Ok, this solely depends if this is regular sagau or if this is my interpretation of cult au where the reader is a god who has existed since immemorial. If this is regular sagau the acolytes will lean into the idea of being your possible consort since you seem human despite the claims that you are the primordial god who created the universe. Some of the bolder acolytes like Venti, Childe, Kaeya, and Kaveh will be open about their attempts to woo you. While others like Xiao, Diluc, Rosaria, and Raiden Ei will be subtle with their approach.

While the big reason for wanting to be with you is because they (obsess over you) love you, some also like it for political power and the status that comes with being your lover. It would be easier to control and manipulate the people who aren't there for business to stay away from you, making it easier to cut off your personal ties and isolate you from everybody. Some examples of acolytes who would do this are Ayato, Zhongli, and Ningguang.

Poor reader, whatever profession they had in their old life wouldn't compare to their new life being the ruler of all of Teyvat. Your workload would double because of your followers trying to win your hand in marriage (that you never wished for). Some of your acolytes like Aether and Wanderer would try to reach out to you and convince you to take a break with them and steal you away to travel. Meanwhile, the others like Albedo, Ganyu, and Ayaka who promised to help you lessen your work will wonder where you left and notify the others of your disappearance.

Your obliviousness doesn't help in the acolyte's cases, and even some considered just yelling to you that they wanna (fuck you) marry you. But some are patient and will take their time in making you realize that their intentions are far from platonic and that they are more suited to be your partner. Ngl some of your acolytes might die in this situation since some of the characters will play dirty if it means they get to be your partner in the end.

Now, onto (my version of) Cult AU darling...

Cult AU darling has a bigger advantage here since 1. they have powers. and 2. they are one of the gods who existed before time so managing Teyvat is nothing to them. I would like to think in this case most of the acolytes would hesitate on courting you since, well, your YOU. You're the personification of life and death, your knowledge of the world exceeds every one. But there will still be some acolytes who will try to court you despite this fact.

Shenhe would be one of the followers who despite knowing she will never be your partner, will try to win your favor by being as helpful as possible to you. Every time you visit the adepti she would be right beside you waiting for your every order. Noelle is similar to her but she takes it to the next level, every lunch break she brings you a cup of freshly brewed coffee along with some of Monstadt's delicacies.

I feel like you wouldn't be oblivious in this situation since you are literally an omniscient/omnipotent god, but you just decide to ignore their advances. Which doesn't hurt any less for your followers. Some of the followers like Tighnari or Jean will cover up the hurt by working, but it seems almost impossible to not acknowledge the gaping hole in their hearts. But they understand.

Lovers are supposed to be the other's pillar for support, but your responsibilities as the god of Teyvat are too heavy for anyone to bear other than you. Lovers are supposed to have knowledgeable conversations with one another, nobody can match your knowledge of the universe other than yourself. Lovers are supposed to protect one another, you can easily defeat everyone without anyone's help. You can't possibly be anyone's match unless you duplicate yourself then it might be possible.

But you shouldn't underestimate their determination, some will try to look for ways to ascend beyond the heavens so they can be equal to you.

Natsu does NOT have any previous experience with romantic love

This is the (better) Tumblr version of my post from Twitter. Given the format of this website, I'll add some details to what's already written.

Before starting with this, I want to clarify that the motivation to write this post has little to do with nalu itself (it will be mentioned to highlight a point though). Having previous romantic partners DOESN'T really make any ship invalid. You'll find the actual reason behind this essay under the cut below.

This is about how Natsu, as a character, is never presented or seen by others as someone who has experience with love and such idea is never hinted or implied anywhere in the canon material. This lack of experience explains why Lucy thinks he has no interest in it.

As we will see later, Lucy isn't the only one who thinks like this... Let's get started.

Year 2024. Why writing all this? Some weeks ago I was involved in a discussion about whether Natsu was being OOC during a filler (non canon) scene of the anime where he snaps at Lucy in a way he never does with any of his friends in canon material. The discussion led to this...

I didn't want to assume that this person was taking Lisanna as some kind of first love. At the end it turned out that was exactly what was happening. The proof? The most platonic reunion ever... with Happy reacting the same way as Natsu and comedy being included. It is important to highlight that Mashima never makes two people between whom there have been romantic feelings reunite like this, with comedy references in between that downplays the seriousness of the moment to some extent. While this post is about Natsu and his feelings, I could also mention Lisanna's reaction to this, something that proves that there wasn't even a one sided love: after noticing this Natsu is the same one from her real dimension, she doesn't start crying because of him but because of her siblings.

Let's ignore the part where this dude started calling me and some other users "retards" because that speaks volumes for itself about his lack of real arguments. After all, he has been fighting for at least 4 years with teens over power scaling, a topic he may seem to be knowledgeable about but actually isn't so much, plus he has been banned from at least one Discord server because of his r4pe threats. It seems this individual was so obsessed with that specific thing that he said Zeref did it to Mavis and that's how August was made... That also speaks volumes about his media literacy and the fact that even if it's true that he did read the manga so many times as he claimed during this discussion, he has serious problems with reading as a normal person. When it comes to the topic of this post, the problem is that he has some influence within the fandom, at least on Twitter, so whatever he says is something that many of his followers will start repeating.

What does Mashima do when Lisanna finally comes back to her original home and she gets a proper reunion with everyone?

After the initial shock from seeing Edo Lisanna in Earthland and the big reveal, this is how Natsu reacts.

This isn't a reunion that suggests that Lisanna is special compared to everyone else in the guild, and particulary to those who grew around Natsu. Also, we can't say Mashima just doesn't know how to write such scene properly... because he's written it at least once (in Rave).

The emotion you can feel in this scene, the way ONLY both lovers are on the spotlight and the rest of their friends are in the background until the end... Well, the difference is so obvious that it's ridiculous to say more. Given how well Mashima handles the emotional dimension of his characters in his mangas, the possibility that he didn't know how to depict two lovers who got separated from each for some time due to circumstances beyond their control is off the table.

Also, notice how the end of the Edolas arc depicts this.

The difference with her reunion with Natsu and the others is so obvious that there's no need to say more.

We can also discard Lisanna as a former love interest because there's no akwardness between them once she's back to the guild. They can be seen playing together and briefly interacting from time to time, so it's not like they're avoiding each other.

Is it implied somewhere that they had something beyond friendship? Not in any kind of canon material. Every time Lisanna is mentioned in regards to Natsu she's presented as a close childhood friend. We have, for example, her profile from one of the first chapters where she's back home and the information of the official magazine that was released 10 years ago.

But what if they simply stopped loving each other due to being separated, as a fellow nalu shipper told me on Discord? Making characters fall out of love is something that Mashima also references (see Macao pic a bit below). It also goes against what we saw regarding Erza and Jellal, who still had romantic feelings for each other despite their antagonistic positions for many years, or against the whole Zeref and Mavis thing. In other Mashima mangas we have more couples like this. Elsie and Justice still loved each other despite being sworn enemies, and Let still loved Julia (and vice versa) when he discovered she was alive, a kinda similar scenario to Natsu and Lisanna if they had been lovers. Given that Natsu and Lisanna weren't even enemies to each other at any point and they were only separated for two years, we can't say they had something canonically and they simply got over it with no actual reference to it.

There was a very good moment to reference past feelings in 100YQ: when Touka includes Lisanna in the group of women "around Natsu".

Instead of offering us a comment like "it's not like that anymore", Lisanna just says something that implies they're not that close. After all, Natsu is hanging out with his team most of the time since it was established.

What's the reason this fandom has been so many years discussing about this friendship? Because the first anime adaptation goes beyond that friendship and the manga omake where both of them take care of Happy's egg, something Lisanna decides to help with because she loves animals and she felt Natsu wouldn't do it properly. The first season includes several fillers that pave the way for a love triangle, presenting Lisanna as a girl who is VERY interested in marrying Natsu when they're adults. In addition, Happy is presented as their son, something that totally goes against the source material. Even if Natsu is the one who saw Happy be born and was living with him since then, Happy is never considered as his son and is always called a nakama/companion/friend.

This long thread has everything that A-1 and Satelight added in regards to Natsu and Lisanna. As we can see in the info provided in one of the first tweets, Mashima let them "edit" the story the way they wanted to and it's mentioned explicitely by both him and Ishihara (the director) that Ishihara is responsible for those additions, not Mashima. We also can't say the additions were something Mashima asked for because he couldn't include everything he wanted in his manga for some reason. This is supported by the fact that Lisanna is never presented in the manga as any kind of romantic interest after she comes back.

There's also this tweet from 2012 where Mashima replied to someone asking him whether he was involved in the story of the anime. His answer is no.

It's also important to say that these fillers aren't canon: they're not referenced in the source material (the starry key arc was, even if Mashima wasn't involved in the writing), they're not referenced in the anime itself after Lisanna comes back and they have no impact in the events of the story during and after Edolas.

Currently, thanks to Mashima's Twitter Spaces, we know two things: he revived Lisanna because some people in the anime staff liked her (Ishihara is one of them for sure), which explains why she's not very relevant and is always tied to her siblings, and he once considered to include a love triangle between Natsu, Lucy and Lisanna after Edolas, but he liked Natsu and Lucy's dynamic by then enough to not introduce such storyline. He also said Lisanna was "だめ" in regards to that triangle that never came to be, implying that she would have been the one that doesn't get the boy in that scenario.

So is Lisanna our supposed former love interest? As far as the canon material goes, no. Was she close to Natsu? Yes. Is she dear to him? Yes, just like everyone in his family, the guild, is (I can't believe I'm writing this in fking 2024). Now, what if there was someone else? The assumption that characters may have dated another (unnamed) character offscreen isn't totally crazy. After all we saw how Juvia dated Bora, even if it was a narrative tool to show that not even dates would make Juvia stop being depressed. However, we can't say there was someone else as more than a headcanon unless it's implied or mentioned somewhere explicitely. We know Macao was married but got divorced thanks to the official magazine, for example.

When it comes to Natsu, nothing is ever mentioned.

100YQ, the official FT sequel, has several pannels that go against the whole idea of Natsu being experienced with romantic love. As I mentioned at the beginning, even others from the guild, and especifically Macao in this pannel, who knows Natsu since he was a kid, have a hard time believing he's interested in love.

This part of the story includes a very interesting pannel that also debunks the whole idea that Natsu felt more than frienship for Lisanna before she was transported to Edolas.

Why would Lisanna's brother react like this over such comment if Natsu and his sister had romantic feelings in the past? Easy: because those feelings never existed.

Even Lisanna is a bit surprised when Touka expresses her interest in him.

Previous romantic experience would also mean that Natsu's relationship with Lucy would be more advanced than it is as of now, not to mention this recent scene.

Natsu is still quite dense with romance, even when it doesn't involve him, and while he talks about his and Lucy's kids they still have a long way to go due to his total inexperience in this area as of now. Someone with past love experiences wouldn't be like this. I could say more about this but this isn't the post for it so...

Conclussion: the first season of the anime did a lot of damage that resulted in many years of discussions, fights, misogyny towards both Lucy and Lisanna. There was no childhood or teen love, no jealousy from Lisanna when she saw how close Natsu and Lucy were as a team and nothing suggests that Lisanna was more than a friend in canon material. Claiming the opposite at this point of the story is useless.

I just wanted to ramble for a moment on what I think the different dynamics between characters would be in the Gunntech AU with Luna.

Greg and Luna: They are besties for the resties, and talk a lot. It’s a very cute platonic relationship ship.

Connor and Luna: They’re like really petty siblings who argue a lot, then make up.

Amaya and Luna: These two are an adorable mix of Adora and Catra, and Luz and Amity. Friends to Enemies to Lovers stuff.

Nori and Luna: Partners in crime to the end. They steal stuff together on a daily basis, and the ninjalinos have started calling Luna their older sister.

Romeo and Luna: Romeo loves experiments, Luna hates them. I imagine they disliked each other during their time at Gunntech, tolerated each other as villains, and during the later seasons absolutely despised each other.

All friendships in the "pantheon" have such different vibes. Like—

Regulus and Pandora were soulmates. They always so easy together. She always telled, he always listened. They complemented each other. They dreamed of running away as much as they dreamed of staying. They shared each other's joys and sorrows and when it was bad with the family and scars healed too long, they always had each other.

Regulus and Dorcas were comrades in misfortune, falling in love with gryffindors, so differently but also so the same. They found each other's eyes across the hall, when they heard something interesting, knowing that then they would share this information with each other. They shared secrets with each other, talked about fellings, talked about things that they never talked about with others. They talked at night, when Pandora fell asleep. They were platonically in love with all of them, wanting to admire from the side and be inside at the same time, dying from a tenderness that they had never felt before.

Dorcas and Pandora were best friends. Yin and yang, oil and water, fire and ice, and and everything like that. Little lovers before and absolutely friendly loving each other now. They always held hands, talked a lot, braided each other's hair, read books aloud, telling about favorite stories. They are the only thing left of each other at some point. And then everything was lost. And they lost themselves, lost each other.

Dorcas and Barty are absolutely another persons. They were a couple in other's eyes, they were "familiars in the same social circle" in each other eyes, scaring to accept they were a more than familiars, they were a friends. Oh, more than anything she hated the fact she missed him when he joined to deatheaters. She hated that she thought about them, thought about him, when she died. She thought that they were a more than just familiars, their consersations were rare, but their friendship was bright, but so short, like a match, that it burns brightly and quickly burns out. They found a common language almost the last, they did not have decades, but this “something” was woven from moments that filled the void in her heart while she bled, regretting nothing.

Dorcas and Evan were each other's favorites. More words about love, about relationships, more tenderness, less tactility, because she really doesn't like hugs (with someone who is not pandora), respect for each other's personal boundaries at the highest level, yet there seems to have never been any distance between them. They were close, they were closer than with somebody other, but also they were ones whose connection was never caught. Platonic soulmates, who never truly hated each other, ending up tearing each other's soul to shreds.

Pandora and Evan were siblings. Literally. They had problems, but they were always good to each other. He would have died protecting her, she would have died protecting him, and that was all of them. Hand in hand, together from the first day, twins, their faces are identical, their characters are incredibly different. They were two sides of the same coin, they were halves of each other, so that one of them dreamed and the other interpreted, they always went in pair, never separately. When one of them died, the other was never complete again.

Pandora and Barty were the ones who don't think they could get along at all. But they got along. And it was silent contempt from the first seconds and unconditional support when it was needed. They were rivals in the final scores, overtaking each other in turns because their brains could hold an incredible amount of information, and were friends in everything else. They shared with each other laugh and tears they, shared problems and achievements, and it felt right. Then, looking at the Luna, seeing Pandora in her... It's never been easy. It's like you always knew your best friend was at arm's length, but you could never catch him, really.

Evan and Barty were friends. No, it's not true. They weren't friends. They were a couple, lovers, husbands. Anyone but friends. Their love was capable of burning forests and draining the seas, it was passion and tenderness, it was painful and it was pleasant at the same time. They were dramatic, bickering and screaming, smashing dishes, kissing in the rain and in dark alleys, hugging each other like it was their last time. They were careful, examining each other's bodies, looking into each other's souls. They were... everything for each other. It killed them in the end. Their love was destructive and Barty never knew how to let go.

And now Mc doesn't just have to mourn the loss of the person they loved but they also have to marry the man who killed them. For the rest of Mc's life, they have to look at the face of the person who slaughtered their love.

Maybe Mc imagined how their life would be when it was over and they could marry their significant other, just to be forced to marry their murderer instead.

And Arthur has no idea why his fiance looks at him with such intense burning hatred each time their eyes meet, or why they avoid him like the plague, why they turn away from any affection of his, platonic or otherwise.

Yeah, he sort of sprung to life yesterday in the depths of my discord convos and I've been clawing at the walls ever since. I had another ask about him yesterday I didn't get around to, so here we are finally.

DILF!Karasu in a nutshell:

— He has long hair streaked with grey. <3 He likes to tie it in a messy bun to keep it out of his face when he's working.

— He's a bit more indulgent and relaxed. He sticks to business casual and more comfortable fashion. He works from home most days so he doesn't have to wear suits as often.

— He has more relationship experience. He's had a couple serious relationships in his past but the last one ended so badly that he's basically accepted that he's stuck as a bachelor with an empty nest. </3

— He's friends with Mammon but he tends to embody the older sibling role. Mammon is still protective of him and tries to play matchmaker, he knows what a catch that old bird is.

— He's more confident overall. He's friendly in a detached sort of way until he gets to know someone. He's experimented with his romantic/sexual boundaries and interests which makes the friends to lovers transition less clumsy. He's prefers to take the lead (think pleasure dom).

— He's motivated by his desire to provide for a partner/mate. He's still not interested in casual sex. A sugar daddy arrangement with someone for non-sexual/platonic company is something he would be hypothetically interested in. He won't actively seek out someone just for this purpose but if it happens naturally somehow, well...

How Platonic/Familial Yandere Overwatch characters react to you wanting/having a significant other

Howdy! In the wake of my switch not having enough storage to play Overwatch anymore, I’ve finally had the inspiration to write about it!

I definitely intend to write this scenario with other characters, these are just all the ones that I had immediate ideas for, send in an ask if you have a specific character you want in the next one!

As always, (but hopefully not for too much longer 🤞) I have no real academic or professional teaching in writing, so all criticism is welcomed

If you ever want to bring someone home, he'll greet them warmly with a subtle demonstration of his military experience.

He really, really wants you to think he’s cool and chill despite his obsession, so he keeps the worst of his dark feelings under lock and key

If this is a group yandere situation (which tbh I always picture it to be) it can almost be a nice balance

The others go off and deal with intruding party, while she stays home and makes sure you’ll regret ever even thinking of dating someone

Eventually, she’ll get tired of fighting with you over some extra and she’ll remove them from your life by force

While she’s not above outright killing them, there’s other routes she can go down first, like accusing them of a crime to get them locked up

She’s a valuable military asset and an immensely popular public figure; who are the people gonna believe?

Unlike YanBro!Lucio, she doesn’t accept you crying over the loss, and she’ll even twist things to make you feel like it was your fault

Ashe honestly thinks she’s being pretty open and nice about it, letting you date people at all was something she had to take a LOT of time to come to terms with

Your silent chaperone tries his best to not make you uncomfortable, but he can’t exactly hide his massive stature, so whoever you date is just gonna have to be chill with him forever

And by forever, I mean FOREVER - you could be a whole married adult and YanMama!Ashe would still have him checking on you every time you left the house together

Internally, she’ll always be quite conflicted about letting you go around with random partners

She’ll do a lot of wistfully gazing out the window, dramatically sighing as she awaits her child’s return

I honestly picture her a bit hopeless outside of violence and business dealings, and she just doesn’t know how to express the deep sorrow in her heart without making you hate her

She get almost weirdly happy if your partner does something cruel to you, it gives her an excuse to take out some pent-up anger on a nobody

That’s not to say she won’t comfort you; there’ll be lots snuggles and forehead kisses as she reminds you that she’ll always be here for you

She might be crying more than you over the idea of you being hurt

“Don’t worry about a thing, darling! Me and BOB are gonna have this all sorted out, you just sit pretty for us, alright?”

There's nothing 'just' about platonic love

So so so tired of seeing romance written in a story and reading 'they weren't just friends... they were more' it makes me want to throw up

Platonic love is so underappreciated (if you've ever had a real friendship breakup you're probably able to sympathize more to my plight lol) and I need more friends living together forever not because the 'romance' thing didn't work out but because they saw each other and thought: this is it for me. This is the person I want to spend my life with.

I need more people who are put in the position of choosing between their best friend and their lover to choose their best friend without a moment of hesitation not because the lover is an asshole or because they don't love them with their whole heart and everything within them but because they love their best friend with their whole heart and every breath of their lungs and every fiber of their being

If a person has a child or a sibling? It's totally fine for them to pick family first, but as soon as it's family they chose (best friends usually) - suddenly a romantic partner is always going to go first? It's just so disappointing!

And it's not even me being against romantic love! I love my ships and romance is just so beautiful and alluringl but-

I need more romantic love that doesn't downplay platonic love!

Its like everything changed and yet nothing changed at all because the love can't possibly get any deeper, yet the things I wanted to do to him to show that love moved slightly to the left in my brain, like a shifted gear. It's the strangest thing- how romance can sneak up on you."

Summary: You can love others in more than one way, and that means your romantic love isn't 'more' than platonic. It simply means that you love them in a new, different way. I suppose best friends to lovers is a favorite of mine because written nicely, it means they love each other twice
