• apollo claims his children with a radiant golden aura with "we will rock you" playing triumphantly in the background.

• they are all born with a golden ring around the iris of their eye.

• many, if not all of them are born around sunrise and die around sunset.

• whenever there's a day that the sun isn't shining, it means a child of apollo has died and the sun god is mourning them.

• sometimes, someone will sing a random note, and then everyone around them will harmonize with them.

• the infirmary is always so HECTIC. like they all have insanely good accuracy so they’re just constantly throwing medical supplies at each other.

• they’re experts at hiding earbuds under their clothes so that teachers don’t see them.

Random OC Tidbits !!!

Kyra has a habit of breaking things alot. She has and will continue to jump out of windows regardless of if they’re open or not, whats a few scratches matter anyway?

When she has no money but wants a snack from a vending machine… She’ll break the vending machine’s glass and take all of the snacks inside for herself then run away while giggling like a maniac.

Elena has the biggest appetite EVER. The girl can and will eat anything and everything. Has an even bigger appetite than Jade and can rival Ruggie when it comes to eating the most.

Jester has a talent for just appearing out of nowhere. Despite having bells on her outfits— shes extremely silent when she wants to be, and often appears whenever someone calls out for her. Its strange, almost like shes just always there, waiting for someone to call whenever shes not causing a scene elsewhere…

Jester LOVES music, and is Heartslabyul’s go-to whenever they’re in the mood for a song. Shes rather musically talented and can play a bunch of instruments, and she often appears whenever there are people painting the roses so they can all sing together teehee

Kyra is extremely prone to accidents. Like, seriously. This is more of a funny way to poke fun at the “Damsel in Distress” trope honestly, she always gets into weirdly bad situations and it can get ridiculous. She always manages to get herself out of it, though.

Its like, looney toons level stuff though😭 The girl will get hit by a car then just get up like nothing happened, or get poisoned somehow with the only cure being a ‘True Love’s Kiss’ but then she just. Wakes up. Because shes “bored of being asleep”.

Do I have any serious explanation for how durable Kyra is?? No. I just think its really really funny and I giggle when I think about it so thats really all the reason I need LMFAO the infirmary is her second home

Elena adores the moon. Its her favorite thing, and she’d often swim up to the surface late at night to just admire it. It calms her down, and in a way she feels connected to it.

Elena uses tarot cards for readings when not using her UM! She always has the best crystals, too.

Jester is SUPER expressive. She may be wearing a mask, but her mask is a magical one that copies the expressions shes making underneath— and actually kind of exaggerates them even more. Funnily enough, even with her face covered shes my most expressive OC! Her hat even droops down or shoots up depending on her emotions.

Jester is super non-confrontational and will just disappear into thin air whenever shes in a situation she doesn’t like. Literally, she’ll use her UM to make her look like she disappeared and just. Leave. 😭

Elena can also screech like. Really loud 😭. Part of her abilities as a siren is to screech so loud she can break glass WHAHAHA

Also, Elena’s siren abilities are actually rather weak. See, she was raised with the Leech family from birth, and so has no other sirens around her during her development years. So she just kind of had to figure it out by herself through books and whatnot HAHA

Elena is also trained in self defense and can ABSOLUTELY beat someone up. Shes actually SO FERAL. After keeping up a facade for so long and repressing her aggressive tendencies for the sake of keeping up her act for Azul and the Mostro Lounge— whenever she gets the chance to fight?? OH SHES SO DOWN.

Im actually so forreal when I say that shes brutal😭 absolutely zero mercy I fear, you do NAWT wanna know what happened when they took Azul in Book 6… the girl was SO pissed.

Kyra has learned how to catch fish with her bare hands. No I have no explanation for this. Sometimes when its raining hard she’ll return in the dead of night to ramshackle, soaking wet, with an armful of fish. Where did she get all this fish and why?? She won’t tell, and she doesn’t have an answer.

Kyra is. Actually kind of scary?? 😭 like she looks uncanny if you look at her for too long.

Kyra has NO self defense training nor any combat experience. Does that stop her from throwing hands whenever the situation calls for it and getting into fights??? No. The girl is too stubborn to back down and she cannot resist the adrenaline rush that comes with it

Lets be honest here Kyra would be arrested atleast like, once.

Kyra actually has perfect posture and poise! Its because of how strictly her “Princess Lessons” were burned into her very being, but the only reason she seems so elegant at first is because of those lessons.

Readers listens to artists like Lord Huron, wave to earth,day6, the last shadow puppets that sort of vibe. Their music tastes are similar enough for the most part however if a song is a little too romantic he will second guess himself because what if she doesn't know that he's playing for her (she does) or what if she thinks its weird (she thinks its the cutest thing in the world)

Unfortunately writing is not a talent I possess however if you wanted to write it I would simply be obsessed. You are my favorite Shigaraki fic writer and I know youd be able to do my silly little idea justice😭(If you do decide to write it please feel more than welcome to change reader's music taste to something more comfortable for you if you'd like! Ahh, thank you for the kind words about my writing! I’ve been thinking about this AU all day long, and this is my first shot at the first not-meeting between Tomura and the reader! I like the music taste you’ve given her (esp the Lord Huron) but I wanted the first song to be a little more egregious 😅 if this is what you had in mind I’d love to write more!

When Tomura rented this apartment, he had no idea the walls were so fucking thin. No matter where he is in the apartment, he can hear absolutely everything that’s going on around him. The couple in the apartment above him fighting. The couple in the apartment on the left having such obnoxiously loud sex that he almost wonders if they’re doing it just to piss him off. The guys below him would be all right, except they play Mario Kart twenty-four seven, with the volume on. Any time Tomura wants to do anything — take a nap, do his homework, play guitar, get two seconds to think — he has to do it along the right-side wall of his one-bedroom apartment. At least that’s where his bedroom is.

It sucks not to be able to use most of the apartment he’s paying for. Tomura’s going to host a jam session here in revenge as soon as he can get the rest of the band to pay attention instead of spending forever decorating their own apartments in nicer buildings than this one. In the meantime, there’s at least one spot where he can hear himself think.

Tomura knows there’s somebody living in the apartment on the right. You moved in a day or so after Tomura did, and he only knows what you look like because you asked him where the laundry room is. You were smiling when you asked him, and you’re cute, so of course he fucked it up and just pointed instead of telling you or asking for your name. You’re cute and you’re quiet. That makes you Tomura’s favorite neighbor by default.

He’s sprawled out on his bed, tuning his guitar in preparation for band practice tonight, when he hears you humming on the other side of the wall. At first he thinks you’re just humming random notes, which he doesn’t hate as long as you’re on-key, which you are. In the time it takes for Tomura to recognize the hook, you’ve already started singing.

“Yeah, it’s over, it’s over, I’m circling these vultures, got me praying, man, this hunger, feeling something rotten —” Sit Next to Me, Foster the People. Tomura doesn’t hate the song choice. “Last time I saw you, said “What’s up?” and pushed right through. Then I tried to catch you, but we’re always on the move…”

“And now it’s over, we’re sober, symptoms of the culture,” Tomura mumbles under his breath, “and the night ain’t getting younger, last call’s around the corner —”

“Feeling kind of tempted and I’m pouring out the truth, fading out these talkers ‘cause now all I want is you, just sayin’ —“

“Come over here, sit next to me,” Tomura sings, only to remember that he’s not the band’s lead singer and there’s a reason for that. He shuts up in a hurry, and you keep singing. We can see where things go naturally, just say the word and I’ll part the sea —”

The walls are thin. So thin that they might as well be hospital privacy curtains, which means that if Tomura could hear you humming, you can definitely hear him singing. This is a nightmare. It’s a good thing Tomura doesn’t live in the same building as any of his bandmates. With how goddamn fucking thin the walls are, they’d have heard him singing a nonconsensual duet with the girl in the apartment next to him, and they’d never let him live it down.

He’s not going to live it down anyway. When he gets to band practice still humming Sit Next To Me, he gets roasted so hard by the rest of the band that he’s surprised his guitar case doesn’t catch on fire.

“join us for a jam sesh later? we can show them the song, rest of the boys are going to be there.” the end of that sentence is laced with a tinge of bitterness, and eita likes to think that it’s hidden behind a forced cough and a minuscule amount of cellphone static.

he wants to show off what you’ve been working on because he’s proud, he always is, but as much as he refuses to admit it, he wants you all to himself just as it’s always been since the beginning. if inviting you over to band practice (“we’re not a band, we just play together sometimes and perform my songs at gigs”) with the guys is what it takes to see you, or hell, even just hear from you, he’ll make do.

the lyrics of the song are really sweet, he thinks it might be the first love song you’ve written fully. a part of him wonders what, or rather who, inspired you to write it, but perhaps it’s not his place to know. it won’t stop a part of him from wishing it was him though, and frankly he’s not sure what to make of that information just yet.

you had a rough skeleton of an idea for the instrumentals but pretty much gave him free reign with this one which he’s not going to say no to, making sure to sprinkle in a little bit of his own taste into it — heavier instruments are more of his forte, having countless alternative and rock musicians listed as his personal inspirations. the final product's a fine mix of you and him, perfectly balanced and no more of one or the other. he’s very proud of it, proud of you, as with everything that you do together.

his thumb hovers over the send button, the preview of his short voice message looping while he contemplates deleting it. it’s starting to get grating with how long it’s been going for, his pathetic voice doing nothing but making him overthink even more. he doesn’t know if he’s being presumptuous to imagine it but it seems like you’re... avoiding him?

it’s been more than a week with barely any texts or random voice memos, you're usually blowing up his phone with silly memes and song demos, or even as simple as asking how his day has been. nothing since the last time he came over and finished the song with you. he noticed something seemed up at the time but didn’t press, now the guilt eats at him for not at least trying to ask. you always did keep your troubles to yourself, preferring to handle them on your own and keeping him in the dark about it until it either got too much and eventually bubbled past the surface, or fizzled over and only coming out casually in conversation once it’s a thing of the past. but who's he to judge, he's not any better.

maybe he’s reading too much into it, you’ll tell him with time as you always do, right? maybe he’s blowing it out of proportion, maybe you just had a bad day before seeing him, or you’re just tired, or— enough, now i’m just overthinking again.

finally releasing his bottom lip from the onslaught of his teeth, he bites the bullet and hits send, tossing his phone on his nightstand. as he lays back down on the stiff mattress, the arm thrown over his face shields the glaring sunlight breaming down on his face. it’s way too bright in comparison for the thoughts swirling in his head and with a sigh, he uses the foot hanging off his bed to tug the curtains close.

give her time, she’ll come to you when she’s ready.

i just hope she’s okay.

the realisation that there even a slight possibility that you're in love with eita hits you like a splash of ice cold water to the face. you won’t lie and say that you didn’t have your suspicions, but it’s been just so long, brushing it off as the closeness of childhood friends. he’s your best friend, the first one you contact with good news, the first name that comes to mind when asked to invite a plus one, the first person you think of when you see those tiktoks of lovesick poems captioned “who do you picture when you read this?”, the list goes on.

in some way or another, this is what you always wanted, someone who understands your ins and outs and to spend your years with. eita was always the only option you’ve considered, but god you’re scared.

you feel a little sick to your stomach, the thought of it all weighing too heavily on your mind. there’s just too much at stake here, and you’re hell bent on not letting whatever the hell these damned feelings are jeopardise years of what you’ve built together. unknowingly in a similar spot, you find yourself curled up in bed, head swimming with worst case scenarios and make-believe narratives that say this is doomed for disaster.

light knocks on your door gently pluck you from the stirring storm in your head and with an muffled “i’m coming in!”, hitoka shuffles into your room and audibly coos at your deposition.

“hey, you left your phone out on the counter and it went off a couple times. i think semi messaged you too, thought you might want to see it.”

speak of the devil.

with a small smile that doesn’t even come close to reaching your eyes, you take your phone from her hand with a mix of gratitude and dread, “thanks hitoka. i- can i ask you something?”

“yeah what’s up? everything okay?” she sits by your side, her pretty, youthful features plagued with concern.

the posters on your wall suddenly seem like the most interesting things in the room, your eyes meekly darting around and refusing to meet hers. a wave of embarrassment washes over you from head to toe as you mull over your thoughts, collecting and trying to put them into words without sounding like a total idiot. this is stupid, you open your mouth for a moment and close it in the next, the words stuck in your throat and you’re already regretting bringing it up. you’re not ready for this conversation as much as you want to and it festers and grows and feeds on the seeds of doubt sprouting.

her small, smooth uncalloused hand closes over the back of yours in assurance and comfort, the small action causing a surge of peace and calm to flow through you, “it’s about him, isn’t it?”

nodding in shame, you hesitantly speak up, quietly, “hypothetically if i did have feelings for him—what if he doesn’t feel the same way? i won’t be able to look at him again.”

hitoka sighs dramatically, “first off, it’s a hundred percent not hypothetical who are you even kidding, surely not me. second, have you seen the way he looks at you? i’m surprised you haven’t caught on sooner.”

when you remain silent, she takes it as a cue to continue, squeezing your hand, “listen, i don’t know him as well as you do by a long shot, but i know feelings when i see it, and that man is very into you. and don’t even come at me with that ‘but we’re best friends’ bullshit, you don’t act that way with kenma and vice versa.”

you stifle a laugh at that last part, feeling a little tension release from your muscles after listening to her perspective. she’s nothing but truthful and supportive especially when it comes to anything (especially serious) concerning you and your heart swirls with warmth that you have someone like her to talk to about these things, the boys aren’t much help but you still love them dearly.

“i’ve been running away from him for days, i haven’t spoken to him since the last time he came over.” you mumble, rolling onto your back and staring at the ceiling, eyes fixed on the rotating fan and letting it blur in your vision as your hand still remains clasped in hitoka’s.

you feel the weight of guilt on your shoulders for shutting him out so abruptly, the sudden rush of feelings leaving you dumbfounded in its wake. your instinct was to hide and let it pass, hoping he wouldn’t catch on, but you never stopped to consider what it might look like to him. truthfully, the longest you’ve ever been apart was when your family went on holidays overseas, never if you could help it — you miss him.

remembering that he sent a message, you opened it up, letting the sound of his voice flit through the still air within your four walls. it sends a tingle down your spine and causes a soft involuntary smile to stretch across your lips, it’s like music to your ears.

“i swear to god, you two are disgusting.” hitoka lightheartedly complains as she rolls her eyes, getting up to leave you be. “go see your man before i throw up.”

“shut up, it’s not like we’ll be alone!” you retort, flipping her off as she’s shutting the door with a click, hearing a yeah yeah yeah echo down the hall.

More Random Ult Kpop Group Questions: SKZ Version!

I did something like this a while ago when I first started this blog. So it’s time for another round! Questions below the cut I'm marking as MDNI. Like before, feel free to use this template of questions for your own ult group & tag me (and some friends if ya like). I love to see everyone’s responses 🤗

Dumbest thing you believed as a new fan?

Oof… there’s a few things I fell for as a baby stay, technically I still am a baby stay I think, BUT here’s my uhhh list: 

I thought Hyunjin had an identical twin brother.. 🫣 wait WAIIIT before you come at me, there was a rumor/joke going around at the time and obviously I didn’t know any better, so I believed it. There were even really good edits of Jinnie and his “twin” too. Then when I watched interviews where Hyunjin said he was an only child I was like ???? but eventually I figured it out.

I thought the sunshine twins were legitimately twins (they are) . Like biologically. Wtf is up with me believing twin things??

At first, I could NOT for the life of me tell the difference between Lee Know and Jeongin. No joke thought they were the same person. Which looking back on this one… how could I ever have trouble with them? They literally look nothing alike in facial structure and sound completely different in the way they talk & sing. Only thing they’re the same in is their menace behavior. 

2. Favorite duo/ship?

Usually not a shipper type of person but in regard to favorite friendship dynamic in skz, it’s gotta be SeungChan. Just watch this and there’s my reason why. Jilix is a close second because, again, sunshine twins. Followed by MinChan because watching Lee Know with his only hyung is so precious.

3. Favorite Racha (or other mini group within the whole group)? 

MeanRacha (Minho, Seungmin, & I.N) One of these 3 is literally always up to something. Causing chaos when you least expect it. The phrase “Lee Know is linoing” has become a favorite of mine because it always means he’s doing some menace antics again.

4. Favorite unreleased song?

There was a song that Hyunjin and Chan recorded years ago that Chan supposedly lost. We got a snippet of it and when I heard it I went feral because like Red Lights part 2???! PLEASE I NEED THIS SONG LIKE I NEED AIR! Chan like wtf do you mean you lost the track?! FIND IT. RECORD IT AGAIN.

HEYDAY by 3racha. The whole song is a vibe but Jisung’s lazy rap when he first starts his part just does something to me 😩 

In regard to the whole group, I’d say the song 'YAYAYA' is one of my go-to jams from their older stuff. I love the tempo changes, scratches my brain in a good way.

Now as for the new album “ATE” this may be controversial to say but “I like it” is my favorite. It’s just so catchy!

6. Has your bias/bias line changed?

Since the last time I did this, yes and no? I mean as I’ve grown more as a stay I can confidently say OT8! But if I was forced to choose I say Hyunjin no surprise there and Minho.

Chan continues to wreck me every. single. day. Like it’s truly insane, that man KNOWS what he’s doing. I’d also like to add that I.N has been wrecking me left and right the last few months which I blame his hyungs for that.

Emotionally probably Changbin & Chan. From the glimpses we get of their true feelings & perspectives on things I relate to them the most. Honorable mention for this one will be Hyunjin because he’s such a romantic and I wanna say Seungmin too. I feel like before we didn’t get to see a lot of Seungmin ‘off camera’ per se, but with his [Song by] series we get to see more of his real personality and thoughts.

9. If you ever actually had the chance, who do you think you’d work out in a long-term relationship with (please remember the first rule of Kpop)? 

Probably, Changbin. Mans is a walking green flag. He’s a good listener, considerate of other’s feelings while still being honest. Always there for you. Funny af too. Overall, considering how I am as a person I think, Changbin would just be a good match for me. Like in my delulu brain me and Binnie would have that friends to lovers trope going for us. Even my dearest honey bun thinks so, she did write about it for me afterall💕

To keep it somewhat light in the kink department I’m going to go with hands. And a member to fit it the best, aka who I think has the most attractive hands will go to Jeongin. And on the topic of phones, because of his less than usual choice, literally no one has his number

Leah has to text him like “mom says dinner is ready in 10” or “dad told me to text you to please come home soon” stuff like that, and she’s so done with it

He somehow has everyone’s number though

You’ll randomly get a text if he needs you, and he never tells you who it’s from

He will literally text you “I’m in your house” without any disclosure

Maybe he’ll add a few blurry pictures of something in your house as well

Oh but if he’s actually trying to scare you, expect pictures he took of rotting roadkill or a bloody ziplock back or something he found

He just loves gore and violence <3

Another thing he really, really, enjoys is scaring people

He deliberately hides behind doors or curtains to scare his family, he’s also really good at just being super silent?

If he doesn’t want to be found, you’re not gonna find him

If you sleep over at his house and use the bathroom by his room to brush your teeth, the fucker will be standing behind you in the mirror when you come up from rinsing your mouth

He scares those he cares about, what can I say

Well he also scares everyone else, he’s kinda feral

As I said before, it’s not like he doesn’t socialise at all, bc like, he’s literally everyone’s dealer

MHA CREDITS TIER LIST FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH OPINIONS

Hey guys. I spent way too long making this. Here it is for you nerds who want to spend some time ranking your favorite intros and credits

Here is mine! (See below cut for in-depth analysis)

Season one intro one- THE DAY

A solid B tier. The song’s pretty good, alway jam out to the “meku meku” line (my personal fave.) An absolute classic but kind of basic compared to some others. I do love how it includes the whole class but so does every other one. Just average.

Season one credits one

C tier. The song is a pretty good jam but kind of basic and doesn’t go as all-out as some of the others. Pretty basic imagery too, but it’s the credits so it’s not supposed to be amazing. Just eh. Also idk about anyone else but I’ve always felt like the ending is super abrupt? Ever since I watched it the first time.

intro two

High C tier- okay I guess. I’ve listened to the whole song and me personally I think it’s just a case of them using too much of the boring part of it lmao. I know a lot of people like this one bc of Bakugo stretching and whatevs but the stretching part is sooo long and they’re all in these random places and when I was watching through the show I remember skipping this one a lot. It also just doesn’t go as hard as the other intros idk might just be me. Cool tokoyami moment in there though that’s worth mentioning.

Credits two

F tier. I know I KNOW it’s the girls and they’re hanging outtttttt and sad Ochacoooooo but it’s so boring I wanted to cry watching it on purpose it’s slow the song isn’t my taste it’s the opposite of my favorites and I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

Intro three

S TIER IT SO GOOD AGHHHH. The song is one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite I listen to it unironically the natewantstobattle version is so good I have it memorized, It has Kurogiri and Tokoyami. I love the part where the “ahahah” part happens as Gran Torino appears it’s just so goofy, the Stain imagery gets me every time it’s just UGH amazing.

Credits three

Another easy S tier. I love the creative world of it I love the part where Todoroi’s horse runs away I love Denki’s face at the end I love that Tokoyami’s riding a giant bird it’s just so visually interesting and I never skipped it because every time I would notice something new. Plus the song is awesome it has energy it has power it has a boppin guitar part it goes so damn hard it’s insane. Easily most captivating; it’s a crime we were robbed of it that one episode where they went to the mall I heard it in the bg but it’s not the same you can’t just scam me out of an episode I love this one.

Intro four

A solid A tier. I think it’s the absolute best they could have done with the song because you go and listen to the regular version of Odd Future and it’s honestly a mess all of the components are there but they’re just not utilized right imo? If that makes any sense? Anyway this adaptation of the song makes it so much better and the visuals are great all of the Shigaraki ones always get me & the All Might ones too for that matter. Really good intro it just doesn’t have me OBSESSED like some of the others do.

Credits four

D tier but only because the song is NOT WHAT I WOULD HAVE CHOSE. It’s so slow and quaint it kind of ruins the whole experience for me sadly :( The visuals in this one are like credits three, so much to see and really visually captivating. I love the comic-style pages and the sketches and all of the things they’re doing (there’s so much Tokoyami, Momo and Jiro were really cute, and there’s some plainclothes Aizawa in there.) The song honestly just saps so much away and if it was any better this would probably end up in A.

Intro five- Make My Story

B tier. Just a flat-out good intro. Nothing great, nothing terrible. The song is pretty good. New characters for the hero license arc. Inasa’s there and he’s my twin. Not a lot to say, it’s just pleasant.

Credits five

D tier. I remember nothing about this one and that honestly should tell me something. Not as flat-out bad as some of the other songs but also kind of slow. Tokoyami’s there. If anything this one just looked kind of goofy, especially when it was getting all emo with Deku and All Might walking. Very bland, but not terrible.

Intro six- Polaris

S TIERRR. A favorite to be sure, I have two dubbed versions of this song injected into my veins because they’re so oc-coded. One of its only crimes is that it’s not the entire song because the ending ROCKS SO HARD THE GUITAR IN THIS SONG IS SO GOOD. The visuals are good, Mirio Eri and Tamaki are there and I like them a lot :) honestly you could have anything going on in the background and I couldn’t care less, this song is SO GOOD. Also have to mention the obligatory anime intro falling in a void scene gotta love that.

Credits six

S tier. The song is a bop, the lore was dropped, it’s on top. I love just watching this one through because THE LOREEE and Eri is so adorable and the song??? It’s so good?? The violin is SHREDDING. My one complaint is that on spotify it’s always weirdly quiet but that’s not in the credits so who cares. Easily a favorite of mine.

Intro seven

A tier. Really fun visuals all the way through, I’ve been looking way too far into Aizawa and that sweater for four years,  it’s just aughhh so fun!! The song is pretty good, not a certified banger but still catchy. There’s LOREEE in this intro and I love parsing it out. You see everyone and there’s just so much care in every second! Just a plain good time :)

Credits seven

I AM CONFLICTED. The song is another of my least favorites, F tier song IMO, don’t come at me it’s just my preference. HOWEVER. I am in a very sticky spot, because this is one of the VERY few times in mha that we see my son my child my one and only Shirakumo and I love him and he’s there. Also baby Haws and teen Mirko and baby Mirio/Tamaki and it’s just another very interesting credits with a lot to see. I have decided I am rating these credits B tier but that one picture S tier and I take no notes. (When your favorite character shows up so few times you take what you can get.)

Intro eight

Easy A tier. It has Hawks, it has Tokoyami, it has Shinsou. Good visuals, good song (the guitar goes so hard don’t you get it.) Honestly this part of the show is where I started getting frustrated and tapping out so I didn’t know I would really harbor any nostalgia for this arc. I was surprised when this intro was so pleasant and nostalgic despite this arc being sooo boring. Good intro.

Credits eight

B tier. Cute, love seeing all the little friend groups, wish tokoyami was included in a friend group :( but we persevere. Love tokoyami with his apple, love Aoyama with his cheese, leaning into all of the classics and making me really just feel like “wow, this is MHA.” Nothing breathtaking or terrible. Just straight-up My Hero Academia.

Intro nine

Listen. I was prepared to rank this B or C because I love the song but the intro was trying a little too hard to be serious and not giving me enough of those things to look at and the class and all that. But then I saw and subsequently remembered the frame of Yamada and Aizawa with the cat and immediately changed my ranking to A tier because that IS A SHIRAKUMO REFERENCE. HE WAS NOT THERE BUT HIS PRESENCE WAS FELT. Plus tokoyami was there, hawks was there, the song really is a bop; I listen to it in my real life to get hyped up and energetic or to imagine fight scenes. It got 1-2 ranks higher because my pookie was there. Sometimes that’s how it goes.

Credits nine

Now this is where I REALLY start forgetting what the heck any of this is lmao. However this is Hawks’s moment he is shining in the spotlight so B tier for my boy. The song is mid, I do like how it’s “I will get you out of here” which is like in terms of him having to spy and his childhood so that’s pretty cool and edgy. I still get my fill of 1A, they’ve got their comfy clothes, they’re living it up. A solid credits scene! I wish Endeavor wasn’t in it.

Intro ten

I remember none of this :) However A tier becauseeeee AIZAWA AND YAMADA MAKE ANOTHER SHIRAKUMO REFERENCE you see they’re in the room where “Kurogiri” is trapped and that is where they realize he is in fact our boy my son Shirakumo and that immediately sells it. Also Hawks, also Miruko, also some unexpected awesome Twice and Toga?? A lot of fun things to see and I like that. Also a pretty good bop. Not necessarily an A tier one, but the rest pushes it up :) 

Credits ten

B tier. Song isn’t bad, has all my faves mentioned above, Twice and Toga in their dancing pose go so hard. The colors also go so crazy??? I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I do. Also, and this goes for the intro as well, there’s a lot of Midnight centering and knowing what happens I get it but also NOT COOL she was also an honorary dorkmigo :( and I do miss her. Oh man the cat could have been a Midnight reference too but that’s before she croaks so nah.

Intro 11

C tier. Didn’t hate it but kind of boring, no big lore or fun details really. The song was mid. They threw in baby Hawks to try and convince me but I’m tougher than that. All in all very emo and kinda bland but that’s when the show starts getting like that sooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Credits 11

B tier. “The story so far” ahh credits but the story so far is so much less bleak than how things are currently going. It was nostalgic to see all the stuff that happened because that’s the part of the show that really feels alive and like MHA to me. The song’s ok, visuals maybe a bit bland, but it has that feel of home. This is the MHA I like to remember.

Intro 12

C tier. The music is terrible. The voice is so nasal and the style makes me so anxious IMO it’s just not for me. However, they gave us a lot of stuff to look at with the crazy visuals. Obviously I’m mentioning the Shirakumo reference with Aizawa Yamada and “Kurogiri” (guys he’s not kurogiri guys that’s wrong.) Also amputee Miruko with her short hair is GORGEOUS she looks so pretty. If only this was a bop, it would have been easy A tier. (can you tell I’m losing patience with this show??)

Intro 13

Striker - Ultrapower

Something I say a lot is “less is more,” meaning that I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles to be impressed by a band. Oftentimes when bands throw in either more songs or more sounds, it usually tends not to work. Parts of their sound can get lost in the shuffle, and as great and unique as the album may be, it doesn’t resonate as well with me. A lot of progressive rock and metal bands make me feel that way, because they focus on wanting to be unique and off the wall, versus writing a good and accessible song. A lot of progressive bands can get to the point of self-indulgent and pretentious, and I don’t want to say that the album I’ll be talking about gets to that point, but it gets close. Before I get to that, we need to introduce the album we’ll be discussing today, and that’s the new album from heavy metal band Striker, entitled Ultrapower. This album came out a few weeks ago, but I’ve only listened to it over the last few days, and I decided that I wanted to talk about it.

These guys are a band that I’ve known about and have listened to before, but this is their first album in six years. Their sound has been a mixture of classic traditional heavy metal of the 1980s, AOR, and pop-metal, and they’re one of the better bands doing it. Their last album, Play To Win, was more of a pop-metal album, and I remember it was good, despite nothing worthwhile. Ultrapower is a step up from that record, especially for its sound. This album combines a lot of stuff together, including heavy metal, thrash metal, speed metal, metalcore, AOR, power metal, and even more stuff. See what I mean about this album being a lot? It’s not that it’s bad, or that it isn’t done well, because the thing with this album that frustrates me is that there’s almost too many things that this album tries. That makes me harken back to what I said in the beginning that less is more sometimes, especially when the main core of this band is great. When it comes to their traditional heavy metal sound, it rules. Their vocalist is one of the best in the genre, they’ve got hooks, riffs, and solos for days, and they’re so fun and goofy without feeling like parody.

It’s when the band goes into other styles, or throws in some random moment of another genre that throws me off a bit, and makes the album just feel too stuffed, despite only being 42 minutes. This album isn’t long, but it has a lot of ideas jam packed into it. It’s all done well, but the album never takes a breath with how energetic, off the wall, and intense it gets. You’re just constantly hit with a barrage of riffs, solos, and hooks that sound great, but it becomes a lot after awhile. This album never becomes pretentious or annoying, but it could use a breath or two, and it could have used a trim when it comes to the amount of styles it utilized. I really enjoyed this album, though, and if you want some unique heavy metal with a lot of flavor and some great hooks, you won’t be disappointed. This album is a bit much at times, though, and if it didn’t have so much crammed into it, I’d probably like it a lot more.
