Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how everyone thought Egon had gone insane. What Happened that made them think that. They've fought a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmellow Man TWICE (counting the 2009 video game because iirc it's canon? Correct me if I'm wrong), fought an interdimensional god, fought a blood thirsty ruler that killed thousands and was hated by all that was trapped in a painting (and managed to get in to beat him by making THE STATUE OF LIBERTY start walking down the street with slime that reacted purely based on vibes), found an underground abandoned transit system full of the moodslime, had a bathtub try to eat Dana and her baby, fought a giant murderous black widow lady, fought the fisherman ghost who turned an entire hotel floor into the bottom of a ocean, and that's not even mentioning them getting trapped on an island that randomly raised up from underwater that had been abandoned for decades created by Ivor Shandor who worshipped Gozer. So what did he do or say that made everyone else think he'd gone insane?? All I can think is maybe he was acting strange / eratic before, but he's always been like that to some degree.
I don't know. It's something that I've been thinking about. The correct answer is 'it's not that deep and they needed a reason that the others weren't together anymore and weren't aware of Egons death or know what was going on,' but also. What Was He Saying that prompted everyone, including Ray, to think he lost his mind when he'd been right almost every time before that.
I'm genuinely so curious as to what he was up to before this. What was he doing. What insane idea was working on prior to this or was he even working on anything at all??
Also want to clarify this post isn't negative 😭 I really love the newer movies and their lore / the newer storyline / characters, I just like thinking about small stupid things like this. Gives me something to think about / speculate about / figure out an answer to.

wondering about Frank and insects but specifically about how it looks like the WH insects are highly stylized, so does Frank even know anything about real butteflies/insects?
& if he saw a real one, would he recognize it? are all of the species names he applies to the WH bugs real, or are they all made up like "Vibrant Eyespot" or "Fluttering Heartwing"?
and then there's the question - does the neighborhood have some of the more 'undesirable' bugs like moths, worms, roaches, spiders? does it have bugs outside of the generic groups of beetles and butterflies? like are there mantids? leafbugs? dragonflies? weevils? or are those too specific/complex/not-cute for the Playfellow Workshop to have included?
and then there's the question of what are the bugs? props? puppets? are they alive or do the neighbors just perceive them as such? Do they even exist outside of art, storybooks, and animated segments? I highly doubt they're alive like the neighbors are, since in the gif of Frank's head spinning, the framed butterflies' wings are moving. which is kind of horrifying if you think about it for more than a second.
just... the critters Frank loves so so so much being a complete fabrication... every piece of knowledge he prides himself on / delights in knowing being utterly Untrue... oof

Apparently, today is the third year anniversary of Start Again: A Prologue. I felt compelled to draw Loop stealing Sif's hat for some reason in celebration.

xxxHolic Chapter 83
OH this Watanuki cover! Star eyes.
The overlapping ripples on the surface of the water? Like changes in the timeline? Like the water in the Reservoir, which Watanuki helped provide?
And Watanuki being both above and below the ripples at the same time! Sometimes they fall into the background behind him. Sometimes they flow clearly over him. Sometimes they blend into his clothing as if they’re the shadows of other ripples we can’t see, sometimes they meld with him, becoming part of his hair. Sometimes they overwrite him completely, making his hands partially disappear. It’s a wonderful echo of Watanuki existing inbetween the changes to the universe. The changes to the timeline have resulted in his existence, but he wasn't meant to be more than a ripple that would eventually flatten out and disappear. And at the moment time itself is not currently stable, and so neither is Watanuki.
Oh and the goldfish that are only visible as shadows? Kind of like the spirits Watanuki can see - but also like fragments of people that don’t really exist?
Or is it that Watanuki is like the goldfish too? We can’t see the original goldfish here, but we see the shadow that’s being cast - and the shadow is real. Like Watanuki is a shadow of Lava Lamp, and the other clone people are echoes of the people they were intended to copy. And they’re not those people, but they’re living shadows that are still real and exist, just like Watanuki.
You could also get some mileage out the fact that he’s upside down, since he's a living mirror image - an actual reflection of someone else that could be standing above this pool of water that we just can't see.
And it's especially interesting with Watanuki under water, since Lava Lamp made the wish that created Watanuki IN the Reservoir. The drama in the Reservoir is the point at which Watanuki began, which makes it all the more meaningful that the reason the water exists in the first place is because he helped put it there. Making Watanuki both a ripple in the water AND the cause of the ripple at the same time.
