On that note his relationship with kakashi. Like that's his little brother figures sensei, and he was a shizun in his last life, he knows what it is to be a good teacher and kakashi in the early series is not that. If he also knew Obito and knows that that's his eye in kakashi's head? Oof.

I think Houhua has an unusually difficult time manifesting anything w his eyes just bc of the emotional walls he has up between him and everyone around him. He does not allow himself to feel deeply for anyone enough for his eyes to be affected, no matter how fond he may grow of them. There is always a wall between him and the world.

Houhua is a bit too old and way too clever for Danzo's liking. hHis one only saving grace is that, on the surface at least, he's a fuckin worm of a boy and has literally no achievements other than having survived Itachi

He isn't worth getting rid of yet, but Danzo has an eye on him, just waiting for a reason to potentially knock him off.

Good think Houhua decided not to go the child prodigy route!! Putting his own flaws and weaknesses on blast to all of Konoha probably saved his fucking ass with Danzo. At least for now, anyways.

Daughter of Sunfall and a wanderer which keeps her as the sister of Lionheart. Her mentor was Pineheart tho and him leaving hurt her A LOT. Fueled by a mix of self hatred, bullying by her new mentor Thistleclaw, and him leaving she starts hating outsiders. When she’s just brought into camp the prophet Goosefeather receives a vision of her bathed in dawn light on one side and the other covered in blood, this about the way she could’ve been.

At the beginning of the story as Bon comes into camp she is a scratched queen with a swollen flank but battle hungry look in her eyes. She had just come back from a battle with the unconscious deputy Splotchedtail in her jaws. He soon ends up dying but Spottedleaf finds a lily petal in his mouth clueing her in on his true murderer

LOTS OF REPRESSED LESBIANISM. The clans at this time are a little sexist, have a lot of double standards, super xenophobic, and push a heteronormative idea on most cats. In a better life where she was taught or had some cat to guide her she could’ve been much more of a code changer like Bon but instead she followed the trail of tragedy. Her and Spottedleaf flirt a lot, but Lilyclaw always leaves feeling trapped in her partnership with the still undecided mate of hers.

Soon she has Lynxkit (Swiftkit) and Leopardkit (OG Lynxkit) named for the powerful cats and after her foster mom Leoaprdfoot. Sadly Leopardkit dies soon after complications caused by her fighting while so pregnant, and Lynxkit barely makes it. She is angry grieving mother and Bon ends up overhearing the fight she has with Spottedleaf.

Her ideology is based on wanting a better world where she can be free but also hating it from her past traumas. She wants the clans to fuse so more cats like her with a mixed blood can be seen as just as good but also being aggressive towards half blooded cats for the aggression she faced for her parentage. Hypocrite on purpose.

At some point when she’s joined Star Leopardstrike she has Moth, Hawk and Tadpole who are all renamed. Can’t decide if she has them with Leopard as a symbolism of their pact or some other cat. Either way the kits are just older then newborns when Lilyclaw has the battle that ends her life. They still become rogues tho after a raid is done on Riverclan by a group of Bloodclan cats including Sasha but they are tracked down and taken back, over this time the river floods on their way back and Tadpole dies.

She was never given 9 lives. While Starclan is very nuanced in this they do not want the clans to unite so they refuse her. The note of Scourge dying bc of their atheism is instead towards her as Starclan says Lilyclaw has no extra lives. She’s ripped in half in the fight after far for blood is spilt, taking Fireheart’s live that canon Scourge did and dying to the two brothers attacking her. Scourge gets their iconic kill by splitting her from throat to tail a move so horrific it spawns many tales, writings, and depictions for many generations.

From her death, carnage, and death she brought to the clans she did cause change but not by her owns paws. But instead by the paws of the cats who destroyed her. Her daughter Dawnclaw takes her suffix and spreads the other side of her mother that was fiercely loving, powerful, and so so hurt. She is one of the strongest voices to never let a cat with so much potential to be powerful go down a bloodied path like that.

TW: burn wound, strong pain

When the Yunmeng Jiang Clan was attacked and taken over by the Wen Clan, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Yanli, and their brother Jiang Cheng were on the run. Wen Chao had made no secret of it that all three had fleed and had to be found immediately.

The whole cultivation world has been in chaos since the Qishan Wen Clan roamed the streets, destroying any clan that was even remotely against them without blinking an eyelid. The consequences for anyone who tried to defend themselves against the Wen Clan were fatal. Unfortunately, this has also affected the Jiang Clan and the now three siblings on the run. 

Like so many in the Wen Clan, you couldn't help but move along with them. You were born into the medical family in the clan and often helped your cousin Wen Qing and spent time with Wen Ning. He was only two years younger than you. All three of you weren’t particularly fond of how Wen Chao did deal with the whole situation but you had no other chance but to obey the orders, mostly because just like Wen Qing, you helped her protect Wen Ning who to you was just like a brother as well.

It had been a rather quiet week for the three of you when suddenly the doors opened and three people stood in the middle of Wen Qing’s property.  You had just created a few remedies when none other than Wei Wuxian, followed by his sister and Jiang Cheng, who appeared badly injured, appeared loudly and threatening. 

Wen Qing seemed to be in control when you took care of Yanli. It seemed like she was a little weak so you gave her some medicine to strengthen her immune system and told her to take a rest for the day being. If she needed something, she could rely on you and ask for your help. You ended up talking to her and found out that both of you had quite a lot in common, turns out just like her, you weren’t so much into cultivation either, in fact your cultivation was low and you barely followed your interest in it. You were more of  a reserved person, calm as most would describe you, introverted and quiet. You worked behind the scenes and were quietly aknowledged for your wisdom regarding poison and antidotes.

Leaving to prepare more medicine and helping Wen Ning cook, you learned that Wen Zuhliu has taken Jiang Chengs golden core which made you drop your current pot of boiling water burning yourself in the process. Wen Ning gently and quietly took care of your hand as you joined Qing for dinner. Talking about the passed day and what happened.

You were discussing the biggest issue at hand while Ning was quietly listening, slurping his soup. “ Is there a solution to Young Master Jiang’s issue? Is there a way to restore his golden core? ” You asked your cousin wondering if something like this was possible. The hope you had was taken from you when your cousin explained that it wasn’t possible but young master Wei would not stop searching for a cure.

The next morning was your usual daily routine. You woke up, read through some books, prepared some medicine for Yanli and worked on more antidotes and poisons, liquid, powder and pills, even some scented sachets to help you walk through poisoned fog without losing your mind completely until noon hit. You were instructed to bring some soup for Jiang Cheng. Holding the dark tray with some freshly cooked notorious soup in your hands you over heard the conversation of the two brothers inside the room. Not keen on eavsdropping you waited and listened anyway.

“Did you feel it? ---- “ A deep voice filled with sadness spoke quietly, as if he knew all hope was lost. “Feel what?“ Another asked curiously as he waited for an answer. “Well, I used all my spiritual power...“ Silence, followed by holding your breath before he continued as you listened quietly behind the door. “..in that palm. So, did you feel it? ---- “  He repeated his question. Listening, knowing he had lost his golden core made you uncomfortable. You could care less about your own golden core and spiritual power as you did not particularly need it for what you were studying but in his voice alone you could hear the silence of defeat. There was no more will in his tone. 

“ Well, do it again. Hit me again. “ Wei Wuxian spoke, trying to reassure his brother, but he only refused. “ No need. It’s the same, no matter how many times I hit you. --- Wei Wuxian, do you know how Core Melting Hand gets his title? “ Cheng continued, voice steady but without any melody. “Because he can use his hands to crush another person’s golden core. ---- Whoever is hit by him can never form his core and will become an ordinary man after losing your spiritual power. “ Their conversation went on but your thoughts kept spinning. You only ever heard highly of this young masters reputation. He was  arrogant and overconfident and exceptionally handsome, however, as to what you heard he seemed broken, not ready to be an ordinary man, as if it was the death sentence. It probably was the worst for any great cultivator to become ordinary, to become just a human being.  

As you listened he got louder, talking about how Wen Zuhliu had taken their parents live and you immediately felt bad for the actions of the Wen Clan. You knew the situation was bad, but hearing things from the ones you helped while being a Wen yourself made you realize how much you truly did dislike being part of the cultivation world. With a quiet sigh you walked in, speaking up calmly, pretending you did not hear a word of what had been spoken you put the soup down on the table. “Hello young Master Wei. Young Master Jiang. --- Wen Qing instructed me to bring some soup for young master. ” You explained simply, bowed and left quickly.

The conversation you had been part of, if so secretly, had bothered you for the rest of the day until late night where eventually you got up and went to the study, looking and reading through the books, trying to figure out how to restore ones golden core after losing it. You could do only so much as to let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing your tired eyes. A sense of deep fault started to brew in your chest, being regretful as to what your clan had done wrong. This would hunt you for generations, if there would be anyone left. 

You soon found out that  Wei Wuxian had the same thoughts as you. By any means you did not know any of the Jiang Clan family members, but after a long talk with Master Wei, you could eventually persuade him to let you help him find a solution to the problem until Qing, you and Wuxian were arguing as to why it was not possible to transfer one golden core to another person. The chances were low, one must have luck on their side for it to work but at some point the desicion had been made, nevertheless, it had taken lots of time for Wen Qing to be coaxed into this plan. You were fast to offer your core for the transplant and an explanation was barely needed, you only spoke a few words that night.

“ I barely cultivate. My core might not be the strongest but it is not the weakest either. I do not care for cultivation, I do not need to to study medicine, to make pills and antidotes for the poison I creat. ---- Besides, my family has created enough damage. Master Wei, I shall give Young Master Jiang my golden core. ---- “ 

The plan was easy. He had to follow a path up the hill where he would meet his brother’s mother Master who could restore his golden core by pretending to be Wei Wuxian, the pupils son. What you had not calculated was the never ending pain you went through for the next few days. The burning fire that went from your core all the way through your veins, on the edge of fainting every possible second, but that would mean, the moment you lost control of that, of your conciousness, was a lost core for another. You hanged in there with all your might to the point where you cried out of pain, a sound you never thought you could make would rip through the room. Your own sweat burning your eyes as you fought yourself, your vision soon had gone blurry from the dizziness in your head, the stinging pain in your head making you nauseous. It felt like as if you were torn apart from the inside, the pain was to another extend, something you could not explain in words, something no one could ever feel no matter how they would be tortured. You only had to withstand one more night and it was over and you could rest. Just one more night and the transfer of the golden core would be succsessful and you could lead a normal ordinary live.

TIME SKIP - THE TRUTH

You have lived an ordinary live in Yunmeng, quietly and in hiding after you clan had been more or less extinguished. It was odd for one Wen family member to live among the Jiang Clan in secret but you did the best you could to hide your identidy until Wei Wuxians return, who to your surprise brought along Wen Ning. You only observed from a distance but you could not be happier to see your cousin still alive and walking next to Young Master Wei.

It was only when you met Wen Qing in secret that Master Wei had found out and brought you into Lotus Pier which did cause you great trouble the moment you encountered Jiang Cheng, who to this day, still had not manage to control his temper. No Wen Clan member as expected to be alive and now to be faced with another one who was responsible for his family’s death had awoken something in him. Anger, rage, the fact that there was still a Wen walking in Lotus Peer alive and breathing. Not something one would expect after 16 years. 

You had no right to be here and you knew that, if it was only for Wei Wuxian that you had stepped into this territory, only for Wen Ning who seemed to be still the same, even after so many years, even if he was at the same time different. He was still family and if you did meet your death today, so it be.

There he stood, the Zidian in his hands gave of an energy that you could feel. The atmosphere was threathening. You had long stopped carrying your sword, no longer in need for it but of course Jiang Cheng insisted on it. “ Do you expect me to fight you without your sword? -- First you dare to step into Lotus Peer and now you even disrespect the general rules of cultivation. ” He spoke arrogantly, though his voice was underlying with rage. One could tell he was furious. “ I’m not here to fight, Clan Leader Jiang. --- I simply wanted to meet Wen Ning, it has been so long. ” You admitted quietly, reserved as always. “ I do not wish to cause more trouble. As for my sword, I have long stopped carrying it as I do not need it.” You explained quietly and with a steady voice as you bowed and turned to leave, just in that moment you felt the heat of a burning sting against your back, sending you flying to the ground in pain. Just before the second it hit you again, you could see someone blocking the hit for you, the rustling of chains being heard.  The hit of the zidian was clearly something you did underestimate, especially now that you were weaker than before. 

The only thing you could make out was that somebody picked you up as you heard a voice fainted in the background. Wei Wuxian has come to your side as Wen Ning explained the situation to him. It was a world known fact that nobody but yourself could draw their sword. It was in connection with your core, and once it died, it would seal itself forever. 

“ Because the sword considers you as Wen Y/N. ---- ” Ning spoke, his features blank as he continued to explain the situation to Cheng. “What does that mean?” The clan leader furiously enquired, panic in his tone. “How can it consider me as her? ---- Why me? ”

“Because the golden core, functioning in your system is hers. “ Finally the truth had come to live. Something that had been hidden for more than 16 years. The endless nights of searching up methods of how to make it less painful, how to make it quick and most importantly if it could work at all where finally revealed.

Wen Ning kept on explaining everything to Jiang Cheng, whereas Wei Wuxian still held you in his arms checking to see if you were still breathing from the inpact of the Zidian you had suffered. Wen Ning could explain everything in detail to him, from the day he went up the hill, met that woman who was Wen Qing pretending, to how exactly they had transfered your golden core to him.

Jiang Cheng was in disbelief. He did not want to believe a single word from that came from Ning’s mouth. How could a Wen possibly this selfless and give up their own golden core. He tried to understand but now matter how he tried to process this, it did not make any sense to him. He was in utter disbelief, at a loss for words. 

Again, he spoke. “You are talking nonsense. ---- ”

“I’m not. --  “ Ning countered. 

“Shut up!“ He did not want to hear it. None of it. “ My golden core...My golden core...”

“It was repaired by Baoshan Sanren. ---“ The ghost general continued.

“ How do you know that? Wei Wuxian, --- What did you tell them? “

“ No! - Master Wei never told anyone about it. --  I saw it with my own eyes. “ 

“Liar! -- You were there? How could that be possible? “ Wanyin yelled at Ning. “ I was the only one that went up that mountain. There was no way that you followed me. “

Wen Ning kept on telling the whole story yet Jian Cheng still did not dare to believe a single word. It wasn*t possible. They must be lying, it was the only reasonable explanation to what was going on. Was he going insane? Why were they lying?

“ How did you know about it? -- “

“ I told you. -- I was there. Not just me. But also Master Wei, my sister and my cousin was there as well. “

This went on for minutes, minutes that did feel like hours explaining why a stone could not float in the water.

“That is not true. You are lying. --- Then why was my golden core repaired?“

“It was never repaired! “ Wen Ning yelled loudly.

“ No, no, no. NO!“ 

“Clan Leader Jiang. You should have seen it coming. The reason why you thought your core was repaired was my sister Wen Qing, the best doctor of the Wen Clan of Qishan and the sacrifice of my cousins golden core, Wen Y/N. “

At this point, he had no words left, his vision had become blury. He did feel regret towards you. You gave him shelter, you gave him medicine and did treat him with respect, yet your name was tainted with blood shed of his family for all eternity which he simply could not forget. Will never forget, refused to forget.

“She removed Lady Y/N golden core and transplanted it into you. -- Even if she was supposed to fight you today, her spiritual power is weak. If she did draw the sword, she could not last very long. --- She is a Wen, of the Wen Clan. My cousin. ---- We are hated by the whole world. Where could she possibly go. If people had found out earlier that she was still alive, she would have been gone long enough. She had suffered for three nights and two days straight. She did have to be awake throughout the whole procedure. ---- It was painful. “

Jiang Cheng was shedding tears for someone he barely knew or maybe because he could not believe the act of kindness this was.

“She gave up her core because she did not need it. She did not mind being ordinary but the most important thing was, she felt guilty for all the things Wen Chao had done to your family, to all the families that were slaughtered because of our clan. --- She sacrificed herself as a reimbursement to the loss that had been inflicted to you.  Y/N had heard your conversation of how you could not stand being an ordinary man. -----  “

The scene fell quiet, as you were carried away bei Wuxian, closely followed by Wen Ning. Devastation was written all over his face, he became numb, the words echoing in his head, the memories of back then flashing before his eyes. He wondered how much she must’ve suffered? The pain she had to endure during those days. 

However,  how was he able to accept the fact that a Wen had given their golden core to him? The family, the clan he did despise the most.

What’s this?” And LWJ just goes “don’t worry Wei ying, I’ll make sure that never happens to you.” And what he means is “I’ll make sure your grounding isn’t as painful as theirs.” And wwx trusts LWJ 100%, but then their own grounding happens.

angstymdzsthoughts Could be because he really missed his wings and is glad to have them back or because this means he's gonna have to go through the grounding AGAIN and it really hurt the first time and he doesn't want to go through it again. Maybe both

anyway about a year into this (2069 haha n*ce), verona falls gregnant (uh oh) and they basically have a shotgun wedding (mistake)

verona joins the bakkers clan, moves in with raf, yada yada yada, neither her nor him are rly content w life but they kinda figure alright well. we gotta be grownups for this fucking kid ig

only no they dont, surprise !!! bcos verona has a miscarriage abt two / three months in during that period when it’s a lil touch-and-go

now neither of them were exactly looking forward to being parents anyway, and actually spending regular time with each other outside of jobs and arguments and sex has proven that actually theyre very badly suited for each other, so in some ways this is a relief

however. they are still married. verona left her whole life for raf and this future that never even happened, so it’s very complicated just. Emotionally.

they spend another two years sort of trying to make it work bcos they just dont know what else to do. things get very toxic and abusive on both sides during this time; lots of things are thrown, lots of nasty shit is said, they’re constantly walking out on each other and then going back

but then after two years (2071, verona’s twenty-six) both of them are just. exhausted. and theyve had enough of each other and this situation. and verona just wants that future she was promised, not so much as in she wants to have a marriage and babies, but just that she wants to have Something, bcos her life has just been a whole lot of nothing these last few years

so she walks out. im not sure if her and raf ever even formally get a divorce or if she just makes a split-second decision one day while she’s driving and never comes home

anyway she ends up taking that smuggling job with jackie as we know and then once they come to night city theyre both super close. she stays at the welles house for the first like year or so; her and mama welles are super close, bcos verona’s never had a mom around really and she just. loves having that figure now

after the first year she’s saved up enough through jobs and also hustling the shit out of gamblers with jackie that she moves out of the welles place. she still comes over every sunday for dinner. mama welles often refers to her as a daughter. jackie has taken on his assigned little brother role with relish

her and jackie spend the next five years working jobs to get by and trying to Make Something Of Themselves. viktor steps in to be verona’s surrogate father so now she has 2 parents hell yeah. 

and then that all just eventually leads to the game’s events

my friends... like a fool I did watch fatal journey. and I indeed cried a lot because nie brothers!!!! spoilers under the cut!

- first of all: nie huaisang is my favourite mdzs character and I’m SO happy with how they’ve done his characterization here! he’s so smart! (and his brother knows and respects it, as does their whole sect ;_______; I get the sense not a lot of people actually know him that well, it’s so good to know nie mingjue does and is aware that his brother is intelligent and capable behind his antics) 

also loved how the narrative supported the emotional throughline that nie huaisang doesn’t need to be changed into something he’s not to be a Valid sect leader -- he is never going to be a martial arts master or into military stuff and he is kind of soft but he’s also very explicitly not a coward and is competent and charismatic in his own way as well as y’know a secret mastermind. (...and he survives jin guangyao where his brother doesn’t. owwwww.)  most of all he shows he’s aware of the lives he’s responsible for and takes it extremely seriously. there is a... righteousness, I want to say? to him, behind all the grey morality stuff in the revenge plot. I guess there’s a reason he got along so well with wei wuxian haha. 

- oh nie mingjue. oh my heart is breaking for him again and again, he tried so hard. he tried so hard to get away from his family’s terrible legacy and he was so young when he was forced to take it on and like huaisang says he did the best he could with what he was given and it’s so awful. all this guilt and pressure he was never responsible for creating but has to find a way to handle somehow. (the generational trauma metaphor when he was literally being beaten into the ground by the manifestation of their family’s history fsdalfsdjh (admittedly in the form of some frankly irredeemable CGI but y’know what the emotional metaphor still stands lol)) 

literally my only solace right now is that ultimately he might not have managed to break away from or question that dark legacy himself... but he essentially raised a person who could. because he loved his little brother for exactly who he was, even when that was something different from what he himself had been raised to value. hmngh. hnnnnnnnnng. no it’s okay it’s just raining on my face 

- on a shallower note: nie mingjue with his hair down tho.   O.O

- “Do I really have to watch you die in front of me before you stop?” THIS IS JUST PLAIN OLD CRUELTY!!! JUST STABBING ME IN THE HEART WITH A RUSTY BREADKNIFE REPEATEDLY WHAT THE  F U C K

(it’s also nie huaisang making it clear to his brother that he sees and knows a lot more than he lets on and it’s devastating in every way) 

- those poor nie guys helplessly watching what could easily have been the last remaining heir to lead their sect THROW HIMSELF OFF A CLIFF because he’s profoundly ride or die (or resurrect) for the people he cares about     

- nie mingjue. openly crying. and apologizing to huaisang for making him practice with the saber. because he knows he’s dying and he doesn’t know any other way than what he was taught or how to leave his little brother better equipped for the eventual burden he’ll inherit. and he feels like he’s failed as a brother and as a son and as a clan leader. fhjkdshakjsfhasdflhkj 

but you know what murders me more than all of that? the fact that this moment of vulnerability and ‘weakness’ from him is when huaisang actually becomes calmer and more secure. because what he’s really been afraid of this whole time is that his brother is already gone, lost to the saber madness, or that he really thought he was useless and cowardly and worthless. and here is the brother he loves and remembers, being present with him. so now he can focus his big brain and solve the puzzle. he was more scared of losing his brother than dying with him down there as long as they were together. HELP ME   

- rip to this earnest handsome dualwielding nie dude doomed from the outset b/c he doesn’t appear in the main series. ur sacrifice was appreciated buddy

- I have a LOT of feelings about how clear it is that nie mingjue more or less raised his brother. there’s something about the sentiment of ‘no matter what you want to do with your life, as long as I’m alive I will love you and protect you’ that is so deeply parental. the way he was like ‘it’s okay, I’m here’ after he caught him from falling? same thing. (his voice is so sooooft right there) can’t explain it, but I sure as hell feel it. unconditional goddamn love huh

(and in their final scenes together, as he’s helping his brother stay upright, there’s the unavoidable implication that nhs is thinking ‘but I don’t know if I can protect you’. and in the end...)

- everything to do with the flute makes jgy’s eventual fate all the more satisfying to think about. *me filming nhs pulling the longest and most devastating long con of vengeance for his brother on this piece of shit* you’re doing amazing sweetie

Endgame lets gooooooooooooooo

Mission: Call of the Glaive - Stonewood Ruins

"The heroes search for the second half of the Dual Glaive. It has been hidden somewhere in Stone-in-the-Wood."

Good god. Lvl 40. My party ranges from 38 to 34. Do I have to level grind some more more more?

Well, lets find out.

I don't remember the forest around Stone-in-the-Wood having so many misty chasms. Damn, global darkening.

SO I see a lot of Darkened beasts. I see a glowy exit square next to the the Crucible. Hmmmmm I wonder WHERE the 1/2 Dual Glaive could possibly be hidden.

Okay so the party this time has to be Rian, Brea, Deet, and Gurjin. If only I could have a few more to get the rest of the mains in here. But this is endgame time and its time for Rian to get the Good Sword.

Rian: "Stone-in-the-Wood. Since its fall, the place has been overrun with darkened creatures."

I mean, that makes a lot of sense, actually. I'd like some more emotion about it, though. This was your home, Rian.

Deet: "We need to find the Dual Glaive. It's here... somewhere."

Rian: "There, the forge! After a battle, the Stonewood place all their weapons in the forge. The Dual Glaive has to be there."

Holy crap I've never seen Nurlocs get the first turn what the heck.

But all I have to do is get to the glowy square. Preferably with Rian, for plot reasons.

There's two paths around from where you start. One side path. One low path thats only one square wide and blocked by a boulder. Some of the enemies are going down that path anyway so I'm just going to be shooting Firemoss Bundles at them like fish in a barrel.

After three bundles, they ded.

Also Gurjin is being my front line on the other path and I finally got to use Rian's Even the Odds! Between Pursuit, Hold Position, Retribution and best friends like Rian, Gurjin is amazing at standing in one place and absorbing damage!

Anyway I killed all of the enemies. I wonder if more will spawn in or what.

welp. None spawn ins. Just me moving my units closer to the glowy square turn by turn.

That was a design decision that was made.

Rian: "This is it, the Dual Glaive!"

Deet: "Something is happening. Look at the Forge! The flames... They're turning blue!"

VICTORY!

Arrrre we going to do the fire skype thing? I already united all of the clans.

LEVELS UP! Rian leveled and learned Aim for the Gaps (100% critical chance on a marked enemy)! Brea leveled and learned Convalesce 2! Deet leveled twice and learned nothing. Gurjin leveled and learned Heroic Leap!

Brea maxed out on Mendering. But since we're in the endgame and I like her loadout, I'll leave her where she is.

I got the Glaive of a Fallen Hero! Wooooooooooo! Weird that its not just called Dual Glaive but I don't mind this name either.

Glaive of a Fallen Hero is the Sword of the Stonewood Clan. Gots some good attack and critical chance. This is going right on Rian, for plot reasons.

Yeah. We're doing the Fire Skype.

Rian: "Gelfling, the Skeksis have deceived you; turned clan against clan."

I FEEL like we've gone over this pretty thoroughly in the various clan specific mission chains!

I guess giving the clans a place to rally around is a good reason to still do the Fire Skype. I'm just a bit perplexed at what gets brought over from the show 1 to 1 and what gets added.

The Emperor: "Enough! Your rebellion will end in ruin!"

Rian: "Bring your weapons. Bring your Skeksis, and meet your destiny!"

'Come on if you're hard enough'

Huh! Two more missions opened up. One at the castle and another one at the Stonewood Ruins. I feeeel like the one at the castle happens first, most likely? It says requires Seladon and Tavra, people I don't have in my party. Buuuuut might as well see if I can do it?

Mission: Broken Bargains - Castle Hallways

"Seladon and Tavra must now escape the Castle of the Crystal after freeing the Stonewood Gelfling."

Sweet, its Seladon and Spider-Tavra! I finally get that closure I've been wanting!

Party: Brea, obviously. This is the big sisters moment! Naia, because I've been reading Shadows of the Dark Crystal and she and Tavra have a funny dynamic. And Rek'yr. How is he here? Brea called in a favor? Look, we can't question the location of people in this game. It started in the flashback zone and had people wildly out of time!

Okay so we have a bunch of Darkened beasties and a couple of Nurloc experiments which are even beefier. We have a locked door and a lever to open it. We have the General.

Time to kick his ass again.

Spider-Tavra: "We had a deal. You were supposed to let us go free!"

The General: 'I have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it further.'

Where's SkekLach, tho?

The General: "And what's this, Arathim working with Gelfling?"

Spider-Tavra: "Our deal has changed as well."

The Arathim Ascendency: "If you need help, use the etchings. Arathim will come to your aid."

YO WHAT?? I get to summon spiders??

Amazing. This game never stops giving.

Also, we're in the crystal chamber, I think? There's the symbol on the floor. No crystal though.

Okay, the mission objective is to get Seladon and Tavra both to the glowy exit square. Hypothetically feasible.

There's three glowy runes which increase evasion and apparently summon spiders. Lets gooo.

Seladon has Even the Odds, Firemoss, Landslide 2, Shockwave, and Flow of Battle.

Spider-Tavra still has Double Strike, Shove, Adrenaline, Retribution, and Spot Weakness.

HAH SUMMONED SOME SPIDERS ON THE GENERAL

Also, I've almost taken out all of his darkened minions although its taken its toll. Damn Thrash. Damn Wound status.

The spiders are allied but they're not controlled by me. So its fine for them to just do their own thing. I need to heal. Everyone.

Well, poor Rek'yr gave his life but I successfully surrounded SkekVar and slowly beat him to death. And that took me right to the in-engine cutscene which is probably what should have happened in the last level.

Brea: "What are you doing, Tavra? I won't leave without you."

The General: "No, stop! I beg of you!"

Spider-Tavra: "This is for the Arathim, for the All-Maudra!"

-Chamberlain comes out of basically nowhere and kills Tavra, threader spawns onto the field and runs off-

In-engine cutscenes are amazing.

Chamberlain: "Leave friend alone!"

Brea: "Tavra! Sister, no!"

-upbeat victory music-

But I already made fun of that when Ordon died so.

Brea leveled. Naia leveled twice! Rek'yr did not!

I got Heartseeker (the dagger of the Stonewood clan)! I got the General's Cuirass! Stealing clothes from knocked out Skeksis never gets old.

The Cuirass is going right on Gurjin. Its going to slow him down even further but it gives him a matched set of Skeksis gear. The General's Hand Axe and the General's Cuirass.

"Heavy metal plates seated on tough leather and trimmed with fur... How inelegant!" -skekEkt

Mission: Seven Clans United - Stonewood Ruins

"With the clans united, the heroes stand against the Skeksis. The General approaches to challenge them."

Yeah, sure. I don't mind kicking his butt again. He's got more clothes I can steal, probably.

Geez, this is an excessively cozy map. Its not very big and one of the starting squares is right up in the General's face.

He's got two hollerbats called General's Pet which grant him buffs. Gotta kill those guys.

Party: Rian, Brea, Deet, Gurjin, Rek'yr.

The main squad, plus Rek'yr. I need someone to be applying marks for the other people to hit.

Rian: "The reign of the Skeksis is over. All Gelfling rise against you!"

General: "Fools! You will all die, here and now! If it's a fight you want, I'll give you one! Haaaa! Let's have some fun!"

AHHH HE GOES FIRST! AAAAAH HES RIGHT IN RANGE OF BREA! HE SILENCED HER!

This map is too small...

Killed his pets tho.

General: "This fight isn't over yet! I'm just getting started!"

Geez, if he stuns someone on his next turn he can do Killing Blow which does a ludicrous amount of damage. Very ludicrous. RIP Rek'yr.

HE SUMMONED MORE BATS

I killed his bats. HE SUMMONED MORE BATS. I think maybe its not worth killing the bats...

Also he stuns people for like three turns. I think I'm gonna have to spend some of my money on stun-proof trinkets.

Whats also uncool is that the summon more bats thing the first time? Erased Rek'yr's body from the map. I had Awaken on Brea. I could have brought him back. Boo. Boo on this game mechanic.

Ok this battle is going downhill.

The General has 4000 HPees which is a lot. And he can lock people down with stun for a while. So I'm going to have to spend some cash. I might even have to.... level =(

Yup everyone died.

Lets try that again.

So soiled Podling socks all around. The best way to prevent stun, donchaknow.

And lets spend some more money.

Upgrading Deet and Brea to Ceremonial Vestments. Upgrading Rian to Paladin's Full Plate. Upgrading Rek'yr to Etched Lorica and giving him the Heartseeker.

Gurjin didn't do a lot of damage so I'm guessing that the General is resistant to axes? Is that a thing in this game? But I'll hit him with Naia instead. And I kind of want to use Kylan who can mark and heal but I don't know who I'd replace. Hm. Maybe next time.

TAKE 2

Party: Rian, Deet, Brea, Naia, Rek'yr!

Hm. I forgot that the Intimidate move also lowers attack. My guys are hitting for shit with these debuffs. Maybe I should bring a party member who can remove debuffs. Well, live and learn. And attempt to chip away at his health bar anyway.

So its not very entertaining but I'm just slowly ganging up on him and slowly beating the crap out of him. Annoyingly his bat can heal him. And I can't kill it or he'll summon more bat.

Chipping away chipping away I guess I got it low~

Because: dialogue.

Rian: "You are bested, General. It's over."

General: "Well, what are you waiting for? Finish me!"

Rian: "No, I am no killer! Begone!"

I still don't know how the hell Rian thought this would shake out favorably.

How did he see the war ending in his head? The Skeksis would just agree to stop drinking Gelfling? Would they vacate the castle and let Aughra take over the crystal again? As long as he never tried to kill any of them in a war situation?

Or is it just he won’t kill an unarmed opponent?

I dunno.

And my party just. Runs off screen. So Chamberlain can run on-screen. And kill SkekVar. Despite their rivalry not really being established. In the game plot.

Chamberlain: "Emperor will listen to ME now."

Then again, fair enough. This is in character for him.

VICTORY.

Rian leveled twice and learned Shockwave (stun enemies in a line)! Rek'yr leveled twice! Naia leveled and learned Aimed Strike 2! Deet leveled and learned Awaken 2! Brea leveled and didn't learn anything because she's max on her job.

Naia maxed out on Soldier! Don't want to start her on a new job on the last level so I'm going to flip her back to Paladin for the good, good stats.

I found the General's War Flag! Starts battle with five turns of Attack Up, Haste, and Beserk! Uh. Not sure how that's helpful. I like deciding what my guy is going to do. Stupid Var and his stupid flag.

Mission: Seven Clans United: Part 2 - Stonewood Ruins

"The Hunter has returned once more, to the surprise of the hereos. But help comes from an unexpected place."

... How are they going to represent Aughra exploding out of him though?

I think I want to bring Kylan. Didn't the Hunter kill his parents? So I'm going to upgrade him to Ceremonial Vestments.

And I'm buying Armalig Scales for everyone since I think Wounding was the Hunter's thing and I don't want to deal with that biz.

Geez, this dongus starts the level on a big hill ready to jump down and squish people. The rudeity of people.

Party: Rian, he's the hero guy. Kylan, he's here for the revenge. Rek'yr, he's here to say goodbye to an old friend. Brea, she's mad that he kidnapped her between levels or something, I'm not sure when it happened. Gurjin, he's here to be a supportive best friend. And plus, offer hugs.

Rian: "The Hunter! But... how?"

The Hunter: "Quiet, puny Gelfling! I have conquered death! I am more powerful than ever... more powerful than Thra itself!"

Oh, this hubris is going to end really well for him.

Ok. So this dingus has 4000 HPees. He's got Carve which hurts and inflicts Wound. He's got Carve 2 which hurts and inflicts Wound and shoves. He's got Stab, which stabs. He's got Cleave. We know that one. Gotta keep my guys not adjacent. He's got Pelt. I think that means he's gonna throw stuff. And he's got Target Wound. Which I just bet does massive damage. But joke's on him. He's got Savage Counter which means he 100% of the time counters. And he's got Surefooted which means he's a hoppy boy.

-one turn later where he hits Gurjin not very hard, gets critted by Rek'yr and counters-

Brea: "He's too strong!"

Mmmm. I could take him.

Rian: "We have to try! We must keep fighting!"

urVa, the Archer, somewhere: "No more. The hunt must end."

The Hunter, back in the Stonewood Ruins, somehow hearing that: "No! Nothing can stop the hunt!"

-I beat the shit out of the Hunter some more-

-flash over to the Archer taking one step-

Hunter: "Archer! What are you doing!"

These interludes are killing the pacing. Just to say. Maybe they should have been saved for the end. Or something.

-more violence-

Archer: "Now, we shall see what lies at the dream's end." -another baby step-

Hunter: "No, stop!"

Archer: -jumps-

This isn't conveyed well in in-game cutscene, I have to say.

Then the Hunter dies.

VICTORY.

Uh. That was. Something. I think that's a time where the plot butted too much into the gameplay. I only got him down to half life before he died and it didn't take much time at all. Ah well.

Gurjin levels twice! Rek'yr leveled and learned Opening Act 2! Since I still don't get how Opening Act 1 works, I'm probably never going to use this! Kylan leveled three times and learned Grand Concert and Motivating Chord 2! Wow! Brea levels! Rian levels and learns Unfailing Blow 2!

I also find the Hunter's Helmet in the gross ash pile that used to be him!

"A trophy from some avian beast? Or the skull of another Skeksis...?"

It gives you reduced recovery time, increased crit chance  but reduced magic and normal defense. Dammit, Mal!

Kylan did get the last blow in the fight. That's something.

Anyway, I was wrong. There's at least one more mission.

Mission: Seven Clans United: Part 3 - Stonewood Ruins

"The heroes have bested the Skeksis' mightiest warriors. Only one challenge remains: The Emperor"

oof, I bet this is going to be hard.

Ooooof this is going to go badly. Three Skeksis. The Scientist, the Emperor, the Chamberlain... WAIT THE SCIENTIST WASN'T ALLOWED TO COME BECAUSE HE WAS TOO BIG A NERD! Dammit, game!

Anyway, the Emperor has Darkening Decay - attack and inflict random status effects. Focus Darkness - mark random tiles for the next move. Unleash Darkness - deal damage to anyone on a Darkened tile.

The Scientist and the Chamberlain have their usual abilities. So I think I should have kept the anti-poison gear and anti-stun gear on my guys.

Ah well. At least the non-Emperors only have 2000 HP.

Party: Rian, Brea, Deet, Naia, Rek'yr.

The Chamberlain: "Emperor, Skeksis should retreat. There are too many!"

Emperawr: "I will not lose, no matter the cost! Gelfling, you now face the true power of the Darkening!"

Oof that focus darkness does some damage. But hah, the Scientist only has 1500hp. He really is the nerd of the group.

Oops. Rian died. He was on a darkened tile and he didn't get a turn in time to move. Thank goondess I put Guardian's Blessing on him and he got to revive instantly.

Ok Rian died again, for real.

I just noticed that the Unleash Darkness hurts the non-Emperor Skeksis too if they're standing in it. Hahah

Between getting bombed a few time by his own boss, the Scientist was low enough health for Rek'yr to wander over and bop him.

One down.

Chamberlain is at low health but he's hiding in a corner casting stun and confuse on anyone that tries to bop him in the head. Which I'd very much like to do.

Crap, Brea and Rek'yr died in the same focus/unleash darkness.

Crap, Deet died.

Crap, Naia died.

Crap, Rian died.

The Emperor can just whip out the Focus Darkness too fast and it deals too much damage. And I think I needed to focus more on knocking Chamberlain senseless before he can split my party too much.

So anti-stun for everyone.

Or, actually, I'm going to try the Glowmoss Poultice which gives everyone ten turns of HP regen.

And even though Rian was there, I think I'm swapping out Gurjin. Having another person available that's immune to poison and can kick some serious butt. Well... Strategist hasn't really paid out much yet.

Okay on take 2, Scientist is down. Halfway through kicking Chamberlain's ass. Focus Darkness is getting really alarming.

Oops, Deet died. Haha Chamberlain died.

Now I just have the Emperawr and his full health.

I've got him down to half health but he killed AND THEN STEPPED ON Rek'yr.

Deet died in some darkening explosion but I got Brea to raise her. Just got to keep her alive now. Because plot. I mean, its not a level requirement. I just want to.

God, I'm glad I put so much Stone Warden into Gurjin. He's damn beefy.

Now he's down to less than a thousand.

AND HE TOOK TWO TURNS IN A ROW.

This man is corrupt to his core.

I have him under 100 hp and he uses focus darkness. And its covering a pretty generous area so I don't know if I can move everyone out of the way. Especially because he gets to go before half of my party.

But I have Brea up and she has a pocket full of fire moss with this guy's name on it.

It says SkekSo.

Emperor: "Impossible... I cannot be defeated."

Chamberlain: "Retreat! To the castle!"

Deet: "They're running away!"

VICTORY!

Never before has the fanfare been so sweet.

Naia leveled twice! Reky're leveled! Gurjin leveled THREE TIMES and learned Double Strike 2! Brea leveled twice! Deet leveled twice and learned Healing Touch 2!

Also I found some Crystal Fragment! Weird that random crystals just fell out of this boss birdlizarddragon as I was hitting him.

It lets you steal MP when you attack. Pretty cool.

Oh and Deet wanders off into the wilderness, all Darkened. Despite that not being very well established in the game.

When will Gurjin get respect?

Oh and Aughra tells me that there are more missions or I can do a new game plus which is harder.

I don't see any new missions on the map. Just some encounters to test my mettle.

But that was the game!

I loved the gameplay when it wasn't frustrating me. The moves are mostly all cool. I wish you could use more of them than three from primary job and two from secondary but you can still get a cool load out. The environments and characters look great.

Its the storytelling that lets it down, a little. Its trying to be a supplement to the show and that really hampers it at various points. The weird setup where we start in the flashback zone. Plot beats from the show being introduced because they're in the show but weren't properly set up in the game.

It either needed a bit more rewriting to tell the story of the show in a satisfying way or it needed to use the show as a jumping off point while it did its own thing.

The stuff that they invented to fill the gaps work pretty decently. The writing isn't particularly deep but its decent enough. The forbidden archeology quest with the Sifa. Discovering the fate of the guards. That stuff.

And this is hindsight, of course, but with the show being cancelled, there's so much ground left uncovered! If they were more willing to diverge from the show, they could have done some battles set afterwards and used the Garthim. I'm pretty curious how they would have been represented!

I also wish we could have gotten one or two more Skeksis. Chamberlain, Hunter, General, Scientist, and Emperor is decent but you know what could have been decenter? The Collector.

But overall. A good time was had by all, wherein all was me.

i think it wouldve been cool if we were introduced to the dark forest as a proper villain then, cause they were training cats all the way back to crookedstar. and idk, in this au the three actually have a JOB to do rather than wait around thinking abt a prophecy on how they have the power of the stars in their paws

*SO the first book in po3 ends with jay finding out theyre the three right? (or not bc i dont remember much RIP) but thats ok, this first book wouldve introduced the three, have them finding out that theres something different abt them. minus hollyleaf ;w;

*at some point before jay tells his siblings abt being in a prophecy, lion is already acquainted w the dark forest. hes big dumb and is still young so he just trusts tigerstar, though he keeps the training w them at a minimum

*jay is the one whos warned abt the dark forest by spottedleaf herself.  and he converses w his siblings

*holly and lion are shocked, the latter especially, and admits to them that he’sbeen training under tigerstar, though he’s never seen any other cats being trained

*holly THEN forms a plan abt spying the dark forest cats, and seeing who else is training under them. the plan? lion becomes something like what ivy turned out to be in oots, he becomes a spy, but at a cost. he becomes lets says, more violent, but its an act, though he tends to be snappish more than usual. his job is to figure out tigerstar’s plans, as well as what other cats could be training 

*then he tells jay, who dreams his way into said cats’ heads when sleeping, and informs them abt wanting to meet up. think jay threatening ashfur when the latter said he was gonna reveal the secret. the cats are unnerved, sometimes scared, yet jay’s med cat position (even tho at the start hes just an apprentice) serves as an important catalyst to them believing in him

*next is holly! shes the one in charge w actually talking w the cat. and thats when things get warped. the three think her superpower is getting other to listen to her. its not exactly a ‘power’ just a knack that she’s really really good at. sometimes warriors in thunderclan joke abt how she’d even be capable of talking herself out of an argument w shadowclan

*i dont have a set plot in mind regarding what happens next bc i have a muddled memory abt po3 but yeah. ofc things start to go downhill the farther they go. the sibs still have their life stretched ahead of them, and they dont always have time for the dark forest.lions fling w heatherpaw, sol, their journey to the mountains, and all that biz. below is what i think will happen after the events of sunrise.

*jayfeather, now appointed as thunderclan’s only medicine cat. more or less stays the same. he is crushed about hollyleaf’s death, and is almost reluctant to keeping the DF in check despite finding out his sister isnt one of the three. in their small cat cult, he is easily regarded as the leader once holly runs away

*hollyleaf’s ‘power’ fails her the moment she is unable to talk things straight w ashfur. it fucks the three of them up, and they chalk it up to being ‘too emotional’ to be able to handle things properly. lion has done it before, he’s gotten himself a few scratches when he wasnt paying attention or was too riled up. when she runs away, she thinks starclan took her powers away too, and she thinks she ruined the prophecy. when in reality shes just not the same as she was and is unable to really sound like her same old confident  self as an apprentice/young warrior

*now lionblaze’s is interesting. instead of cutting ties w the DF he uses the grief from squirrelflights confession as an act to rise the ranks. he uses that turmoil to earn tigerstar’s trust. in return he is more hella tired, he begins to train OTHER cats from the clans, who are all relatively afraid of him since he gets so violent at times, w/o even a scratch on his pelt. jay doesnt like that, but lion urges him that it helps bc holly is gone now. its easier to know who’son the DF’s side, but his powers become kind of useless since he gets overworked as everything progresses

*CUE OOTS

*dovepaw’s power is revealed. jay and lion’s lives get easier. and ivy is swayed itno the dark forest.

*lion n ivy bonding! ivy is reluctant at first, shes even abt to disagree to train bc she SPOTS lion in the crowd, but hawkfrost manages to convince ger to join

*and when lion and ivy meet its like “oh. youre here. OH SHIT”

*prophecy talk irl, they all agree that ivy will work as a spy like lionblaze

*when flametail dies and his spirit wanders the DF lion refuses to follow orders and kill him and is kicked out by the DF. ivy is challenged in turn, and she does the same as in canon and is stopped by tigerheart. its a hard thing to get over with, but it actually does lion some good. he actually gets to rest now

*remember when i said cat cult? well GUESS WHAt it forms bc cats gossip at gatherings. the things jay, holly, and lion did lead them to becoming these three powerful kiddos the cats look up to as ‘gods’ as in starclan powered up cats

*its similar to how starclan actually feared the three of them in canon BUT NOW WE’RE DOING SOMETHING W THAT FEAR

*holly was originally the leader, but once she disappears jay takes her place. dove and ivy are introduced later on.

so i had a kakasaku flavoured dream last night...

It was a same age au or something similar. Maybe a gen swap, where Sakura is older than the Konoha 12. She’s like 19/20ish here, young enough to be reckless but old enough to be considered and adult. Kakashi was never her sensei. Sakura had never met Kakashi at all in their youth, or at least there was no significant interaction. Maybe he was a couple of years older but not much. She knows of him (because everyone knows about the infamous Hatake Kakashi) but hasn’t ever met him.

Anyways, Kakashi was this mysterious ANBU, and Sakura was still the hokage’s (Tsunade’s) apprentice, and that’s all the background info you need to know.

So the dream starts with this visiting dignitary or someone, probably an emperor, but the point is that he had more authority than the Hokage. Somehow, Sakura does something to piss the emperor off (she loses her temper with him? Something like that). The emperor is so offended or whatever it is that emperors feel when the ‘peasants below them have the audacity to think they’re on the same level as the godly emperor’ that her penalty is that she must lose her identity, unless someone vouches for her by sharing their own name. It’s that or be exiled from the land of fire.

Sakura is worried, and somehow there’s nothing Tsunade can do to stop this. Sakura is given some short period of time (let’s say it’s a month) to find someone suitable to share their name. (I say suitable because it has to be someone from an important clan or else the emperor won’t be satisfied; the emperor must approve after all, because he’s a power drunk narcissist so super duper important).

Sometime after the decree is made, Sakura starts having ‘illicit’ meetups with a nameless ANBU (aka she’s hitting it). She doesn’t know who he is, hasn’t even seen his face. She doesn’t ever call him by his name, and he never calls her by her name. They basically just have anonymous, no strings attached sex.

The only people we see around Sakura aside from the mysterious ANBU are Tsunade and Shizune, and neither have volunteered to offer Sakura their names. That or they can’t. Maybe our super awesome emperor wouldn’t approve, idk, it never came up. Naruto isn’t born in Sakura’s generation, neither is Ino or any of the friends Sakura has made in canon. Despite no one coming forward to offer Sakura their name, everyone around Sakura assures her that everything is going to be okay.

In the beginning, Sakura was super worried about not having a name. That’s pretty much what started her hookups with the mysterious ANBU—the need for stress relief. Shizune is seen comforting Sakura a lot, to which Sakura always replies “I have lots of friends, someone will come through for me.” Who is she trying to convince? Shizune... or herself??!?!!?111?!1one!!?? Much deep, such unique.

In the last week before the deadline, and despite no one stepping up, Sakura is not worried. She had been frightened of living without a name at first, but her interactions with this mysterious ANBU show her that being nameless isn’t the worst thing. She come to terms with it, and realizes that living nameless is a lot better than being banished, and that a name is not an identity.

Tsunade and Shizune also seem unfazed, and keep making comments to Sakura about her being fine, that she takes as offhand comforts but seem a little too... blasé. Shouldn’t they be more upset that Sakura is losing her name? They act like it’s not a big deal at all...

It’s the day of the deadline. Sakura is in front of the Hokage tower on a stage or something, the emperor is there, along with Tsunade and Shizune. No one has come forward to offer Sakura their name. Her name is written on her back on like, a white, iron-on piece of fabric. HARUNO SAKURA. It’s placed across her shoulders, like it’s a sports jersey.

As Sakura crosses the stage, Tsunade whispers to her, “You shouldn’t have wasted the sticker.” Sakura doesn’t really understand, but continues to the middle of the stage. At the opposite end is the emperor. She turns so that her back is facing him.

Sakura reaches up with her hand to grab the end of the sticker that says HARUNO and to rip it off her back. She takes a deep breath, and then begins to tear.

Then the battle music from Naruto starts to play (can I just say LOL right here?), and the shot changes from Sakura’s back to like, a first person POV of an arrow as it spins through the air, heading towards Sakura back. It pierces the fabric between her last and first name, so that as Sakura pulls, only her last name gets torn off.

We see a blur pull the arrow from her back, which has only penetrated the fabric of her name label. Then, before anyone can react, HATAKE is taped onto Sakura’s back where HARUNO was. Sakura turns around at the feeling of hands on her back, but only sees the emperor.

“Ohhhh Hatake?” the emperor says, rubbing his chin. “Such a prestigious clan. I wasn’t aware you were seeking a bride, Kakashi-kun.”

Sakura is confused, and goes to reach her hands back up to feel her back, but is stopped when someone grabs them. It is the mysterious Hatake Kakashi, a man she has never met but only heard of. She is confused. In response to the emperor, from his place standing on Sakura’s left (and hiding her body from the small crowd in front of the stage) Kakashi just shrugs. He says something but Sakura cannot hear it; her ears are ringing. She’s married??? What???

The ceremony ends, the emperor is appeased and leaves, and Tsunade and Shizune walk off to continue their work day like nothing lifechanging or shocking just occurred. They are not surprised by this turn of events, and Sakura does not understand. They act like Sakura shouldn’t be surprised either. The small crowd that was watching disperses.

It is just Sakura and this man she has never met before. She turns to face this named stranger, confused, and a little irate, but knows she can’t get angry and blow up—it was her temper that got her in this problem to begin with.

“Who the hell are you?” Sakura hisses quietly, instead of yelling and screaming the way she wants to.

Kakashi shrugs. “No one, really.”

Sakura’s brows furrow. Hasn’t she heard that somewhere before? Kakashi starts to walk off, motioning for Sakura to come with him. Somehow I know his intention is to take her to the Hatake compound, but it’s not explicitly stated and Sakura is still confused. Sakura opens her mouth again to protest.

But before she can say anything else, I wake up.

So to backtrack a little, let me give you some info the dream gave me implicitly that I didn’t include to like, build up the tension lol.

The reason Tsunade and Shizune are not worried and seem so blasé about Sakura losing her name is because Kakashi had come to Tsunade near the beginning of the proclamation to offer Sakura his name. He and Sakura had been sleeping together at that point, so it’s not totally out of the blue for him to have started caring a bit about her.

Tsunade tells Kakashi that he should inform Sakura, and he sort of lies to Tsunade and tells her that Sakura knows about it. And in a way it’s not a lie; this Kakashi is one that’s only ever been in ANBU, he’s sort of damaged, he doesn’t understand normal human interaction fully (not Sai-level bad, but still not properly). Kakashi assumes that by having ‘relations’ with Sakura, she understands his intent. So to him, she knows, even if he’s never told her his name.

I’m not sure why giving someone your name means your married, but I assume it’s because the Hatake Clan only has one member, and that member is Sakura’s age. So by decreeing her a Hatake, and in this backwards misogynistic world, that mean Kakashi ‘owns’ her, and thus she is his wife. There were definitely some dark implications to this, so things going forward aren’t going to be sunshine’s and rainbows.

Sakura is definitely mad about this, and rightfully so—who wants to find out they’re suddenly married to a stranger? Kakashi doesn’t get why she’d be mad since they have been having sex and he thinks he’s been clear with his intentions (the whole, “you’re mine, say it!” “I’m yours!” sort of thing—that’s not how things work Kakashi [facepalm.gif]). It’s also sort of mildly yandere of Kakashi to go about things this way.

If I continued this into a fic, it would probably have yandere undertones but not be dark. So like no kidnapping or rape or anything forced, but Kakashi the Unsocialized is kind of possessive and like, expects them to be really married and is confused when Sakura is upset about it. She’s still sleeping with that mysterious ANBU tho, so Kakashi is like “why is she suddenly mad at me?” and doesn’t catch on that’s she doesn’t realize he’s the ANBU lol. Bad communication abounds.

Not that Sakura would have been chill to marry the nameless ANBU, esp without being told, but like, she sees him as her release from everyday stresses, and so she’s still banging him and expecting there to be no feelings. She def doesn’t have romantic feelings for the ANBU—she knows nothing about him, really. She probably thinks she’s rebelling against Kakashi as well by ‘cheating’ on him.

I do feel that as the fic goes on and Kakashi starts to understand what he did wrong, he’d try to make amends. And then Sakura starts to fall for him and things turn out ok in the end, tho there’s like a rough patch where Sakura learns the ANBU is Kakashi (he doesn’t tell her when he starts to try and like, actually court her as Kakashi, and continues to sleep with her as the ANBU until Sakura catches feelings for Kakashi and ends it). So that caused their second big argument and now Kakashi is like “what did I do wrong now?” because he’s a dumbass.

They eventually make up when Sakura realizes that she loves Kakashi and they have a frank talk about being open and not lying etc. Then maybe they get married for real (aka they have a ceremony and not just whatever that bs on stage was) and they live happily ever after, the end.

We left our would-be heroine galloping across the country, desperately clinging to the man who's repeatedly threatened to kidnap and impregnate her. A message to my heart

I’m probably too old to be writing about talking cats but, hey, gotta do something. This is technically a post I made on warriorcatsarpg.com (Which I’m biased but is p fun check it out). I just had a lot of muse for this poor dude.

Frostlight was surprisingly not too fond of leaf-bare, even if his name would have you think otherwise. Still, the snow white tom pushed himself out of the warmth of the elders' den, his joints popping like a popcorn kernel as he did so. Even though he was weary from the traveling he had something he needed to do, a tradition of sorts, and as a WindClanner he held traditions very near to his heart. Once a moon he would take the journey outside of camp, which nowadays he rarely left, and go sit on top of Outlook Rock where he and Wildflower had their first date. From this spot not only could he see all of the territories but he was closer to the stars that way. He would tell her everything that happened, all the clan news, who of their old friends had passed away, about how the kittens always got into his fur, everything she would have loved. Then, he would make his way back to his nest before sunrise, except this time his clan would not find the elder in his nest the next morning. However Outlook Rock was gone, he had made do with what high points he could find during the travels but part of him wondered if the stars could even hear him in this foreign land. However he managed to find a nice spot near a cliffside and gently lowered himself down, he could not move as quick as he once did, his back had been causing him pain for moons, but the journey had worsened it. At one point Frostlight was the quickest cat of his generation, none could run faster than he could, never losing a race - not once! Now he was sure a turtle could run circles around him, but he was not upset with that he had a full life full of many memories and knew that it was time for the younger generation to have their fun. Frostlight gazed up at the stars his cloudy blue eyes locking in the brightest one, even if cataracts had consumed his vision, leaving everything tinted with fog, he could still find the stars and he was thankful for that much. As the stars above him twinkled with a brightness that he had not seen in the moors for at least a season now he could tell that StarClan was strong here. WindClan would be safe, he truly believed that. "Hello, my love." The white tom mewed, his voice quiet and tired, he was still trying to catch his breath from the trek up here from camp. "A lot has happened, so you may want to grab a rabbit, I assume StarClan of all places would have a fine rabbit." He said with a chuckle, lowering himself down slowly and curling his fluffy white tail around his paws, the entire time the snow crunching below him. "I guess.. I'll start off with the bad, when we were making our way through the mountains.. a bear attacked us. I never have seen anything as big! Warriors and apprentices rushed in... but.. many were injured, Thornwind - that old fool! He rushed in, he was always one to never think before acting, the elders were told to stay back but of course, he didn't listen, and no him being deaf isn't an excuse." Frostlight said with a huff, Thornwind was his dear friend, an apprentice who he aspired to be like as a kit, and a dear friend later in life. "I didn't see it at first..what he was doing, I was closer than he was, I..I should have.." The elder's voice broke, tears streaming from his face as that moment played in his head. "He knocked an apprentice out of the way." He then mewed between breaths as he desperately tried to make himself just breathe but it was hard when the sadness of a memory sucked the air right out of you. "The apprentice is fine, Fairypaw, but... Thorn...Thornwind didn't make it." Perhaps it was silly to tell his mate this, of course, those two were probably both in StarClan being chummy. Once the tears stopped blurring his vision more than it already was he glanced back up at the stars and for a moment he swore he saw a second star twinkling alongside the Northstar. "Thornwind, I bet you're up there having a good ol' laugh at me crying right now. You just remember to keep your paws to yourself, Wildflower is my gal!" "We got here though, I hear its huge... I haven't been able to get out of my nest that often, its-I'm.. I guess I'm just always tired lately, it's getting worse as the moons pass. We're safe here. This will be a great home, and oh my dear flower, you would love Palestar. Every day she shows herself to be one of the finest leaders we have ever had. Her heart is kind, her voice is soft and full of wisdom - of course, a former medicine cat will guide the clan closer to the stars, more than we ever were..you would love her." The leader reminded her of his mate so much, kind, caring, thoughtful, but willing to stand up for her clan. Making the clan one that helps others and keeps the peace, a place where he knows his sons would be safe. "She just had her kits, they're strong! Apparently, Dawnflower, Polkastrike, and Palestar will raise them.. not quite sure how that works, but I'm not one to judge, just means those kids will be loved by three cats and who can have anything bad to say about that! Their names are Nymphkit, Juniperkit, Hawkkit, and Woolykit, they're the first to be born in this new land by the lake but they won't be the last, I'm sure of it." He mewed with a smile, kits had always warmed his heart, always will. He was a father, a grandfather, soon to be a great-grandfather. All he really wanted in life was a big successful family, that was all he needed. "Flowerblossom is pretty far along in her pregnancy too, soon she and Polarislight will be parents! Did you ever imagine we'd be great-grandparents, love?" He asked, the smile only growing, his son was a fine warrior and his mate was a strong she-cat, claws sharpen than anyone else's! "Some strangers joined recently too... I hear they're loners, perhaps kitty-pets some are nervous about them joining us, Berryheart said they won't help the clan. Don't you worry tho! I made sure to remind her that if you were here you would have ripped her ear off for that. I swear, you're more of a warrior than I ever was, you might have been born a kittypet but you had the heart of a lion!" He not only loved his mate, but admired her, he respected Wildflower more than anything in the world she had constantly proved herself to be strong, loyal and was also the most beautiful cat he had ever seen. The white tom's eyes were starting to close, he laid his head down in his paws and let out a purr of amusement, "You're a tough one, you're just who the clan needs right now." As he got comfortable again he thought about his sons, his family..everything that had gone on, had he missed anything? Perhaps, his memory was not as good as it once was either. "I think the kids know what's going on... They're smart, its pretty obvious. Dawnflower says there's not much she can do, I don't blame her there's no herb to cure old age." Frostlight said with a sigh, he wouldn't want to waste herbs anyways, not with how many were injured from the journey to the lake. "I don't mean to worry them, I'm just so tired all the time it's hard to keep up with everyone, I try my best, I know you wouldn't want me lazing around all day." A silence filled the cliffside, the white tom was blending in well with the snow on the ground that was still falling from the skies. It was almost like mother nature was tucking him into his final resting place with a blanket of snow. Even if it was cold it did not matter much to Frostlight, he needed to fulfill his commitment to his mate, no matter what. He had promised her when they were just apprentices that he would always tell her everything, their relationship had been open and honest and even with her death he would keep that going. "Sorry my flower, give me a moment, I'm just so tired." Frostlight said softly, his voice trailing off into the silence of winter, the whole world was asleep and at peace. The moon's glow illuminated the area around the elder, but soon there was something brighter to be seen. "It's alright sweetheart, come, tell me on the way, we can take our time, I want to know everything." A voice said, leaning down to nudge the white tom with her nose. The white elder opened his eyes and just stared, she was here, and still as beautiful as ever. A stunning calico but now stars were laced into her fur and as he looked down at his paws he saw those same stars. "Well my flower, it all started on Outlook Rock.." When his clan would find him, they would at least know he died happily, for the last thing he saw was the love of his life and so he died with a smile upon his face.

Two weeks have passed since that day on the parking lot.

Paul spent every night sleeping under Arya's window and every day trying to either get his mind off her or to get her to talk to him.

Apparently telling Sam about her working with a vampire started a brother/sister fight that Arya blamed Paul for and got even angrier at him, refusing to even acknowledge his existence.

Their dispute was bringing pain, both mental and physical to not only them, but the pack as well. In hopes of mending their bond and ridding themselves of their constant whining, the pack decided to throw a beach party.

While Paul had been growing distant from Rachel, Arya grew even closer to Embry. She didn't view him in a romantic sense, more like a best friend she never had, however Paul wasn't happy with her fondness of the younger wolf.

Paul's temper was worse then ever. Every little thing ticked him off which caused a lot of impromptu shifts, one even inside his house. 

On the other hand, Arya was eerily calm after her initial fight with Sam two weeks ago. Sam broke out his big brother card and forbade her to return to work which caused a rift between the siblings. It would be safe to say Sam wasn't in her good graces either. Emily played a mediator a few times, but each time it would end up in a screaming match.

'I am a grown woman Sam, you will not tell me what to do!' she yelled only for Sam to respond 'I promised you I'd protect you and this is ME protecting YOU! He's a vampire Arya, what do you think would happen if he lost control even for a second? Huh?! You'd be dead and it wouldn't be just your demise!'

Even after the pack explained to her everything about vampires: their cold, pale, flawless, hard as concrete skin, their immortality, the red eyes which she immediately connected to those that often plagued her dreams, but also the amber eyes of the entire Cullen clan that was apparently tied to their diet, she still insisted Carlisle was not a danger to her.

'Not all monsters do monstrous things Sam. All of you are monsters in a way, the bad guys in any fairy tale I've ever read, and yet you're not running around ripping people apart. They aren't either. I doubt they chose that lifestyle anymore than you did. The Cullen's are using their actions to prove that just because nature made you a predator you don't have to be a killer. That matters. Their choice of food matters. Why can't you guys understand that?!'

But each and every time that would end up with a room full of shaking boys running outside shifting soon after. It hurt her that not only were they so close-minded but that they also didn't trust her judgement. Seth seemed to be the only one who actually trusted her as he often sided with her, while she stopped talking about it with Embry completely, all in order to preserve their friendship.

As she got ready for the beach party, putting on shorts because it was strangely warm outside for this time of year, grabbing a 'Slytherin pride' jumper she walked outside to meet Embry.

„Hey Ems!“ she greeted him with a hug he eagerly returned. Some would maybe mistaken this action for a romantic gesture but neither truly felt more than a strong, almost brotherly connection. When he laid his eyes on her face he saw deep, dark circles under her eyes informing him of her long, sleepless nights. She was pale and her mood sullen, but she did a really good job covering it with a small fake smile she put on for the world to see hoping to avoid any questions. But she couldn't fool him for he already knew her better than that.

Embry could tell her fight with both Sam, her brother, and Paul, her soulmate was taking it's toll on her. Unfortunately he was forbidden to tell her about Paul imprinting on her or divulge anything directly about the recent Seattle situation that was going to soon involve them as well, but he needed to do something to help his friends finally find common ground.

Walking to the beach with their pinkies hooked together he noticed Sam and Emily were already by the grill making sure no one would starve today. Seth and Leah were playing volleyball, Quil was with Jacob and Bella on a log while Paul was sitting with Rachel a bit away from the crowd. Embry could see he was staring blankly at the crashing waves before him while Rachel went on and on about something Paul probably didn't give a damn about. He felt his friend tense next to him as she saw the couple as well, her lip quivered slightly as she turned to him.

„Please tell me there is alcohol here?“

Embry raised an eyebrow as a smirk grew on his face „have you ever had any alcohol before?“

„No, but it seems like a good day to start drinking“, she quickly replied with a strained smile.

He grabbed a few beers and watched her take a sip. Just as she took her first sip she choked up and started coughing which drew the attention of the pack as well.

„Wow. Didn't expect it to taste like that.“

„What did you expect it would taste like then?“ he looked at her with amusement. Truth be told he only ever had one beer a year ago and he grabbed it at a party he crashed with Quil and Jacob.

„I don't know, but not like...that!“ she points at the beer with a genuine smile spreading across her face. Regardless of her previous complaint she continued to down the beverage, finding she rather enjoyed the cool burn spreading down her throat to the stomach.

Embry guided her to Bella as he challenged the guys to play soccer with an agenda of his own.

The pack was running around, laughing and clearly having some well deserved fun while Arya and Bella conversed about the Cullens. They quickly bonded over their mutual understanding and beliefs regarding the family. Bella told her of Esme's nurturing side, about Emmet being a gentle giant, Rosalie's hard exterior, Alice and her visions and mad fashion skills, Jasper with the mood control abilities and finally her own soulmate Edward, the mind reading virtuoso. They were so engrossed in the conversation they barely noticed when Embry collided into Paul causing the latter to fall straight onto a big rock ending with a big, nasty cut. Rachel screamed and it drew the girls attention to the beach. Noticing a hurt Paul on the floor Arya broke into a sprint showing up seconds later. Dropping to her knees she inspected the injury while asking the boys what happened. The injury was deep and needed stitches, but her bag was back in the house.

„We need to get him to the house, I have my suture-kit in a bag with sterile gauze and bandages.“ She urged.

„Don't worry, I'll heal, it's not a big deal“, he responded as she looked at him, already getting red in the face, but this time it was from anger not embarrassment. One look from her was enough to know she wasn't joking around and it shut him up instantly. For weeks he longed for a moment alone with her to plead his case and now he would finally get it. She put a beach towel on his cut to absorb some of the blood and to put a bit of pressure on the wound.

She helped him up and offered herself as a crutch of sorts for him to lean on.

„I'm coming with you“, Rachel stated before they even made a step.

Paul mentally groaned but thankfully Embry stepped in, „Rach, he's in good hands, she's a trauma specialist. Besides you faint at anything more than drawing blood.“

Rachel walked away, but everyone could see how pissed she was. Jacob tried talking to her but it only angered her more. She could feel Paul slipping through her fingers. He'd been distant from the day that girl walked into their lives. She often asked him if there was something going on between them or if he imprinted, but he denied everything. She knew better tho'. Paul never looked at her the way he looks at Arya and it hurt her deeply. There was always hope that one day he'd feel just as strongly for her as she did for him, but from the looks of it, those dreams were dead and gone.

Meanwhile, Arya was walking with Paul, since the house was not that far away from the beach. Paul leaned on her just enough to make her believe she was really helping him walk, but he knew if he truly leaned on her they'd both fall straight to the ground.

Finally getting to the house Arya sat him on the couch and quickly disappeared upstairs only to come down not a minute later.

„First I'll have to clean the cut and it might sting a little.“ She said with her eyes concentrating on his leg, her gentle hands already in white gloves holding a dark brown bottle in one and a gauze in the other hand. She started cleaning the cut making him wince in pain.

She looked up to him with a smile playing on her lips „sorry tough guy, told you it might sting.“

God, he knew he'd take any amount of pain just to be near her as long as possible. Her lilac perfume filled his nostrils and helped him relax. Oh, how much he'd give to be able to nuzzle into her neck, to kiss her lips, play with strands of her wavy hair.

„I'm gonna give you an anesthetic to numb the area before I do the stitches. Werewolf or not, that will hurt.“

„I'm sorry“, he said suddenly.

„If you're apologizing because I'm about to go near your leg with a needle and a thread then you'll need a better apology then that“, she said with a cool and almost amused tone as she injected the anesthetic into the wound.

„No, I mean I really am sorry. I'm sorry about your car“, he continued while she looked at him with wide eyes, „about that fight, about getting Sam on your case too and about anything I might have done to hurt you. Hurting you was never my intention.“

He saw the shock register on her face before she could hide it. A small smile played on his lips, but it wasn't what he said though, his words were like pudding, sweet in an ordinary sort of way, it was the richness of his tones; luxurious and warm that drew her to him in way no one else could.

Before she could say anything he continued, „Don't get me wrong, I am still very much against you going near those leeches and there is no way in hell I'm letting you get hurt by them, but I am sorry about the way I went behind your back to tell Sam and the rest of the pack.“

She nodded and started sewing the cut shut. Her fingers worked fast and delicately. It was easy to see why she was a prodigy in her field, her talent clearly showing. After she was done with the stitches, she used another dark bottle with a darker, brownish liquid to drench a gauze she put over the stitches and a long white bandage to secure it. Just as she finished Rachel walked in with Embry following close behind. She ran up to Paul and hugged him in an excessive way that Arya couldn't help but roll her eyes at.

„Oh baby, you're okay“ she repeated during the hug which only irritated Arya more causing her to grab her things and leave the room.

She walked back to the beach with Embry next to her, grabbed the first beer she could find and downed it in seconds. Finishing the beer she grimaced, grabbed Embry's hand and plopped them both down on the sand.

It was already sunset and the romantic setting made her heart yearn for a certain wolf she swore to never think of again.

As the sun disappeared on the horizon she saw the fire was already lit, music was playing in the background and more importantly Paul was back with Rachel. She snorted grabbing her third beer of the day, already feeling slightly tipsy and Embry looked in the same direction.

„You okay?“ he asked.

„I’m drinking a cocktail of depression, anxiety, and insecurities“, she replied, not aware of a certain hothead listening in.

„You know, he doesn't love her“, he stated making her look at him with furrowed eyebrows.

„Before the shift, he was the biggest flirt in school, a player. Every week he'd date a different girl. He was short-tempered and got into fights and was a big ass to everyone. It all changed when he shifted. He had to control his anger better because one mistake could mean someone's life was done. That's why Sam gave us all orders not to talk to people outside the pack unless they were family or an imprint... So a player finds himself unable to talk to all the girls throwing themselves at him and a girl that knows of us rolls into town, what does he do?“ She looked at him confused and he shook his head in fake disappointment.

„He's with her because she is the only girl in on the secret that isn't a) related to him or b) someone else's imprint and c) because he's a stubborn ass.“

„Doesn't change the fact she's there rubbing herself on him.“ she spat out.

„Perhaps, but I know he's an idiot, because you're a catch.“

„Thanks Ems.“ She replies resting her head on his shoulder.

„Because your other nickname would be Bry, I'd be happy to change it if you want to“, she replied with fake innocence.

A little further away Paul stood watching his imprint drinking and laughing with a different man. Rachel was practically rubbing herself on him, trying to kiss him a few times but what she didn't understand was how her touch was making him physically sick. He wanted Arya to touch him, not in a sexual way, , never anywhere other than his face, his hands, his hair. His warmth would seep into her being and he would comfort her without ever opening his mouth. She'd melt into him like ice-cream on a warm porcelain bowl, because she belonged next to him just as he belonged next to her. And each time before they parted the aching to be in his arms would begin anew.

He knew this wasn't working anymore. He long lost the fight, not with the bond, but with her. Her kindness, intelligence, laughter, innocence and many many other things called to him. He longed for her in every sense of the word. He knew what he had to do. Sparing one last look to the one that captured his heart and soul, he took Rachel's hand and guided her away from the crowd.

„Rachel, we need to talk.“

does the child go to prom with their friends, or a partner? they all manage dates; Lex and Sara give them death glares before they leave

what are the child’s friends like? do they get along with the parents? they tend to stick together, but the boys definitely have crushes on Louene’s friends

what kind of music is the child into? all sorts like all sorts, and they all end up sharing their music with one another in some melting pot of sound

how do the parents and child/ren go learning to drive? is it a disaster, or does it go fairly smoothly? Sara holds on for dear life, Lex laughs while they do donuts in the parking lot

does the child have a casual/part time job? what is it? sara is a big proponent about them working, but lex gives them extra cash and summer internships without question

who does the child take after now? they are a perfect mix of noble captain and corrupt executive

does the child make it to adulthood? all of them do don’t make me think sad thoughts, question. that’s rude af

does the child end up in the job/lifestyle they dreamed about? why? yep they all do, including lincoln who became a bit of a pop/rock star

are their any hiccups in the road? tons, but sara and lex are always there

does the child move far away from their family, or stay close? licoln is a jet setter, louene runs the company and has sunday dinner every week, leander becomes a philanthropist physician without expecting it 

what would the parents prefer? they all be happy

does the child have any significant others? any children of their own? eventually, louene settles down with a genius engineer and has one kid (alexander); lionel never marries but is a devoted uncle; leander marries a pulitzer prize winning journalist and has five children

how do the parents feel about being or not being grandparents? they love being grandparents
