre behavior and you pray to whatever higher being exists in the universe that you’re not the reason he acted that way.

“Um, Y/N, I should get going, class starts soon and Soonyoung will probably start wailing if he’s left alone”, Seungkwan clears his throat, “Where are you headed to?”, “Me? Um, I think I’ll go back to the dorms, my classes are over for today”, you reply nonchalantly. “Okay then”, the blond man gets up, “I’ll catch you later then. Oh, and cheer up a bit, everything’s gonna be okay!”, he says before sprinting away to make it in time for his class.

“Everything’s gonna be okay, huh…”, you mutter and leave the cafeteria, clutching the milk tea in your hand as you make your way back to your dorms, the taste of the beverage not feeling as sweet as it was a few moments ago.

Seokmin wants to disappear from the face of Earth after what happened today. 

He feels like the biggest idiotic asshole in the universe and the worst of all? He made you sad AND worried about him.

“Ughhhh you stupid, stupid fucking idiot dumbass!”, he curses in the pillow he grabbed and pushed on his face, practically screaming and kicking his feet (not in the cutesy way), all while his roommates are worriedly watching him behind the half open door of his bedroom.

“Do you think we should step in?”, Mingyu asks with an upset expression. “I would say no, but given the current situation and how he has been acting today, I guess we don’t really have any other choice”, Joshua sighs. 

“Um, I can hear you two”, Seokmin speaks with a defeated tone and his roommates shyly enter the room, awkwardly clearing their throats. “Aw come on, just speak”, he throws the pillow on his side, trying his best to sit up on the bed. “I’ll be honest with you, Seok, this isn't like you at all”, Joshua sits right next to his friend, “Can you at least tell us what’s going on?”. “What’s the point of telling you what’s wrong with me if I can’t solve it on my own?!”, Seokmin protests. “Are you fucking stupid? This is exactly why we’re here!”, Mingyu kneels in front of him. 

“Ew, Kim, kneeling? Really?”, “Shut up, Shua! Anyways, where was I? Oh, right”, the tall man picks up his train of thoughts, “What I’m trying to say is that we want you to tell us your troubles, because we’re your friends and we wanna help you”, “As much as I don’t want to admit it, Mingyu is right”, Joshua adds, his hand resting on Seokmin’s shoulder, making the man exhale in defeat.

“Okay fine, you won”, he shrugs, “I’m madly in love with Y/N but I don’t know how to confess to them because I’m a goddamn coward who has fucking heart eyes everytime I see them in person or one of their insta posts or whatever and I managed to make them upset today because I acted like a scaredy cat in front of them AND Seungkwan!”, he blurts out in one go, leaving his friends completely stunned.

“Well shit, dude”, Mingyu breaks the short-lived silence. “That’s all you have to say?!”, Seokmin asks with a baffled expression, “I literally spilled everything that has happened up until this morning!”, “Actually, I do have something to add”, Joshua chimes in, “Please do, I would love to hear your input”, “You’ve royally fucked up everything, Lee Seokmin”.

“Fuck you both”, he grumbles, falling back on the bed with a loud plop. “Hey, come on, buddy, it can’t be that terrible - nobody could ever hold a grudge against you, especially when you’re literally such a happy-go-lucky guy!”, Mingyu pats his back, “Besides, you could always text them back and explain yourself - you’re best friends with Y/N, so I doubt it’ll go that bad”. 

It’s as if a light bulb has lit up above Seokmin’s head and he grabs his phone, opening the chat he has with you, to see the familiar bouncing dots appear on his screen.

Y/N is texting…?, Seokmin notices and lets out a loud yell when he reads your message.

y/n <333: hey seok, sorry if i’m being nosy, but i wanted to check up on you…you seemed very upset earlier :(

“Why the hell are you yelling?!”, Mingyu whines, covering his ears, “Y/N texted me!”, Seokmin yells back in panic and the three men are instantly glued to the screen. “Are you seriously going to leave them on read?”, Joshua glares at his friend. “No, of course not! I’m just trying to think of a good answer”, “Oh my God, he’s so whipped”, “I fucking know, right?”, “Can you two shut the fuck up? Thanks”, Seokmin makes both of his friends stop simultaneously as he tries to type out a decent answer.

“Well, at least you’re being honest…kinda”, Joshua mutters, which earns him a slap on the head from Mingyu, signaling him to stay quiet and just watch.

Mingyu frowns as he reads the sent message, soothingly rubbing his friend’s back up and down.

“Fuck, stop being so nice to me”, Seokmin’s voice cracks, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. “Seokmin…”, Joshua looks at his friend, leaning closer to him.

y/n <333: um…i’ll go out with soonyoung tonight for ramen, do you wanna join us? it could lift your mood…

Tch….of course, that fucker, Seokmin scoffs, biting his lips out of frustration.

It’s not like he hated Soonyoung, not at all - on the contrary, Soonyoung is one of his closest friends. But the thought of you and him eating together, laughing and perhaps flirting (he knows how flirty Soonyoung can get when he’s in his comfort zone) makes him upset….and jealous.

“Uh oh…”, Mingyu grimaces and Joshua mirrors his expression, fully aware of how well you get along with Soonyoung - it was a very fine line, and one wrong reaction could blow up on Seokmin’s face. Badly.

Seokmin laughs dryly, tears now freely spilling from his eyes, staining his cheeks. He drops the phone on his bed, sobbing loudly, feeling lost and helpless. And it was all because he acted like a fool in front of you.

“Oh, buddy…”, Mingyu pouts and brings his friend in a warm hug, Seokmin’s head resting on his chest, as the brown haired man cries nonstop, “It’s okay, let it all out, we’re here now”.

Joshua silently stares at Mingyu, a puzzled expression on his face, as if he’s trying to ask what they should do to help their friend. But none of them have a good answer.

But maybe someone else does.

i love love reading about grief, it's my favorite theme to read about... i don't know how you give a eulogy and not have your knees buckle from under you from the sheer pain of it all, also what's the use in giving it if no three to five minute speech could possibly encapsulate who this person was, this person you intimately know, this person who is larger than life itself and for whom you hold a devotion so deep you could not recover from it 💔

I love reading about grief, I love reading about what it does to people. How it enters one's life on a sunny day and never leaves and it's like a ghost which haunts you to despair at first but slowly becomes your friend as time passes, because it's a part of love for the person, the place, the object you had. It's all that is, maybe a twisted form of it because it hurts but it's still love. 

I think its very important to talk about grief.

I just love human emotions.

How can I put it? I don't know how to write eulogies as well. Or read or say them. I could speak at the funeral of a loved one. I still think i haven't processed it but one random afternoon it hits me hard. 

I think there are many things about someone you love, you just keep to yourself. And that's the idea I have. That's what I am going to write. Max is a very complicated person to me so the way the grief will work through him and on him is going to be fascinating to write. 

Prosenna, dearest prosenna. Lol. Sometimes I read about them and think they aren't real. Because I think that it's more like ‘you only know what you had when you've lost it’ kinda way for Prost. The tragedy of it all. Like people will say ‘STOP TALKING THEY’RE REAL PEOPLE’ and i wholly agree but that doesn't stop life from being a tragedy whoever you are because at the end of the day you’re just human.

in every fandom there comes a time when you have to ask yourself, ok but what classes would these characters be if they were in D&D

overlong headcanons/design notes under the cut:

I based this AU off my rudimentary knowledge of D&D and it’s classes, but I’m taking creative liberties and it can be thought of as just a general fantasy rpg-style thing. Ended up being a mix match of comics and MCU but it’s an AU so hey it’s fine right lol

KAMALA - Sorcerer/Monk

Arguably one of the hardest to actually decide a class for?? I’m imagining her powers here as more akin to those she has in the MCU show; they’re something innate to her, passed down through her bloodline (and possibly unlocked by some event or heirloom as in the case of the TV show). I think the way she fights would be something closer to a monk, though? After awakening her powers, she journeys around helping people in the same way as she becomes Ms Marvel, both on her own and with the party. 

Kamala’s design is based pretty much entirely off the Mystic Marvel design (originally I believe from Champions, also in the Avengers game)! I saw this design and my brain instantly went brrrr because it basically combines my two fave marvel heroes (Dr Strange and Kamala)!! I changed a few parts of the design, and simplified the shirt a bit. I think it suits Kamala well for a fantasy AU - even in the main comics she wears an outfit that’s comfy and easy to move in!

NAKIA- Sorcerer/Cleric

Since Nakia is the only sensible one here, it made sense for her to be the (begrudging, probably) healer. I think it suits her personality well too though! I’m imagining here that her powers are innate (like a sorcerer), but she just uses healing magic the most (like a cleric). More similar perhaps to something like the cleric class in Fire Emblem Awakening, where clerics are often religious but their powers aren’t something directly conferred by the gods. 

Nakia’s design is based entirely off of her Storm Sage look in Ms Marvel (2015) #38 (aka the one where the gang gets isekai’d) Once again simplified it a little and softened some of the shapes (since it’s more of a villain look in the comic, but she’s obvs a good guy here) 

BRUNO - Wizard/Artificer

Bruno’s outfit is also partly inspired by #38 (esp for colour scheme), but I mainly just did my own thing for what I thought he should look like in a fantasy AU ahahah. Gave him a long coat because if there’s one thing I love more than wizards, it’s wizards with long coats lmao

To me the D&D wizard class is much more the ‘study and research’ side of magic so it think it works well for the scientifically inclined Bruno. The thirst for knowledge and hubris (all the benchmarks of a good wizard character, really) are also very fitting for him, I think..!!

He’s a natural prodigy of magic and manages to get accepted to a prestigious and exclusive magic school but is kicked out after The Accident. Leaves to find somewhere else that’s willing to teach him since he can’t accept the idea of not learning magic. Meets Kwezi and the rest plays out much as it does in the comics

His prosthetics are powered with some kind of Magical Rock (call it a magic substitute for vibranium), and made by Kwezi. I’m undecided whether they’re grafted onto his arm/leg or it’s a whole Full Metal Alchemist situation but maybe a bit of both? The arm also acts as a conduit of sorts for casting his own magic (hence where the artificer class comes in). As he makes all sorts of stuff for Kamala in the comics/show I think him having the ability to craft magical items also fits well. Probably learns that magic from Kwezi. Which brings us to...

KWEZI - Artificer

Another magical prodigy, but I see Kwezi as more of a support type to Bruno’s spellcaster. The embodiment of chaotic good. I think he’d be mainly a crafter of magical items (sort of like Olruggio in Witch Hat Atelier?) 

His background in this AU is the same as in the comics, and him and Bruno go adventuring a bit themselves before joining up with Kamala and co eventually. I think he’d be pretty sheltered when it comes to travelling outside fantasy-Wakanda, especially compared to Bruno, so hijinks ensue. (Side note, but I absolutely adore that contrast when it comes to Kwezi & Bruno’s dynamic, I’m so in love with them both)

The green cloak-wrap is inspired by his formal outfit in Ms Marvel (2015) #30, and the harem pants are from #29. I think comfy, practical clothes suit Kwezi, and I like that the colour scheme for him is a nice contrast with Bruno! 

KAREEM - Rogue

Probably the easiest class to decide on because really what else could it be?? I’m undecided on whether Kareem should have his origin from the MCU show or the comics for this AU - personally I prefer comics but I do think a secret society sort of thing would work well for a fantasy AU so I’m leaning a bit more towards that perhaps.

His design is a mix of MCU, comics and my own take on it to make it a little more fantasy/rogue-like.  

KAMRAN - Sorcerer

Probably the only one here (except maybe Kareem) who’s primarily based off his MCU appearance rather than the comics. I see him as being initially a bit more of a bad guy than in the show though, a sort of misguided villain who eventually ends up joining the party (see: Zuko in ATLA)

He’s grown up with the Clandestines (probably some kind of cult here) and he generally believes in their mission, so it takes a little more for him to turn on them. As a sorcerer his powers manifest suddenly and he doesn’t understand how to control them at first. The Clandestines probably want him to use his powers to their ends, and that, along with run-ins with Kamala gets him questioning whether he should continue to follow them or turn away from the only family he’s ever known...

Kamran’s design was probably the hardest to figure out, since he only really has appearances in regular clothes, and no canon alternate designs to work off of (like Nakia/Bruno/Zoe). In the end I was thinking of the Clandestines and what they might wear in such a setting? The blue colour scheme is based off the jacket he wears in ep 6 (probably his most iconic MCU look) and also his coat/scarf look in Ms Marvel (2014) #13. I don’t think I captured Kamran’s likeness very well here but his outfit actually turned out to be one of my faves, so swings and roundabouts hahah

ZOE - Fighter

I’m imagining Zoe in this AU is the daughter of some lowly noble family (a big shot in the town that her and the gang are from, not so much elsewhere). After a run in with some bandits where she’s saved by Kamala, she resolves that she needs to get stronger. Not the strongest nor the most skillful fighter, but she’s trying her best!!

Zoe’s design is inspired by her fantasy look in #38 (the pink tunic in particular), but I changed and added some details to it. Her cloak I swapped out for the pink scarf, as inspired by her stint as Ms Marvel!

BECKY - Paladin-->Warlock & JOSH - ???

The actual bad guys of this AU ahahah. I’m imagining here that the events of Civil War II play out pretty much the same in this AU as in the comics. Becky starts out as a paladin with generally good intentions, but when she crosses a line she gets disowned (is that the right word?? probably not) by her god. Unable to deal with it, she turns instead to darker powers, making a pact and becoming a warlock. 

I haven’t really thought about what class Josh would be... maybe a fighter as well (to match Zoe?), but I’m imagining him as a sort of mysterious Black Knight type figure, hence the you haven’t unlocked this character yet question marks lmao

Their designs are based entirely off their lockdown/discord appearances, just adapted into fantasy-armour style. I think the designs carried over really well, actually (definitely helped by the excellent colour schemes!)

And there you have it LOL I have no idea if I’m gonna do anything more with this AU but just wanted to share the brainrot, so if you got this far THANKS..... any thoughts/suggestions for other characters I should add are always welcome!!
