I kinda love how the moment Leo got his dual wield katana back, he adapted so much more naturally to his teleportation abilities.

Not to say he didn’t come around with the odachi, but it was pretty clear that he struggled hard with the mystic properties of it, and I think that it’s partially because while the odachi itself is a portaling tool that seemingly most anyone can use, Leo’s innate mystic abilities call for something to work with him, not for him.

So it makes perfect sense why his katana, made from himself and more in line with how he naturally fights, finally allow him to seamlessly grasp his space warping abilities to the extent he can.

Purple15 propaganda essay incoming!!

Purple15, in my opinion, is one of those teams that have excellent overall team chemistry. Not just between a duo, or two duos, or a trio, but as a whole TEAM. And for Purple15, that is quite the feat considering we already have two strongly established duos with good chemistry. Yet, no single dynamic dominated. They were a team, played as a team, communicated as a team, and I genuinely think they are one of the best examples of a hermit team having overall great synergy.

Let’s talk about spring-summer 2021. Third Life started in April, MCC14 came back in May, and by that time, people were obsessed with Ren and Martyn. Dogwarts. Red Winter. King and Hand. And they were both MCC participants! Yet they haven’t teamed together yet. Naturally, a whole bunch of people were wishing for a Renchanting team, given that their only public interactions are in the Life series and on MCC, and the status quo unsurprisingly remains the same up till now.

Blue9 and its successors (notably the many Fruit Lime teams) have given people the exciting idea that the hermits should team with more S tiers. And since the hermit fans loved Fruit, surely they would love his bestie Illumina, and people were waiting for the first Illumina-hermit team.

So in the midst of the Renchanting fans manifesting and begging for a team, Purple Pandas dropped. And tumblr, naturally, went insane. So many posts were made. Dogwarts lore or whatever. Everyone was crying about the reunion of the Hand and his King. (I was really embarrassing about this team back then, please forget everything I said before MCC15 T-T)

Predictably, Ren + Martyn was the most anticipated duo. But in the actual event, they did not dominate the team dynamic. Same with Ren + False (although they usually tend not to dominate in team dynamics anyway). And while False-Martyn-Ren could be regarded as being in the same circle while Illumina has his own circle, they meshed together really well.

Illumina muted himself in HITW, and one might be worried the other three would falter without a “leader” (since the best player was usually the designated leader, although HITW doesn’t require much leading). However, the trio communicated with each other smoothly and got through HITW with no issue.

Battle Box was fun. Imo none of them actually “led” in the traditional sense, but they all contributed nonetheless. They were so excited by False’s surprise clutch.

And of course, Sands of Time featuring a classic Ren sandkeeper. I think that was the first time SOT was played in the new season and it had some changes which confused the team a little bit. Did you know that Purple15 was the first team to open three vaults? Yeah. They did that. Ren in particular was an excellent sandkeeper, kept track of sand, time, keys, revived players (Illumina), and in general was quite smooth.

And the whole “Ren forgetting to mute during break”, with Illumina just quietly listening lmao. That was cute.

I think in general they had good comms, great vibes, morale was high, and they were just happy to be there :D

Bonus mention for False-Illumina as they would go on to team in various other e-sports tourneys, such as MCC20 Yellow which got first in coins, which eventually paved their way to win the irl (!!) Twitch Rivals Craftmaster in July 2022, with False leading her other team members Illumina, OwengeJuice and Tapl. Yes, they met up irl and WON.

This is the end of my TED talk. Purple Pandas 15– amazing beautiful spectacular smooth never done before. Also, it’s Ren being the sandkeeper, this team won in SoT and broke a record. False and Illumina’s first MCC team. Ren and Martyn’s first MCC team. Yet, none of these duos overpowered the other. It was balanced, as all things should be 💜💜💜

I see a pattern in my fav characters

Secondary character important but often overshadowed by their main cast friends, definitely not the writer’s favorite child with half a backstory flashed out enough to make them interesting but vague enough i can take my own spin on it without feeling out of place

Bonus point if they constantly switch between sweet and unhinged

i said this all in the tags of abigail’s post, but it was so long that i’m putting it in its own post

i completely understand where this breakup came from, and i am not upset with either of the characters involved in it. i appreciate the slight insight it gives into tommy’s lived experiences and his expectations, as well as the deep seated loneliness that he has alluded to in nearly every episode he has been in. the longing and the hope for connection and family and stability.

so yes, the breakup feels a bit self-sacrificial and self-destructive because he’s doing it now in an effort to protect his own heart. he thinks breaking things off now and dealing with that heartache now would be easier than waiting for it to ‘inevitably’ happen later when he is even more invested. and that makes sense!!! it does not come across, to me, as out of character at all. josh’s great speech even highlighted the scars that come along with queer people’s struggles (pre-glee) with themselves and with their relationships. there are so many experiences that could’ve left tommy scarred that would lead to this feeling that he cannot be buck’s last relationship. so this breakup, while it hurts, makes sense based on tommy’s reasonings, experiences, and conclusions he has come to.

but he also deserves for someone to prove him wrong.

my struggle with this breakup comes from the finality of the post-ep interviews. without the interviews, as a viewer who just saw the episode and is waiting for the next ones to come out without knowing any bts stuff or reading any articles, this would feel like a great path forward for buck to learn what he wants and to go for it — to fight for it.

buck discovering his bisexuality and being in a relationship with a man was never going to automatically solve all of buck’s issues with himself and with relationships, and specifically his place in relationships. but for the past 13 (?) episodes we have seen buck become more secure with himself and his space — the loft has had so many homey and cosy little decor changes, and it has been so interesting to see him feel more comfortable while making his place more comfortable. all of that makes the breakup feel sudden and unexpected, but that was the point. tommy surprised himself too, he even said so. they both felt comfortable and happy, but they also both have their own hangups. but also, they both actually want the same things. they both want love, stability, and mutual care, respect, and understanding. tommy thinks that buck will inevitably, accidentally, not maliciously, break his heart. and tommy does not think he can handle that, which i understand. buck has the opportunity to prove him wrong. but it seems (from interviews) that this is the last we will be seeing of tommy and their relationship.

now to take all of that, and have his next step be to just let this relationship go completely as he uses his old (self admitted) unhealthy coping strategies could be an interesting narrative arc to go down, but, for me, it would really only be worth it if he recognizes this old behavior coming back again, understanding where it’s coming from, and finds security in understanding what he wants. i want buck to feel happy, secure, safe, and loved. no matter who that is with — be it tommy, eddie, or some other person he happens to meet later. no matter who he is with, he is bisexual, and i will always be thankful that we have had this journey of self-discovery with him (which i hope we will continue to see ore development of — would also love if they would actually use the word ‘bisexual’ on the show). buck deserves to have growth and stability within himself and in his relationships, which is very clearly something he wants. he deserves to have that after eight seasons.

at the end of the day though, i will still feel upset for this end to tommy’s story, because he also deserves to feel happy, secure, safe, and loved. i hope he gets that one day. for now, that is what fan works are for.

I have conflicted feelings about the FNAF series in general, but seeing a movie where practical animatronic puppets are the primary focus of the film becoming not only financially successful but also well received by general audiences is pretty damn neat.

Also, okay, despite the fact I disagree on the “physical strength and combat” and “emotionlessness” bit that whoever wrote the Tech entry in that new Clone reference book put down (I think the people who write the reference books tend to not always watch everything closely, and that people use “emotions” to refer to emoting, not internalized feelings, which is kind of annoying but in any case) I am looking at the wording of, “would give anything for those he cared about—even his life.” Because. That still doesn’t say Tech is dead. Still. Tech would die for the people he loves. That’s inarguable. That’s been inarguable since “Ruins of War.” Whether or not he died, though—that’s the part that still isn’t clear.

i have such strange feelings about gen 4’s pokédex and specifically the new cross-generational evolutions it introduced. a lot of them feel unnecessary and slightly boring but harmless at best, some of them are active tragedies of wasted potential, but then there are a few shining exceptions where i’m like ‘wait, that evo WASN’T introduced in the same gen as the original one? they didn’t think to do that right off the bat?’ i’m looking at togekiss i cannot imagine a world in which togetot was ever conceived as the final stage in a line. like that is not a fully formed pokémon get out of here. thank you togekiss

Man ty for popping up on my dashboard. I miss voltron, but whenever I try to check what's up I get reaaally bad flashbacks as to how the fandom was. It's kinda worse when u accidentally triggered a community of a popular ship (its not kl@nce) :')))) hnghjgn idk how u do it

voltron is just. such a funny phenomenon. the show was like a C+ at BEST but we all stuck around anyway clinging to the hope that things would eventually improve and then they NEVER did. & so we all had to make do with literal scraps and we were RESOURCEFUL!!! 😭 I have honestly never seen a fandom where the fan content was so divorced from the actual source material like 💀💀💀 and i think this scarcity of good content forced people to be extra creative, which is why the voltron fandom was 1) so genuinely hilarious and 2) full of content producing MACHINES

Literally all we could do was just talk to each other. we were forced to survive off each other’s kindness & it made everyone super co-dependent. it really was a bunch of high schoolers forming parasocial relationships with other high schoolers; of course it got messy!!

also this is such a minor detail in the grand scheme of things but voltron hit tumblr at like the exact time social media became more accessible to people under 13 years old. and like. conflict and discourse is an inevitable part of fandom. but the end result was we had college students picking fights with LITERAL middle schoolers. and I genuinely cannot believe we all thought this was normal behavior!!!!!

Ikr. Hollyoaks were very daring in their early days with queer characters and have been pioneering when it comes to not only their gay/lesbian/bi/pan storylines and romances but also their trans characters. they’ve kept up a very consistent roster of queer characters throughout the years unlike a lot of the other soaps and they deserve real credit for that.
