I saw a post the other day that showed Scully had Mulder’s fish tank in her apartment during season 9. But I like to imagine that after our heroes went on the lam and by the time their loved ones had to have known, Skinner called Maggie and asked her to keep the fish at her house because yes, it would be logical since he has a small place, but also because he knew Mulder needed a mother to watch over something of his that he loved. Maggie would agree without hesitation. Her daughter had already done it. So she would keep the lantern lit because she’d known since meeting him that she had three sons. And that he would be important in the long run. What do you think?

Oh, Maggie Scully definitely took the fish. I think the reasons were sentimental and practical. The fish are living things and of course she doesn't leave them behind. But also, she remembers how much William loved watching them, how much they meant to Mulder, and how her daughter sometimes fed them with a certain sadness hanging over them, missing Mulder.

There's some dude (derogatory) on FB who is PISSED people are pricing their farm fresh eggs at $2 and $3 a dozen instead of $4+, saying it's "disrespectful" and "undignified" and "I'm trying to feed my kids" like Sir, you are on a Facebook group page bitching about your neighbors egg prices because your pet chickens aren't earning you a living wage and you think it's your neighbors' fault, you do not have a leg to stand on here wrt dignity.

Also half the answers are like "I give them to friends and family free" or "I donate them to food banks" or "I'm making them affordable to folks who might not otherwise be able to get them now that they're so expensive in the store" and "if you think you're going to turn a profit keeping backyard chickens you have been wildly misled" and so on, and so forth, and I'm so living for it.

and I can tell you right now, he did NOT like my answer of "if you're trying to feed your kids, I hear eggs are edible."

#chickens #like buddy you are never going to actually make a profit #and if by some miracle you do #it's going to be VERY SMALL #Considering the money you put into building or buying a coop #plus feed and bedding and equipment (waterers feeders perches etc) costs #egg cartons and enrichment and gas to go get the feed #the cost you (personally) probably put into building the egg stand you mentioned #a 50lbs bag of feed will feed 12 adult chickens for 8 days #12 chickens generally lay 6-12 eggs per day #usually less in the fall and may even stop in winter #a 50lb bag of feed is usually $12-15 #and you wasted the first 6 months going eggless until they were old enough to lay #and that doesn't factor in oyster shell or anything else you may need to do for them #like worming or treating for coccidia or anything #and doesn't take into account your time #like asjh;dsfkgdh you really thought you were gonna make a buck doing this???#wank for ts

It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus

#yesterday i made a complainy post about a whale edit having people confused about whale sharks and orcas' dolphin and whale identity #but honestly i cant even hold these things against someone. its confusing that whale sharks are called with two different animal names!#and if you only know about the whale dolphin porpoise divide then you may not know that dolphins and porpoises and others are toothed whale #i dont think anyone is actually stupid for not having this information preinstalled in their brains #if anything it makes me happy to get to explain things because i love explaining things that i know :D #however... this #it just makes me sad :(#its so weird when this whole thing is subjected towards OTHER VERTEBRATES too like fish or reptiles or amphibians #like man.... you are a fish. your ancestors were buddy buddy (or actually probably enemy enemy) with the ancestors of these guys #fish are like a whole other class of animal to a lot of people dont even get me started #they never get the same protections as mammals or birds do even if they are just as or more endangered #mmmmm i wont rant now #biology
