Let me start off by saying I will always love Bake Off. It is the best baking show out there because of the cozy vibes and the way the bakers support one another. In Bake Off, competition itself isn’t the priority and the bakers restore a little of your faith in the goodness of humanity.
However, the start of this season signaled to me that it continues to move away from its bread and butter and is trying to mold itself into something it isn’t.
Don’t get me wrong, it has been on this track for a couple seasons now but I thought they would stop and readjust but they haven’t. This show was built on regular good hearted people. They didn’t have fancy jobs, they weren’t rolling in money, and they baked to feed the people around them and as a love language. What they baked during Bake Off was rough around the edges in presentation because that was the point. Nobody in their daily lives had the time to bother about the superficial appearance of their food as they juggled work and other responsibilities. As a bonus, there were baking history lessons to learn the ancient origins of modern everyday staples as it set itself further apart from hyper-competitive professional baking shows as a show for and about the regular working class person. Bake Off marketed itself as being down-to-earth and firmly rooted in community; celebrating people who went ignored by its competitors. And it found great success!
It doesn’t seem like Bake Off is for these salt of the earth bakers anymore. What is the value of hyper-realistic edible art for someone who grabs a few precious hours every week to bake in between working full time and trying to pay the bills?! What is the purpose of making an uncommon cake without a recipe?! What is the point of requiring equipment and techniques to succeed that cost a lot of money to acquire?! These challenges get more and more outlandish and the bakers are given less and less time AND FOR WHAT?! So that Paul and Prue can have the smuggest grins on their faces as they watch people struggle?!
People watch Bake Off because it isn’t Iron Chef or Sugar Rush. The appeal of this show is that they are not professional bakers so stop designing professional level challenges with professional level standards.
Stop consistently emphasizing finesse and appearance.
This show’s appeal was cemented years ago in the good old days and it remains because people are clinging to the few scraps of similarities left. This show is being destroyed while it acts as a vehicle for Paul and Prue’s ego trips.
Enough already. Stop before it’s too late and go back to your roots.
Please.
#gbbo#great british bake off#gbbo 2024#gbbo commentary#a plea to gbbo to stop its track towards self destruction#the bakers are what make bake off#and I hope that these bakers are as supportive and encouraging of one another as in previous years#the MINUTE that is lost… bake off is RUINED#I don’t want professional perfection in bake off#I don’t want hypercompetitive bakers#they have no place in my cozy warm hearted baking show

Itachi, whose soul can be compared to the gentle beat of a butterfly’s wings. Who’s a man of few words, but always tries his best to create meaningful conversation with you. And when you understand, without a word, that his social battery is at zero, and you offer to watch his favorite movie, his heart swells to the point of bursting. Who ends up falling asleep halfway through.
Itachi, who you’d label a pacifist at heart. Who does everything in his power to be good at communicating when you argue. Who never yells or insults you. Who understands that it’s you and him versus the problem, not you pitted against each other. Who’s strong. Who will defend you to the death, putting his sharp skills to use if anyone so much as looks at you the wrong way.
Itachi, whose eyes flutter shut, smiling tenderly and letting out the cutest hum of satisfaction when you frame his face and repeatedly smooth your thumbs over his defined smile lines. Who craves your affection, your touch, the intimacy you easily share with him. Who clings to you like an octopus when you sleep.
Itachi, who, quite often, does his best impression of a puppy and begs you to take a warm bath with him. Who will fill it with bubbles, and once you are fit snug between his thighs, will slip his arms around your waist and gently guide you back onto his chest. Who will place a chaste kiss to your temple when you rest your head on his collarbone. The steady thud of his heart beat combined with the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest makes you doze off.
Itachi, who lights up like the sun when you ask to braid his hair. It’s so long and soft, the strands like silk when you brush your fingers through them. Who resembles a large, purring cat when your nails scratch gently at his scalp. Who gets sleepy, head tilting forward and jerking back up where he sits between your legs as the sensation of having his hair played with relaxes him entirely.
Itachi, who, unfortunately, is not the best cook. Regardless, he still wants to spend time with you in the kitchen, so he asks you to teach him to bake. He falls in love with it, and even more with you. Who laughs so hard he has to place a hand on his stomach and sit down on the floor when you accidentally drop a bag of flour and cover every inch of your body with it. Who can’t stop giggling when he finds traces of flour in your hair, even after you’ve showered. Who bakes you special treats every week just because he can.
Itachi, who’s a genius. A prodigy. Who’s more intelligent than you could ever hope to be. Who’s so perceptive you genuinely worry he possesses the supernatural ability to read your mind. Who gets entirely too amused when he beats you at chess, for what seems like the hundredth time, and you accuse him of being able to see inside your head.
Itachi, whose eyesight….. isn’t great, even on the best of days. Who you find with his nose buried in a book most days of the week. Who squints so harshly at the small print that you roll your eyes and have to scold him about remembering to wear his glasses. Who pouts softly, but does as he’s told. Who sometimes pretends to fall asleep on the couch while reading just so you’ll take off his glasses for him. Who then pulls you close and kisses the smile off your lips.
Itachi, who paints his nails. Who wears whatever he feels like, but mostly buys things that are soft on his skin and keep him warm. Who’s stunning when he dresses up. But, who’s so pretty your chest clenches tight even when he’s lounging in sweats and a cozy sweatshirt. Who you’ve over heard singing Billie Eilish in the shower more than once.
Itachi, who does chores around the house to show his love. Who spontaneously brings you your favorite snacks or drinks. Who’s adorable when he shows up with a shy, secret smile, hiding something behind his back. Who touches you constantly. Resting your feet in his lap, kissing your forehead, making sure your sides are touching when you sit together. Who gives you butterflies when he subtly locks your pinkies.
Itachi, who was simply terrified you and Sasuke wouldn’t get along. His little brother means the world to him, after all. Who chewed his fingers to the nub worrying over it. Who almost cried tears of relief when you and Sasuke became fast friends. Of course, that was only after he deemed you worthy of being Itachi’s girlfriend.
Itachi, who cries on your wedding day. Who waits on you hand and foot when you get pregnant with your first baby. Whose shoulders seem lighter, less burdened, when he holds your son for the first time. Who loves you, and you alone. Who would watch the world burn if it meant keeping you safe. Who’s your favorite person in the world, until death do you part.
⇣ ༝ ⇣ ༝ ⇣ ༝ ⇣
Itachi, whose lips are sticky and warm when he coaxes you into a sweet kiss, guiding your arms to wrap around his neck. Whose hands settle on the base of your skull, thumbs digging into the muscle behind your jaw as he tilts your head to deepen it further. Who swallows your moans and nips at your bottom lip, pushing his wet tongue into your mouth when you open for him.
Itachi, who litters your neck and chest with dark purple hickies. Who needs everyone to see who you belong to. Who murmurs “so pretty, and all mine,” between each love bite. Who kisses the hollow of your throat and nuzzles his nose with yours, a honeyed heat rolling through you. Whose own neck is super ticklish. Who giggles uncontrollably when you straddle his lap and press gentle kisses to the side of his throat.
Itachi, who can’t keep himself away from your tits. Who warms his hands before he grabs them, sucking on your soft nipples until they harden between his lips. Who pinches and tugs on them, bouncing them playfully.
Itachi, who doesn’t like to curse. Who dissolves into a whimpering, nasty mouthed mess when you swallow his cock. Who prefers you on your knees while he sits at the edge of the bed. Who white knuckles the sheets, breath spilling out as shaky exhales and whiny moans when your slick lips drag up his shaft. Who throws his head back, hand resting on the back of your head to anchor himself while you suck on his balls and jerk him off.
Itachi, who pulls the tie from his hair when he eats you out. Who places your hands on his head and instructs you to weave your fingers in his hair to keep it off his face. Who keeps two fingers stuffed inside your pussy the entire time, occasionally curling them into your g-spot. Who licks your clit and swirls his tongue until you’re squeezing tight and shouting out your pleasure.
Itachi, whose dick is unbelievably sensitive. Whose thighs twitch and jump, chewing on his bottom lip to stifle high pitched moans when you sink down on his cock. Whose large hands palm your ass, gazing up at you with a tender expression while he supports your weight. Who gasps and squeezes his eyes shut when his cock kicks, filling you with a new warmth when you sit down on him for the fourth time.
Itachi, whose cheeks are dusted a rosy pink, sweat beading on his forehead as he averts his eyes. Who shoves his face into your neck when you tease him about your pussy being too much for him to handle. Who rolls you and clutches the backs of your knees, pinning them to the bed.
Itachi, whose shameless breeding kink makes an appearance. Who rolls his hips with slow and steady motions, pushing his cum back inside you. Whose eyes are glued to the way the sticky white mess covers his cock, the tight heat of your pussy swallowing him so well he could scream.
Itachi, who fucks you through each one of your toe curling orgasms, whispering encouragement that makes your cheeks burn so hotly it travels behind your eyes. Who helps clean you afterwards, kissing your cheeks, your forehead, and cuddles you close to his chest. Who rubs your back until you drift off to sleep.

— COOKIES
order #6 of the coffee shop series: a cookie
ingredients. y/n x barista!felix. he’s never had a gf before. hopeless pining on felix’s end. mostly fluff with some angst. also the boys keep trying to play shitty wingmen again.
allergies. making out and felix being awkward
size. 3.2k
special add ons. felix is a sociable, confident, kind barista at yellow wood café. but once you show up on one rainy day, you turn him into a mess.
you hadn’t prepared for the rain to come so quickly.
the forecast had said that it would only pick up in the afternoon, and you figured that you would be home by then. so of course, you had left your umbrella at home.
you decided to run into the nearest building, hoping to stay there until the rain had died down a little.
it was a coffee shop, one that you hadn’t been to before. you had no clue how you didn’t know the place existed. it seemed like just your type of hang-out spot.
the difference between the café and outside was stark. looking through the windows, it was gloomy and intense, while inside, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. the smell of coffee brewing and people chatting filled your senses.
“can i help you?” you had been staring off for a minute now, your entire body drenched in rain.
“sorry,” you apologized, “i was just looking for somewhere to be until the rain stopped.”
“you’re alright! could i get anything for you while you wait?”
your eyes stared the barista up and down. he was around your age— and was the epitome of sunshine. his features were gentle and strikingly beautiful.
his name tag read “felix.”
then, you drifted towards the menu on the counter, written in chalk, slightly smudged.
“are the cookies any good?” you questioned, staring at the cute plastic containers full of baked goods, specifically the heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies.
“well, i baked them myself, so they better be good.” felix’s shy smile told you that he was proud of his baking.
“i’ll buy one and see for myself.”
usually, the freckled barista wasn’t nervous at comments like these, but your gentle eyes made his heart flip in ways that he didn’t quite understand. “will that be all?”
“for now.”
he rang you up, handing you the cookies straight out of the container.
without waiting to sit down, you bit into the cookie.
two of felix’s fingers met his neck, checking his pulse quickly— a nervous habit of his.
but his nerves turned into excitement as your eyes lit up.
“i’ll take two more cookies and a mocha, please!”
felix couldn’t help but smile widely, “our muffins are really good too. we have blueberry and chocolate chip right now, but i’m working on a recipe for a cappuccino muffin.”
you cut his ramble short, “i’ll try both. and a brownie.”
“got a sweet tooth?” he rolled up the sleeves of his baby blue cardigan to begin making your mocha, “i don’t want you to get any cavities.”
“i’ll have just one bite of each and bring it home with me,” you reasoned, taking a stool at the bar, “i have nothing better to do, anyway. the rain says it’ll last for another hour.”
“so you’re gonna spend that hour taste-testing the treats?”
“i’ve never been here before, i better start working on my regular order.”
“will you be a new regular?”
“if the mocha is good. otherwise i think i’ll just go back out into the rain, i’m already drenched anyway.”
there you go again. causing felix to worry about how good his barista skills were in a way that nobody does.
he couldn’t help but drizzle a chocolate heart on top before handing it to you.
immediately felix jumped back. “your hands are freezing!”
“that’s what happens when you’re in the rain.”
you couldn’t help but chuckle at felix’s concern. it wasn’t bad at all.
“i think this goes against every rule we have here,” felix shrugged off his cardigan, throwing it across the counter.
immediately your quiet laugh died down, your stomach twisting with butterflies. mostly at how kind the freckled boy was, but you couldn’t ignore the way that the white shirt under it clung to him tighter.
“thank you.” you wrapped yourself in the cardigan, breathing in a faint scent of a fruity perfume, almost masked by the overwhelming smell of coffee.
“felix,” chan, his boss, nudged him with a grin, “did you just do what i think you did?”
if it were any other barista, they would’ve been scolded. but felix had taken up a large spot in chan’s heart, one that meant that he refused to rebuke the boy.
“she was cold! right, y/n?” he defended, “she just came in from the rain outside.”
“so you’re just gonna give every customer your clothes if they’re cold?”
you could see a faint red tint forming on felix’s ears, “well no! but she’s new, i wanted to give her a warm welcome.”
there was a familiar look in chan’s eyes, one that felix could spot from miles away. one of knowing.
“alright then. i’m glad you were able to earn us a new customer. even if it meant giving up your clothes.”
“do you have any paper?” you interrupted with a mouthful of muffin, “and maybe a pen too?”
felix was thankful that you saved him from chan. “yeah! i’ll get it for you. hold on.”
thirty minutes later, once a spot of sunlight through the clouds had appeared, you were gone.
felix glanced over at your spot, sadness pulling on his heart, full of what if’s.
what if you didn’t come back? what if that was the last time he would see you?
he noticed the piece of paper left behind.
the title read, “felix’s bakery ranking.”
first place was the cookies. second was the brownies. then the chocolate chip muffin, then the blueberry.
“she must love chocolate,” felix jumped at jeongin’s voice from behind him, “she also got a mocha, right?”
“how do you know? you weren’t even here.”
“chan was telling the group chat.”
“he was doing what?” felix reached for the phone in his back pocket to confirm his words.
“talking about how you were mesmerized by that girl.”
“was not!”
“you totally were,” chan patted his back, “i’ve never seen you smile that wide.”
“says a lot for how much he smiles.”
felix groaned as jeongin flipped over the scrap paper.
“see you at 3 tomorrow,” he read out, looking up at felix whose eyes widened, turning to chan.
“i don’t work tomorrow! can i work tomorrow?”
“so it isn’t just you being kind?”
“i need to get my cardigan back.”
“you’re a terrible liar. just admit that you want to see her again.”
“just schedule me to work tomorrow!”
the next day, felix was walking on clouds.
the boy normally walked with a pep in his step, serving customers with a comfortable kindness that nobody else could replicate, but today there was an extra hint of sweetness to everything that he did. even some of the most unobservant customers had pointed it out.
but each of the boys knew exactly why he was acting the way that he was, thanks to the messages that chan had sent.
as the vintage clock on the wall inched closer and closer to 3, felix became more dazed, clumsy even.
“are you sure that he should be working right now?” minho shot chan a questioning look.
“just let him get it out of his system.”
“but we’re cleaning up his spill messes all for a girl that he had one conversation with. he’s hopeless.”
“i don’t even think he’s had a girlfriend before.”
“really?” minho’s eyebrows raised, “with how all of the girls stick to him like glue?”
“i don’t think he knows how much of a heartthrob he is.”
chan glanced towards felix, who was busy chatting with two girls who had stopped by just a few minutes ago, “he’s clueless sometimes.”
the bell on the door rang as you stepped in, blue sweater in hand, eyes darting across the room to find the blonde boy who immediately abandoned his conversation.
“i came to return this,” you slid it across the counter, just as felix had done the previous day, “and get a cookie as well.”
“just the cookie?”
“and a mocha.”
“your total will be—“
“just give it to her for free,” chan whispered from behind, trying to help the frantic boy.
“it’ll be free today,” felix stumbled on his words, “and maybe i could heat the cookies for you too? they’re better warm.”
“that would be great,” you took a seat at the same spot as before, “your customer service is top tier. free service and a cardigan on a rainy day?”
“we try.” felix couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face, or take his eyes off of you.
even when you weren’t paying attention to him, typing on your laptop and munching on a cookie, he would stare at you, just barely hiding behind the espresso machine.
“why don’t you ask for her number?”
felix jumped as yet another barista appeared from behind him— something that had been happening too much recently. or perhaps he was just less focused on his surroundings.
“i can’t do that. what if she rejects me?”
“she would’ve let you down by now, do you know how obvious you’re making it?” hyunjin tried to reason with him.
“i guess that’s true, but i’m nervous. she’s really pretty.”
“so? you’re pretty too.”
felix gave the compliment a light laugh, “but she’s intimidatingly pretty.”
he kept an eye on the way your eyebrows furrowed in concentration, your finger tapping to the rhythm of the café’s record player on the table.
“you’re such a hopeless romantic. just get her number. she’s gonna leave again and you’re gonna be upset that you didn’t.”
“maybe.”
with those words in mind, felix shyly approached you, hands fumbling with the hem of his shirt.
“hey,” he started, almost chickening out just from your eye contact.
his fingers went to his throat, checking his pulse, “do you think i could get your number?”
when you stared at him in silent shock for a moment, he continued, “not as, like, a weird thing! i just want to be your friend.”
he could see hyunjin out of the corner of his eye, ready to pull out his hair in frustration.
your smile faltered, but you still took the phone from his hand, saving your name as y/n.
“text me later.” there was a hint of sadness in your voice that felix didn’t fail to pick up on, but he didn’t dare to comment on it.
he ran off into the back room, ready to scream over the most embarrassing, disappointing moment in his entire life.
hyunjin followed close behind, “felix! what the hell?”
“i got nervous!”
“so you decided to friend-zone her?”
“she could’ve friend zoned me first!”
“she obviously wasn’t going to!”
“but if she did then i think i’d die!”
hyunjin was close to slamming his head against the nearest wall. “i’m gonna die right now if you don’t walk back out there and tell her that you’ve spent the whole day thinking about how pretty she is!”
“she’ll think i’m weird!”
“then i’ll do it!” felix tried to hold him back but failed as hyunjin opened the door, only to be met with an empty spot where you used to be.
felix let go, his shoulders dropping.
“where is she?”
“i guess she left,” hyunjin turned to see his devastated friend.
“did i fuck up that badly?”
hyunjin bit his lip, trying not to make it worse for him than it already was. but the truth was that, yeah, he did.
“maybe she’ll be back.”
felix texted you that night while he sat in bed, deciding on, “hi it’s felix! :)”
he kept his cardigan next to him.
perhaps it was a little creepy, but he decided to sniff it. it smelled different than usual. perhaps that’s what you smelled like.
perhaps he would never even get to know what you smelled like.
tears brimmed his eyes as he shut off his phone, staring up at the fan on his ceiling, letting the noise drown out the eerie silence.
felix wanted to slap himself for being such an idiot. he had no problem talking to people, he was the most extroverted extrovert that an extrovert could get. but he couldn’t help but question everything he did in front of you, even if he had just met you.
you didn’t respond.
when felix showed up to work the next day, it was like the sunshine was hidden behind a rainy cloud.
he knew that it shouldn’t have affected him as much as it did. he knew that checking to see if he got a text every minute wasn’t normal, or whip his head toward the door every time a customer came in.
so felix spent another night in his bed, phone in hand, staring at the text that he sent.
would it just be easier to forget about you? it’s not like he had anything going with you anyway.
it was only when he set it down for the night and closed his eyes that it began to ring, and he sprang right back up, eyes widening as he stared at the caller ID.
it was minho.
“hello?” felix answered, voice filled with sleep.
“you were upset at work today,” he stated, “is it because of that girl?”
“you could see it?”
“everyone could. like we always do.”
“i’m just gonna try to forget about it.”
“don’t.”
“what do you mean?”
“you have her number, right? come clean, text her that you were nervous. ask to meet up.”
“like a date?”
“exactly. ask her on a date.”
felix chewed on his lip, anxiety clouding his judgment once again. would he have the courage to even do that?
“chan said that you’re not allowed to work until you sort out your sadness. and nobody wants to cover your shifts, man.”
when minho hung up the phone, felix laid back against his pillows, letting out a breath of air that he didn’t know he was holding. then he checked his pulse.
opening your texts, he began typing. ‘i lied. it was something weird. you’re really pretty. you can block me if you want.’
he deleted the message.
‘actually,’
no.
‘i meant to ask for your number in a not-friend-way,’
no.
‘sorry for the other day. i was anxious and said the wrong thing, but i really wanted your number because i think you’re gorgeous. do you want to go out sometime?’
he sent the message and resisted the urge to chuck his phone across the room. instead, he threw it back down onto the bed, grabbing the nearest pillow and squeezing it as hard as he could.
minutes later, felix heard his phone buzz. he scrambled to pick it up.
‘that’s ok. i was a little disappointed, you’re rly cute :)’
it buzzed again.
‘wanna come over tomorrow and watch a movie or something?’
his fingers shook, trying to type back, ‘sounds great! does 5 work?’
you reacted to his text with a thumbs up, and then he was back to squeezing the pillow.
felix didn’t work the next day. instead, he spent the day showering, squealing, spam-texting friends, and preparing for his first-ever date.
when you opened the doorbell, you were met with quite possibly the cutest sight in the entire world.
there felix was, holding a box of freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies in his shaky hands. “i baked these for you, kind of as an apology, kind of because i wanted to impress you. and i know you like the cookies.”
you giggled at his honesty, letting him inside as you took the box, “thank you felix, you’re such a sweetheart.”
he checked his pulse.
“sorry for the mess. i tried to clean a little, but i don’t have people over often.”
“it’s okay,” he was quick to reassure you, “my house doesn’t look all that clean either. kind of comes with being a human.”
you laughed, taking a seat on the couch. he followed your actions.
“so, about the whole number thing,” he toyed with the rip on his black jeans.
“i thought you were really really beautiful.”
suddenly, he was way too aware of how close you were to him. but he wouldn’t let himself get nervous again.
“one of my coworkers was telling me to ask for your number and i was nervous and thought that you wouldn’t like me like that.”
felix sighed, “so i ended up saying the wrong thing and giving you the wrong idea.”
when he looked back up, you were smiling, holding in laughter. “that’s honestly adorable.”
“really?”
“i got sad, i thought you were just that kind to everyone and that i was developing some crazy ego thinking that a boy as attractive as you would like me.”
“you think i’m attractive?” his ears were on fire by now, completely stiff as you leaned in to look him in the eyes.
“i don’t understand how you don’t know how attractive you are.”
“what do you mean?”
“do i have to spell it out for you?”
“probably.”
“i think you’re gorgeous.”
“i also think the same about you. you looked so cute eating all happily, and when you smile, it makes me want to kiss you.” he chewed his lip, trying to not regret his bold words.
something tense was in the air, something that made felix’s heart pound a thousand times faster.
“then do it.”
felix froze. was he supposed to tell you that he had never kissed a girl before, much less sat this close to one?
“well, are you going to? or are you getting shy again?”
“i’ve never kissed anyone.” he let his heart thud out of his chest at the confession.
your eyes visibly widened, “you? you haven’t had your first kiss?”
“or held hands with a girl. and i’ve never had a girlfriend.”
“that’s impossible.”
“i don’t know how to prove it.”
“your awkwardness does the job.”
you decided to make a move, “but i can show you how if you’d like.”
felix’s mouth went dry, unsure of what to do or say.
“it’ll come naturally. just let it happen,” you smiled reassuringly as he nodded.
climbing onto his open lap, your hands carded through his blonde hair.
you leaned in to meet his lips briefly, his eyes burning into your own.
it was a soft and gentle kiss, just like him. but his eyes were full of desire for more.
“can i have another?” his hands met your back, pulling you into him.
this time, the kiss lasted longer, so much longer that he began craving more of you, so he did what he saw in all the movies.
he slipped his tongue into your mouth, grinning against your lips in pride at his actions.
felix’s hands traveled to your waist as took your word, letting go of his anxieties and doing what came naturally.
and without even realizing it, he began to take the lead.
all of the feelings were overwhelming. the way that you tugged on his hair, how close your bodies were, the way your tongue felt against his own.
he never wanted to stop.
until his phone began ringing.
you pulled away and he let out a shaky breath, slowly opening his eyes to stare at your features up close.
“felix, your phone,” you reminded him.
he jolted out of the daze, reaching for it.
chan.
he was about to just cancel the call when he saw the spam texts, asking where he was.
with a heavy sigh, he answered with you still on his lap.
“did you make up with y/n?”
“be quiet! i’m with her right now!”
you let out a laugh.
“oh! tell her hi!”
felix hung up on his friend with a groan, turning the ringer off.
“can we go back to kissing again?”
“after he’s done blowing you up,” you pointed at the buzzing phone.

"I can't believe we just graduated!" Iris exclaimed, her voice bubbling with a mix of disbelief and exhilaration. She was practically bouncing on her heels, now that they changed into normal clothes and not the ones from the ceremony.
Mindy rolled her eyes, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. "I'm mostly surprised by the fact they let YOU graduate," Iris scoffed, her tone dripping with indignation. "You're dumb as fuck"
"Fuck you Mindy, I hope you die". Iris added with a glare, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You can ask your next girlfriend, who knows maybe you have a type". The moment the words tumbled out of her mouth, Iris's eyes widened, and before Mindy could react, Iris lunged at her. In an instant, she was on Mindy's back, trying to wrestle her to the ground in a flurry of insults and playful shoving.
Just then, Chad and Tara strolled by, drawn in by the chaotic situation. They paused, exchanging amused glances as they took in the scene.
"What's going on?" Tara asked, a bemused smile creeping across her face.
"Mindy is being a fucking asshole".
"So a normal day then". Chad quipped, a teasing glint in his eyes. He leaned against a nearby railing, arms crossed, clearly enjoying the show, all while ignoring the middle finger his sister threw at him. "We were going to ask you both to come and get pizza with us and Sam, but if you guys are busy..."
At that, Mindy and Iris exchanged a glance, a silent understanding passing between them. They both knew that pizza was far more enticing than their bickering.
"Yeah, okay, we can go," Mindy said with a grin, finally managing to shake Iris off her back. They began walking toward the parking lot, the sun shining down on them, casting a warm glow over the scene.
As they walked along, Chad chuckled, shaking his head. "They are so fucking weird," he remarked, gesturing at the duo who were now playfully jostling each other again, their laughter ringing out in the air.
They reached their favorite restaurant, a cozy little spot adorned with twinkling fairy lights and the aroma of freshly baked pizza wafting through the air. As they stepped inside, they spotted Sam already settled into a booth. Iris had just finished a call with her mother, reassuring her not to wait up. Ever since the attacks four months ago, her mom had insisted on knowing Iris's whereabouts at all times, and honestly she couldn't really blame her for it. They had all been lucky, and that knowledge weighed heavily on her heart.
Chad and Mindy slid into the booth beside Sam, while Iris and Tara took their seats across from them. The familiar chatter of the restaurant buzzed around them, a comforting backdrop to the occasion. Once they placed their orders, a wave of excitement and nervousness surged among them.
"So first of all, congratulations, guys! I'm so proud of you all," Sam declared, raising her glass high in celebration. The others quickly followed suit, their glasses clinking together with a satisfying sound.
"We did it! Not even fucking Ghostface could have stopped us from graduating!" Chad beamed, his smile warm and genuine as he took a sip of his drink.
"Honestly, I'm shocked we did it, but I'm really happy," Tara added, her voice laced with disbelief and joy.
Iris's smile faltered for a moment, her heart heavy as she thought of those who should have been there with them. "Yeah, can't help but think Wes and Liv should be here too," she sighed, the weight of her words casting a shadow over the table. A heavy silence enveloped them, each person acutely aware of the absence of their friends. They knew who else was missing in the celebration but no one wanted to say her name, especially not Iris; the ache of the betrayal was still too fresh.
"For Liv and Wes," Chad finally broke the silence, raising his drink again, his tone solemn. "This is for you guys."
"Wherever they are, I hope they're proud too," Iris muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. She felt Tara's hand squeeze hers softly, a comforting gesture that warmed her heart amidst the sorrow.
After a few moments of silence, Mindy shifted the conversation. "So, what are we doing next?" she asked, her voice lightening the mood. "We all got into Blackmore University, so we're definitely seeing each other's faces"
"Unfortunately, I still have to see yours," Iris shot back, unable to resist a teasing grin.
"My face card is amazing, Iris; you should be thankful I let you see it". Mindy retorted with a mock-seriousness that drew laughter from the group.
"I'm excited to finally leave this fucking town". Sam chimed in, her enthusiasm infectious. "We just need to find somewhere to live".
As they chatted about their plans, with Chad and Mindy dreaming of living independently and Sam and Tara discussing the kind of apartment they wanted, Iris sat in contemplative silence. The idea of living alone filled her with dread, yet she wasn't sure she could trust a random roommate either. The conversation swirled around her, but her thoughts drifted elsewhere.
After their meal, they decided to head to The Carpenter's house for a movie night. As Sam, Chad, and Mindy led the way, Tara slowed her pace, matching her steps to Iris's.
"What's on your mind?" Tara asked gently, her tone inviting Iris to open up.
"What do you mean?" Iris replied, trying to feign ignorance.
"You've been really quiet during dinner, and no offense, Ris, but you usually talk way too much for your own good."
"Okay, rude," Iris joked half-heartedly, but Tara didn't let it slide.
"C'mon, what happened?"
With a deep sigh, Iris turned her gaze to the floor, the weight of her worries pressing down on her. "I guess I'm just worried."
"About what?"
"Our life in New York," she admitted, her shoulders slumping in resignation. "I don't know how I'm going to find a place for myself."
"Why would you find a place for yourself alone?" Tara asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Because I have to live somewhere?" Iris replied, a hint of confusion creeping into her voice.
"I thought you were going to live with me and Sam."
"Wait, really?" Iris's heart skipped a beat.
"Yeah, we always included you in our plans," Tara said softly, her voice comforting. "I know you hate the idea of living alone, and you're just as paranoid as Sam, so obviously you're not going to live with someone you don't know on your own."
"I hate that you know me," Iris said, smiling at Tara while the shorter girl shrugged nonchalantly. “Are you sure you guys don't mind living with me?" her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Why would we?"
"Well... I mean," Iris stuttered, the hesitation lingering between them. Tara raised her eyebrows, encouraging her to continue. "We are rebuilding our friendship after everything. I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable."
Tara studied Iris for a moment, her gaze unwavering. "I would never be uncomfortable with you, Ris," she said, her voice softening. "Also, we can use this as a way to continue building our friendship again."
"Yeah, I would like that," Iris said, nudging Tara playfully, relief flooding her.
"Me too," Tara replied, a smile breaking across her face.
A whole month of packing, and endless preparations had led to this moment. It was time for Iris to leave for New York, a city that felt both thrilling and terrifying. As she stood in the driveway, she was pretty sure her mom had no tears left to cry. The goodbye was heavy, filled with unspoken fears and hopes.
"Iris, promise me you'll call every day," her mother insisted, her voice shaky. The grip on her daughter's hand was firm, desperate to hold into her for a little bit longer.
Iris nodded, her throat tight. "I promise." And as the tears spilled over, she was grateful that Mindy wasn't around to make fun of her for crying.
Mindy and Chad were already on their way with their mom, the excitement in their voices echoing in Iris's mind, while Sam was handling the logistics of moving all of her and her sister's things. That left Tara, who would be traveling with Iris, the one who had volunteered to drive.
When Tara arrived with her bags, the moment felt bittersweet. Rachel, Iris's mom, saw her and immediately burst into tears again, wrapping Tara in a tight embrace. "I can't believe you both are moving," she sobbed, holding them as if she could freeze time. "Remember when you two would come in here and help me make cookies?"
Tara smiled, her eyes shining with memories. "Those were amazing cookies, Rachel. The best." She could almost taste the warm chocolate chip dough and feel the laughter that filled the kitchen, a reminder of simpler times.
"You're both so grown up," Rachel said, pulling them into another hug, her voice muffled against their shoulders.
"God, Mom, you're gonna scare Tara with all your tears," Iris teased, trying to lighten the mood.
"Don't be mean, dear. I'm just emotional and old—leave me alone," Rachel retorted, a playful smile breaking through her tears. They truly were mother and daughter with the same sense of humor.
Tara laughed wholeheartedly, a sound that warmed the air around them. She adored the relationship Iris had with her mom, a bond filled with warmth and understanding. In fact, she felt a pang of longing for that kind of connection with her own mother, who had always seemed distant. Rachel had always treated Tara like one of her own, and she found herself getting more emotional saying goodbye to Rachel than to her own mother.
With one last hug, Tara moved to grab Iris's belongings. "Oh, Tara, you don't have to do that," Iris protested, reaching out.
"Say goodbye to your mom," Tara said gently, resting a hand on Iris's arm, her touch comforting. "I'll put this in the car." With that, she walked away, leaving Iris alone with her mother.
"I'm really glad you guys are friends again," Rachel said, her smile warm and knowing.
"Me too, I missed her," Iris admitted, her heart aching with a mix of happiness and guilt.
Rachel's gaze softened, filled with understanding. "She is good for you. Always has been."
Iris stared at her, momentarily confused by the implication. Before she could ask what her mom meant by that, Rachel pulled her into one last embrace. "Come on, don't leave her waiting. Call me when you guys arrive, okay, dear?"
"Okay, Mom. I love you," Iris said, squeezing her tightly, savoring the warmth of her mother's embrace.
"I love you more," Rachel replied, her voice breaking as she pulled away, wiping her cheeks but unable to hide the glistening in her eyes.
As Iris watched her mother step back, a sense of finality settled over her. She turned to find Tara waiting by the car, her face lit up with excitement. Taking a deep breath, Iris approached Tara, who was adjusting the last of the bags in the trunk. "Thanks for being here," Iris said, her voice steady but her heart still racing.
Tara looked up and smiled, her expression softening. "Always. Imagine how bored you would be without me."
"Let's go and start living our life"
Iris nodded, her heart swelling with a mix of hope and nostalgia. As they climbed into the car, the engine roared to life, and with one last glance at her childhood home, Iris felt the rush of excitement wash over her.
The sun was just starting to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink as Iris and Tara navigated the never-ending roadway. They had been on the road for hours, their excitement for the move to New York palpable, but the sea of red brake lights ahead could only mean they would be stuck for a couple of hours.
"Of course there's traffic" Tara sighed, tapping her fingers on the dashboard to the rhythm of the Taylor Swift song playing softly in the background. "We should've left earlier."
Iris glanced at her, a grin creeping across her face. "Maybe but we wouldn't have this quality time together." Tara rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a smile. They had spent the past month planning this move and the thought of finally being in the city was exhilarating. When they were younger, she recalled, they used to speak about moving to New York together after high school so they could go to the same college. Tara believed the dream was over two years ago, but now she couldn't believe it was actually happening. Gazing at Iris, she couldn't resist the smile that spread across her face.
Iris feeling the stare, turned to her friend with a smirk of her own. "Why are you staring at me you creep?"
"I can't believe you just called me a creep"
"Then don't act like one" Tara softly punched her in the arm while Iris pretended that it hurt her.
"I'm just happy"
"About what? It can't possibly be the traffic" Iris joked though they both knew what Tara meant.
"About us going to New York...together" Iris stared into Tara's eyes. "With the rest of course, but I just... I guess I never thought we would get here after everything".
"I will never not feel guilty about that" Iris stared down at the steering wheel in shame before Tara grabbed her hand and squeezed it in order to give her comfort.
"Don't, it wasn't your fault" Tara truly didn't blame her. "Don't get depressed, we still have like five hours in this car, if you cry I'm going to kill myself"
"Not guilty anymore, fuck you" They both laughed.
After a few moments, Tara received a message from Sam saying she was already at their new apartment while Chad and Mindy were close behind. It seemed as if they were the only two left with a long way to go, trapped in the confines of the car as the city loomed ahead like a distant dream.
"So what can we do in New York?" Iris asked, glancing out at the blurred skyline that gradually sharpened into focus. "Aside from visiting all the obvious places."
Tara's face lit up with enthusiasm. "We can watch a lot of movies." There was a spark in her eyes; she had always loved movies and her major in film studies reflected her passion. It was her escape, a world of imagination where anything was possible. But for Iris, who was knee-deep in her psychology studies, movies were just a distraction—something she'd never quite understood.
"When you say movies, I hope you don't mean horror movies," Iris said, a frown creeping onto her face. The very thought made her stomach twist uncomfortably. Tara and Mindy's casual enjoyment of the genre baffled her, especially after everything that had happened five months ago.
"Well..." Tara began, a playful glint in her eye.
"How can you like them so much? I'll never understand." Iris shook her head, exasperated.
"Horror movies are great for several reasons, Iris." Tara's tone shifted to that of a passionate lecturer, and Iris groaned in annoyance for the impending explanation. "First, they provide this incredible adrenaline rush from jump scares and tense moments. It's an addictive experience, really, embracing the unknown. Second, they explore deep themes, like the human psyche, societal fears, and moral dilemmas. And third," she continued, her excitement bubbling over, "it's just really fun to watch them with friends"
"I literally do not care about anything that you just said"
"You cared enough to listen until the end" Tara smiled cheekily at her, she knew Iris was just being annoying on purpose.
"Whatever" Iris muttered, crossing her arms. "Weirdo"
"Hater," Tara shot back, pointing a finger at her in exaggerated mock anger. "We can watch Hereditary, The Witch, It Follows, The Conjuring..."
"The only one I know is The Conjuring" Iris interrupted, her voice tinged with reluctance.
"Really? You watched it?" Tara asked, her eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Yeah, I watched it with Am..." Iris's voice trailed off, the name hanging heavily in the air. Just saying it conjured a wave of memories she wasn't ready to face. Amber. She had watched it with Amber.
"You know you can say her name, right?" Tara's gaze softened, her expression tinged with concern and pity. Iris hated that look. It felt like a reminder of everything she wanted to forget.
"She doesn't deserve to be named," Iris snapped, her frustration bubbling over.
"She doesn't, but how else can you move on?" Tara's voice was gentle but firm.
"I have moved on," Iris insisted, though her heart felt heavy with doubt.
"No, you haven't, and that's okay. No one has, honestly." Tara sighed, her eyes drifting toward the city lights as they flickered to life against the dusk. "I have nightmares most nights, and every time I hear a phone ringing, I can't help but startle."
Iris looked away, her throat tightening. She remembered the echoes of shouting, the blood spilling everywhere, the sound of a bullet being fired and the sudden quiet that had followed the tragic events of that night. They had all been so trusting and naïve. Now, the shadows of the past loomed large, and the memories they had with the people they once loved had been tinged with anger and loss.
"It's just... I want to enjoy things again without thinking about her," Iris finally confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's like she's everywhere".
Tara reached over and squeezed her hand, a silent acknowledgment of the pain they both carried. "I get it, Iris. But sometimes, facing those fears in whatever way we can think of can help us heal, even when it feels impossible."
They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of Tara's words sinking in. The traffic continued to crawl, but in that moment, the world outside faded away. All that mattered was the bond they shared, their unspoken understanding of grief, loss, and the faint glimmer of hope that one day, they might truly move forward.
"I'm sorry for what happened to you". Iris said, her voice barely above a whisper, laced with sincerity.
Tara looked away, feeling the weight of her trauma press heavily on her chest. "It also happened to you. Don't be sorry for something you had no control over." Her tone was firm, but the quiver in her voice betrayed the strength she was trying to show.
"She hurt you because of me," Iris insisted, the guilt etched across her face like a permanent shadow.
"She would've hurt me either way, Iris," Tara replied, her heart aching at the thought of what her "best friend" wanted to do to her. They both knew that she was right but Iris couldn't help but feel like without even knowing she pushed Amber to insanity.
A few moments of silence passed, and the tension between them hung in the air. Iris felt a crack in her armor and let herself be vulnerable. "I don't know how to move on," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I don't know if I ever will."
Tara squeezed her hand tightly, rubbing small circles on it with her thumb, grounding them both in the moment. "You won't forget what happened but you will move on. It will take time, but we all will." There was a warmth in Tara's eyes, a flicker of hope that Iris longed to believe.
"How can you be so sure?" Iris asked, searching her friend's gaze for answers.
"Because if we don't, then they win." Tara's voice was steady, filled with fierce determination. She locked eyes with Iris, a fire igniting between them. "And I'm not gonna let them win. I'm not gonna let them ruin me."
Iris felt her heart swell at Tara's words. "You amaze me," she said softly, a smile breaking through her sorrow.
Tara blushed, ducking her head, her cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and pride. After a moment, she looked back up, her eyes shining. "Surprisingly enough, I'm following Mindy's advice."
"Mindy's advice? Oh, we are so fucked," Iris joked, a laugh escaping her despite the heaviness in her heart.
"I know, right? Insane," Tara replied, her laughter mingling with Iris's, creating a brief moment of levity in the darkness. But then Tara's expression shifted, becoming serious. "But she did tell me something that really resonated with me."
"What's that?".
"The first step to let go of that day is to let go of the anger," Tara said, her voice steady.
Iris pondered this, frowning. "How do you let go of the anger?"
Tara took a deep breath, her gaze distant for a moment as she searched for the right words. "By acknowledging what they did. By saying their names. If we ignore it, if we don't say their names, then we are still living in that day, and I refuse it."
"I refuse it too," Iris echoed, her voice firmer now.
As they sat in the car, the city lights flickering to life outside, Tara gently brushed a stray hair from Iris's face, her fingers lingering just a moment longer than necessary. The simple gesture sent a flutter through Iris's chest, a mix of warmth and something deeper that she dared not name.
Tara's hand remained intertwined with Iris's, and as they shared a look filled with understanding, Iris couldn't help but notice the way Tara's eyes sparkled.
"You're stronger than you realize." Tara said softly, her thumb tracing the back of Iris's hand.
Iris felt her heart race, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Maybe I could just follow your example". she admitted, the weight of her words hanging in the air between them. "What's the first step to let go then?".
"Well, I started by saying, Richie and Amber, the fuckers that tried to kill us." Tara's voice trembled slightly, but as she spoke the names aloud, a surprising softness washed over the moment. Iris let out a soft laugh, and it immediately made Tara smile.
"Richie and... Amber, the fuckers that tried to kill us," Iris echoed, her tone teasing yet light, as if saying their names had somehow lifted a weight.
"You see? First step." Tara beamed, her heart swelling with the shared act of acknowledgment.
"When did you get so wise?" Iris asked, a playful lilt in her voice.
"When I realized that someone had to be the smart one in the group," Tara replied, her grin widening.
"Oh, fuck you," Iris shot back, laughter bubbling up between them, brightening the somber air like the city lights emerging against the night sky.
"We are still not watching The Babadook" Iris declared once the conversation shifted, shaking her head firmly, but the mischievous twinkle in her eyes betrayed her playful intent.
"Oh, come onnnn," Tara whined, pouting dramatically as she leaned into Iris's shoulder, her warmth radiating against the taller girl's side. It was moments like this, filled with laughter and light-hearted banter, that made the heaviness of their shared past feel a little lighter.
As the drive continued, the atmosphere shifted; it was filled with laughter and banter. They talked about everything from silly childhood memories to their expectations in their new life in New York.
And if Tara and Iris held hands during most of the trip, well, no one had to know about it.

self care based on your chart
I talked about the signs and houses connection to body parts and many of you requested this post. These are ways to do your self-care using your chart, the signs, and planetary placements and aspects. The same concept can be applied using simple self-love practices in other areas of life too.
✧ notes
I recommend you look at your transits chart or solar return as well to better know the best self-care practices at the time. You can base your general self-care on your natal chart but the transits can tell you the best times to take action or avoid taking action on something significant.
Look for the planets placements and their aspects, mainly if in the angular houses or make many significant aspects. Like I mentioned before I got so much dental work done when saturn was in the 10th, conjunct my mc and opposite north node, it was expensive but I was able to afford it.
You can also consider the degrees if you're feeling extra, in your natal chart and your solar return. Degrees can be associated with signs, so they can be simply linked to the areas they rule.
Planets rule things related to body parts like diseases or accidents and influence certain parts of the body depending on the aspects they make. Also two planets can influence the same body parts.

I wanna give this man some cuddles and kisses.
The things that popped into your mind when thinking about Ken were words and things such as; golden, a warm blanket, a gentle breeze, heartfelt laughter, denim shirt and jeans combo outfits, a cozy fireplace, breakfasts in bed, so on and so forth but as you sat down at table with plans of making Ken a scrapbook of your transitioning relationship from friends to romantic partners.
your mind went completely blank when it became time to executing your idea.
So much so that you didn’t notice Ken coming into the room with the intent of spending some quality time, whilst you on the other hand were growing increasingly frustrated with arranging and then rearranging the placements of the pictures and mementos Ken had gotten for you, that when he spoke, ‘hey y/n, whatcha doing?’ you were almost send flying out of your chair hadn’t Ken have his placed welcomely on your shoulder to prevent you from doing so. ‘Jeez Ken, you had me scared out of my wits there.’ You exclaimed, placing a hand over your chest before recovering from the little fright to show the blonde what you were attempting to work on, shifting the scrapbook with the mementos and photos scattered across the blank pages closer to him. ‘I was just working on a little something for you-‘
‘For me?!’ This time Ken was the one to exclaim, his captivating eyes became so bright and so full of raw emotions that you often forget that back home, Ken was merely an accessory to Barbie and thus, he was never given so much as a second thought because why have him when there was Barbie? So to him, your little scrapbook project must’ve been the biggest gesture of outword affection anyone has ever given him…well ever…and to comprehend that as his day to day reality broke your heart. ‘You made all this,’ Ken gestured towards the scrapbook before pointing at himself, ‘for me?’
Ken was silent and for a minute you thought something was wrong but before you could say anything, Ken spoke up once more but this time it was a little more sombre, more emotional as he looked at you with slightly teary eyes. ‘No one’s ever done this for me beforeno one has ever done anything this nice for me before…’ Upon the first few tears to cascade down his cheeks, you were immediately on your feet, holding him tightly to your chest, and as you felt him clasp onto you as though you’d dissolve if he let up. You felt tears on your shirt that went right through to your skin. ‘Oh Ken, of course I’m making a scrapbook for you.’ You told him softly, careening your fingers through his hair as he continued to cry into your shoulder; Not that you minded because you’d rather have him cry into your shirt until it was soaked then ever have him think that he should repress his thoughts and feelings. ever.
‘Why?’ He asked weakly. ‘I haven’t done anything cool or totally awesome to garner your attention lately.’
‘You never have to go to such extremes just to impress me Ken, you wanna know why that is?’ You asked but before he could answer you continued, ‘because I love you for being your natural self, for being Ken. And I don’t ever want you to feel as though that when you aren’t doing something to impress me constantly, I’d loose interest because that’s not true. Not even a little.’ You pulled away slightly, in despite on his whines and strengthening grip, in order to look into his pretty eyes that looked back at you, desperate and lost. ‘I’ll always love you even if we’re just sitting on the couch doing nothing, I’ll love you even if we’re in the kitchen baking together, that is until we decide to make it into a war zone by staring a food fight.’ You both laughed at the memory where your entire kitchen looked a tight mess from the flower and a plethora of things that were thrown whilst trying to make a batch of cupcakes.
‘What I’m trying to get at is,’ you rested your forehead against his, ‘I’ll never need you to impress me because I will always love my Ken for who he is, and that’s being his goofy but unbelievably beautiful self.’ You whispered to him before pecking him on the lips. ‘Now what do you say in helping me with this scrapbook? I could use your assistance.’ Not once had you ever seen Ken move so fast in pulling himself away from you, just so he could pull up himself a seat beside yours in front of the scrapbook before looking back at you with determination and a smile.
‘Let’s do this.’ He said and you couldn’t help but smile as you sat down next to him to run him through your original idea; Needless to say scrapbooking soon became a joint venture for the two of you.

| a/n: i have absolutely no idea about baking, never have i ever baked anything in my entire life of 18 yrs, so i'm sorry if the tiny baking parts violate the laws of baking.
The soft chime of the baking class door signaled your arrival. As you stepped into the warm and inviting bakery, you couldn't help but feel a nervous excitement, clutching your apron and recipe book tightly.
Today was the day you would finally attend the much-anticipated baking class, and you were determined to make the most of it. As you looked around, the scent of fresh bread and pastries enveloped you.
The cozy atmosphere immediately put your nerves at ease, but there was one person who seemed to stand out in the bustling room. Joshua, the charming and talented member of the K-pop group Seventeen, was already busy kneading dough and seemed right at home in the world of baking.
You had been a fan of Joshua's music for years, so seeing him here felt like a surreal dream. You took a deep breath and walked over to the baking station assigned to you, determined to focus on the task at hand and not get starstruck.
"Hi there," a warm voice greeted you. You turned to find Joshua smiling down at you, his flour-covered hands extended in greeting.
"Hi," you replied, feeling your cheeks flush slightly. "I'm Y/N."
Joshua's smile grew wider as he shook your hand. "I'm Joshua. It's nice to meet you, Y/N. Are you excited for today's class?"
You nodded enthusiastically. "Definitely! I've always wanted to learn how to bake."
The class began with the basics of bread-making. Y/N watched as Joshua demonstrated how to knead the dough, his hands deftly working the soft mixture. His smile was infectious, and the group of students found themselves paying more attention to him than the recipe.
As the class progressed, Joshua moved around the kitchen, offering assistance and tips to anyone who needed it. Y/N, however, found herself struggling with a particularly stubborn piece of dough. She sighed in frustration, and Joshua noticed her predicament.
"Having trouble with that, Y/N?" he asked, his voice as warm and comforting as his smile.
Y/N, her cheeks reddening, nodded. "Yeah, I can't seem to get it right."
Joshua stepped closer and showed her how to knead the dough properly. He placed his hand over hers, guiding her movements gently. Y/N felt a strange warmth rush through her as she watched their hands work together.
"Like this," he said, his voice hushed. "You have to be gentle, but firm. Don't be afraid to put a little more pressure. And remember, baking is all about patience."
She nodded, trying to focus on the task at hand, but her heart was doing somersaults.
Throughout the class, you and Joshua bonded over your shared love for baking. As you measured flour and sugar, you found yourselves chatting about your favorite pastries and desserts. You learned that Joshua had a sweet tooth and loved trying new desserts whenever he traveled.
As the class progressed, you couldn't help but admire the way Joshua's face lit up when he talked about his passion for baking. It was clear that he enjoyed every moment in the kitchen, and his enthusiasm was infectious. You soon discovered that the two of you had a lot in common beyond your shared interest in baking.
After the class, you and Joshua decided to grab a coffee together to continue your conversation. Sitting across from him in a cozy cafe, you marveled at how down-to-earth and friendly he was.
"Thanks for being such a great teacher today," you said, sipping your cappuccino.
Joshua chuckled and waved off the compliment. "No problem at all, Y/N. It was a pleasure baking with you. You catch on quickly, by the way."
You grinned, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "I had a fantastic teacher."
Over the weeks, your bond with Joshua deepened as you attended baking class together regularly. You became a formidable team in the kitchen, tackling complicated recipes and experimenting with new flavors. Baking was no longer just a hobby; it had become a shared passion that strengthened your connection.
One sunny afternoon, you and Joshua decided to try your hand at a challenging recipe—a multi-layered cake with intricate decoration. The process was labor-intensive, but you were determined to succeed. You both donned aprons, tied your hair back, and set to work.
As you painstakingly decorated the cake, your hands bumped into each other, causing a smear of frosting. You both burst into laughter, and Joshua wiped some frosting from your cheek with his finger. His touch sent a shiver down your spine.
"Sorry about that," he said, a blush coloring his cheeks. You smiled, your heart pounding. "No need to apologize. It's just a little frosting."
The cake turned out beautifully, and you both marveled at your creation. It was a moment of triumph, but more importantly, it was a moment that solidified the connection between you and Joshua.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, you and Joshua decided to sit in a nearby park, enjoying the tranquility of the evening. The warm glow of the streetlights cast a soft aura around you both, and the vibe almost felt magical.
"Y/N," Joshua began, his voice soft and earnest, "I've really enjoyed getting to know you these past few weeks. You're a wonderful person, and I'm so glad we met."
You couldn't help but feel your heart race at his words. "I feel the same way, Joshua. You're an incredible friend, and I'm grateful for this experience."
Joshua's gaze turned more intense, and he took your hand in his. "Y/N, I hope it's not too forward, but I've been wanting to tell you that I have feelings for you. I can't help it; you've captured my heart." Your heart skipped a beat as you met his gaze. "Joshua, I… I have feelings for you too. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I've fallen for you as well."
The moment was filled with sweet serendipity as you and Joshua leaned in, closing the distance between you. The world faded away as your lips met, sealing your newfound love with a tender kiss.

I Just Wanna Be With You ✧
WC: 938
CW: Fluff, Kissing
Pairing: Sam X Female Reader (Y/n)
A/N: To the anon who requested, I hope you love this and it’s what you envisioned! Thank you for requesting.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own the Cincinnati Bengals or Sam Hubbard and I am NOT affiliated with either of them in any way. This is simply fiction! Enjoy reading.
As I stepped into Sam's house, the scent of cinnamon and vanilla filled the air. The cozy atmosphere made me feel at home, even though I'd been here countless times before. Sam and I had been best friends for years, spending lazy offseason Sundays watching movies and sharing secrets.
"Hey, Y/n," Sam greeted me with a warm smile, his eyes shining with genuine affection. It was moments like this that made me wonder if there could be something more between us.
"Hey, Sam," I replied, feeling my heart flutter at the sight of him. His tousled brown hair and easy smile never failed to make my stomach do somersaults.
"I made your favorite, chocolate chip cookies," Sam said, gesturing towards the kitchen where a plate of freshly baked treats sat on the counter. He always knew how to make me feel special.
"You're the best, Sam," I beamed, walking over to grab a cookie. The warm, gooey chocolate melted in my mouth, and I couldn't help but let out a content hum.
"So, what movie are we watching tonight?" I asked, settling onto the couch next to Sam. His presence was comforting, familiar, and yet tonight, it felt different.
"I was thinking we could watch that rom-com you love so much," Sam suggested, his eyes meeting mine. I could see a hint of something more in his gaze, a spark that hadn't been there before.
"Sounds perfect," I replied, trying to push away the sudden rush of emotions welling up inside me. Sam was my best friend, my confidant, but lately, I couldn't shake the feeling that he was something more.
As the movie played on the screen, I found myself stealing glances at Sam, noticing the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed and how his hand brushed against mine innocently.
"Y/n," Sam's voice interrupted my thoughts, bringing my focus back to him. "There's something I need to tell you."
My heart pounded in my chest as I turned towards him, wondering what could be on his mind. "What is it, Sam?"
Sam took a deep breath, his gaze unwavering. "I know we've always been friends, but lately, I've been feeling something more. I've been wanting to tell you for so long..."
My breath caught in my throat as I listened to Sam's words. Could it be that he felt the same way I did? Was this the moment I had been waiting for?
"Y/n, I just wanna be with you," Sam finally confessed, his voice raw with emotion. And in that moment, everything fell into place. It was as if all the pieces of our friendship had been leading to this.
"Sam," I whispered, tears brimming in my eyes. "I've been feeling the same way. I just didn't know how to say it."
Without another word, Sam cupped my face in his hands and brought his lips to mine in a tender, sweet kiss. It was everything I had ever dreamed of and more.
The world fell away as we lost ourselves in each other, finally crossing that invisible line from friends to something deeper, something more. The love that had always been there blossomed into something beautiful and undeniable.
From that moment on, Sam and I were inseparable. Our days were filled with laughter, inside jokes, and stolen glances that spoke volumes without any words.
"I can't believe this is real," I sighed one sunny afternoon as we lounged in Sam's backyard, the smell of fresh-cut grass mingling with his cologne.
Sam wrapped his arm around me, pulling me close. "It's as real as it gets, Y/n. You and me, together."
The happiness that bubbled inside me was overwhelming, a warmth that spread from my heart to every corner of my being. Sam was my rock, my partner, my everything.
"I have something to show you," Sam said suddenly, a mischievous glint in his eye. He led me to his garage, where a makeshift painting easel stood in the middle.
"What's this?" I asked, intrigued by the unexpected surprise. Sam had always been full of surprises, but this was a new level of creativity.
"Close your eyes," Sam instructed, a grin tugging at the corners of his lips. I obeyed, feeling a mix of anticipation and excitement building inside me.
When Sam finally allowed me to open my eyes, I gasped in awe at the sight before me. On the canvas was a painting of us, laughing under a cherry blossom tree, the colors vibrant and alive.
"Sam, this is amazing," I breathed, feeling a surge of emotion well up inside me. His talent never failed to impress me, but this was different. It was us, immortalized in a moment of pure joy.
Sam wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder. "I wanted to capture our love, our happiness, in a way that words never could."
And in that moment, as we stood surrounded by the beauty of his creation, I knew that Sam was more than just my best friend. He was my soulmate, my true love.
As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, our love only grew stronger. We faced challenges together, laughed together, and found solace in each other's arms.
"I can't imagine my life without you, Y/n," Sam whispered one night as we lay tangled in bedsheets, the silver moonlight casting a soft glow over our entwined bodies.
I pressed a kiss to his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my lips. "I never want to be without you, Sam. You're my everything."
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed!

Can you please do a Phantom x plus size reader if you're comfortable? Where Phantom is immediately drawn to reader when he starts to get to know some of the siblings of sin. Maybe some smut but not required!
I am SO sorry this took me as long as it did. I got behind on my writing cause of midterms but I'm back :D I really hope you like it!
Have some very soft and smutty Phantom
18+ MDNI
My requests are open !
You furrow your brow as the first light of dawn cracks through the window. You grumble not yet wanting to wake and face the day. You could already feel how cold the room was on your face, you loathed to remove the blankets from your body. It was warm, cozy. You roll over away from the coming rays. You try to hold back a smile at the sound of soft little giggles from next to you.
“G’morning.”
You keep your eyes closed, but you can no longer hide the smile at the sound of the ghoul whining.
“Come onnn open your eyes. I know you’re awake.”
“Mmm nope ‘m still asleep” You pull the blanket up over your head.
“Oh…well I think you should wake up now.”
You don’t have time to respond before you feel clawed hands lay flatly on your chest and stomach, giving you a little squeeze. You yelp at the suddenness of it, throwing the blanket off your head and smacking Phantom’s hands away to the best of your ability.
“Why are your hands so fucking cold? Aren’t you a demon from Hell?”
“Technically yes but I’m also made of stars” He has a stupid grin plastered on his face.
“Shouldn’t that make you hot?”
“Are you saying I’m not hot” He faux pouts at you.
You roll your eyes and bring him closer to you, pressing your foreheads together. He closes his eyes as you run your hands through his hair, a soft purr kicking up in his chest. You loved moments like this. Moments with him. You just loved him. Phantom hadn’t been at the Ministry for long, relatively speaking, but you two had been inseparable since he was first indrotuced to the Siblings. He had been drawn to you instantly, why you still haven’t wormed out of him. All you knew was he would constantly seek your attention. You had to admit it was very endearing. You two became friends quickly when he was assigned to the same job as you outside of his rehearsal time. Everything was a blur from that point forward.
He had always been a touchy ghoul, but something about the way his tail wrapped tighter around your wrist or the way his hugs had begun to linger made your stomach twist. You tried to deny it for so long, not convinced he saw you as anything more than a friend. Turns out you had been so wrong. He couldn’t tear his gaze from you. He didn’t want to leave your side. He was content to just follow you around, helping with your duties so you could finish faster and spend the day with him. He was drawn to you at first because of the energy you gave off. It had a sweet and cozy taste, like freshly baked cinnamon rolls on a cold autumn morning. It was something he had never experienced before. He couldn’t get enough of it. As he started to hang around you, though, he began to understand why. You were kind, soft-hearted and showed genuine care for all of the Siblings and ghouls at the Ministry. He so desperately wanted to become the object of your affections when he saw just how gentle you were with some ghouls who came to the infirmary with minor injuries.
All of this came to a head one night during a full moon celebration. You had worn your best gothic attire to the party, excited to finally wear something that wasn’t your habit. He was enamored the whole night at the way it complemented your curves in all the right places. It was then and there he finally confessed to you how he felt about you. You still blush a little when you think about how large his eyes got when you told him you had felt the same, for a while actually. That had been months ago.
You’ve found yourself spending more and more time in his room, in his bed. You had all but moved in at this point. Some nights you lazily curled around each other, basking in each other’s presence while others had you getting angry looks from a sleep deprived fire ghoul and congratulations from a grinning multi-ghoul. But it was always the mornings that were the best. Especially the ones after the latter. Mornings like this one. Mornings where you didn’t have to do anything except lay with him until the spell of serenity was broken. You smile at the way the first rays of dawn make his purple skin look like polished amethyst.
There’s a faint smell of ozone and frost before Phantom is leaning in to press a deep kiss to your lips. He most definitely heard your thoughts. The kiss quickly turns filthy as he licks into your mouth with a pleased little sigh. His claws graze your hips, using them as leverage to pull himself even closer to you.
“How are you hard this early in the morning?” You say with an amused smile in between kisses.
“I could ask you the same question.” He chuffs a laugh before dipping a hand between your legs.
You gasp at the suddenness of it, closing your eyes and resting heavy against his forehead. He gave you a quick little kiss before you felt his hand momentarily leave you as he slipped under the blanket you refused to crawl out of. You felt him trail gentle little kisses from the dips of your hips to your plush thighs, soothing over the bites and bruises from the previous night. It’s not long before you feel him lick a hot stripe from slit to clit that has you choking on air and throwing a hand over your mouth.
He swirls his tongue around your clit before wrapping his lips around it with a gentle suck. You involuntarily snap your legs closed at the sensation, squeezing his head between your thick thighs. This seems to only spur him on. He trails down from your clit to your entrance letting the forked tongue drag so slowly through your folds before probing into you. You thank Satan for the impossibly long tongues of ghouls as Phantom licks in place only he knows how to reach.
You stifle a moan at the way you can feel him worshiping you under the sheets. Every pass of his tongue is soft yet heavy, slow and deliberate. There’s no rush, no desperation behind it, a stark contrast to the ghoul from last night. He takes his time with it, enjoying his place crushed between your thighs. This is why you loved mornings after with him. He was always so soft and so full of affection he couldn’t keep his hands, or tongue, off you. He wanted you to know how much he loved you. How perfect you are to him. How grateful he is that he’s the one who gets to see you like this, the one responsible for it. He would give you the world if he could find a way, but morning head will have to do for now.
You finally pull back the blanket no longer caring about the cold of the room. You wanted to see him. You wanted to touch him. He lets out a surprised noise against you and you lose it at the sight of his big eyes gazing up at you from between your plush thighs. You run a hand through his hair and scratch at the base of his horn with little praises and words of adoration on your lips. He smiles as a pure kicks up in his chest before burying his face in you. You feel his nose press against your clit as he starts lapping at you in earnest. Still sensitive from last night, it doesn’t take much longer for you to cum on his face.
Phantom slowly sits back on his legs, rubbing gentle circles into the meat of your thighs. He wipes his face with the back of his hand and leans over you for a kiss.
“Nope nuh uh” you shove his face away “go brush your teeth.”
He keeps making a kissy face at you “Aw come on I didn't hear you complaining about it yesterday.”
“I have no idea what you mean. Go clean if you want kisses.”
He dramatically sighs and flops off the bed before going to the bathroom. You watch him go with a smile of pure adoration. When he returns you practically pull him back into bed and bundle the two of you up in the thick covers. You reward him with little kisses all over his face before placing one on his lips. You barely pull back as you whisper to him.
“I love you.” Your lips brush together as you speak.
“I love you too.”

Indulgence- Sweet as Honey 🍯
This story was written quite a while ago, and it is definitely a self insert lol. I originally wanted to call is Sweet as Honey, then added Indulgence to it. This is kinda where I got my name from. The story is from Kakashi’s perspective, and quite long. There’s room for it to even be longer if I’m being honest. Anyways, let me know what you guys think! Thank you for reading 💕
———————————💕———————————
Warnings- Implied suggestive thoughts, afab reader, fluff
Word Count- 6k
Summary- Kakashi is a man that doesn’t like sweets. Yet he finds himself eating a lot of them lately. The sweets are not the only things he wants to Indulge in, he just hopes that she’ll let him.
———————————💕———————————
I have found myself indulging a lot lately. Taking longer walks, more frequent breaks, naps in the middle of the day. Finding the time to treat myself to things I don’t normally have. Sweets being one of them. Even though they weren’t something I enjoyed frequently, I found myself eating them anyway. All because I needed some excuse to make my way to the bakery every day. No matter how badly it hurt my stomach at days end.
It started when I got back from a lengthy mission, wanting to make myself a nice breakfast on my day off. The indulgence was small, just a simple loaf of bread, but it needed to be fresh. I knew the bakery by the flower shop had just opened up with new management- the old owner of the store finally retiring after over 50 years of running the place. Their bread was good, and so were their cakes (not that I ate cake often, but nonetheless.) I just hoped the new owners were as nice as she was, and had treats just as good.
On my walk there it was overcast, so I brought an umbrella. There was a slight chill to the air, cold enough to make my ears red. My nose would have been too if it wasn’t wearing a face covering. I warmed my hands with my breath through my mask as best as I could approaching the shop. The smell of bread and sweets already flooding my sinuses. Breathing it in I smiled and walked into the shop. It was early morning, but the bakery had been open for a few hours now. Hopefully they still have warm bread.
The bakery was small and very cozy. There was one spot for seating, shelves with recipe books, and the decor made it look lived in. It wasn’t too different from how it looked before, but a lot of things were updated and the walls definitely had a fresh coat of paint.
When I walked in no one was at the counter, so I browsed the cook books. I didn’t really need one, but it gave me something to do while I waited. Not long after I hear the voice of a woman behind the counter.
“Oh! Sorry ‘bout that, had to step away to show someone how to prep some pastries. What can I help you with today?”
Turning, my eyes locked with hers, the recipe book that I unsuccessfully tried to put back fell to the ground. This made her giggle, and I felt my cheeks getting warm. Thank god for this mask! Trying my best to brush it off, I laugh lightly and pick up the book, putting it in its proper spot. “Sorry about that, let’s see…” Stepping carefully towards the counter, I pray I don’t trip over my own feet next. “I uh, I’m not really sure what I want yet.” My eyes moved down to the glass display next to the counter and looked over all my options. There was a lot more than I had anticipated. Several breads, rolls and pastries. They all looked well made, like she put her whole heart and soul into them, yet I knew I was only here for a simple loaf of bread. My eyebrows knit together as I tried to think over which one would be best, slowly getting embarrassed by how long I was taking.
“Well… do you know what kind of baked good you’d like?” She asked in a very sweet voice. I looked up at her and her cheeks were as pink as I’m sure mine were. Her eyes almost had a sparkle to them as well. I wanted to keep looking, but I blinked and shifted my view back on the bread. Not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
“I need a loaf of bread, but I’m not sure which would be good.” When my vision shifted back to her, her eyes fluttered and a sweet smile appeared on her lips.
“My favorite is the Sourdough, but our Brioche is good too! It’s a pretty sweet and light bread. But if you want something without too much flavor, I’d go with the wheat.” As she spoke she took a step over to the display case and gently placed her hands on top of it. The new closeness made my heart beat out of my chest.
“Maybe I’ll go with the Sourdough then, since it’s your favorite.” I smiled at her with my eye in an attempt at flirting. Perhaps it was inappropriate, but I couldn’t help but admire her. The way her hair was done so perfectly, her makeup simple but well done. How soft her skin and entire being looked. Made me want to indulge in more than just bread.
Gracefully, the women behind the counter collected a loaf of bread for me and packaged it up. Setting it on the counter, she put what looked like a berry muffin right next to it. “Alrighty, since this is your first time coming in today I’m gonna give you this muffin for free. It’s a new recipe anyways, so I’m trying to get the word out about it.” Her smile was contagious. There was no doubt her actions were just very good customer service skills, but the idea of her doing something like this for only me made my stomach flip.
“Well that’s very sweet of you, I’ll make sure to let you know what I thought of it!” My eye focused on her as I spoke, proceeding to pull out my wallet. “I think I’ll have to try some other things you have here as well. What time do you guys open?” Her giggle did nothing but fuel the fire inside me as she took the money from me. I just needed more reason to keep the conversation going.
“Oh it’s nothing really! You’ve been very nice, so take it as my way of saying thanks- but we open at 6am. Gotta be open for the early risers.” I took my treats from the counter smiling, already planning on coming back tomorrow.
“Alright, then I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning!” Giving her an awkward peace sign, I casually slipped out of the shop. Popping open my umbrella as it was now raining. My thoughts filled with nothing but her the whole way home.
———————————💕———————————
The next day I got up just before the shop opened. I hadn’t finished the loaf of bread I had bought, but the muffin was long gone. Mindlessly I ate on it while I read, which was a big mistake. It was rather sweet, plus eating the whole thing made my stomach hurt the rest of the night. Yet I was ready to go in again and buy another sweet thing, just to talk to a girl I had only just met. It was almost infuriating how she ruled over my thoughts. Wanting to know every little thing about her. Today however, I made it my mission to find out her name.
The bell to the bakery rang as I opened the front door. The women from yesterday was stocking the display case this time. Looking up and smiling at me immediately. “Wow! You weren’t kidding when you said bright and early.” She came to the counter whipping her hands on her pink apron. She looked just as beautiful as she did yesterday, maybe even more so- if that was possible. “What can I get for you today?”
Walking right up to the counter myself, I placed my right palm on it and looked at her as I spoke. “Well I was hoping to get another recommendation from you! The bread and muffin were quite delicious. The berrys in the muffin were perfectly sweet, along with the cakey part.” I laughed as I gave her my review and looked over at the display case, then back to her. “So what do you think I should get today?” I cocked my head, smiling at her, hoping my body language wasn’t making her too uncomfortable. With how pink her cheeks were again, I could tell it definitely had some sort of effect on her- unless it was just coincidence.
Clearing her throat she hummed, and moved over to the display case. “Hmm… alright, how about. Yes!” Returning to the counter, she placed a bun in a bag, along with a couple bars that were individually wrapped. “Sweet buns are a guilty pleasure of mine, I eat them most mornings.” The same giggle as yesterday, made me laugh with her. “And these are homemade granola bars. One is almond and lavender, the other is honey and hazelnut!” The ingredients intrigued me, though I knew my stomach was not going to be happy with me. Despite that I bought them anyway, not wanting to say no to her.
“So… could I get your name? I know this place is under new management now, and I haven’t seen you around before.” Finishing my sentence, a couple came in behind me. I almost outwardly groaned, knowing our conversation was going to be cut short.
“Good morning! I’ll be right with you guys!” She greeted her new customers with a smile then turned back to me. “I’m Y/n, I’m actually the new owner of this place! My grandmother was the one who passed it down to me. I just moved back here from the Hidden Mist, that’s where my dads from.”
“Ah, I see! That explains why I haven’t seen you before. It’s lovely to meet you then, Y/n. I’ll be sure to stop by again sometime and tell you how these are.” With thanks I hung my head, and tried my best to leave quickly, not wanting to interfere with her work. There was still so much about her that I wanted to know. Why did she blush every time I spoke to her? Did she think of me as much as I thought of her?
Arriving at my apartment I shook my head at my thoughts. There was no way she thought of me that much. I was just plain, boring Kakashi. That’s when it dawned on me that I never told her my name.
———————————💕———————————
Today I was called away on a mission. It was not like me to be upset with having to work, but with my new found infatuation it was hard for me to want to do anything. Especially anything that didn’t involve me seeing or thinking of Y/n. That’s why I made up the excuse of needing snacks for the road. I doubted baked goods would hold up well, but one little thing wouldn’t hurt. Even though I knew I still had half eaten treats at home.
Arriving at the bakery I walked in through the propped open door. My sweet Y/N was stocking the recipe books today. She hadn’t noticed me yet, and with her not standing behind the counter I couldn’t help but let my eyes wander. My thoughts getting darker than they should. Stop that! Inappropriate! No! No! No! Shaking them off, I took a deep breath and took a step towards her. Trying my best to greet her without startling her.
“… good morning Y/n!” I said softly in her ear. Immediately making her jump, a book she had in hand going flying in the air. Quickly I grab it with ease, handing it to her with a chuckle. “Sorry, I was trying not to scare you!“
Y/n looked at me with her cheeks bright pink, clutching her chest. Awkwardly laughing she set the book on the shelf. “It’s alright, I needed a wake up call anyways. What can I get you today, Kakashi?” The mention of my name made my heart sink. She already knew my name?
“Eh- you knew my name?” I looked at her in slight disbelief, following her with my eyes as she moved to behind the counter.
“I mean, yeah… you are Kakashi the Copy Ninja right? You’re kinda famous.” She giggled, pointing it out as if it was something that should be obvious. I mean I was well known, but I didn’t think it spread that far. I blushed, feeling embarrassed in front of her yet again. “It’s okay!” Y/n laughed this time. “What can I get for you today hun?”
Hun? HUN!? She was throwing me so off guard today, I knew she’d be the death of me. My hands press to the counter trying to find something to ground myself. I knew the pet name meant nothing, I knew she was being nice, but I would have been more prepared if she attempted to throw a kunai at my chest. Taking far too long to answer, I eventually stammered out a response. “Dah- um… Oh, well, I was called on a mission.” As soon as those words left my lips my brain blanked. Y/n looked at me expectantly with kind eyes. She could tell I was flustered and gave me a smile.
“So… you need snacks for the road?” She guessed, pulling out a couple bags, never breaking eye contact with me. I nodded, knowing I was sweating at this point. What happened to my resolve? Yesterday I spoke so smoothly, now look at me! A sweaty nervous wreck who can’t even speak up. I found myself chewing on the inside of my lip as Y/n started filling the bags. “Don’t worry, I got you covered. I’ll even throw in some extra stuff for your team!”
Y/n proceeded to fill up a bag full of bagels, as well as a bag full of muffins. My stomach hurt just looking at all of it. Thankfully, I knew Naruto would be able to help me eat all of this. “Thank you… I'm sure my team will be happy.” My voice came out small as I paid her what I owed, giving her a tip as well to show my gratitude.
“Of course! You have a safe trip then! Oh!” She blinked rapidly remembering something. So cute! “I know you probably need to get going, but how did you like the things you got yesterday? If you don’t mind me asking, that is.” I definitely didn’t mind her asking. In fact I wanted her to ask me a million questions just so I could keep talking to her, even if that meant me being late to the rendezvous.
“They were very good! I see why your guilty pleasure is the sweet bun. I’ll have to get another next time!” I looked over at the glass display case to see if any were baked today, then locked my eye back on hers. “The honey granola bar was my favorite out of those I think. The lavender one I wasn’t too big on if I’m being honest.” She smiled at me, then looked back as another worker came out from the back with the buns I was looking for. My eyes widened and Y/n giggled.
“Here!” Quickly she grabbed one with a parchment paper and handed it to me. “Go ahead and take it, it’s on me. I appreciate your honesty! I’m glad you liked at least most of the things I gave you.” I took the warm bun in my free hand and felt my heart swell. This was the second treat she’s given me for free, and this time it wasn’t for the benefit of the shop. I tried my best to give her a sweet smile and bowed my head.
“Thank you, Y/n! I’ll be sure to repay the favor. I’ll come see you as soon as I’m back!”
“Oh please do! Have a safe trip! Hopefully the mission isn’t too strenuous! See you later Kakashi!” She waved goodbye as I stepped out of her shop. My breathing was heavy, and I could feel myself getting emotional from just her words alone. Clearly it had been a long time since someone had treated me this kindly. Did she care for me that much, or was she just a caring person. Either way I knew how felt about her. I adored her, and I wanted nothing more than to spend every waking second with her. Unfortunately I had work to do, so that thought will have to be saved for later.
———————————💕———————————
With the sweet bun consumed, I arrived at the Rendezvous spot fashionably late. A slight pain in my stomach that I tried to ignore. Lazily greeting my comrade’s of my team and Guy’s who would all be working together on a mission this week. A simple search and rescue mission.
“If my calculations are right, this mission should take less than a week to complete. We have plenty of leads, and with the help of my Ninken we should be able to pull this off without a hitch.”
“Kaka-Sensei! This mission is boring! We should ask for a different one, let Bushy Brow and Bushier Brow-Sensei take care of it!”
“It would be our honor to take full control of this mission Kakashi-Sensei! Let’s do it!” Lee from Guy's team posed with his palms up in a taijutsu stance, fully ready to take up Naruto’s request.
“That’s it Lee! Way to show your fighting spirit!” Guy encouraged, giving me a thumbs up.
With a groan from the rest of the group, I shoved the bag of bagels and muffins towards Naruto. “Absolutely not! It will go by a lot faster if we work together. Now take these and keep your mouth shut.” It didn’t take long for Naruto to get excited and immediately start pulling out bagels- Lee and Tenten joining him shortly after.
“Kaka-Sensei, I think we should all split up and have our own Ninken with us. That would be our best plan of action.”
“Thank you Sakura, I was going to do exactly that.” Forming the hand signs, I place my palm on the ground creating the summoning circle. “Summoning Jutsu!” With a puff of smoke four dogs appear, Pakkun, Urushi, Shiba and Bisuke.
“What is it now, Kakashi?” Pakkun asked in a gruff voice.
“Well good morning to you too!” I smiled down at the small pug. Wondering if Y/n liked dogs or not. “Today we’re on a search and rescue mission, so we’re gonna be splitting up. I’ll have you go with Sakura and Sai. Urushi you’ll be with Naruto and I. Shiba’s with Guy and Tenten, and finally, Bisuke. You’ll be Neji and Lee.” Crouching down I put an article of clothing in front of their snouts and lets them gather the sent. I cleared my throat trying my best to keep my head clear. My aching stomach is only making things worse. Really should have saved that sweet bun for later. “Alright, now that that’s settled, let’s all fan out from here. We’ll meet at the next spot about mid day. Use the coms if you find anything or need some assistance. Okay, let’s go!”
———————————💕———————————
By the end of the day we had made some progress, but still no signs of the missing individuals. We camped out for the night in a small wooded area agreeing to pick back up in the morning. We caught some fish and cooked them up, not wanting to head into potential enemy territory. At this point we were pretty close to the village hidden in the grass, hoping we wouldn’t run into any issues.
Around 9pm, most of the group was asleep besides Guy and I. He quietly worked out, while I sat against a tree reading Icha Icha. We kept to ourselves, until ultimately Guy decided to disturb my peace. The one time in the past two days I wasn’t tormented with thoughts of Y/n. “So, who’s the girl?” Guy asked, without stopping his set of push-ups.
I scoffed, playing dumb. “Tch- what girl? Who said there was a girl?”
“Really? Mr. “I don’t like sweets” Kakashi, just shows up with a bag of sweets out of random? Come on! There’s definitely a girl! Is it the cute one from the bakery?” He gets up looking down at me, hands on hips. “I heard she just moved here. You like her don’t you?” Guy pressed me further on the topic as he started to stretch. I rolled my eyes at him and looked back at my book. Though I couldn’t ignore the fact that my heart was beating so loud I’d be surprised if one of the kids didn’t wake up from it.
“I just met her, and they have decent baked goods. There’s nothing wrong with indulging a little here and there.” I tried to keep my voice calm and collected, hoping he wouldn’t call my bluff. There was nothing I hated more than talking about my own personal feelings. Especially when it involved my feelings towards other people.
“Oh come on Kakashi! You went to that bakery every morning for the past three days! You don’t eat sweets, so it has to be for a girl. Maybe you want to indulge in all that that sweet little lady has to offer you!” Guy raised an eyebrow suggestively, plopping down on the ground beside me. The suggestiveness of his comments made my cheeks heat up, I quickly moved my hand to pull my mask further up my face. Clearing my throat before I spoke.
“No… not at all. Drop it Guy, she’s practically a stranger.” At this point I was done listening. I put my book away and started to get myself ready for bed.
“Don’t lie to yourself Kakashi! This is the springtime of our youth! Learn to take advantage of it a little. Don’t let her slip through your fingers before she’s even in them!” I groaned knowing that he was right. This was all so new to me though. Having crushes, having relationships that lasted longer than a night, thinking about a singular person day in and day out. It just wasn’t like me, frankly it scared the hell out of me.
Laying on the cool ground I clutched my chest looking away from Guy. My throat got tight as I felt myself getting emotional yet again. “I- I just don’t know what to do. I can’t s- stop thinking about her…”
Guy chuckles and I hear him lay down. “Tell her what’s in your heart, Kakashi. I’m sure she’s thinking about you just as much!”
———————————💕———————————
The remainder of the week Guy’s advice never left my thoughts, along with the thought of what I was going to do next. Our mission was a success, with minor injuries. Me being the only one injured the whole time, which was a little demoralizing, but it was my own fault. My arm nearly got blasted off by one of Naruto’s rasengans because I was lost in my own thoughts. That’s why I decided that I needed to tell her. It was time I indulged in more than just the baked goods she sold to me. I just hoped she’d let me.
Arriving in Konoha, I turned in the report for the mission and went straight home to shower. If I was going to see Y/n I needed to at least smell nice. Maybe I’ll use the cologne I bought a while back and never ended up using. Hopefully she likes bergamot and firewood. God, why did I even buy this?
It was a little after mid-day when I finally made my way to the bakery. The walk there was spent rehearsing what I was going to say, and trying to shake the nerves. Just be straight forward. Offer to buy her dinner, make sure it doesn’t sound too forceful either. There’s a good possibility she’ll say no. The idea of being rejected made my chest feel heavy. I knew she was allowed to not like me back, to turn me down, or ask to just be friends. Though every fiber of my being just wanted her to say yes. Give me one of her sweet smiles and let me just whisk her away into eternity.
My feet stopped in their tracks as I almost walked right past the shop. Looking in the window I expect to see Y/n cleaning up, stocking shelves, or anything else. Right in front of me I saw Genma leaning against the counter, toothpick in mouth with a cheeky smile as he looked up at her. Her cheeks were bright pink, and she was looking at him intently. It almost looked like she was trembling. Was I too late? Did he beat me to it? Did something happen while I was gone?
My hand hovered over the handle on the door. I needed to see for myself what was going on. Maybe I could change her mind? Make her want me and not him. My self doubt and insecurity got the best of me yet again. I pulled away and walked off. Maybe this was for the best. She’d probably be very happy with him, and I wouldn’t want her to be unhappy. I’d most likely end up hurting her anyway… or even worse. Getting her killed.
———————————💕———————————
I had been gone for a week and within that time my infatuation was stolen from me. My guilty pleasure, my indulgence, my sweet Y/n. I watched the clouds roll by as I laid on my back in the grass. Arms fanned out, feeling utterly hopeless. This was just no good.
Perhaps my time of self indulgence had run its course. Maybe it was time to focus on missions again whole heartedly. Go back to training and teaching my students. It was silly of me to think that I could get something just because I wanted it. Silly of me to think I could indulge in something as rich and decadent as that. God she’s so pretty! The most riveting and alluring woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of looking at. What was I to her? What was Genma to her? Did he get free sweet buns too?
As my body began to relax, I felt myself starting to drift off as I lied there. Still only seeing her behind my eyelids. The cool breeze calmed my nerves and I took a deep breath. “Now then, sleeping won’t solve anything.” My hands run over my face and my fingers pinch the bridge of my nose firmly. Pushing myself to sit up, I had made up my mind. I will tell her regardless. She deserved to know, and I deserved to at least have a chance with her. Even if she ended up with Genma, at least I’ll know I tried.
———————————💕———————————
The bells to the bakery door rang as I opened them. It was almost closing time now and Y/n was finishing packing up some bread for an old woman. As soon as she saw me her eyes lit up, and she smiled real big. Holding up a finger so I know to give her a second.
“Alrighty ma’am, is there anything else I can help you with?” She asked sweetly, handing the bread off to her.
“Nope, that’ll be all.”
“Okay, then you have a great day! Thanks for coming in!” Y/n waved goodbye to the old lady, and immediately locked eyes with me as soon as she had left the store. As I approached the counter, I could see her pivot and then stop herself. A blush slowly reappeared on her cheeks again. “Hi!” She finally said, sounding nervous. “Ah- how was your mission?”
Seeing her nervous like this made me swoon. Though it paled in comparison to how she looked while talking with Genma. What did he say that made her so flustered? I racked my brain on what to say next, not wanting to ask her out right off the bat. She was at work after all.
“The mission went well! Found the missing people in little to no time at all, and with little injuries as well. Probably would have be none if I… well. If I hadn’t been thinking of you the whole time.” That did it. With those words her face was bright red. She must not be used to being flirted with, hopefully I didn’t make her uncomfortable. “I want to know how you’ve been. I have a lot of questions in fact. Would you mind chatting with me for a while once you finish up here?” Steadying my breathing I watched as the wheels turned in her cute little head. God the things I could do to her…
“Oh, uh, sure! I’d like that!” Y/n finally smiled, fluttering her eyelashes just right. It took every ounce of me to not grab her by the back of the head and kiss her right now. I just focused on my breathing yet again, making sure my words sound calm and collected.
“Okay, then I’ll be waiting at the Dango shop. Meet me there when you’re done!” Giving her a warm smile, I walked off. Heart thumping, my stomach doing somersaults, and I swear I was about to pass out. Maybe she won’t even show up.
———————————💕———————————
After an hour of waiting, sneaking sips of my tea, and twiddling my thumbs she appeared. Spotting me immediately she smiled and made her way to my table and sat down. She was wearing a new outfit and her hair was down, framing her face perfectly. Her beauty almost made me forget how to breathe. Not to mention the dress she was wearing sooted her so well. Loosed fitted, a light shade of green and a matching ribbon tied around the waist. My eye must have been heart shaped at this point with how precisely I was looking at her, not caring if she noticed either. Which she definitely did, because her cheeks were pink again.
Chuckling lightly, I poured her some tea. “Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. It really took everything I had to ask you here in the first place.”
Taking the cup from me she sipped it, and waved her hand lightly. “Awe well that’s sweet! It’s no trouble at all really, I actually wanted to talk to you anyways.” Her voice timid as I watched her tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. Please stop being so cute so I can think straight!
I cleared my throat, readjusting myself in my seat. “Alright, then let’s get straight to it then.” My hands fiddled with my cup as I thought of where I should start first. Genma. Start with Genma. I knew I had no right to be jealous, or feel as though she owes me anything. I just needed to know. “Earlier, when I got back in town, I stopped by the bakery. I uh- well obviously I didn’t go in, but I saw you talking with Genma. Um… it’s just. You looked very flustered. Your face was red, and.” Get to the point, Kakashi! “I was just wondering if you two were seeing each other. I don’t mean to corner you or anything, I was just curious.” I swallowed hard, hoping she wouldn't take my questioning the wrong way.
Her eyes widened, looking shocked. She didn’t look mad, though she was definitely not prepared for that question. My foot tapped restlessly as I waited for her response. Y/n shrugged and gave me a smirk. “No, we’re not. He did ask me out today though…” So he did beat me to it.
“And… how did that make you feel?” I looked at her, watching as her eyes looked at the tea inside her cup. She smirked then looked back up to me.
“Well, it caught me off guard. I had only talked to him once before. He seemed nice, but today he was…” She trailed off holding back.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. I just thought maybe you liked him or something.” To that her eyes got big again and she looked like she was about to panic.
“What? No! I mean… there’s nothing wrong with him. I just… I don’t know. There’s uh, somebody else.” Her words were fast and ran together, the last part practically a mumble. Yet I could still understand her.
“I see. So if not Genma, then who? What did Genma do that made you say no?” I knew I was being bold by asking her questions back to back, but my chest was aching. Genma was an attractive man, very popular with the ladies. Why would a beautiful woman such as her say no to a guy like him? Who could be better than him?
Taking another sip of her tea her eyes shifted around the room. “He didn’t want to actually date me. He just wanted to take me home with him. I told him no, especially because he asked me while I was working. He… he just made me uncomfortable. Though, I don’t think I would have said yes even if I wasn’t working.”
“Because of the other guy?” She nodded and messing with her cup the same way I had. I guess Genma wasn’t as great as I thought he was. Guess that makes sense why he isn’t ever with anyone for very long. “May I ask who has your heart then, Y/n?” Trying to word my question just right, so she doesn’t feel too pressured. I watched as she averted eye contact with me and swallowed hard. Taking a deep breath she tried to speak.
“Well… I don’t know if he has my heart just yet. He does, however, take up space in my head 24/7.” She bit the skin on her lip slightly, her hands moving done to her lap as she looked away from me. Alright, no more playing around. It’s now or never. Tell her, but don’t get your hopes up.
“Can I tell you something? It’s something that’s been on my mind for the past week now, and I just can’t hold it in anymore.” As I spoke, I kept my eyes locked with hers. Her cheeks still pink as she nodded. Here goes nothing.
“Lately, I’ve decided to be more self indulgent. Be kinder to myself, treat myself more. Relish in the things I don’t get to enjoy as often. One of those things being baked goods. Ever since that day, the day I walked into your bakery. The moment I saw you. I knew you were what I desired most. I want to know you, I want you to know me. Maybe I’m wrong for saying that, especially if you have eyes for someone else. I just, I just can’t stop thinking about you Y/n. I like you, way too much for my own good, and it’s okay if you don’t like me back.” A weight was lifted off my chest once the words left my mouth. Y/n stared at me, mouth a gap, but she wasn’t red in the face. In fact all color had gone from it entirely. My eyes widened in fear that I had scared her, or she was sick.
“Oh god! A- are you okay? I didn’t mean to make you un- uncomfortable if I did.” My hands instinctively reached out across the table. With her eyes fluttering, the pink returned to her cheeks and she giggled. Carefully moving her hands up and lacing her fingers with mine. I looked at our hands, then back to her, my eye fluttering now in confusion.
“You, Kakashi. You’re the guy I have eyes for. To be honest, I’ve liked you since the moment I saw you walk past my shop on the day it was handed off to me. You’ve been on my mind since then, and it only got worse the moment you stepped foot in the bakery. I would love nothing more than to help you indulge with what your heart desires. Because I desire it too.”
With my face red, and hands sweaty I laughed. In total disbelief she reciprocated those same feelings back to me. I felt complete and utter joy. More content than I ever have, just holding her hands. My thumbs rubbing over them, loving how soft they are compared to mine. This was only a small indulgence from her, but I couldn’t wait to indulge even further. Grateful that I could now indulge in Y/n whenever I wanted.

hi zainab!!!! 2, 3, 6, and 29 for the fic writer ask???
Hi Mak! Thank you for sending these in!
2. Do you read/reread your own fics?
Yes, because I am absolutely my own biggest fan!
On a much more practical note, sometimes I reread because it's part of a series and I'm checking a canonical detail (although if it's in the Bake Off AU I'm better off just asking @sesamestreep, who is the official lorekeeper and knows that universe's canon better than I do.) Other times, there's a fic where I just really like what I did with a character's voice or the general tone of a scene and I'll go back just to get a feel for what I did the last time.
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
I mean, the Bake Off AU has my whole heart and there's so much of me in it that it will always be special to me BUT!!! I really love the Thunderbolts-era epistolary fic counted days, counted miles because I think it's an exercise in me managing to show writerly restraint, which is a skill I'm still working on. (And also I got to come up with so many fun spy tricks for hiding letters; it was great.)
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
How fortuitous that you picked this question when I have reread wish that i could wind (like a spiral stair through time) FIVE TIMES in the past month. That fic is a work of art. I am also never far from rereading and never ever watch the ten o'clock news, which is Emma's phenomenal Psych AU of Rogue One which is just so wonderful and funny and it continues to hold up. Oh also! There's don't read the last page, which is a Brooklyn Nine-Nine fic that is short and sweet and just so warm and cozy and I go back to that one a lot just for the mood of it.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic.
Okay so this question reminded me that there's a 1200 word scene from the Formula 1 AU that was originally going to be the epilogue but got canned which SUBSEQUENTLY reminded me that there's a whole scene that I wrote for the Bake Off AU that got cut from Chapter 6 because things ended up going another way!
The beginning will looks familiar if you remember anything from that chapter, but then there's a sharp left turn that involves the lost plot point of Becca Barnes creeping on Joaquín's thirst trap and restaurant review filled Instagram in order to figure out where Bucky could go for dinner. I was sad to lose it tbh but the restaurant still made it into the fic as the place where Sam and Bucky go out on their definitely-not-a-date in Chapter 10.
A peek at the alternate timeline under the cut!
Bucky is starfished on his bed, trying to muster the energy to get up when his phone rings. His eyes are squeezed shut, but he opens one to peer at the screen. He only answers because it’s Becca, but he’s too tired to do more than grunt into the phone when he picks up.
“Good day, huh?” she asks, laughing when he just groans in response.
“Hope yours was better than mine,” Bucky says, when he finally manages to talk. “How’s day shift treating you?”
“I’m discovering that there’s this thing in the sky called the sun, and it provides light? And makes people happy? Do you think other people know about it? Should I be telling them?”
He laughs tiredly. “You can use all this newfound energy to make a TikTok about it.”
“I’ll get on that,” Becca says. “What about you? You okay?”
“Yeah,” says Bucky, bringing his hand up to his face. “I just need to lie down for a while.”
Not that lying down for the past half hour has helped, but he’s got high hopes for that sixty minute mark.
“No, what you need to do is eat something,” Becca says, sounding remarkably like their mother. “Tell me your head isn’t hurting right now.”
Bucky freezes, his fingers still pressed into his temples. “It’s creepy when you do that, you know.”
She laughs. “I know. Hey, why don’t you go to that place that you and Steve went to all the time, the one with the waffles?”
The last time Bucky had been there, four years ago, he’d spent the entire evening bickering companionably with Sam while Steve dealt with a work emergency. It had felt remarkably like flirting, and he’d even thought about asking Sam to get a drink sometime—and then Bucky had been eliminated after the next day’s Showstopper, and that put an end to that.
He shakes his head to clear it. “I’m tired, Bec, and they pick us up at like, six AM. I think I might just grab something from the convenience store.”
“Buck, I spend half my time listening to newborn babies cry and that is still the most pitiful thing I’ve heard this week. You are not eating yogurt for dinner alone in your hotel room.”
Bucky huffs. “Well, I’d grab a random stranger off the street to join me, but I’m not looking to get murdered today, Rebecca.”
He can hear the sound of Becca typing, doing the thing where she studiously ignores his asshole behavior until he comes around and starts acting a more like a person. It’s annoying how well it works.
After a minute or two of typing and what he assumes is scrolling, she lets out a, “Huh.”
When he waits for her to elaborate and she doesn’t, Bucky sighs. “What is it?”
“Do you know a Joaquín Torres?”
It’s far from the question he was expecting but Bucky answers in the affirmative. “He’s a baking consultant on the show.”
More typing. “Does he have good taste?”
There’s a tiny, childish part of Bucky that wants to say no, because Torres is chirpy and bright-eyed and his unfailing enthusiasm is exhausting at times, but that would be a lie. “Yeah, he knows his stuff. Why?”
“He lives in Atlanta; he posts about a lot of local hidden gems. There’s a Tunisian restaurant a couple blocks from your hotel, apparently? Kind of looks like a hole in the wall but he says the food is amazing.”
“I don’t know, Bec. It’s late and eating out alone is depressing.” His limbs feel heavy, and his shoulder is starting to hurt from having the prosthetic on for so long, and he knows that food would make his headache go away, but he just can’t drag himself off the bed.
Like Becca knows what track his mind is on—and honestly, she probably does—, she chooses this moment to go for the knockout. “Come on, Buck; it’s my job to look out for you, and you’re too far away for me to drag you out to dinner and make sure you eat. Throw a girl a bone here.”
She’s too powerful for her own good.
Bucky drags a hand down his face, sighing again. “You know, I hear some people don’t let their baby sisters tell them what to do all the time.”
“Poor them,” says Becca.
“Poor them,” echoes Bucky, and asks her to text him the address.
When she does, he looks it up and realizes that it really is only two blocks away: completely walkable, even in Atlanta’s late spring heat, and only a little further than the convenience store where he’d planned to grab his apparently pathetic dinner.
It’s only when he gets to the door of the restaurant that he remembers it’s a Saturday night and he probably should have thought to make a reservation. The place only has a handful of tables to begin with, and they’ve all got people at them. The host already has an apologetic look on his face as Bucky walks in, but they both turn in surprise when they hear someone inside the restaurant call out to him.
“Bucky!” says Joaquín, as brightly as ever. “Come sit with us.”
Because the universe has a sense of humor, ‘us’ is of course Joaquín and Sam, who are having dinner together. Alone. On a Saturday night.
It can’t be a date, Bucky reasons. No one would invite a random acquaintance to third-wheel their date, right?
He realizes that he still hasn’t responded when the host assures him that of course they’ll be able to add another place setting to the table, and before he knows it, Bucky is being whisked over to their table.
Whatever mood had settled over Sam after the signature today seems to have dissipated, and he turns to Bucky with a grin on his face. “I hope you trust Torres over here, because he ordered way too much food for us and didn’t let me see the menu.”
Joaquín shrugs. “I come here a lot,” he says. “Not enough people know about it, but it’s amazing.”
“Which is why he’s on a mission to be their one-man marketing team,” says Sam. “We got here half an hour ago and he’s already posted on Instagram like, ten times.”
Bucky thinks of the sound of Becca on her computer as she’d talked to him earlier, how she’d pivoted from suggesting the diner he’d probably have ended up at to this specific restaurant, and suddenly, this coincidence feels markedly less like a coincidence.
He’d probably feel more annoyed about it if he didn’t spend the meal close enough to Sam for their shoulders to constantly be brushing. Torres is right; the food is great, but if anyone asks, Bucky’s pretty sure the only thing he’d be able to recount is how many times Sam touched his arm to ask him to pass things, or dished some more food onto his plate, or gently nudged him while telling Joaquín stories of their time filming season two.
When the check comes, Bucky insists on paying, to make up for crashing Sam and Joaquín’s dinner, and as they stand on the sidewalk outside the restaurant, Joaquín offers to drop them off at the hotel on his way home. He’s about to accept when Sam waves it off.
“I think we’ll just walk back,” says Sam. “It’s so nice out, and the hotel’s probably closer than your car is.”
There’s a moment where all three of them silently commiserate over the trials of city parking, and then Joaquín says he’ll see them tomorrow and heads off.
Bucky glances sidelong at Sam, whose eyebrows are knitted together as he looks down the street towards their hotel. He can see the entrance from where they’re standing, but Sam gently touches his elbow and nods down the street to their left—the long way, Bucky realizes, a moment too late.
#bisamwilson#zainab does ask meme things#thank you for these Mak!#I had COMPLETELY forgotten that I had this little bit of the Bake Off AU lying around; I hope it's an entertaining what if

Thursday, November 7th, 2024.
What's one simple pleasure(s) that you greatly enjoy? Waking up to a snow-covered landscape. Cuddling with my cats while cozy in bed. Eating a warm and delicious breakfast. What a nice morning. <3
What are you listening to? The furnace running and the sound of my typing.
Are you in a relationship? I'm not.
What is your opinion on abortion? I'm pro-choice.
Why do you think so many people get depressed these days? There are probably a lot of factors. There certainly were in my own life. Thankfully, I'm doing so much better now and would no longer consider myself depressed.
Last movie you saw in theaters: Wild Robot.
Your heart is beating faster than usual, whom are you standing next to? It would most likely beat that way due to anxiety, so maybe Alex, my sibling, or certain people from my past.
What was going through your mind during your last kiss? I no longer recall.
Why did your last relationship fail? I was deeply mentally ill and harbored a lot of unresolved trauma. I also just don't think we were as compatible as we wished we were.
Do you feel like screaming? Naw.
How are you in general? Pretty good. Looking forward to a relaxing day of housecleaning and baking.
Do you think the world would be a better place without humans? It would be less polluted and there wouldn't be any human-caused suffering, but nature - for all its beauty and abundance - is still an incredibly indifferent, destructive, and oftentimes grotesque force. Eliminating humanity from the equation wouldn't suddenly transform the Earth into a Garden of Eden.
Last dream you had: The first fragment involved the animal shelter. I don't remember much aside from tasks taking an incredibly long time and feeling like I was fumbling around without making much progress. The second dream mainly took place in something of a hospital setting. Reminded me of my eating disorder inpatient days. I was showing Nick (ex-partner) around to the various gaming/activity rooms. There was also a bit of initial estrangement and rekindled romance involved, but nothing too over the top. Mostly limited to hugging, so relatively PG.
What's your favorite drink? Water, coffee, and hot chocolate.
What's love to you? A deep feeling of trust, respect, understanding, etc. Which are also words that are difficult to define, lmao.
How is the weather today? Cloudy, snowy, and 30*F.
Are you in love? I'm not.
What was your favorite cartoon during childhood? I didn't have an absolute favorite, but I watched shows like Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Spongebob, Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.
Who is your best friend and why? Oliver.
What is your greatest fear? Losing my dad.
What is on your mind right now? Mostly animal shelter stuff and how to stay safely separate from some possible drama. I don't want a repeat of last time, so I'm going to have to set boundaries even if it upsets some people (or one person in particular - everyone else should be chill about it).
Do you have any addictions? Smoking.
Have you ever done drugs, if so, what? Yeah.
Do you enjoy watching Family Guy? I did when I was younger, but I doubt I would enjoy it now. It's just not my cup of tea.
What is it that you really want right now? No more migraines. It's the biggest missing puzzle piece in my life right now. Without them, I would have almost no reservations about applying to the animal shelter.
Are you deep? Well, I'm not shallow…but there are far deeper thinkers than me out there.
What is your opinion of God? Is he real? I choose to believe in God. But is God real, and what is God, actually? I have no idea.
Do you and your best friend have funny nicknames for one another? Not really.
Are you a parent? I'm not.
Who would you like to be for a day? Maybe a climber summiting Mount Everest. I am aware of all the issues and controversies surrounding it, but since we're talking impossible hypotheticals here…yeah.
Is there a member of the opposite sex that you can tell anything to? I can tell pretty much anything to my therapist.
What are some bands that you've seen live?
Who is your favorite person? My dad.
What is your favorite season? Autumn. The early days when the leaves are just beginning to change and there's only a whisper of a chill in the air. The middle days when the leaves are in full transformation and the nights are longer and cozier. And the later days when the trees are mostly barren, the cold and frost are constant companions, and the snow begins to fly.
If you would get the chance to relive your past, would you do differently? Like my whole life or just specific parts of it? Would I magically know then what I know now? It's just weird to imagine being a baby and possessing all of my current knowledge and experience…
How? There are all kinds of things I would do differently…or might never experience at all. I don't know how dramatic the "butterfly effect" would be, but at some point I would inevitably break with my original trajectory and wind up in unknown territory. Honestly, though, I would prefer to work with the life I have.
Do you know who Kurt Cobain is? Yeah.
What about Ben Moody? Yeah.
How is life for you? I would say it's mostly good. It has its challenging and painful aspects, but they're tolerable.
State something about yourself that no one knows? Hmm.
Do you have any pets? What are their names? I have three kitties named Esther, Karenna, and Lacy.
Last joke you heard, did you find it funny? Slightly.
What is your favorite recent memory? Hiking along the Carhart trail with my dad. Such a quintessential cloudy autumn day brimming with nostalgia.
Do you like to cuddle? Yesss.
What is the most important thing to you in life? My loved ones, my cats, volunteering, growing/healing, learning how to create and protect a sense of peace.
What is your favorite movie?
What's a song(s) you can relate to?
Have you heard of Postsecret? Yeah.
Whom do you look up to? My dad, staff at the animal shelter, my therapist, etc.
Where and with whom did your last hug take place? I think it was at Chili's. My mom and I hugged after we went out to eat.
Do you want children someday? No.
What would you name them?
If you could represent a sin, what would it be? Sloth or envy.
Do you enjoy horror movies? Yeah.
Do you believe in ghosts? I'm not sure. Even though I'm fascinated by the paranormal, I sure am something of a skeptic.
Would you ever go bungee jumping? Maybe if the opportunity presented itself, but it's not something I would seek out.
If you had 13 million dollars, what would you do with it? Probably just save it and use it as necessary. I can't see myself changing my lifestyle very much.
Are you waiting for someone to message or text you? I just checked my text messages and saw one from Iris (manager). She asked if I was coming in today/couldn't remember my usual days. I told her my schedule and said I would be happy to come in if needed, so now I'm just waiting for a text back.
Do you tend to hide your true self? Yeah.
Do you have a lot of friends? Just one best friend.
What's the last time you laughed really hard? A few weeks ago.
Are you looking forward to anything? Yes.

⚅ — @rubiesintherough asked: — ⚅
⚅ — send me 📝 and my muse will answer all applicable questions below: ( slides this in with aedus and a cookie ) — ⚅
Muse Association Questions
— ★ ⚄ ★ —
⚀ what color reminds your muse of mine?
"Aedus is... Amber. Like liquor or honey. Amber like the ancient sap of a tree. Amber like shining stone, or a dimming halo. Amber like a low burning fire. He is... A brilliant color to me, not nearly so pretentious as gold."
⚀ what song reminds your muse of mine?
"Back in the day AMX used to sell this little number called 'Give Me All Your Love', and it reminds me'a him for, hehe, ah obvious reasons~ Is that a cop out? But I mean, it's true that anytime I hear it these days it makes me wish I was with 'im..."
⚀ what scent reminds your muse of mine?
"Oooh, Hinotori's scent~ I mean, I would say his cologne, but to be honest, I think it's more like baked goods. He loves to cook, and I love to cook, so we're always doing that shit when we're together. Over time I kinda... Any time I smell some damn good pastries, or hell. Any kinda really good food, I immediately think'a Hinotori. Well, except for bread. But that's a different story."
⚀ what meme reminds your muse of mine?
Hanekoma laughed as he panned through his phone, "I'll be honest, I try not to show any'a these to Aedus. I worry he'd get cross with me or offended. But damn, if this ain't him~"
He turned his phone around to show off:
Another chuckle as he locked his phone and tucked it back in his pocket, "Ahhh, he'd probably kill me."
⚀ what sound reminds your muse of mine?
Hanekoma reached up to tug at his chin, thinking hard, "Hm... Damn, I dunno. If we aren't talking to each other, we're usually silent, reading together or shit like that. I, ah, I haven't done a whole lot with 'im that tickles that particular sense, damn shame. We need to go out more, shit."
⚀ what setting reminds your muse of mine?
"Any place with lots'a books or lots'a antiques. I get in some dark academia kinda place and I immediately think about his home. It makes me miss 'im."
⚀ what fashion style reminds your muse of mine?
"Hinotori is definitely an elegant style type. Never see that man without a waistcoat on, hardly ever. Not that I don't like that sorta thing. Obviously I'm pretty damn into it."
⚀ what feeling does your muse associate with mine?
"Right now, it's love. I get so overwhelmed by it anytime I'm near him. He makes me feel like my heart's gonna burst. I love him. I love him. I feel loved by him. I'm almost dizzy with it. There is no other answer."
⚀ what animal does your muse associate with mine?
"Well, he's a phoenix, so... Yeah. But ah, I kinda think of him when considering birds in general, except doves. Those birds are special..."
⚀ what holiday does your muse associate with mine?
"Ah, right now it's Christmas. I haven't had a whole lotta holidays with 'im yet, but I will never forget last year when I got caught under the fuckin' mistletoe with him. I almost lost my head at that one."
⚀ what season does your muse associate with mine?
"This is probably gonna sound kinda weird, but I actually associate 'im with winter the most. And it's for one very specific reason and I dunno if he'd be offended by this, but it's almost entirely because'a how damn hot he is. I mean like, body temp wise. I never have to turn the heat on in my place when he's around. It saves a ton'a money, and there's nothing so goddamn cozy as just sitting on the couch snuggled up to him with a hot cuppa joe and being warmed up so nicely just by 'is arms alone. Damn. Beautiful. My winter fire god~"

Hello my friend! It’s your secret Santa here to fling another round of questions at you!🎄🎁
1. What is your favorite rom-com and why?
2. Your favorite non SJM book you read this year (& why)?
3. What songs/artists/genres of music do you like? Is there any artist/type of music you absolutely do not like listening to?
4. Do you like/eat baked goods? If yes, what are some of your favorites?
5. What are some little things that make you inordinately happy?
That’s all for now! I’ve been chugging along on your gift and am very excited to give it to you (I really hope you like it!) Wishing you bucketloads of happiness and good health, my dear! 💗😊
Hello lovely!! Happy Friday! I hope the world has treated you with kindness this week!
I feel like it has to be About Time. I'm a sucker for all of the Richard Curtis Rom-coms but About Time just hits all of the plot beats that make my heart clench. The premise is fun but what gets me isn't even the romance, it's just the underlying meaning of like, savoring every second of life as it comes because there are no do-overs. The scene where he goes back to have a nice day with his dad is like a gut punch and I bawl my eyes out EVERY TIME.
God I had to sit down and have a moment with myself because I realized... I haven't properly read anything outside of SJM this year. Unless webtoons count 😂I have genuinely spent every ounce of my free time writing fic, the hyperfixation is DEEP and I know if I read something else I'll break it.
I like pop and show tunes mostly! Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran where my top two artists on Spotify this year, but I usually listen to musicals any time I'm putting on music do to chores. I'm going to see Newsies in two weeks, which I'm stoked about! And there's no type of music that I loathe, really. I probably wouldn't personally ever put on heavy metal/rock but that's also my boyfriend's favorite genre so I've learned to love it too.
Yes! I love baking! I genuinely think that the best baked good, hands down, is a gooey chocolate chip cookie. For a long time I worked at a ski resort that served free, freshly baked cookies at 3pm every day and nothing has ever come close to the euphoria of biting into one of those cookies. (Except maybe staring into MB's eyes 😌)
Ummmm I love signing (badly), especially when drunk or trying to do any mundane activity. Being around animals and anything cute also light up my brain in all the right places. I love the smell of fresh rain andt the twilight just after the sun sets where the air gets a little colder and everything is washed in the loveliest shade of blue. I also just love feeling cozy. Snuggling up under a blanket, having a warm cup of tea, being by a fire place.
Hehehe thank you for all these questions! I hope they're of some help or interest to you! I'm so excited to read the gift you've been working on, I already know I'm going to love it!! I'm hopping you have the best weekend!!

I, Jessica Wolf, basically wrote
A novel book 📖 🙂. I had fun writing ✍️ this😎:
She was a savage soul. Strong and beautiful. And yet, undeniably broken. Some days she loved people.
Other days, her heart was 🥶 as 🪨. In those moments, All her walls were back up. A fortified city. She was mysterious. Aloof. Melancholy. Other moments, she was Inspiring. She laughed some days. Other days. She cried tears that no one ever saw. They weren’t physical tears. These were the tears 😭 that stayed inside her heart. She is a paradox. Did you ever truly know the real Jessica at all.
Or did you know the Jessica that she only let you see. She wore many 🎭. Emotionally, she put on each one when the occasion was just right. She watched her back constantly. Many days, her heart was truly under 🔒 and 🔑. Most ever see..what I want you to see.
Yes, I have a happy side. I have a sad side. I think deeply. Many days, I just shut down. I become
Numb. I close off my heart. And cry to Jesus. He holds my heart close. Especially in those moments I feel tired and numb.
He reminds me exactly who I am.
I am a deep thinker. I love romance novels. I love reading mysteries. I love comedies. I love thrillers. I Love forensics sciences books. I love life when it keeps me up on the very tips of my toes.
I love sushi, shrimp, all things seafood.
I love buttery pasta.
I love reading books.
Spending time with Jesus.
Singing.
Some days, I’m a happy soul. Other days, I’m sad.
And right now, I’m looking out at the glorious gorgeous picturesque mountains & scenic views of the hillsides as I write ✍️ this.
One of my other passions is cooking and baking. I absolutely love to make delectable dishes for my wonderful husband and children. The other thing that excites me is-decorating for the holidays in each season.
The fall season and Christmas season is one of my all time favorites. I love looking up Pinterest worthy styles online and in person at hobby lobby. Other times and moments, I shop online. I love finding those sales. You know the ones that just simply make your heart soar and bring a huge smile to your lips. I love beautifying mike and I’s, home. I love
Bringing a spruce of color here and there. I love bringing in the happy and cozy decor. The warm color of light brown colors and soft
Blues. Colors that invoke a feeling of comfort and safety. Simply a peaceful atmosphere w happy setting.
Most importantly, I love speaking to others about Jesus as I sip my cup of coffee ☕️ or a nice steaming cup of tea 🍵.
When I have my gal friends over for a quiet evening, I love playing the hostess as I ask if they’d like some wine 🍷 and cheese 🧀. You know the cute food platter board-that has all the yummy olives 🫒, apples 🍎 🍏. I love blessing others. And, finding a gift 🎁 that Jesus tells me that they’ll absolutely love. I call these moment: God kisses. The moment, Jesus gives me a prophetic word or words for someone and it completely transforms
And changes their entire world. I love buying all sorts of jewelry and cute gifts to go along with prayers time. And glittery Kleenexes, soaking prophetic worship music 🎶 as the presence and the love of Jesus fills the atmosphere.
Once you’ve entered into the presence of God; everything changes here. Hearts are softened. They are made new. One feels absolutely refreshed and happy again. I, just love seeing the gold in others. Highlighting what Jesus shows me
About them. I love treasure h u n t s. I love seeing and hearing what Jesus speaks over them. Jesus is so good.
So. Yes. My passion is showing others Jesus 🙂.
Spending time with Jesus is my happy place.
Ahh. Feeling so refreshed myself even while writing ✍️. Thank
You Jesus for this beautiful and comforting Cathartic word. I needed. This moment. I needed this time. Happiness truly is found in You.
One day. Jesus I can’t wait give you the biggest hug 🤗 ever.
Heaven is going to be glorious
Thanks for reading, friends:)
Jessica. 💕☺️
